Abstract: Geophilosophy is a lag concept in Deleuze and Guattari's work, and besides it can be applied at the last book in partnership Qu'est-ce que la Philosophie?, it is a notion that involves their main conceptual creations, circumscribing the period of Capitalisme et schizophrénie, but in dialogue with distincts notions and moments of both autors work. Under the heading of the notion, philosophy consecrates the conexion of an absolut immanence plan derivative of a social and immanent environment that constitutes the conjunction of variable relations between the territory and the earth. This way, the act of thinking doesn't gravitate in the orbit of the categories of subject and object, but concerns to a intensive and contingent environment, that, setting an ambience of external circunstances, delimits a field of conexions and borders, of multiple relations and becomings that skirts the molar and the molecular, establishing a system of change, capture and overcoding of the codes. In this route, the thought and the concepts invocate an "outside", a molecular becoming, animal and inconspicuous becomings that settle the territory and the assemblages, profiling conexions, heterogeneous and rhizomatic ramifications that follow by intensive lines, conjuring forces and movements of earth that operates by diagrammatic movements, geodey and deterritorialization. Setting up, in effect, a cartography of displacements, directions and pathways that circumscribes the map of a geography agitated by creepage, longitudes and latitudes, being these, by the way, the conditions of the absolut immanence plan of thinking, of its deterritorialization and reterritorialization

This article explores trans*versal connections between transness, blackness, and the animal. Drawn from the conceptual vocabulary of cultural theorist Felix Guattari, this article argues that the central purpose of transversality is to create linkages between previously unexplored singularities in a field, and then to create connections in other conceptual topographies at different levels of discursivity. The article advances an extension of Guattari's transversal into a more capacious concept of the trans*versal, to analyze the #blacklivesmatter and #blacktranslivematter movements that draw on critical animal studies to reveal ways that species hierarchies are always present in processes of racialization that allow some lives to matter more, or less, than others.

Streszczenie:
The Western contemporary notion of the secular family seems to be supported by the following contradictory premises: on the one hand, the nuclear family is supposed to be based on love (between husband and wife; between parents and children) that is expected to last ‘till death do us part'. On the other hand, what ought to last – in the relation between a restricted set of love objects – is also known to be an elusive and uncontrollable affect(ion), that seems to arise 'out of nowhere', and to disappear as quickly. Further, the popular understanding of a loving relation goes hand in hand with a supporting injunction to possess an object of love, which finds its ideological support in the contemporary ethos of Capital's relations of production/reproduction, particularly in the notion of private property. Several consequences ensue from these contradictions. Firstly, love gets compromised by fixing it on an extremely restricted set of chosen members and becomes something one needs to 'work at' (in case it 'fails') instead of a spontaneously arising force. It eventually becomes a 'promise' that is meant always to fail; however, it generates a whole spectrum of industries that successfully cash in on the idea of love, by selling love in what looks to be an unlimited variety of commodity forms (products, service, affective services, etc.). Secondly, the notion of love that is meant to correspond to a possession of its object is a product as well as producer. This notion of... [to full text]
Be to, populiarus meilės supratimas yra palaikomas papildoma reakcine geismo forma - pasisavinti, 'privatizuoti' meilės objektą, – atrandanti atgarsį ir palaikimą, šiuolaikinių kapitalistinių santykių, grindžiamų privačia nuosavybę, etose. This research proposes, based on Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophy, a rhizomatic reading of the historical novel Amar-te a ti nem sei se com carícias (2004), by the Paranaense writer Wilson Bueno. By reviewing the most relevant theoretical tendencies related to the fictional genre (HUTCHEON, 1991; MENTON, 1993;ESTEVES, 2010), I criticize the didacticism found in these theories. By the mapping of the incipient criticism works of Bueno’s novel, I present a deviation related to these preview works, aiming at a concept of literature closer to the cathartic and deterritorialization function of the esthetic text. To do that, I try to define the historical novel specificity, describing it as a private manifestation of the historical social imagination (BANN, 1994) that puts into practice images from the past (ANKERSMIT, 2001). In this perspective, however, the literary writing is characterized by the way a writer disconnects these images from the past and puts his reader in touch with a non-place, making it possible, through the use of language, a hollowing out experience. To promote this reading, I make use of rhizomatic perception of the literary phenomenon, such as Deleuze and Guattari present it in Mil Platôs (2011), identifying, in the novel, lines of hard, molecular and abstract segmentarity. So, I understand the images from the past to be mobilized in the fiction as components of the novel’s hard segmentarity line, placing, as a next step, the literary resources that work with what Deleuze and Guattary named quantums of deterritorialization. But if the fiction historical meaning is affected by the molecular segmentarity line, it is in the abstract segmentarity line that, with greater intensity, it disappears and leaves room for a dive in the other of all worlds (BLANCHOT, 1997; LEVY, 2011). Thus I identify the moment of the novel’s abstract segmentarity line when everything takes place in terms of a savage and implacable present. The abstract segmentarity line makes the historical novel an experiment about the limits of a historically determined society, showing the possible fissures on the subjectivity wall from a past time, deforming History, promoting the contact with its hollowing out.

