Streszczenie:
Collective behaviour in living systems is observed across many scales, from bacteria to insects, to fish shoals. Zebrafish have emerged as a model system amenable to laboratory study. Here we report a three-dimensional study of the collective dynamics of fifty zebrafish. We observed the emergence of collective behaviour changing between ordered to randomised, upon adaptation to new environmental conditions. We quantify the spatial and temporal correlation functions of the fish and identify two length scales, the persistence length and the nearest neighbour distance, that capture the essence of the behavioural changes. The ratio of the two length scales correlates robustly with the polarisation of collective motion that we explain with a reductionist model of self–propelled particles with alignment interactions.

Purpose This paper aims to reveal the effects of an organisation’s bargaining power on its negotiating behaviours (including integrating, obliging, compromising, dominating and avoiding) in the context of inter-organisational conflict in construction projects and investigate how organisational power distance orientation moderates the relationship between the organisation’s bargaining power and its negotiating behaviours. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted a questionnaire survey among practitioners in the Chinese construction industry with the final sample consisting of 219 responses. A structural equation model was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. Findings The results reveal that an organisation’s bargaining power is positively associated with dominating and integrating behaviours but negatively associated with obliging and avoiding behaviours. Additionally, bargaining power is found to be negatively associated with compromising behaviour when the organisation has a high power distance orientation. Finally, a higher degree of power distance orientation strengthens the positive effect bargaining power has on dominating behaviour. Practical implications The findings can help practitioners to predict the negotiating behaviours of a counterpart according to its bargaining power and the power distance in its organisational culture. This can then enable practitioners to adjust their strategies accordingly and steer the negotiations towards a win–win outcome. Originality/value This study applies the approach-inhibition theory of power to inter-organisational negotiations and empirically tests the relationship between an organisation’s bargaining power and its negotiating behaviours in the context of construction projects. Additionally, this study reveals that organisational power distance orientation moderates this relationship.

Alumina nanofluid has unique thermo-physical properties which make it appreciable as thermal fluid, but its high extinction coefficient is not significant enough for making it a good solar irradiation absorber. The investigation was conducted on 0.05% v/v water-based alumina nanofluid and results showed that the nanofluid is able to attenuate approximately 50% of solar energy irradiated on the earth surface. Enhancement in absorption coefficient is found very little to increase absorptivity of basefluid using Rayleigh approach. It is found that the scattering coefficient of alumina is dominating absorption coefficient. Although high value of extinction coefficient is observed as usual, scattering is found responsible for this high extinction. The Rayleigh approach cannot explain the optical behaviour of the nanofluid and dominating scattering behaviour points toward alumina nanofluids’ weak capability as radiation absorber.

The article deals with the problem of analysis of the factors that influence the behaviour and decision-making of consumers when buying beverages. The analysis was based on data about consumer behaviour obtained within the period of 1993–2004. The secondary analysis involved data collected within the framework of a marketing research project SHOPPING MONITOR performed by the marketing agencies INCOMA Research and GfK Prague in years 1999–2002. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that hypermarkets were dominating not only as a place of purchasing foodstuffs in general but also as a leading outlet for sale of beverages. Czech consumers preferred Czech brands of beverages and there was a new trend in increasing purchases of tea, juices and mineral water on the one hand and coffee and wine on the other. This indicates a change in consumption habits and reflects an interest in a healthier life style.

Foreign labours workforce has long been dominating the Malaysian construction industry at the operational level as numerous occupational safeties literatures have reflected most of construction accidents are caused by poor human behaviours. Undeniably, the existence of proper safety behaviour would influence good safety compliance among the construction foreign labours. The purpose of this study is to examine the key issues affecting the safety compliance behaviour enhancement of construction foreign labours in the Malaysian construction site. For the present research, nine case studies were conducted by using semi-structured interviews to obtain data from the informants who are mainly site safety personnel. These personnel were working very closely with the construction foreign labours. The findings of this research reveals that there are five key issues that would influence the safety compliances enhancement among the foreign labours: (1) Emotional evoke, (2) Leader as example, (3) Forerunner within the same ethnicity, (4) Supervision execution and (5) Safety prioritisation. Therefore, these key issues have proven that there is a significant relationship between the workers' behaviours and consequences of an act.

