The happiest outcomes of the work of the International Law Commission (ILC) result when those charged with reporting on a topic elucidate the existing law with maximum objectivity and accuracy and when, where desired, they formulate such possibilities for its avowed progressive development as find a solid basis in emerging practice or international jurisprudence and are unlikely to arouse implacable opposition among members of the Commission or member states of the General Assembly. This history should be foremost in the minds of those presently leading the Commission’s work on the immunity of state officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction as they come next session to report on possible limitations on and exceptions to such immunity. Whether the eventual aim is codification or reform, any consideration of this most controverted and combustible of contemporary questions of international law that is not based on an impartial and convincing assessment of relevant state practice and international case-law and that misreads the political temper of the times will end in tears, in the Commission itself and even more so in the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly.

Streszczenie:
Folk tradition in general is very often associated with natural entities, drawing its strength from believing in their magical properties. The cult of tree is one of the remnants of pagan elements that the Church accepted, because the people resisted all church proclamations, prohibitions and with their perseverance in respecting the cult of tree in all segments of life managed to preserve it. In that endeavor, the tree was given a new semantic meaning, which resulted in its partial imposition on the church. There are numerous examples of respect for the cult of the tree, which is noticeable within the multitude of customs and rituals that are still performed in rural areas throughout Serbia. In the Serbian folk tradition, a pine tree is often considered sacred if it is planted in a significant place or by an important person. A prominent example of such a belief can be found in the village of Gornje Nerodimlje, where the pillar of parliamentary customs was a pine tree, which, according to the beliefs of today's population, was personally planted by King Milutin and sung in the folk song "Oj, bore sabore." Given the current circumstances in which the Serb population was completely evicted from Gornje Nerodimlje, thus preventing them from accessing their long-guarded and respected sanctities, the Easter gathering, which many locals describe as the happiest holiday of their lives in Kosovo and Metohija, is destroyed along with the trees which represented a central elements of this tradition. Therefore, it is especially important to preserve this tradition from the memory of older locals. The semantic connection of the song to the pine tree certainly opens the possibility of analyzing the melodies in which the musical elements of depicting the meaning of the text can be noticed. In the minds of the displaced population of Gornji Nerodimlje, the song "Oj, bore sabore" is dedicated to King Milutin's pine tree. Although according to the dilemmas presented, we cannot claim that this tree has always been known as a handicraft of this historical figure, nor that the song was sung in the honor of that tree, we cannot deny that ancient tradition to people who lived in Gornje Nerodmlje or their descendants.

Cerebral Palsy is a disability resulting from damage to the brain before or during the birth and is manifested by muscular in-coordination and speech disturbances. They have been victims of public misunderstanding from the time that William John Little, MD, the English physician, recognised and publicised them in the year 1843. As a research project, the present investigators wanted to exp lore the world of spastic children by selecting artistry as the medium of expression of their thoughts, feelings, problems and needs. The study, through natural and participant observation as well as through interviews with counsellors, psychologists and medical professionals drew profiles of spastic children. The analysis of their drawings/paintings reflected their healthy bent of mind, positive attitudes towards life and necessity to be surrounded by happiness and healthy conditions. The study on the basis of their findings has given some concrete suggestions for the teachers and the parents with a proper accent on the following: ‘The disabled are people too. All people are different. What is so special about their difference?’

Who should be considered the most unhappy, the blind or the deaf? The intensive debate over this issue in the early 19th century is the outset of our study of how during the last two hundred years disability and happiness have become inextricably connected. On the basis of our historical analysis we have identified characteristics that also can be found in current happiness interpretations, namely the persistent role played by activation, professional intervention, and alignment with normative behaviors. In order to highlight this intimate connection between past and present we subsequently focus on the contemporary preoccupation with the happiness of people with disabilities, exemplified by research on the so-called “disability paradox” and the development of happiness indices within the behavioral sciences. Our thesis is that applying perspectives from disability studies to happiness research uncovers processes of exclusion and other modalities of power previously overlooked. In our examples, we recognize a desire to lay bare the inside of disabled people’s minds and impose on them un/happy subjectivities. We furthermore argue that the way we think of, and treat, both disability and happiness, i. e. by systematization and professionalization, belongs to a rationalization process which risks colonizing the emotional realm of disabled people. Thus we suggest a research program that ‘dis/ables’ happiness studies and, aided by historical analysis, reconsiders the emotional dimension of disability.

