Pełny tekst źródłaIn the field of education Plutarch is often regarded as a minor figure and his educational thought reduced to some pedagogical treatises influencing Western thought. However, our study of his educational legacy reveals a much larger and complex dimension. From the exploration of his educational heritage we draw some major concepts and practical outcomes emerging from some educational thinkers’ reading of the Lives and the Moralia. We attempt to build a coherent narrative from a corpus of educational texts influenced by the numerous interpretations of Plutarch, and contribute to the understanding of the mechanisms enabling the passing down of the transmission and invention of a great heritage, and draw the portrait of Plutarch as a living educational figure shaping our educational thought by his many lives. Our thesis questions the working model of the “paradigm shift” in history of education, which legitimates the originality of a “pedagogue”, and focuses instead on the “resonance” of a figure through time. Our research aim is then twofold leading to the definition of the figure of Plutarch as an educator and to the exploration of its reception

Pełny tekst źródłaAt the beginning of the nineteenth century, Harvard College, West Point Military Academy and other american institutions teaching, producing and diffusing scientific knowledge sought to reform and modernize their curricula which had failed to keep up with the developing needs of scholars, scientists and engineers. To achieve this, they broke withtraditional educatioanl practices informed by english contents, pedagogical methods and media of diffusion and sought inspiration from french textbooks and school structures. However, the introduction of these new practices represented a rupture in learning methods. To minimize this change, American mathematicians adapted french mathematics, making them more relevant to local uses. As a consequence, in the following decades the United States became the meeting and mixing place of two mathematical styles that barely interacted in Europe. These mutual transformations produced new and original knowledge, which had the potential to be communicated back to France in a process of backward circulation. The ongoing scientific exchange was enabled by the articulation of complementary activities of American institutions (universities, learned societies, journals) and also by diverse individuals at local and international levels. The contribution these librarians, booksellers, students and travelers made to the material process of the transfer of knowledge is highlighted in this thesis. This study of mathematical exchanges between France and the United States therefore investigates te building of mathematics as a discipline, by analysing multiple sources and historical approaches, in order to better understand the complex and interactive processes through which an American research and scientific curriculum emerged

Pełny tekst źródłaIn 1881, an atelier (studio) was founded at the École des Beaux-Arts in Algiers. Up until 1940, programs, concours, as well as judgments and rewards have depended on masters and local juries. From 1940, the atelier has been regional and included the bosom of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. This is the only structure belonging to the French colonial empire to have been granted this status. While the evolution of architectural and urban ideas in colonial Algiers was the subject of much research, the history of architectural education in this city has meanwhile remained unexplored. This thesis comes therefore to lift the existing veil around the pedagogical model developed in Algeria. It examines in particular the period between 1909 and 1962. These chronological limits correspond to both a period that is better documented and to two important moments for the architectural institution. Indeed, the year 1909 marked the appointment of the first French architect born in Algeria as the head of the architectural studio. This advent is the starting point for a more structured and better organized teaching of architecture. As for the year 1962, it signaled the end of the French presence in Algeria and the birth of the Algerian school. The interest is to place the education provided at the studio of architecture in Algiers in relation to the pedagogical system of the Beaux-Arts in Paris, and to replace it in the broader context of the emergence of an architectural identity that is specific to the colony. This research, which converge the history of architectural education in France and the history of colonization, is notably built on the following questions: what form has the teaching of architecture in Algeria taken during the colonial period? Was the transplantation identical to the pedagogical model introduced by the Beaux-Arts in Paris, adaptation or rebuilding? What part has the regional dimension taken in the architectural education disseminated in Algeria? Through a comparative analysis between the pedagogy disseminated in Paris and in Algiers, this research shows that a structure forming in the art of building is inseparable from the territory that houses it, the population that attends it, and the political and cultural environment that surrounds it. Furthermore, this thesis contributes to updating the cultural and professionals exchanges that operate between France and its colony

Pełny tekst źródłaThe issue of the German reception of Jean Cocteau opens a large space where he plays with identities which he systematically instrumentalizes for his “self-fashioning” (Greenblatt). In this perspective the thesis first procedes to the historical and analytical description of the criticism of Cocteau’s “poésie de théâtre” in Germany. Based on a large dossier of over 2. 000 press articles, the thesis gives a synopsis of several hundred theatratical productions in German language until the year 2000, and discusses, in its hermeneutical approach, the reasons for the changing reception. After an analysis of Cocteau’s writings about his own reception, the thesis then shows that the poet instrumentalizes and fashions this reception for occasional or permanent aims. On the systematical background of Cocteau’s poetics, the thesis reads the poet’s recurrent self-fashioning as the “persecuted poet” as a rhetorical strategy which constantly claims artistic originality and personal authenticity