This thesis addresses the question posed to ecocriticism by Dana Phillips in his iconoclastic The Truth of Ecology: Nature, Culture, and Literature in America: “What is the truth of ecology, insofar as this truth is addressed by literature and art?” by examining how ecocriticism has, or has failed to, contextualize ecocritical discourse within an ecological framework. After reviewing the current state of ecocriticism and its relationship with environmentalism, the thesis suggests that both rely on the same outmoded, inaccurate and essentially inutile ecological concepts and language, and argues for a new approach to ecocriticism that borrows its concepts and language from the geophilosophy of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. The thesis concludes with a reassessment of the work of Barry Lopez, showing how his fiction, when viewed through the lens of geophilosophy, does not support essentialist notions of nature, but rather works to articulate a world of multiplicities, and new modes of becoming.

Abstract: The object of this study are the close similarities between the literary production of Clarice Lispector and the philosophical project of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. Our aim will not be to establish points of influence but to look for the variation lines, of deviation, of fugue that permeate the construction of claricean work and that in the philosophical project of Deleuze and Guattari, are the weapons of the writer to construct what they call minor literature, or an innovative literature that contrasts with a literature considered major or standard, the canonical literature. We try to understand how those variation lines occurr in the treatment of the writing, of the bodies, of the time and of the thought in the work of Clarice Lispector composing what we call art of fugue. By getting elo ser to the music, elaricean writings inovate taking distance of the construction of a figurative or a representative art as it tums the process of writing in one of its main themes

According to Gilles Deleuze, writing about music would be a summit of thought, the idea of superiority of the music is even asserted. Deleuze doesn’t think the relationship between music and philosophy as a comment but as a becoming. Music is not just a subject of analysis since in turn influences the style of conceptualization of the philosopher. The musical question thus revolves around two perspectives : a becoming-music of philosophy, a becoming-conceptual of music. For example, the concept of refrain refers to both a "little song" and the eternal return of Nietzsche.Becoming-music of philosophy is an artistic dimension of thought, so the writing style became a major issue. Deleuze shares with writers the creation of a foreign language in everyday language - which tends to create a « musicalisation » of words. As the writer invents a word music with a continuously variable setting of the language, the music of philosophy implies a continuous variation of the concept, including the use of metaphor. The philosophical text then refuses any interpretative approach to concentrate the affective part of the text. Such becoming is not without producing a form of ambiguity since it ultimately makes indistinguishable poetry and philosophy. How to take music fot the deleuzian concept in the field of philosophy? The same continuous variation is seen under high aesthetic ideal within the becomingconceptual of music. This second perspective corresponds to a more traditional aspect of Deleuze's thought since music is subjected to the ontological apparatus of the philosopher. Inspired by Wagner, Proust, Bergson and Boulez, Deleuze develops a metaphysic ofmusic based on two notions : the pure past and reminiscence. Because of such an idealistic conception of music aspect, Deleuze opposes Nietzsche's aesthetics to revive the romantism

Gilles Deleuze e Félix Guattari, autores do século XX, criaram a Esquizoanálise e estudaram várias áreas de conhecimento, dentre as quais, a Psicologia.
Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari were twentieth century authors who not only studied several knowledge areas, such as Psychology, but also founded Schizoanalysis. In order to elaborate an unconscious concept, these theoreticians discussed some topics from Psychoanalysis. This discussion concerns a great part of their works and searching for a definition of machinic unconscious. The importance of this work lies in the reconstitution of a psychoanalytic unconscious, taking advantage of those productive aspects and showing new perspectives of analysis. In this dissertation, we focused on their writings about Melanie Klein s Psychoanalysis, which possesses as one of its fundamental element the notion of part-objects. Therefore, it was necessary to investigate this statement because it is revolutionary and help us to understand the unconscious. On the other hand, Deleuze/Guattari used these objects in a different way, trying to emphasize the part-object productive aspects. In that way, this study, which has a theoretical-exploratory characteristic, had as purposes to understand and to systematize Deleuze/Guattari s thoughts in reference to the construction of Schizoanalysis unconscious. To reach this goal, we examined Klein s theory through the Schizoanalytic perspective, searching for intersections between these two epistemological fields. Moreover, we complemented Deleuze/Guattari reflections whenever it was necessary. So, as our first point of analysis we adopted the part-object dynamic in paranoid-schizoid and depressive positions in their relation to the ego integrated and desintegrated functions. As our second point, we study how the part-objects participate in the body expression... (Complete abstract, click electronic address below)

