Supplier is part of the supplier chain that influences the development of a company. Problems that are often experienced by PT. PLN Engineering such as late arrivals and lack of quality equipment and stationery from suppliers, therefore it needs to be re-ordered or returned to suppliers, so that time is wasted. Storage of data on procurement of equipment and stationery that are still conventional so that it is not effective and efficient in terms of time, cost and energy, let alone supplier selection which is still subjective. The purpose of this study makes it easier for competent parties to make decisions at PT. PLN Engineering in selecting the best supplier to be consistent in maintaining the determined criteria so as to minimize the risk and not disappoint the company. Incorrect supplier selection affects the quality and costs incurred in buying equipment and stationery from suppliers, how to overcome them requires a decision support system (SPK) that is able to accurately select the most suitable supplier. The method of Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) combined with fuzification is the right method for evaluating the best suppliers. The most important criteria are Price of Goods, Quality of Goods, Delivery Time, Location Distance, Goods Packaging, Accuracy of Goods, Flexibility, Track Record. The conclusion of the test results is the SAW method is able to show that the ranking of the best suppliers with the highest value of 0.89 is UD. Bintang Mulia.

Streszczenie:
The development and installation of new process equipment in production plants typically require strong collaborative efforts by a process firm and its equipment suppliers. However, existing knowledge about how such supplier integration and open innovation practices should be organized and managed is scarce. The purpose of this investigation is therefore to explore how process firms can organize and manage supplier integration and open innovation practices when developing and installing new process technology. By means of a literature review and a case study of two process firms, a lifecycle perspective on procurement is adopted. Our results show that the process firms utilize different interconnected cooperative procurement procedures in different stages of the equipment's lifecycle, in order to enhance integration both in buyer-supplier dyads and among the suppliers in the project network. The contributions of the paper are summarized and illustrated in a developed lifecycle-based procurement model that guides practitioners in organizing and managing supplier integration and open innovation practices.

Streszczenie:
One of the most important attributes to manufacturing is product quality. It relates to the historical rejection rate during a period of time of the products delivered to the customer. Rejection is due to deviations from specifications in the raw material supplied by suppliers, process design, and the quality control of the manufacturing process. The non-conforming parts can be detected during incoming inspection or during work in process. With regards to this, the standardization and maintenance of process equipment are of prime importance in ensuring the quality of a process and the products that are derived. Cost is another important attribute of the product as it affects the bottom-line. In this regard the competence of the supplier of raw material to design, develop and launch products within specifications becomes imperative in a manufacturing process. In the current competitive environment, it is crucial to assess suppliers as good quality raw material are important in the development stage, as this can have an adverse effect on the customers response. Supplier flexibility involves the response time when engineering changes are needed during the development stage. As a result, research and development activities are used to initiate and measure the ability of the supplier to provide support during the process. It is an important attribute as most products, after launching, demand continuous improvement to remain competitive. Procurement of materials and equipment is considered the first step in supply chain management of many companies. It is also broadly known that the performance of suppliers directly influences the company’s efficiency and competitiveness. Supplier performance evaluation is a crucial process to identify strengths and weaknesses of suppliers which can help the company to manage them. There are various supplier performance evaluation methods. In this study process quality of the existing system of producing steel shafts for an automotive industry was first evaluated and based on this study the machine was recommended for upgrading by engineering design. This was due to the process capability analysis of the machine, which did not meet the stipulated standard of 1.3 for the machine’s capability index. Although, the raw material supplied by the suppliers were within the measured confidence interval, the summary reports did not meet the required standards. In order to develop a performance evaluation system of the suppliers of raw material to the company, four main-criteria, may be developed, namely: quality, delivery, service, and flexibility. Statistical analytical studies performed during the process on five selected suppliers of raw material showed that the most important criteria of the process metrics was machine performance, followed by quality of suppliers in terms of the supply of raw material. Based on this study, the relationship between the quality of the supplier, the performance of the machine and the specification to the consumer may be assessed.

Box Sterilization is an innovative product designed as a tool to sterilize equipment and objects to prevent the risk of transmitting Covid-19 through contaminated objects. The Box Sterilization product has components that must be supplied from the supplier. One of the components needed from the supplier is a UV lamp. Currently there are two suppliers of UV lamp suppliers, there are AHCD Medan and Toko Utako. The company must take a decision to determine which suppliers are included in the alternative selection criteria. The company determines three variables which are the atribute of the criteria, there are price, quality and service, while for the sub-criteria atribute there are 6 variables, there are price compatibility, shipping costs, conformity of supply to specifications, ability to provide consistent quality, delivery service and supply warranty. The decision making for the supplier selection is done by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach. The purpose of this study using the AHP method is for the company to be able to determine the priority of the attribute criteria, sub-criteria and alternatives to the selection of UV lamp suppliers for Box Sterilization. Based on data processing using AHP, it is found that the main priority for the criteria atributt is Quality, while the main priority for the sub-criteria atributt is the ability to provide consistent quality. Based on AHP analysis, it can be concluded that the most appropriate supplier of UV lamp suppliers for Box Sterilization is Medan AHCD supplier.

