Streszczenie:
Present study shows the spatial variation of Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD), solar irradiance and their association at the urban and rural sites in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) during the summer season of the year 2015. Summer-time AOD data from the NASA’s Terra satellite MODIS sensor has been used to study the spatial distribution of aerosols over Delhi and its surrounding rural area. The ground data for the direct and global solar irradiances was collected over this region at urban and rural locations in Delhi and NCR using a Fieldspec Spectro-radiometer. HYSPLIT model has been used for the air mass trajectory analysis. The AOD values were observed to be higher over Delhi compared to the relatively lower AOD in rural area of NCR. The NCR site observed higher average solar irradiances than Delhi during the summer season. This may be because of the higher aerosol concentration in Delhi as compared to its outskirts. Also, this region is affected by the severe dust storm events during the summer season which further increases the aerosol load in the atmosphere. HYSPLIT results show the influence of western Thar Desert air masses on the Delhi-NCR. Windblown as well anthropogenic aerosols play a major role in scattering and absorption of the incoming solar radiation and hence, in governing the micro-climatology of the region.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:
India faces a number of water and wastewater issues and water related health hazards. These problems arise primarily due to the increasing level of qualitative and quantitative depletion of water resources owing to over-utilization and continuous discharge of wastewater. Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) have been constructed in most places to reduce the degradation of water quality of the receiving water bodies by reducing the total pollution load on the same and to ensure a healthy environment both aesthetically along with preserving the ecosystem involved. However, the purpose of establishing the STPs is not met until their effectiveness in treating sewerage is ensured which has been observed as a major concern throughout the Country. In view of a varied experience with different technologies under the various river action plans that have been initiated from time to time, a need for a case study was perceived to assess technologically and financially suitable options for sewage treatment. Technologies which are being used in other parts of the world are being deployed in India on a large scale and it is well established that each technology has its own merits and demerits. Therefore, their techno-economic viability under Indian conditions needs to be proven and will depend on prevailing local conditions, urban settings, community acceptability, etc. The work carried out in this report presents the results of the evaluation carried out for the techno-economical and environmental performance with particular emphasis on six (6) STPs based on different treatment technologies such as Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR), BIOFOR, Activated Sludge Process (ASP), Activated Sludge Process combined with BIOFOR (ASP + BIOFOR) and Oxidation ditch located in Delhi/NCR region for handling and treating the domestic wastewater generated from the designated localities under specific STPs. The parameters which were monitored under the study included pH, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids (MLSS), Total Coliform (TC) and Fecal Coliform (FC). In addition to the evaluation of the performance of the STPs based on different treatment technologies, the same were also analyzed for the capital cost, operation and maintenance costs, energy requirements and land requirement, which is primarily based on the data as obtained from various STPs in the Ganga River Basin and information collected as well as compiled from various sewage treatment technology providers.

SHEKHAR, CHANDRA. "A STUDY ON CONSUMER ATTITUDE AND PERCEPTION TOWARDS KINGFISHER BEER". Thesis, 2013. http://dspace.dtu.ac.in:8080/jspui/handle/repository/17304.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:
Marketing concept starts with consumers’ needs and their behavior in meeting their needs. In order to satisfy their needs consumers make many buying decisions every day. And marketers need to study these consumer purchase decisions in order to find answers to questions about what, why, where and how much they buy and align their marketing program to that effect. For making a successful marketing program it is necessary for marketers to study the consumer behavior so that they would know the psychology of consumers. Consumer psychology has various components such as perceptions, knowledge, attitude, intention, motive and the like. This research paper is done particularly on the two components of consumer psychology namely perception and attitude. The purpose of this study is to survey the perception and attitude of NCR consumers towards Kingfisher Beer. Kingfisher Beer is the pioneer and still the dominant beer brand worldwide. And in recent days the Brand’s market share has significantly increased and it is becoming a synonym of beer across the globe. This wide acceptance and dominance in India’s beer industry, indirectly signifies a positive consumer attitude towards the brand. But the actual attitude of beer consumers towards Kingfisher beer, the reason behind the attitude and its implication on the behavior or consumption of the beer is the rationale of this research. The study based itself on the information collected from primary source by taking a sample of 80 beer consumers from bars and restaurants around Delhi NCR and distributing self-administered questionnaires. Secondary sources such as books, journals and research papers written on similar topic are also reviewed. Appropriate statistical analysis such as frequency, correlation analysis are used according to respective objective and descriptors. Based on the findings of this research, it can be concluded that most beer consumers have positive attitude towards the beer Kingfisher and this is resulted due to its product quality and promotional activities. The Kingfisher Beer’s taste, aroma, foam and thirst quenching attributes are found to be very satisfactory. And the advertisements are also different from the other competing beer brands in a way that they are creative, seasonal, cultural and entertaining. With regard to other promotional mix, the public relation efforts such as participating and sponsoring sports and supporting other programs and festivals are positively perceived by the respondents which in turn contribute to the increase in sales volume and market share of the Brand. One important point pointed out is the intention to switch, even though most of the respondents like and consume Kingfisher, still 50% of them want to switch to other brand only half of them are loyal, and this is an assignment for Kingfisher because it requires it more work not only to attract but also maintain its consumers. In other words it should catch the hearts of its consumers and create loyalty.

