The paper presents an electromagnetic installation for producing vibrations, used in the de-tensioning of welded joints of welded constructions. They are also presented novelty elements regarding the domains of use of these types of installations, as well as the benefit of their use. They are highlighted the component parts of these types of installations. This type of electromagnetic installations can be used at the treatment of welded joints used only on magnetic steels. The results obtained with this type of installations are obvious. This vibration system can be used to de-stress welded joints and can successfully replace other types of conventional heat treatment. The components of this installation were purchased commercially. That makes possible that this type of installation can be easily built. The installation has designed a protection system for high voltages and currents. The main purpose of using this type of installation is to reduce the costs of conventional heat treatment, used at welded metal constructions. The installation can be used without strict protection rules. If we talk about the results, we can say that this type of treatment can bring significant economic benefits.

In accordance with the requirements of PN EN 13201-5 standard for road lighting installation, energy performance indicators should be descripted. In order to calculate energy performance indicators, it is necessary to know the active power of the road lighting system. The above standard does not specify whether active power losses should be taken into account in calculations. The main purpose of the article is to estimate the active power losses in the road lighting installation. The article presents methods for calculating active power losses, taking into account losses in all main elements of the installation. The obtained calculation results show the relationship between active power losses and the power of luminaires, their number and spacing between poles. Calculations of active power losses were made for single-phase and three-phase installations. The active power losses in a three-phase system do not exceed 1.5% and in a single-phase installation they may be greater than 7%. Therefore, in order to obtain exact values of energy performance indicators (and also predict electricity consumption), active power losses should be taken into account in calculations. In addition, a comparative analysis of the effect of luminaires dimming and active power losses on annual CO2 emissions was made. Not taking into account the active power losses in the calculation of the lighting installation’s power, for single-phase installations in particular, understates the calculated value of CO2 emissions by more than 6%.

The method of implementation in community service activities at Tempe producers MSMEs include; Field Observation, Tool Design, Tool Assembly, Tool Testing, Tool Installation, Electricity Installation, Electricity and Operation Training, and MONEV. The results of a series of community service activities that have been carried out are being able to increase the knowledge of all who are on the business purposes to understand how electricity and good installation are save from an unwanted thing about electricity.

During ecological researches and monitoring of the natural aquatic environment it is very often necessary to carry out filtration of water large volumes for extraction on filters the weighed components, and for subsequent analysis of mineral and organic suspension’s structure. The installations applied now for vacuum filtration have a number of essential restrictions. The most important deficiency of existing installations for vacuum filtration is the use of a leak-tight receiver with rigid design. At intensive filtration such receiver has to have a large volume that limits filtration installation’s possibilities for transportation and afield operation. Need of a vacuum pump’s protection against a filtrate intrusion demands constant monitoring for receiver filling at the large filtration volume. During receiver filling the filtration process needs to be interrupted for filtrate removal from the receiver, but sometimes such interruption significantly complicates the filtration process. In this paper is described the developed new mobile installation for continuous vacuum filtration based on a closed cycle water-jet pump for vacuum generation. The proposed installation for vacuum filtration of natural water’s weighed components allows carry out filtration of water large volumes in the continuous mode. The installation hasn’t a leak-tight vacuum receiver so that it has small dimensions.

This work presents an economic analysis of the use of electricity storage in PV installations, based on previously adopted assumptions, i.e., the type and location of the tested facility and comparative variants, divided into the share of the storage in the installation, and the billing system. The work takes into account the share of the energy shield and assumes a consumption limit of 2000 kWh. The cost of building the installation is based on July 2023 prices. The work assumes potential directions of changes in electricity prices, based on which the degree of investment profitability for a given price situation is determined. Depending on the adopted change in the direction of electricity prices, with a low price increase rate, for installations in the new billing system (net-billing), the optimal choice is an installation without energy storage with a power exceeding the actual energy demand. Assuming a high increase in electricity prices, the optimal choice is an installation with energy storage with an installation capacity exceeding the actual demand. For installations billed using the net-metering system, the optimal choice is an installation without storage with an appropriately selected installation power. This article shows how much you can gain after installing a PV installation and not only what costs must be incurred to complete the investment. Profit analysis will enable a more complete assessment of the profitability of investing in PV panels (with or without energy storage). It describes the verification of the profitability of a PV installation for a standard user depending on various types of settlements with the electricity supplier and the lack or installation of an energy-storage facility.

