A simple, rapid, and extractive spectrophotometric methods was developed for the determination of some postsynaptic ?-1 adrenoreceptor antagonist; doxazosin mesylate (DOX), terazosin (TRZ) and alfuzosine HCl (ALF) in pure forms and pharmaceutical formulations. The developed methods are based on the formation of yellow colored chloroform ion-pair complexes between the basic nitrogen of the drugs and dyes, namely; bromocresol green (BCG), bromothymol blue (BTB), methyl orange (MO) and alizarine red S (ARS), in acidic buffer of pH range (3.0-5.0). The formed complexes were extracted with chloroform or dichloromethane and measured at 418, 414, 425 and 426 nm for DOX and at 419, 415, 425 and 428 for TRZ and at 418, 412, 421 and 427 nm for ALF using BCG, BTB, MO and ARS, respectively. The analytical parameters and their effects on the reported systems are investigated. Beer?s law was obeyed in the range 1.0-130 ?g mL?1 with correlation coefficient (n = 6) ? 0.9991. The molar absorpitivity, Sandell sensitivity, detection and quantification limits were also calculated. The composition of the ion associates was found 1:1 by Job?s method. The proposed methods have been applied successfully for the analysis of the studied drugs in pure forms and in pharmaceutical formulations with percentage recoveries ranges from 99.18-100.61. The results of analysis were validated statistically. The results were in good agreement and compared with those obtained with reported methods.

To test the proposition that sheep are able to select a diet that meets their crude protein (N × 6.25; CP) requirements, feeds L, A, B, C and H with the same energy content (11 MJ metabolizable energy/kg feed) but different CP contents (78, 109, 141, 172 and 235 g CP/kg fresh feed respectively) were formulated. In addition, feed U, which was feed L plus 21.4 g urea/kg (CP content 132 g/kg), was also made. The feeds were offered ad lib. either singly (n 4 per treatment) or as a choice between feed H and another feed (pairs LH, AH, BH, CH and UH; n 9 per feed pair) to individually penned Suffolk × Scottish mule wether lambs, over the live-weight range 25–45 kg. On the single feeds the rates of live-weight gain were 273, 326, 412, 418, 396 and 407 g/day (SE of difference (SED) 34; P < 0.01) and protein (excluding wool) gain were 27, 32, 44, 45, 41 and 39 g/d (SED 4; P < 0.001) for feeds L, A, B, C, H and U respectively. When sheep were given a choice between a feed below (L or A) and a feed above their CP requirements (H; as judged by the single-feeding treatments) the CP concentration selected was not different between the two pairs: 131 (SE 4) v. 133 (SE 4) g CP/kg feed for pairs LH and AH respectively. On the choices BH and CH (a choice between two feeds above requirements) the feed lower in CP was constantly preferred (874 (SE 33) and 910 (SE 33) g feed B and C respectively per kg total feed intake; CP selected was 157 and 178 g CP/kg respectively). However, this was not the case with the UH choice on which sheep consumed only 599 (SE 61) g feed U/kg total feed intake, resulting in a selection of a higher CP in their diet (173 g CP/kg). The live-weight gains of the animals given a choice between two feeds were 416, 387, 415, 410 and 383 g/d (SED 37) and protein gains were 45, 40, 46, 50 and 43 (SE 7) for pairs LH, AH, BH, CH and UH respectively, which were comparable with the best performance achieved on a single feed. The results suggest that sheep were able to select a diet that meets their CP requirements and avoid, at least to a certain extent, excess of protein intake. It is also possible that sheep discriminate against a property of feed U, such as an excess of urea, when this feed is paired with a feed high in CP.

Abstract The effects of steam-flaked corn bulk density (SFC-BD) during grain adaptation phase on ruminal fermentation characteristics and feeding behavior were evaluated. Six crossbred ruminally-cannulated Angus beef steers (BW = 404 ± 42 kg; experimental units) were used in a randomized complete block design (block = BW). Steers were assigned to adaptation strategy grain-treatment: a) SFC-BD of 335g/L (335); or b) 412g/L (412). Steers were fed ad-libitum during six 7d phases consisting of: HAY; step-up (1, 2, 3, and 4); and a common 335 SFC-BD FINISHER diet. Respective SFC-BD treatments were fed throughout step-up diets. Ruminal pH was continuously measured (wireless pH probes), and ruminal fluid collected for further analyses. A continuous observation (24h) was used for feeding behavior. Data were analyzed using GLIMMIX procedures of SAS. SFC-BD did not affect (P ≥ 0.19) measured variables, except for increasing NDF (P &lt; 0.01) and tending to increase (P = 0.09) ADF digestibility for 412 steers during step-up 2 and 3. Steers fed 412 had greater (P ≤ 0.05) DMI during step-up 3 and 4 compared to FINISHER. Greater (P ≤ 0.01) digestible DMI during step-up 4 and FINISHER were observed compared to other phases. Digestible NDF/ADF intakes were greatest (P ≤ 0.05) during HAY-phase. Digestibility of DM was lowest (P ≤ 0.05) during HAY-phase. Steers ruminated more (P ≤ 0.05) during HAY-phase than FINISHER. Chewing was greatest (P ≤ 0.05) for HAY and intermediate for Step-up 1. Ruminal C2:C3 decreased (P &lt; 0.01) as steers advanced through phases. Ruminal ammonia-N was greatest (P &lt; 0.01) for step-up 1 and 2, and intermediate for other phases. The SFC-BD range studied seemed to not dramatically affect ruminal fermentation characteristics and feeding behavior. The most critical moment evidenced was between HAY and the receiving diet, as well as, when 412 g/L was suddenly switched to 335 g/L.

