Streszczenie:
The article presents methodological approaches to determining the volume of passenger service in long-distance railway connections and intercity bus services in Ukraine, which are expected in the coming years. Goal. The purpose of the study is to increase the reliability of the information base for making informed management decisions on the further development of the transport passenger complex. Methodology. In the process of research there was used a set of methods of expert assessment and logical analysis of possible factors influencing; economic and mathematical modeling; formalized extrapolation methods to determine the predictive parameters of influencing factors. Results. The forecast values of the number of transported passengers and the values of passenger turnover in long-distance railway and intercity bus connections in the short-term period are obtained. Originality. To estimate the forecast values of passenger traffic there was used the combination of methods of correlation-regression analysis and forecasting the magnitude of factors by the method of variable average. Practical value. The study of the patterns of passenger traffic dynamics revealed that in the next two years no significant changes are expected in the volume of work of both kinds of transport. However, in long-distance railway transport it is possible to increase passenger traffic by 1.6% (0.74 million passengers) and, accordingly, the annual passenger turnover will increase by 2.2%. In the intercity bus service, a slight decrease in the volume of passenger traffic by 0.8% (0.93 million passengers) is possible, and the rate of decrease in annual passenger turnover will be 0.5%. In the conditions of constant reduction of the population of Ukraine the most effective mechanism of ensuring further sustainable development of both types of passenger transportation is constant adjustment of tariff policy on the principles of flexibility and bonus tariff formation under condition of continuous improvement of services quality.

The article discusses possible transport and logistics schemes for a «door-to-door» passenger trip on intercity and suburban routes in the riverine regions by hovercraft. An analysis of a number of research works of Russian scientists and English-language sources in the field of passenger transport quality has been carried out, which has shown that the study of transport and logistics schemes for a passenger’s trip concerning factors such as distance, cost, travel time according to any presented typical «door-to-door» scheme on bus routes and hovercraft are not found on intercity and suburban routes in the riverine regions. The author proposes typical transport and logistics schemes for passenger trips in alternative routes and an analytical method for developing the technological process of passenger trips on intercity and suburban routes by road and river transport with an algorithm for determining time costs that can be used in transport organizations.

The movement activity from Medan City to Tanjung Balai City is a fairly dense movement. The movement between the two cities can be served by several modes of transportation including trains and intercity transport buses (KUPJ, KUPJ TOUR, Sartika). The purpose of this study is to find out which public transportation is most interested in by the public before and after changes in the train system with city transportation buses, as well as analyze the variables of destination, consideration, and service of the Medan Tanjung Balai route. Based on the results of the analysis between passenger data from agencies and the results of field questionnaires, passengers prefer trains over intercity transport buses. This is due to the efficiency of fast train mileage compared to intercity transport buses. From the results of independent variables (goals, considerations, services) positively and significantly give a good influence to users of rail transport and city transport buses.

Buses represent the main mode for intercity passenger transportation in China. In recent years, a multichannel ticketing strategy has been widely employed in the bus passenger transportation industry. However, the mechanisms and key drivers of the channels through which bus passengers purchase tickets are underexplored. Thus, the aim of this study is to empirically apply an integrated choice and latent variable (ICLV) approach to analyze ticketing channel choice behavior and the heterogeneous preferences of bus passengers. The variables incorporated in the model include the socioeconomic characteristics of passengers, trip attributes, and latent attitudes with 12 ordinal indicators. Based on the data of 1800 participants collected from the city of Beijing, China, this study develops a ticketing channel choice ICLV model merging a discrete choice model with a structural equation model. The key factors that affect the channel preference are further discussed through a comparison with a conventional multinomial logit (MNL) model. The results reveal that the three attitudinal variables have a significant influence on ticketing channel choice. Furthermore, this study indicates that perceptual differences exist due to various socioeconomic and trip characteristics. Personal privacy is a major obstacle that prevents passengers from choosing online channels, especially for older passengers and those with lower education.

The article deals with international passenger transportation. The modern directions of research in the field of passenger transport are analyzed. The interaction of a large number of participants in the transport services market with each other under certain socio-economic conditions increases the complexity of competitive processes taking place in the market. A brief analysis of the intercity passenger transportation market is carried out. The current situation of transport companies and consumers is characterized as a buyer’s market. The transport characteristics of the southwestern part of the Siberian region are presented. The availability of alternative means of transportation leads to the need to develop mathematical models of splitting of passenger flows by means of transport. Information has been collected about the trips of passengers by rail, bus and road transport in direct and reverse directions on the Novosibirsk - Kemerovo and Novosibirsk - Tomsk routes. An algorithm has been developed for dividing the population into groups according to equivalent preferences of modes of transport, which allows us to estimate the amount of demand in the passenger transportation market. Based on the proposed algorithm, the task of optimizing the traffic intensity is set. It is shown how traffic intensity affects passenger traffic on railway transport. The total shares of the population according to the general preference of modes of transport in the considered directions are determined and analyzed.

