Streszczenie:
The robustness of the control algorithm plays a crucial role in the precision manufacturing and measurement of the CNC machine tool. This paper proposes a fuzzy PID controller based on a sparse fuzzy rule base (S-FPID), which can effectively control the position of a nonlinear CNC machine tool servo system consisting of a rotating motor and ball screw. In order to deal with the influences of both the internal and external uncertainties in the servo system, fuzzy logic is used to adjust the proportion, and integral and differential parameters in real-time to improve the robustness of the system. In the fuzzy inference engine of FPID, a sparse fuzzy rule base is used instead of a full-order fuzzy rule base, which significantly improves the computational efficiency of FPID and saves a lot of RAM storage space. The sensitivity analysis of S-FPID verifies the self-tuning ability of its parameters. Furthermore, the proposed S-FPID has been compared with the PID and FPID via simulation and experiment. The results show that compared with the classical PID controller, the overshoot of the S-FPID controller is reduced by 74.29%, and the anti-interference ability is increased by 62.43%; compared with FPID algorithm, the efficiency of the SPID is improved by 87.25% on the premise of a slight loss in robustness.

This study presents the design and real-time applications of an Interval Type-2 Fuzzy PID (IT2-FPID) control system on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a flexible cable-connected payload in comparison to the PID and Type-1 Fuzzy PID (T1-FPID) counterparts. The IT2-FPID control has significant stability, disturbance rejection, and response time advantages. To prove and show these advantages, the DJI Tello, a commercial UAV, is used with a flexible cable-connected payload to test the robustness of PID, T1-FPID, and IT2-FPID controllers. First, the optimal coefficients of the compared controllers are found using the Big Bang–Big Crunch algorithm via the nonlinear UAV model without the payload. Second, once optimised, the controllers are tested using several scenarios, including disturbing the payload and the coverage path planning area to examine their robustness. Third, the controller performance results are evaluated according to reference achievement and point-based tracking under disturbances. Finally, the superiority of the IT2-FPID controller is shown via simulations and real-time experiments with a better overshoot, a faster settling time, and good properties of disturbance rejection compared with the PID and the T1-FPID controllers.

Performa respon yang dibandingkan seperti rise time, settling time, overshoot, steady state error, dan undershoot.

The energy dissipation mechanisms of conventional impact damper (CID) are mainly momentum exchange and friction. During the impact process, a lot of vibration energy cannot be exhausted but reverberated among the vibration partners. Besides, the CID may produce the additional vibration to the system or even amplify the response in the low-frequency vibration. To overcome these shortcomings, this paper proposes a new fine particle impact damper (FPID) which for the first time introduces the fine particle plastic deformation as an irreversible energy sink. Then, the experiments of the cantilevered beam with the CID and that with the FPID are, respectively, carried out to investigate the behavior of FPID. The experimental results indicate that the FPID has a better performance in vibration damping than in the CID and the FPID works well in control of the vibration with frequency lower than 50 Hz, which is absent to the non-obstructive particle damper. Thus, the FPID has a bright and significant application future because most of the mechanical vibration falls in the range of low freqency.