In this work, dewatered waste activated sludge (DWAS) was subjected to hydrothermal carbonization to obtain hydrochars that can be used as renewable solid fuels or activated carbon precursors. A central composite rotatable design was used to analyze the effect of temperature (140–220 °C) and reaction time (0.5–4 h) on the physicochemical properties of the products. The hydrochars exhibited increased heating values (up to 22.3 MJ/kg) and their air-activation provided carbons with a low BET area (100 m2/g). By contrast, chemical activation with K2CO3, KOH, FeCl3 and ZnCl2 gave carbons with a well-developed porous network (BET areas of 410–1030 m2/g) and substantial contents in mesopores (0.079–0.271 cm3/g) and micropores (0.136–0.398 cm3/g). The chemically activated carbons had a fairly good potential to adsorb emerging pollutants such as sulfamethoxazole, antipyrine and desipramine from the liquid phase. This was especially the case with KOH-activated hydrochars, which exhibited a maximum adsorption capacity of 412, 198 and 146 mg/g, respectively, for the previous pollutants.

This study evaluated the capacity of fluoride acidic dentifrices (pH 4.5) to promote enamel remineralization using a pH cycling model, comparing them with a standard dentifrice (1,100 µgF/g). Enamel blocks had their surface polished and surface hardness determined (SH). Next, they were submitted to subsurface enamel demineralization and to post-demineralization surface hardness analysis. The blocks were divided into 6 experimental groups (n=10): placebo (without F, pH 4.5, negative control), 275, 412, 550, 1,100 µgF/g and a standard dentifrice (positive control). The blocks were submitted to pH cycling for 6 days and treatment with dentifrice slurries twice a day. After pH cycling, surface and cross-sectional hardness were assessed to obtain the percentage of surface hardness recovery (%SHR) and the integrated loss of subsurface hardness (ΔKHN). The results showed that %SHR was similar among acidic dentifrices with 412, 550, 1,100 µgF/g and to the positive control (Tukey's test; p>0.05). For ΔKHN, the acidic dentifrice with 550 µg F/g showed a better performance when compared with the positive control. It can be concluded that acidic dentifrice 550 µgF/g had similar remineralization capacity to that of positive control.

Abelmoschus esculentus (Okra) is an important vegetable crop, widely cultivated around the world due to its high nutritional significance along with several health benefits. Different parts of okra including its mucilage have been currently studied for its role in various therapeutic applications. Therefore, we aimed to develop and characterize the okra mucilage biopolymer (OMB) for its physicochemical properties as well as to evaluate its in vitro antidiabetic activity. The characterization of OMB using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) revealed that okra mucilage containing polysaccharides lies in the bandwidth of 3279 and 1030 cm−1, which constitutes the fingerprint region of the spectrum. In addition, physicochemical parameters such as percentage yield, percentage solubility, and swelling index were found to be 2.66%, 96.9%, and 5, respectively. A mineral analysis of newly developed biopolymers showed a substantial amount of calcium (412 mg/100 g), potassium (418 mg/100 g), phosphorus (60 mg/100 g), iron (47 mg/100 g), zinc (16 mg/100 g), and sodium (9 mg/100 g). The significant antidiabetic potential of OMB was demonstrated using α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzyme inhibitory assay. Further investigations are required to explore the newly developed biopolymer for its toxicity, efficacy, and its possible utilization in food, nutraceutical, as well as pharmaceutical industries.

The Hevea breeding program of Instituto Agronômico de Campinas (IAC) has completed clonal evaluation on the following series: IAC 100, IAC 200 and IAC 300. The performance of 22 clones of Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex Adr. de Juss.) Muell.-Arg., evolved at IAC, over a period of eleven years was evaluated in the Western Central part of the São Paulo State, Brazil. Among these 22 new clones, six were intraspecific hybrid clones (IAC 400, IAC 404, IAC 405, IAC 406, IAC 410, IAC 412) and the remaining are primary those resulted from selected ortets within half-sib progenies. An old popular clone RRIM 600, of Malaysian origin, was used as the control. The trial was laid out in a randomized block design with three replications. Yield performance over a period of four years, mean girth at the 11th year, girth increment before tapping and on tapping, thermal property of natural rubber produced, bark thickness, number of latex vessel rows in seven year virgin bark, percentage incidence of tapping panel dryness, wind damage and diseases like leaf and panel anthracnose have been observed. Sixty one percent of the clones were superior in relation to the control for yield. The clone IAC 400 recorded the highest yield (97.40 g tree-1 tap-1) over four years of tapping, followed by IAC 411 (78.87 tree-1 tap-1), whereas the control clone RRIM 600 recorded 50.86 g tree-1 tap-1. All selected clones were vigorous in growth. Girth increment of these clones was average to above average. Except for IAC 423, other clones had thick virgin bark at opening ranging from 4.84 mm for IAC 401 to 6.38 mm for IAC 416. The natural rubbers from IAC clones have shown good thermal stability up to 300ºC and no differences in the thermal behavior among rubber from clones of the IAC series and the clone RRIM 600 were found in inert atmosphere.