Across the globe the nations are trying to explore and identify the strategies which would help in enhancing the positive affect leading to ultimate happiness in each and every stratum of the society specifically among adolescents. Positive Psychological Interventions (PPIs) such as mindfulness, savoring, gratitude, kindness, empathy, meaning, flow exercises etc. are being applied to generate positive feelings and to attain the goal of sustainable happiness and well-being. Savoring is believed to be one such strategy in positive psychology which has shown promising effects in enhancing happiness, positive affect and reducing negative affect. The present study comprising of 300 (N=300) adolescents from the state of Haryana (India) made an attempt to explore relationship between savoring, happiness, positive affect and negative affect. Savoring Beliefs Inventory by Bryant (2003), Oxford Happiness Questionnaire by Hills & Argyle (2002) and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule by Watson et al. (1988) were applied to measure the variables. Savoring emerged as a significant correlate and predictor of happiness and positive affect among adolescents

Purpose – This paper aims to explore the complexity and dynamics in the process of negotiation and re-negotiation of brand associations within a Vietnamese cultural context, focusing on the identity construction created through local consumption preferences. t It explores how Western brands are symbolically important in Vietnamese consumers’ self-image. Design/methodology/approach – A total of 600 Vietnamese youth between 18 and 35 years living in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City completed the survey. A projective technique (storytelling) was applied to elicit the hidden thoughts and motivations among respondents. Findings – Vietnamese consumers increasingly attach themselves to certain brands to affirm their desired identity. They believe in “material goods bring happiness”. The symbolic meanings of brands (which we describe around six themes) become very important in their patterns of consumption in shaping their lived experience and the way they want to communicate their self-images. Practical implications – The paper’s insights can be of value to marketing and advertising professionals and to those with responsibility for consumer regulation in emerging markets. Social implications – The paper contributes to our understanding of how socio-political tensions are played out and managed in consumer culture and identifies particular contradictions which may drive future changes. Originality/value – The paper reports on a study which uses a neglected method to provide the latest data on consumer culture in Vietnam and links features of consumption-based identity to the specific Vietnamese historical, political, economic and socio-cultural context.

For longevity of a marriage, happiness plays a vital role in contemporary India. Marital happiness, a dimension of marital quality is determined by various marital factors such as self-esteem, communication, intimacy and marital satisfaction of couples. Communication plays a major role in marriage, and they are the key predictors of marital satisfaction in couple (Lavner, Karney and Bradbury, 2016). In marital life, communication is not simply the flow of information from the sender to the receiver but the ability of couples to share their thoughts and feelings to their spouses. This study aimed to have a focal point on the relationship between communication patterns and marital happiness of army couples. As army couples being a breed of its own this study was conducted among 128 army couples (128 husbands and 128 wives) in the age group of 21 to 30 years of age and within their five years of marriage life. Using the Marital Happiness Scale (Azrin, Naster, & Jones, 1973), the marital happiness level and the Communication Patterns Questionnaire (CPQ; Christensen, 1988) the communication pattern of army couples was measured. After statistical analysis, results indicated that the relationship between each pattern of communication is different and significantly correlated with marital happiness of army couples.