Roasting coffee is an essential step in the production of coffee because it affects the flavour, aroma, and overall quality of the final product. Temperature control during the roasting process is essential to achieve a consistent and desired taste. This study seeks to assess the performance of a Fuzzy PID (FPID) controller during coffee roasting when the temperature setpoint varies. The temperature range in this study is from 34-200℃. The study employs an SR500 coffee roaster as the process plant, a FOPDT model structure, a PID-AMIGO benchmark controller, FPID-3 and FPID-5 controllers as the proposed controller. The study includes both simulation and real-time testing for the FPID-5 controller. The results for the FPID-5 controller indicated that the overshoot was reduced to 0.24% and 4.04% in simulation and 2.9% and 8.6% in real-time testing, representing an improvement of more than 90% in overshoot reduction compared to the PID controller. Thus, the proposed FPID-5 controller has been proven to effectively suppress overshoot during temperature setpoint changes in the coffee roasting process. Purpose In this paper, a novel Lyapunov–Krasovskii stable fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) (FPID) controller is introduced for load frequency control of a time-delayed micro-grid (MG) system that benefits from a fuel cell unit, wind turbine generator and plug-in electric vehicles. Design/methodology/approach Using the Lyapunov–Krasovskii theorem, the adaptation laws for the consequent parameters and output scaling factors of the FPID controller are developed in such a way that an upper limit (the maximum permissible value) for time delay is introduced for the stability of the closed-loop MG system. In this way, there is a stable FPID controller, the adaptive parameters of which are bounded. In the obtained adaptation laws and the way of stability analyses, there is no need to approximate the nonlinear model of the controlled system, which makes the implementation process of the proposed adaptive FPID controller much simpler. Findings It has been shown that for a different amount of time delay and intermittent resources/loads, the proposed adaptive FPID controller is able to enforce the frequency deviations to zero with better performance and a less amount of energy. In the proposed FPID controller, the increase in the amount of time delay leads to a small increase in the amount of overshoot/undershoot and settling time values, which indicate that the proposed controller is robust to the time delay changes. Originality/value Although the designed FPID controllers in the literature are very efficient in being applied to the uncertain and nonlinear systems, they suffer from stability problems. In this paper, the stability of the FPID controller has been examined in applying to the frequency control of a nonlinear input-delayed MG system. Based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii theorem and using rigorous mathematical analyses, the stability conditions and the adaptation laws for the parameters of the FPID controller have been obtained in the presence of input delay and nonlinearities of the MG system.

This paper presents the use of a feedforward-plus-proportional-integral-derivative (FPID) controller for improving the control performance of the electrohydraulic steering system on an offroad vehicle. The FPID controller used an inverse valve transform in the feedforward loop to compensate for an electrohydraulic steering system deadband and used a conventional PID feedback loop to minimize the tracking error in steering control. On-simulator evaluation tests verified that the FPID resulted in a superior steering rate tracking performance over both a feedforward controller and a PID controller. On-vehicle evaluation tests verified that this FPID controller could achieve prompt and accurate steering angle tracking for agricultural vehicle automated guidance applications.

Induction motor (IM) drives have tremendous applications as high-performance drives in things such as mine winders, machine tools, electric vehicles, and elevators. Usually, IM drives controlled by direct torque control are preferred for these applications due to their fast torque control and simplicity compared with IM drives with field-oriented control. Proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controllers are commonly used to control IM drives using DTC. Though these controllers are simple and provide excellent response for linear systems with constant set points, they perform poorly with variable set points and IM motor parameter uncertainties. Hence, many control techniques and optimization algorithms have been applied to improve IM drive performance. This paper proposes an IM drive controlled using direct torque control principles, but with the power converter operation optimized to give fast torque performance. The IM drive speed response is improved using an optimized fuzzy PID (FPID). The FPID optimization is accomplished by the ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm. All components of the IM drive with the optimized control system were simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink platform. The responses of the introduced drive using three different controllers—conventional PID, FPID, and optimized FPID—were compared. The simulation results indicate that the optimized FPID controller provided the best performance in terms of speed and torque. Additionally, the performance of the IM with the proposed optimized FPID under parameter uncertainties was studied. The simulation results indicated the robustness of the optimized FPID controller against parameter uncertainties.

Several controllers may employed, keeping the pendulum arm upright by controlling at the cart location. In this search paper, the fuzzy-like PID (FPID) controller has been used to control the inverted pendulum, and the parameters of the controller are tuned with several evolutionary optimization algorithms like a genetic algorithm (GA), ant colony optimization (ACO), and social spider optimization (SSO.) The result of tuned FPID with evolutionary optimization is compared with conventional PID, and it shows that FPID with SSO has been given the best result.