Abstract The purpose of this article is to analyze the efficiency of electricity generation in photovoltaic systems located on the building made on the basis of HIT-IBC cells for multi-family residential buildings. The comparative analysis of the efficiency of electricity generation by photovoltaic (PV) installations made of two cell types -Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin-layer-Interdigitated Back Contact (HIT-IBC) and classical mono-crystalline silicon (mono-Si) - showed that the efficiency of HIT-IBC cells is 60% higher. These cells were selected for use as photo-voltaic systems located on the building to cover the demand for electricity through an exemplary multi-family residential building, consisting of 35 apartments divided into two, three and four-person households. Considering the previous calculations, in which it was shown that a PV installation made of HIT-IBC cells (PV1) is able to generate 192,75 kWh/(m2·y), annual electricity production was calculated by the indicated photovoltaic installation. It was found that the photovoltaic installation located on the roof of the building, based on HIT-IBC cells, will allow to cover the total electricity demand by a selected multi-family building. In addition, the installation’s payback period of 9 years was calculated, which takes a high place in the lifespan of photovoltaic installations of 20-25 years and thus ensuring the economic efficiency of the adopted technical solutions.

The people of Kampung Karet, Nongsa District, most of them still don't understand about electrical installations, the condition of the electrical installation system in people's homes and especially places of worship (mosques) are still many that do not comply with general regulations regarding electrical installations. Apart from that, there are still many connections. -connection of electrical installations carried out by the community itself which does not comply with regulations. Community service by providing counseling and going directly to see the location that is the target of carrying out service activities, namely the Al-Ikhlas mosque. By holding community service (PKM), the residents of Rubber Village will understand how to install electricity properly, correctly and safely. The equipment selected for installation in an electrical installation must meet applicable standards and must be suitable for its environment. Installation of equipment must comply with the provisions in PUIL, and match the equipment manufacturer's instructions. Electrical installations must be regularly inspected and tested for misuse, damage or poor installation, including loose connections. To protect against leakage currents, an ELCB can be installed. In order to achieve an increase in public knowledge and understanding about the importance of electrical hazards, this activity needs to be sustainable.

Abstract In the paper an economic, ecological and energy analysis of a home photovoltaic on grid installation was presented. The increase in ecological awareness of the Polish society contributes to the continuous growth of interest in green energy. However, many people haven’t been aware of the ecological, economic and energy benefits of photovoltaic installations yet, so the following analysis is made. The analysis concerns a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 3.96 kWp located in Ościęciny near Włocławek. The photovoltaic installation consists of 11 monocrystalline panels with a power of 360 Wp, a 4 KTLM Sofar Solar inverter and other necessary components. The first part presents basic issues related to photovoltaic installations. Parameters related to the proper functioning of the photo-voltaic installation were replaced. The analysis of the literature will help to understand the essence of the proper functioning of the photovoltaic installation. In the practical part, an analysis of a selected home photovoltaic installation was carried out. Based on the available data, it has been calculated that the installation will have a payback period of over 9 years. The photovoltaic installation will produce approximately 3 582.61 kWh of electricity and will contribute to the reduction of 70 tons of carbon dioxide during the entire operation.

Traditional Indian screens utilize beautiful intricate patterns derived from nature to attain spatial definition. Even though we utilize them as static objects with rigid boundaries, the beauty of a screen provokes wonder as to what's on the other side. This sparked a question of What if the screen itself was modular? This question became the basis of my thesis exploration. The work is divided into two distinct studies. The first being the exploration of making rigid materials flexible via pattern developed from basic geometry. The second being the application of the first process on a 1:1 scale resulting in an interactive instillation. The final installation demonstrates modularity of pattern in creating a rigid material flexible by defining an urban landscape on Virginia Techs campus.