Extensive research has determined that music possesses the ability to evoke affective responses within human beings by systematically triggering the parts of the human brain that are controlled and regulated by means of dopamine. The concept of music holds an enigmatic quality, and it has been determined that it has been present throughout ancient human history as well. Hence it can be readily established that music holds a certain modicum of hedonic power that enables it to induce certain feelings of intrinsic satisfaction and happiness that can effectively mitigate the impact of mental stressors and initiate feelings of motivation, encouragement and power. This research article aims to systematically deduce the ability of music to invoke feelings of happiness within the minds of individuals. This research employed a secondary qualitative research design. A substantial body of literature was extracted from extant research publications and subjected to a systematic content analysis. Through this research, it can be readily concluded that music can potentially affect the human brain in profound ways. Listening to music can directly evoke feelings and emotions pertaining to happiness. The general happiness and satisfaction from ones life can be accurately measured through the levels of associated subjective wellbeing of a human at any particular point in time. This particular value averages at a certain level, which is representative of generalized life satisfaction in human beings and is directly proportional to happiness.

The scholastic mode of intellectual enquiry has been looked down upon in Western philosophical circles over the last few centuries, not least because of the central role of authorities shaping the reasoning that takes place and because of the fine distinctions and disputational mode of discourse it employs. The scholastic approach is, however, a prime example of philosophy as therapeia, of intellectual inquiry and reflection concerned with the healing transformation of human life, with what kind of knowledge and behaviour brings about human happiness. The scholastic approach is motivated and determined by consideration of what the final human goal might be and what are the means to achieve it. Authorities are important because they tell us about the goal and means. Distinctions and disputation are important because they help us learn in a way that transforms our minds and actions.

Abstract: The aim of a preacher is the conversion of judgments and behaviours. The tool of successful preaching is the efficacious word. The Jesuits, in keeping with classic and modern rhetoric, knew that words had the power to touch and move the hearer’s psychic disposition. In Aristotle and Aquinas’ philosophical psychology, the human soul is structured in external and internal sensorial potencies, affections, cognitive faculty and volition. The preacher’s words must move these potencies, also known as internal senses, which produce the immaterial objects that are closely linked to things in the world and through which the understanding can identify and abstract the nature of things. In the Sermao da Oitava da Pascoa of 1656, preached by Antonio Vieira in Belem, all these elements converge to induce the ‘desengano’ (‘disenchantment’). According to him, the sadness for not finding mines should be turned into happiness for preserving the true good of the Portuguese Kingdom, the souls.

The study is dedicated to the study of the problem of social loneliness. The theoretical and methodological base determines the significance of this phenomenon for modern society. In this regard, the issue of gender segregation in determining the factors of increasing social loneliness is extremely acute, since to a greater extent the marital and much less reproductive behavior of women can be associated precisely with the process of avoiding social loneliness as a social phenomenon, which requires clarification of these factors of the demographic development of society. Questions of studying social loneliness are also raised in the context of the need to preserve traditional family constructs. Modern social forms of avoiding social loneliness often form prerequisites for the distortion of family tradition and transform family and social forms of interaction. The article presents assessments of the phenomenon of social loneliness in the minds of women on the basis of a study. Social loneliness is considered in the context of women’s marital and reproductive behavior. At the same time, a comparison is made of the concepts of “social loneliness” and “happiness” within the considered subsample, differentiated by gender. The definitions of the concepts of “female happiness” and “index of happiness” are given, a scale of assessments of the happiness index in the interval between two antagonistic terms is given, and the index is calculated for the considered subsample. The results are based on the author’s empirical all-Russian research conducted in the spring of 2022 (N=2500, in the gender distribution, the sample population of women was 43% – 1075 people). The sample was defined as continuous, random, and at the last stage nested, since only one gender group was taken within the framework of this article – women. The results of the study are aimed at finding ways to reduce the risks of the formation of destructive socio-psychological constructs in women’s perception of themselves and the world through the prism of social loneliness, and also contribute to the development of recommendations for the development of sustainable family constructs of the traditional type.