The paper considers the problem of achieving high quality control of the system with an object having a high-inertia component. Modeling a stabilization system with a classical proportional-integral-differential controller (PID controller) showed that when using such a controller, it is not possible to achieve the desired control quality due to the long time needed to establish a transition process with the required overshoot. We suggested a hypothesis that using a fractional order PID controller (FPID controller) it is possible to solve this problem. We carried out mathematical modeling of the system with the FPID controller and revealed that the FPID controller can significantly reduce the time needed to establish the transition process of the system under consideration. The study describes elements with fractal impedance based on a resistive-capacitive medium, and gives a description of their model. The adequacy of the mathematical model is confirmed by means of the sheet-oriented model in the LTSpice program using the selected model. Conclusions are made about the feasibility and necessity of conducting research in the field of design and manufacture of a FPID controller and elements with fractal impedance

Abstract This paper presents control and analysis of a split-phase induction motor (SPIM) to drive a centrifugal pumping system. An optimized proportional- integral and derivative (PID) controller, that is capable with a vector closed-loop split-phase induction motor control, is presented and its simulation results are discussed. The fine-tuning procedure is employed for fuzzy PID (FPID) controller parameters in order to sustain the motor speed at the predefined reference values. To assess the performance of the competitive controllers, conventional PID (CPID) and FPID, four operational indices for are suggested for measure the capability of the two controllers. These indices involve individual steady state error (ISSE) for each operating period, total steady state error (TSSE) for overall loading cycle, Individual oscillation index (IOI) and Total oscillation index (TOI), in order to measure the capability of the FPID compared with CPID. The performance of the SPIM accomplished with these performance indices is checked and tested on high and low speed levels. Pulse width modulation (PWM) based simulation studies were employed for SPIM using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. The results show that the overall performance of the SPIM operated with vector control that is tuned by FPID is enhanced compared with CPID.

In this study, a general type-2 fractional order fuzzy PID (GT2FO-FPID) controller is proposed to fulfil the balance adjustment of the Power-line Inspection (PLI) robot system. It is a combination of Mamdani general type-2 fuzzy logic controller (GT2-FLC) and fractional PID controller. Since the PLI robot system is an under-actuated system, it’s necessary to get complete information of the system. However, when all state variables are treated as input to the controller, there is a problem with the rule explosion. Because of this, the information fusion method is adopt to solve the problem and simplify the controller design. At the same time, fractional-order integral-differential operators and input-output scaling factors, which are taken as design variables and optimized by genetic algorithm (GA). To assess the performance of proposed controller based on symmetry criterion, we compared it against existing controllers, i.e., interval type-2 fractional order fuzzy PID (IT2FO-FPID), type-1 fractional order fuzzy PID (T1FO-FPID), and conventional fractional order (FOPID) controllers. Furthermore, to show the anti-inference ability of the proposed controller, three common perturbed process are tested. Finally, simulation results show that the GT2FO-FPID controller outperforms other controllers in the presence of external perturbations on the PLI robot system.

A very important concept with regard to power system control is automatic voltage regulator (AVR). The task of (AVR) is to hold the terminal voltage magnitude of a synchronous generator at a specified level. The mathematical model of AVR is nonlinear and very complex in order, so for simplicity, it needs to reduce the order. Fractional proportional-Integral–Derivative controller (FOPID) is proposed and executed on AVR utilizing frequency design approach. The FPID controller showed strong execution in transient exhibitions, robust performance in transient performances, less settling time, maximum overshot and steady-state error. The FPID controller displays an iso-damping property (flat reaction). The design is done in frequency domain and hence stability and robustness of the design is automatically guaranteed unlike the other time domain optimization-based controller design methods. The proposed method compared with, TID controller (Tilt-Integral-Derivative) and FOLLC (Fractional Order Lead-Lag Compensator. In this study, a fuzzy proportional integral derivative controller (FPID) was adjusted using the differential evolution (DE) method to enhance the automated generation control (AGC) of a three-zone reheat-type power system. The objective function used in this study was an integral of the time-weighted absolute error (ITAE). In the optimization, the gain control parameters of the proportional integral (PI), the integral (I), and FPID were optimized and compared to improve the limitations drawn by the controller over a few parameters. To demonstrate that FPID controllers with IPFC produce better and more accurate optimization results than integral and PI controllers optimized by DE, the interline power flow control (IPFC) of a flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) device with suitable connections and control parameter optimization was used. Also, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) PID with IPFC was compared with the proposed DEFPID + IPFC, and better results were achieved by using the DE technique. Similarly, to demonstrate the suggested technology’s strong control capacity, random load changes were applied to the system in various conditions, and it was demonstrated that the suggested control unit easily tolerated random load perturbations and returned the system to a stable functioning state.