Schelling in France during the 19th century, examining how this reception contributed to the development of a national philosophy. The stake is to connect the study of Schelling's philosophical reception with that of the formation of French philosophy. This work thus presents a Schellingian history of French philosophy, corresponding to the history of the constructions and uses of Schelling’s figure. It begins in 1801, with the publication of Charles de Villers' La Philosophie de Kant, which was the starting point of the introduction of Schellingian philosophy in France, as well as the emergence of the concern to (re)define a national philosophy. It ends in 1901, with the publication of the last text of Félix Ravaisson's, Le Testament Philosophique, which represents the last indication of the use of Schelling in 19th century French philosophy. This dissertation is divided into two parts that overlap chronologically. The first part focuses on the dissemination of Schelling's philosophy, i.e. the various ways in which his figure was constructed within the French philosophical landscape. The second part focuses on Schelling's naturalization, i.e., the ways in which his figure was used in the context of the development and assertion of a French philosophy, mainly by Cousin, Lamennais, Leroux and Ravaisson. Three main results emerge from this study: first, it allows us to envisage possible futures for Schelling's philosophy. Secondly, it offers alternative histories of 19th century French philosophy, which cannot be reduced to Comtien positivism or to the biranian spiritualism of Cousin. Thirdly, it allows us to question the meaning, relevance and stakes of the notion of “nationality” in philosophy

The first part analyses the translations of various books of guy de maupassant in different periods, from 1917 to 1985. His novel "deux amis" translated by hu shi in 1917 may be considered as the first introduced in china and li qing ya as the best chinese translator of maupassant whose role, personnality, number and quality of translations have been overhauled. The second part introduced the chinese appreciations and critics of maupassant's novels. A special emphasis has been put on contes et nouvelles choisis de maupassant which includes 63 novels translated and issued in two volumes with several reeditions. " la parure " and " mon oncle jules " are the most wellknown and appreciated. The third and last part aims at understanding the influence of de maupassant on the chinese litterature. A special attention has been put on the comparison between " une vendetta " and " boule de suif " on one side and the chinese plays " l'orphelin de la maison tchao " and " sai jin hua " on the other side. The last one specially draws clearly its inspiration from " boule de suif "

We will consider, among other topics, the horizons of expectation of early films: the illusion of defeated Death, film as automaton and the fear of the on-coming train. We will criticize the concept of apparatus when applied to that of spectatorship. Our primary objective is to analyze the transformation of decoupage during this period, in order to better understand how the language of institutional film was developed, if not crystallized. This objective cannot be reached without careful consideration of spectatorship from a diachronic perspective

Pełny tekst źródłaSmall ungulates (sheep and goat) display a seasonal breeding characterised by successive periods of sexual activity and sexual rest. During these two periods females are in two different physiological status: in sexual activity, the female ovarian cycle is active (oestrus) and ready for reproduction, whereas females are in deep anoestrus during the sexual rest period. In order to induce oestrus in female during the sexual rest periods, breeders are mostly using exogenous hormones. These hormones are less and less acceptable regardless to animal and consumer’s welfare. However, the perception of odours emitted by a sexually active male can reactivate the gonadotropic axis of anoestrus female in the late sexual rest period, leading in most cases to ovulation. This natural process is called “the male effect”. Ram and goat odours act as primer pheromones.Most of studies on male effect focused on the neuroendocrine modifications induced by the reception of male pheromones, but the plasticity of the olfactory system at the peripherical level was underestimated. Previous work of my research team has shown that in pig, the olfactory secretome (secreted proteome) is mainly composed of Odorant-Binding Proteins (OBP) isoforms generated by post-translational modifications, phosphorylation and glycosylation. The composition of this secretome is under hormonal control and depends on the physiological status of animals. The aim of my work is to determine whether the olfactory secretome of ewe and goat is also modified by endogenous factors (hormones) and exogenous factors (male odours), showing an adaptation of the sensory equipment of female. In a first step, we followed the same flocks of ewe and goat during several sexual cycles, and collected their nasal mucus by a non-invasive sampling method. The olfactory secretome of 3 females of each species was analysed by 2D-electrophoresis followed by high-resolution mass spectrometry. Our results suggest that the olfactory secretome profile and its composition is a marker of the physiological status, and constitutes a phenotype of the female receptivity. Furthermore, the males’ odours reception induces changes in the olfactory secretome, demonstrating that exogenous factors can modifies the olfactory equipment of females