This paper attempts to determine what laws’ most fundamental normative property is for Plato. After examining the Hippias Major and the pseudo-Platonic Minos, I argue that in the Laws this property is correctness ( orthotês) which is understood as maximizing the citizens’ happiness. I argue that laws failing to do so are defective as laws because they’re not partially grounded in the relevant ethical facts and that Plato is thus a natural law theorist. The last section provides further justification for the claim that laws failing the correctness criterion are defective as laws by appealing to Plato’s understanding of practical rationality.

There is a line of titles of Saint Mary mentioned by Pope Francis in his published encyclicals and apostolic exortations. However, we summarize them into seven new titles, namely, Saint Mary is the daughter of Zion, mother, queen, woman, star, bride, and the spring of happiness for the little people. We consider that the number seven title has opened the minds of the faithful about the joy of believing in the Triune God who saves the world and the significant role of Saint Mary in the success of this exalted work. The recognition of the seven new titles aims to support the understanding of the faith of the Catholic faithful in the Blessed Mary as Mother of God and Virgin. Apart from that, another goal is that the quality of the Church's faith in the virginity of Saint Mary and her mother of God will be strengthened. What kind of quality do you want to affirm? What he wants to affirm is the quality of the Church's faith which is rooted in the past of the Old Testament, which is flourishing and expanding in the present, and which will bear fruit to await eternal happiness in the future (eschatological). Thus, the seven new titles of Saint Mary can reveal the faith of the Church to live at all times.

It is an assumed opinion that the family is the main unit of society. The society and the family are in reciprocal influence: the healthier the families are, the healthierthe society and vice versa. Subjective wellbeing and satisfaction with life are important factors in family stability. Feeling of happiness and the image of a happy family in contemporary Czech and Latvian society are the focus of the research. In the research the data from an international survey on the lifestyle of contemporary families that have been collected during 2013 – 2014 in the Czech Republic and Latvia were used. A self-administered questionnaire data were collected in both countries as well. A mixed approach with emphasis on the quantitative approach to research was used in data analysis. The results showed a significant similarity, although the ‘feeling of happiness’ differed and varied in each specific family. So it was possible to use the same categories of „a happy family“ that had been found in both samples of data (Czech and Latvian)material, and they were: financial prosperity, good relationships and success in the family, cohesion within the family, doing things and spending leisure time together and a healthy family. The research results allow us to conclude that the family has a high value in people’s minds despite the rapid changes in the family structure and de facto high rate of divorce in both countries.

Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. As such, there is a huge responsibility on the elders of the Ummah to mould and nurture young minds in the true Islamic spirit and identity. In order to achieve that, the youth need to be inculcated in the best possible manner so that they are physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally developed into an integrated Islamic personality. It is believed that when the young Muslim minds are developed in accordance with the Islamic philosophy of education; peace, prosperity and happiness will prevail not only in the Muslim world, but the world at large. The idealism that calls for the development of the young Muslim mind is also embedded in the thoughts of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi. As one of the well-known Muslim reformers of his time, Nursi has called for the Muslims, particularly the youth, to return to the Qur’anic mode of thinking. Among the ethical values stated in the Qur’an are moderation, fairness and justice in the way of thinking and actions. In line with that, this paper highlights the importance of thinking, ethics and morality that have been stated in Nursi’s “Risal-e-Noor.” Due emphasis is given to analyze Nursi’s ideas with regard to youth and how to prepare them to be the next echelon of leaders. Relevant data to the research were collected from the print and internet sources followed by analysis using textual and content-analysis methodology. Keywords: Youth, Spiritual Life, Character Development, Managing Wealth, Success. Book review of: The News: A User’s Manual, by Alain de Botton, London: Hamish Hamilton, 2014, 267pp., ISBN9780241146477. The News:Sociologists, ethnographers, political scientists have all focussed their critical faculties on journalism and the news, so it is not surprising, perhaps, that a philosopher might do the same. And with what relish does Alain de Botton aim his powerful intellect upon the news, freshly honed on such discrete topics as love, travel, happiness, religion, architecture and sex. In the developed world, he says, the news now occupies position of power at least equal to that formerly enjoyed by religion. However, the news does not merely report on the world, it is ‘constantly at work crafting a new planet in our minds in line with its own often highly distinctive priorities’. De Botton uses examples of headlines to illustrate the news’ focus on disaster and mayhem and asks, plaintively, why? ‘Why so much grimness and so little hope?’