This dissertation explores the possibilities of a bionomadology: a science located between the hard sciences, or State sciences, and the nomadic sciences, concepts which are understood in the way they are developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari in the book A Thousand Plateaus. The threads of a bionomadology are, thus, spread out. The threads of a science that tries to undo the organizations and to unsettle the organisms. The threads of a science of metamorphoses and becomings. These threads work to interweave science with philosophy. It is there, in the point in which a nomadic science meets a philosophy of difference, that a bionomadology is developed. It is a science of life. A science of a life. The threads of this science are unfolded in a plane of immanence. A bionomadology tends to drag new things with it. It prefers to mingle what, apparently, is determined, to get mixed in a tangle of intensities. A truly living experience.

In preschools it is common that mathematics mainly focuses on how children learn mathematics through everyday activities, or on children´s understanding of mathematical concepts. However, views on mathematics-learning are today deepened and extended, and embrace children’s own mathematical signs, visual representations and bodily experiences. The overall aim of this thesis is to experiment with how this extended view in which children´s engagement and creativity is affirmed, simultaneously as they are developing knowledge about the world of mathematics with its procedures and rules. With inspiration from the French philosophers Gilles Deleuze´s and Félix Guattari´s immanent ontology and transcendental empiricism, and from the pedagogical philosophy of the preschools in Reggio Emilia, I have experimented both with mathematics, and with toddlers’ explorations and potentiality. The research-material primarily consists of video observations and documentations, and it is taken from a project with a mathematical topic through a cooperative work by me, preschool teachers and children aged 1–3 years. Methodologically the work is based on one example from the project where some children explores and experiment on geometric objects. In relation to the example some concepts from Reggio Emilia’s pedagogical thinking and Deleuze´s and Guattari´s immanent ontology are put to work, by focusing on the connections that emerge. The study make visible that children explore and experiment with mathematics in what in the study has called “a relational field of potentiality”. In relation to preschool didactics the study stresses the importance of teachers paying attention to and “listening” to children’s experimentations and sign-making, in order not to interrupt what is emerging/becoming. This requires an environment that embraces “the hundred languages” and enables collective experimentation for thoughts and ideas to be shared in “togetherness”.

This essay examines experimental dance practices with one- and two-year-olds in preschool, both practically and theoretically, a topic which has up until now only been examined in a few studies and never before in an empirical and praxis-oriented project with the youngest children of preschool. The purpose of the study is to investigate how dance practices can be made possibleand what comes to expression in experimental dance practices with the youngest children in a preschool environment when they are made to be active participants in the content and execution of experimental dance in a preschool environment. During the three months long practice-based empirical study, the researcher experiments in participation with a group of 1-2,5-year-olds at their preschool department. This work is documented with still image and film camera by the researcher and the children. Methodologically, the study has been conducted through support and inspiration from a/r/t-ography, a practicebased and arts-based research method wherein the researcher uses her own body as an instrument of research. The analysis of the data material, which consists of films, photographs and process notes, is carried out using the concepts of immanence-philosophy, mainly through texts by Gille Deleuze and Felix Guattari and of Erin Manning, and the concept as method, as a method of analysis. The results show that when the youngest children are given the opportunity to experiment in dance together with an initiated and participating researcher, the dance practice becomes varied and dynamic during its course of events. The dance practice also shows novel expressions of form and movement, group constellations, and choices of material and duration than what is commonly described of dance when discussed in literature and research. Furthermore, this essay contributes additional knowledge to the field by showinghow the access to the philosophy of Gille Deleuze and Felix Guattari can produce new ways of doing and thinking about dance practice and the dancing body and alternative ways to arrange dance with the youngest children of the preschool. The study also offers didactical knowledge of how teachers in a preschool environment can arrange creative dance practices for the youngest children in everyday activities.

O currículo-nômade é produzido no acontecendo. Ele escapa do planejamento e do controle.

