Background: Despite its small population, Norway wins a disproportionately large number of medals in international competitions. Therefore, it has been thought that the Norwegian sports model and sports school programs are influential in developing young Norwegian athletes to achieve such results. Today, more than 110 Norwegian private and public schools offer the elite sports program in Norway. Most student athletes attending those schools combine their high school education with elite sports, where they attend training sessions at both school and clubs. The number of people involved with the student athlete on a daily basis (i.e., other student athletes, club coaches, school coaches, schoolteachers, parents, and health personnel) indicate the importance of optimal communication and coordination. However, to the authors’ knowledge, no previous studies have explored communication and coordination among this population group. Therefore, the primary objective of this study was to use a holistic analysis of team dynamics using the Relational Coordination Survey as a measure to explore the relational coordination within and between student athletes, club coaches, and school coaches. A secondary objective of this study was to explore student athletes’, club coaches’, and school coaches’ relational coordination with schoolteachers, parents, and health personnel. In addition, the study aimed to explore differences in student athletes’ relational coordination with their significant others according to sport, school, performance level, sex, and school year. Methods: The quality of relational coordination was measured by a cross-sectional questionnaire of student athletes (n = 345), club coaches (n = 42), and school coaches (n = 25) concerning training load and life load. Multiple one-way analyses of variance were used to assess differences between groups. Results: The results show that student athletes, club coaches, and school coaches perceived moderate to weak relational coordination with parents, schoolteachers, and health personnel. Student athletes’ relational coordination score with parents was the only strong score observed. Furthermore, the results reveal notable differences in student athletes’ relational coordination with the roles according to their characteristics. Conclusions: The findings suggest a potential for enhancing relationships and communication within and between the significant roles involved with student athletes. The results further indicate that those involved with the student athlete should consider a holistic approach to enhance communication and coordination, including physical, psychological, and other life factors, for optimal student athlete management and development. More resources are necessary to facilitate effective communication and coordination regarding the student athlete’s total load.

Holistic ministry is now the standard across global missional practice, and one manifestation of integral mission is Entrepreneurial Church Planting (ECP). This occurs when business entrepreneurs and clergy members launch spiritually and economically integrated communities of faith. While it may be conceptually inviting for spiritual and business forces to comingle in reaching the lost, ECP activities need to be evaluated as to whether they are accomplishing the goals of the Great Commission and the Creation Commission. In-depth study is needed now to consider outcomes relative to goals. To that end, this study will examine the unique data trends that emerge in the case study of Kentucky-based Meridzo Ministries. Grassroots insights from case-study research will then be applied to Clemens Sedmak’s kinship model in order to posit three proxy indicators based upon interviewee data. This article argues that rather than measuring success of missions economically or spiritually, success should be gauged on the grounds of holistic relational transformation.

The present research explored how individual differences in perceptions of change (cyclic vs. linear) influence relational decisions. Three studies examined whether cyclic perceptions of change, a central feature of holistic thinking, keep people in romantic relationships longer due to the belief that hardships too shall pass. Study 1 found that cyclic perceivers reported greater endurance against relational transgressions than linear perceivers. In Studies 2a and 2b, cyclic perceivers reported fewer breakups in romantic relationships (Study 2a) and showed less willingness to break up (Study 2b) than linear perceivers due to their stronger relational endurance. Through a longitudinal examination, Study 3 evidenced that cyclic perceivers were more likely to remain in romantic relationships than linear perceivers over 1 year. The current studies provide new insight into how individual differences in perceptions of change contribute to decision-making in romantic relationships.

This paper shows the alternative learning methodology to stimulate the holistic side of students’ minds to achieve the increment of the innovation skill, managing the creative competencies and level of stress. The present research study is a pre-experimental research designed with prior and posterior measurement, longitudinal, explanatory and co-relational, with the main objective to demonstrate the effect of the holistic innovation coefficient of the beneficiaries of the program “Impulsa Peru”. Program Results: It has been concluded that there is a significance of the experimental group over the control group. Therefore, the holistic innovation methodology had an impact on the experimental group. Conclusions: Hypothesis 1 is fulfilled in which it is affirmed that the holistic innovation methodology has a positive impact on the level of coefficient of holistic innovation of the student mentors of the women recyclers of the program Impulsa Peru with a significance level of 0.05%.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to add a holistic and dynamic approach to the emerging body of knowledge of entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs). It aims to synthesise research and related neoteric EE concepts by proposing a conceptual framework for the study of the composition and interactions of such systems. Design/methodology/approach The authors provide an emergent enquiry perspective by introducing a systematic literature review to inform the development of a conceptual framework, based upon theoretical underpinnings of institutional and network theory. Findings This paper highlights neoteric holistic and dynamic approaches to recent scholarship of EEs, including antecedents, related concepts, shortcomings, features, actors, components and resources, recommendations for application, network and institutional perspectives, pathways for future research, and ultimately, a conceptual framework merging aspects of entrepreneurial activity, value creation, EE elements, relational interactions and institutional inferences. Research limitations/implications Primary limitations are associated with holistic and dynamic approaches adopted in this study, highlighting that EE heterogeneity is unlikely conducive to a “one-size-fits-all” scenario; further empirical research on the dynamics of EEs is suggested to circumvent such implications while adding to the emerging and growing body of knowledge and application of EEs. Practical implications The findings and conceptual framework provide a theoretical platform to base applications to practice in developing nascent and emerging EEs. Originality/value A first of its kind study adds a holistic and dynamic emergent enquiry approach with institutional and network underpinnings to EE frameworks.

