Streszczenie:

In higher education, shortages of faculty members in engineering and business schools are considered extremely serious. Similar conditions of shortage exist in elementary and secondary schools in the mathematics and science teacher market. This paper examines what strategies are employed by the higher education institutions and whether these strategies can provide some options for elementary-secondary schools. What we have found is that the basic parallel between elementary-secondary schools and higher education should not be overdrawn. More nonsalary options are available to address the market shortages at the university level than at the elementary-secondary level. Accordingly, the situation of elementary and secondary schools is considerably worse. Even so, it is interesting to see the degree to which all the adjustments at the university level still leave shortages that must be remedied through salary differentials and other benefits. Therefore, it is difficult to see how elementary and secondary schools, with fewer nonsalary options, can effectively deal with the shortage conditions without wage and benefit adjustments.

Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence and support individuals who need to achieve administrative goals. Leading is the major role of the Head of an institution. Leadership is expected to deal with change, inspiration, motivation, and influence. Task and relational behaviours of the Heads of higher secondary schools should equally be embedded for effective administration. Therefore an attempt has been made to ascertain the leadership behaviour of the Heads of higher secondary schools in Kerala. The investigators used simple random sampling technique for selecting the sample of 1500 higher secondary school teachers to study the leadership behaviour of the Heads. The main objective of the study is to find out whether there is any significant difference in respect of leadership behaviour of Heads of higher secondary schools with respect to gender, locality and type of management. This study revealed that there is significant difference between male and female Heads of higher secondary schools with respect to their leadership behaviour and no significant difference is found between rural and urban Heads, government and private higher secondary school Heads with respect to the leadership behaviour. It is found that male heads of higher secondary schools have higher leadership behaviour. Therefore female heads of higher secondary schools should be suitably trained for effective leadership behaviour

The higher education diversity programs that Texas enacted after Hopwood v. University of Texas banned affirmative action had unexpected positive consequences for the state’s high schools. The Texas top 10% law, the Longhorn Opportunity Scholarship and Century Scholarship programs, and the Towards Excellence, Access and Success Grant program each explicitly linked postsecondary opportunities to high school performance and clearly articulated that link to students across the state. As a result, these programs worked as K–16 school reforms, using college opportunities as incentives to improve educational outcomes at the high school level. Using panel data describing Texas high schools between 1993 and 2002, the author demonstrates that Texas’s post- Hopwood higher education policies redistributed college-related activity at public high schools and boosted high school students’ academic engagement.

Social media is a convenient network of communication for people nowadays. This study is an attempt to examine the application and usefulness of social media activities in academics. The main objective of the study is to find out the level of social media activities of the higher secondary students concerning gender, class, locality of the school, and types of school. The sample size for the study comprised 707 students. The investigator used the social media activities scale prepared and validated by D.Johnraj David and Dr.P.Muthupandi. A Simple random sampling technique was used to collect the sample from various schools. Data was analysed through mean, standard deviation, and “t” tests. The findings of the study indicate that (i) male students have significantly higher use of social media activities than female students (ii)students studying in XII standard have significantly higher use of social media activities than students studying in XI standard students (iii) urban locality school students have significantly higher use of social media activities than rural locality school students(iv) students studying in aided schools have significantly higher use of social media activities than students in unaided schools.