AbstractThere has been little ecological and evolutionary research on learning in the context of sexual behaviour in insects. The traditional views still dominating the literature are that insects are short-lived and have little opportunity to learn about courtship and mating. In this paper I challenge these views by illustrating, theoretically, that at least some insects have ample opportunities to learn in the context of sexual behaviour and that such learning may be beneficial. Some of the best empirical evidence for learning about sexual behaviour in insects is reviewed and future directions in this fruitful area of research are suggested. The role of learning in insect sexual behaviour has probably been underestimated. Such learning may have had an important effect on sexual selection and incipient speciation.

AbstractThe literature on challenging behaviour is large, with heavy emphasis on behavioural approaches. In recent years more attention has been given to the effect of psychiatric illness on the behaviour of people with intellectual disability. However, theoretical differences between disciplines can lead to one or other approach dominating the assessment process. Increasingly, functional assessment is receiving attention as an assessment approach by both psychiatrists and psychologists. When used properly it can give a holistic overview of the individual and their behaviour, allowing a team approach to assessment and treatment that ensures the consideration of all possible psychiatric/medical/behavioural/environmental possibilities (a bio-behavioural model) in the aetiology and maintenance of challenging behaviour. This case study illustrates the effectiveness of teamwork in this area using functional assessment as a tool. The case also illustrates the possible futility of such comprehensive assessments of challenging behaviour in the absence of appropriate resources to implement the recommendations of such an assessment.

40% Pt on carbon black was used to make various inks. Compositions were altered by changing the organic component (2-propanol vs 1,2-¬propanediol), the liquid to solid ratio, and addition of Fullerenes to alter electronic properties. Inks were printed onto Nafion® or bond paper substrates using a Presco screen printer. The inks rheological properties were thoroughly characterized, and screen printed electrodes were characterized using optical microscopy, and hall measurements. Ink formulation had a major effect on final film morphology, with high water ratio formulations optimum for the Nafion® substrate and low water ratios ideal for bond paper. The final film integrity influenced sheet hall coefficients with p-type carriers dominating inhomogeneous films, and n – type carriers dominating well formed films. However hall mobility did not correlate with film thickness. Rheological studies showed that increasing the solid ratios and changing the solvent increased the viscosity, and the storage modulus (G') of between 84 and 224 and viscoelastic behaviour of inks correlated with good print quality.

The present study concerns the modelling of the behaviour of pre-impregnated woven fabric during the forming process. The mechanical approach is based on a mesostructural model. It allows us to take into account the mechanical properties of fibres and resin and the various dominating mode of deformation of woven fabrics during the forming process. Shear and tensile tests of composite fabric specimens are proposed and compared with the experimental results in order to demonstrate the efficiency of our approach. Different numerical simulations and experiments of shaping process have been carried out in order to validate the proposed computational formulation. The various forming parameters examined have included the initial shape of fabric, fibre orientations and viscosity of resin.

1. INTRODUCTIONLike in most European countries, unemployment in Holland has increased considerably in the past ten, fifteen years. This phenomenon is of major concern and warrants explanation. This paper sets out to explain employment and unemployment in a small open economy with powerful trade unions. It provides a framework in which various essential features of a small open economy, like Holland, are imbedded. World trade is a dominating factor on the demand side, whereas unions and long-run labour supply are dominating factors on the supply side. The various instruments the government has available (tax rates, levels of benefits, investment subsidies, public sector expenditure and employment) affect both sides of the economy. The investment behaviour of firms is an important link between present and future. The formal framework developed in this paper consists of a model with a well developed supply side and a demand side. The supply side is built around rums engaged in monopolistic competition. This provides a role for demand. The firms take the wage rates and aggregate demand as given when deciding on their labour demand and investment decisions.

We explore the dynamics of a periodically driven Duffing resonator coupled elastically to a van der Pol oscillator in the case of 1 : 1 internal resonance in the cases of weak and strong coupling. Whilst strong coupling leads to dominating synchronization, the weak coupling case leads to a multitude of complex behaviours. A two-time scales method is used to obtain the frequency-amplitude modulation. The internal resonance leads to an antiresonance response of the Duffing resonator and a stagnant response (a small shoulder in the curve) of the van der Pol oscillator. The stability of the dynamic motions is also analyzed. The coupled system shows a hysteretic response pattern and symmetry-breaking facets. Chaotic behaviour of the coupled system is also observed and the dependence of the system dynamics on the parameters are also studied using bifurcation analysis.