This essay examines the transition from a rail-based intercity transportation system in California in 1910 to a road/private auto-based system thirty years later, with hypotheses that the transition could be explained by either corporate and state decisions for supplying infrastructure or by public demand. The essay examines trends of automobile ownership, road investment, bus organization and service provision, intercity passenger rail service provision, and intercity rail revenues, both within California and to and from California in each of the three decades. It concludes that public preference for private automobility explains most of the transition but that unserved demand remained for fast passenger train service between the state's large metropolitan areas. Failure to serve that demand derived from California's legacy of popular disdain for the private railroad industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic and antipandemic policies have significantly impacted highway transportation. Many studies have been conducted to quantify these impacts. However, quantitative analysis of the impacts on province-wide traffic in developing countries, such as China, is still inadequate. This paper tried to fill this gap by proposing equations to quantify the traffic variations of overall province-wide traffic and to analyze the intercity bus traffic variation and intercity bus usage, applying the K-means cluster method to conduct the analysis of traffic reductions in regions with different levels of economic development, and using the hypothesis testing for traffic recovery analysis. It is found that passenger vehicle traffic and truck traffic dropped by 59.67% and 68.19% during the outbreak, respectively. The intercity bus traffic on highways declined by 59.8% to 98.6%, and the intercity bus usage dropped by 55.6% on average. For traffic reductions in different regions, the higher the GDP per capita was, the more the traffic was affected by the pandemic. In regions with lower GDP per capita, traffic variations were minor. It is also found that the passenger vehicle traffic went through four stages in 99 days: the Decline Stage, Rapid Recovery Stage, Slow Recovery Stage, and Normal Stage, while truck traffic only experienced the Decline Stage, Rapid Recovery Stage, and Normal Stage and took 51 days to recover to the Normal Stage. In the Rapid Recovery Stage, the recovery rates were 15.6% and 12.9% per week for passenger vehicle traffic and truck traffic, respectively, and the recovery rate was only 2.1% for passenger vehicle traffic in the Slow Recovery Stage. Despite the recovery of traffic volumes, neither passenger-kilometers nor tonne-kilometers of freight in 2020 reached the same level as in 2019. These findings help the understanding of the pandemic’s impacts on highway traffic for researchers and can provide valuable references for decision-makers to develop antipandemic policies.

The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly affected the economic and social spheres of all countries. Restrictions intro-duced to reduce the risk of transmission have changed the structure of population movements. The impact of these restrictions on the characteristics of intercity travel is still an understudied problem. Based on the analysis of statisti-cal data and the results of questionnaires, the article assesses the impact of pandemic restrictions on population mobil-ity in the Western region of Ukraine and changes in the distribution of passenger flows between different modes (bus, rail, private transport, joint travel). In 2020, the volume of passenger traffic in the region decreased by an average of half compared to the previous year. The decline is sharper for rail passenger transport compared to the bus transport. For more developed railway networks, the impact of the pandemic on passenger traffic is more pronounced. Quarantine restrictions have also increased the share of own car travel. According to research, the distribution of intercity trips between modes is influenced by the age and sex of the traveler. During the pandemic, users of transport services who travel with children under the age of 14 choose private transport to travel more often than those who travel alone. The degree of influence of the above factors on the distribution of modes depends on the length of the trip. The application part of the work presents the results of modeling passenger flows of the studied region in the software environment PTV Visum. It was found that at the beginning of the quarantine restrictions the number of intercity trips decreases sharply. As the duration of restrictions increases, the rate of decline in mobility decreases. These data can be further taken into account when planning the work of transport enterprises and meeting the population`s demand for travel. The practi-cal application of the study results is that the identification of trends in the mobility of residents of the studying region depending on the impact of pandemic restrictions allows you to predict the mode and type of vehicles used. Based on these data, you can determine marketing strategies for the development of certain modes and directions of transporta-tion.

The safety of passenger transportation is not only to prevent accidents but also to ensure the conditions of health and efficiency of passengers and driver and the comfort of moving, which is guaranteed by the microclimate in the bus and the driver's workplace. One of the principal indicators of the microclimate is the air temperature in the cabin. The purpose of the work is to develop and substantiate the method of calculating the temperature of the bus interior.Unorganized air exchange due to body leaks (infiltration) influence on the thermal regime of the bus interior. Air exchange due to body leaks depends linearly on the speed of the bus. Heat loss through the structural elements of the body linearly depends on the outside air temperature. The calculation of the thermal state of the bus interior, in principle, is reduced to the estimation of the calorific value of the liquid heater, taking into account all heat losses in the cabin. The method of calculation developed on two indicators: experimentally defined coefficient of heat transfer of a body of the city bus and its inverse size, the calculated value of thermal resistance of unit of the area of salon of the bus. The thermal regime of the interior of a city bus in the conditions of winter operation is significantly influenced by heat exchange through the openings of open doors at short-term service stops. As for long-distance coaches, open the passenger door is much less. Therefore at the operation of buses of the specified class, it is necessary to give in salon-fresh air which needs to be heated.Since there are statistics on heat transfer of the body of city buses, the temperature of their cabins proposes to be calculated by the heat transfer coefficient of the bus body.In this method, the calculation depends on the heat transfer coefficient of the body. The supply and heating of air for ventilation are not taken into account, as the passenger door carries out air exchange in the cabin during bus stops. As calculations have shown, heat losses primarily depend on the temperature difference between the outside air and in the cabin. However, statistics on heat transfer of intercity (tourist) bus bodies are not currently available in the available publications. The temperature condition of intercity buses must correspond to the following calculations, inverse to the heat transfer coefficient of the body - thermal resistance per unit area of the bus.The method of calculating the temperature of the bus interior is substantiated. For city buses should be based on the calculation of heat transfer coefficients body. The temperature condition of intercity buses must be calculated from the thermal resistance per unit area of the bus interior. We proved that heat losses in the cabin of intercity buses, compared to city buses, are much lower due to the absence of heat losses at service stops at the exit and entry of passengers, which account for more than half of all heat losses. To reduce heat loss, the use of double-glazed windows instead of single panes has a particularly significant effect.