Abstract : Reassuring the potentiality of philosophy and literature, through encounters of texts by Gilles Deleuze-Félix Guattari and short stories by João Guimarães Rosa, we have considered education as a plane of immanence, as a possibility of assemblage, as experimentation. Other philosophical concepts will be observed in education: rhizome, territorialization/deterritorialization/reterritorialization, and faciality. The theoretical argument will be related to literary texts which are connected to the concepts. Literature pulses creation, it is an inviting rhythm. Art, so present in Deleuze-Guattari¿s writings, actualizes the philosophical concepts, and it repeats them. In repetition, in na experimentation-writing, full of movements, crossings, pulsations, that follows surprising paths, that causes flight and acting, that avoids an only face, we can assure the potentiality of education. It is a master¿s dissertation in Philosophy of Education that aims to make our thoughts of education more open, by interconnecting philosophy and art, and the ways their specific knowledge is intertwined. A film-experimentation used to present this dissertation is attached to the written material, as suggested by the examining board

Streszczenie:
This thesis, consisting of a novel and a dissertation, examines the intersections of place, identity and fiction. During earlier studies I encountered nomadology as represented in Stephen Muecke's work on Australian Indigeneity, and also the developments on theories and practices of nomadology undertaken by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. I began to explore the production of culture in cities read through these ideas. In the present work, my thinking and approaches have been extended significantly by Edward W. Soja's insights into lived experience, cities and spaces, and by the rhizomatics of Deleuze and Guattari. What is presented here is a hybrid text - novel and dissertation. Both explore ideas about the production of culture in cities and the exchange of external and internal processes that occurs between people and places. I wanted to articulate what I see as particular cultural processes of postmodern cities, which have developed in ways that depart from conventional understandings of what constitutes urban environments and urbanism. There are co-relations between cities that began in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the increasing global influence of American popular culture, and new millennium developments redefined by technological insurgence. We have seen the emergence of a new kind of city, one that offers accelerated, ahistorical, and dispersed spaces and experiences. My theorising of the 'new frontier city' is explicated in the dissertation, and represented in the novel through the Gold Coast. The relationship between urban formations and postmodern cultural signification is mimicked by the relationship between the two texts. While neither directly refers to the other, an association is developed whereby key characteristics of the new frontier city, such as spectacle, subterfuge, simulation and speculation, are manifested by my fictional characters, thematics and stylistic approaches. In addition, the dissertation sometimes works creatively while the novel is derivative of actual icons, people, monuments and events. The work examines the collapse of distinction between the 'real' (traditionally represented by the city and urban formations) and the hyperreal (presented by fictionality). I see and position the cities of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and the Gold Coast as texts - as new frontier cities where the language of signs, simulation and consumption permeates the cultural and urban fabric in intriguing ways. I argue for the new frontier city as a site rich in narrative potential. I critique readings that privilege Euro-centric, modernist notions of high cultural values and cosmopolitanism which continue to exclude the new frontier from 'serious' cultural status. The fascination I experience for the new frontier city is enacted through an amalgam; a methodology which is applicable to the divergent urban and cultural formations of new frontier cities and the kinds of fictions they produce. The assemblaic and nomadic approach taken in the thesis allows for the development of a relationship of association. For though I am influenced throughout by contemporary urban theorists such as Soja, Sudjic and Frost, whose variant perspectives challenge dominant discourses in their fields, the text remains deliberately unsituated. It contributes to understandings in the realm of urban policy and analysis but ultimately functions as a treatise on how the writer can merge both fictional and non-fictional perspectives to construct meaning and narrative in the seemingly random and impenetrable urban landscapes of the new frontier. The novel and dissertation are therefore parallel documents which map this process rhizomatically. I resist explicit and didactic explications in order to 'mimic' (in Deleuzian terms) the more arbitary and distillatory process of the creative writer. The opening chapters of Future Frontier explore the development history of Los Angeles, the Gold Coast and Las Vegas, concentrating on the meaning and characteristics of the new frontier city in relation to the narrative experience. Section Two concentrates on broader definitions of new frontier cities and the contrasts with European architectural and urban experience. Section Three explores the effects of cinema and cinematic mimicry on new frontier cities. This section features micro-concentrations on celebrity worship, reality TV, plastic surgery and the geography of extreme experience. Section Four focuses primarily on the Gold Coast and examines ways in which the distinctive processes of the new frontier have influenced significant subsections of its culture in the arenas of politics, development and architecture. Section Five posits a 'culture of subterfuge'. Here the associated effects of gambling, risk, speculation, crime and fraud are examined. The closing statement, Culture of Contradiction, offers a navigation through the narrative potentials of the new frontier by recognising it as a site fuelled by inherent, overlapping and divergent fictional voices. This analysis informs the stylistic technique of the novel, which features three contrasting voices and timescapes. These 'speakers' converge obsessively on the elusive character of Jade. The key storyteller is The Dealer, a croupier who attaches himself to Jade in ways which are reminiscent of classic noir but subverted by his displacement in the new frontier. His object is to reveal, to 'turn over' the present. Another aspect of Jade's character is evoked by the recollective voice of Anthony who is isolated and remains ignorant of other players in the game. The third voice is representative of the city - the omnipotent eye of the Gold Coast. Each 'version' of Jade's story overlaps the other. Because the reader never gains access to her own interior monologue Jade remains absent, in an intimate sense, while being relentlessly pursued, coveted and externally revealed. Jade, like the new frontier city, must always be read and experienced through the chimera of unreality - through the affected gaze of others - in order to be known. Jade fascinates as the new frontier city does, and she is marked by desire for impermanence.