The efficiency of nitrogen (N) utilisation in dairy cows fed grass silage diets is normally low and is related to an impaired utilisation of N in the rumen. Choice of carbohydrate type may affect this efficiency, influencing milk production and composition, and changing the output of N in faeces or urine. This experiment was undertaken to examine the effect of different iso-energetic supplements containing contrasting energy sources on N utilisation and milk production in early/mid lactation dairy cows fed early cut partially wilted grass silage.Six iso-energetic supplements were formulated as treatments; four to contain 160 g CP/kg DM and contrasting carbohydrate sources, viz.: neutral detergent fibre (NDF; wheatfeed, 350 g/kg, molassed and unmolassed sugar beet pulp 412 g/kg); low degradability starch (LDS; maize grain 500 g/kg, wheat 237 g/kg); high degradability starch (HDS; wheat and barley grain 812 g/kg); and soluble sugars (SS; molasses, 525 g/kg, citrus pulp, 125 g/kg).

East-Thuringian Magdala and Ma(g)del, but Maina and Moinwinida? Critical reflections on some geographical names and their history. ‒ The linguistic origin of the hydronym Magdel in connection with the toponyms Magdala and Madelungen is analyzed in this article, based on the historical forms from the 9th century. Various spellings from the Middle Ages will be discussed here. Special focus is also put on the question whether the name Maina can be connected with the only historical form Moinwinida. With the help of other geographical names in an important historical documentation there can be given a final answer as well as a proposal for identification of some up till now only once documented historical names in Thuringia. The resulting conclusions about those names with the element –winida are relevant for the complete Central German region around the year 1000.

El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar la forma en que se aplicará el artículo 41 G de la Ley sobre Impuesto a la Renta a los denominados trusts, e identificar los problemas que puedan surgir en la misma, recomendando modificaciones a la misma que pudieran mejorarla. Para la consecución del objetivo fijado, en primer lugar, se describirá la norma 41 G de la Ley sobre Impuesto a la Renta, su estructura y contenido, y la interpretación que ha dado el SII a la fecha a los preceptos en cuestión. Adicionalmente, se delinearán los objetivos y recomendaciones fijadas por la OCDE para la elaboración de las denominadas “CFC rules”, que se enfocan en enfrentar la erosión de las bases imponibles mediante el traslado de utilidades calificadas como “pasivas” a una jurisdicción de baja tributación. En segundo lugar, se definirán los trusts y sus características, se analizará la normativa legal y pronunciamientos administrativos que existen a su respecto en Chile. Y en tercer lugar, se identificarán los aspectos a debatir, principalmente referidos a la definición de control de las entidades analizadas y a posibles modificaciones a la norma actual que puedan mejorarla en relación a los trust; luego, se analizarán las reglas CFC en el derecho comparado, la aplicación de las mismas a los trusts y posibles conflictos que hayan surgido. Por último, se intentará dar una respuesta adecuada a las interrogantes planteadas, proponiendo que se considere a los beneficiarios como controladores si cumplen dos requisitos copulativos, esto es, que tengan un derecho formado sobre las utilidades que produzca el trust y que a su vez tengan facultades suficientes en la administración del mismo, en el sentido de poder movilizar las utilidades de una jurisdicción a otra

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde die Regulation der Aktivität der vesikulären Monoamintransporter VMAT1 und VMAT2 durch heterotrimere G-Proteine untersucht. In der humanen neuroendokrinen Zellinie BON werden VMAT1 und VMAT2 exprimiert. Sie colokalisieren in diesen Zellen mit der a-Untereinheit des heterotrimeren G-Proteins Go2 vorwiegend auf großen elektronendichten Vesikeln, den LDCVs. Die Aktivität beider Transporter unterliegt einer Regulation durch Gao2. Nach Aktivierung des G-Proteins kommt es zu einer Hemmung der vesikulären Monoaminaufnahme. Die Aktivität von VMAT2 wird dabei empfindlicher reguliert als die Aktivität von VMAT1. In Primärkulturen von Rapheneuronen der Ratte wird VMAT2 als neuronale Variante des Transporters exprimiert. VMAT2 lokalisiert in diesen Neuronen überwiegend auf kleinen synaptischen Vesikeln, den SSVs. Hier kommt es zu einer Colokalisation mit Gao2 auf diesem Vesikeltyp. Auch in Rapheneuronen wird die Aktivität von VMAT2 durch diese G-Protein Untereinheit gehemmt. Elektronenmikroskopische Befunde belegen die Lokalisation von VMAT2 und Gao2 auf SSVs von serotonergen Axonterminalen im präfrontalen Cortex der Ratte. An einer Präparation synaptischer Vesikel aus diesem Gehirnbereich konnte ebenfalls eine Hemmung der Transportaktivität von VMAT2 durch Gao2 nachgewiesen werden. Auch in Thrombozyten der Maus unterliegt die vesikuläre Serotoninaufnahme einer Hemmung durch ein heterotrimeres G-Protein. In chronisch entleerten Vesikeln aus Mäusen, in denen das Gen für die periphere Tryptophanhydroxylase deletionsmutiert vorlag, konnte zunächst keine Hemmung der Serotoninaufnahme durch heterotrimere G-Proteine beobachtet werden. Nach Vorbeladung der Vesikel mit Serotonin war dies jedoch der Fall. Die Aktivierung des G-Proteins wird somit sehr wahrscheinlich über den Füllungszustand der Vesikel gesteuert.
In this study we investigated the regulation of the activity of the vesicular monoamine transporters VMAT1 and VMAT2 by heterotrimeric G-proteins. In the human neuroendocrine cell line BON both transporters are expressed. They colocalize in these cells with the a-subunit of the heterotrimeric G-protein Go2 predominantely on Large Dense Core Vesicles (LDCVs). The activity of both VMAT1 and VMAT2 is regulated by Gao2. G-protein activation results in a down-regulation of vesicular monoamine uptake. VMAT2 appears to be more sensitive towards the observed G-protein regulation than VMAT1. Serotonergic raphe neurons in primary culture express VMAT2 as the neuronal form of the transporter. In these neurons VMAT2 predominantely localizes to Small Synaptic Vesicles (SSVs). Here, VMAT2 colocalizes with Gao2 on SSVs. In these neurons Gao2-dependent down-regulation of VMAT2 activity was observed, too. Immunoelectron microscopic analysis confirmed a localization of VMAT2 and Gao2 on SSVs from serotonergic terminals in the rat prefrontal cortex. In addition, Gao2-dependent regulation of VMAT2 activity could also be demonstrated when using a crude synaptic vesicle preparation of this brain area. Even in platelets obtained from mice the vesicular serotonin uptake is down-regulated by heterotrimeric G-proteins. In serotonin-depleted platelets from peripheral tryptophane-hydroxylase knockout mice no G-protein-dependent down-regulation of monoamine uptake was observed. After preincubation of the platelets with serotonin, the G-protein regulation was restored. Therefore, the vesicular transmitter content appears to be a likely factor of G-protein activation in platelets.