The context of the poem is set as the entry of the far-off days within the language of Agam, Puram. It is a stage of language development. Land has also played a major role in building the background of this system, namely language. Every country became a gem, offering abundance, an endless quality of culture, wealth, and happiness. Great symbols were included in this. One of the main driving forces of the meeting was language. The secondary agent was poetry. Those who walk along these two lines can be called language promoters. These are the creators who poured out the feelings they had in their minds to create their respective ideologies. A great linguistic thought established by such people was declared in ancient times as "Sangam Poetry." Among them were the women poets who spoke in a multifaceted manner, carrying influences beyond their borders. This article examines how Sangam poetry's use of "language" relates to its poets' capacity for expressiveness and how contemporary poetry functions.

Purpose – The purpose of this research is to understand the overall consumer experience, while highlighting the means through which consumers live and take possession of what they consume. Design/methodology/approach – Holt’s typology serves as the theoretical background. Choosing a netnographic framework, we analyze the coffee experiential universe of 41 Canadian consumers of Tim Hortons' coffee by studying their personal stories posted on the company’s website. Findings – Individuals predominantly associate the consumption of coffee with ritual, happiness, joy, travel companion and extended relationship. These categories relate to mystique (ritual); pleasure (happiness and joy); travel (travel companion); and love (family-like relationship). Research limitations/implications – We acknowledge that there is a danger of bias in our data considering that we used the narratives that recorded the highest hits. However, these narratives represent a socially constructed reality which was validated by Tim Hortons’ fans themselves. Practical implications – To maintain a strong market position, it is no longer sufficient to understand the associations linked to the overall experience of a product’s consumption. The company must also have ways of accessing or appropriating the consumer experience. Originality/value – The study shows that it is possible for today’s consumer products to become symbolic representations in the minds of consumers, provided that the consumer has a strong attachment to the brand. It is essential to understand the appropriation practices of consumers’ experiences, as these hold significant theoretical and managerial implications.

Purpose This study aims to explore how a New Jersey-based, national vision insurance company and a Pennsylvania pharmacy benefits manager have incorporated mindfulness into the workplace. National Vision Administrators (NVA) and BeneCard PBF offer mindfulness to all employees, which has markedly improved productivity and morale, created empathy and stronger teamwork. The practice of mindfulness has been known to enhance results, decision-making skills and empower individuals to thrive under pressure both inside and out of the workplace. Design/methodology/approach To evaluate the benefit of a daily or weekly mindfulness practice, NVA tapped Free Form Minds, a training consultancy specializing in mindfulness, to conduct a series of group trainings and one-on-one sessions. To ensure optimal success and results, Fee Form Minds customized its programs for the companies and individuals they worked with. Findings The findings show team members have reported feeling more energized, with increased levels of concentration and decreased tendency of procrastination. Practicing employees found themselves regularly surpassing their goals while also allowing them to be more present with their families and less stressed at home. Originality/value The practice of mindfulness can help employees reduce stress and be more effective and focused. When utilizing this tool, ongoing, they are more likely to capitalize on their strengths and better handle stress. Incorporating the practice of mindfulness into NVA and BeneCard PBF has created a greater sense of community among employees leading to a more cohesive and happier work environment. Mindfulness has allowed individuals to be more focused, less impacted by stressors and improve both their professional and personal lives.