The presented article belongs to the research school of sustainable development economics as a relatively new science discipline within the broader area of heterodox economics. This paper is based on literature studies of homo concepts in economics, sociology and psychology. It identifies a research gap in sustainable economics, especially in sustainable energy management, formulating a novel concept of an economic man involved in energy management called homo energeticus. Homo energeticus concept is verified by empirical evidence at a local level-quantitative research conducted on a sample of 500 households in Lower Silesia region in Poland. The research’s first objective is to build the original author’s methodology on which the shift patterns from homo oeconomicus (neoclassical economics) to homo sustinens (sustainable economics) may be presented and may be used by scientists worldwide. After preparing a method for identifying concept, the second goal is to identify and describe the new concept of behaviour. The main conclusions are the sustainable behavioural pattern is dominating trend observed among households’ local energy management (homo energeticus). The homo energeticus behaviour was confirmed by every third respondent (critical threshold of 70%) or less restrictive and sustainable behaviour model homo sustinens (critical threshold of 50%) by more than 91.8% of whole respondents.

Antarctic Arctocephalus gazella and subantarctic Arctocephalus tropicalis fur seals breed sympatrically at Macquarie Island. The two species have different lactation strategies, the former rearing its pup in 4 months and the latter taking 10 months. The diet and at-sea foraging behaviour of these sympatric species was compared during the austral summer period when their pup rearing period overlapped. The prey of the two fur seal species was very similar, with fish dominating the diet. The myctophid, Electrona subaspera, was the main prey item (93.9%) in all months of the study. There were no major differences in the diving behaviour between species. Both species foraged north of the island parallel to the Macquarie Ridge. Foraging activity was concentrated at two sites: (i) within 30km north of the island; and (ii) at 60 km north. Most locations for overnight foraging trips were within 10 km of the colonies. The different lactation strategies of A. gazella and A. tropicalis allowed for flexibility in foraging behaviour. At Macquarie Island, the local marine environmental conditions have resulted in similar foraging behaviour for both species.

In the present research, Ni50Ti50 alloy have been fabricated by powder metallurgy method with polypropylene as a binder. During sintering process at 1150°C, organic binder evaporates and makes the alloy porous. The surface of NiTi alloy is covered by TiO2 layer, which increases its wear resistance, but with the increase of frictional heat (produced due to pin on disc apparatus experimentation) this layer, breaks and wear rate increases. The mean value of wear loss was investigated at 95% of confidence level and further experiments were performed to validate the predicted value.

The entomophilous pollination niche (abundance, phenotypic traits, foraging behaviours and environmental tolerances of insect pollinators) helps to understand and better manage crop pollination. We apply this niche approach to assess how an entomophilous crop (blueberry, Vaccinium ashei) can be expanded into new territories (i.e., northern Spain) far from their original area of domestication (North America). Insect visits to blueberry flowers were monitored in a plantation on 12 different days, at 8 different times during day and covering various weather conditions. Abundance, visitation rate, pollen gathering behaviour, and frequency of inter-plant and inter-row movements were recorded. The pollinator assemblage was basically composed of one managed honeybee species (50.8% of visits) and three native bumblebee species (48.3%). There was a marked pattern of seasonal segregation throughout bloom, with bumblebees dominating the early bloom and honeybee the late bloom. Pollinators also segregated along gradients of daily temperature and relative humidity. Finally, the two pollinator types differed in foraging behaviour, with bumblebees having a visitation rate double that of honeybee, collecting pollen more frequently and changing plant and row more frequently. The spatio-temporal and functional complementarity between honeybee and bumblebees suggested here encourages the consideration of an integrated crop pollination strategy for blueberries, based on the concurrence of both wild and managed bees.

