Streszczenie:
The fact is, if you want to make a difference in music, you have to change the machine. (Christie 1998)In my book Rock Formation I borrowed from Walter Ong and Jacques Attali when I noted that, ‘The ability to record sound is power over sound.’ (Jones 1992, p. 51) I continue to believe that statement to be true. Arguments that I then made about the increasing role computers would play in the production of music have been borne out. They were not hard forecasts to make: one only had to imagine that the processing power of computer chips would continue to increase according to Moore's Law and then extrapolate the possibilities such increases would create for sound recording and reproduction. Even comments I made, vaguely tongue-in-cheek, expecting that we would have, in addition to the ability to record high-quality digital audio in the home, the ability to press CDs at home, and print colour inserts for CD jewel boxes, thus creating not only home studios but home pressing plants, have become a reality. However, with but a few years' hindsight, I want to append to these an argument that recording sound matters less and less, and distributing it matters more and more, or, in other words, the ability to record and transport sound is power over sound. Consequently, technology is an even more important element to which popular music scholars must attend.

Vaporwave is a music genre that appears in the 2010s and it lives on the internet. It remixes clips from the 1980s or 90s music and electronic sounds, which gives people a strong sense of confusion, emptiness and dislocation of time and space. The unique characteristics of vaporwave actually represent the attitude against capitalism and consumer culture. This essay emphasises how vaporwave utilises its features and ideas to criticise capitalism. Specifically, there are three parts that discuss the meaning of names, the ideology of vaporwave and the visual aesthetics of vaporwave.

Since its early days, the Internet has been used by the music industry as a powerful marketing tool to promote artists and their products. Nevertheless, technology developments of the past ten years, and especially the ever-growing phenomenon of file sharing, have created the general impression that the Internet is responsible for a crisis within the industry, on the grounds that music piracy has become more serious than it has ever been. The purpose of this paper is to present the impact of new technologies and the Internet on the three main actors of the music industry: consumers, artists and record companies. It is claimed that the Internet has changed the way music is valued, and also, that it may have a direct effect on the quality of the music produced, as perceived by both artists and consumers alike.

The ever-evolving Internet technology has brought more information resources for music teaching than ever before. For music educators, figuring out how to create and use these tools more effectively has become a pressing concern. China will usher in a new age of innovation and integration between the Internet and different traditional businesses with the idea of “Internet Plus.” MOOCs present significant challenges to traditional teachers and teaching methods as a typical practice of the transformation of education informatization to innovation, and they also drive global education toward a new process of informatization development. This paper adopts Internet thinking as the guiding ideology for the development of future music education concepts and, concurrently, conducts specific transformation research based on Internet technology from four aspects: music teaching content, music teaching methods, music education concepts, and the passing down of traditional music culture. The improved association rule algorithm is used to organise the students’ access data, decide which high-frequency websites are accessible to the students, and realize the intuitive positioning of high-frequency access and learning issues. AbstractThis article argues that the production and reception of certain recent electronic musics has resonated with criticisms of the perceived degenerative effects of digital technology on culture and ‘humanity’ – such as the lack of attention it promotes or the ‘information overload’ it causes – in an at least partially positive way. The resulting ambivalent aesthetics, sometimes thought of as one of ‘Internet music’, embraces particular negative notions of digital mediation in ways that can and have been thought of as satirical, exploratory or ‘accelerationist’. I examine three facets of this aesthetics: maximalism, kitsch and the uncanny valley. I also question the legitimacy of dramatising, even positively, digital media and culture as effectively ‘degenerate’.

In recent years, digital music is becoming more and more popular as mobile Internet and streaming media technology advance. Traditional music indexing technology mainly uses keywords to query. To find their favorite music, people must search through the vast amount of music available on the Internet nowadays, much like hunting for a needle in a haystack. In the era of mobile Internet, people’s pace of life is very fast. Devices can access the network anytime and anywhere. Users have the habit of listening to music in their daily work, study, or sports. Facing the vast music library, personalized music recommendation can help users quickly and accurately find music tracks that meet their interests, which is also the focus of current music recommendation technology. According to the characteristics of Tchaikovsky music, in this paper, we establish and build an approach that can understand situations and recommend by using the additional information of labels to describe Tchaikovsky music and realize a structure on this foundation. Through user involvement, the system can deliver services akin to network radio and complete the evaluation of the Tchaikovsky music recommendation algorithm’s efficacy.