Our minds constantly evaluate the confidence in what we see, think, and remember. Previous work suggests that confidence is a domain-general currency in adulthood, unifying otherwise independent sensory and perceptual representations. Here, we test whether children also possess a domain-general sense of confidence over otherwise independent perceptual dimensions. Six- to 9-year-olds completed either three simple perceptual discrimination tasks—a number task (“Which group has more dots?”), an area task (“Which blob is bigger?”), and an emotions task (“Which face is happier?”)—or three relative confidence tasks, selecting which of two trials they are more confident on. We find that while children’s discrimination performance across the three tasks was independent and constituted three separate factors, children’s confidence in each of three dimensions was strongly correlated and constituted only a single factor. Our results suggest that confidence is a domain-general currency even in childhood, providing a mechanism by which disparate perceptual representations could be integrated.

Does anyone who does change their minds/perspectives answer to the call of wisdom or they actually buttress the foolishness therein ingrained in their life’s outlook/worldview, generally? What is there to gain or lose by adjusting perceptions, positions, persuasions, and strategies to be an active agent in the pursuit of life in its fullness? Is it a crime to shift perceptions in whatever area of one’s life? Is joy always the outcome? In any case, on what authority can one conclusively argue that life is only about the pursuit of happiness, for everyone?

This ethno-epidemiological inquiry aims to comprehend hypertension-related experiences in the elderly population of Bambuí, in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It combines ethnographic descriptions with statistical data. The subjective significance of factors associated with adequate arterial pressure control is explored. A baseline cohort of 26 people with hypertension, randomly selected from a total number of 1,494 residents over the age of 60, was interviewed utilizing signs, meanings and actions methodology. Multivariate analysis shows an association (p < 0.001) between female gender and monthly household income and treatment of hypertension and adequate blood pressure control. The number of doctor visits is associated with treatment but not with adequate blood pressure control. Conflicting cultural construction of "blood pressure problems" contributes to "non-adherence" to treatment. There is a fine line between blood pressure "control" and what is perceived as health professionals "controlling" patients' lives. Doctor-prescribed regimes are perceived as "prohibiting life's pleasures" and "controlling" personal liberty and free choice. Giving elderly people a voice regarding their social context can promote autonomy, well-being and happiness in later life.

My literature review revealed that the ultimate happiness/truth stated in Buddhism is a matter of understanding the world differently from the way we do it generally. Literature also showed that many people in Buddha’s time understood the ultimate truth while listening to the discourse of the Buddha. Those who could not understand a matter then and there had to develop certain cognitive skills through various cognitive tasks such as further listening, discussing, thinking, and meditating. This is equally applicable to our educational settings as well because some students understand the subject matter during the lecture itself, while the others need involve in additional reading activities, discussions, tutorial work, and so on.

In critical thinking we learn the importance of being fair, and opening up closed and biased minds. In practical philosophy we must learn how to find our happiness in a world where others act with evil intentions. In contemporary Kenya one major challenge is how to react to those who might use witchcraft to try to harm oneself or one’s family. Regardless of whether witchcraft is “real” or not, it is possible to discern the root cause of witchcraft practices as due to jealousy and selfishness. By addressing the root problem, cases of witchcraft practice will diminish. The paper uses Kenyan philosopher Odera Oruka’s “sage philosophy” methodology, to interview rural sages who have reputations as being wise in their communities, so that professional philosophers can learn from their wisdom. For example, Saulo Namianya sees his role as helping to “level tongues” that had been high-pitched in their anger, so that people can discern the cause of a dispute and have it resolved. Adala Otuko emphasizes controlling one’s fear when one first sights a charm. Ngaimarish ole Mulo explains how to encourage parties who are sparring with each other to stop and consider the perspective of the other party. The sages are shown to be wise counselors who encourage critical thinking in their communities.

It was also investigated whether professional hierarchy and work tenure produced any significant differences for the aforementioned variables. The results of the study indicated that professionals working in different sectors, in different cadres, and in different work tenures indicated significant differences in their perceptions. Similarly, co-relational analysis results demonstrated that all essential components of well-being (WB) are profoundly, fundamentally, and decisively linked (p.01) with EI. To be sure, emotion influences how individuals think and act and influences judgement and information processing. Employees with higher EI can discover appropriate arrangements all the more easily, work and apply emotional resources sensibly and can frequently rapidly get social help in correspondence and cooperation with individuals, thereby lessening the chance of disappointment and the depersonalization achieved by disappointment.