The purpose of this article is to add another dimension to our understanding of travel behaviour by highlighting how individual decisions about travel are simultaneously influenced by both rational, calculable metrics of the transportation system but also by socially constructed, context-specific perceptions that travellers hold about the travel modes themselves. The context for this study is a rapid transformation of the market for intercity buses in the Northeast United States. In the past 15 years, new entrants have transformed a humdrum industry into a dynamic sector of the intercity travel market. The new entrants, curbside buses, have largely shunned traditional bus terminals in favour of picking up and dropping off bus passengers on city streets. Ridership has steadily increased, and these new bus companies have expanded operations throughout the country. Drawing on a series of focus groups with intercity bus passengers, I describe how two sets of factors drive intercity travellers’ choice to travel onboard the new intercity buses. First, the new companies offer operational and economic advantages. Second, and surprisingly, focus group participants have different perceptions of the new bus companies than the old – and these perceptions appear to be influencing their travel decisions.

Passenger transport of the country has a significant impact on the level of its economic development, providing the connection of the population with objects of industrial, social, cultural and household purposes. In Russia, intercity passenger transportation by public transport is mainly represented by bus, rail, aviation (aircraft) and water (domestic). The article analyzes the dynamics of passenger transportation and passenger turnover of public transport for the period from 2015 to 2020, presents a calculation of the number of flights performed by bus, rail, air (aircraft) and water (domestic) transport, identifies the reasons for the lack of development of passenger transportation and suggests solutions. It is established that inland water transport is currently undergoing decline and state intervention is necessary for their development. Also, during the period under review, there is a decrease in the popularity of buses and a preference for private transport to public, it is necessary to improve the quality of transportation. The indicators of air and rail transport have positive dynamics, but they also require growth. The development of air transport in Russia can be carried out by the introduction of new services, for example, air taxi, rail-transport in the field of urban and suburban communications, the construction of new high - speed highways. In 2020, due to the announcement of restrictions on movement and quarantine measures, there is a sharp decline in indicators for all types of transport. The materials can be used to analyze and improve the work of the country's passenger complex.

In modern conditions of the Russian Federation in the field of traffic management, one of the priorities is to develop and improve the quality of functioning of route transport. One of the main requirements of passengers is the minimum time spent on the trip. It is problematic to meet this requirement without mutual coordination of transport processes along routes and the use of stopping points by vehicles and passengers due to their interdependence. The problem of such coordination is not only in cities, but also in regional settlements. The subject of this study is the coordination of passenger transport processes on regional bus routes that have common sections and stop-and-transfer points. The purpose of the study is to improve the organization of passenger transportation in regional directions by coordinating routes in time. In this study, we developed a method for coordinating bus schedules for regional routes that share common sections of the route or stop-and-transfer points. According to the results of applying the method for the Sargatsky district of the Omsk region, the results were obtained, according to which the average waiting time for a passenger in the case of a transfer was reduced by 60 %. Application of the developed method allows to organize rational distribution of arrival and departure of buses during the day according to the criterion of the minimum waiting time for passengers at the stop and transfer point and allows to solve the problem of inconsistency of bus traffic. Experimental testing has shown that the use of this technique reduces the waiting time for passengers at transfer points by up to 60%, which also reduces the time of network travel. The developed method can be used in the organization of intercity, intermunicipal and rural passenger transport.

The article is devoted to the search for ways of optimal reorganization of intra-regional bus service, during the creation of new territorial communities. Options for optimizing the route network on the example of a network of intercity and suburban (intra-regional) public bus routes that do not go beyond the territory of Kyiv region, which was approved by the order of the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration dated November 19, 2018 № 636.The state of the existing route network is analyzed, the examination of the proposals received from the territorial communities of Kyiv region and carriers servicing this route network is carried out, and the expediency and possibility of implementing these proposals during the optimization of the route network by the transportation organizer is considered. It was found that the main reason for the shift of the centers of formation and attraction of passenger flows on public bus routes in suburban and intercity traffic is a change in the state status of some cities, ie the creation of new district centers. Organizational measures are proposed, taking into account the requirements of the transport legislation of Ukraine, regarding the possibility of implementing the provided proposals during the optimization of the existing route network. Based on the results of the examination of the proposals, the transportation organizer was provided with recommendations that must be taken into account to reduce the impact of organizational measures on the social tension in the region. The general directions, ie the road map, on optimization of a route network for both regional, and for regional organizers of transportations within their competence are defined. The professional suitability of a driver in motor transport enterprises is often limited by medical indicators, age and experience. Having a driver’s license of category B or C, driving experience of at least 3 years and a candidate who has reached the age of 21, within a few months of training can become a bus driver. Taking into account the increased social responsibility of the bus driver’s professional activity, it is important to apply an integrated approach to recruitment. The relevance of the work is confirmed by the results of an experimental study of the influence of the level of development of psychophysiological qualities of drivers on accident rates. It was found that at the enterprise in which professional selection of drivers was carried out using psychophysiological testing, the accident rate is 62.5% less than at the enterprise in which testing was not carried out. The aim of the work is to improve road safety in the conditions of using a set of methods of professional selection of drivers, taking into account psychophysiological qualities. The paper uses methods of mathematical statistics, the content component for which was obtained using the software and hardware complex UPDK-MK “Driving School” JSC (Neurocom). As a result of the conducted research, the possibility of differentiating candidates for the position of driver by types of transport work at the stage of professional selection is proved, which helps to reduce potential driver errors, thereby increasing its reliability and driving safety. Of the total number of candidates, 58% showed a high level of psychophysiological qualities. The distribution of the shares of candidates by types of transport work has been established: urban freight transportation — 31%, intercity freight transportation — 16%, urban passenger transportation — 6% and intercity passenger transportation — 5%. The scientific novelty of the study is the share distribution of successful candidates for the driver’s position in the conditions of using a set of techniques that differ from the well-known ones in that at the stage of professional selection it allows differentiating candidates by types of transport work: urban and intercity, freight and passenger transportation. The practical significance of the study is to improve road safety through the use of a differentiated approach to the selection of drivers of motor transport companies, taking into account the transport work performed. Further research is aimed at creating a system for improving the psychophysiological characteristics of drivers and candidates for drivers.

