Streszczenie:
In this paper, we propose a new family of perfect reconstruction (PR) complex filter banks, named interleaved discrete Fourier transform modulated filter banks (Interleaved DFT-FBs). In the filter banks, the analysis filters are generated by interlaced exponential modulating two different analysis prototype filters, and the synthesis filters are generated by two different synthesis prototype filters via the same manner. The filter banks have a simple polyphase structure similar to DFT modulated filter banks (DFT-FBs). More importantly, the proposed Interleaved DFT-FBs can achieve critically sampled PR complex filter bank with FIR analysis and synthesis filters, which is impossible for DFT-FBs. We give and prove the PR condition for 2M-band Interleaved DFT-FBs. Utilizing the result, the design procedure of the prototype filters is presented. In addition, by the theoretic analysis and numerical examples, it is shown that the analysis and synthesis filters cannot simultaneously provide good stopband attenuation for the critically sampled PR Interleaved DFT-FBs. Although the limitation always exits, the filter banks can find applications in some subband coding systems of high bit rate.

Streszczenie:
The use of a filter bank of IIR filters for the spectral decomposition and analysis of signals has been popular for many years. As such, a new filter-bank resonator-based structure, representing an extremely hardware-efficient structure, has received a good deal of attention. Recently, multiple-resonator (MR)-based and general cascaded-resonator (CR)-based filters have been proposed. In comparison to single-resonator-based analyzers, analyzers with a higher multiplicity of resonators in the cascade provide lower side lobes and a higher attenuation in stopbands. In previous works, it was shown that the CR-based filter bank with infinite impulse response (IIR) filters, which is numerically more efficient than one with finite impulse response (FIR) filters, is suitable for dynamic harmonic analysis. This paper uses the same approach to design complex digital filter banks. In the previous case, the optimization task referred to the frequency responses of harmonic filters. In this work, the harmonic filters of the mother filter bank are reshaped so that the frequency response of the sum (or difference, depending on the parity of the number of resonators in the cascade) of two adjacent harmonic filters is optimized. This way, an online adaptive filter base can be obtained. The bandwidth of the filters in the designed filter bank can be simply changed online by adding or omitting the output signals of the corresponding harmonics of the mother filter.

Streszczenie:
In order to select the band-pass filter parameters reasonably, a new method of rolling bearing feature extraction based on wavelet filtering with optimal combination bands is proposed. Filter banks with different number of filter/octave are constructed by Morlet wavelet, which are used to filter the signal. The filters with the optimal frequency-band are selected according to the kurtosis of the filtered signal. Then, the optimal band filters in each filter bank are combined to filter the signals and the feature extraction is available. Through simulation and experimental verification, results show that the proposed method is more effective than the common one.

The design and characteristics of orthonormal two-band QMF filter banks, with perfect reconstruction and linear phase properties, are considered in this paper. The analysis and synthesis filter banks are implemented using all pass filters. Filters in the synthesis bank are ant causal and unstable filters and the block processing technique and an appropriate causal filter are applied for their real time application. The generated filter banks characteristics and the finite block length influence of the block processing technique applied for ant causal filtering are illustrated for a rectangular input signal case. The corresponding wavelet and scaling functions, generated after five iterations of the analysis bank in a low pass branch, are shown.

Streszczenie:
This paper describes a simple, lossless and computationally efficient two-band single (s-) filter bank that creates an opposite band output by subtracting the primary filtered data from the original data. For computationally efficient and error-free s-filter bank achievement, a maximally flat (MAXFLAT) half-band filter with zero odd-order coefficients is characterized from a unique perfect reconstruction condition, and an explicit impulse–response formula (for non-zero integer coefficients of even order) is derived in a closed form of the filter. The examples are shown to provide a complete and accurate solution for the design of such s-filter banks. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed s-filter banks is clearly verified by comparing the lossless 5/3 and lossy 9/7 filter banks (in the JPEG2000). The simulation results show that the s-filter banks lead to better performance than the JPEG2000 filter banks using two filters although allowing low computational complexity of less than 50%. This new approach is shown to provide significant advantages over existing lossless discrete wavelet transform (DWT) filter banks in both design flexibility and computational complexity.