Traditionally, machine equipment manufacturers match new metalworking suppliers through yellow pages and websites, which is inefficient and not timely for supplier information transfer. In this article, a cloud-based supplier matching system is proposed to offer machine equipment manufacturers an efficient way to match suitable metalworking suppliers. A cloud architecture to enhance utilization of servers and simplified device management is designed. Two cloud services are designed in this system, including order-bidding service and order-cooperation service. A comparison result shows that the system can provide a flexible matching system for both metalworking suppliers and machine equipment manufacturers.

The purpose of the work is to study the properties and characteristics of the object of research - a diversi-fied enterprise, one of the main areas of its work is the design, production, modernisation, repair of con-struction equipment and machinery, and to offer approaches and tools to ensure product quality. To study the properties and characteristics of the enterprise, the requirements and conditions for organizing and con-ducting audits of product suppliers at a construction enterprise, including the delivery of the DRV-001 water dispenser spray, are considered. The goal of the requirements is to improve the quality of products and reduce their cost. Also it justifies the need for a risk-based approach in order to support the strategic level of construction enterprises management. A study of the capabilities and resources of the enterprise during the audit of suppliers was carried out. It is recommended to pay attention to the issues of minimising the cost of construction enterprises products, which is well linked to the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015. With a reasonable approach, this allows the supplier to provide key benefits. On the basis of the conducted re-search, it has been established that at the present stage of the industry development, using just “classical”, well-known standards, like ISO (GOST R ISO) of the 9001series, is not enough to ensure the required level of quality. To ensure high performance indicators of activity, the top management of the enterprise should pay considerable attention to the quality of the supplied products (services provided) from external suppli-ers. If this technique is adopted, the potential supplier would be able to minimise the cost of the produced components and to keep this competitive level within the specified indicators.

Chemical industry plays a pivotal role in the economy in every country. As chemical hazardous materials are usually characterized as inflammable, explosive, toxic, corrosive, and carcinogenic, if accidents happen in chemical company it can lead to irreversible environmental and health damage to the public. The chemical industry attaches great importance to safe production, technical professionalism, and service standardization. Nowadays, under the trend of equipment maintenance service outsourcing in chemical companies, the selection of maintenance suppliers with safe and sustainable records come first and foremost in the supplier selection process. However, these concerns from the chemical industry are currently inadequately addressed by most general supplier selection models. Therefore, this paper proposes an applicable methodology for selecting and evaluating equipment maintenance suppliers in the chemical industry, compatible with a safe and sustainable production context. To achieve the goal of “safe operation and sustainable development in the future”, we established an evaluation criteria framework for equipment maintenance suppliers by combining the general supplier selection criteria and safe production characteristics together. Eight main criteria and 24 sub-criteria based on market acceptance, resource conditions, and safe production were included. Then a fuzzy TOPSIS model was presented to select the best equipment maintenance service supplier. Finally, by analyzing a case in W petrochemical company, the empirical results indicate that the proposed framework is of great practical value to select and evaluate equipment maintenance suppliers for safety and sustainable development in the chemical industry.

Engineering equipment is essential part in the construction project and usually manufactured with long lead times, large costs and special engineering requirements. Construction manager targets that equipment to be delivered in the site need date with the right quantity, appropriate cost and required quality, and this entails an efficient supplier can satisfy these targets. Selection of engineering equipment supplier is a crucial managerial process .it requires evaluation of multiple suppliers according to multiple criteria. This process is usually performed manually and based on just limited evaluation criteria, so better alternatives may be neglected. Three stages of survey comprised number of public and private companies in Iraqi construction sector were employed to identify main criteria and sub criteria for supplier selection and their priorities. The main criteria identified were quality of product, commercial aspect, delivery, reputation and position, and system quality . An effective technique in multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) as analytical hierarchy process (AHP) have been used to get importance weights of criteria based on experts judgment. Thereafter, a management software system for Evaluation and Selection of Engineering Equipment Suppliers (ESEES) has been developed based on the results obtained from AHP. This model was validated in a case study at municipality of Baghdad involved actual cases of selection pumps suppliers for infrastructure projects .According to experts, this model can improve the current process followed in the supplier selection and aid decision makers to adopt better choices in the domain of selection engineering equipment suppliers.

