The dependence structure between the main energy markets (such as crude oil, natural gas, and coal) and the main stock index plays a crucial role in the economy of a given country. As the dependence structure between these series is dramatically complex and it appears to change over time, time-varying dependence structure given by a class of dynamic copulas is taken into account.To this end, each pair of time series returns with a dynamic t-Student copula is modelled, which takes as input the time-varying correlation. The correlation evolves with the DCC(1,1) equation developed by Engle.The model is tested through a simulation by employing empirical data issued from the Italian Stock Market and the main connected energy markets. The author considers empirical distributions for each marginal series returns in order to focus on the dependence structure. The model’s parameters are estimated by maximization of the log-likelihood. Also evidence is found that the proposed model fits correctly, for each pair of series, the left tail dependence coefficient and it is then compared with a static copula dependence structure which clearly underperforms the number of joint extreme values at a given confidence level.

The paper discusses general theoretical and practical aspects of the emerging probabilistic and non-probabilistic approaches for uncertainty treatment in finite element analysis. Based on rough set theory, a new methodology for structural reliability computation is presented. The uncertain parameters of structures are expressed by rough variables. The structure reliability index is computed by rough function and metric. It is valid, and efficient in physics and geometry. Examples of practical application are given.

In the analysis on whole structural life-cycle, there are two important factors to need to be considered. One is the determination of design service life of structure, and another is design of structure based on service life. After analyzing deeply the influence factors of life-time index, it can be found that the design service life of structure not only depends on technology level, functional requirement and economic cost factors of structures, but also relate with the specific environmental conditions, using conditions and maintenance conditions of structures. So that, an analysis method of determined design service life of structure is given in this paper. For design of structure on service life, from the view of whole structural life-cycle, a probability reliability-based analysis method of structural service life design and re-design is proposed in this paper. By updating constantly design parameters, the correctness of predicted service life is improved gradually.

Generally, the damage of the structure will lead to the discontinuity of the local mode shape, which can be well reflected by the modal curvature of the structure, and the local information entropy of the beam structure will also change with the discontinuity of the mode. In this paper, based on the information entropy theory and combining the advantages of modal curvature index in damage identification of beam structure, the modal curvature utility information entropy index is proposed. The modal curvature curves of nondestructive structures were obtained by fitting the modal curvature curves of damage structures with the gapped smoothing technique to avoid dependence on the baseline data of nondestructive structures. The index comprehensively reflects the damage state of the structure by calculating mutual weight change matrix and the weight-probability coefficient. The performance of the new index was verified by the finite element simulation and model test of simply supported beam, respectively. The results show that the modal curvature utility information entropy index takes advantage of the modal curvature index which is sensitive to damage and can overcome its shortcomings effectively. The index proposed can identify the damage location and damage degree accurately and has certain noise immunity, which provides an effective damage identification indicator for beam structures.

Data warehouses are used to store large amounts of data which is often used for On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP). Short response times are essential for on-line decision support. Common approaches to reach this goal in read-mostly environments are the precomputation of materialized views and the use of index structures. This paper focuses on the use of index structures for supporting fast access to data. The performance of index structures depends on many different parameters. Here, we focus on a set of nine parameters. Two approaches are presented to support the decision making process which index structure should be applied. The first approach is based on classification trees. The second approach uses an aggregation and scatter diagram method. Both approaches are applied to four distinct index structures: a tree-based index structure without aggregated data, a tree-based index structure with aggregated data and two bitmap index structures. This paper presents results of the comparison with both approaches.

