Streszczenie:
The Higgs sector of supersymmetric models with an additional SU (2)× U (1)Y singlet or an additional pair of Higgs doublet superfields is investigated. It is shown that in the model with a Higgs singlet bounds on Higgs boson masses are considerably weaker than in the minimal supersymmetric model; in particular, all neutral scalars can be heavier than about 150 GeV or lighter than [Formula: see text], whereas the mass of the charged Higgs boson is essentially unconstrained. The four doublet model resembles the minimal model more closely; in particular, the bounds for the heaviest and lightest neutral scalar and the heaviest charged Higgs boson are unaltered. In this model, many relations between masses of different Higgs bosons can be found; 44 of the 66 possible decays of one Higgs boson into another Higgs boson plus a real W or Z boson are kinematically forbidden. It is also shown that in both models, the lightest neutral scalar becomes indistinguishable from the standard model Higgs boson if all other Higgs bosons of the model are much heavier than Mw.

While the existence of a Higgs boson with a mass near 125 GeV has been clearly established, the detailed structure of the entire Higgs sector is yet unclear. Besides the Standard Model interpretation, various possibilities for extended Higgs sectors are being considered. The minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) features two Higgs doublets resulting in five physical Higgs bosons, which are subject to direct searches. Alternatively, more generic Two-Higgs Doublet models (2HDM) are used for the interpretation of results. The Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Model (NMSSM) has a more complex Higgs sector with seven physical states. Also exotic Higgs bosons decaying to invisible final states are considered. This article summarizes recent findings based on results from collider experiments.

Streszczenie:
One doublet of complex scalar fields is the minimal content of the Higgs sector in order to achieve spontaneous electroweak symmetry breaking and, in turn, to generate the masses of fundamental particles in the Standard Model. However, several theories beyond the Standard Model predict a nonminimal Higgs sector and introduce additional singlets, doublets or even higher-order weak isospin representations, thereby yielding additional Higgs bosons. With its high proton–proton collision energy (13 TeV during Run-2), the Large Hadron Collider opens a new window towards the exploration of extended Higgs sectors. This review article summarises the current state-of-the-art experimental results recently obtained in searches for new neutral and charged Higgs bosons with a partial or full Run-2 dataset.

We examine the allowed mass range of the charged Higgs field H+ in a minimal left-right symmetric model. We find that the mass of this Higgs is nearly degenerate with the mass of the flavor-changing neutral Higgs, and this implies MH+≳5~10 TeV. We examine a number of solutions, but fail to evade this restriction. If this constraint can not be avoided, the H+ (and very likely all other left-right extended Higgs particles) would be virtually undetectable at all experimental facilities, including the SSC.

The new particle recently discovered at the Large Hadron Collider has properties compatible with those expected for the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson. However, this does not exclude the possibility that the discovered state is of non-standard origin, as part of an elementary Higgs sector in an extended model, or not at all a fundamental Higgs scalar. We review briefly the motivations for Higgs boson scenarios beyond the SM, discuss the phenomenology of several examples, and summarize the prospects and methods for studying interesting models with non-standard Higgs sectors using current and future data.

We examine the Higgs sector of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model. The requirement of perturbative unification combined with the recent LEP data on Higgs boson searches, excludes substantial regions of parameter space. We find that only 0.42 ≤ tan β≲0.76 and tan β≳1.30 are the allowed values for tan β=υ2/υ1. We also determine the absolute lower bound on the lightest Higgs mass to be ≈8 GeV. We conclude that improved lower bounds on the top quark mass and/or the standard model Higgs boson mass will impose yet more stringent constraints on the model. These results clearly favor tan β>1, in agreement with N=1 supergravity or superstring-inspired models.

Streszczenie:
With multi-spinor fields which behave as triple-tensor products of the Dirac spinors, the Standard Model is extended so as to embrace three families of ordinary quarks and leptons in the visible sector and an additional family of exotic quarks and leptons in the dark sector of our Universe. Apart from the gauge and Higgs fields of the Standard Model symmetry G, new gauge and Higgs fields of a symmetry isomorphic to G are postulated to exist in the dark sector. It is the bi-quadratic interaction between visible and dark Higgs fields that opens a main portal to the dark sector. Breakdowns of the visible and dark electroweak symmetries result in the Higgs boson with mass 125 GeV and a new boson which can be related to the diphoton excess around 750 GeV. Subsequent to a common inflationary phase and a reheating period, the visible and dark sectors follow weakly-interacting paths of thermal histories. We propose scenarios for dark matter in which no dark nuclear reaction takes place. A candidate for the main component of the dark matter is a stable dark hadron with spin 3/2, and the upper limit of its mass is estimated to be 15.1 GeV/c2.