Purpose Although prior research provides evidence that production ramp-up is often disrupted by supplier-related problems, it fails to discuss how the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and various types of suppliers integrate their functions and operations to secure preparations for production ramp-up. The purpose of this paper is to investigate OEM–supplier integration in a new product development (NPD) project to prepare for production ramp-up. Design/methodology/approach The results presented in this paper are based on a real-time, longitudinal study of a single collaborative NPD project in the mechanical engineering industry. The NPD project involves seven suppliers and it is carried out in a large Swedish company (the OEM) and fits the theory-elaborating approach of this research. Findings This study argues that the aspect of timing in OEM–supplier integration, the OEM’s research and development (R&D) attitude toward collaboration and the OEM’s (R&D) operating procedure are challenges affecting the preparation for production ramp-up. The following three mechanisms to facilitate OEM–supplier integration in order to prepare for production ramp-up are also discussed: the mediator’s role, the OEM’s face-to-face meeting at the project level and suppliers’ formal face-to-face meetings with the OEM and internally. Originality/value This paper elaborates on and extends prior research on production ramp-up by conducting an empirical analysis that incorporates supplier integration in NPD. It bridges the gap between the literature on production ramp-up and on supplier integration in NPD and clearly indicates that supplier integration is an important prerequisite for successful production ramp-up.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to describe the underlying design information and success factors for production equipment acquisition, in order to support the design of high-performance production systems. Design/methodology/approach - The research strategy employed was an in-depth case study of an industrialization project, together with a questionnaire of 25 equipment suppliers. Findings - The study provides the reader with an insight into the role of design information when acquiring production equipment by addressing questions such as: What type of information is used? How do equipment suppliers obtain information? What factors facilitate a smooth production system acquisition? Research limitations/implications - Limitations are primarily associated with the chosen research methodology, which requires further empirical studies to establish a generic value. Practical implications - The implications are that manufacturing companies have to transfer various types of design information with respect to the content and kind of information. More attention has to be placed on what information is transferred to ensure that equipment suppliers receive all the information needed to design and subsequently build the production equipment. To facilitate integration of equipment suppliers, manufacturing companies should appoint a contact person who can gather, understand and transform relevant design information. Originality/value - External integration of equipment suppliers in production system design by means of design information is an area that has been rarely addressed in academia and industry

This thesis examined the 'recoil' effect of the ice hockey stick shaft during a stationary slap shot. Nine subjects were tested. Four were classified as 'elite' and the remaining five as the 'recreational' group. Their performances were evaluated by simultaneously recording stick movement and bending from high-speed video capture (1000 Hz) and puck acceleration from a triaxial accelerometer positioned inside the puck. Data were analyzed with a one-way ANOVA for several dependant variables including final puck velocity, stick shaft bending, blade-puck contact time and stick kinetic energy. The results indicated that: (1) the puck velocity was influenced by skill level, blade-puck contact time and stick bending energy but not puck acceleration. Further studies are needed to address the influence of events before and after blade-puck contact as well as the strength of the player on the mechanical energy and impulse given to the puck.

Ice hockey facial protectors are essential to prevent eye and dental injuries but must also not encumber vision and, in turn, players' performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three different facial protection conditions on response time (RsT) and kinematics in a goal directed pointing task: helmet (control), visor, and cage. A 13 light target array and six-camera Vicon Mx system were used to collect response time and kinematic data. Subjects recruited were 16 male and 12 female varsity ice hockey players (n=28). Results demonstrated that although kinematics remained largely unaffected, throughout the visual field test RsT increased significantly with the cage (23 ms) as well as delayed head movement for both the visor (14 ms) and cage (18 ms). These differences may well represent a functional disadvantage to a player's performance given the dynamic, open environment where multiple players contest for puck possession. In summary, further research is warranted to achieve both optimal performance and safety.