Streszczenie:
This thesis combines histories of the implementation of ABC Online (the website of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Australia's largest national Public Service Broadcaster) with the political philosophies of Foucault, and of Deleuze and Guattari. Following the Deleuzian argument that institutions of enclosure are in crisis because they exist in between diagrams of the disciplinary and control societies, the thesis tests each of the Foucauldian diagrams of discipline, governmentality and control against the ABC as Public Service Broadcaster. It explores issues such as which ABC strategies belong to which diagram, and the ways in which changes in communications technologies altered governing rationales of these diagrams at the ABC. The thesis uses the implementation of ABC Online to explore the idea of the ABC in the late 1990s as operating in between social diagrams. One way of examining this 'in between-ness' is to use the Public Service Broadcasting idea as an instance of arboreal thinking and the internet idea as rhizomic. The thesis employs that model to argue that Public Service Broadcasting as it is practised is not merely an arboreal assemblage, and that actual implementations of the internet are more than merely rhizomic assemblages. The thesis details some of the earliest relations between broadcasting and the internet at the ABC, and describes the relations between rhizomic and arboreal images of the ABC at particular sites and in various discourses. This examination concludes that both ways of imagining the ABC - the arboreal and the rhizomic - have been essential to the success of ABC Online. While the position of the ABC in between social diagrams caused a sense of crisis, ABC Online was in fact successful largely because of its position in between social diagrams. Not only was ABC Online remarkably successful in its first five years, but it was successful in ways which could not be accommodated in such documents as the ABC Charter. The public silences of ABC Online both allowed it to thrive, and conversely supported arboreal stratified ways of defending the ABC. Defences of the ABC that used arboreal thinking as a rhetorical strategy continued to dominate public discussion of the ABC, despite the successes of contrary examples in practice. One such example was the successful implementation of Radio Australia Online at a time when the Mansfield Review sought to limit the scope of the ABC to domestic free-to-air broadcasting. When some ABC Online practices were publicised in relation to the proposed Telstra deal, the resultant controversy concentrated on the non-commercial/commercial boundary at the ABC. The controversy also highlighted fears that the Online environment may alter the ethical relations between the ABC and its publics. In particular, the ethical goals of independence and integrity were perceived as being under threat in the World Wide Web environment. These goals were further problematised within the organisation by the demands of interactive subsites. These subsites demonstrated an altered ethical relation between the ABC and its user in the online environment of the control society.

Based on concepts and thought of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, the present research aims at outlining contemporary politics action. In this direction were interviewed six different people - different experiences, different social practices. This dissertation dialogues with art and political anthropology to compose desiring forces able to enlarge the potency to say yes to other forms of existence. The intensive experience and its expression, multiplicity and the direct act characterize politics as nomadic, disruptive and intense
This thesis establishes a phenomenology of desire in Anne Carson’s novel-in-verse Autobiography of Red. It examines how desire constructs the self in the text and how it positions it in relation to its surrounding world. The self’s status in the text is read through Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari’s understanding of desire and their concepts becoming and deterritorialisation as explicated in Anti-Oedipus and A Thousand Plateaus. These concepts are used to map the transformative power of desire in Autobiography of Red and provide an approach through which to understand the tenuous nature of self in the text. It reveals desire not as located solely in the relation between the text’s protagonist Geryon and Herakles, but as a movement that animates and constructs the text. It reads the “red” of the title, the presence of the volcano, of lava, as essential to the text, mapping how the force of desire positions the self and undoes the notion of a phenomenal “background”. Deleuzian desire has linguistic implications and the thesis further extends the use of becoming and deterritorialisation to understand Carson’s poetics and the text as the site that gives rise to a phenomenology of desire. The text is deterritorialised and Carson articulates a way of relaying experience beyond the representative mode. The thesis offers a reading of Autobiography of Red with a Deleuzian theory of desire, which is a new approach in Carson scholarship. As such it hopes to open up both the poetic text and theoretic text to new understandings and create points of departure for further research.