Finally, he experienced a drought; spiritual and moral crisis that has an impact on his social life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the thoughts of Thomas Aquinas, who is a famous realist philosophy figure about spiritual and moral education as a solution to the problems of society in the era of disruption and its relevance to Islamic education. Aquinas' spiritual education is a process to educate people to know their God by optimizing their minds through the meaning of the five paths offered by Aquinas. Then, Aquinas' moral education is the process of forming behavior in accordance with God's instructions as an effort to achieve true happiness by always emphasizing actions that are in accordance with God's norms. The relevance of Aquinas' spiritual and moral education with Islamic education is that Islamic education is also a process to educate people to become obedient individuals to God and individuals who uphold moral values for their social life. Positive Psychology Interventions are a new branch of Psychology. Such interventions employ various techniques to improve psychological well-being and build positive feelings, behaviors, and cognitions rather than focusing on reducing negative emotions and negative cognitions. The broadening of positive emotions has been found to help in the development of long-term resources such as psychological resilience and flourishing. In this view, the review paper is aimed at exploring the impact of positive psychology interventions on patients with depression. The related literature was searched on PubMed and Google Scholar for all the available studies associated with Positive Psychology Interventions (PPI), Positive Psychotherapy, and PPI in depression. The search was restricted to 20-year-old studies, i.e., between 1998 and 2022. The review of studies shows that PPI is better or equally effective than Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) or treatment as usual. PPI results not only in the reduction of depressive symptoms but also in enhancing wellbeing, happiness, satisfaction in life, and attention. It was seen that there is a dearth of Indian studies with a clinical population. Future research needs to be done with a larger sample size among diverse populations and conducted by trained therapists; standard protocols should be followed; and long follow-up assessments need to be done.

The reason for choosing these zoonymic components is based on the fact that many birds live in close human neighbourhood and they are present for centuries in his everyday life, so the birds' names have become the part of phrasemes in French and in Serbian language. The study provides a better view of the reconstruction of the linguistic image of the world in the minds of French and Serbian speakers, as well as the nature of their relationship to the concepts presented by the phrasemes with the names of birds belonging to the semantic field HUMAN STATES AND EMOTIONS. By relying on linguocultural method of A. Wierzbicka and Kleiber's theory of semantic fields we classified the analysed corpus among 15 semantic subfields depending on the concept that they represent: SADNESS, HAPPINESS, UNHAPPINESS, INDIFFERENCE, LOVE, FREEDOM, DISCOURAGEMENT, CONFUSION, DISPUTE, LOSS OF MIND, FEAR, DRUNKENNESS, STATE OF DEATH, MAN'S FINANCIAL SITUATION, MAN'S MARITAL STATUS.

Integrating values in curricular and pedagogical activities has become a pressing need to produce responsible social citizens with good hearts and great minds. To cultivate these traits, values need to be reflected in and be the part of school curriculum and pedagogy. In this context, school practices play a pivotal role to make values a part of everyday activity. This study attempts to examine such practices in public, private, and traditional/religious schools in Nepal. Schools were selected purposively by visiting their online profiles. Information was collected from twenty school heads via a semi-structured interview, school visits, and classroom observations. The study found that private and public schools have initiated teaching/integrating values through a range of curricular structures and pedagogical practices like happiness curriculum, IB curriculum, education in human values curriculum, living school curriculum, culture-based [sanskar] curriculum, progressive learning approach, and innovative pedagogical models. It was also found that schools have designed their internal curricula within the spirit of the national curriculum framework to integrate soft skills and values in regular lessons. Traditional/religious schools have been found blending general courses and certain religious values like Gurukul schools- teaching Vedic values, Madrasa schools- teaching Islamic values, Gonpas/Monasteries- teaching Buddhist/Tibetan values, and St. Xavier schools- teaching Jesuit values. Having these noticeable initiatives in values education in Nepal, effective endorsement from the policy level is required for visible impacts.