I review the Higgs sector of theU(1)B-Lextension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). I will show that the gauge kinetic mixing plays a crucial role in the Higgs phenomenology. Two light bosons are present, a MSSM-like one and aB-L-like one, which mix at one loop solely due to the gauge mixing. After briefly looking at constraints from flavour observables, new decay channels involving right-handed (s)neutrinos are presented. Finally, how model features pertaining to the gauge extension affect the model phenomenology, concerning the existence ofR-Parity-conserving minima at loop level and the Higgs-to-diphoton coupling, will be reviewed.

We review developments in top condensation starting from the first example which was a simple effective Nambu–Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model. The connection between the underlying four-fermion interaction and the structure of the composite Higgs sector is generalized to obtain the scalar sectors of a number of Standard Model extensions dynamically from some NJL model, as well as to include possible radial and spin excitations of the Higgs sector. In all these NJL models the symmetries do not forbid further higher dimensional four-fermion operators. If such operators could have arbitrary strength then this would result in arbitrary Higgs and top mass predictions. The nonrenormalizable NJL model is however thought to be only an effective description of some fully consistent theory where higher dimensional operators are not free parameters so that the corresponding four-fermion operators are restricted. We discuss renormalizable gauge theories of top condensation where this is the case. These models are therefore predictive and do not lead to arbitrary predictions.

In string theory, a scalar field often appears as a moduli of a geometrical configuration of D-branes in higher-dimensional space. In the low energy effective theory on D-branes, the distance between D-branes is translated into the energy scale of the gauge symmetry breaking. In this paper, we study a phenomenological consequence of a possibility that the Higgs field is such a moduli field and the D-brane configuration is stabilized by a stationary motion, in particular, revolution of D-branes on which we live. Then, due to the Coriolis force, Higgs mode is mixed with the angular fluctuation of branes and the Lorentz symmetry is violated in the dispersion relation of the Higgs boson. The Higgs boson mass measurements at LHC experiments give an upper bound [Formula: see text][Formula: see text][Formula: see text] GeV for the angular frequency of the revolution of D-branes.

We review the effects of new effective interactions on Higgs-boson phenomenology. New physics in the electroweak bosonic sector is expected to induce additional interactions between the Higgs doublet field and the electroweak gauge bosons, leading to anomalous Higgs couplings as well as anomalous gauge-boson self-interactions. Using a linearly realized SU (2)L× U (1)Y invariant effective Lagrangian to describe the bosonic sector of the Standard Model, we review the effects of the new effective interactions on the Higgs-boson production rates and decay modes. We summarize the results from searches for the new Higgs signatures induced by the anomalous interactions in order to constrain the scale of new physics, in particular at CERN LEP and Fermilab Tevatron colliders.

We explore some aspects of the phenomenology of the Higgs sector in a model that includes right-handed neutrinos, with a mass of the order of the electroweak scale. In this model all scales arise from spontaneous symmetry breaking, thus the Higgs sector includes an extra Higgs singlet, in addition to the Standard Model Higgs doublet. The scalar spectrum includes two neutral CP-even states (h and H, with mh < mH) and a neutral CP-odd state (σ) that can be identified as a pseudo-Majoron. The parameter of the Higgs potential are constrained using a perturbativity criteria, which amounts to solve the corresponding RGE. The relevant Higgs branching ratios and some cross-sections are discussed, with special emphasis on the detection of the invisible Higgs signal at the LHC.