This thesis discusses the users' involvement into the organization of public services (especially within the framework of social and rehabilitation policies). The first part deals with a theory of involvement - forms of commitment and participation. The second and third parts offer an analysis of rehabilitation policies (revenu minimum d'insertion, "the minimum rehabilitation income") and intend to show the importance of users' involvement in the enforcement of these policies. These reflexions on involvement are closely associated to the questionning of the new realities of power. How do the public policies manage to obtain users' involvement? this involvement theory intends to realize a convergence of michel foucault's theory of power and gilles deleuze and felix guattari's own theory of subjectivity

Thesis (PhD)-- Stellenbosch University, 2013.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This dissertation examines the idea of apocalypse through the lens of science fiction (sf) written during the current fin de siècle period. I have dated this epoch, known as the information era, as starting in 1980 with the advent of personal computing and ending in approximately 2020 when the functional limits of silicon-based digital manufacturing and production are expected to be reached. By surveying the field of contemporary sf, I identify certain trends and subgenres that relate to particular aspects of apocalyptic thought, namely, conceptions of the ‘terror of history,’ the sublimity of accelerated techno-scientific advance, the ‘affective turn’ in media-culture and posthuman philosophy. My principal method of inquiry into how the apocalypse is imagined or ‘figured’ in sf is the concept of hyperstition – a neologism (combining the words ‘hyper’ and ‘superstition’) coined by the Cybernetic Culture Research Unit (CCRU). Hyperstition describes an aesthetic response whereby cultural fictions – principally, ideas relating to apocalypse – are imagined as transmuting into material realities. I begin by scrutinizing two posthumanist works of theory-fiction (theory written in the mode of sf) by the CCRU and 0rphan Drift which anticipate immanent human extinction and imagine the inception of a new evolutionary cycle of machine-augmented evolution This sensibility is premised on the sociallydestabilising cycles of exponential growth that characterise information-era technological developments, particularly in the digital industries, as well as the accelerated human impact on the natural environment. Central to my argument is the romantic materialist philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari and their concepts of accelerationism, schizoanalysis and Bodies without Organs (BwO’s). Their ontology is constructed around the idea that exponential rates of development necessitate a new aesthetic paradigm that ventures beyond philosophies of human access. The narrative of apocalypse, approached from this perspective, can be interpreted in catastrophic or anastrophic terms; either as a permanent ending or as the beginning of something radically new. Using hyperstition, I also investigate the sf of Russell Hoban, Michael Swanwick, Brian Stableford, Charles Stross, Dan Simmons, M. John Harrison and Paul McAuley to see not only how these authors interpret the concept of cultural acceleration, but also to identify common threads. Countering the catastrophic ‘death of affect’ postulated by theorists such as Jean Baudrillard and Paul Virilio with the anastrophic rejoinder of cyberdelic information-era countercultures, I conclude by investigating the new ‘affective turn’ in contemporary media theory. The works of theoretical fiction and sf that I investigate are informed, as I demonstrate, by the Situationist techniques of psychogeography, dérive and detournement, as well as by the literary tropes of 18th and 19th century fin de siècle Gothic and dark Romantic fiction.

This research present a study on the manner of proceeding of the relations between public school and community, focusing on the agencement that works in the constitution of the different ways of relations in an educational institution of the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre. Based on Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, we try to think of the relations as events, effects of meaning collectivelly agenced by heterogeneous instances that compose the real social. Our problem concerns the field of action of discourse and subjectivity , assuming the hypothesis that it is possible to conceive the relations in the institutions beyond the individual representation, the interpersonal relations and the postulation of the social reproduction. We intend to join the knowledge of the Discourse Analysis of the French trend to the discussion proposed by Deleuze and Guattary on a Philosophy of the Language and a Theory of Subjectivity. We use the cartographic resource proposed by these authors, working with the discourses produced by the interaction between school and community. To accomplish such proposal we attended school activities during a year , having interviews, observations, documents reading as well as participating in meetings and festive gatherings. In our study we found some foldings concerning the relations between school and community. These foldings show us the complexity of this relations which we have ignored when trying to understand it based on the individual mode of subjectivity which has become stronger since modern times. Our cartography recorded many foldings, some more intense like the bureaucratic folding which prevents other forces from being more powerful at school. We intend to develop a way of thinking of the realtions in the institutions, a thought of the foldings, to feed the field of the Institutional Analysis of Psychology and Education.

This PhD practice-led research inquiry sets out to examine and describe how the fluid interactions between memory and time can be rendered via the remediation of my painting and the construction of a digital image archive. My abstract digital art and handcrafted practice is informed by Deleuze and Guattari’s rhizomics of becoming. I aim to show that the technological mobility of my creative strategies produce new conditions of artistic possibility through the mobile principles of rhizomic interconnection, multiplicity and diversity. Subsequently through the ongoing modification of past painting I map how emergent forms and ideas open up new and incisive engagements with the experience of a ‘continual present’. The deployment of new media and cross media processes in my art also deterritorialises the modernist notion of painting as a static and two dimensional spatial object. Instead, it shows painting in a postmodern field of dynamic and transformative intermediality through digital formats of still and moving images that re-imagines the relationship between memory, time and creative practice.