The purpose of this master thesis has been to explore how Skanska Installation can be organized and managed from a Feedback of experience perspective, and define how an IT solution for knowledge management can be designed by identifying the company's current needs in communications, structural capital and information management. The study follows a deductive approach with a qualitative starting point. Using the literature  studies  the theoretical references were built, which is of great importance when using  a deductive approach. Furthermore the report is based on a case study on two different projects: Herrgården and Nattsländan. With the collected empirical data from the case  study the analysis was carried out with the theoretical framework as a basis. This finally led to the conclusions of the study. The purpose of a communications plan is to show how the communication between employees must be managed to best move the project forward. Emphasis is placed on the formal and informal communication of the company. I encourage to use the IT platform where shared documents are collected and notices of meetings are sent out. The advantage of this is that all information is gathered in one place, the disadvantage is that it is sometimes difficult to get the project participants to use the platform under time constraints. Finally when the project is completed it is important not to lose the knowledge that has been gained while working. It is therefore necessary to consider the transfer of knowledge to facilitate the work in future projects.
Syftet är att ta fram ett underlag på hur Skanska Installation kan organiseras och ledas ur ett Erfarenhetsåterförings- perspektiv samt definiera hur en IT-lösning för kunskapshantering bör utformas genom att identifiera företagets nuvarande behov inom kommunikation, strukturkapital och informationshantering. Studien följer ett deduktivt arbetssätt med en kvalitativ utgångspunkt. Genom litteraturstudier byggdes den teoretiska referensramen upp, som är av stor vikt vid ett deduktivt arbetssätt. Vidare bygger rapporten på en fallstudie av två olika projekt: Herrgården och Nattsländan. Den insamlade empirin från fallstudien analyserades med den teoretiska referensramen som utgångspunkt, vilket ledde fram till studiens slutsatser. En kommunikationsplan visar hur kommunikationen mellan medarbetarna bör skötas för att på bästa sätt föra projektet framåt. Stor vikt läggs vid den formella respektive informella kommunikationen på företaget. Jag uppmuntrar användning av en IT-plattform där gemensamma dokument samlas samt kallelser till möten skickas ut. Fördelen med denna är att all information är samlad på ett och samma ställe, nackdelen är att det ibland är svårt att få projektdeltagare att använda plattformen under tidsbrist. Slutligen när projektet är avslutat gäller det att inte tappa den kunskap man samlat på sig under arbetets gång. Därför är det nödvändigt att tänka på kunskapsåterföring för att kunna underlätta arbetet i framtida projekt.

Technicians who workwith installations of ERP-systems require tools and utilities in order to perform theirwork in a time efficient and qualitative manner.This study is performed at the company Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) inLinköping and has focused on the technical documentation that describes theinstallation process, "IFS Installation Guide". This guide is one of the most importanttools available to facilitate the installation process of the ERP-system, IFSApplications.The purpose of this thesis is to analyze and suggest improvements to the usability andworkflow aspects of IFS Installation Guide. This study is based on seven semistructuredinterviews and one observation with IFS employees working on variousconsultancy services within IFS ‘key regions’. The result from the interviews highlightsa number of problems, which have been analyzed and investigated together withrelevant literature.The findings of this study demonstrate that it is of utmost importance to have a cleartarget audience, easy channels for feedback and that information must be easy tofind in order to develop and maintain high quality in technical documentation.