Streszczenie:
In public goods situations, a specific destructive behaviour reliably emerges when individuals face the possibility of costly punishing others: antisocial punishment, that is, costly punishing cooperative individuals. So far, however, little is known about the individual differences and situational factors that are associated with the dark side of costly punishment. This research deals with this shortcoming. We argue that antisocial punishment reflects the basic characteristics of sadism, namely, aggressive behaviour to dominate and to harm other individuals. We further argue that antisocial punishment may reflect a type of behaviour that allows for the maintenance of self–esteem (through aggressively dominating others). Therefore, we expect that individuals who report a disposition for everyday sadism are particularly likely to engage in antisocial punishment when their self has been threatened (by thinking about one's own death). In a study ( N = 99), we found empirical support for this assumption. The present research contributes to a better understanding of antisocial punishment and suggests that sadistic tendencies play a crucial role, especially when the self is (existentially) threatened. AbstractThe important thing for teachers is to solve conflicts with students correctly and effectively without damaging the relationship, losing the cooperation with students or disrupting educational process. Although there is a great concern about the way a teacher manages students’ behaviour, there is very little relevant data concerning teacher-student conflict. The article aims at revealing the characteristics of conflict resolution between students and teachers from the students’ point of view. To investigate the process of conflict between a teacher and a student, a case study method was used. Respondents were asked to recall a conflict occurring between them and a teacher during the school years, describe how the incident was handled, and the consequences of it. The number of respondents constituted 30 students. Students and teachers actually engage in a range of behaviours. In accordance with the theoretical framework, the four behavioural categories were grouped. Students reported that during the teacher-students conflict a full palette of strategies (dominating, integrating, accommodating and avoiding strategies) was used. Findings revealed that forcing was expressed by arguments, involving a third party and aggression. Avoiding was expressed by crying, avoiding the contact. Accommodating was expressed by pretending and giving in. Apologising, making a compromise, compensation, talking about the problem were examples of an integrating strategy. The results indicated that participants reported 28 behavioural reactions to a classroom conflict. Among them, 12 were those of teacher engagement, and 16 of student engagement. In line with the conglomerated conflict behaviour framework, students reported that both conflict parties (students and teachers) in the case of active student position engaged in more than one type of behaviour in response to a single incident. Understanding students’ experience would allow teachers to better respond and manage students’ reactions, as well as help teachers prevent behaviours such as aggression and promote other behaviours such as motivation.

Abstract Impact behaviour of glass fibre /epoxy composites with nano- SiO2 modified resin was studied in terms of low velocity impact after water exposure. Nanocomposites with 1%, 2%, 3% 5% 7% nano-SiO2 (Nanopox- Evonic) were investigated. Peak impact load and impact damage area as a function of nanoparticle contents were compared for dry specimens and for samples exposed to water (0.7 %wt. 1.7% water absorbed) at 1J, 2J 3J impact energies. For unmodified composite peak force was higher than for 3% modified specimens and higher for dry specimens than those exposed to water. Impact damage areas were plotted as a function of water contents for modified and unmodified samples. Failure modes were illustrated using SEM micrographs. Numeropus matrix cracks were the dominating failure mode in dry speciemens both unmodified and the modified. Fibre fracture was observed at 3J impact energy in all dry unmodified samples, however water exposure prevented early fibre fracture in nanocomposites. The proposed energy absorption mechanism is nanoparticles debonding.

The currently pursued implementation of wood into novel high performance applications such as automotive parts require knowledge about the material behaviour including ultimate strength. Previous research has shown that fiber deviation seems to be the dominating factor influencing the strength of thin veneers. This study aims to further investigate and quantify the influence of fiber deviation in two dimension and different hierarchical levels on the tensile strength of thin birch veneers. The fiber deviation in- and out-of-plane as well as the micro fibril angle were assessed by means of wide-angle X-ray scattering. Tensile strength was determined in laboratory experiments. Results show a high variability for in-plane fiber deviation mainly constituted by knots and other growth influencing factors. Pearson correlations between strength and fiber deviation ranged from −0.594 up to −0.852. Best correlation (r = −0.852) was achieved for maximum in-plane fiber deviation directly followed by a combined angle of in- and out-of-plane fiber deviation (r = −0.846). Based on the results it was shown that fiber deviation in- and out-of-plane is the dominating factor influencing ultimate tensile strength of thin birch veneers. Further research in regard to non-destructive strength prediction is necessary.

Advancements in financial system and technology, enlarged individual responsibility for financial decisions, and rapid information expansion, have fundamentally transformed women's need to be functionally literate and financially capable, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. The personality also has long term implications on financial well-being. The aim of the paper is to study the dominating role of financial attitude, financial awareness & skills, and financial behaviour on financial competence and the moderating role of personality on financial knowledge, financial behaviour, financial attitude, and financial capability. Multi stage stratified random sampling has been used to collect data from 530 urban working women in both the Public and Private sectors, self-employed professionals, and entrepreneurs. Smart-PLS is used by applying Structure Equation Modelling (SEM) to study the moderating role of personality on financial attitude, behaviour, knowledge, and capability. Further the Chi-square test and Tukey test and Kruskal Wallis Test are used to test the hypothesis. The study found that Financial Knowledge of working women with gold personalities influences their financial capability (Beta, 0.578) the most, While, Financial Behaviour is the primary influencer having green (Beta, 0.396) & blue (Beta, 0.638) personalities. Working women having Green Personality are found to be superior with respect to Financial Behaviour, Financial Capability and Financial Knowledge. It is also observed that working women having blue personality characteristics, have comparatively better financial attitude.