The subtitle of the work –end user perception– reveals its empirical and experimental nature, our main goal being to empirically analyze the reaction of young people to some of the translation’s choices regularly adopted in dubbing animated films. Certain translation strategies and techniques may be used to reach or repel the audience: we will try to examine how they help understanding, make laugh or cry, and ultimately entertain the child.Nowadays, the only way to know if a children film is successful is by checking theaters’ box office and DVD, Blu-ray and VOD sales. In order to fill this gap, we have decided to perform an experiment with children which include the screening of some film clips dubbed in Spanish. Then, they have completed a specific questionnaire adapted to their cognitive development, which helped us to determine the information learned by the experience’s through the film. We thus seek to better understand the impact of the translation’s choices frequently made by audiovisual translators of animated films for children
La presente tesis doctoral centra su atención en el estudio de la traducción audiovisual, concretamente en el ámbito de la recepción del doblaje por parte de un destinatario final especial, el niño. El subtítulo del trabajo –un estudio de recepción– revela el carácter empírico y experimental del mismo, pues se pretende analizar empíricamente la reacción del público infantil ante algunas soluciones de traducción que se adoptan habitualmente en el cine de animación. El empleo de ciertas estrategias y técnicas de traducción pueden conllevar un acercamiento o alejamiento del producto al receptor, y no sabemos en qué medida éstas facilitan la comprensión, hacen reír o llorar y, en última instancia, entretienen.Hoy en día sólo podemos inferir el éxito de un largometraje para niños, y de su doblaje, a través de su recaudación en taquilla y de las posteriores ventas en el mercado doméstico de DVD, Blu-Ray y plataformas de vídeo por Internet. Con objeto de arrojar luz sobre este ámbito, se ha diseñado un experimento que muestra la reacción de los espectadores infantiles ante un estímulo audiovisual traducido, utilizando como sistema de evaluación un cuestionario adaptado a su desarrollo cognitivo. We tried to answer this question by consulting, firstly, didactic publications and, secondly, sixty foreign language users. The definition of "fluency" arrived at in this way distinguishes four levels f fluency. Each of them is marked by a series of conditions (or characteristics) describing the discursive, psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic competence of the speaker or hearer and their performance. We checked then to see if the definition given varied according to the age, occupation or nationality of the language users interviewed. In particular the definition given by the "linguists" and the Flemings varied in comparison with that of the "non-linguists" and of the Spaniards and the Americans. We then studied which factors can influence "fluency" in a negative or a positive way. Finally, we described, first of all, which language activities can help the learner to speak and to comprehend fluently and, secondly, when, how and by whom to evaluate fluency. All of these methodical proposals have been valued by a group of language teachers and learners

Pełny tekst źródłaThis work deals with the feasibility study of a radio architecture dedicated to mobile WPAN applications at 60 GHz and characterized by a low power consumption. Data rates of the order of Gbps, high compactness and low power consumption are obtained by co-designing the antenna and the front-end. Before proposing the architecture matching the specification needs, a preliminary study of the propagation channel at 60 GHz is made. The two main standards IEEE 802.15.3c and 802.11.ad the channel are studied. The analysis of a single-band architecture suitable for low-power systems shows a data rate limitation when directional antennas are used in the standard channel 802.11.ad. To address this problem, a multi-band impulse architecture MBOOK using a non-coherent receiver is proposed. This architecture allows high throughput with the use of four sub-bands. It also leads to a low power consumption through the use of a non-coherent receiver and a differential transmitter topology avoiding combiners. To validate the concept of the proposed architecture, differential antennas dedicated to the differential architecture are designed. Patch antennas excited by differential microstrip lines fulfil the needs of the specifications but occupy a large area. In order to miniaturize the antenna, slot-fed patch antennas are designed using two orthogonal linear polarizations excited by a pair of differential inputs. To achieve the high directivity required in LOS scenarios without using antenna arrays or dielectric lenses, metamaterials are used. The antenna measurement is based on the realization of a WR-15 waveguide-to-microstrip line transition to connect the antenna to the network analyzer. The differential measurement of the antenna patch exhibits a good agreement with the simulated results. The TriQuint's TQP15 technology is used to design the various circuits of the front-end. The emitter architecture is validated once the overall consumption has been evaluated. This work ends with an evaluation of the throughput of the system taking into account the influence of the antenna and the propagation channel. This evaluation shows the potential of the architecture in terms of high throughput. We finally propose an approach based on the LTCC technology for the antenna / front-end assembly