Relational understanding constitutes students’ awareness of appropriate procedures to solve problems along with logical reasoning. Itis pivotal to help students solve problems in mathematics. It is necessary that the teaching of mathematics be directed to achieve relational understanding. Accordingly, students are capable of solving complicated problems in mathematics. This current research aims at analyzing and describing relational understanding and the patterns of answering questions of the fifth graders on integer operation. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study as the research design. Further, three students belonging to the fifth grade of Elementary School in Malang City, Indonesia, were set up as the research subjects. A test was administered to measure the subjects' relational understanding. All collected data were analyzed using an interactive technique. The result has indicated that the highly-proficient student was able to show excellent relational understanding. Besides, it was shown that the fairly-proficient student could show good relational understanding. The lowly-proficient student was shown to be able to achieve only half of the holistic criteria set for relational understanding. The patterns of answering the questions demonstrated by all students in all levels included jotting down the models, completing the models, and answering the questions. The highly-proficient student understood the information and wrote it down. Whilst the fairly-proficient student understood the information without translating it into the written form. At last, the lowly-proficient student did not pronounce any signals of understanding of the information

This case study examined the way an adolescent Black boy extended his kinship network as a part of navigating and demonstrating agency in mentoring relationships with nonparental adults. We purposively selected one participant, Bodos, from the sample of a larger mixed-method study involving youth, aged 12 to 18 years, in the southeastern United States. Drawing on narrative methodology, we used a holistic-content approach to analyze Bodos’ responses to semistructured interviews. Bodos used several narratives to describe his experiences. We offer three findings: (a) Fictive kinship is a positive feature of Black adaptive culture that can be leveraged by Black youth as a tool for creating a distinct relational dynamic with their mentors, (b) adolescent Black boys possess skills and knowledge that both preexist and emerge within positive mentoring relationships, and (c) youth agency and expectations manifest in mentoring relationships to inform and influence those adults’ significance. This case study furthers the field’s understanding of how cultural practices can positively influence relational development and create a unique relational context and experience.

Intellectual capital is the total value of all of an organization’s intangible assets. It includes human, relational and structural capital. It takes a holistic view of all the aspects of a business that give it a competitive advantage. This study examined the effect of intellectual capital on competitive advantage on Tito Eatery, using the Intellectual capital dimensions (human, relational and structural capital) relationship with competitive advantage as objectives. 342 employees of Tito Eatery were used, Multiple regression analysis was adopted with the help of SPSS package. The finding shows that human capital has a significant effect on achieving a competitive advantage at (α ≤ 0.05), structural capital enhancing the competitive position at (α ≤ 0.05) and relational capital has a significant influence on achieving a competitive advantage at (α ≤ 0.05). the null hypothesis was rejected. It is recommended researchers should adapt other measurement method as relying on the financial reports to determine the market share.

This paper analyses data from a qualitative study undertaken with children and their families in two cash transfer programmes (CTPs) in Pakistan. Using a three-dimensional child well-being model that distinguishes material, relational and subjective dimensions, it argues that CTPs have helped extremely poor families sustain their basic dietary needs and marginally increase their health spending. Additional conditional payments have led to increased primary school enrolments, but CTPs have failed to address the distinctive vulnerabilities of children, including their nutritional needs, relational well-being and social status. A more holistic and child-sensitive approach to social protection would be the way forward to improve child well-being in line with the United Nations Charter on Rights of Children (UNCRC) to which Pakistan is a signatory.

This study builds a measurement framework of project governance for mega-infrastructure considering the institutional situation of mega-infrastructure projects in China, including contractual governance, relational governance, and governmental governance. The factors of governmental governance are identified by the method of grounded theory with six cases of megaprojects, and the measures of project governance for mega-infrastructure are refined by expert interviews. The 235 questionnaires are collected, and exploratory factor analysis is used to identify six factors of the governance mechanism for mega-infrastructure projects. The scales are developed, and reliability and validity tests are conducted. Results indicate that (1) the governmental governance mechanism includes government decision, government supervision, and government coordination. (2) The three-dimensional framework of project governance is established as “contractual–relational–governmental” in the field of mega-infrastructure. (3) The measurement scales of project governance are developed and validated for mega-infrastructure, including government regulation, government coordination, risk sharing, revenue distribution, relationship maintenance, and cultural development. This research contributes to (a) the state of the knowledge by gaining a holistic and comprehensive understanding of project governance in mega-infrastructure in China, and (b) the state of the practice by providing a tool for measuring project governance in mega-infrastructure.

The overall aim of this thesis is to critically assess the concept of the person in Macmurray's philosophy. This exploration requires a general examination of Macmurray's published and unpublished writings owing to the lack of any full length study of his ideas. In particular, this thesis is broadly sympathetic to Macmurray's thought and seeks to reveal the relevance of its for today. Whilst certain details of his theory are contentious and inadequate, they are not beyond redemption. Religion is important for Macmurray, but he is primarily a philosopher, and the content of this thesis reflects this. In the first chapter, Macmurray's antagonism towards traditional mind-body dualism is discussed in connection with his definition of the Self as an embodied agent. It is in this sense that his concept of the person represents an holistic account of the individual. Whilst speculation surrounds Macmurray's influences, some comparisons are drawn and the ensuing criticisms are examined. As a direct result of the postulation of the Self as agent, the existence of the Other is both confirmed and deemed necessary. Chapter two explores the interaction between the Self and the Other from the perspective of the human infant. It asserts the importance of relationships for the growth of the individual. Then, with reference to the ethical implications of the related agent, chapter three examine the composition of societies, paying particular attention to Marxist analysis, and seeking to extricate Macmurray's transferable ideas from those conditioned by his era. Finally, chapter four claims that communities are necessary for the full expression of the person, whilst criticising Macmurray's dubious employment of religious terminology in this respect. In essence, this thesis argues that the insights of Macmurray's theory have been needlessly neglected, and that the person must be understood from the perspective of agency and relationships.