Streszczenie:
This work covers a reassessment of the 'Hot Break' separation problem by a mechanical engineer from outside the brewing industry. The solid-liquid separation problem was therefore investigated without prior knowledge of constraints or current practices. During the brewing of beer an unwanted, insoluble precipitate, 'trub' is formed, reported to have undesirable effects on the finished beer quality. The existing equipment, 'whirlpool' separators, designed to eliminate this 'trub' performed poorly, allowing much of the precipitate to be carried over to subsequent processes. To remedy the problem, a program to either: 1. design suitable replacement separators or; 2 • modify existing separators to enhance their performance, was pursued. To evaluate possible alternative separators determination of the relevant physical (solid, liquid) properties, measurement of the process parameters at peak production, and review of the chemical constraints was necessary. Performance of the current whirlpool separators was ascertained to establish the extent of the ~xisting problem. Existing efficiencies set a benchmark for comparison against proposed alternatives. Through exhaustiv~ literature review, consultive advice, a series of experiments and rig testing, an extensive range of separation techniques was evaluated, A review of over forty-five reports on whirlpool performance and design practices, the majority of which being the basis of doctoral dissertations, combined with the evaluation of a third whirlpool at Milton Brewery revealed whirlpools to be the most suitable and logical choice. It seemed that the inherent problems in whirlpool design stem from the haphazard approach adopted by the brewing industry. To redress this problem an exp~rimental program to optimize whirlpool tank geometry and operation was initiated. Both experimental and hardware design were fundamentally different to all previous endeavors to establish whirlpool design guidelines. A pilot plant was designed and commissioned such that direct measurement of the 'whirlpool' response independent of other secondary effects was possible. The experimental program produced · over two hundred comparative whirlpool indices over a range of geometric and operational configurations. These suggested that whirlpool performance could be optimised in shallow vessels using low inlet velocities. Finally, the need for secondary separators to be used in conjunction with whirlpool tanks would diminish with improved primary separation.

Abstract An outdoor electronic equipment is under consideration. In order to attain the desired system performance and reliability, the junction temperature of all electronic components and the base plate temperature of the power supply under the worst environmental conditions must be kept below 105°C and 85°C, respectively. A system level transient analysis is performed to determine the temperatures of the internal air and the power supplies which are mounted to the internal structures of the system. The transient is caused by the daily cycle of ambient temperature and solar flux. The internal air temperature and the base plate temperature of the power supply are computed for a 24-hour period. The above thermal design limits are met with the computed internal air temperatures and flow rates.

Abstract The scope of this work is to present the main results obtained with the interfaces standardization on Wet Christmas Trees (WCTs) and its Electrohydraulic Multiplex (EHMUX) Subsea Control Systems in pre-salt scenario, in Brazil, which completes more than 10 years since their first installation. This work also presents how much the standardization of interfaces reduced the OEM (Original Equipment Supplier) dependance, how it helped to mitigate field operational issues, and how new opportunities of broader applications are being pursued in recent projects. The WCT-interfaces standardization has been developing in Brazil since the beginning of the 90's, where Pre-Salt WCTs is the last generation. A review of the cases where this standardization succeeded was made, allowing the demonstration of its value to mitigate suppliers’ delays, to minimize cost in projects’ implementation, to increase flexibility and to overcome o perational issues faced in the field. Several examples of successful cases were found where standardization helped to mitigate issues in delivery schedule, changes in projects schedule and scope, and equipment failures faced in the field. Statistics have been carried out on this data showing estimated gains obtained. Additionally, for global service-only contracts with tools owned by the operator, to project-oriented services and tools availability contracts, the interchangeability level provided by the standardization became much more relevant, since it opens more alternatives for services’ contracting, from the OEM or other suppliers. Some challenges to become completely independent of OEM were identified and will be presented in this paper, as well as different scenarios where the standardization application is wider or narrower. Some opportunities were identified in recent projects, fostering new equipment suppliers, softening the transition to next equipment generation from the same supplier and enable the use of all-electrical shared actuation systems in subsea manifolds connected to WCTs from a different supplier. Besides, this paper discusses on the main achievements obtained with the philosophy of standardization of the EHMUX-type Subsea Control System (SCS) for WCTs and subsea manifolds, also standardized for applications of the Brazilian pre-salt, which in 2023 completed 10 years since the first installation of the combination of standardized SCS and WCT, in the Sapinhoa field. The use of this standardized SCS allowed full operational interchangeability between SCS equipment and both the Brazilian pre-salt standards of WCTs and subsea manifolds, supplied by the main vendors of subsea equipment. The standardization of the SCS has also been helping to deal with operational problems that arise during the productive life of fields, minimizing the number of failures and their related costs.