Pełny tekst źródłaThe thesis covers the way four Italian writers assigned to the Veristic period (namely Giovanni Verga, Luigi Capuana, Matilde Serao and Antonio Fogazzaro) were approached by the French and German literary systems, in a time period spanning from 1870 till 1914. Through an empirical analysis of a large number of periodicals we pursue the process of diffusion of their texts as well as the accompanying critical discourse. Included there are studies on diffusion of the wellknown theatrical piece Cavalleria Rusticana and the engagement of two mediators, Edouard Rod and Paul Heyse, which provides a deeper understanding of the function of the literary transfer. Further, the empirical part has a particular focus on the engagement of the two periodicals, i. E. Magazin für die Literatur des In- und Auslandes and Bibliothèque Universelle et Revue Suisse, analyzing their specific attitude about the Italian contemporary literature. The last chapter raises questions of taxonomy by evaluating if and how the Italian period name verism was accepted/rejected in the analyzed literary systems. The annex lists the results of the research i. E. Chronological tables of the translations and critical interventions, as well as the complete transcription of the manuscript correspondence between Giovanni Verga and his German speaking correspondents

Pełny tekst źródłaThe process institutionalising Zola, implying both a recognition of an official image and the labelling of a textual corpus should be considered, by examining school text books, history of literature books, essays and other critical studies, and readers' generations as reconciliation of metadiscourses and conciliation among several « horizons of expectation ». Semantic and formal linearities, stratifications, constellations are all different sides of the same reading object, i.e. the naturalistic text. This entity travels incessantly along a doubleway road through the paratext, an extension of the reading experience up to the peripherical text area : critical documents, sounds and images. From the semantic univocity, which was longly promoted at school level thanks to an intention-focused criticism, up to an overdestructuration sometimes leading to nonsense ; then, from the structural approach reacting against that historicity which atrophies sense and confines spontaneous reading up to a thematic approach liberating a whole world of symbols, Zola's text tends to reach its reader. Thus, we have tried to join his text all throughout this analysis. Indeed, we have simply observed, noted and attested. Pełny tekst źródłaArchitecture happens to be criticized for the uses it « produced » or it « forbid » (the general disapproval of the French « Grands ensembles » being one typical case). Sometimes the critic focuses fittingly on the gap between original intentions and the real effect (the « Grands Ensembles » were at their time supported by a humanistic enthusiasm). But the knowledge of such an intention is lacking and compels to lead this research.Design theories aim a certain intelligibility of the design process. However, it appears that the design explained by those theories is the one that designs the architectural artifact in its tangible and material aspects. But, taking interest in the “reception” of that artifact, the question to ask is whether we are able to know the design of ways of life, the inventions of uses and experiences… The frame of design sciences (H. A. Simon) imply to withdraw from approaches like usage studies and sociological points of view, since we focus on users that do not exist yet but are represented or anticipated. The concept of “conception of the reception” elaborated in this work means this uptake of the reality of the reception by designers’ cognition. Indeed, the phenomenon we aim to elucidate is a thinking process, a mind ability.This work defines two nested researches’ bodies: one being the French theory, “architecturology” (Ph. Boudon, Ph. Deshayes, C.Lecourtois), a case of a design theory which will be epistemologically and critically analyzed; the other one, the projects of Bernard Tschumi and Rem Koolhaas at for the La Villette park comptetition in 1982 which are cases of design processes. These design cases are the field where an architecturological study is applied.