Economic circles have been formed and developing in China. An economic circle consists of more than one closely adjoining central cities and their influence zones. It is always the major engine for the development of one country's economy and even for the world economy. A combined modal split and assignment model with deterministic travel demand is proposed for modelling passengers’ choices of intercity bus and train which are two main competing modes in the multimodal transportation network of the economic circle. The generalized travel cost model of highway and railway are used incorporating travel time, ticket fare and passenger's discomfort. On the highway network, the interactions of private vehicles and intercity buses are asymmetric. Thus, a variational inequality formulation is proposed to describe the combined model. The streamlined diagonalization algorithm is presented to solve the combined model. The multimodal transportation network based on Yangtze River Delta economic circle is presented to illustrate the proposed method. The results show the efficiency of the proposed model.

Developed countries pay great attention to Public transport (PT), their development and evaluation as it is one of the bases of success for that nation. In the West Bank (WB), the PT is generally neglected and worn out. There is no periodic study about the quality of the services provided and the passengers’ satisfaction and their needs. Despite of the relatively large number of daily passengers, only 19% of them use buses because of their lack of confidence in the service. This study aims to investigate passengers’ satisfaction in the PT to identify strengths and weaknesses and evaluating their Level of Service (LOS), which consists of reliability and performance. Required data were collected through field surveys in the WB governorates, from the relevant official authorities or previous studies, interviews with service providers, and a questionnaire to measure the satisfaction of passengers for all intercity bus lines (22 lines). Generally, the PT system in Palestine is inefficient and non-productive. There is an imbalance between demand and supply, imbalance between number of buses and shared taxis, poor infrastructure, low LOS, non-efficient management, and number of ridership is low; therefore, the productivity is low. Passenger trust in buses should be revamped by modernizing the fleet, adopting a regular schedule, providing a smart service system, and providing services at all times where demand is available. It is also essential to carry out periodic studies for this sector and collect statistical information.

For the past five years, the business performance of intercity and interprovincial bus company (AKAP) was fluctuated. Even in the last two years, the trend was decreasing due to the increasing number of bus passengers who were switching to other modes of transportation. The customer satisfaction index (CSI) score of Bus as public transportation is the lowest compared to CSI of other public transport such as train, and airplane. This study aims at examining the impact of service quality on growth of AKAP public bus company’s business performance in West Java. The research method used was a quantitative method using a survey questionnaire of 80 companies in the province of West Java. The results show that service orientation has a significant impact on the AKAP's business performance growth. Further analysis shows that both reliability and responsiveness are the main factors in building service quality orientation. Thus, the AKAP bus managers need to focus more on competing with other transportation mode. The role of the government is also needed to develop the AKAP bus managers’capability in order to build an efficient transportation system.

Passengers’ boarding time interval is of great significance for analysis of collective mobility behaviors. In this paper, we empirically investigate the boarding time interval of mobility behaviors based on three large-scale reservation records of passengers traveling by three different types of transportation from a travel agency platform, namely airplane, intercity bus and car rental. The statistical results show that similar properties exist in the passengers’ mobility behaviors, for example, there are similar burstiness [Formula: see text] and memory [Formula: see text] for different time interval distribution, which indicates that the passengers’ mobility behaviors are periodical. Furthermore, we present a probability model to regenerate the empirical results by assuming that the passengers’ next boarding time interval will generate between a short time of 1–7 days with probability [Formula: see text] and a random long time with probability [Formula: see text]. The simulation results show that the presented model can reproduce the burstiness and memory effect of the boarding time interval when [Formula: see text] for three empirical datasets, which suggests the periodical behaviors with the probability [Formula: see text]. This work helps in deeply understanding the regularity of human mobility behaviors.

The modern way of life is conditioned by fast transportation. This, in turn, requires integration of many additional contents that opens the opportunity to the passengers for quick access to their target-food, accommodation, entertainment, communication. The distance of the existing railway station (3.7 km from the city centre) makes it hardly accessible to the population, therefore it is neglected and the rail traffic in the city of Kumanovo is minimized. On the other hand, the bus station has a good location, but the building is in poor condition, which impedes the functioning of the city and intercity bus service. Adjacent to the existing bus station, a segment of the railroad from the proposed "Corridor 8" transits, which opens the question of the importance of rail transport and its impact in the further development of the city. These considerations clearly indicate the need to establish an integrated transport hub, whose proposed location touches the downtown area, but is still in the zone between the city and the suburbia, which includes adjoining contents such as: retail, hospitality and culture, which will help achieve the goal of the transportation hub as a starting point of development of a new city nucleus, a new point in the city.