This paper puts forward the implementation of an intelligent type II fuzzy PID (T2-FPID) controller tweaked with a water cycle algorithm (WCA), subjected to an error multiplied with time area over integral (ITAE) objective index for regularizing the variations in frequency and interline power flow of an interconnected power system during load disturbances. The WCA-based T2-FPID is tested on a multi-area (MA) system comprising thermal-hydro-nuclear (THN) (MATHN) plants in each area. The dynamical behavior of the system is analyzed upon penetrating area 1 with a step load perturbation (SLP) of 10%. However, power system practicality constraints, such as generation rate constraints (GRCs) and time delays in communication (CTDs), are examined. Afterward, a territorial control scheme of a superconducting magnetic energy storage system (SMES) and a unified power flow controller (UPFC) is installed to further enhance the system performance. The dominancy of the presented WCA-tuned T2-FPID is revealed by testing it on a widely used dual-area hydro-thermal (DAHT) power system model named test system 1 in this paper. Analysis reveals the efficacy of the presented controller with other approaches reported in the recent literature. Finally, secondary and territorial regulation schemes are subjected to sensitivity analysis to deliberate the robustness.

In this paper, we present a real-time optimized fuzzy fuzzy proportional integral derivative (FPID)-controlled wireless networked system for a high-torque direct current (DC) motor. The main challenge faced by such systems is the delay in the wireless networked control system (WNCS). We employed a powerful FPID controller tuned using particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique to compensate for the delay. The system is tested on a network using the TrueTime simulator with different parameters. The results show that the system exhibits a very stable response, with the FPID controller compensating for the delay effectively. Increasing the number of nodes negatively impacts the system's performance, resulting in higher overshoot, longer settling time, and longer rise time. Moreover, the choice of bandwidth share and sampling time significantly affects the system's stability and real-time response. The use of transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) or user datagram protocol (UDP) protocols with Node MCU is necessary to transfer data from the Arduino Microcontroller to MATLAB, as MATLAB TrueTime simulator does not support direct serial communication. In conclusion, this study highlights valuable insights into the performance of the proposed system, demonstrating the need for further improvements in the system's design and control algorithms to achieve stable operation.

This paper presents the implementation of a fuzzy proportional integral derivative (FPID) control design to track the airway pressure during the mechanical ventilation process. A respiratory system is modeled as a combination of a blower-hose-patient system and a single compartmental lung system with nonlinear lung compliance. For comparison purposes, the classical PID controller is also designed and simulated on the same system. According to the proposed control strategy, the ventilator will provide airway flow that maintains the peak pressure below critical levels when there are unknown parameters of the patient’s hose leak and patient breathing effort. Results show that FPID is a better controller in the sense of quicker response, lower overshoot, and smaller tracking error. This provides valuable insight for the application of the proposed controller.

Cyberattacks (CAs) on modern interconnected power systems are currently a primary concern. The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has increased the possibility of unauthorized access to power system networks for data manipulation. Unauthorized data manipulation may lead to the partial or complete shutdown of a power network. In this paper, we propose a novel security unit that mitigates intrusion for an interconnected power system and compensates for data manipulation to augment cybersecurity. The studied two-area interconnected power system is first stabilized to alleviate frequency deviation and tie-line power between the areas by designing a fractional-order proportional integral derivative (FPID) controller. Since the parameters of the FPID controller can also be influenced by a CA, the proposed security unit, named the automatic intrusion mitigation unit (AIMU), guarantees control over such changes. The effectiveness of the AIMU is inspected against a CA, load variations, and unknown noises, and the results show that the proposed unit guarantees reliable performance in all circumstances.

Abstract Fine control of output power for nuclear power plants is the essential goal for safe operation. In this work, a Fuzzy analytical proportional-integral-derivative (FPID) controller with different configurations is designed to adjust and control the pressure of the PZR system. The stability analysis of the FPID controller with variable gains is established, and conditions for bounded-input bounded-output stability conditions (BIBO) are derived using the small gain theory. Two scenarios are applied for evaluating the dynamic response of applied controllers. In addition, performance indices are compared between the PZR model and data measured from the PCtran VVER-1200 simulator. Finally, a simulation platform is developed for MATLAB / Simulink to implement the three-region nonlinear non-equilibrium PZR model and the designed pressure controllers. The analysis and evaluation results showed good durability of the designed controllers and satisfactory performance of the control. These results further show that the nonlinear PZR model is accurate, feasible, and valuable for dynamic simulation and control unit design.