— The reason why architecturology is chosen, is that it takes the specificity of architecture into account, and that it is characterized by a formal construction, a generalization potential and a strong modelling capacity. Therefor it is taken as an advantageous field to study the capacity of a theory to state something about the architectural “conception of the reception”. Whatever, the methods is built in a generic way and could study other theories.— The park of La Villette projects are relevant to study as they both suggested particularly unexpected usages and met a social innovation program.The experimental device consists then in observing the theory by putting it in action on particular study cases. The modelling result of it allows evaluating the capacity of a theory to describe the “conception of the reception”. The result of this theoretical probation may open afterwards to a theoretical consolidation work
A volte l'architettura viene criticata per gli usi che ha "prodotto" o per quelli che ha "proibito" (un certo disconoscimento dei "grands ensembles" del dopo guerra francese è sintomatico). La critica riguarda spesso il divario tra l'intenzione originale e l'effetto realmente prodotto (i "grands ensembles" erano considerati all'epoca carichi di valori umanisti). La conoscenza diquesta intenzione è carente e richiede un lavoro di ricerca.Le teorie del design hanno lo scopo di fornire una certa intelligibilità del design stesso. Sembra però che l'attività progettuale spiegata da queste teorie si concentri essenzialmente sul prodotto architettonico nelle sue dimensioni tangibili e materiali. Quando invece ci si interessa alla Ŗricezioneŗ, è legittimo chiedersi se siamo in grado di conoscere la concezione degli stili di vita, l'invenzione degli usi e delle esperienze.... Il radicamento nelle scienze della progettazione (H. A. Simon) ci impone di distaccarci da approcci come la sociologia degli usi, poiché ci interessiamo a dei riceventi (o destinatari) che non esistono ancora e sono solo rappresentati o suggeriti. La nozione di "design della ricezione", elaborata in questo lavoro di ricerca, mette in luce la capacità dei progettisti di pensare la ricezione prima che accade. Il fenomeno che si cerca di spiegare è un processo del pensiero, una capacità mentale.Questo lavoro identifica due corpus intrecciati: da un lato, l' "architetturologia" (cf. Ph. Boudon, Ph. Deshayes, C. Lecourtois), un caso di teoria del design, di cui è possibile condurre uno studio epistemologico critico. Dall'altro, i progetti di Bernard Tschumi e Rem Koolhaas per il parco della Villette del 1982, inquanto esempi del processo di progettazione.Questi due esempi costituiscono un campo di applicazione per un'indagine architetturologica.- La scelta dell'architetturologia come esempio di teoria del design è motivata dal fatto che essa tiene conto delle specificità dell'architettura ed è caratterizzata da una costruzione formale, un potenziale di generalizzazione e una forte capacità di modellizzazione. Per queste caratteristiche essa ci offre la possibilità di studiare come una teoria possa esprimersi inmateria di "concezione architettonica della ricezione". Inoltre il metodo ha valore generale, tanto da permattere di analizzare altre teorie del design.- I parchi de La Villette di Bernard Tschumi e Rem Koolhaas sono rilevanti per lo studio poiché entrambi propongono funzioni singolari e rispondono a un programma di innovazione sociale.Il piano sperimentale consiste quindi nell'osservare la teoria, applicandola a dei casi particolari. Il modello che ne risulta viene utilizzata per valutare la capacità della teoria di descrivere il "design della ricezione". Il risultato di questo test apre quindi la strada a un lavoro di consolidamento teorico