Bibliography: leaves 138-149. This thesis investigates the theoretical and practical importance of nomadic ways of life for architecture. Nomadology is a construction of Deleuze and Gattari's 'counter-philosophy' challenging authenticity and propriety, in this case, in the context of architecture. It describes how nomadology may challenge static, permanent, heroically solitary ways of working and dwelling, and suggests strategies - diagramming, ephemerality, movement, and collaboration - as ways of reconciling nomadism and architecture.

This thesis aims to analyze and interpret a number of central works – Vimpelstaden (1985), Som en gång varit äng (1988), Blomman och människobenet (2003), I en cylinder i vattnet av vattengråt (2005) and Vad hjälper det en människa om hon häller rent vatten över sig i alla sina dagar (2009) – by the Swedish poet Ann Jäderlund (1955-) in the context of phenomenology and affect theory. The analysis consists of three chapters and proceeds chronologically with technical scrutinies of separate phases of Jäderlund’s œuvre – from the aphasic-like treatment of established phraseologies in Vimpelstaden and frozen expressions of the botanical discourse in Som en gång varit äng, to the uncanny focus on perceptual patterns as such in her later works. Throughout these analyses the thesis observes a series of techniques with which the author presents us with a kind of sensory paradox, through a) creating language-based complex appearances, non-appropriable by means of the normal perceptual patterns of embodied perception, while still b) simulating, and thus implicitly emphasizing, these appearances as something already concretely looked at and felt. In short, to experience what cannot be experienced, to live the unlivable. Many of these technical observations made are pinned down analytically using concepts from the field of cognitive poetics, namely George Lakoff and Mark Johnsons findings of experiential image schemata underpinning spoken phraseologies and their influential theories on conceptual metaphors. The interpretative conclusion following these observations is that Jäderlund handles her writing aesthetically as a kind of sensory material in a very literal sense, a “being of sensation” in the terminology of French philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari. Not as means of experiential or intellectual representation, not as some sort of critical enterprise through mere language-gaming of free- floating signifiers – but as a material able to preserve and perform sensory processes immanent to its own material compilation, a tendency that earlier research fails to grasp or simply ignores altogether. Thus the affectivity immanent to the literary material – often being the starting point of studies in affect theory and cognitive poetics – is here proven to be a characteristic, thereby playing the role more of a conclusion than a field of inquiry. The aesthetics of interrogating the limits of sensory experience, introducing a sort of crisis to embodied perception through the experience of poetic language – and the experience of it as having a “metaphysical significance”, as French phenomenologist Maurice Merleau- Ponty puts it – is articulated in the thesis against the background of influential readings of modern art carried out by Merleau-Ponty and Deleuze.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study comprises a philosophical investigation into the development of a non-representational resistance against the State, with specific focus on the role of the imagination in both repression and the struggle for freedom. Using Deleuze & Guattari’s non-representasional ontology, the researcher argues that Deleuze and Guattari’s ontological system can be described as an ontological anarchy, which supplies us with tactics of resistance that strongly deviates from traditional Representational or Revolutionary models of resistance. Building on a discussion of Situationism and Hakim Bey’s T.A.Z, the argument is made that these non-representasional resistive tactics could ‘open’ the category of art up to a whole network of creative and life practices – a transformation that has the ability to free art as well as the everyday. In stead of refecting back on a supposed ‘background’ Reality, this resistance relies on the ontologically anarchic practice of reality production. The idea of the non-ordinary or peak experience, assosiated with sorcery, plays a crucial role in this production process, and the argument is made for the use the of these experiences to create a lasting peak experience, ultimately constituting a shared level of peak intensity between people that the researcher calls ‘the revolution of the imagination’. Key words: ontology, anarchy, anarchism, the State, resistance, revolution, imagination, complexity, ontology of art, poststructuralism, Representation, non-representationality, peak experience, sorcery, the everyday, Situationism, psychogeography, geophilosopy, phenomenology.

Derek Jarman’s Blue has a complicated reception and exhibition history. Stuck between his past representational queer cinema and the inability to represent the suffering and death from AIDS, Jarman crafted a film of radical stylistics. It is in Blue’s striking color that a transversality of form, sensation, and visuality occurs, and in so doing, produces a space for synesthetic affectivity and collective desire. This thesis will use those radical formal elements and the history of Jarman and Blue to position color away from the phobic tradition of color theory and towards a flowing site of political rupture.