1.1 Entrepreneurship
First of all before undertaking this project we need to be very sure what entrepreneurship is.
Entrepreneurship is basically a career path that an individual takes when they decide to become a
job creator rather than becoming a person who seeks the job. Entrepreneurs are very important
aspects and elements of a nation because they are the ones which shape the core of a nation from
the perspective of financial as well as developmental growth of a nation. Entrepreneurial journey
is considered one of the most rigorous as well as challenging paths to take because there are a lot
of uncertainties that are involved in this roadmap. That is why there are very few people who
choose this as their career path and take on the challenges that come with it. Entrepreneurship is
not a process that a person follows, it's a mindset of an individual to become a problem solver by
creating solutions to already existing problems in the society or any landscape rather than just
pointing out towards the problems that exist in the society.
Being an entrepreneur requires a lot of things at once, for example a person needs to be a problem
solver, empathetic leader as well as a person who can drive the change or motivation of change
within its team to tackle the problem and find a solution for it. That is why there are a lot of
importance that is associated with entrepreneurship, I'm of these importances are:
● Entrepreneurs are the ones who create jobs- this is important because we know that
foreign progress of a nation it's very very important to provide jobs and opportunities to
the younger crowd and talent of the nation that is why entrepreneurs are the key element
of the society as they create this opportunity maybe on a large scale or a small scale for the
masses in the society.
● Entrepreneurs are the ones who innovate - this is important to understand because the
conventional challenges and the problems that the society face these entrepreneurs are the
ones who innovate by leveraging existing technologies as well as various out-of-the-box
approaches to solve that particular problem of the society and overcome the challenge.

● Entrepreneurs are the one who can create change or aspire to create change- this
means that it is very important for entrepreneurs to become good leaders because based on
their leadership they will be able to bring in the change that the society needs as well as
under their leadership different people can also aspire to become change makers by
becoming innovators and entrepreneurs to create opportunities as well as get into the
domain of entrepreneurship.
● Entrepreneurs cater to the financial health of the nation- it is very important to also
note that the entrepreneurs are the one who, with creating a lot of opportunities, create a
scenario of development of the nation financially. This is true in today's world because as
the globalisation has happened with the industries, even a small business owner sitting from
one nation can run its operations in different countries which will promote and boost the
financial economy of the nation in a broader perspective.This research was done to know the dependence of personality traits on the entrepreneur intentions of an individual. Personality traits differ from individual to individual and reflect a person's characteristics, patterns of thoughts and feelings. Therefore, to be an entrepreneur these personality traits of an individual may impact. Entrepreneurial intention is when a person moves towards the direction of becoming an entrepreneur. Thus, this research was done to know the relationship between personality traits and entrepreneurial intention. For the same qualitative as well as quantitative research was carried out. In case of quantitative research, a survey was conducted among MBA students of Delhi NCR and analysis was done on 120 participants. The result from this research was that all personality traits showed positive correlation with the entrepreneurial intentions except for neuroticism which showed an inverse relationship . In case of qualitative research a telephonic interview was conducted for about 21 entrepreneurs at different stages of entrepreneurship (nascent, mid and seasoned). Their opinions and state of mind was noted and analysed. Therefore, it can be said that different dimensions of personality traits have a positive effect on the entrepreneurial intentions of an individual.

In this study a contextual training model for developing leaders in ministry to children is investigated. The training model offers a dynamic training process for the development of effective leadership for the African Church and other Christian organizations in the field of children's ministries. The aim of these children's ministries would be to see holistically developed God fearing children in Africa.
This study provided an opportunity to ask deeper questions about one's assumptions on prevailing concepts about children, children ministries, leadership training, African philosophy and what is meant by contextual training models.
The complexity of Africa, its people and the challenges for the future are evident from this study. It can be concluded that it is possible and necessary to train effective Christian leadership for children's ministries.
To develop effective leadership in the field of children's ministries could prove to be one of the long term answers to the pressing needs of Africa and its people. The model serves the statement "equipped to impact the continent"Practical Theology

Modern ecological problems result mainly from narrow-minded and mechanistic anthropocentrism. The task of cutting the Gordian knot of ecological issues must involve transformations towards the personally holistic level and be motivated by more than mere social movements and political and legislative decisions. Spiritual ecology aims for the transformation and sublimation of human spirituality, which is urgently needed in order to deal effectively with ecological issues. This dissertation aims to explore possible solutions to environmental problems from the angles of basic Buddhist teachings—“Non-self,” “Alms-giving,” and “Holistic worldview.” Hua-yen Sutra, the primary text of this dissertation, is a sutra famous for its holistic worldview. It surely can contribute a lot to the task of transforming and sublimating human spirituality. The first chapter focuses on the discussion of the inter-relatedness of “non-self” and the eco-system of human consciousness. From the basic teaching of “non-self,” I derive such notions as “emptiness,” “emptiness of selfhood,” “inter-being,” and a mindset and life-style of simplicity. Through the reading of the Hua-yen Sutra, we come to know the emphasis the Buddha put on the environment and also the root causes of modern environmental problems—“greed,” “aversion,” and “ignorance”—that is, the “three poisons,” which are the inevitable results of the degeneration of human morality. It is my firm belief that, through the intuitive understanding of “non-self” and the actual practice of precepts, people are able to see deep into the very nature of mundane phenomena, that is, the “interconnectedness of everything.” People will be humbler in treating every creature and occurrence in this mundane world and will start learning to live an eco-friendly life that is “outwardly simple but inwardly rich.” The second chapter is devoted to the topic of “alms-giving” and its relation to the Mahayana “Bodhisattva Path.” As the head of the “Six Paramitas,” “alms-giving” can be practiced by every person in daily life in an altruistic way. “Six Paramitas” or “Ten Paramitas” is a required course for any Mahayana bodhisattva. They help us eliminate the tendency of ego-clinging and start the life career of ecological persons, which is based on the altruistic notion of “striving upward for enlightenment and going downward for liberation of sentient beings.” The third chapter is devoted to the exploration of the “holistic worldview” in the Hua-yen Sutra. I will elaborate on the “nine conferences taking place in seven places” and their relations to a holistic worldview. The uniqueness of the Hua-yen Sutra lies in the pilgrimage of Sudhana, in which Sudhana pays 53 visits to spiritual teachers. This summarizes the previous books of the Sutra. Everyone of us can be Sudhana, carrying out altruistic deeds and contributing to the improvement of the eco-system.