Manchmal wird die Architektur für die Nutzungen kritisiert, die sie "produziert" oder "verboten" hat (eine gewisse Geringschätzung der "grands ensembles" der französischen Nachkriegszeit ist dafür symptomatisch). Manchmal geht es bei der Kritik gerade um die Kluft zwischen der ursprünglichen Absicht und der tatsächlich erzeugten Wirkung (die"grands ensembles" waren damals vom Humanismus inspiriert). Aber eine tiefere Erkenntnis dieser Zielsetzung fehlt und erfordert daher Forschungsarbeit.Gestaltungstheorien zielen darauf ab, eine gewisse Verständlichkeit des Entwurfprozess zu vermitteln. Aber es scheint, dass sich die durch diese Theorien erklärte Entwurfstätigkeit im Wesentlichen auf das architektonische Objekt in seinen konkreten und materiellen Dimensionen konzentriert. Wenn wir uns dagegen für die "Rezeption" interessieren, stellt sichdie Frage, ob wir den Entwurf von Lebensstilen sowie zukünftige Nutzungs - und Erfahrungsausgestaltungen erkennen können.... Die Verankerung in den Wwissenschaften vom Entwerfen (H. A. Simon) verpflichtet uns, uns von Ansätzen wie der Soziologie der Nutzungen zu lösen, da wir uns für Rezipienten interessieren, die noch nicht existieren und nur vorgestellt oder antizipiert werden. Das in dieser Arbeit entwickelte Konzept des "Entwurfs der Rezeption" bedeutet, dass sich die Architekten kognitiv die Realität der Rezeption zu eigen machen. In der Tat ist das Phänomen, das hier beleuchtet werden soll, ein Denkprozess, eine geistige Fähigkeit.Diese Arbeit definiert daher zwei miteinander verflochtene Korpusse: Einerseits ist die ŖArchitekturologieŗ (Ph. Boudon, Ph. Deshayes, C.Lecourtois) ein Fall der Gestaltungstheorie, die man einer kritischen epistemologischen Studie unterziehen kann. Andererseits sind Bernard Tschumis und Rem Koolhaas' Projekte für den Park von La Villette aus dem Jahr 1982 Beispiele für Entwurfsprozesse. Diese Entwurfsbeispiele sind ein Anwendungsgebiet für eine « Architekturologie-Studie ».- Die « Architekturologie » wird als Fallstudie in der Gestaltungstheorie gewählt, weil sie die Spezifität der Architektur berücksichtigt und sich durch eine formale Konstruktion, ein Verallgemeinerungspotential und eine starke Modellierungsfähigkeit auszeichnet. Allerdings ist die Methode auf eine so allgemeine Weise konstruiert, dass man auch andere Gestaltungstheorien damit untersuchen kann. - Bernard Tschumis und Rem Koolhaasř Entwürfe für den Park von La Villette sind für die Studie relevant, da sie beide besonders originelle Nutzungsmöglichkeiten bieten und einem gesellschaftlichen Innovationsauftrag Rechnung tragen.Das experimentelle Design besteht dann darin, die Theorie zu beobachten, indem es sie auf bestimmte Entwurfsbeispiele anwendet. Pełny tekst źródłaThe final version of the 25th chapter of Numbers must have appeared in Achaemenid Judaea around the late 5th century or early 4th century BC. Chapter 25 clearly illustrates a strong rejection of foreign groups as it voices the need for the Jews to severe ties with other nations so as to preserve an identity that seemed threatened with extinction at the time. What makes Numbers 25 powerful is the fact that it was based on the idea that God's wrath must be diverted at all costs. If such objective was indeed high on some of the priests' agenda, it also reflected wider concerns among the mainstream population. "Numbers- chapter 25" was to influence all the succeeding texts, whether in the Bible or others, in both Jewish and Christian traditions. The various interpretations of God's wrath mostly depended on those later versions' specific historical backgrounds. If the Sirach/ Ecclasiasticus cautiously advocated peaceful relations with strangers in the mid-2nd century BC, it was followed by the Maccabees' aggressive zeal for liberation that was to influence generations up to the 2nd century AD. That accounts for the eschatological dimension gained by Phinehas, the protagonist in Numbers 25, as he embodies the Jews' longing for the impending restoration of God's kingdom. The Jewish and Christian versions were then to evolve along two different directions after the 2nd century AD. While the Jewish tradition strove to curb such violence by laying the stress on a series of rules to follow, the Christian later versions of Numbers 25 rather focused on the moral plane to condemn extra-marital sexual intercourse