La construction d’animaux transgéniques est une technique clef qui a permis l’étude de nombreux aspects de la biologie du nématode Caenorhabditis elegans. Les animaux transgéniques peuvent être construits soit en injectant l’ADN exogène dans les gonades syncitiales de l’hermaphrodite adulte, soit en bombardant une population de vers avec des microbilles enrobées d’ADN. Dans les deux cas, l’utilisation de marqueurs génétiques est indispensable pour l’identification des individus transgéniques et la maintenance des lignées. Nous avons développé un vecteur d’expression pour les nématodes contenant le gène de résistance à la néomycine (neo), qui fonctionne comme marqueur génétique. Le gène neo confère la résistance au G-418, un antibiotique qui inhibe la synthèse de protéines chez les eucaryotes et qui est létal pour les nématodes sauvages. Nous avons montré que le marqueur neo est un marqueur génétique très puissant qui permet l’identification rapide des animaux transgéniques et qui permet l’enrichissement des populations transgéniques en présence de l’antibiotique, facilitant ainsi la maintenance des lignées. Ce système ne nécessite aucun contexte génétique particulier pour fonctionner et est donc compatible avec des lignées receveuses mutantes, ainsi que des lignées transgéniques ayant été transformées avec d’autres marqueurs génétiques. De plus, le gène neo est sous le contrôle du promoteur du gène de C. elegans rps-27, codant pour une protéine ribosomale dont la séquence est hautement conservée entre les nématodes. Nous avons utilisé ce gène comme marqueur génétique pour la transgénèse de l’espèce Caenorhabditis briggsae, ce qui suggère que le système neo pourrait aussi être utilisé pour d’autres espèces de la famille Caenorhabditis. Finalement, nous avons aussi montré que le système neo peut être utilisé dans le contexte des techniques d’ingénierie génétique basées sur le transposon Mos1. En conclusion, la sélection en présence de G-418 offre des nouvelles possibilités d’expériences pour la transgénèse de C. elegans et d’autres espèces proches. Les avantages du système neo devraient ainsi contribuer à développer des techniques de transgénèse du ver plus flexibles et efficaces
The generation of transgenic animals has been instrumental to study many biological aspects of Caenorhabditis elegans biology. Transgenic animals can be obtained by either microinjection of the exogenous DNA into the syncitial gonad of the hermaphrodite or by bombardment of a population of worms with DNA coated microparticles. Both techniques rely on the use of genetic markers to facilitate the recovery of transformed animals and the maintenance of transgenic lines. We developed a nematode expression vector carrying the neomycin resistance gene (neo) as a selection marker. This gene confers resistance to G-418, an antibiotic that normally inhibits protein synthesis in eukaryotes and is lethal for wild-type nematodes. We showed that the neo marker is a potent tool that allows a clear-cut selection of transgenic animals and hands-off maintenance of non-integrated populations on G-418 plates. This system does not imply any prerequisite on the original genotype of the recipient strain and can therefore be used on mutants lines as well as transgenic strains obtained with common markers. Moreover, we placed the neo gene under the control of the C. elegans rps-27 promoter, a highly conserved ribosomal protein throughout the nematode phylogeny. We were able to provide resistance to Caenorhabditis briggsae using this vector; this likely indicates that neo can be used in any species from the Caenorhabditis family. Finally, we demonstrated that this powerful selection system can be used in the context of Mos1 transposon excision-repair methods. Therefore, the neo system offers a wide range of new possibilities for transgenesis both in C. elegans and in other related species. We therefore believe that the benefits of the neo system should contribute to the development of more flexible and efficient techniques for nematode transgenesis

