Streszczenie:
Strange Tales from Liaozhai is a representative work of the Zhiguai Chuanqi of Chinese classical literature, and the writing of horror stories is one of its most essential parts, which contains adequate meaning, showing its rich details and vivid writing characteristics, which also reflects a certain extent of the author, Pu Songling's unique aesthetic and value orientation. This paper analyzes the setting of the time and space environment of the original text, the use of the third-person limited angle of view in the narrative, and the selection of horror images, respectively, from the scene of the incident, the subject of experience and the object of experience in the horror story. This paper analyzes the original texts of Strange Tales from Liaozhai by summarizing writing techniques of horror stories in work to explore the process of creating the sense of horror in Strange Tales from Liaozhai and how the author uses the original source of human fear to create a horror story. It reveals the alienation and abnormality of time and space, the immersive sense of subjective, limited perspective, and the deadly threat behind horrific imagery. While appreciating the artistic beauty and realizing the diversity of stories types of this work, its implicit humanistic concern is not ignored.

Streszczenie:
This scholarly investigation aims to meticulously examine the various mechanisms employed by British science fiction writer Neal Asher in his works, including the Transformation trilogy (2015–17), Lockdown Tales (2020), and Lockdown Tales 2 (2023), to convey the erosion of humanity following profound physiological and cognitive changes. This research highlights how Asher skillfully combines elements of Lovecraftian grotesqueness with intricate portrayals of physical horror, thereby challenging conventional categorizations. These narratives feature a diverse ensemble of human and non-human protagonists, each subjected to transformative biotechnological, computational, and psychological enhancements. These processes raise questions about the feasibility of preserving even a semblance of humanity in an overwhelmingly advanced, distinctly post-human cosmological environment. While both biotechnological and Lovecraftian modes of horror explore humanity’s insignificance within a vast, indifferent, and often malevolent universe, Asher’s body of work consistently delves into the theme of how humans can retain their inherent humanity in the face of monstrous metamorphosis. Additionally, this investigation elucidates how such transformations give rise to the emergence of the “other” within oneself and the monstrous “Other” that takes center stage in the narrative. By exploring these themes, this study contributes to the scholarly discourse on the intersection of horror, transformation, and the preservation of humanity in science fiction literature.

Streszczenie:
At the beginning of his Creole opus The Grandissimes, George Washington Cable refers to Louisiana as “A land hung in mourning, darkened by gigantic cypresses, submerged; a land of reptiles, silence, shadow, decay”. This anti-pastoral view of Louisiana as an ecosystem of horrific nature and the very human melancholy it breeds is one that has persisted in popular American culture to the present day. However, the literature of Louisiana itself is marked by its creativity in blending elements of folktales, fairy tales, and local color. This paper proposes to examine the transhuman, or the transcendence of the natural by means of supernatural transformation, in folk horror tales of Louisiana. As the locus where the fairy tale meets the burgeoning Southern Gothic, these tales revolve around a reworking of what Vladimir Propp refers to as transfiguration, the physical and metaphysical alteration of the human into something beyond the human. The focus of this paper will be on three recurring figures in Louisiana folk horror: yellow fever, voodoo, and the Devil. Drawing upon works including Alcée Fortier’s collection of Creole folktales Louisiana Folktales (1895), Dr. Alfred Mercier’s “1878”, and various newspaper tales of voodoo ceremonies from the ante- and post-bellum periods, this article brings together theorizations about the fairy tale from Vladimir Propp and Jack Zipes and historiological approaches to the Southern Gothic genre to demonstrate that Louisiana, in its multilingual literary traditions, serves as a nexus where both genres blend uncannily together to create tales that are both geographically specific and yet exist outside of the historical time of non-fantastic fiction. Each of these figures, yellow fever, voodoo, and the Devil, challenges the expectations of what limits the human. Thus, this paper seeks to examine what will be termed the “Louisiana gothic”, a particular blend of fairy-tale timelessness, local color, and the transfiguration of the human. Ultimately, the Louisiana gothic, as expressed in French, English, and Creole, tends toward a view of society in decay, mobilizing these elements of horror and of fairy tales to comment on a society that, after the revolution in Saint-Domingue, the Louisiana Purchase, and the Civil War, was seen as falling into inevitable decline. This commentary on societal decay, expressed through elements of folk horror, sets apart Louisiana gothic as a distinct subgenre that challenges conventions about the structures and functions of the fairy tale.