Households generally have little or no possibility to unload their real estate risk, which constitutes a large part of  their total portfolio risk. The aim of this study is to analyze a way for households to unload this risk through a socalled index-linked mortgage financed by a fund. The study examines how such a mortgage could be structured, and how it will affect  he bank, the borrower and the fund investor compared to a conventional mortgage. The ominal loan value and therefore also the interest payments of the studied index-linked  ortgage will vary according to the HOX Flats Stockholm Index. Through linear optimization, the structure is optimized from a borrower’s perspective but is subject to a set of constraints on the bank’s and the fund’s profitability and risk levels. The optimal structure is tested through a scenario analysis for different outcomes of apartment price developments and also  hrough a sensitivity analysis to test the effect of shifting conventional mortgage rates. The esults show that the interest rate payment burden will consistently be lower for the index-linked mortgage than for the conventional mortgage. The borrower is insured against house price drops but have to give up some of the upside potential on the property investment if house prices increase. The fund gets a satisfactory payoff in relation to the real estate  arket movement while it is somewhat protected when house prices decline. The bank issuing the mortgages will always experience a profit, but the conventional mortgage is more profitable  or negative index scenarios. Furthermore, the probability of default decreases for the index- inked mortgage holder when prices drop as the loan to value ratio (LTV) always remains  elow 100 percent for index decreases up to 40 percent. The structure is appropriate for  owincome households who will have difficulties paying back the loan when apartment prices  rops. This study contributes to theory in hedging of real estate risk, mortgage risk and  inancial innovation.
Hushåll har generellt få möjligheter att försäkra sig mot husprisrisk som idag utgör en stor del av hushållens totala portföljrisk. Denna studie undersöker en möjlighet för hushåll att försäkra sig mot sådan risk genom ett så kallat index-länkat bolån som finansieras genom en fond. Studien kontrollerar hur ett index-länkat lån kan struktureras och hur det påverkar banken, låntagaren och fondinvesteraren i jämförelse med ett traditionellt bolån. Lånets nominella värde och därmed även räntebetalningarna som är kopplade till lånet varierar enligt förändringar i HOX Flats Stockholm Index. Lånestrukturen optimerats genom linjär optimering med hänsyn till låntagarens lönsamhet och med bivillkor på bankens och fondens risktagande respektive lönsamhet. Den optimerade strukturen testas genom scenarioanalys för olika utfall av lägenhetsprisutveckling samt genom en känslighetsanalys av den  raditionella bolåneräntan. Resultaten visar att den månatliga betalningsbördan för räntebetalningarna alltid kommer att vara lägre för hushåll som håller ett index-länkade bolånet än för de som innehar ett vanligt lån. Det index-länkade lånet innebär att bolånetagare får ge upp en viss del av vinsten då bostadspriser stiger i förhållande till ett vanligt bolån men ger ett skydd mot förluster vid en nedgång i bostadspriser. Fonden visar sig kunna ge en god avkastning i relation till indexets utveckling och ger ett visst skydd mot fall i bostadsmarknaden. Banken som ger ut indexlänkade bolån kommer alltid att gå med vinst, dock är vanliga bolån mer lönsamma vid nedgång i huspriser. Fortsättningsvis minskar risken att ”defaulta” för hushåll med det index-länkade bolånet då huspriser faller eftersom strukturen innebär ett loan to value ratio (LTV) under 100 procent upp till en prisnedgång på 40 procent. Resultatet visar att index-länkade lån passar låginkomsttagare och hushåll som ommer att ha svårt att betala tillbaka sitt lån om bostadspriserna faller. Studien bidrar till teori inom husprisriskförsäkring samt till teori inom finansiell innovation

An index structure is one of the access methods extensively utilized in the data- base area. It defines how access to the data stored in pages on disk is made by permit- ting the retrieval of stored objects through a defined key, that is an attribute of the object. A multi-dimensional (dD) index defines several attributes non-concatenated as its key. This work is devoted to the study of a range of multi-dimensional access methods that could solve the problem of retrieving spatio-temporal objects in object-oriented database applications. The study of some performance parameters and the comparison of five extensions to the selected index method is also included. After presenting a comparison between several dD indexing methods, the R tree structure was selected to index spatio-temporal objects by treating homogeneously both spatial and temporal dimensions. An object-oriented development technique named TDSO was utilized to specify and design the RTree class extensions and the OTree class, which were implemented in C++. A novel approach to building dD indexes which attempts to improve the hit ratio by accommodating spatio-temporal search operators within the indexing mechanism is the first contribution. The development of a family of methods for indexing into dD spatio-temporal data together with preliminary testing of these techniques is the second contribution of the work. We also show a substantial improvement in terms of reduction in wasted space through a redistribution policy and the achievement of better hit ratios and fewer disk accesses in some range searches. In general, we have provided support for the usefulness of the TDSO and object-oriented techniques, which led to a very flexible scheme whereby the indexing structure was easily adapted to our problem.