Transit smart card records detail travel information of passengers, which provides abundant data for analyzing public travel patterns. Regular travelers’ information extracted from smart card data (SCD) have been extensively analyzed. However, rare studies have been devoted to non-roundtrips, which account for a relatively large portion of the overall transit ridership, especially in metropolises such as Beijing. This study aimed to reveal the non-roundtrip pattern using the passenger travel data obtained from SCD. Weekly non-roundtrip SCD were used to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution patterns of overall and typical non-roundtrips’ origins and destinations (ODs). Also, subway data and bus data were combined and visualized in geographic information system (GIS). The reasons for frequent non-roundtrips generated in the metropolitan city were inferred. The results demonstrate some detected spatiotemporal patterns of non-roundtrips. It is not surprising that a large proportion of non-roundtrips serve as a rail access to intercity, but there are still many trips of this kind showing a commuting pattern. Merging SCD with bus data, the results also reveal that passengers may choose other modes as a substitute return transportation option due to rail fare or overcrowding problem. This study focused on irregular trips normally neglected in the literature and found that the number of these trips is too large to be ignored in a diversified city like Beijing. Meanwhile, the travel patterns of non-roundtrips extracted can be used to direct the operation strategies for both rail and bus. The research framework raised here could be applied in other cities and comparative analysis could be done in the future.

Public transport safety is still an issue that needs to be studied by bureaucrats and researchers. This is because public bus accidents are still quite high. This is because many families, involved in traffic accidents, are shocked by the accident. Therefore, the problem of perception of a safe bus needs to be studied. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception model of a safe public bus. Mathematical modeling based on the parameters that have been studied was selected first. While the second objective was to determine the importance value of the parameters that are an indication of the perception of the safety of intercity bus public transportation. This research is a type of perceptual one where the data is taken from the relevant respondents. The method of data collection was carried out using a questionnaire with respondents from bus company owners, drivers, and passengers in the province of East Java, Indonesia. Respondents were asked to answer questions related to the variables of income, speed, comfort, and safety. The method of conjoint analysis is used. The first stage is the result of modeling the perception of a safe bus. Further analysis is carried out to obtain the importance value of the parameters. The result of this research is a utility model for the perception of a safe bus, which is expressed by the equation U, where the variables include income, speed, comfort, and safety. The highest level of importance is income 33.29 %, followed by the security variable with a weight of 25.39 %. This shows that the income factor is a top priority for drivers and management of bus company owners, while road safety is second only to income. In other words, respondents' perceptions are more concerned with income, while safety is still a non-priority factor.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the description of the shedule development particularities and a drivers’ work and rest schedule adjustment in an organized children carriage considering their age in an intercity connection. During the interurban transportation after first four hours and thirty minutes of uninterrupted driving, a special break for the rest is provided for drivers on the way lasting at least 45 minutes. This period can be divided into two or more parts, but the first part should last at least 15 minutes and the last one at least thirty minutes. At the same time children of different age groups perceive long distant travels variously due to their physiological development. The restriction of physical activity during a long time may have a negative impact on children’s physical and mental state. Children may have some problems with behavior control during long distant travels, it may lead to a travel rules violation, they remove their seat belts, start to walk around the bus, etc. The dependencies of the covered distance and time on a children’s age were identified based on the study results of the intercity children carriage process. The findings may be applied in a bus route timetables development, a drivers’ work and rest schedule adjustment during an organized children carriage in an intercity connection and also when planning transport infrastructure objects along popular tourist routes or frequently used transportation directions for students. The purpose of article is the description of a traffic schedule particularities development and a drivers’ work and rest schedule adjustment in an organized children carriage considering their age in an intercity connection. The scientific novelty lies in methodology used for a drivers’ work and rest schedule adjustment which depends on a distance and travel time in an organized children carriage by buses in an intercity connection and on the age of the carried children.Materials and techniques. While writing the article the methods of a passengers carriage theory, a statistical and systematic analysis, a transport process theory and also some other scientific methods and techniques were used.Results. The results have advisory nature and are proposed for use in a drivers’ work and rest schedule adjustment in an organized children carriage considering their age in an intercity connection.Discussion and conclusion. For the carriage of different aged children the scheme of traffic according to a children age group should be chosen. 4 age groups of children each of which correspond to a certain traffic and rest time on the way were identified during the study.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation replaced the quick-response-based long-distance component in its statewide model by integrating the new national long-distance passenger travel demand model in a new statewide model and calibrating it to long-distance trips observed in cell phone origin–destination data. The national long-distance model is a tour-based simulation model developed from FHWA research on long-distance travel behavior and patterns. The tool allows the evaluation of many policy scenarios, including fare or service changes for various modes, such as commercial air, intercity bus, Amtrak rail, and highway travel. The availability of this tool presents an opportunity for state departments of transportation in developing statewide models. Commercial big data from cell phones for long-distance trips also pre-sents an opportunity and a new data source for long-distance travel patterns, which previously have been the subject of limited data collection, in the form of surveys. This project is the first to seize on both of these opportunities by integrating the national long-distance model with the new Tennessee statewide model and by processing big data for use as a calibration target for long-distance travel in a statewide model. The paper demonstrates the feasibility of integrating the national model with statewide models, the ability of the national model to be calibrated to new data sources, the ability to combine multiple big data sources, and the value of big data on long-distance travel, as well as important lessons on its expansion.