In this paper, we propose an effective model scheme that describes the electroweak symmetry breaking sector by means of composite Higgs-like scalars, following the ideas of Minimal Walking Technicolor (MWT). We argue that, because of the general failure of Extended Technicolor (ETC) to explain the mass of the top quark, it is necessary to introduce two composite Higgs bosons: one of them originated by a MWT–ETC sector and the other produced by a Topcolor sector. We focus on the phenomenological differences between the light composite Higgs present in our model and the fundamental Higgs boson predicted by the Standard Model and their production at the LHC. We show that in this scheme the main production channel of the lighter Higgs boson is the associated production with a gauge boson and WW fusion but not the gluon–gluon fusion channel which is substantially suppressed.

Streszczenie:
We show that by combining the elementary Goldstone–Higgs scenario and supersymmetry it is possible to raise the scale of supersymmetry breaking to several TeVs by relating it to the spontaneous-symmetry-breaking one. This is achieved by first enhancing the global symmetries of the super-Higgs sector to SU(4) and then embedding the electroweak sector and the Standard Model (SM) fermions. We determine the conditions under which the model achieves a vacuum such that the resulting Higgs is a pseudo-Goldstone boson (pGB). The main results are: the supersymmetry-breaking scale is identified with the spontaneous-symmetry-breaking scale of SU(4) which is several TeVs above the radiatively induced electroweak scale; intriguingly the global symmetry of the Higgs sector predicts the existence of two super-Higgs multiplets with one mass eigenstate playing the role of the pseudo-Goldstone Higgs; the symmetry-breaking dynamics fixes [Formula: see text] and requires a supplementary singlet chiral superfield. We finally discuss the spectrum of the model that now features the superpartners of the SM fermions and gauge bosons in the multi-TeV range.

There is a discussion here on the problem of violation of CP invariance and its effect on the Higgs potential control parameters determination and the dark matter experimental constraints. We study a gauge-singlet vector-like fermion hidden sector dark matter model, in which the communication between the dark matter and the visible standard model sector is via the Higgs-portal scalar-Higgs mixing and also via a hidden sector scalar with loop-level couplings to two gluons and also to two hypercharge gauge bosons induced by a vector-like quark. We find that the Higgs-portal possibility is stringently constrained to be small by the recent LHC di-Higgs search limits, and the loop induced couplings are important to include. In the model parameter space, we present the dark matter relic density, the dark-matter-nucleon direct detection scattering cross section, the LHC diphoton rate from gluon-gluon fusion, and the theoretical upper bounds on the fermion-scalar couplings from perturbative unitarity.

Recently, it has been pointed out that dimensionless actions in four-dimensional curved spacetime possess a symmetry which goes beyond scale invariance but is smaller than full Weyl invariance. This symmetry was dubbed restricted Weyl invariance. We show that starting with a restricted Weyl invariant action that includes a Higgs sector with no explicit mass, one can generate the Einstein–Hilbert action with cosmological constant and a Higgs mass. The model also contains an extra massless scalar field which couples to the Higgs field (and gravity). If the coupling of this extra scalar field to the Higgs field is negligibly small, this fixes the coefficient of the nonminimal coupling [Formula: see text] between the Higgs field and gravity. Besides the Higgs sector, all the other fields of the Standard Model can be incorporated into the original restricted Weyl invariant action.

Connes's ideeas provide a framework in which the Higgs fields appear as components of a generalized gauge connection. This leads to theories with predictive power in the Higgs sector (for example, one can show that spontaneous symmetry breaking arises in a natural way). We describe a realization of this formalism where the underlying manifold is a two-sheeted space-time. We show how our particular formulation works for the case of the Standard Model and the Left-Right Symmetric Model.

Among the different scenarios of New Physics, those with an extended Higgs sector are examined with a lot of attention. Recent experimental observations of several anomalies in flavour physics with respect to expectations of the Standard Model further motivate the effort of phenomenologists. First, informations about the RDs ratio, a test of lepton flavour universality equivalent to RD, already measured, but with the s quark as spectator, are awaited in coming years to constrain the corner of an extended Higgs sector with charged doublets. On another side, leptonic widths of pseudoscalar quarkonia are particularly interesting to test an extended Higgs sector with a light CP-odd Higgs boson singlet, through the study of its mixing with quarkonia states. Hadronic parameters entering those processes have to be determined from lattice QCD with enough confidence on the control of systematic errors. We report on the very first step of a long-term program tackled with Nf = 2 Wilson-Clover fermions to put relevant constraints on extensions of the Higgs sector: extraction of decay constants of D*s, ƞc, ƞc (2S), J/Ψ and Ψ(2S) with lattice ensembles provided by the CLS effort, considering 2 lattice spacings and a large range of pion masses to estimate cut-off effects and extrapolate results to the chiral limit.