La Ley N° 20.780 titulada “reforma tributaria que modifica el sistema de tributación de la renta e introduce diversos ajustes en el sistema tributario”, publicada con fecha 29 de septiembre del año 2014 (en adelante, la “Ley”), introdujo importantes cambios al sistema de tributación imperante en Chile hasta el momento de su publicación. Tales cambios supusieron no solo una modificación de normas estructurales de la Ley sobre Impuesto a la Renta (“LIR”), sino que también la incorporación de nuevas disposiciones que trascendieron a la sola discusión sobre la integración de los impuestos empresariales (Impuesto de Primera Categoría) con los impuestos finales (Impuesto Global Complementario o Impuesto Adicional). Uno de los objetivos principales buscados por las normas incorporadas a la LIR, tal como lo señala el mensaje presidencial mediante el cual se dio origen a la tramitación legislativa de la Ley, es avanzar en medidas que disminuyan la elusión y evasión tributaria. En efecto, aunque la Ley contempla otros tres objetivos además del señalado, la disminución de la evasión y elusión tributaria resultaban (y resultan hoy también) particularmente relevantes si se considera que metodologías que permitieran una mayor recaudación -mediante una disminución de la evasión y elusión tributaria- servirían económicamente también para las diversas reformas no tributarias que el gobierno se había comprometido llevar a cabo. En ese contexto, quizás la modificación más importante a la LIR introducida por la Ley fue la incorporación de los nuevos regímenes generales de tributación que entraron en vigencia a partir del 1 de enero de 2017, y en los que es posible advertir la pretensión del legislador tributario en orden a obtener una mayor recaudación a través de sistemas que incluyen mecanismos destinados a evitar el diferimiento de los impuestos finales de la LIR.

Oxygen carriers are metal oxides which have the ability to oxidize and reduce easily by various cycles. Due to this property these materials are widely usedin Chemical-Looping Reforming processes to produce H2 and syngas. In this work supports based on MCM-41 and La-SiO2 were synthesized by hydrothermal method. After the synthesis step they were calcined at 550?C for 2 hours and characterized by TG, XRD, surface area using the BET method and FTIR spectroscopy. The deposition of active phase, in this case Nickel, took place in the proportions of 5, 10 and 20% by weight of metallic nickel, for use as oxygen carriers.The XRD showed that increasing in the content of Ni supported on MCM-41 resulted in a decrease in spatial structure and lattice parameter of the material. The adsorption and desorption curves of the MCM-41 samples exhibited variations with the increase of Ni deposited. Surface area, average pore diameter and wall density of silica showed significant changes , due to the increase of the active phase on the mesoporous material. By other hand, in the samples with La-SiO2 composition was not observed peaks characteristic of hexagonal structure, in the XRD diffractogram. The adsorption/desorption isotherms of nitrogen observed are type IV, characteristic of mesoporous materials. The catalytic test indicates that the supports have no influence in the process, but the nickel concentration is very important, because the results for minor concentration of nickel are not good. The ratio H2/O2 was close to 2, for all 15 cycles involving the test storage capacity of O2, indicating that the materials are effective for oxygen transport
Transportadores de oxig?nio s?o ?xidos met?licos que possuem a capacidade de oxidar e reduzir facilmente por diversos ciclos. Devido a essa propriedade estes materiais s?o bastante utilizados nos processos de Chemical-Looping Reforming para a produ??o de H2 ou g?s de s?ntese (H2 mais CO). Neste trabalho foram sintetizados os suportes MCM-41 e La-SiO2 pelo o m?todo hidrot?rmico. Os materiais resultantes foram calcinados a 550 ?C por 2 horas e, posteriormente, caracterizados por TG, DRX, ?rea superficial pelo m?todo BET e FTIR. Ap?s a caracteriza??o dos suportes foi feita a deposi??o da fase ativa (Ni) com as propor??es de 5, 10 e 20% em massa de n?quel met?lico, para aplica??o como transportadores de oxig?nio. The production of synthesis gas has received renewed attention due to demand for renewable energies to reduce the emissions of gases responsible for enhanced greenhouse effect. This work was carried out in order to synthesize, characterize and evaluate the implementation of nickel catalysts on MCM-41 in dry reforming reactions of methane. The mesoporous molecular sieves were synthesized using as silica sources the tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and residual glass powder (PV). The sieves were impregnated with 10% nickel to obtain the metallic catalysts (Ni/MCM-41). These materials were calcined and characterized by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG), Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Temperature-Programmed Reduction (TPR) and N2 Adsorption/Desorption isotherms (BET/BJH). The catalytic properties of the samples were evaluated in methane dry reforming with CO2 in order to produce synthesis gas to be used in the petrochemical industry. The materials characterized showed hexagonal structure characteristic of mesoporous material MCM-41 type, being maintained after impregnation with nickel. The samples presented variations in the specific surface area, average volume and diameter of pores based on the type of interaction between the nickel and the mesoporous support. The result of the the catalytic tests showed conversions about 91% CO2, 86% CH4, yelds about 85% CO and 81% H2 to Ni/MCM-41_TEOS_C, and conversions about 87% CO2, 82% CH4, yelds about 70% CO and 59% H2 to Ni/MCM-41_PV_C. The similar performance confirms that the TEOS can be replaced by a less noble materials

Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de sintetizar, caracterizar e avaliar a aplica??o dos catalisadores de n?quel sobre MCM-41, em rea?oes de reforma a seco de metano. As peneiras moleculares mesoporosas foram sintetizadas utilizando como fontes de s?lica o Tetraetil Ortosilicato (TEOS) e o res?duo de p? de vidro (PV). As peneiras foram impregnadas com 10% de n?quel para forma??o dos catalisadores met?licos (Ni/MCM-41). German composer Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) is viewed as one of the composers that have made the most contributions during the Baroque period. The types of musical compositions created by him are various and in great numbers. This musical composition Die Kleine Kammermusic, TWV 41 was created in 1716 and was dedicated to Telemann’s four friends. They were all oboists in the same palace, named François LeRiche (1662-1733), Johann Christian Richter (1689-1744), Johann Michael Böhm (1685-1755), Peter Glösch (1685-1754). Die Kleine Kammermusic, TWV 41 contains six suites, each of them including one prelude and six arias. These seven short compositions are also composed with many different style of dance music. Telemann’s specialized compositional skill of using mixed-style can be found easily in this set of chamber music. Thus, the arduous efforts made by Telemann can be perceived through the arrangement of the speed, the style, the creativity and the arrangement of the melodies. This dissertation can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter mainly focuses on the background introduction of the life of the composer. The second chapter is concerned with the background of the creation of Partita No. 2 in G major, TWV 41:G2 and the features of the style. The third chapter is about the analysis of the melody of this composition. The fourth chapter will focus on the analysis and interpretation of different versions and styles of the performance.

Abstract M3 derived mutants from two bread wheat varieties, namely, 'Giza 186' and 'Saha 93', were screened for resistance to the rust Ug99 at two locations in Njoro (Kenya) and in Tihama (Yemen). At Tihama, two mutants of 'Giza 186' (G-M2-2010-1-28 and G-M2-2010-41-52) and four mutants of 'Saha 93' (S-M2-2010-16-12, S-M2-2010-21-13, S-M2-2010-22-14 and S-M2-2010-27-15) were seen to be resistant at both seedling and adult stages while their parents were resistant at seedling stage and susceptible at adult stage. In Kenya, the resistance score of the mutants was slightly different from those obtained at Tihama. The mutants G-M2-2010-1-28 and G-M2-2010-41-52 were stable in their level of resistance recorded at Tihama, but only two mutants of 'Saha 93' (S-M2-2010-16-12 and S-M2-2010-27-15) were resistant at both growth stages. S-M2-2010-22-14 and S-M2-2010-21-13 were resistant at the seedling stage while susceptible at adult stage. Further selection on these mutants for yield potential, agronomic performance and yellow rust disease resistance, as well as on selected mutants of both 'Giza 186' and 'Saha 93', at M5-M6 stages identified superior mutant lines compared with the two parents 'Saha 93' and 'Giza 186'. Moreover, it can be concluded that Erra-010-GM2w-41-52-40 and Erra-010-SwM2-16-12-19 are highly recommended for their resistance to stem and yellow rust diseases as well as for yield potential and preference by farmers. Therefore, efforts are in progress to increase their seeds for dissemination over a wide range of farmers and wheat areas where rust diseases are an epidemic, and for registration of the lines as improved mutant varieties.

AbstractNext-generation observational surveys in astronomy provide empirical data with increasingly high resolution and precision. After presenting the basic methods of population synthesis (via Conroy C, Ann Rev Astronom Astrophys 51:393–455, 2013; Maraston C, Mon Not Royal Astronom Soc 362:799–825, 2005), this paper argues for several related conclusions. The increased precision of the new methods requires the development of improved theoretical resources and models to provide the richest interpretation of the new data (as argued by Maraston C, Strömbäck G, Monthly Not Royal Astronom Soc 418:2785–2811, 2011). The measurement of physical variables and parameters in population synthesis is best understood using a model-based account along the lines of (Tal E, The epistemology of measurement: a model-based approach. Dissertation, The University of Toronto, 2012) and (Parker WS, Br J Philos Sci 68:273–304, 2017). Finally, in the case of population synthesis, improved empirical data does not dispense with the need for theoretical reasoning in post-data analysis. In fact, the high-resolution data used in next-generation population synthesis demands ever richer theories and models, a process that results in hybrid enrichment of theoretical and observational methods and results.

AbstractEvidence on the effects of robotic technology is required to develop rehabilitation services. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of robot-assisted walking training on walking and functional independence in everyday life in persons with spinal cord injury (SCI) and explore the covariates associated with these effects.We searched the MEDLINE (Ovid), CINAHL, PsycINFO, and ERIC databases until March 25, 2022. Two reviewers independently assessed the studies for inclusion. We included RCTs on people with SCI receiving robotic training. The Cochrane RoB2, meta-analysis, meta-regression, and Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation were performed.We included 23 RCTs focusing on SCI with outcomes of walking or functional independence, of which 14 were included in the meta-analysis and meta-regression analyses. Small improvements were observed in functional independence in favor of robot-assisted walking training compared to other physical exercises (Hedges’ g 0.31, 95% CI 0.02 to 0.59; I2 = 19.7%, 9 studies, 419 participants, low certainty evidence). There were no significant differences in walking ability, speed, endurance, or independence between the groups.Robot-assisted walking training may slightly improve functional independence, but its effects on walking ability in SCI patients is uncertain compared to other exercise. Evidence suggests little to no difference in walking independence, and the effects on walking speed and endurance are unclear. No clear evidence exists whether positive effects are linked to personal, clinical, or intervention characteristics. Robot-assisted gait training may be a viable option for improving functional independence in individuals with SCI.