This thesis investigates the theoretical and practical importance of nomadic ways of life for architecture. Nomadology is a construction of Deleuze and Guattari's 'counter-philosophy', challenging authenticity and propriety, in this case, in the context of architecture. This thesis describes how nomadology may serve contemporary architectural practice and criticism; challenging static, permanent, and heroically solitary ways of working and dwelling. Nomadology in architecture proposes ways for thinking and working temporally, dynamically, and collaboratively. The thesis suggests strategies - diagramming, ephemerality, movement, and collaboration - as ways of reconciling nomadism and architecture. The 'Contexts' section of this thesis surveys Western and global contexts of understanding nomads and nomadology, and how these pertain to architecture. Western conceptions of architecture have inhibited the study of nomadology in architecture. A case is made for challenging biases in Western views of architecture, for critically employing the ideas of the diagram and the rhizome in architectural criticism, and for recognising the role of movement. The 'Applications' section shows, through practical examples, that the potential of nomadology is latent in spatial and environmental practices of architectural production and architectural criticism. This section of the thesis identifies the significance of nomads as users and exponents of architecture, despite their frequent exclusion from architectural history. Tent architecture, practices of nomadic resistance and Bedouin life practices are considered as key examples. The 'Strategies' section suggests ways of applying principles of nomadology. This final section expands on the potential for 'peripatetic' practices of architecture. Processes of reconciling settled and nomadic tendencies in architectural projects are outlined. Strategies are described by which engendering and collaborating may be the means for creating architecture. The continuing research into, and interpretation of nomadology in architecture are proposed as a basis for critical theorisation and reflective practice of architecture.

Streszczenie:
As a feminist poststructural autoethnography of deafness in social work workplaces, this thesis sets out to map d/Deafness as a cracked subjectivity. Using the work of Rosi Braidotti and Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, I draw out configurations of d/Deafness as lack or cultural minority and split them apart. By positioning d/Deafness on a plane of immanence and employing specificity, I explore d/Deafness as a subjectivity constituted through space, place, time and encounters with other bodies. I argue that the constitution of material and cultural experiences of d/Deafness as specific allows for the articulation of spaces in between Deafness and hearing, disability and ability as spaces in and of themselves in order to think the new as well as to crack up fixed binaries informing traditional notions of what specific bodies can do.

Streszczenie:
ReFramingl comprises an introduction, five chapters and a conclusion. The introduction describes the inception of the project in a study of writing practices among a group of fiction writers, which identifies a process of self-transformation as an experience common to members of the group. Having identified this experience as the subject of study for a thesis, it gives a rationale for a choice of the work of poet and novelist Janet Frame, in that she enacts through her writing a process of subjective change that embodies the self-transformation identified as integral to creative practice. The introduction also signals the project of reading the work of Midhel de Certeau, and Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari alongside that of Frame, as theorists who offer approaches to understanding subjective trasformation. Chapter One places the work of Frame alongside that of the literary theorist and philosopher Michil de Certeau as a way of reading motivation in Frames's work. This chapter conducts a thematic survey of the novels' concerns with experiences of subjective confinement, using Certeau's figuration of language structures as sites of constraint and subversion, and linking Frame's response with Certeau's ideas of tactics and strategies. Chapter Two surveys the work of the philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari on processes of creative thought as they relate to narratorial practices in Frame's novels, and relates her project to their concept of becoming, via the genre of minor literature. The chapter presents an argument that Frame's writing enacts a double becoming in that her creation of altered subjective space for herself also creates possibilities of collective change. Chapter Three conducts a chronological survey of Frame's novels, identifying structural elements and linguistic approaches to the creation of altered subjectivity in writing. It treats Frame's body of work a written entity characterised by an elaboration of the procedures and concepts through which subjective change can be understood. Another movement of double becoming is presented in the movement by which the praxis of each successive book forms a "theoretical" base for further praxis in the work that follows. Chapter Four approaches the relation of a reading/writing collective to this transformative theorising of subjectivity through a writing practice. The chapter begins by considering ways in which Frame gives voice to the connection of writing to the collective, tracing her characters' articuilation of a responsibility to speak before those who have been unable to do so. It goes on to consider the reflex of this doubling of Frame's becoming, through responses of the collective to her work. Chapter Five comprises a collection of poems written as part of the thesis, enacting and meditating on ways my own theoretical and writing practices have modified one another in the process of thinking and writing. The poems are also a direct response to Frame's work, thus forming an extension of the previous chapter's considerations of collectivity in reading/writing. The conclusion summarises the movement of ideas throughout the thesis using Frame's references to-point of view as a structuring device.