Depuis l’avènement de l’agriculture productiviste, les paysages des zones d’intensification agricole des pays industrialisés ont été marqués par la perte sévère de leur diversité et la dégradation de leurs fonctions environnementales, récréatives, esthétiques et sociales. Au moment où la qualité des paysages constitue un facteur clé du dynamisme des collectivités rurales, il devient urgent de développer des stratégies d’aménagement aptes à réintroduire le caractère multifonctionnel de ces paysages. Dans ce contexte, cette thèse propose un éclairage sur les enjeux d’aménagement de ces paysages sous l’angle des approches dialectiques en paysage issues de la Holistic Landscape Ecology. En développant un modèle conceptuel des trajectoires des paysages s’inscrivant dans les approches intégrées en paysage, elle établit une double lecture des dynamiques physico-spatiale et socioculturelle des paysages des zones d’intensification agricole afin d’en arriver à qualifier les écarts entre celles-ci. Pour y parvenir, elle prend appui sur une étude de cas d’un bassin versant agricole du sud du Québec. En puisant tantôt dans l’écologie du paysage, tantôt dans la sociologie du paysage, les résultats de cette thèse soulignent d’une part le poids des forces politiques et économiques dans le façonnement de ces paysages. Mais ils révèlent également le rôle des valorisations paysagères des agriculteurs dans la modulation de ces forces. Des pistes concrètes pour l’aménagement concluent cette thèse.Since the advent of productivist agriculture, the landscapes in areas of intensive agriculture of industrialized countries have been affected by a drastic reduction in their diversity and the degradation of their environmental, recreational and aesthetic functions. At a time when the quality of landscapes is a key factor in the vitality of rural communities, it is becoming urgent to develop management strategies designed to reintroduce the multifunctional nature of these landscapes. Within this context, this thesis proposes to address the landscape management issues of areas of intensive agriculture under the perspective of dialectic approaches in landscape studies originating from Holistic Landscape Ecology. By developing a conceptual model of landscape trajectories, based on integrated landscape methods, it establishes a double interpretation of the physical-spatial and the social-cultural dynamics of the landscapes in areas of intensive agriculture in order to assess the degree of divergence between the two. To achieve this, an agricultural watershed of southern Québec was used as a case study. Sometimes using landscape ecology, sometimes using landscape sociology, the results of this thesis underline the strong influence of political forces in the shaping of these landscapes. However, they also reveal the important role of the landscape values of farmers in altering these forces. Moreover, the study of the social-cultural dynamics reveals that a diversity of landscape valuations, and of practices affecting landscapes, coexist within local populations, thus shedding new light on the usual image of uniformity of these landscapes. The maintenance and increase of this diversity appears likely to contribute significantly to the reintroduction of the multifunctional character of landscapes within areas of intensive agriculture. Concrete management recommendations conclude this thesis.

The study of the interaction between different pieces of EU financial legislation becomes ever more important—and difficult. In this contribution the author clarifies the relationship between the MiFID II and several other closely related directives, such as the Insurance Distribution Directive, the PRIIPs Directive and the UCITS Directive. The analysis reveals numerous inconsistencies and interpretation difficulties. The author argues that while some of the shortcomings are inherent to the EU piecemeal approach, other problems should and could have been avoided, by adopting a holistic approach of financial regulation and supervision.

International development has remained a key part of global economic relations since the field emerged more than half a century ago. From its initial focus on colonization and state building, the field has evolved to encompass a wide range of issues, theoretical problems, and disciplinary traditions. The year 1945 is widely considered as a turning point in the study of international development. Three factors account for this: the end of World War II that left the US an economic hegemon, the ideological rivalry that defined the Cold War, and the period of decolonization that peaked around 1960 that forced development issues, including foreign aid, state building, and multilateral engagement, onto the global agenda. Since then, development paradigms have continuously evolved, adapted, and been reinvented to address the persistent and arguably widening gap between the prosperous economies of the “developed North” and the developing and frequently troubled economies of the “global South.” Today, a loosely knit holistic paradigm has emerged that recognizes the deficiencies of its predecessors, yet builds on their strengths. A holistic conception of international development embraces methodological pluralism in the scholarly study of development, while recognizing the multiple ways policy practitioners may productively apply academic theories and research findings in unique settings.

Choreographer Mark Morris is generally regarded as a supremely musical choreographer, and his respect for the musical score and his preference for working very closely with it are well known. A close reading of his works leads one to examine the nature of the relationship between what is seen and what is heard in the context of art, and in relation to one’s embodied existence. In this study ofAll Fours(2003), choreographed to Bartok’sFourth String Quartet, structural comparative analysis allows for an examination of the temporal dimension of the relationship and changes in and through time—meter, pulse, rhythm, pitch and harmony, dynamic shaping, and instrumentation. Through this, layers of complexity in the choreomusical relationships are revealed that stimulate questions concerning the interface of aural and kinetic in art, and which reveal how Morris’s work resonates with a deeply affirmative and holistic philosophy of life.