Road transport is the most important component of the unified transport system and industrial infrastructure of the country. Its stable and effective functioning is a prerequisite for the structural transformation of the economy into a digital one, which is marked as “Digital Kyrgyzstan”. In this regard, it became necessary to calculate the economic feasibility and optimization of the number of bus trips based on digital technologies aimed at creating a rational organized system of public transport, which in turn will be practical and convenient to use, as well as fast, safe and affordable. In the article, based on the proposed: an architectural scheme of digital transformation of the intercity passenger transportation management system and a mathematical model of 1 pilot month of work, the following are determined: revenue, costs and profit before and after the implementation of the system for each day of the pilot month. All the results obtained give reason to believe that the implementation of this system is effective, thereby substantiating the rationality of this approach in obtaining “digital profit”. The use of digital technologies in this area contributes to the growth of national prosperity and transparency in the management of the transport system and industrial infrastructure of both public and private transport in the republic

The article discusses the main aspects of the architectural and planning organization of service facilities for transport hubs. The main blocks of the functional planning structure of transport interchange hubs (T.I.HUB), elements of their structure and principles of placement in the structure of large cities have been formed in the center, in the structure of residential areas, in historical city centers, and in the contact zone of urban and suburban development. The work substantiates the relevance of the development regarding the design of transport hubs (T.HUB)s in the structure of modern cities, which are constantly and systematically developing, increasing the need for the transportation of an increasing number of passengers. The dynamic development of modern infrastructural cities, especially large ones, require a revision of the norms and dimensions of transfer stations, the landing front of stops, the reorganization of the inner spaces of the transport hubs (T.HUB), etc. The design and construction of transport hubs can be carried out in a completely new construction, reconstruction or reconstruction with modernization, or in the difficult conditions. Already today, many big cities are suffering from traffic jams bordering on collapse, especially during peak hours. Therefore, this problem must be solved in all possible ways, especially attention should be paid to the architectural and planning organization of service facilities, which are located at the transport hub (T.HUB). A transport interchange hub is a nodal element of the city's planning structure, which allows organizational transfer of passengers between various types of urban and external (intercity, international) passenger transport or between different lines of the same type of transport in an urban structure. For example, transport hubs (T.HUB) are possible in the structure of the functioning of a railway transport hub from one railway line to another. Transport interchange hubs (T.I.HUB)can be specialized or multifunctional, and include a number of facilities for passing passenger services and social infrastructure: accumulative lobbies in front of the entrance group ("entrance" - "exit"), a foyer with digital validation of electronic tickets and cards on different routes of passengers; cargo and goods rooms for baggage claim (at airports, river stations and railway stations); customs premises (if we are talking about international flights departing from transport hubs (T.HUB); intercepting parking lots and taxi and bus stands; public service facilities; shops, catering establishments; financial institutions, etc. As noted earlier, we can talk about six types of transport hubs (T.HUB) in the structure of the designed and existing nodes on land, underground, river, rail, sea and air transport. Thus, modern transport hubs can be organized not only in the city structure, but also in ports, railways. railway stations and airports, which can significantly expand their typological range of service facilities.

A procedure is presented for evaluating the performance in terms of driving style of public transport bus drivers, within the context of a programme for energy savings in urban public transportation. The purpose of this evaluation is that of providing suitable tools for training of personnel with the objective of attaining more energy-efficient driving styles and improving driving quality. Quality can be defined as the combination of an energy saving driving style with a behaviour that is respectful of the environment (noise, pollution and safety) and of the vehicle and is comfortable for the passengers as well. Economical driving provides direct savings in fuel of up to 25 per cent as well as indirect savings deriving from general improvements in quality; a more controlled driving style can also be accompanied by reductions in air pollution and noise emission. The procedure utilizes a fuzzy logic approach and can be implemented aboard vehicles in an automatic monitoring system, the sole requirement being that of measuring the instantaneous road speed of the vehicle and its current load. The procedure has been developed and validated on the basis of data coming from a test campaign carried out on vehicles equipped with automatic and manual transmission, operating over both urban and intercity itineraries in three different cities, and adopting different driving styles with different drivers. By analysing the results, in relation to the itinerary and conditions of traffic, stops, load, etc., it can be determined which conditions, for each driver, lead to either good or poor performance. Such specific information, together with assessment of the overall driving style, provides useful indications for training drivers, both through training programmes with specific itineraries and trials, and through self-learning processes with the procedure implemented using an on-board monitoring system.

Abstract: This paper presents the design of guide way for BRTS. There is some debate about the best type of guide way for BRTS. Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) is a high user capacity transport system which delivers very fast, reliable, comfort and cost effective mode of movement for the customers. Since BRTS run in their exclusive lanes, there are very less chances of congestion and accidents. Even due to application of green technologies, air and noise pollution are very less. BRTS has proper provisions for right of ways, easy boarding and alighting facilities for passengers. Moreover with the use of artificial intelligence BRTS stands out quite better than other public transport systems. The first BRTS was implemented in Curitiba, Brazil in the name of Rede Integrada de Transporte in 1974. This service inspired many services around the world. As of November 2019, about 45 million passengers use BRTS every day. Government of India has emphasized on creating SMART cities. In this regard, BRTS will definitely ensure to achieve a good smart city in terms of public transportation system. With increasing population and growing demand for speedy intercity and intra-city transportation services, BRTS will play a major role. This project examines two major cities in Andhra Pradesh; Rajahmundry and Kakinada, both the cities have been declared as a smart cities in 2018, by Govt. of India. It also tries to find out new approaches in terms of cost, quality and time of BRTS in future The speed and delay studies should be helpful for the further alternate route. This work includes alternative routes, proposing foot over bridges where it is needed, intersection models, traffic behaviour in BRTS corridor.

