Pełny tekst źródłaThis study anchors in the field of pronunciation didactics in French as a Foreign Langage by observing the phonetic-phonological confusions made by Saudi learners. The descriptive approach of the interphonological variation through the constitution of an oral corpus is in accordance with the IPFC project (Detey & Kawaguchi, 2008 ; Racine et al., 2012). The IPFC-Arab project provides studies for different dialect groups (Abou Haidar, 2016), but there are few studies for Saudi Arabic (Al-Shihri, 2002). The protocol for collecting the data is based on the word-list of the IPFC-Arab project. It comprehends 2 tasks (repeating and reading) submitted to 9 subjects with level B1. A French native-speaking reference group is subject to the same protocol. The results enable to compare the speakers groups per tasks to observe the variation zones and the distribution of errors. The results express a tendancy to move along the axis of closeness position

Pełny tekst źródłaThe variation that can be observed in french spoken and written in africa manifests itself in different ways, and is related to various types of linguistic reality which are to be found in other french-speaking countries. This variation can only be effectively studied in a relatively homogeneous linguistic environment, in which the language is subjected to the same influences, and varies within the same basic framework. Zaire (r. D. Congo) one of the biggest french-speaking countries offers, thanks to the variety of languages spoken on its territory and the diversity of its culture, as well as its political upheavals, many teresting cases of linguistic variation, which are especially apparent in the dynamism and the richness of its lexical creation. The creation of new words concerns two main categories of lexemes: loan-words borrowed from local languages, and french terms which have undergone modifications, at the level of expression as well as at the level of content. These terms, which we have called "lexical idioms", are analysed here within a framework which breaks down the word into its various constitutive units are organised into inter-related networks called "strata". On the level of expression, variation can be found in the phonematic and graphematic strata, which are concerned with modifications of units on a phonic and graphic level. As far as content is concerned, variation can be found in the morphematic and lexematic strata. Here, the changes observed affect both lexical and grammatical morphemes. In the lexematic stratum, variation affects the word in its totality, in its "dictionary form". Finally, a large part of this study is devoted to the semantic variation of these idioms. This variation is also present in different forms: already present in the form of morphematic and lexematic variation, it shows itself more clearly through the play of movement throughout the semic structure of the word

Pełny tekst źródłaThe study of the specific characteristics of the developmental processes of cognitive strategies that Tunisian pupils aged between 7 and 12 years have used in order to understand written texts in the mother language and in the second, has found out that the understanding process in Arabic is governed by concepts, whereas it is rather governed by textual information in French. The age and the period's length of exposure to language may explain the variation in understanding strategies level. These two factors are not mutually exclusive. In fact, when pupils are of the same age, they would most often use high-level comprehension strategies while trying to understand texts written in Arabic. This is because of the longer period of exposure to that language. However, when the period's length of exposure is the same to both languages, the higher performance of the older pupils starts dwindling down starting from a period of 3 years, it gets the other way round in favor of the younger pupils starting from a period of 4 years. The Conceptual Level of Exposure to Language, to which first language pupils take advantage, explains this reversal. It mediates the activity of reading comprehension

Pełny tekst źródłaThis computer-based analysis of a corpus made up of French dialectal texts (1911-1997) identifies systematic approaches to spelling in which variation has a specific function. The spelling systems of the authors studied here, whose aim is to design systems that are contrastive (through orthographical, phonological and lexical contrastivity), function through an interaction with the usual spelling norms of standard French. Beyond their differences, these texts all share common features : their two main modes of operation are orthographical dialectalisation in which the operations both of differentiation and of assimilation confer upon the written form its particular dialectal identity; and the dosing of patois forms, in which careful control of variation allows the author to ensure that his text can be read and easily understood. The dynamics of these written systems is based both on oral registers (noting the spoken language) and on written registers (the conventions of written language), which should be taken together with social representations

Pełny tekst źródłaThe aim of this work is to follow the late phonological acquisition of the young Francophone. In order better to understand phonological development, our work focuses on the acquisition of liaison and liquids via a longitudinal study (two children from very different social backgrounds, recorded at 40 and 50 months) and, by way of a longitudinal comparison, 24 children aged 8, also from different social backgrounds. A great deal of attention has be paid to the variation found in the different corpora. The observation of variable forms suggests that acquisition is a complex process, grounded in various types of constraint: articulatory, social and cognitive. Because of this, we were able to observe, on the one hand, that there was more variation for the production of phonemes which are more complex in articulatory terms. On the other hand, children benefiting from a more favourable linguistic environment were seen to reach a more adequate level of competence with respect to the ‘Standard French' norm. From a cognitive point of view, it would seem that only memory is, at the beginning, at the centre of lexical acquisition. We also subscribe to the hypothesis according to which the child is sensitive to the statistical regularities of the ambient language. In addition to the precise description of phonetic variation in the speech of the young French child and the different factors which condition it, this study has also allowed us to confirm the importance of a significant practical factor for researchers in the field of language acquisition: to focus one's research on the various facets of the speaker's development, favourising an interdisciplinary approach
