Streszczenie:
Motors powered directly from solar panels are becoming more and more popular in pump applications. However, solar panels can be the source of operational issues due to varying irradiance, ambient temperature, weather. This paper shows how it is worth expanding a solar induction motor drive to provide an uninterrupted flow of electricity to the motor. In addition, the main components of the uninterruptible induction motor drive are presented, including the LLC (inductor-inductor-capacitor) converter, the three-phase inverter, and the three-phase rectifier. LLC converters that can increase the voltage from 25–40 V to 330 V cannot be bought directly from manufacturers. Therefore, a custom LLC converter was made for the research. It was necessary to build a custom converter to avoid the use of solar panel strings. This way, solar panels connected in parallel can be used. A low-voltage (25–40 V) supply was implemented from the solar side, while the induction motor requires 230 V AC three-phase voltage in delta connection. For this reason, a voltage boost is required from the low voltage side. The grid feeds the universal DC link through the three-phase rectifier. This allows the motor to consume varying amounts of electricity from the grid or the solar panel. The study also presents in detail the LLC converter that performs the voltage boost. Measuring the entire motor drive, switching transients and efficiencies can be observed at different input voltages for different supplies as well as loads.

Non-linear loads connected to distribution system induce harmonics in to source components and the presence of harmonics in source components affects the performance of other sensitive loads connected at the same point. Induction motor load for drive system should be operated with variable frequency and variable voltage for its speed control. To vary the voltage and frequency, induction motor is fed from an inverter. This total drive set-up constitutes non-linear load type and will be the source of harmonics. This paper depicts the suppression of harmonics with STATCOM in distribution system when induction motor load is fed from SEIG (singly excited inductin generator). STATCOM is controlled with simple synchronous reference frame theory and the results are shown for source current, load current. THD in source current and load current was also shown for the said system. System for single-phase and three-phase induction motor drive was developed and results are shown using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

The problem of controlling a rigid manipulator driven by induction motors to follow a desired trajectory using the decentralized control technique is considered in this paper. Parameter uncertainties of the rigid robot are considered. First, a PI controller is used to force an induction motor to work in the current-command mode, then based on a fourth-order reduced model of induction motors, a current controller is proposed using only local measurements of each link (link position, velocity and stator currents of the induction motor). The rotor flux is estimated through a closed-loop observer. Provided that the flux observer is properly initialized, this controller is singularity-free and guarantees the uniform ultimate stability of the closed-loop system. Simulations are presented to illustrate the performance of this controller.

This paper analyzes the digital signal processing techniques and estimates induction motor (IM) rotational speed operating in stationary or non-stationary conditions. Rotor slot harmonics present in the stator current waveform are used to estimate the induction motor speed with a given or identified rotor slot numbers. This paper’s contribution is the following: First, zoom improved short-time Chirp-Z transform is used to find supply frequency and the rotor slot harmonic frequency to improve the estimation accuracy without increasing computing complexity. Second, a technique is described that can be used to determine whether or not a motor can generate principal slot harmonics (PSH). Finally, an algorithm is designed to figure out the perfect window length and estimate the motors’ speed. This proposed technique was investigated when the motor was fed by an inverter-fed supply driving a variable load and operating in non-stationary conditions. Experimental test results on 5.5 kW and 22 kW induction motors have confirmed the correctness of this method.

Abstract— An induction motors (IM) in many industries is used because it has several advantages, such as a very simple and strong construction, the price is relatively cheap, has good efficiency, power factor is quite good, and maintenance is easier. Besides the advantages of induction motors also have disadvantages, one disadvantage of induction motors is not being able to maintain a constant speed when there is a change in load. If the load changes, the speed of the induction motor will decrease. One method of regulating the speed of an induction motor presented in this study is the regulation of an induction motor using a carrier based PWM (CBPWM) inverter with the field oriented control (FOC) technique. The estimation of rotor rotation, torque and flux is done by carrier- based PWM technique which is given input voltage and stator current. To achieve the desired flux and torque, estimation is used as feedback in the control system. In this study, it will be simulated the induction motor speed regulation with a carrier base-based inverter using Matlab. The results obtained through simulation show the length of time to reach the reference speed for speeds of 1500 rpm and 1450 rpm is around 0.45 seconds. And THD average 2,675%.

The dynamic simulation of induction motor is one of the key steps in the validation of design process of the electric motor and drive system. It is extremely needed for eliminating probable faults beforehand due to inadvertent design mistakes and changes during operation. The simulated model gives encouraging results with reduced harmonics [1]. By using the model, the successful detection of stator inter-turn fault of the SCIM is carried out in the transient condition. Therefore, early stator fault detection is possible and may avoid the motor to reach in the catastrophic conditions. Therefore, may save millions of dollars for industries.