Envelope analysis based on the combination of complex Morlet wavelet and Kurtogram have advantages of automatic calculation of the center frequency and bandwidth of required band-pass filter. However, there are some drawbacks in the traditional algorithm, which include that the filter bandwidth is not -3dB bandwidth and the analysis frequency band covered by the filter-banks are inconsistent at different levels. A new algorithm is introduced in this paper. Through it, both optimal center frequency and bandwidth of band-pass filter in the envelop analysis can be obtained adaptively. Meanwhile, it ensures that the filters in the filter-banks are overlapped at the point of -3dB bandwidth and the consistency of frequency band that the filter-banks covered.

Streszczenie:
In this work, a novel design scheme is proposed for the construction of symmetric fractional over-complete wavelet filter banks. We first provide solutions to the open problem of designing low-pass filters that are symmetric and of minimum-length. We then obtain the high high-pass filters via Toeplitz matrix factorization which is of less computational complexity than existing methods. The resulting filter banks are approximately shift-invariant. The designed filter banks are applied in image restoration that uses an analysis based model solved by split Bregman algorithms. The experiments show the constructed symmetric fractional over-complete wavelet transforms (FOWTs) allow better restoration results than some other wavelet transforms in the literature.

Streszczenie:
To desire expectable applications in image processing, the construction of 3-band dual tree complex wavelet is a meaningful and constructive topic. In this paper, a sufficient and necessary condition 2π/3-periodic of phase difference between the prime and dual filter banks is proposed. With this condition, it is proposed that the phase function θl(ω) of wavelet filters can be uniquely determined by the phase function θ0(ω) of the scaling filters. Imposed on a necessary constraint to θ0(ω), phase function θl(ω) can be obtained which results in the analytical of the 3-band dual tree complex wavelet. Furthermore, the complex filter banks are obtained using the wavelet matrix factorization approach. Then the dual tree 3-band complex wavelet is analytical that indicates approximately shift invariance property. In addition, it also has more direction selectivity because there are more sub-bands than dyadic wavelet transform is frequency domain.

Streszczenie:
In this paper we propose two new parameterizations for unimodular filter banks (UMFBs) by exploiting the canonical forms of the nilpotent matrix present in the factorization of UMFBs. A judicious choice of the canonical structure leads to simple implementation. The use of Discrete Walsh Hadamard Transform (DWHT) saves a major amount of multiplication. The presence of the nilpotent matrix also facilitates the design of filter banks with unequal length analysis and synthesis filters. The structures ensure perfect reconstruction (PR) with minimal delay in the McMillan sense. The free parameters can be obtained through unconstrained optimization, which is hardly possible with the existing design methods. Design examples are presented based on the proposed structures. Although there is a significant reduction in the number of free parameters, the performances of these structures are found to be comparable with and better than the existing design techniques for UMFBs. The design of a class of decomposable higher order UMFBs with unequal lengths of analysis and synthesis filters is done. Also, the design of a one-regular filter bank based on the simplest structure proposed is presented.

Streszczenie:
The coprime discrete Fourier transform (DFT) filter banks provide an effective scheme of spectral sensing for wide-sense stationary (WSS) signals in case that the sampling rate is far lower than the Nyquist sampling rate. And the resolution of the coprime DFT filter banks in the Fourier domain (FD) is 2π/MN, where M and N are coprime. In this work, a digital fractional Fourier transform- (DFrFT-) based coprime filter banks spectrum sensing method is suggested. Our proposed method has the same sampling principle as the coprime DFT filter banks but has some advantages compared to the coprime DFT filter banks. Firstly, the fractional power spectrum of the chirp-stationary signals which are nonstationary in the FD can be sensed effectively by the coprime DFrFT filter banks because of the linear time-invariant (LTI) property of the proposed system in discrete-time Fourier domain (DTFD), while the coprime DFT filter banks can only sense the power spectrum of the WSS signals. Secondly, the coprime DFrFT filter banks improve the resolution from 2π/MN to 2π sin α/MN by combining the fractional filter banks theory with the coprime theory. Simulation results confirm the obtained analytical results.

Abstract. Multicarrier systems, especially orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM), are already established in a lot of current communications standards. Moreover, they are very prominent candidates for future systems in mobile communications. Filter bank based multicarrier systems can be designed to provide a better spectral shaping than OFDM systems. That way, they have some advantages against OFDM, which will be shown in this work and motivate further research in the direction of channel equalizers with low complexity. This leads to optimum bandwidth efficient multicarrier systems without guard interval, i.e. cyclic prefix.