While assessing mathematics performance, attitude towards mathematics and Mathematics learning are frequently cited as factors contributing to success. The present study has been conducted to investigate students’ attitude towards learning mathematics in the higher secondary schools of Assam, India. It is sought to understand the influence of Gender and School Environment (Government and Private) in the study of the subject Mathematics. ATMS (Attitude Towards Mathematics Scale), developed by Dr. S. C. Gakhar, and Dr. Rajni was used to find out the attitude of students towards learning mathematics and their achievement in mathematics both in terms of gender as well as school management pattern. Out of a population of 340 students studying at the higher secondary (10+1) level in the Balijana Block of Goalpara District, a sample of 102 students (56 boys and 46 girls) were selected through Stratified Random sampling technique. One Provincialized, one Government and two Private schools were selected based on purposive sampling technique. The achievement of the students in Mathematics at higher secondary level depends on the gender of the students. The study revealed that achievement level of the male students in Mathematics at higher secondary level is more than that of their female counterparts. The achievement of the students in Mathematics at higher secondary level depends on the school environment. The achievement level of the students in private schools is better than the Government schools. The male students show more positive attitude towards learning Mathematics than the female students. Among the eight components, in few components students of Government schools show more positive attitude than Private schools. Whereas, in some components students of Private schools show more positive attitude than students of Government schools. Therefore, attitudes towards mathematics can be developed through encouraging students and motivating them for learning through constructivism and innovations. Teachers, school environment and home environment should be conducive and shouldn’t hamper students’ mathematical performance throughout their schooling

The world is becoming more and more competitive and for the performance and personal progress is the key factor. A study was designed to know teachers' perceptions regarding students' performance at the higher secondary school level. All the higher secondary school students (male and female) were the population of the study. The higher secondary schools of district Toba Tek Singh were considered for the target population. The 80 teachers (40 male and 40 female) were chosen as a study sample proportionate from the 17 higher secondary schools. The collected data were statistically analyzed using descriptive statistics frequency and percentages with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The demographic characteristic of respondents shows that the vast majority of teachers have a graduate degree, and half of the teachers belong to the 25-50 age category and have up to 10 years experience, respectively. The teachers’ response indicated that students of higher secondary schools have confidence in asking and answering questions.

The purpose of the study was to analyze the postural deviation among the CBSE Higher Secondary School Boys and Government Higher Secondary School Boys. For the purpose of the study, a total of 200 higher secondary school boys randomly were selected from the CBSE Higher Secondary Schools and Government Higher Secondary School in Sivagangai District, Tamilnadu, India. The age of the selected subjects were ranged from 15 to 17 years. The subject belonged to different areas of Sivagangai districts. Before rating the postural deformities the investigator had briefly explained about test items to the subjects, the purpose of the study and their role, the subjects were motivated to give relevant personal data and co-operate to take the necessary postural deformities rating test. The test for the study was New York Posture Rating Test Prior to the administration of tests the investigator assembled the subjects and briefed them about the purpose of the tests and the testing procedure. New York State Physical Fitness Test manual includes a posture assessment method. This test contains a series of profile illustrating 13 posture areas. For each area 3 profiles are provided for good, fair and poor posture. These are scored 5, 3 and 1 respectively. The data collected from the groups on the selected variables were statically examined to find out whether there was any significant difference between CBSE Higher Secondary School Boys and Government Higher Secondary School Boys, ‘t’ ratio was employed. The level of significance was fixed at 0.05 level of confidence. On the basis of result and within the limitation of present study the following conclusion were derived from this study. It is concluded that there is significant difference on postural deformities between the two groups the result revealed that the Government school students was better than the C.B.S.E School Students

The roles of physical activity and the reduction in sedentary activities in the healthy physical, psychosocial and mental development of children and adolescents are undisputed. This is where the concept of Moving School comes in, which has been expanded to a holistic approach that takes into account all areas of the school, including lessons, after-school care and breaks, and aims to provide students with a sufficient level of physical activity. There are no current studies that show to what extent this concept has arrived in the theoretical specifications for higher secondary schools and to what extent it is implemented in practice. In this study, by conducting a narrative review, we determine the core elements of the concept of Moving School. Furthermore, we analyse the extent to which these elements of Moving School are taken into account in the school curriculum, in published school programmes and on school homepages. In this study, we revealed that the concept of Moving School has hardly been implemented in practice in Bavarian higher secondary schools as mostly only single elements of it are referred to in the school curriculum, programmes and school homepages. It can therefore be assumed that the concept has not yet been able to achieve its intended effect, namely, to fill the daily lives of schoolchildren with movement, play and sport.