Purpose: This study examined materialism among South African tweens. The goal of the study was to determine whether demographic differences such as age, gender, and socioeconomic status have a bearing on children’s attitudes to materialism. Theoretical Framework: Scholarly interest into childhood materialism has been concerned with how materialism develops, how it is sustained and the effects of materialism. The current study hypothesises that age, gender and socioeconomic class have an influence on children’s attitudes on material happiness, material success, and material centrality as first- order constructs for materialism, and consequently, how they have an influence on materialism. Design/methodology/approach: The study adopted a quantitative methodology, with a self-administered questionnaire as the data collection instrument. An adapted 9-item Material Values Scale for children (MVS-c) was used to measure material centrality, material happiness and material success as first-order factors for materialism. Data were collected from a sample of 192 school children aged 10 to 14. Structural equation modelling was used to validate the scale while the independent samples t-test and ANOVA were used to assess the demographic differences. Findings: The results revealed that there are gender differences in tweens’ attitudes towards materialism but no age and socioeconomic differences. The results also revealed that demographic differences exist regarding some of the materialism factors but not others. The study overall found that demographics have a limited influence on children’s attitudes regarding materialism. Research, Practical & Social implications: The study offers a glimpse into the minds of South African tweens regarding their materialistic values. The paper enriches the literature on childhood materialism by bringing perspectives from cultures other than the West, which has dominated much of the knowledge on child consumers. Originality/value: Materialism in children has been examined in various social science disciplines from a variety of perspectives. However, much of the studies have been on Western child consumers, largely ignoring African children. This is despite the fact that the African consumer market has grown steadily over the years. This study contributes to the conceptualisation of childhood materialism in an African context.

Streszczenie:
The article is dedicated to the psychological and linguistic analysis of the implementation of the concept “Future of Russia”. The material is the data of a mass survey of 1780 students of secondary vocational schools. The features of the linguistic verbalization of the concept were identified out on the material of the reactions received to the open question “Russia of the future in 5 years …”. In the study, a modeling method was used, which consists in describing the structure of the concept in the form of cognitive features that differ in frequency and reflect the features of the perception of the concept. The content analysis of the verbal reactions of the respondent was also used; the answers were categorized according to semantic similarity. The study contains an account of the emotional component of the image of the future of Russia. The answers of the subjects to the question “When I think about the future, I feel ...” were analyzed. Correlation analysis, frequency analysis (categories) and contingency analysis (categories) were used to identify the features of the relationship between anxiety and characteristics of the image of the future. The analysis showed that the key representatives of the concept “Future of Russia” are the lexemes future, Russia and its synonyms: country, power, state, empire. The most common word is the word country – the answers mentioned it 180 times. Most of the received replies represent the future of Russia, but do not nominate it. The frequency analysis showed that most of the participants (75%) are optimistic about the future of the country; 48% of the answers about the possible future were abstract and generalized. A positive assessment of the future of the country is most often expressed in the choice of adjectives – definitions for the core representatives of the concept, as well as through the use of complex adjectives, forms of degrees of comparison and comparative constructions, adjectives with the prefix non, etc. Despite the fact that young people are optimistic about the future of the country, the categorical structure of the emotional image of the future showed that the construction of the future is associated with negative experiences of the events taking place in the country. The distribution of the respondents’ answers to an open question (1786 answers) “When I think about the future, I feel ...” is as follows: 41% of the answers are not informative; among the rest, 49.6% experience positive emotions (curiosity, interest, anticipation, joy, happiness, delight, calmness, excitement) and 50.4% negative ones (apathy, sadness, sadness, fear, melancholy, anxiety).