In a fabrication of micro optical components, the electron-beam (EB) writing technique has potential for submicron patterning and flexibility for the design. Recent progress in the EB writing technique has shown a feasibility of a blazed relief structure1. In a micro Fresnel lens, the blazed relief structure improves the focusing efficiency. An array of such micro Fresnel lenses can be applied for optical instruments including line scanners, copying machines, CCD image sensors, and interfaces in future optical computer.

Ion exchange is often used to alter the index of refraction of a glass to fabricate waveguide and micro-optics devices, usually resulting in a gradient index. However, in order to efficiently design such devices it is necessary to be able to accurately predict and control the ion exchange. One important complication that must be accounted for is the Mixed Mobile Ion Effect (MMIE), also known as the Mixed Alkali Effect, in which many of the glass properties vary from additivity when two species of monovalent cations are present. This effect, although extensively documented, is poorly understood. As a result, parameters and conditions for ion exchanges are usually determined through a tedious trial-and-error process. We have found that insight into ion-exchange processes, including the MMIE, can be gained from studies of glass structure. We have studied silver-for-sodium exchange in a series of aluminosilicate glasses, commercially important for ion-exchanged waveguides. In this work we relate the results of our previous structural studies to MMIE and the concentration dependence of the diffusion coefficient.

This technical report documents the second of a two-phase research and development (R&D) study in support of the development of a combined Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) methodology that accommodates geotechnical as well as structural design limit states for design of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) reinforced concrete, hydraulic navigation structures. To this end, this R&D effort extends reliability procedures that have been developed for other non-USACE structural systems to encompass USACE hydraulic structures. Many of these reinforced concrete, hydraulic structures are founded on and/or retain earth or are buttressed by an earthen feature. Consequently, the design of many of these hydraulic structures involves significant soil structure interaction. Development of the required reliability and corresponding LRFD procedures has been lagging in the geotechnical topic area as compared to those for structural limit state considerations and have therefore been the focus of this second-phase R&D effort. Design of an example T-Wall hydraulic structure involves consideration of five geotechnical and structural limit states. New numerical procedures have been developed for precise multiple limit state reliability calculations and for complete LRFD analysis of this example T-Wall reinforced concrete, hydraulic structure.

The present study examines the relationships between structure (floristic composition, dendrometric parameters), diversity (diversity and evenness indexes) of urban forest park stands and the ecological (soil fertility, soil moisture), environmental factors (air pollution). The study is based on the forest park stands inventory data, performed from 2012 to 2017 in Kryvyi Rih City, Central Ukraine. The floristic compositions of the urban forest park stands are poor. There are only 23 species that belong to 14 families and 12 genera. More families were represented by at least more than 2% of taxon diversity. While Ulmaceae (2 genera, 4 species–17,39 %), Fabaceae (3 genera, 2 species–17,39 %), Aсеrасеае (1 genera, 4 species–17,39 %) were the most representative families. It was established that at forest park the values of stand density varied from 490 to 660 trees*ha-1, stem heights were from 26 to 31 m, stem diameters were from 13 to 17 cm, stand basal area were from 32 to 49 m2*ha-1, stand volume were from 200 to 415 m3*ha-1. the values of relative stem heights were from 0,63 to 0,82 m*year-1, relative stem diameters were from 0,31 to 0,43 cm*year-1, relative stand basal area were from 0,80 to 1,19 m2*ha-1*year-1, relative stand volume were from 5,45 to 10,28 m3*ha-1*year-1. The varied values of the forest park stands index (Shannon-Wiener diversity index from 0,75 to 1,61, Pielou‟s evenness index from 0,53 to 0,86, Simpson‟s diversity from 0,24 to 0,60, Margalef‟s diversity index from 0,87 to 6,97) indicate the ecological instability of these woody plant communities. Current state of the urban forest park stands determined by the combined influence of ecological (soil fertility, soil moisture) and environmental factors (air pollution).