Obedience has become an ethnic identity for Madurese, expressed in the communicative expression ‘Bhuppa’-Bhâbbu’-Ghuru-Rato.’ Thus, the meaning of hierarchical obedience has been structured firmly into daily communication routines and behaviour as a form of self-development. The pattern of patron-client communication is a strong stimulant in the tradition of obedience that forms hegemonic power through patron-client-dominating authority. Interestingly, in Madurese society, such a relationship can actually be classified as exploitative-mutualistic. The study of rationality perspective on the meaning of communication and obedience relations shows that not all Madurese actions follow rational rules in Weber’s perspective. Indeed, there has been a reconstruction of the meaning of obedience in Madurese so that the rationality of needs becomes a justification for irrational actions and the relatively long-standing patron-client communication bond in Madurese culture. The phenomenological approach was considered most suitable for this research because it could reveal the natural meaning of Madurese specific obedience behaviour through explanation of phenomena and causes.

The ductile damage mechanisms dominating in modern high-strength steels have emphasised the significance of the onset of damage and the subsequent damage evolution in sheet metal forming processes. This paper contributes to the modelling of the plasticity and ductile damage behaviour of a dual-phase steel sheet by proposing a new damage mechanics approach derived from the combination of different types of damage models. It addresses the influence of stress state on the plasticity behaviour and onset of damage of materials, and quantifies the microstructure degradation using a dissipation-energy-based damage evolution law. The model is implemented into ABAQUS/Explicit by means of a user material subroutine (VUMAT) and applied to the subsequent numerical simulations. A hybrid experimental and numerical approach is employed to calibrate the material parameters, and the detailed program is demonstrated. The calibrated parameters and the model are then verified by experiments at different levels, and a good agreement between the experimental and numerical results is achieved.

Eating disorders are associated with one of the highest mortality rates among all mental disorders, yet there is very little research about them within the newly emerging and promising field of computational psychiatry. As such, we focus on investigating a previously unexplored, yet core aspect of eating disorders–body image dissatisfaction. We continue a freshly opened debate about model-based learning and its trade-off against model-free learning–a proxy for goal-directed and habitual behaviour. We perform a behavioural study that utilises a two-step decision-making task and a reinforcement learning model to understand the effect of body image dissatisfaction on model-based learning in a population characterised by high scores of disordered eating and negative appearance beliefs, as recruited using Prolific. We find a significantly reduced model-based contribution in the body image dissatisfaction task condition in the population of interest as compared to a healthy control. This finding suggests general deficits in deliberate control in this population, leading to habitual, compulsive-like behaviours (body checking) dominating the experience. Importantly, the results may inform treatment approaches, which could focus on enhancing the reliance on goal-directed decision making to help cope with unwanted behaviours.

Abstract. Mineral dissolution and precipitation can substantially affect rock permeability, which is a critical parameter for a broad range of geological subsurface applications. Virtual experiments on digital pore-scale samples represent a powerful and flexible approach to understand the impact of microstructural alterations on evolving hydraulic rock behaviour and quantify trends in permeability. In the present study, porosity-permeability relations are simulated for a precipitation-dissolution cycle within a typical reservoir sandstone. A hysteresis in permeability is observed depending on the geochemical process and dominating reaction regime, whereby permeability of the six investigated reaction paths varies by more than two orders of magnitude at a porosity of 17 %. Controlling parameters for this hysteresis phenomenon are the closure and re-opening of micro-scale flow channels, derived from changes in pore throat diameter and connectivity of the pore network. In general, a transport-limited regime exhibits a stronger impact on permeability than a reaction-limited regime, which uniformly alters the pore space. In case of mineral precipitation, higher permeability reduction results from successive clogging of pore throats, whereas in case of dissolution, permeability significantly increases due to a widening of existing flow paths. Both, the geochemical process and dominating reaction regime govern characteristic microstructural alterations, which cannot be simply reversed by the inversion of the geochemical processes itself. Hence, permeability evolution clearly depends on the hydrogeochemical history of the sample.

An aircraft is an advanced mechanical structure made by man which has been dominating the skies from the early 19th centuries. It has been used for transportation of cargo/ passengers from one place to another in a shorter period of time. Advances in aeronautics lead to the development of fighter aircrafts with exciting and dominating characteristics. A fighter aircraft is to be designed in such a way that it can withstand heavy loadings on the wing due to its high manoeuvrability. A fighter aircraft is designed to be marginally unstable, which makes control easier and better during manoeuvrability at high speeds, but in this state there is a heavy fluctuating load acting on the wing. The wing is connected to the fuselage using wing fuselage lug attachment bracket. Since the wing is a cantilever structure, the load acting on the wing is concentrated on the hinge (lug bracket assembly). In this paper, a lug bracket is designed according to the standard design procedure and is validated using Finite Element Methods to ensure the static loading capability and stress concentrations in lug bracket. The validated model has been optimized using Altair Optistruct. The optimized model has been validated under static loading condition for the stress concentration and displacement and is compared with initial model in order to study and understand its behaviour under various conditions.