A power system’s nonlinearity and complexity increase from time to time due to increases of power demand. Therefore, properly designed power system controlsare required. Without these, system instability will cause equipment failures, and possibly even cascading events and blackouts. To cope with this, intelligent controllers using soft computing are necessary for real time operation. In this paper, the reheat type three-area thermal power system is considered, and the output scaling factors, gain parameters of fuzzy membership functions, and parameters of fuzzy-proportional integral derivative (FPID) controllers are optimized using a differential evolution (DE) optimization techniqueand integral time multiplied absolute error (ITAE) as objective functions. To improve the limitations of the controller and to enhance stability of the system, high voltage direct current (HVDC) technology is advantageous due to its quickresponse capabilities. In this paper, a HVDC is connected in parallel to the system, revealing that a FPID controller with a HVDC provides better and more accurate resultscompared to a system without a controller. The test results presented in this paper show the proposed controller’s suitability for managing random load changes.

For the secure usage of battery charging and discharging within electric vehicles, the study of cell pack equalization technology is essential. Therefore, in this paper, an improved Bidirectional Cuk equalizer (BCEQ) structure based on a variable-domain fuzzy PID (VFPID) control equalization strategy is recommended in stages. With the new equalization topology, only half of the capacitive and inductive components are needed to transfer energy between any two individual cells in the power supply. In addition, the proposed VFPID control strategy further improves the efficiency of the equalization model by dynamically adjusting the magnitude of the equalization current parameters. Through simulation experiments, the improved topology was capable of substantially lessening the equalization time and increasing energy utilization by more than 4%. In comparison with the fuzzy PID (FPID) algorithm, around 27.3% faster equalization times can be achieved with the VFPID algorithm; the VFPID algorithm also performed well under the Dynamic Stress Test (DST) condition, demonstrating that the topology and equalization strategy suggested in this paper can successfully address the inconsistency of the FPID algorithm. It has been revealed that the topology and equalization methodology offered in this paper is effective in solving the battery pack inconsistency.

But, this Fractional order PID with the nominal PID controller has maximum performance estimation. Proposed research work focused the Flower Pollination Algorithm based on Multi objective optimization with Genetic evaluation and Fractional order PID with the nominal PID controller is provides CSTR results. When a flower is displayed to maximum variations in this practical state, the Genetic evaluation has been used to identify the variations. The FPID (Flower Pollination Integral Derivative) is used for tuning the parameters of a Fractional order PID with the nominal PID controller for each region to improve the multi-criteria decision making. FPID also denoted as Flower Optimization Integral Derivative (FOID). The Genetic evaluation scheduler has been combined with multiple local linear Fractional order PID with the nominal PID controller to check the stability of loop for entire regions with various levels of temperatures. MATLAB results demonstrate that the feasibility of using the proposed Fractional order PID with the nominal PID controller compared than the existing PID controller, and it shows the FOID attained better results.

Streszczenie:
Since pH neutralization processes have extremely nonlinear characteristics, controlling it might be difficult. Therefore, a special controller design is needed to handle the high nonlinearities of the process. In this study, an inverse neuro-fuzzy model-based controller (NFMBC) design is presented for control of a pH neutralization process (NP). Input-output (IO) data set of the process is collected by applying a proper excitation signal. Then, forward and inverse neuro-fuzzy models of the process are constructed by using this data set after a training process. In terms of design simplicity, a two-input-one-output model structure is chosen for both neuro-fuzzy models. These forward and inverse neuro-fuzzy models are used in a nonlinear internal model control (NIMC) structure in order to provide robustness against disturbances and model mismatches. To examine the proposed controller's performance, simulation studies are carried out under setpoint variation and disturbance conditions. Additionally, the performance of the inverse NFMBC is compared to that of a fuzzy proportional integral derivative (FPID) controller with a 7x7 rule base. The results demonstrate that the designed controller provides more effective control performance for setpoint variations and also exhibits higher robustness against disturbances in the acid flow rate than the FPID controller.