The main objective of the study was to compare the Academic Achievement of Higher Secondary Students of Uttar Pradesh State in India. The data was collected from the Higher Secondary Student’s studying in the Higher Secondary Schools of Uttar Pradesh State. The data of the present study was collected from 700 students selected at stratified random sampling basis from 70 higher secondary school’s (10 students from each school) of 35 districts of U.P, selecting two schools from each district at random basis. Academic format for collecting academic achievement of the subjects, as included in the openionnaire. For this purpose, the marks achieved by the individuals in their Class-X th SSC examination were taken as their academic achievement. In order to obtain the scores on academic achievement of the subjects, the marks obtained by them in the annual examination taken by SSC for class tenth were collected from their Mark sheets issued by SSC Board. Mean, S.D. and‘t’ test methods were used for statistical analysis. Conclusion: The Obtained critical ratio indicates insignificantdifference between two categories of academic achievement of students belonging to good and poor.

In particular, science-integrated information literacy competencies have been selected that may easily be mapped to, and extended for, higher education. The present study aims to find out the relationship between emotional intelligence and reasoning ability of the higher secondary students. Among the population, 724 samples of higher secondary students were selected randomly from Puducherry region. Findings of the study were i) significant difference is found between male and female higher secondary students in their reasoning ability in science on analogical reasoning, classification as reasoning, eclectic reasoning, deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning.ii) Significant difference is found between male and female higher secondary students in their emotional intelligence on intrapersonal awareness. iii) Significant difference is found among government, aided and unaided schools of higher secondary students in their reasoning ability in science on classification as reasoning and eclectic reasoning. iv) Significant difference is found among government, aided and unaided schools of higher secondary students in their emotional intelligence on intrapersonal awareness, interpersonal awareness, intrapersonal management and interpersonal management. v) there exists significant positive relationship between reasoning ability in science and emotional intelligence of higher secondary students.

This study was conducted with the aim to find out educational problems faced by the teachers at higher secondary level by keeping in mind their most common issues regarding discipline, books, environment regarding teaching and learning, conduction of exams. This study was descriptive in nature and survey method was used to identify the higher secondary teachers’ perceptions about educational problems that they faced. The sample has been selected while using the convenient sampling technique. The total 215 teachers were working in the boys’ HSCs selected as the sample. On the other hand 282 female teachers have been selected for the study as a sample. The researcher collected the data while adapting the close ended questionnaire developed by (Ayub, 2014). There are 32 items included in the aforementioned research questionnaire. The descriptive statistics percentage and Mann Whitney U test was applied by the researcher to analyze the data. In the light of findings of current study it is concluded that the educational problems exist at Higher Secondary schools Lahore. However, the teachers replied that they try to resolve the students’ problem by discussing the issues with their colleagues, principals and most importantly with students as well. It was also concluded that there was no mean score difference in male and female teachers regarding the existence of problems faced at Higher Schools Lahore.

Code switching (CS) is an inevitable natural phenomenon of bilingual classrooms of Pakistan. The study aims at analyzing the context, reasons and effects of code switching on teaching and learning, English at higher secondary schools of Faisalabad. This study was conducted at higher secondary schools (boys) of Tehsil Faisalabad City. There are total 24 higher secondary schools (boys) in District Faisalabad. Out of these 24 schools, 11 schools were in Tehsil Faisalabad City. Three higher secondary schools were selected through random sampling technique. The sampling frame was made by taking the list of teachers and students from the selected schools. There were 19 English teachers and 366 students in these schools. All the teachers were taken as respondents, whereas, the sample size for students was calculated 188 through online available software www.suveysystem.com with confidence level 95% and confidence interval 5%. Proportionate sampling technique was used to select the respondents. For collecting data, a well-structured questionnaire was developed. The collected data was analyzed through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). For interpretation and discussion of results, the collected data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, i-e, percentages, means and standard deviation. The results revealed that teaching and learning process is facilitated by the use of CS in classroom. It should be used to make teaching and learning easy. Moreover, it should be used to involve the students in classroom activities. Seminars and trainings should be arranged for the better use of CS.