The research of the article is aimed at highlighting the essence and features of the functioning of the car insurance market in Ukraine. The study found that motor insurance is associated with profound economic and social changes in society due to mass motorization, the growth of the car fleet and traffic intensity, as well as huge material losses as a result of road accidents. It should be noted that freight transport is developing quite rapidly both within the country and abroad. At the same time, an increase in the number of intercity bus transportation, excursion and tourist bus services has been established, and as a result, international motor tourism is growing. It is proved that these factors contribute to the growth of accidents, losses in the transportation of goods, increase accidents with passengers and pedestrians on highways and, accordingly, material and social losses of society, population, commercial and government agencies. It is substantiated that insurance in general and civil liability insurance, as its integral part, is an infrastructure that helps to increase the efficiency of all areas of business. This determines the importance of the development of all types of insurance in Ukraine, taking into account the process of integration into the world community. It is established that the development of insurance market in our country should be based on the study and balanced use of experience of industrialized countries with long traditions in the insurance market, legal regulation of insurers and diversification of various types of insurance. However, it should be borne in mind that the world community has invented universal means of compensation, which is the most popular type of liability insurance worldwide – is the insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles. It provides for the payment of monetary compensation to the victim in the amount that would be collected from the owner of the vehicle on a civil lawsuit in favor of a third party for damage to life and health, as well as for damage or loss of property due to an accident or other road – transport accident due to the fault of the insured. Given the state and prospects of motorization in our country, as well as foreign experience in insurance market, we can say with confidence that liability insurance is one of the leading areas among other types of insurance. However, in its organization and implementation there are many different problems of legal, social, economic and organizational type. Recommendations on the prospects for the development of civil liability insurance of owners of land vehicles in Ukraine are given.

Federal funding for intercity bus programs is available to states under Section 5311 (f) of the Federal Transit Act. The act requires that 15% of all federal funding for public transportation in nonurbanized areas be expended for intercity bus transportation, unless the state governor certifies that the intercity bus service needs are adequately met. A demand-supply-deficiency analysis was undertaken to assess whether intercity bus needs are being met in Illinois. The analysis indicates that some larger city-to-city routes could use additional service. In addition, many smaller urban places have no access to rail or bus service, especially in southern Illinois, and many of these have no Section 5311(f) recipients. Without state support for intercity bus programs, it is unlikely that people in these places will have access to such service in the foreseeable future.

A review of cities currently being served by the intercity bus industry was also made. General-population respondents indicated that they would be more likely to ride a bus if there were more express bus service, better station locations, and higher air and train fares. Bus riders indicated they would ride more often if there were improved security measures at stations and on buses, more leg room, more comfortable seats, adherence to schedules, and lower bus fares. Government-owned multimodal transportation facilities, operating subsidies for rural routes, and billboards and signs for advertising intercity service were suggested by bus companies as ways to aid the industry. The review of cities currently served by the intercity bus industry revealed that only 21 Texas cities with populations over 5,000 were further than 16.1 km (10 mi) from intercity bus service, and that most of these cities had access to transit service to an intercity bus stop.

Streszczenie:
For intercity railway transportation enterprises, a reasonable intercity train operation plan is not only the foundation of the intercity railway operation organization, but also the key to the sustainable development of the intercity railway (ICR). In this paper, taking into account the economic benefits of railway transportation enterprises and the social benefits of passenger travel, an optimization model is established with the intercity railway train operation plan as the research object. The model aims to minimize the operating cost of railway transportation enterprises and minimize the travel time of passengers, and considers constraints such as passenger seat utilization, passenger flow, train frequency, and stops. It is a multi-objective optimization model that accumulates two objectives by introducing the passenger time value coefficient. According to the characteristics of the model, a genetic algorithm is designed to solve the model. Taking the Beijing-Xiong’an Intercity Railway (BXICR) as an example, the “smart business card” of China’s high-speed railway, two scenarios of passenger time value are designed, and the optimized train operation plan is obtained according to the existing OD passenger flow data, which verifies the effectiveness of the model and algorithm. The results show that compared with the original train operation plan, the number of stops per train of the optimized train operation plan under the two passenger time value scenarios decreased by 8.8% and 14.9%, the operating cost of the enterprise decreased by 7.7% and 1.6%, the travel time of passengers decreased by 0.7% and 1.5%, respectively. Under the condition of meeting the demand of passenger flow, the optimized train operation plan can effectively reduce the operating cost of enterprises and save the travel time of passengers, which is conducive to the sustainable development of intercity railways.