Streszczenie:
The design approach presented in this paper uses a new metaheuristic method Chaos Game Optimization (CGO) to design a 2-channel quadrature mirror filter (QMF) banks. For this study, finite impulse response (FIR) low-pass prototype filter coefficients are optimized to minimize the cost function. The cost function is formulated as the sum of four terms: the square sum of the errors between this estimated frequency response and the ideal filter response, passband ripple, stopband ripple, and stopband edge frequency error. These parameters are important components of FIR filter prototype design that are often used alone in many studies. To obtain a QMF bank prototype filter, prototype filter modulated with an appropriate complex exponential signal. The produced design results of the proposed method like performance parameters, frequency responses of prototype filters and QMF bank results are presented and compared with earlier reported results. The results show that the presented study has significant improvement in the performance parameters of QMF banks and prototype filter.

Streszczenie:
A class of the balanced biorthogonal multiwavelets was constructed by defining a specific matrix filter structure, in which the multifilter banks of multiwavelets have had the desired symmetry. Here, the multifilter banks have possess symmetric/antisymmetric, which resembled filters of scalar wavelet and have in favor of application, notwithstanding the multiwavelets constructed in this paper have lost the linear phase, so they have formed a new type of multiwavelets undoubtedly.

Streszczenie:
We turn a given filter bank into a filtering scheme that provides perfect reconstruction, synthesis is the adjoint of the analysis part (so-called unitary filter banks), all filters have equal norm, and the essential features of the original filter bank are preserved. Unitary filter banks providing perfect reconstruction are induced by tight generalized frames, which enable signal decomposition using a set of linear operators. If, in addition, frame elements have equal norm, then the signal energy is spread through the various filter bank channels in some uniform fashion, which is often more suitable for further signal processing. We start with a given generalized frame whose elements allow for fast matrix vector multiplication, as, for instance, convolution operators, and compute a normalized tight frame, for which signal analysis and synthesis still preserve those fast algorithmic schemes.

Streszczenie:
Numerous investigations have been conducted to enhance the motor imagery-based brain–computer interface (BCI) classification performance on various aspects. However, there are limited studies comparing their proposed feature selection framework performance on both objective and subjective datasets. Therefore, this study aims to provide a novel framework that combines spatial filters at various frequency bands with double-layered feature selection and evaluates it on published and self-acquired datasets. Electroencephalography (EEG) data are preprocessed and decomposed into multiple frequency sub-bands, whose features are then extracted, calculated, and ranked based on Fisher’s ratio and minimum-redundancy-maximum-relevance (mRmR) algorithm. Informative filter banks are chosen for optimal classification by linear discriminative analysis (LDA). The results of the study, firstly, show that the proposed method is comparable to other conventional methods through accuracy and F1-score. The study also found that hand vs. feet classification is more discriminable than left vs. right hand (4–10% difference). Lastly, the performance of the filter banks common spatial pattern (FBCSP, without feature selection) algorithm is found to be significantly lower (p = 0.0029, p = 0.0015, and p = 0.0008) compared to that of the proposed method when applied to small-sized data.

Streszczenie:
A new cosine-modulated filter bank (CMFB) structure is proposed based on the frequency-response masking (FRM) approach using masking filter decomposition. The resulting structure, the so-called FRM2-CMFB, presents reasonable computational complexity (number of arithmetic operations per output sample) and allows one to design filter banks with extremely large number of bands. The examples include the use of M=1024 bands, where the standard minimax method cannot be employed. These examples indicate that the reduction in computational complexity can be as high as 60% of the original FRM-CMFB structure, which does not use masking filter decomposition.

Streszczenie:
The paper introduces Laplace pyramid, Ridgelet and Curvelet principle, structure and methods, and their denoising experimental studies. It also introduces the traditional direction filter of principle, structure and methodology, and the simulation experiments show that its image denoising PSNR is slightly lower than wavelet but denoising image visual quality is better than former. To that end, proposed a new direction filters that uniform direction filter banks and non-uniform direction filters, proved filter passband condition and related design and implementation issues were discussed. nonlinear experiment shows that the new direction filter bank was better than the wavelet.