A method is presented to optimize the shape and size of a passive prosthetic foot using the Lower Leg Trajectory Error (LLTE) as the design objective. The LLTE is defined as the root-mean-square error between the lower leg trajectory calculated for a given prosthetic foot by finding the deformed shape of the foot under typical ground reaction forces and a target physiological lower leg trajectory obtained from published gait data for able-bodied walking. In previous work, the design of simple two degree-of-freedom analytical models consisting of rigid structures, rotational joints with constant stiffness, and uniform cantilevered beams, have been optimized for LLTE. However, prototypes built to replicate these simple models were large, heavy, and overly complex. In this work, the size and shape of a single-part compliant prosthetic foot keel made out of nylon 6/6 was optimized for LLTE to produce a light weight, low cost, and easily manufacturable prosthetic foot design. The shape of the keel was parameterized as a wide Bézier curve, with constraints ensuring that only physically meaningful shapes were considered. The LLTE value for each design was evaluated using a custom MATLAB script, which ran ADINA finite element analysis software to find the deformed shape of the prosthetic keel under multiple loading scenarios. The optimization was performed by MATLAB’s built-in genetic algorithm. After the optimal design for the keel was found, a heel was added to structure, sized such that when the user’s full weight acted on the heel, the structure had a factor of safety of two. The resulting optimal design has a lower LLTE value than the two degree-of-freedom analytical models, at 0.154 compared to 0.172, 0.187, and 0.269 for the two degree-of-freedom models. At 412 g, the optimal wide curve foot is nearly half the mass of the lightest prototype built from the previous models, which was 980 g. The design found through this compliant mechanism optimization method is thus far superior to the two degree-of-freedom models previously considered.

The coupling of liquid-phase separation techniques and mass spectrometry (MS) is the prevailing analytical strategy in lipidomic analysis [1]. Two basic chromatographic approaches are available, lipid class separation and lipid species separation. The lipid class separation is represented by hydrophilic liquid chromatography (HILIC) and ultrahigh-performance supercritical fluid chromatography (UHPSFC) and offers advantages for high-throughput quantitation due to the coelution of lipid class internal standards and analytes from the same class [2]. Multiple lipid classes from phospholipid, sphingolipid, glycerolipid, fatty acyl, and sterol categories can be quantified in biological samples, but the main issue in lipidomic quantitation is the long-term stability of measured data [3]. The development of the LipidQuant 1.0 tool for automated processing of lipidomic data [4] was essential for high-throughput analysis of large clinical cohorts. The comprehensive MS determination of a wide range of blood lipids reveals statistically significant differences between various types of cancer patients and healthy controls visualized by multivariate data analysis, such as nonsupervised principal component analysis (PCA) and supervised orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA). The most extensive results are obtained for pancreatic cancer [5] but similar patterns of dysregulation were observed for kidney, breast, and prostate cancers as well [6]. The most dysregulated lipids are very long chain monounsaturated sphingomyelins, ceramides, LPC 18:2, and some other phospholipids. AbstractObservational records provide a strong basis for constraining sea ice models within a narrow range of climate conditions. Given current trends away from these conditions, models need to be tested over a wider range of climate states. The past provides many such examples based on paleoclimate data, including abrupt tipping points. However, the millennial-duration of typical paleoclimatesimulations necessitates balancing the inclusion and sophistication of model processes against computational cost. We investigate the impact on climate mean states and variability of introducing sea ice dynamics into the simplified general circulation model PlaSim-LSG [1-3].Considering the technical constraints of PlaSim-LSG, we choose to integrate a modied version of the MITgcm's dynamical sea ice component [4, 5] into the model setup. We adapt the component to the structure and parallelization scheme of PlaSim-LSG, validate the physical consistency and stability of the component, and evaluate the impact of sea ice dynamics onto the simulated climate from decadal to millennial time scales. Specifically, we compare climatologies, variability and scaling of the extended model to control simulations of the preexisting setups, and quantify how additional sea ice dynamics affect well-known climatic biases of the PlaSim model family.With our extended PlaSim-LSG model we aim at capturing the key small-scale sea ice processes that are important to past climate tipping points while maintaining model efficiency for millennial simulations. Sea ice is a key component of coupled atmosphere-ocean processes that led to large-amplitude, abrupt climate variability in the past [6-8]. The Sunphotometer Earth Atmosphere Measurement (SPEAM-I) experiment was flown on the United States Space Shuttle Challenger in October, 1984 as part of a group of Canadian experiments referred to as CANEX-I. Measurements of the solar intensity were made through the orbiter side-hatch window at various wavelengths in the visible and near-ultraviolet during a number of terminator crossings using a hand-held, interference filter photometer. Observations at 315 and 324 nm have been analyzed to give vertical profiles of ozone at 63.34°S, 91.96°E. These profiles are compared to data from the literature. The success of this experiment points the way to the use of small instruments to make accurate but inexpensive observations of the composition of the upper atmosphere.