This chapter considers some practical applications of place-based inquiry, beginning with an assessment of site-grounded ventures in learning at collegiate institutions across the United States. Site-based learning amounts to an extension of the long-standing but beleaguered residential model of higher education. Such programs may also expose students to the spirituality of “contemplative ecology,” thereby contributing to one version of holistic education. The chief rationale for contemplative learning in place rests on enlarging students’ awareness and understanding of place, as well as their capacity for place-making. Chapter 5 finally explores these issues in relation to a localized case study, involving a course conducted at the University of the South. Through a combination of field visits, contemplative exercises, readings, and group discussion, this course aims to develop students’ sense of how sacral and other notions of place matter—to them personally, as well as to other human beings and the earth we all inhabit.

Herder is very much a thinker for our time. Instead of approaching facets of human existence in an isolated fashion, he brings the entire human being into focus by tracing its connections with the natural, cultural, and historical world. Through this integrated approach, Herder’s anthropology develops a holistic understanding of the human sphere in relation to our existence as natural creatures who are crucially marked by the fact that we have language and thought, and understand and express meaning in our actions. By illuminating these contextual dimensions of human existence, Herder’s anthropology resonates with many demands and needs arising today, when national and cultural interests—and conflicts—take on new, and old, forms in the wake of unprecedented global challenges. The first part of the volume examines the various dimensions of Herder’s philosophical understanding of human nature through which he sought methodologically to delineate a genuinely anthropological philosophy. This includes his critique of traditional metaphysics and its revision along anthropological lines; the metaphysical, epistemological, and physiological dimensions of his theory of the soul-body relationship; his conception of aesthetics as the study of the sensuous basis of knowledge; and the relationship between the human and natural sciences. The second part then examines further aspects of this understanding of human nature and what emerges from it: the human-animal distinction; how human life evolves over space and time on the basis of a natural order; the fundamentally hermeneutic dimension to human existence; and the interrelatedness of language, history, religion, and culture.

AbstractThe attempt to explore human beings transdisciplinarily as beings of love can contribute to a more realistic anthropology, with an increased practical relevance for science and research. On the other hand, with its holistic orientation towards the whole person, it leads to an improper standardization of scientific research results. In order to avoid the problems associated with the holistic study of man as Homo amans, this article therefore reverses the perspective. Fundamentally, the nature of love is not discussed anthropologically on the basis of an examination of human nature and its altruism or egoism, but on the basis of the phenomenon of love in its ambivalence. Following Kierkegaard’s phenomenology of love, the article shows that love cannot be clearly distinguished from selfish acts without the reference of interpersonal relationships with a “third party.” In the Christian perspective, God is such a “third party,” who makes our fellow human beings recognizable to us as neighbors of God and enables us to behave in the spirit of love. Christian love of neighbor is therefore an example of the revolutionary, socially transformative dynamics of love.

AbstractBasic capabilities and human interests that are directed towards the ideal of human flourishing now seem at odds with the concept of Homo economicus as once defined by John Stuart Mill – a rational being pursuing wealth only for his own self-interest. This popular paradigm still dominates economic theory and practice, but a growing group of academics consider its underlying model of human behavior to be inaccurate. As a result, scholars across various disciplines have expressed the need for a more refined anthropology in relation to contemporary economics. In response, the holistic concept of Homo amans as phenomenologically constituted by the virtues of faith, hope, and love is introduced, since multidisciplinary yet complementary study suggests that human persons are questing, expecting, and relational beings. Whether or not Homo amans could serve in the future as a complementary model to Homo economicus remains to be seen, because several aspects of human relationality that are relevant to contemporary economics are in need of future study.

AbstractThe multidimensionality and interpersonal dimension of human sexuality make the study of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) a challenge. The aspiration to pursue a patient-centered, holistic approach collides with the need to establish commonly accepted diagnostic criteria for different disturbances in sexual functioning, involving one or multiple phases of the sexual response cycle and pain associated with sexual activity. According to recently proposed classifications, which are continuously evolving, the most relevant FSDs include hypoactive sexual desire disorder, female arousal disorder, persistent genital arousal disorder, and female orgasm disorder. The present chapter aims to provide a clinical perspective on these disorders by reviewing the most recent evidence on the pathophysiology, definitions, prevalence, leading etiologies, diagnostic tools, and key therapeutic approaches. Sexual pain-related conditions will be reviewed in another chapter.It is evident that a gender bias still exists, with prominent biological etiologies of FSDs being neglected and understudied at the expense of psychodynamic and relational determinants. Moreover, classifications should serve to advocate the advancement of our knowledge of female sexual functioning. This process goes through the practical translation of the updated nosology in a language that is intelligible to primary healthcare providers all over the world, and ultimately, to women.

Within schools, there has been an intensification in practices of generating, analysing, visualising and intervening with educational data (Selwyn, “There’s so much data”: Exploring the realities of data-based school governance. European Educational Research Journal, 15(1), 54–68. 10.1177/1474904115602909, 2016). There has, however, so far been less attention paid to exploring how data practices work ‘on the ground’. Drawing from an ethnographic study in an English secondary school, this paper shows how data practices—people, policies, discourses, digital and material tools—became part of a wide-ranging data apparatus that reconfigured the possibilities for education.This chapter considers how the curriculum was reconfigured through algorithmic triage devices that created unequal access to a broad curriculum for different groups of students. It also explores how teachers’ roles were orientated away from more ‘holistic’, personal or relational understandings of pupils’ learning, instead engaging with data as a more legitimate form of knowledge and professionalism.