Streszczenie:
There are many electronic equipments are cooled by forced cooling airs. Some equipment’s forced cooling air is supplied by air ducts, where air blower is located at a distance. In many cases, when the remote blower is out of order, the buoyancy of heated air cannot generate enough pressure to overcome the long air ducts and the blower. There is no air flow at all through the normal cooling air duct. That is called loss of cooling thermal condition. Loss of cooling condition is usually the worst case thermal challenge. In aerospace applications, most forced convection cooled electronic equipments need to meet the loss of cooling operation requirement. During loss of cooling, the electronic equipment needs to obtain cooler ambient surrounding air from a different inlet other than the supply air inlet. However, the passive cooling air inlet cannot interfere with the normal cooling situation. In normal cooling situation, forced cooling air is provided to lower the electronics temperature to a level of meeting the mean time between failure (MTBF) requirements. This paper will discuss a few trade studies of how different design approaches meet this loss of cooling air challenges; present a detailed CFD calculation of one of the design options. Many other considerations are also to be presented other than just thermal design concerns.

Streszczenie:
This paper is focused on one important direct consequence of economic sanctions introduced in 2022: namely, on the necessity to change the suppliers of raw materials, components and equipment in Russian manufacturing firms that historically had long-term cooperation ties with the partners from Europe. The main goal of the paper is to investigate the immediate response to the break of contracts and cooperation agreements, namely, (a) what firm-specific features are associated with the managerial decision to change the suppliers, (b) what is the scale of import substitution and (c) what is the geographical structure of new cooperation partners. This study is based on the results of the representative survey of 1860 Russian manufacturing firms. It was conducted with CEOs in 2022 and covers firms with more than 10 employees. The survey reports the information on a variety of firm characteristics such as size, age, location, ownership, international trade, cooperation ties, investment and innovation, etc. We provide the empirical evidence that sanctions shock of 2022 turned out to be extremely painful for the current supply structure and forced enterprises to look for solution to compensate for gaps in cooperation chains. We tested several hypotheses to identify those characteristics of the company that are associated with the reconfiguration of suppliers of raw materials/materials, parts/components or technological equipment. In the econometric analysis, we use probit regression controlling for firm size measured as number of employees, industry heterogeneity and regional territorial effects. Our finding confirmed that it was systematic importers who turned out to be the most vulnerable and affected group because of the imposition of sanctions, and it was this group that began to actively seek a replacement for contractors who had cancelled cooperation. The most technologically advanced firms and active innovators were found to be in the group of those who immediately replaced suppliers in the first months after the imposition of sanctions. Another finding is a significant positive role of the supply chain digitalization. We have shown that it was European suppliers that Russian firms most often changed in 2022: 80% of firms that changed foreign suppliers indicated Europe as the region of previous supplies. At the same time, in 2/3 of cases, the reason for the replacement was the unilateral refusal of the partner from further deliveries – i.e. the replacement was forced. This was only partially offset by switching to Russian suppliers, although it should be noted that the share of such replacements (from a foreign supplier to a domestic one) turned out to be higher than expected. According to indirect data, enterprises managed to find an alternative within Russia for 30-40% of European partners but most of the changes in the network of foreign suppliers were not related to import substitution as significant part of the imports have switched to China.

Streszczenie:
In current supply chain operations, the transactions among suppliers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are sometimes inefficient and unreliable due to limited information exchange and lack of knowledge about the supplier capabilities. For the OEMs, majority of downstream operations are sequential, requiring the availabilities of all the parts on time to ensure successful executions of production schedules. Therefore, accurate prediction of the delivery times of purchase orders (POs) is critical to satisfying these requirements. However, such prediction is challenging due to the suppliers’ distributed locations, time-varying capabilities and capacities, and unexpected changes in raw materials procurements. We address some of these challenges by developing supervised machine learning models in the form of Random Forests and Quantile Regression Forests that are trained on historical PO transactional data. Further, given the fact that many predictors are categorical variables, we apply a dimension reduction method to identify the most influential category levels. Results on real-world OEM data show effective performance with substantially lower prediction errors than supplier-provided delivery time estimates.

Streszczenie:
Many developing countries have adopted the market approach for expanding the supply of child care, but little is known about the economic behavior of independent providers. This paper draws on uniquely rich administrative data on child care centers and their inputs from São Paulo to examine the role of local household income in shaping the entry and quality choices of private suppliers. It documents three main facts: (1) entry rates are considerably higher in high-income districts; (2) the quality of provision as measured by teachers¿ schooling, group size and equipment is highly heterogeneous across space and increases systematically with local household income; and (3) a considerable share of centers operates below recommended (but not regulated) quality standards, especially in low-income districts. These findings accord with a model in which heterogeneous providers optimally adjust the quality of care to the willingness to pay for quality of local consumers. Market-driven heterogeneity in the quality of provision across space is a key consideration for understanding the effect of regulations on the supply of child care.