English is taught as a compulsory subject from primary to graduation level in Pakistan. Even then, the failure rate of students in English subject is alarming, and communication skills in English are poor. This study was conducted to analyze the obstacles faced by students in learning English language, and to suggest possible solutions to overcome these obstacles. This study was conducted in girls higher secondary schools of Tehsil Faisalabad City. There were total 36 girls higher secondary schools in District Faisalabad. Nine girls higher secondary schools are in Tehsil Faisalabad City. From these nine schools, three girls' higher secondary schools were selected through simple random sampling. There were 17 English teachers who were teaching in these schools, then all the 17 teachers and 958 students were taken as population. All 17 English Subject teachers were the respondents, whereas the sample size for students was calculated 274 through online software with a confidence level 95% and confidence interval 5%. A proportionate sampling technique was used to select the respondents from students. For collecting data, a well-structured questionnaire was developed. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics i-e percentages, means and standard deviation through computer software SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for interpretation and discussion of results. The results revealed that students are facing many problems in learning of English language (EL). It is suggested that the students should be provided EL learning facilities in schools as well as at houses.

The study aimed to identify the relationship between social intelligence and academic achievement of higher secondary students. The investigator adopted survey method to study the social intelligence between students from selected government, private and aided school. For this study a sample of 300 school students from eight various schools which are situated in Palakkad district selected by the investigator using simple random sampling technique. The findings revealed that there is no significant relationship between social intelligence and academic achievement. This study shows that students do not find healthy environment in schools for developing their social intelligence. The schools fail to provide a proper environment to develop better relationship, positive behavior, social skills positive attitudes and good mental health in students.

The paper presents the results of a comparative analysis of the educational environment at specialized and secondary schools in the assessments made by students, and indices of their psychological well-being. Materials and Methods. The study relied on the methods of “The scale of psychological well-being” (С. Riff, as adapted by N. N. Lepeshinsky), “The scale of subjective well-being” (A. Perrudet-Badoux, G. Mendelssohn and J. Chiche, as adapted by M. V. Sokolova), and “Psychological safety of the school’s educational environment” (I. A. Baeva). Results. Students of specialized schools have a higher level of psychological well-being. They are characterized by a desire to grow and develop, and openness to a new experience. They are aware of the realization of their potential, have a developed system of personal criteria, and are independent of the opinions of others. Conclusion. The findings have shown that the educational environment of specialized schools is rated higher by students in most of the studied indices compared to secondary schools. The study was aimed to examine the issues of English curriculum implementation at higher secondary level schools in Punjab. The study is quantitative in nature. The sample of the study was comprised of 429 English teachers teaching at higher secondary level schools. Stratified sampling technique was used to select the sample and one instrument was used for data collection named Issues of English Curriculum Implementation Questionnaire (IECIQ) comprised of 58 items developed by the researcher on a 5-point Likert scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). The reliability of questionnaire of issues on English curriculum implementation was found .82. The instrument was also validated from 5 experts of relevant areas which assisted in refining language, clarity in items and sentence structure. The data were collected through survey research method and were analyzed by applying descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that English teachers used to face issues in English curriculum implementation at higher secondary level schools such as lack of communication skill, inappropriate teacher trainings, teaching method and methodology, multicultural society, lack of social and ethical development of students, lack of teaching resources and aids, inappropriate assessment procedures, misalignment of the content of English textbook, insufficient institutional resources, inappropriate government policies regarding English curriculum implementation and immeasurability of students learning outcomes written in English curriculum document. The results of the study suggested to give motivation to English teachers by providing attractive incentives, appropriate training programs and proper supervision of curriculum implementation of English subject.