AbstractThe advent of recent technological advancements, and particularly, the metaverse, has brought unprecedented opportunities for tourism. The integration of multiple realities extends tourism beyond the traditional chronological classification of pre-travel, during-travel, and post-travel stages. The novel concept of never-ending tourism captures a holistic multi-dimensional experience in which technological solutions are at the foundation to elevate tourism to an on-going, never-ending activity that permeates every day and travel life. This study adopted a futures methods approach through qualitative in-depth interviews and a scenario development supported by a storytelling technique. The findings present three distinct scenarios of never-ending tourism on a spectrum of digital companion, digital escape and digital connection. The scenarios suggest a growing importance of the pre-travel and post-travel phases, while technologies continue support visitors to enjoy the irreplaceable multisensory experiences on site. Towards 2030, the metaverse will enable visitors to mentally teleport themselves to destinations, regardless of time, financial resources and physical abilities. Individuals will seamlessly move between integrated digital and physical realities, where the engagement with travel becomes a part of daily life. The study is novel and original in that it empirically explores the emerging concept of never-ending tourism and contributes to the wider metaverse discourse in the tourism context. Several practical suggestions and future research directions are given to unlock the potential of never-ending tourism in relation to integrated experience design, new business models and long-term customer engagement.

AbstractGeneral Land Use Cover (LUC) datasets provide a holistic picture of all the land uses and covers on Earth, without focusing specifically on any individual land use category. As opposed to the LUC maps which are only available for one date or year, reviewed in Chap. “Global General Land Use Cover Datasets with a Single Date”, the maps with time series allow users to study LUC change over time. Time series of general LUC datasets at a global scale is useful for understanding global patterns of LUC change and their relation with global processes such as climate change or the loss of biodiversity. MCD12Q1, also known as MODIS Land Cover, was the first time series of LUC maps to be produced on a global scale. When it was first launched in 2002, there were already many organizations and researchers working on accurate, detailed global LUC maps, although these were all one-off editions for single years. The MCD12Q1 dataset continues to be updated today, providing a series of maps for the period 2001–2018. Since the launch of MCD12Q1, many other historical series of LUC maps have been produced, especially in the last decade. This has resulted in the LUC map series covering a longer time period at higher spatial resolution. Recent efforts have focused on producing consistent time series of maps that can track LUC changes over time with low levels of uncertainty. GLCNMO (500 m), GlobCover (300 m) and GLC250 (250 m) provide time series of LUC maps at similar spatial resolutions to MCD12Q1 (500 m), although for fewer reference years. GLCNMO provides information for the years 2003, 2008 and 2013, GlobCover for 2005 and 2009 and GLC250 for 2001 and 2010. GLASS-GLC is the dataset with the coarsest spatial resolution of all those reviewed in this chapter (5 km), even though it was released very recently, in 2020. Map producers have focused on this dataset’s long timespan (1982–2015) rather than on its spatial detail. LC-CCI and CGLS-LC100 are the recently launched datasets providing a consistent series of LUC maps, which show LUC changes over time with lower levels of uncertainty. LC-CCI provides LUC information for one of the longest timespans reviewed here (1992–2018) at a spatial resolution of 300 m. CGLS-LC100 provides LUC information for a shorter period (2015–2019) but at a higher spatial resolution (100 m). In both cases, updates are scheduled. The datasets with the highest levels of spatial detail are FROM-GLC and GLC30. These were produced using highly detailed Landsat imagery, delivering time series of maps at 30 m. The FROM-GLC project even has a test LUC map at a spatial resolution of 10 m from Sentinel-2 imagery for the year 2017, making it the global dataset with the greatest spatial detail of all those reviewed in this book. Both FROM-GLC and GLC30 provide data for three different dates: the former for 2010, 2015 and 2017 and the latter for 2000, 2010 and 2020.

This would also lead to an explicit discussion of various organizational theories towards intra-firm KS. The study, which is designed as a conceptual one, compiles and synthesizes previous studies. Unlike previous research, the current one is encouraging as it develops a holistic perspective towards intra-organizational KS.

The nature itself of organizational psychology makes the study and modeling of emergence processes the key topic of this science. In this regard we can distinguish between two kinds of emergence: the one related to individual constructs and the other to collective constructs. In the former case the presence of suitable individual and contextual features gives rise to the emergence of suitable individual attitudes of holistic nature. In the latter case the features of single individuals belonging to a group, and reciprocally interacting, give rise to the occurrence of collective features and phenomena. In the last years both kinds of emergence have been studied through computational models. In this chapter we focus on the contribution of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models to this modeling activity. As regards the emergence of individual constructs there is a consistent number of ANN-based models, most of which formulated in terms of recurrent networks. A review of their successes and failures constitutes a first part of the chapter. Instead, the emergence of collective constructs has been so far modelled by resorting to agent-based models. However, in recent times the ANN models have begun to be used with increasing frequency in this field. Namely, each agent can be modelled in an easier way by representing its structure through a suitable neural network. The final part of the chapter is, therefore, devoted to the problems underlying the use of ANNs as constituents of agent models.

Drawing on Bourdieu's concept of capital this study deploys a relational perspective to examine capital mobilization strategies of skilled migrants from recession ravaged Western- and impoverished Eastern-European member states when navigating their way through structural constraints that affect their career choices. It is a multilevel approach that allows overcoming the individual (micro) emphasis in the self-initiated expatriation literature, organizational (meso) and contextual (macro) focus in the skilled migration studies. Based on qualitative research involving self-initiated expatriates from the European Union (EU) in Edinburgh the study extends our understanding beyond the narrow discourse of human capital and offers a more holistic picture of skilled migration in the age of austerity. The study also exposes that EU citizenship is not enough to undertake successful career mobility. Finally, it highlights the need of proactive and purposeful policies to retain the brain while not imposing any draconian on free movement of human capital.