The speed of communication on any route, directly and indirectly through the function of redistribution of traffic volumes, causes an increase in the number of movements, traffic volumes, transport work, in the network of the appropriate type, at the same time the values of the medium system coefficient of passenger capacity use and the number of vehicles may vary both in the direction of the increase and vice versa. The results of the calculations of the basic parameters of the functioning of intercity passenger route systems for various values of the speed of communication on intercity railway routes established the appropriate mathematical model for determining the parameters of this passenger communication. The conducted analysis of simulation methods has determined the possibility of using for the determination of quantitative parameters for changing the basic indicators of the operation of the system of intercity passenger route methods of mathematical and computer simulation. The results of the work determined the basic indicators of the functioning of the system of intercity passenger route transportation. These indicators include: the number of movements in the network; volume of transportation; transfer ratio; transport work; average distance of the route; average distance of the network ride; medium coefficient of passenger capacity use; required number of buses / cars. According to the analysis of the methods and models of calculations of the basic indicators of the functioning of the system of intercity passenger traffic, it was assumed that the change in the quantitative characteristics of the parameters entering into the system or the quantitative characteristics of its elements may lead to a change in the quantitative indicators of the functioning of the system itself or its individual elements. The passenger economy of the Ukrainian railway in the context of long-distance and suburban services has been analyzed. The basis of long-distance research is the share of certain categories (night speed, regional, night express, high-speed express Intercity+ and Intercity). Particular attention is paid to the distance of night high-speed trains over 1000 km within Ukraine. Regional routes are distinguished by length and route in different economic regions. This contributes to the selection of cities in nearby regions between which there is no direct connection. To characterize high-speed trains of the Intercity+ category, speed indicators are used, which allows to determine the best routes by speed. The reasons for the slow movement of some express trains have also been identified. The material shows the difference between the categories Intercity+ and Intercity. Only one of the class of night passenger trains is briefly mentioned, which is considered to be the most picturesque from the tourist point of view. Suburban service after the resumption of passenger traffic in early summer 2020 is described in detail. The most important indicator of this analysis is the number of suburban train pairs that were destined for transportation. Stations in each region are presented in tabular format, from which the movement to the endpoints is carried out. During the writing of the article, the largest passenger-intensive points were investigated in terms of the number of suburban transport flights and their administrative-territorial subordination to certain units was identified. In addition, areas with relatively low traffic of suburban trains and the causes of this socio-economic phenomenon are given. The problem of elongated routes serving sparsely populated areas, especially in the regions of southern Ukraine, has been identified. On the example of the longest suburban service, a human-geographical approach to reducing the number of stops has been proposed.

This paper investigates passenger loyalty to intercity bus services and identifies important factors influencing loyalty. The relationships between passenger loyalty and other latent factors, including satisfaction, service value, service quality, sacrifice, switching costs, attractiveness of competitors, and trust are hypothesized and tested. Factor analysis is used to extract the latent service quality factors from a large number of service quality indicators. Structural equation models are then developed to elucidate the causal relationships of passenger loyalty and the latent factors. The empirical results have confirmed the proposed hypotheses. Satisfaction has the most significant influence on passenger loyalty. Service value, switching costs, and trust have direct and positive effects on loyalty, whereas attractiveness of competitors has a direct negative effect. The indirect effect of service quality, via service value and satisfaction, on passenger loyalty is also significant. From the empirical results, managerial implications for the bus carriers are addressed.

<p>The most common mode of intercity passenger transportation in Turkey is coach transport. This study focuses on regulations adopted in 2003 on scheduled intercity coach market and the consequences of these regulations, and offers several insights on the future of the sector. Due to regulations adopted and increased intermodal competition, the number of companies in the market has dropped to a certain extent. It is predicted that intermodal competition will increase further in the coming years, leading to a further decline in the number of companies, which will in turn intensify collaboration among companies. In a nutshell, the lessons to be taken from the Turkish experiment can be summarized as follows: It is possible to carry out intercity transportation unsubsidized. Having a free transportation market is key to the development of the market. Intermodal and potential competition is crucial for passenger transportation.</p>

It is proved that when changing the parameters of the distribution of passenger traffic between automobile and railway routenet works, the quantitative mean values ofthe average-length of the route and mediumnet work range of the ride change by less than 0,01%, and the transfer ratioremainsun changed. It is determined that changing the speed of the ride is such a factor that does not affect the quantitative values of the number of movements in the network, the transfer ratio, the average distance of the trip. At the same time, the existence of a polynomial dependence of the average coefficient of passenger capacityuse and the number of buses on the speed of route/network rides has been proved. The functions of redistribution of volumes of transportation in relation to any route of different types of transport, with a constant total number of movements, causes an increase in the number of transported passengers, the transport operation of the route network, the average coefficient of passenger capacity, the number of vehicles. The paper examined issues of studying the basis of intercity passenger transport routes. It is established that the system of intercity passenger route transportation is not isolated. This causes the influence of the environment on the quantitative indicators of the parameters of the functioning of these systems, which is due to the possibility of quantitative changes in the parameters entering the system. It was determined that the current state of scientific approaches does not fully take into account the interrelation of elements of the intercity passenger route system when calculating the basic parameters of the functioning of this system. It is proved that the issues of further development of scientific approaches regarding the features of accounting for the mutual influence of the quantitative characteristics of the elements of the system of intercity passenger route traffic is relevant and subject to study. Taking into account the geographical location of transport hubs, their social and economic characteristics are used as factors of attractiveness or resistance to passenger correspondence, which affects the parameters of the elements of operation of vehicles. At the same time, at this stage of development of scientific approaches to the formalization of the parameters of passenger transport correspondence, the complex level of taking into account the flow of technical and economic parameters of driving to meet demand has been insufficiently determined. Therefore, the study of a comprehensive approach to the modeling of passenger transport correspondence, taking into account certain parameters is relevant. The analysis of modern scientific methods for the calculation of passenger transport correspondence during the operation of vehicles revealed that they are not sufficiently studied. This necessitates the conduct of experimental studies of the parameters of the experimental system and the subsequent establishment of correction factors for the known dependencies of the definition of passenger correspondence in the system. It is advisable to gravitational modeling of passenger transport correspondence, as acceptable for research.