It is proposed that the transition from secondary to higher education can be facilitated by improving secondary school students’ capabilities for independent, self-directed, and self-regulated learning (SRL). University learning places high demands on students for complex and independent learning, namely learning that requires the ability to plan, monitor and evaluate one’s work and to control one’s motivation and emotion. A major stream of educational research has shown the beneficial impact of self-regulated learning on student motivation and has concluded that self-regulation is a significant source of achievement differences among students. However, many secondary school students lack the skills of an independent and self-regulated learner when they enter higher education, something that contributes to considerable student attrition during the first year of university study. In this article I argue that more attention should be paid to the promotion of self-regulated learning in secondary schools. This can be achieved by helping teachers understand how to enrich students’ knowledge about learning and strategies to manage it. Some exemplary practices developed at secondary schools are discussed as a means of providing examples of effective learning environments for SRL.

This study is intended to examine the correlation between working memory of students and their academic performance in Mathematics. Specifically, it was aimed to determine the degree of relationship between working memory capacity and academic achievement of students in mathematics studying at secondary school. A sample of 800 students studying in grade 10 was randomly selected from forty government and private secondary schools (girls and boys) situated in Hazara division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Both Urdu and English mediums of instruction schools were included in the sample. The researcher used digits span backwards test (DSBT) to find out the working memory capacity of the students associated with their academic performance in mathematics. This study revealed that girls have outperformed boys very markedly in examination scores of mathematics at secondary level. Contrarily, boys have performed well in working memory capacity than girls at the secondary level. However a very small gender difference is observed in this study. It is also noticed that private secondary schools showed higher performance in examination scores of mathematics and in working memory capacity than government secondary schoolsl.

Context: The presence of athletic trainers (ATs) in secondary schools to provide medical care is crucial, especially with the rise in sports participation and resulting high volume of injuries. Previous authors have investigated the level of AT services offered, but the differences in medical care offered between the public and private sectors have not been explored. Objective: To compare the level of AT services in public and private secondary schools. Design: Concurrent mixed-methods study. Setting: Public and private secondary schools in the United States. Patients or Other Participants: A total of 10 553 secondary schools responded to the survey (8509 public, 2044 private). Main Outcome Measure(s): School administrators responded to the survey via telephone or e-mail. Descriptive statistics depict national data. Open-ended questions were evaluated through content analysis. Results: A greater percentage of public secondary schools than private secondary schools hired ATs. Public secondary schools provided a higher percentage of full-time, part-time, and clinic AT services than private secondary schools. Only per diem AT services were more frequent in the private sector. Regardless of the extent of services, reasons for not employing an AT were similar between sectors. Common barriers were budget, school size, and lack of awareness of the role of an AT. Unique to the public sector, remote location was identified as a challenge faced by some administrators. Conclusions: Both public and private secondary schools lacked ATs, but higher percentages of total AT services and full-time services were available in the public sector. Despite differences in AT services, both settings provided a similar number of student-athletes with access to medical care. Barriers to hiring ATs were comparable between public and private secondary schools; however, remote location was a unique challenge for the public sector.

This study aims at investigating the problems which have been encountered by higher secondary schools students when they try to learn English pronunciation. The problem of this study is that most of the higher secondary school students in Sudan produced incorrect pronunciation for many of English words. So this study is attempted to deal with problem to find the most suitable solutions for it. The participants are Sudanese students of higher secondary schools especially at Shikan locality in Northern Kordofan State. The researcher uses the descriptive analytical approach because it is suitable for such studies. The data of this study is collected by means of recording test and questionnaire. The findings showed that the problems of pronunciation are the result of many teaching difficulties, and the strategies of teaching pronunciation are helpful in producing correct speech pronunciation. Finally the researcher recommends that: Sudanese EFL learners, who are specialized in ELT, should obtain a high level of intelligibility, and the language laboratory should exist in all the higher secondary schools to practice phonetic exercises.