Over three years of research, the number of weeds per 1 m2 in the direct seeding (DS) variant was 19 pcs. more. At the initial stage of the oil flax development, which was cultivated under conventional technology, the number of unwanted plants in the variant without inoculation was, on average, 32 pcs./m2; with complex microbial preparation (CMP) treatment – 31.5 pcs./m2. In the context of DS technology, there were 51 pcs./m2 in the variant with inoculation; 50 pcs./m2 – without CMP treatment. The increase in the weed component under DS is due to better moisture and nutrients availability. In the experimental plots with and without inoculation, the difference in the variants cannot be proved from the mathematical point of view. Before harvesting, as a result of the herbicidal treatment, the difference between the technologies levelled. The total number of weeds per 1 m2 under conventional technology with the application of CMP was 24 pcs./m2, its average weight – 34.6 g/m2; in the variant without CMP application – 22.4 pcs./m2 and 34 g/m2, respectively. Under DS, with CMP – 21.3 pcs./m2 and 41.2 g/m2; without CMP treatment – 21 pcs./m2 and 41 g/m2. Furthermore, the species composition of weeds did not differ depending on the cultivation technology. Their number, yet, was greater under DS in the stage of full emergence. In the full ripeness stage, the amount of the weed component decreased. At the time of harvesting, it caused no significant effect on the yield neither under DS nor conventional technology regardless of the CMP treatment. However, the weight of dry weeds was higher under DS, on average, by 7 g/m2 per three years.

The sea is still as one of humans' most essential natural resources due to its many benefits; such as food, energy, transport...etc. Seafarers in the government and private sectors, play a critical role on this side. They face different conditions around or inside themselves. Consequently, the present study focused on several related psychological and environmental parameters. Forty-six men were questioned, including 26 men from government sector, and 20 from private sector. Current results showed that age (51-60) for G group and (41-50) for P group; had the largest number of participants. Different Occupation titles appeared local captin (Nukhutha) and sailors The P group consists largely of local captains (Nukhutha) and sailors, while the G group had many of engineers and officers. Sunburned, skin diseases such as acne, rashes and fungi showed the P group had the higher percentage 95.00% than the G group 65.38% for skin sun burned, and 85.00% and 50.00% for the skin diseases respectively. Headaches or dizziness was common in both groups. In contrast, vomiting reached 84.62% in G group, and lower than that in P group 55.00% despite its existence in both groups in high rate. When exposed to an accident or injury, our results found that the G group had a higher rate of 65.38% compared with P at 40.00%. Similarly, drowning 42.31% and 30.00% for the two groups respectively. Psychological feelings such as hallucinations and fantasies were showed to be high in both groups; P 90.00%, G 65.38% as well as feeling lonely and missing family which was 100% in both. No pirates appeared in Arabian Gulf, but chased by boats of a neighboring country, such as Iranian and Kuwaiti coastguards attack occurred in higher rates for P group 95.00%, rather than G group 15.38%. Using treated wastewater (TWW) for crop irrigation represents an important opportunity for ensuring adequate food production in light of growing freshwater scarcity worldwide. However, the environmentally sustainable approach of using TWW for irrigation can lead to contamination of produce with fecal pathogens that may remain in treated water. The overall goal of this research was to evaluate the correlation between the presence of fecal indicator bacteria (FIB) and that of a suite of human pathogens in TWW, the irrigated soil, and crops. Field experiments were conducted to compare secondary and tertiary TWW with dechlorinated tap water for irrigation of tomatoes, a typical commercial crop, in Israel, a semi-arid country. Human pathogens including bacteria (Salmonella), protozoa (Cryptosporidiumand Giardia), and viruses (Adenovirus [AV Types A, B, C & 40/41] and Enterovirus [EV71 subtypes]) were monitored in two field trials using a combination of microscopic, cultivation-based, and molecular (qPCR) techniques. Results from the field trials indicate that microbial contamination on the surface of tomatoes did not appear to be associated with the source of irrigated waters; FIB contamination was not statistically different on tomatoes irrigated with TWW as compared to tomatoes irrigated with potable water. In fact, Indicator bacteria testing did not predict the presence of pathogens in any of the matrices tested. High concentrations of FIB were detected in water and on tomato surfaces from all irrigation treatment schemes, while pathogen contamination on tomato surfaces (Cryptosporidiumand Salmonella) was only detected on crops irrigated with TWW. These results suggest that regular monitoring for pathogens should take place to accurately detect presence of harmful microorganisms that could threaten consumer safety. A notable result from our study is that the large numbers of FIB in the water did not appear to lead to FIB accumulation in the soil. With the exception of two samples, E. coli that was present at 10³ to 10⁴ cells/100 mL in the water, was not detected in the soil. Other bacterial targets associated with the enteric environment (e. g., Proteusspp.) as well as protozoal pathogens were detected in the TWW, but not in the soil. These findings suggest that significant microbial transfer to the soil from TWW did not occur in this study. The pattern of FIB contamination on the surfaces of tomatoes was the same for all treatment types, and showed a temporal effect with more contamination detected as the duration of the field trial increased. An important observation revealed that water quality dramatically deteriorated between the time of its release from the wastewater treatment plant and the time it was utilized for irrigation, highlighting the importance of performing water quality testing throughout the growing season at the cultivation site.