Streszczenie:
We present a general formalism based on the framework of noncommutative geometry, suitable to the study of the standard model of electroweak interactions, as well as that of more general gauge theories. Left- and right-handed chiral fields are assigned to two different sheets of space–time (a discretized version of Kaluza–Klein theory). Scalar Higgs fields find themselves treated on the same footing as the gauge fields, resulting in spontaneous symmetry breaking in a natural and predictable way. As a first test, we apply the formalism to the Standard Model, where one can predict the Higgs mass and the top Yukawa coupling. The results obtained for this case are similar with results obtained in alternate formulations. We then study the left–right symmetric model, where we show that this framework imposes interesting constraints on the type and coefficients of terms appearing in the Higgs potential.

Streszczenie:
We present a review of Higgs physics in the SM and beyond, including the tests of the Higgs boson properties that have been performed at LHC and have permitted to delineate its profile. After presenting the essential features of the BEH mechanism, and its implementation in the SM, we discuss how the Higgs mass limits developed over the years. These constraints in turn helped to classify the Higgs phenomenology (decays and production mechanisms), which provided the right direction to search for the Higgs particle, an enterprise that culminated with its discovery at LHC. So far, the constraints on the couplings of the Higgs particle, point towards a SM interpretation. However, the SM has open ends that suggest the need to look for extensions of the model. We discuss in general the connection of the Higgs sector with some new physics (e.g. supersymmetry, flavor and Dark matter), with special focus on a more flavored Higgs sector. Thus is realized in the most general 2HDM, and its textured version, which we study in general, and for its various limits, which contain distinctive flavor-violating signals that could be searched at current and future colliders.

Streszczenie:
We analyze the Next-to-minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with Grand unification boundary conditions under current theoretical and experimental constraints. We compute the mass spectrum of the model and focus on the three lightest particles in the Higgs sector (two CP-even scalars, [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and one CP-odd, [Formula: see text]). The reduced couplings of such particles, singlet-doublet components, their branching ratios to bosons and reduced cross-section to photons and massive gauge bosons via gluon fusion are thoroughly and systematically scrutinized. Our analysis is focused on the parameter space where the singlet-doublet coupling [Formula: see text] is as large as possible (keeping the perturbativity bound intact) and the ratio between the vacuum expectation values of the up-type and down-type Higgses [Formula: see text] is as small as possible, which is the region representing the most natural case of the NMSSM. We show the impact of recent constraints from the LHC on the SM-Higgs couplings to bosons and fermions on the parameter space of the model and the consequent implications on the Higgs sector. The results show that while the model is still able to account for current data, and provide an opportunity for discovery of extended Higgs sectors, recent LHC Higgs couplings constraints rule-out parts of the parameter space where [Formula: see text] (non-SM-like) and [Formula: see text] are non-singlet with masses below 400 GeV.

Streszczenie:
We have studied the existence of self-dual effective compact and true compacton configurations in Abelian Higgs models with generalized dynamics. We have named an effective compact solution the one whose profile behavior is very similar to the one of a compacton structure but still preserves a tail in its asymptotic decay. In particular, we have investigated the electrically neutral configurations of the Maxwell-Higgs and Born-Infeld-Higgs models and the electrically charged ones of the Chern-Simons-Higgs and Maxwell-Chern-Simons-Higgs models. The generalization of the kinetic terms is performed by means of dielectric functions in gauge and Higgs sectors. The implementation of the BPS formalism without the need to use a specific Ansatz has led us to the explicit determination for the dielectric function associated with the Higgs sector to be proportional to λϕ2λ-2, λ>1. Consequently, the followed procedure allows us to determine explicitly new families of self-dual potential for every model. We have also observed that, for sufficiently large values of λ, every model supports effective compact vortices. The true compacton solutions arising for λ=∞ are analytical. Therefore, these new self-dual structures enhance the space of BPS solutions of the Abelian Higgs models and they probably will imply interesting applications in physics and mathematics.