The development of society has higher and higher requirements on the quality of talents, and the demand for talents with comprehensive literacy continues to rise. Using music education as a means to continuously improve the music aesthetic quality of the new generation of young people and establish music aesthetic concepts is an important entry point to improve the quality of the whole people. But the current colleges and universities basically still focus on the traditional education and teaching methods, largely ignoring the importance of music education. In order to improve the comprehensive quality of college students, this paper introduces Internet information technology into the study of music system. The experimental results show that the research on the application of Internet information technology in the music system of colleges and universities can save time and management costs to a great extent and increase the efficiency of educational resources by 3.58%. At the same time, it can implement dynamic music evaluation, reasonably arrange students’ daily music training plans, improve students’ comprehensive quality and music literacy, and integrate music education into students’ lives, so as to increase the effect of music education to a great extent. Besides after the Internet information technology is applied to the music teaching system, the system can be linked with the network platform and resources, which greatly enriched teaching materials for music and information technology.

How to find the music loved by users from the massive Internet digital music data has become the key problem and main goal to be solved in the field of music information retrieval. Personalized music recommendation system can accurately find and push songs that users may be interested in from tens of millions of huge music libraries according to users’ information under the condition that users only have vague demand for listening to songs. Relying on the traditional search method to find the music that you are interested in can no longer meet the needs of users, so the current music recommendation system needs to dig out the music that has no clear needs in the long tail to help people find their favorite songs.

The residents of repartimiento districts – Black Cuban residents from outlying districts across Havana – manage the situation through custom solutions that bridge gaps of technological precarity. Utilizing USB drives to share content with one another, artists and music fans have constructed a complex, alternative internet that allows for the peer-to-peer trade of movies, music, and other media. Pirate digital networks such as el paquete semanal and Zapya, for instance, circulate music across the island without the need to rely on costly and unreliable internet infrastructure. Utilizing interviews, physical and digital ethnographies, and theories of viral musicking, I argue that Black Cuban artists and music fans, despite internet scarcity, use alternative networks to generate viral events. In particular, Cubans in 2021 joined in a transnational expression of sonic protest through the popularity of the politically subversive song ‘Patria y vida’, a song that circulated widely through underground, USB-based networks. In this article, I discuss the song's construction, circulation, and role in sounding the J-11 Cuban protests to demonstrate how Black Cuban artists and fans share music through USB-based networks not only to solve gaps in technologically precarious situations, but also to generate powerful moments of viral musicking.

The research explored an adaptation to survive in the new normal era in the Jakarta art performers in general and the Betawi traditional music performers in particular. The implementation of social restrictions and regional quarantines in Jakarta had prevented many sectors from making economic activities, including Betawi traditional music performers. The research examined how the Betawi traditional music performers in the Betawi Cultural Village of Setu Babakan adapted to health protocols on stage performance and internet knowledge on virtual performances in the new normal era. Data are taken from in-depth interviews and classified to determine the adaptation ability carried out by Betawi traditional music performers. The Betawi traditional music performance studios were Sanggar Arrominia, Sanggar Gambang Kromong Setia Muda, and Sanggar At-Taubah with certain types of traditional music, such as Gambus, Samrah, Qasidah, Hadrah, and Gambang Kromong. It is found that during the social restriction and regional quarantine in Jakarta, the studios experience a decrease in their request to perform. They need to survive by adapting to the new normal era through the application of the health protocols on stage performance and exploring their knowledge on the internet to conduct the virtual performance. The health protocol limits the flexibility in performing traditional music through mask and face-shield wearing. The average knowledge of the internet and having limited internet devices are some other situations to be adapted by traditional music performers. The adaptation needs to be carried out sometime in the future, and this pandemic only accelerates the need.

The subject of this paper is to consider the use of music content from the Internet in the context of free time and its functionalisation in education. The paper will deal with the theoretical problematisation of this topic from an interdisciplinary point of view, uniting andragogico-musicological competencies. In that sense, we will try to further elaborate and supplement the existing theoretical and empirical research, the results of which confirm that education appears as a factor in the use of free time, with concrete examples, that is, case studies (including specific media phenomena - for example, music video or computer games, applications, blogs, and others; but also various music practices that are realised via the Internet - creating, performing music or volunteering, and others.). The authors start from the following theoretical platforms which will be the basis for examining the characteristics and functions of music content from the Internet in the context of free time: first there will be examined special characteristics of free time - difficulty of recognising it, its multiple character, hierarchical organisation and mutual diversity; then the basic functions of free time will be looked at (leisure, entertainment and personal development), as well as educational intensities, spheres and specific content of leisure; in the end, music content from the Internet will be established within the theory of "serious leisure".

With the innovation and development of network technology, people’s various needs are gradually increasing. Among various multimedia, music has different characteristics from other forms of multimedia. Music can contain many human emotions, and humans can express some shallow and deep emotions through music. Therefore, the study of music emotion in the context of the Internet is an area where the public is relatively concerned. In the context of new media on the Internet, based on the current music emotion model, this paper establishes a different music emotion model from the past through clear research and analysis. From music characteristics, some relative vector quantities are extracted to build samples, and the samples are screened on the basis of network media technology to build a musical emotion model. The experimental simulation results show that the music emotion model based on the blockchain network environment established in this paper has high applicability and efficiency.