ABSTRACT Θ Mus = HD 113904 is a massive multiple system containing the WC5/6 + O6/7V binary WR48 in a $19.1\, \mathrm{ d}$ circular orbit. Previous attempts to constrain the variable photometric properties of this binary subsystem have been thwarted by the dominating stochastically variable light from a 10-times brighter blue supergiant (BSG), located only 46 mas away. Even now, with extensive optical space-based photometry from one of the BRITE-Constellation satellites, we were unable to beat down the intrinsic stochastic variability from the BSG enough to provide a convincing detection of a low-level atmospheric eclipse of the WC + O system, as often seen in other short-period WR + O systems. We explore the variability of the dominating BSG and find that its behaviour is similar to that of other BSGs, with a forest of low-frequency Fourier peaks likely from stochastic gravity waves reaching the stellar surface. Then, by adopting an orbital inclination from another more reliable source, we obtain a clumping-independent, linear-density-dependent upper limit of the mass-loss rate for the WR component of $(6.5 \pm 0.3) \times 10^{-5}\, \mathrm{ M}_{\odot }\,\mathrm{ yr}^{ -1}$, which is consistent with values of other WC5/6 subtypes. This corresponds to an upper limit of 5.0 ± 0.2 mmag for the depth of the atmospheric eclipse in the WR48 subsystem when observed together with the BSG.

Abstract A Fe30Mn11Al1CNbV low-density steel was processed by solid solution treatment and deformed at different temperatures from -196°C to +200°C by tensile testing. It was found that the deformation microstructure is mainly dominated by thin dislocation slip bands during tensile deformation, and deformation twinning was found near grain boundaries at a strain of 0.5, regardless of deformation temperature. The stacking fault energy is calculated by consideration of both chemical composition and the deformation temperature, which is high and normally should not initiate deformation twinning. However, deformation twinning is occasionally observed in the deformation microstructure at room temperature, and becomes to be one of the dominating features at liquid nitrogen temperature. Based on the analysis of work hardening and microstructure evolution, it is proposed that the deformation behaviour of the austenitic low density steel is controlled by the continuous thinning of dislocation slip bands at temperatures of 25°C and 200°C, but by a synergistic behaviour of slip bands and deformation twinning at -196°C.

Abstract This study examined the previous criminal behaviour of individuals who were arrested for violating the drug driving over the prescribed limit offence, introduced into the UK in March 2015. The sample consists of individuals arrested during the first year of enforcement of this offence from March 2015 to March 2016 within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Metropolitan Police Service in London. The previous criminal behaviour of the research subjects was framed within a number of criminological theories and there is examination of any correlation between their criminal history and the drug-driving offence they had been arrested for. The criminal activity was obtained from each individual’s criminal record held on the police national computer and coded with regards to offence groups. As well as criminal sanctions, there was also an examination of drug-related arrest histories. The results indicate a high level of previous criminal activity with drugs and driving matters dominating that activity. This supports the construct that, in this context, drug driving fits within their patterns of offending.

Mental and social ill health is an increasing and often dominating problem among schoolchildren, thus proper documentation is a basic issue, both for individuals and for the population as a whole. School nurses obviously need professional guidance regarding documentation and ethical challenges. Core spun yarn gives denim fabrics durability and flexibility, which has increased the focus on these yarns among denim manufacturers in recent years. These yarns undergo tensile fatigue loading, a typical phenomenon that happens on various parts of clothing, during use and wear. The study on the response of yarns during cyclic loading is essential because it leads to a better understanding of the growth characteristics when repeatedly loaded during the use of core spun yarn fabrics. In this study, the impact of various production parameters such as linear density, stretch percentage, twist multiplier, and the number of cyclic loading on the fatigue value of core-spun yarns was investigated. 18 different core spun yarns were manufactured by modified ring spinning to investigate the effect of various production parameters on fatigue value before and after 10, 20, and 30 load cycles. Experimental results showed that there is an increase in fatigue value with an increase in the number of load cycles. Statistical analysis showed that there is a significant effect of linear density, stretch percentage, and twist multiplier on the fatigue value of yarn. There is a reduction in fatigue value with an increase in linear density, stretch percentage, and twist multiplier of yarn. The contribution of the number of cyclic loading was found to be more dominating in comparison to other process parameters like linear density, twist multiplier, and stretch percentage on the fatigue value of core-spun yarns.