There are close relationships between the cultural structures of societies and residential areas. The place where the society chooses to live and the ways it is organized is an expression of the cultural structure. Traditional houses are accepted as the most obvious indicator of this situation. One of the ways of preserving cultural sustainability today is to read the design principles of these houses correctly. Culture is about what kind of environment people live in and how they live. Human behaviors are based on cultural references. Religion, view of life and perceptions of the environment are both dialectically shaped culture and shaped by culture. Culture is about where and how human meets his needs throughout his life. It can be said that culture is one of the basic factors that direct human behavior and life. Therefore, the cultural embedding of sustainability thought is important in shaping the world in which future generations will live. Regarding various cultures in the literature; the structure of the society, their way of life and how they shape their places of residence, etc. there are many studies. The riches that each culture possesses are considered to be indisputable. These important studies are mostly based on an in-depth analysis of that culture, concentrating on a single specific culture. In this study, it is aimed to make a more holistic analysis by examining more than one culture. Thanks to this holistic perspective, it is thought that it will be possible to make inferences that can be considered as common to all societies. This study, which especially focuses on Asian and African societies, is the tendency of these societies to maintain their cultural structure compared to other societies. The reflections of cultural practices on residential spaces are examined through various examples. The dialectical structure of Berber houses, integration of Chinese houses with natural environmental references, Toroja houses associated with the genealogy in Indonesia, etc. examples will be examined in the context of cultural sustainability in this study. With this holistic approach, where the basic philosophy of cultural sustainability can be obtained, important references can be obtained in the design of today's residences. The present paper examines the application of a holistic product design approach from the Design Thinking point of view. The Design Thinking process follows a number of steps with an aim to develop product design visual concepts around users’ experiences and their needs. The presented case study is focused to the modern jewellery design era. The proposed design was developed by using a series of design thinking methodologies (empathy maps, persona, product design) and creative tools (mind-maps, moodboards, sketches, storyboards, and prototyping). Furthermore, through this holistic design approach an alternative version of future jewelries is achieved, while at the same time it embodies novel technologies and web-based applications. The paper discusses the potentials for reimagining the jewellery products in relation to the Design Thinking Process and CAD-based tools at the same time. Finally, the proposed products provide a novel framework of art and new technology methods for extensive production of innovative art-based products.

The present article is a bibliographic review on human formation, structured from the mind and body hybridity in the everyday relationship. The purpose of the text is to demonstrate that human formation goes beyond the purely cognitive question, building a relationship between the practical situations of the experience with the conceptual ones. For this purpose, authors from the field of philosophy, sociology, theology and education, such as Maurice Merleau-Ponty, James K. A. Smith and Martin Heidegger, were chosen to theoretically support human formation through mind and body hybridity. The research was developed theoretically, analyzing the writings of the authors mentioned above and others, based on the investigation of the hybridity of mind and body in human formation in the family, school and society. In this way, broadening the understanding of education, relating mind and body hybridity, enables a holistic human education, which contemplates the complexity of life, and contributes to greater assertiveness in relation to the preparation of students to interpret the context of today's society. With the present study, it was verified that the human formation, from the mind and body hybridism, is a construction that occurs in all spaces and throughout life, however, in the phase of childhood, adolescence and youth, the bases that guide choices in adult life, having a breadth that relates mind and body.

The rapid development of Chinese cities in the past three decades has caused the transformation of the structure of historical urban spaces, resulting in the fragmentation of historical environment and the blurring of historical pattern. This study proposes to use the epistemology of historical prescriptiveness to recognize the characteristics of urban historical environment, so as to effectively protect the city as a whole. Historical prescriptiveness refers to the spatialtemporal correlation effect in the process of urban historical environment change, which makes the current historical elements of the city present as a whole with hierarchy, structure and system. This kind of epistemology is most prominent in ancient maps. The schema-symbol relation can express the paradigm of traditional structure, the schema-symbol choice can express the order of multiple symbols, and the schema-symbol intention can express the meaning of camp city culture. Based on these potential criteria, this study summarizes the logical relations and existing forms of the old and new elements in urban space, and then explores the historical prescriptive content. The specific content of historical prescriptiveness is embodied in the following aspects: the implicit control of the historical pattern in spatial positioning, the transformation and recognition of historical elements in evolutionary comparison, and the inheritance and continuation of urban memory in the extraction of connotations. Taking the ancient city of Shipu in Zhejiang as an example, the study explores the characteristics of the ancient city of Shipu from three aspects: the succession of Haiphong’s fortification and city-port structure, the alienation of the texture of the ancient towns and streets of Jiangnan, the rejuvenation of the city with the reappearance of culture in eastern Zhejiang. Based on this case, this study proposes a holistic conservation idea of historical city in the modern context of "space and time compression".