Pełny tekst źródłaIn digital mobile radio systems, the speech quality can be severly degraded if the channel decoder produces residual bit errors due to heavy burst errors on the radio path. On the other hand, in most speech coding schemes some residual redundancy remains because of complexity and delay limitations. A solution for improving the speech quality consists in using a priori information based on source residual redundancy at the receiver side. In one approach, a priori information is used at the source decoder to perform optimal estimation of transmitted codec parameters. In another approach, a priori information is used at the channel decoder in oder to minimize the residual bit errors rate. We study both approaches and apply them to the GSM EFR. At the speech decoder level, we model the residual redundancy of speech codec parameters by using Gaussian mixtures. This model reduces the complexity when compared to state-of-art methods and provides a better representation of residual redundancy. At the channel decoder level, we introduce an efficient method to exploit intra-frame bit redundancy during the channel decoding process. In this method, the value of the bit being decoded is predicted from the bits already decoded along the treillis path. These methods are evaluated on simulations of radio transmission by an objective measure of speech quality. In all cases, the performance of the speech decoder using our residual redundancy model turns out to be better than the GSM EFR decoder with standard error concealment procedure. The performance of the channel decoder using residual redundancy is strongly dependent of the index assignment used by the quantifier

Considering that the doctrine contained in this Aristotle’s work is difficult to interpret in a systematical approach is inevitable that its progressive reception would have been guided by metaphysics and epistemological questionings, partially shared by these authors. The present research is an attempt to track down these questionings, with the objective of proposing a systematic reconstruction of the theory contained in the commentaries of the Posterior Analytics during that period. This systematic reconstruction offers a unified vision of the aspects assessed in this investigation. This due to the identification of a general question which would determine the orientation of specific ones. Thomas Aquinas is the author about whom most of the analyses are focused. But always considering the aim of comprehending questions which guide all this tradition of comments, two other comments have been studied: Robert Grosseteste and Alberto the Great. The thesis proposed is that the Posterior Analytics’ reception during the 13th century, reflects an attempt to answer the following question: which characteristics must a perfect knowledge possess? In accordance with this thesis, the doctrines developed in commentaries regarding this Aristotle’s work did not seek to propose a method of true knowledge of reality. The properties of a demonstration, regarding its shape and content of the propositions that compose it, would describe an ideal of perfect knowledge

Although reading the novel threatened to be prohibited when it was first published in 1857, it progressively became mandatory in French studies in French high schools and at French universities and Anglo-American universities. The thesis explores the « classicisation » process of the novel as well as the reception of its principal character by three interpretive communities: journalists and critics who were Flaubert’s contemporaries, French and Anglo-American academics between the sixties and eighties, and high school French students in 2016. The work thus examines the making of dominant interpretations and the dynamics of identifications at play in relation with the aesthetics of the author. Readers discourses are indeed shaped by self-legitimation purposes and by the universal « differential valency of genders » that Françoise Héritier conceptualized. Masculine reading is thought to be the template of « good » readings of the novel, while all readers’ demeanours perceived as « feminine » are invalidated. This situation results in a specific framing of pedagogical expectations, expectations of which the thesis intents to decipher the assumptions and effects on French high-school readers.To do so, the researcher used a variety of methodologies. She analyzed articles published in newspapers when the book was first published as well as the judiciary speeches and texts written during the trial of Madame Bovary. She also analyzed academic papers and structuralist, post-structuralist, reader-response and feminist theories. She used literary close reading to understand the aesthetics of Flaubert and confront his writing to the reactions of his readers. Finally, she gathered and analyzed empirical data through a survey, reading diaries and interviews with a class of French high school students.This thesis therefore belongs to the field of cultural studies, in the sense that it uses various academic approaches to understand a cultural object and its effects on its readers and because it tries to shift the epistemological viewpoint from which a classic such as Madame Bovary as been examined in Western culture

Pełny tekst źródłaThe reformist model of the English Constitution was intellectually predominant in nineteenth century France. As a synthesis of French yearnings for political stability, this representation historicises the liberal achievement of representative government and endorses the legitimacy of innovation through custom. It results from contradictory visualisations of the English Constitution. On the one hand, romantic liberals identify in its institutions the necessary elements to protect individuals from abuses of power and to allow the development of democracy. On the other hand, traditionalists perceive in England’s historical continuity the structuring benefits of social hierarchy and aristocratic freedom. More particularly, French Doctrinaires see through the morphology of the English civilization a society that secures freedom within order. French thinkers recognise in parliamentarism, as a product of England’s institutional evolution, the political regime capable of putting an end to French revolutionary tensions. As a mould that both liberates the energies of individuals and protects the political and social order, it renders the Head of State irresponsible and thus strips him of personal powers. Furthermore, it establishes the reign of public opinion through the superiority of the elected chamber and the recognition of government responsibility. Finally, it disciplines political action through the historical practices inherited from representative monarchy. Based on a political project, parliamentary government in France gives substance to a prudential philosophy of constitutional law. This philosophy views the constitution as an institutional framework within which political action must be able to adapt society to its historical phase of development. The laconism of the constitutional laws of the Third Republic reflects this constitutional reformism. Rather than a circumstantial political compromise, it crystallizes a liberal and conservative constitutional policy. The present study aims to show that it is the result of how the English Constitution has been modeled in France during the nineteenth century