Further, the authors analyse how the centrality and compatibility of the identified logics affect the institutionalisation of external demands.Design/methodology/approach41 semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives from healthcare providers within spine surgery in Sweden, where a value-based reimbursement programme was introduced. Data were analysed using thematic content analysis with an abductive approach, and a conceptual framework based on neo-institutional theory.FindingsAfter the introduction of the value-based reimbursement programme, the centrality and compatibility of the institutional logics within healthcare-providing organisations changed. The logic of spine surgeons was dominating whereas physiotherapists struggled to motivate a higher cost for high quality physiotherapy. The institutional logic of nurses was aligned with spine surgeons, however as a peripheral logic facilitating spine surgery. To attain holistic and interdisciplinary healthcare, dominating institutional logics within healthcare-providing organisations need to allow peripheral institutional logics to attain a higher centrality for higher compatibility. Thus, allowing other occupations to take responsibility for quality and attain the feeling of professional pride.Originality/valueInterviewing spine surgeons, physiotherapists, nurses, managers and administrators allows us to deepen the understanding of micro-level behaviour as a reaction (or lack thereof) to macro-level decisions.

Streszczenie:
Three-dimensional numerical simulations of canonical statistically steady, statistically planar turbulent flames have been used in an attempt to produce distributed burning in lean methane and hydrogen flames. Dilatation across the flame means that extremely large Karlovitz numbers are required; even at the extreme levels of turbulence studied (up to a Karlovitz number of 8767) distributed burning was only achieved in the hydrogen case. In this case, turbulence was found to broaden the reaction zone visually by around an order of magnitude, and thermodiffusive effects (typically present for lean hydrogen flames) were not observed. In the preheat zone, the species compositions differ considerably from those of one-dimensional flames based a number of different transport models (mixture averaged, unity Lewis number and a turbulent eddy viscosity model). The behaviour is a characteristic of turbulence dominating non-unity Lewis number species transport, and the distinct limit is again attributed to dilatation and its effect on the turbulence. Peak local reaction rates are found to be lower in the distributed case than in the lower Karlovitz cases but higher than in the laminar flame, which is attributed to effects that arise from the modified fuel-temperature distribution that results from turbulent mixing dominating low Lewis number thermodiffusive effects. Finally, approaches to achieve distributed burning at realisable conditions are discussed; factors that increase the likelihood of realising distributed burning are higher pressure, lower equivalence ratio, higher Lewis number and lower reactant temperature.

HIV/AIDS is a global health concern and young people are more at risk of being infected. The explored factors that contribute to HIV/AIDS and risky sexual behaviour among learners aged 12-18 years in Vuyolwethu High School. The study focused on learners who were in Grade 10-12. This study employed a mixed method research. Quantitative phase was limited to learners while the qualitative phase focused on life-orientation teachers. The total study sample is 150, and the gender distribution is equally distributed at 50% for both males and females. The dominating age and grade among respondents is age 17-18 years and grade 11. Quantitative data were subjected to descriptive analyses while thematic analysis is employed for analysis of qualitative data. Overall, about 51.3% of the respondents strongly agreed that engaging in sexual intercourse without protection is risky, and that unprotected sexual activity can lead to unwanted sexual encounters, unwanted teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. Similarly, substance abuse is found to be a key factor that influences risky sexual behaviour among adolescents, thus resulting to unwanted pregnancies and HIV/AIDS infection. The main conclusion drawn from the findings is that while adolescents seem to be knowledgeable on the factors that contribute to risky sexual behaviour, this knowledge does not lead to attitude change. It is therefore recommended, based on the study’s findings, that there should be more focused training programmes directed not only at knowledge but also attitude and behaviour change.

We estimated power series expansion by a dominating homogeneous polynomial with the degree that does not exceed some number depending only from radii of bidisc. Replacing universal quantifier by existential quantifier for radii of bidisc, we also proved sufficient conditions of boundedness of $\mathbf{L}$-index in joint variables for analytic functions which are weaker than necessary conditions.