The Systemic Design approach provides a methodology to define complex territorial network of companies with reduced environmental impact. This method defines a way of analysis to understand and map the complexity of current issues addressing them at different levels, in order to design appropriate and long lasting solutions mainly based on the increase of relations between the involved actors. The creation of a network of connections permits to obtain several positive outcomes that involve both the territory and the society that lives in it and it also makes the system more resilient. An holistic diagnosis is the starting point for the identification of different areas to develop a systemic project. This methodology was applied to Lea-Artibai, a department of the Basque Country. Its economy is historically based on forestry and fishing that are currently facing a long-lasting crisis and it is difficult to intervene in these sectors for the complexity of the regulatory system. The holistic diagnosis highlighted other territorial potentialities of the area, mainly the agri-food sector (with traditional products and dishes) and the deeply rooted culture of cooperation. As a kick-off for the creation of the net between the different actors of the department was chosen the creation of a 'Systemic Buying Group (SBG)'. It enables to start the cooperation between the partners for the success of the pilot project: a large cooperative with its employees as potential clients, a cooperative of local producers and transformers, a little shop working as the bridge of communication between them. At their side operate AZARO fundazioa (a private non –profit centre for entrepreneurship and innovation that promotes the creation of new businesses and the competitive improvement of the business network) as the coordinator of the project and the Systemic Design Group of Politecnico di Torino in the role of project leader. The project underlines the role of design as a deeply interdisciplinary field of work that is able to talk and cooperate with different disciplines to reach a collective goal: the environmental, social and economic sustainability. The SBG becomes the driver of change for the enhancement of the territory and the implementation of systemic design in the area, for an economy based on the quality instead of the quantity. The growing environmental crisis and the proliferation of social inequality, with affective ties to the movements of predatory neoliberal globalization, desperately claim for the constitution of a truly sustainable future. To this end, it is essential to implement ethical, empathic, and cooperative behaviors and the reorientation of the market to consider the coexistence of human beings with nature in harmony. In this context, the global fashion system, characterized by mass production, low cost, and promoting excessive disposable consumption, devalues the natural diversity of the biosphere - from the extraction of raw materials to waste produced in the post-consumption - and contributes, directly and exponentially, to aggravate social inequalities and fracture, increasingly, the imbalance of ecosystems. The concept and practices of the Circular Economy have often been addressed to implement a sustainable production chain; however, it still neglects the social and cultural dimensions. Founded on the fashion production chain processes and their impacts on the lives of those who manufacture garments, on the community and environment in which we live, the purpose of this article is to present a sustainable model for designing and manufacturing fashion products. Social Economy values such as the social development of the people and communities involved, holistic development of the human being, diffusion of feelings of cooperation, respect, solidarity, and commitment, and, above all, ethical behaviors are the groundwork of this study. This framework absorbs characteristics of the Social Economy in the fashion industry and values sustainable human development supported by educational programs for workers, socially responsible sewing workshops, collaborative design, recognition of local knowledge, and social entrepreneurship. Furthermore, this model will empower the wage-earner community that produces fashion by participating in the design and development of apparel products. The methodology used included a literature review and analysis of reports; after identifying critical points of Social Economy theories, this study aims to provide a fairer model for developing products oriented towards the humanization of productive relations, transparency, and sustainability. Despite including SE's humanistic components to fulfill the CE's social gaps, this plan for Social Circularity can only overcome a few of the recurrent problems in fashion production. Standing as an in-progress framework requires both validation and deepening of socio-ecological aspects in implementing a holistic economy in its total multidimensionality.

The objective of this study is to present relevant data which would support proposed taxonomy and methodology in physical-cognitive based control models of human performance. This approach can be applied directly to the development of emerging worker/user body systems with equal emphasis on biomechanical and cognitive performance. The worker’s biomechanical and physiological responses and functions are not imposed by the environment but are established by the system itself. Thus, there is an emerging need for the concept of a human system with perceptive insight into the complexity of the mutual relationships of the human biomechanical measures and cognitive factors. The description of human operators/users should reflect the biomechanical measures of fatigue and the complexity of brain activity, which includes cognition and the dynamic process of knowing. Many system control problems arise from a lack of attention to the interactions among different human system components in relation to the work/activity environment. In order to predict the ecological connectivity there is an arising necessitation to model the mutual relationships of environment, perception, body sensors and task. The proposed method can be represented in terms of control-theoretical features for quantitative predictions in the various work environment behaviors.

Although urban form can significantly affect outdoor climatic conditions, urban planners do not sufficiently consider such impact while designing new urban communities in Egypt. Proper configuration of urban blocks can make positive contribution to alleviating the adverse effects of urban climate. However, new cities are constructed to be formed from lowly dense buildings that overlook curvilinear streets networks without considering orientation. Furthermore, the use of unified building heights, spaces of low aspect ratio and high sky view factor lead to less shaded areas. The research at hand aims to shed light on literature that discuss urban form parameters and their relation with outdoor spaces thermal performance in warmer climates. These studies are classified, analysed and compared in terms of the investigated parameters, and the methodological approach of each study. The findings can help to define gaps in the existing literature while providing holistic overview of the current state of art.

Abstract The avant-garde inclinations in the socio-political and cultural milieu of Yugoslav socialism postulated the concept of synthesis as the central theme in architecture and visual arts. This was facilitated by the critique of functionalist and formal concepts and by promoting ideas of organic systems that balance natural and built environments and are unsustainable outside the context of integrity. Vjenceslav Richter was probably the most persistent in developing the concept of synthesis among Yugoslav architects, proposing a global, holistic and systematic approach. In the early 1960s, Richter used experimental models to explore spatial-plastic relations, which led to the development of the concept that provided synthetic solutions for urban functions – synthurbanism. Richter’s theory of the organisation of living synthesis was rooted in the key concepts of socialist society – harmonious relations between individuals and the collective and human as an integrated biological and social being. The premise of this study is that the original ideological agenda of Yugoslav Socialism based on the values of Marxist humanism provided a comprehensive social and philosophical context for the concept of synthesis.This study aims to describe a broader context of synthetic thought in Yugoslav society through the architectural and urbanistic ideas of Vjenceslav Richter. His utopian model is based on the premise that the environment represents a system of intertwined functions and that living space and humans are integrated into interactive processes, which show functional correlativeness in achieving sustainable urban living. The diversity of costumer’s needs requires manufacturers to provide a complex package of product and service. In contrast to traditional matured methods used for product design, Product/Service Systems (PSS) design still has a large room for development because of three following core research challenges: 1) development of a common shared structure to represent and understand PSS’s elements and their relations; 2) systematic modelling approaches to formulating design problems; and 3) holistic consideration of social, technological, economic and ecological elements. This paper aims to propose a novel framework for PSS design by addressing three issues above. The proposed framework is derived step-by-step from a natural language description of PSS environment using Environment-Based Design (EBD) methodology. The proposed framework attempts to accommodate the recursive scenarios in PSS design along with PSS lifecycle. The PSS environment will be firstly analyzed through a question-asking strategy. Besides, a set of graphical tools will be presented to support the development of framework, such as product-environment system, performance network, and conflict map. A case study, concerning the service design of intellectual property protection in collaborative product development, will be presented to illustrate the proposed framework.