Induction motor parameters are essential for high-performance control. However, motor parameters vary because of winding temperature rise, skin effect, and flux saturation. Mismatched parameters will consequently lead to motor performance degradation. To provide accurate motor parameters, in this paper, a comprehensive review of offline and online identification methods is presented. In the implementation of offline identification, either a DC voltage or single-phase AC voltage signal is injected to keep the induction motor standstill, and the corresponding identification algorithms are discussed in the paper. Moreover, the online parameter identification methods are illustrated, including the recursive least square, model reference adaptive system, DC and high-frequency AC voltage injection, and observer-based techniques, etc. Simulations on selected identification techniques applied to an example induction motor are presented to demonstrate their performance and exemplify the parameter identification methods.

Induction motors are the most widely used electrical machines and the most popularly in the industrial applications, aerospace, and electrical vehicles or hybrid electrical vehicles. This celebrity of these machines because of some of their benefits such as: relatively low manufacturing cost, robust construction, moderate power factor, ability to operate in hostile environments, good reliability, and ease of control especially in the recent years. In fact, induction motors are the main component of many of these applications and they are used in the most of these applications with their power electronic drivers in order to control their speeds, torques, or control their starting conditions. However, these motors and their drivers may encounter several faults due to operating conditions. In fact, these faults are either due to the motor itself or due to its power electronic driver circuit. Therefore, this paper presents the performance analysis and simulation of a Sinusoidal pulse width Modulation (SPWM) inverter-fed three-phase induction motor under some fault conditions. Two different types of faults are studied and analyzed in detail. These faults were: driver single switch short circuit fault, and driver single switch open circuit fault. The motor currents and voltages at pre-fault and post-fault conditions are presented and investigated. In the two fault cases, the motor phase currents are changed and increased, but in different ratios, under same load conditions. Also, decreasing and oscillating in both motor speed and its developed torque are occurred due to these faults. The simulation and analysis results show that the single switch short circuit fault has the sever effect on the motor performance, therefore especial care should be taken under this fault conditions.

This article provides an improved fault-tolerant control scheme for inverter-powered induction motors. The proposed strategy addresses the cancellation of power switch failures (IGBTs) regardless of their location in a reconfigurable induction motor control. The proposed fault-tolerant topology requires only minimal hardware modifications of the conventional six-switch three-phase drive, mitigating IGBT failures through reconfiguration based on the substitution of an entire inverter arm. The detection mechanism is based on the tridimensional method from which a database will be used for the learning of the neural network. In this method, the current from the stator is used as input to the system, so access to the induction motor is not necessary.

This paper gives Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) for 3-phase 3-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter fed induction motor control. A conventional two level inverter with 3-phase system has been developed for induction motor control. When it is applied for high voltage and power applications, which increases the voltage stress across the switch and harmonic content in the output. So multilevel inverter is much suitable for induction motor control, which provides nearly sinusoidal output voltage and diminished harmonic content in the output. Also the stator current of induction motor is minimsed, speed and torque of induction motor controlled with appropriate switching NPC inverter using SVPWM method. The proposed system simulation are verified using matlab simulink.

Streszczenie:
Induction motor is the backbone of current industrial applications. Multiphase machines can handle high power application easily. With the use of five-phase induction motor, advantage of both multi-phase and induction motor can be achieved. This paper presents analysis of five-phase seven level-based Induction motor system fed by packed U-cell based inverter. Modelling of five-phase induction motor is done with the help of mathematical equations using d-q axis transformation. Inverter voltage output comes to be approximately sinusoidal with 18.07% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). Induction motor with specified parameters is simulated under no-load condition and attains steady state conditions after transient state.

Streszczenie:
Dual inverter fed induction motor drives provide more advantages in contrast with other multilevel inverter drives. Coupled PWM techniques provide good standard of output voltage than the decoupled PWM techniques for dual inverter configuration. In this paper analysis of open end winding induction motor by coupled random PWM signals and decoupled SVPWM signals was carried out. Induction motor by random PWM technique generate low acoustic noise and electromagnetic interference to near by systems. The performance evaluation of the drive wss implemented in MATLAB/simulink and the results were presented.

Streszczenie:
This paper presents dynamic simulation and control of stand-alone doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) loaded with 3-phase induction motors (IMs). The study reveals that direct on-line starting of large IMs causes a large voltage sag across the generator terminals as the starting current drawn reaches up to 8-9 times the rated load current. Traditionally, this problem has tackled by oversizing of the generator or employment of special starters, under the pretext of mitigating voltage sag. This work explores ways that the starting current can be reduced economically by applying constant V/f control side by side with indirect field-oriented control (FOC) applied on the rotor side converter of the DFIG. This methodology enables starting of larger IMs and mitigation of voltage sag that occurs during the start-up period. Two different rating of IMs loaded with speed-squared mechanical torque are mainly considered. Simulation results of the system behavior under study confirm the capability of the proposed control.