The most important prey was Crustacea (mainly Decapoda: Brachyura, such as Goneplax rhomboides, Liocarcinus spp., Philocheras spp.) and Teleostei (mainly European anchovy Engraulis encrasicolus and black goby Gobius niger). There was no difference between male and female diet. Feeding habits varied with size, with fish dominating the stomach contents of larger specimens. Finally, fish increased in winter and crustaceans in summer. Chelidonichthys lucerna shows a generalist and opportunistic foraging behaviour, preying mainly epibenthic and nectobenthic organisms.

A fire accident may happen at anytime and anywhere. Such an accident happened in 2017 on the campus of Bogor Agriculture University (IPB). It was caused by an electricity short circuit. In 2013, an electricity panel exploded in a building at Faletehan University campus. A fire accident is an imminent threat that will result in a great loss so that an occupational health and safety program to deal with fire risks needs to be implemented in an academic community and other public space. To find out the correlation between the set of knowledge, perception, attitude, and motivation and the fire risk control behaviour. A quantitative statistical analysis was conducted on cross-sectional. The research was carried out at the Falatehan campus from July to September 2021. data obtained from all members of the academic community at Faletehan University (2144 persons). Out of that population of 2144 respondents, 377 respondents were made as samples. Data obtained from answers in the questionnaires distributed among all respondents were processed with univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Each member of the set of knowledge, perception, attitude, and motivation is correlated with the fire risk control behaviour. Knowledge and fire risk control behaviour have an OR (odds ratio) of 2.193 and p-value of 0.0000. Perception and fire risk control behaviour have an OR of 1.962 and p-value of 0.001. Attitude and fire risk control behaviour have an OR of 1.785 and p-value of 0.006. Motivation and fire risk control behaviour have an OR of 1.962 and p-value of 0.001. The dominating factor associated with the fire risk control behaviour is motivation with an OR of 2,538 and p-value of 0.000 on their relationship. Knowledge, perception, attitude, and motivation are strongly correlated with fire risks control behaviour. Suggestions: The top management of Faletehan University needs to maintain the motivation of all its academic community members in fire risk control behaviour and to strengthen occupational health and safety programs related to fire safety.

Abstract The identification of the dynamic behaviour of a structure is one of the crucial steps in the design of the dynamic resistance of the structure. The dynamic behaviour is represented by the natural frequencies and damping which are subsequently used along with the considered dynamic actions in the design process. In regard of integral bridge concept, one of the consequences of the omission of joints and bearings is the substantial soil-structure interaction which in turn increases the sensitivity of the dynamic behaviour of the bridges to the surrounding soil characteristic. In this article, we extended our hybrid BEM-FEM steady-state dynamic numerical tool to the 3D regime, developed by utilizing an in-house BEM and the commercial FEM software ABAQUS and use it to analyse the dynamic interaction between the bridge and the underlying soil as well as the backfill. The numerical results from four typical integral bridges show that underlying soil characteristic has great effect on the resonant frequencies and the damping. The backfill material properties tend to have less significant role due to the abutment wingwalls dominating the force transfer between the soil and the superstructure. The results also show that the degree of influence of the soil-structure interaction on the coupled system is affected by the type of load pattern in addition to the flexural stiffness of the superstructure.

Streszczenie:
The unsteady laminar flow between two large rotating disks when one of them is impulsively started is described using the von Kármán similarity analysis to reduce the solution of the Navier–Stokes equations to a set of ordinary differential equations. It is found that the transient phenomenon consists of three distinct phases. Firstly, the development of the Ekman boundary layer, where a quasi-steady Stewartson-type of flow is created. Secondly, angular momentum is initially diffused in the axial direction until the inward radial convection of angular momentum becomes dominating. Thirdly, a Batchelor flow is created once the Bödewadt boundary layer is developed and the entrainment of disk and stator boundary layers are balanced. The dependences of the characteristic dimensionless times on the Reynolds number based on the cavity gap for the second and third stages have been identified numerically and analytically. It is found that the diffusive part of the transient is bypassed if the flow, initially at rest, is perturbed with a small circumferential velocity. The flow and heat transfer transient during a ramp of finite duration has been computed numerically. The integral angular momentum and energy balances of the cavity have been performed in order to understand the energy and momentum budget of the cavity. It is concluded that the spin-up and the spin-down process of a rotor–stator cavity using a quasi-stationary approximation of the fluid, where the time derivatives are neglected, is questionable for realistic gas turbine applications. Finally, the self-similar solution is compared against two-dimensional axisymmetric, steady and unsteady, laminar simulations to assess the limitations and validity of the self-similar analysis. It has been identified that in a closed squared cavity the outer shroud modifies the physics of the transient, but the general conclusions drawn from the one-dimensional model are still valid.