This work aims to find the restricted terror literature field in Brazil; for this, we analyzed the horror effects present in three tales of the author Amândio Sobral: O homem que matou um morto, A estranha cavalgada de Ivan Palinskyand A podridão viva, these stories present in the work Contos Exóticos, published in 1934. For the realization such intent, the dissertation is divided into four chapters. In the first, Tale: a genre that says a lot in a few words, we analyze the theories of the story in order to point out the main characteristics of this genre. We rely here on considerations made by theorists such as Julio Cortazar, Ricardo Piglia and Edgar Allan Poe. In the second chapter, horror aesthetic variations, we analyze the fantastic genre and its relationship with the unusual, gothic, horror, the grotesque and the sublime. For this we use the theories of Marcelo Briseno Marques de Melo, Maurício Cesar Menon, Wolfgang Kayser, Tzvetan Todorov and Lainister de Oliveira Esteves. The third chapter, Amândio Sobral: a seemingly text out of context, in turn, has the purposeof presenting the author and his context and point out some of its predecessors literary influences regarding the use of the horror and the fantastic in literature Brazil, using this aspect, the reflections of Antonio Candido, Alfredo Bosi, Randal Johnsonand Luis Bueno. At last, Suspense, fear and horror: the tales of Amândio Sobral, we present the analysis of the works and the strategies employed by the author to generate the horror effect and fear in his short stories, using, for this, the H.P. Lovecraft considerations, Alcides Ribeiro, Gaston Bachelard and Benedito Nunes
Lovecraft, Alcídes Ribeiro, Gaston Bachelard e Benedito Nunes

In my thesis I argue that the return of the religious in contemporary culture has been in two forms the rise of so-called fundamentalisms in the established faiths-Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, even Buddhist-and the rise of a New Age style spirituality that draws from aspects of those faiths even as it produces something distinctively different. I argue that this shift both produces post-modern media culture, and is itself always-already mediated through the realm of the fictional. Secular and profane are always entangled within one another, a constant and pervasive media presence that modulates the way that contemporary subjects experience themselves and their relationship to the spiritual. I use popular culture as an entry point, an entry point that can presume neither belief nor unbelief in its audiences, showing that it is 'unreal' texts such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Matrix and so on that we find religious symbols and ideas refracted through a postmodernist sensibility, with little regard for the demands of 'real world' epistemology. I argue that it is in this interplay between traditional religions and New Age-ised spirituality in popular culture that the sacred truly finds itself in postmodernity.

Streszczenie:
The last couple of years have seen a surge in the quality of on-site multiplayer virtual reality experiences. The shift to standalone VR headsets, the decrease in latency and the increase in reliability of rendering VR content have all benefited the rise of VR entertainment parks. The next frontier, however, seems to be the inclusion of sensor data (e.g., electrodermal activity signals) to aid the creation of adaptive VR experiences that are equally immersive for all users. If we can assess the specific impact certain stimuli have on the user during an immersive experience, creators will not only be able to create more engaging content but also design feedback loops to bring to users personalized VR experiences in real time. The current study takes a vital step in this direction by measuring electrodermal activity (EDA) to differentiate between stress responses to visual, audio, and audio-visual stimuli in a haunted VR kitchen game. The study leverages data from 13 participants who underwent a 40-minute-long virtual reality experience. The analysis suggests that relying solely on cleaned EDA data to differentiate between stress and no-stress conditions may not be effective, despite subjective reports of such distinctions. However, a more detailed analysis of EDA features (i.e., EDA peak amplitude and SCR peak amplitude) reveals the ability to not only differentiate between the impact of various stimuli modalities (audio, visual, and audio-visual) on stress responses but also discern between individuals’ responses. These findings underscore the imperative for adaptive VR experiences tailored to the unique responses of individual users, pointing towards a future where personalized, real-time immersive experiences can be finely crafted based on users' physiological reactions.