Indicator of social competence of secondary schools adolescent boys and girls aged 15–16 is analyzed in the article. The aim of the investigation is to reveal the level of the indicators of social competence of adolescents aged 15–16 according to their sex. Social competence of secondary schools adolescents aged 15–16 is the object study. 371 adolescents (192 girls and 179 boys) aged 15–16 from secondary schools participated in the study. The results of the research that evaluation of boys and girls from secondary schools according to some level of indicators is different. While comparing distribution of different groups of boys and girls according to the level of indicator of social competence statistically reliable difference was revealed: according to general trust (χ²(2) = 8.76; p < 0.05), resistance to failure and criticism (χ²(2) = 7.57; p < 0.05), ability to express feelings (χ²(2) = 6.84; p < 0.05), ability to ash for help (χ²(2) = 9.08; p < 0.05). The results showed that adolescents boys of secondary schools have a higher level of indicators of general self-confidence (p <0.05), resistance to failure and criticism (p < 0.05) than girls. It was revealed that girls and disposed to express then feelings (p < 0.05) and are able to ask for help more often (p < 0.05) than boys. However evaluation of secondary schools boys and girls statistically reliably was not different according to such indicators of social competence as uncompromise (p > 0.05), ability to demand (p >0.05), not to feel guilty (p > 0.05).

There were four schools represented among the Higher Secondary level in the Paschim Medinipur and Kolkata districts in West Bengal. This study was conducted on total participants of 153 students between 17 and 19 years of age, studying under the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. Basic demographic variables namely gender, Social Caste and Number of Siblings were considered for their self-awareness score to be significantly affected. The Present study was carried out using a cross-sectional survey research framework. The findings indicated the presence of a satisfactory level of self-awareness skills, with gender being associated with a statistically significant variation in mean scores. The results also indicated that the gender gap in self-awareness skills existed.

This study intended to explore the study habit of senior secondary school students in relation to Gender and type of school in the Una District of Himachal Pradesh. The sample of the study selected through simple random sampling technique. The sample comprised of 200 senior secondary school students. Study Habits Inventory (SHI) by Chandel and Paliwal (2012) has been used in this study. The results showed that female senior secondary school students obtained higher scores on the Interaction dimension while male students scored higher on the Support dimension of Study Habits Inventory (SHI). The results also revealed that students studying in government senior secondary schools had better study habits as compared to students studying in private senior secondary schools especially on the comprehension and Task-orientation whereas students studying in private senior secondary schools had better study habits as compared to government senior secondary schools in drilling dimension.

Discussed are problems of modern mathematical education: the development of the conceptual apparatus of mathematics, as well as the development of thinking in modal categories when proving mathematical propositions and solving probabilistic problems. The work is based on the results of the explication of the ontological foundations of mathematics obtained earlier. It is shown that the basis of a holistic, deep perception of the mathematical laws of being is categorical intuition with subsequent rationalization of mathematical objects. It is emphasized that such objects are not always possible to describe by means of extensional logic: an important place in the categorical structuring of mathematical knowledge is occupied by ontic modalities of the necessary and possible. The author expresses concern about the tendency of algorithmization of mathematical thinking in the learning process as opposed to historically established methods of creative search for proofs, alternatives, and opportunities. Special attention is paid to the topic of the teacher’s implementation of the ideological and educational function of mathematical science. Taking into account the enormous development of computing and information technologies, it is necessary to remember about the anthropological and humanitarian components of modern science and education. In substantiation of the relevance and discussion of the raised issues, the points of view of specialists from various fields are given: mathematicians, historians, teachers. This paper reports a survey of Bhutanese teachers’ Perception and Practices of Teaching Grammar in Higher Secondary Schools in Bhutan. The teaching of grammar in Bhutanese school is predominately guided by curriculum, whereby context-based teaching is mostly encouraged. The descriptive analysis based on quantitative findings of the study indicated that Bhutanese teachers generally believed that the formal study of grammar is essential to the eventual mastery of a foreign or second language. The study also showed that grammar is generally believed to be best taught explicitly, inductively or deductively, but not implicitly. Moreover, the teachers' remark on the importance of systematic practice of grammatical features and detailed error correction suggests that there is a preference for more extensive treatment of grammatical issues. The findings of the present study also indicate that, like the teachers reported in the 2002 and 2008 studies, teachers in Bhutan appreciate the centrality of grammar in their language teaching. This descriptive analysis based on quantitative findings would be beneficial to the curriculum developers, teachers, and lecturers in developing students’ grammar skills and providing professional development to teachers for effective delivery of grammar lessons