Airframe noise is currently of a comparable level to engine noise for an aircraft on approach with high-lift devices and landing gears deployed. The landing gears are a large contributor to the overall airframe noise in this situation. Main landing gears are typically installed beneath a lifting wing. The wing surfaces act as scattering surfaces for the noise generated by these landing gears, and the non-uniform flow around the wing affects both the propagation and strength of the noise. This thesis focuses on investigating the propagation and scattering of installed landing gear noise sources. Boundary element methods are capable of computing acoustic scattering by large and complex geometries, such as a complete aircraft geometry. However, due to their use of Green’s functions, flow effects can only be approximated. As a result, the refraction of acoustic waves due to a non-uniform flow is not accounted for. A uniform flow formulation based on a Lorentz-type transform is typically employed with boundary element methods. The effect of neglecting refraction on the propagation and scattering of landing gear noise sources is determined in this thesis. Investigations are conducted using computational aeroacoustic methods that solve the linearised Euler equations, which account for the refraction of acoustic waves due to non-uniform flow. Using computational aeroacoustic methods, the effect of non-uniform flow due to circulation on the acoustic scattering is quantified as the difference in acoustic scattering over uniform and non-uniform base flows. These investigations are conducted using both single frequency and broadband monopole sources, and both single-element and multi-element airfoils. Increasing the angle of attack, increasing the Mach number, and deploying flaps all increase the circulation around the airfoil. The effect of varying these parameters is investigated systematically. It is shown that for a source in the approximate position of a landing gear with flow conditions similar to that of an airliner on approach, the largest difference observed is at single frequencies for an airfoil configuration with a deployed flap. Otherwise, the differences are small, and in some cases so small that they can be considered negligible. It is shown that moving the source to a position above the airfoil and using a higher Mach number gives a larger difference, although this is not representative of a landing gear source. A new method is proposed to generate a broadband input signal for use with a computational aeroacoustic solver that gives a specified power spectral density at a given radial distance from a monopole source. A signal that is equal in power across a specified range of frequencies is generated using this method. The effect on the frequency content of the scattered noise from a broadband source installed beneath a lifting wing is investigated using this generated signal. It is shown for a single-element airfoil that the major contributor to the obtained power spectral density is the distance of the source from the airfoil. Varying the angle of attack and Mach number has only a small additional effect on the power spectral density. It is then shown that flap and slat deployment has a larger effect on the computed power spectral density due to the additional reflective surfaces. Existing boundary element method formulations that estimate uniform and nonuniform flow effects are evaluated for their suitability for landing gear noise scattering predictions. It is shown that the uniform flow formulation is more suitable due to a simplifying assumption made in the derivation of the non-uniform flow formulation. An existing realistic landing gear noise model is coupled with a three-dimensional acoustic boundary element method solver. The landing gear noise model applies scaling laws to directional databases for isolated landing gear components in order to estimate the total far-field noise. The implemented coupling methodology is used to compute the sound pressure level on a ground plane beneath a realistic scattering aircraft geometry. The geometrical effect of flap deployment is investigated using sources of constant strength for each configuration. It is shown that the effect of flap deployment is to increase the sound pressure level directly below and in the region immediately surrounding the aircraft. The effect of source strength reduction due to circulation around a lifting wing is then included in the predictions. This results in a large decrease in the predicted sound pressure level on the ground plane with flap deployment.

Rete Mirabile is my new installation piece combining scientific principles with live computer generated music. The title is a Latin term meaning "Wonderful Net," which I use to refer to the highly convoluted network of biological data that drives my installation. The sonification of data, computer modeling of biological processes, kinetic sculptures, and user interactivity are central parts of the installation. The paper is organized as follows: First, brief history of the forerunners that inspired my work is given. This includes a short discussion on how John Cage and David Tudor influenced current artists works, and how those works have influenced my own work. Then I review current installation works that share similarities with my own. Finally, a detailed discussion and analysis of the construction and function concludes the paper.

Electrical energy storage (EES) has emerged as a key enabler for access to electricity in remote environments and in those environments where other external factors challenge access to reliable electricity. In cold climates, energy storage technologies face challenging conditions that can inhibit their performance and utility to provide electricity. Use of available energy storage technologies has the potential to improve Army installation resilience by providing more consistent and reliable power to critical infrastructure and, potentially, to broader infrastructure and operations. Sustainable power, whether for long durations under normal operating conditions or for enhancing operational resilience, improves an installation’s ability to maintain continuity of operations for both on- and off-installation missions. Therefore, this work assesses the maturity of energy storage technologies to provide energy stability for Army installations in cold regions, especially to meet critical power demands. The information summarized in this technical report provides a reference for considering various energy storage technologies to support specific applications at Army installations, especially those installations in cold regions.

On military installations, an average of 1.2 pounds in food waste is disposed per person per day, accounting for 68% of dining facility (DFAC) refuse and 46% of the total installation refuse stream, making food waste the heaviest portion of installation solid waste. At a single installation, this can contribute up to 1.5 million dollars lost yearly from food waste alone. Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 4715.23 (DoD 2016) establishes policy and prescribes procedures to implement waste management through waste prevention and recycling. The US Army Installation Management Commands (IMCOM) installations have limited resources and limited personnel to study which source reduction methods are optimal to reduce food waste given their unique mission requirements. This study identifies opportunities for optimization and management of solid waste across IMCOM installations. Recycling is not enough to significantly re-duce the economic or environmental costs to the DoD. Army installations pay over $100 million annually in disposal fees. Source reduction is emphasized in regulations but not prioritized in process modifications or technology solutions. Additionally, food waste contributes to excessive global greenhouse gas emissions, which affect global warming and climate change. A multitiered approach is necessary, placing more emphasis on source reduction advances and initiatives.