"Halabja: It is an Iraqi city located in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, near the Iranian border, about 8-10 miles away, 150 miles away from Baghdad and located in the southeast of the city of Sulaymaniyah. It is one of the important cities that contains many mosques, shrines and shrines. In 1985, this city was subjected to the former regime's aerial bombardment, where more than 450 Kurdish villages were bombed, 300 citizens executed within one month, and internationally prohibited chemical weapons were used. The Iraqi regime’s violations of human rights continued to reach their climax in 1988, which was known as the Halabja events, which will be the subject of our research, the Halabja massacre, which took place at the end of the first Gulf War or what is known as the Iran-Iraq war from 16-17 March 1988, the killing of Kurdish civilians and the use of chemical weapons against them and the effects of a war The first Gulf and the breach of the international treaty through the use of chemical weapons that are banned internationally, as well as international reports on human rights violations in Halabja, which left about 5,000 martyrs, most of whom are residents of the region, and we will also clarify who is responsible for the events of Halabja, and the truth can be highlighted through documents and evidence The editorial in the Halabja case, where these documents included information about chemical weapons in handwriting and not in a printer to evade responsibility. The document talks about the production and accumulation of chemical agents by the former regime and the intention of the former regime to strike them when necessary, in addition to other documents that we will address through the research, There is also an appendix with the names of a number of companies involved in supplying the government at that time with unconventional weapons, including missile weapons and other weapons Chemical materials and advanced technology, and this is very clear in the violation of human rights by extremely barbaric repressive methods and means, and northern Iraq has become the scene of these crimes that have been circulated between international press agencies and television screens, articles, photos and documentaries expressing the horror of the calamity and the magnitude of the tragedy. Well-known international documents and documents and what Halabja has been exposed to are classified within the concept of genocide wars. This type of war is not attended by all international laws and segments only, but also the simplest rules of behavior and human and civilized interaction between people belonging to the human race. We will also show the issue of Halabja in the corridors of the Iraqi Parliament, which was during the session on 7/3/2011 of the second electoral cycle, the first legislative year, the second legislative term in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, held in Baghdad, by submitting a proposal to the Council of Representatives regarding the position of the House of Representatives regarding the crime of bombing Halabja with chemical weapons. In conclusion, I hope you will like this summary."

Streszczenie:
Abstract In low permeability reservoirs, the pressure transient response of the build-up takes a long time to stabilize. During the history matching process, the observed non-stabilized build-up pressure cannot be compared to simulated well block pressure (WBP). This challenge arises because most reservoir simulators convert the WBP of flowing wells to wellbore pressure using Peaceman’s equation, but do not perform this conversion for build-up pressure data. Such conversion is particularly important for low permeability reservoirs. This paper discusses a new method to calculate the wellbore pressure of shut-in wells and highlights its benefits. A full superposition equation for analytical wellbore-pressure, without the usual logarithmic approximation of Ei function, is the basis of the mathematical formulation proposed here. A modified equivalent radius concept together with the superposition principle are used to arrive at an expression to calculate numerical wellbore pressure from simulated WBP. To verify the validity of the approach, the calculated numerical wellbore pressure data is compared with analytical wellbore pressure build-up data described by the Horner function. The results show that numerical wellbore pressure is in better agreement with the non-stabilized observed pressure data than WBP. This is because WBP is an average pressure over a spatial distance in which theoretical pressure varies as a logarithmic function of distance. Therefore, when the grid size is large and spatial pressure gradient is significant (as the case in low permeability reservoirs), simulated shut-in WBP may be very different from observed shut-in wellbore pressure measured by a downhole gauge. Our results demonstrate that this difference increases with increasing grid size. If, during numerical well testing, numerical wellbore pressure is used for the log-log pressure derivative plot instead of WBP, the early distortions of infinite acting radial flow (IARF) stabilization, which has been observed by some investigators is eliminated. In summary, the presented methodology to calculate shut-in wellbore pressure is practically attractive to complement existing simulator capabilities for relating wellbore pressure to well block pressure. The use of numerical wellbore pressure instead of WBP, which is currently used, eliminates the need to apply the time-shift proposed by some investigators to correct IARF signature deviation, and observe the true flow regime.