Self-concept is the cognitive aspect of self and generally refers to the totality of a complex, organized and dynamic system of learned beliefs, attitudes and opinions that each person holds to be true about his or her personal existence. Self-concept and achievement are dynamically interactive and reciprocal. It is found that certain psychological factors like self-concept plays a major role in determining the academic achievement of students. Hence the need for this study. A sample of 321 students in different categories of schools following different systems of education at the higher secondary level was chosen. The findings of the study conducted revealed that students belonging to central board schools were better in their self-concept and academic achievement when compared to students from other boards. There is also a significant and positive relationship between self-concept and academic achievement of students at the higher secondary level. This study aimed to investigate the impact of school climate on teachers’ workplace organizational deviant behavior. The main objectives of the study were to analyze the impact of principal behavior, teachers’ behavior towards their colleagues, school safety and school resources on teachers’ workplace organizational deviant behavior. The study was descriptive in nature. The population of this study consisted of all the teachers of government high and higher secondary boys’ schools of district Nowshera, Peshawar and Mardan. Using simple random sampling technique, 367 teachers were selected as a sample size from both urban and rural areas of the three sampled districts. Self-designed structured questionnaires were used to collect data from teachers about school climate and organizational deviant behavior of teachers. Confirmatory factor analysis technique was used and all the 5 variables were correlated with one another. Using structural equation model by AMOs, 4 null hypotheses were tested and all the null hypotheses were rejected. Data analysis revealed that school climate had significant impact on teachers’ workplace organizational deviant behavior. In general, it was concluded that those schools where school climate was positive and improved, there teachers’ behavior was less deviant. On contrary, teachers’ behavior was more deviant in those schools where climate of the school was adverse and negative. Moreover, climate of urban schools was improved as compared to climates of rural schools and teachers’ behavior was less deviant in urban schools as compared to teachers’ behavior in rural schools. Less experienced teachers were less deviant as compared to more experienced teachers. It was recommended that school climate should be improved which would minimize organizational deviance of teachers.

Widening access to Higher Education has been a priority globally in recent years. This has helped shape projects that work with educational establishments in more deprived communities to remove barriers to continued education. One such barrier is often the difficulty that students face in transitioning between educational environments. In Scotland, the Government have made widening access a key initiative and have supported projects that work towards this aim. The Dundee Academy of Sport (DAoS) project was established as a venture between Abertay University and Dundee and Angus College. The project works with schools from an SIMD20 (deprived) background and attempts to remove barriers to Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE). The project works throughout the educational continuum and supports students at each stage of transition. This study focused specifically on the work within secondary schools, FE, HE, as well as the role of DAoS in supporting transition across sectors. Six practitioners from three partner schools, two partner colleges and one lecturer at the university were interviewed to give their evaluation on how DAoS worked with their institution. At secondary level, work with senior pupils was highlighted as being useful in preparing students for FE and HE. Changes in attitude and mind-set for the pupils were noted among those who previously may not have considered continued education. Financial support and skills of DAoS staff were identified as being beneficial to schools. This suggests that a contextualised approach in schools can be useful for engaging pupils. This also suggests that by offering access to FE and HE establishments can make pupils consider these as viable options moving forward. Areas for improvement identified included further embedding of the project into FE and HE courses, further integration of staff, as well as the project being focussed more towards the senior phases of secondary schools.