Pełny tekst źródłaThe thesis on the intellectual reception of Joseph de Maistre in Russia is part of interdisciplinary studies. Oriented towards French literature, the history of ideas, and Slavic studies, it delves into the career of the Sardinian philosopher from his arrival in the Russian capital in 1803. A man of letters and a diplomat, he forged connections at the court of Alexander I, in the salons, through correspondence, and by sharing his works to selected readers. To analyze this period, two correspondences were chosen: with R. Sturdza and S. Uvarov. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the reception of Maistrian thought in Russia after his departure in 1817. Indeed, he influenced both Westernist philosophers, such as P. Chaadaev and V. Soloviev, who appreciated his Catholic and European thought, and the Slavophiles and traditionalists who sought a foundation for their conservative thinking in his ideas, like K. Leontiev. The third part of the thesis is devoted to the reception of Maistre in the 20th century, especially after the Russian Revolution of 1917. His counter-revolutionary thought took center stage and inspired the philosophers forced to leave their homeland, especially N. Berdyaev, who frequently cited Maistre. This reception is distinct in its blending of Joseph de Maistre's ideas with other, later concepts characteristic of 20th-century thought. The final chapter of the thesis discusses the publishing history of Maistre in the USSR, abruptly halted in the late 1930s. Focused on the reception of conservative thought, the thesis raises the question of the sources of neo-conservatism that currently dominates the Russian political field

In order to predict the tuner performance, the architecture has been validated using a theoretical model. The critical blocks of this architecture have been identified and designed on silicon. The system studies have yielded two important conclusions : Integrate the RF selectivity. Design a Harmonic Rejection Mixer. The system based on the LC tracking filter combined with the DC-DC converter is an excellent choice in terrestrial TV reception because of its performance in terms of selectivity and power consumption. Despite its expensive nature, this solution offers performances that are comparable to those of a conventional tuner. The harmonic rejection mixer is a main asset of the chosen architecture and enables the reduction of the constraints in terms of RF harmonic filtering

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis proposes to interrogate the educational and cultural education partners of the school on their potential role in the construction of social inequalities of reception of works in school context. This thesis effectively demonstrates the socially contrasting nature of the aesthetic receptions undertaken by middle school students from different socio-academic backgrounds. We are interested in understanding how cultural mediation practices can contribute to reinforcing or reducing these inequalities. This thesis uncovers the practices that contribute to "passive and active differentiations" between students to the detriment of the most fragile students. We propose to study these misunderstandings, to compare the reception of the song and the contemporary art in order to treat more generally the artistic reception in a transversal way but also in order to bring out specificities related to these two mediating objects. Our party is essentially focused on the study of the cognitive processes involved in the scholarly reception of works of art, and on the intellectual formation that it presupposes for their "enigma" and their analytic and problematized reading. More generally, our research work intends to participate in a reflection on the necessary conditions of a formation of the scholarly thought of the students of popular milieus by the school confrontation with works of art

Pełny tekst źródłaCe mémoire porte sur la réception par des hommes de publicités sociales développées dans le cadre de la campagne My Strength is Not for Hurting par l'organisme américain Men Can Stop Rape. Le but était de comprendre le sens qu'ils donnent à des messages publicitaires conçus pour les interpeller par une caractéristique traditionnellement associée au masculin afin qu'ils se mobilisent dans la prévention des agressions sexuelles. Le concept de genre, élaboré en référence au système normatif qui crée les sexes et les hiérarchise, les notions de masculinité hégémonique et de masculinités plurielles ont servi de cadre théorique à cette étude féministe, tout comme la réception médiatique. Les propos de sept hommes engagés politiquement ou socialement ont été analysés avec l'approche de la psychologie discursive en analyse de discours. L'analyse qualitative réalisée montre que les participants articulent une réception négociée du message publicitaire. Ils en captent le sens sans s'y identifier, critiquent le discours hégémonique sur la masculinité perçu dans le message publicitaire, et s'engagent dans un processus d'altérisation pour résoudre leur malaise à l'égard du viol en construisant une subjectivité masculine spécifique et opposée à celle d'hommes qu'ils considèrent à risque de commettre ce crime. Les rapports de pouvoir femmes-hommes sont évacués de la discussion, bien que les participants tiennent, hors de la discussion sur My Strength, un propos avisé sur la mobilisation des hommes pour prévenir les agressions sexuelles. Cette analyse qualitative met au jour le caractère pluriel et hiérarchique de la masculinité et l'obligation d'en tenir compte dans un processus de persuasion visant à mobiliser les hommes pour prévenir les agressions sexuelles. Elle souligne également la nécessité d'éviter la reconduction de la masculinité hégémonique dans les messages pour que soient mis au jour les rapports de pouvoir qui forgent l'agression sexuelle, enjeu dévoilé par le mouvement féministe.