RAGHAV, AYUSHI. "ASSESSMENT AND INDEXING OF GROUNDWATER QUALITY OF DELHI, INDIA USING GIS". Thesis, 2020. http://dspace.dtu.ac.in:8080/jspui/handle/repository/18175.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:
Ground water is a fundamental and crucial segment of our life supportive network. The ground water assets are being used for drinking, water system and mechanical purposes. There is developing worry on decaying of ground water quality due to “geogenic” and anthropogenic activities. The present study evaluates the groundwater quality of National Capital Territory (NCT) Delhi with respect to drinking and irrigation purpose using Geographic Information System (GIS). The Water Quality Index (WQI) of the groundwater for drinking purposed is also calculated in this work. The data used in this work was collected from CGWB WRIS for the years 2010 and 2015 for twenty-eight locations in the study area. The drinking water quality has been defined using the parameters such as pH, total alkalinity, total hardness, calcium content, nitrate content etc. while irrigation water quality has been defined using the parameters as sodium absorption ratio, salinity hazard , permeability index etc. Spatial distribution maps of these parameter have been generated using QGIS (version 3.10.2). It was observed that in majority of study area the overall concentration of pH, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride, fluoride and sulphate in groundwater had been increased over the span of five years from 2010 to 2015.While overall concentration of total hardness, total alkalinity, nitrate and calcium in groundwater had been decreased over the span of five years from 2010 to 2015. Irrigation water quality of majority of the areas was lying under “excellent” to “good” quality category. About 67.8% of the area in 2010 and 78.6% of the area in 2015 under the study comes under “poor” to “unsuitable for drinking category” as revealed by the WQI studies. It can be concluded that overall quality of groundwater of Delhi had been deteriorated from 2010 to 2015. The reasons for this might include increase in population, v over-exploitation of groundwater resources, urbanization and industrialization on large scale.

It took these reform choices and the policy context as a given. It is important to note that the Delhi reforms had its share of criticisms (Kumar, 2016; Rampal, 2016). However, our goal was not to comment on whether these were the “right” reforms or have their appropriateness measured in terms of their technical capability. This study sought to understand the pathways through which policy formulations, designed and promoted by committed leaders (the sound and functional head of the flailing state), transmit their ideas and how these are understood, resisted, and adopted on the ground. In essence, this is a study that sought to illuminate the multifaceted challenges of introducing change and transition in low-capacity settings. Its focus was on documenting the process of implementing reforms and the dynamics of resistance, distortion, and acceptance of reform efforts on the ground. The provocative claim that this report makes is that the success and failure, and eventual institutionalisation, of reforms depend fundamentally on how the frontline of the system understands, interprets, and adapts to reform efforts. This, we shall argue, holds the key to upending the status quo of “pilot” burial grounds that characterise many education reform efforts in India. Reforms are never implemented in a vacuum. They inevitably intersect with the belief systems, cultures, values, and norms that shape the education ecosystem. The dynamics of this interaction, the frictions it creates, and reformers’ ability to negotiate these frictions are what ultimately shape outcomes. In the ultimate analysis, we argue that reforming deeply entrenched education systems (and, more broadly, public service delivery systems) is not merely a matter of political will and technical solutions (although both are critical). It is about identifying the points of reform friction in the ecosystem and experimenting with different ways of negotiating these. The narrative presented here does not have any clear answers for what needs to be done right. Instead, it seeks to make visible the intricacies and potential levers of change that tend to be ignored in the rush to “evaluate” reforms and declare success and failure. Moving beyond success to understand the dynamics of change and resistance is the primary contribution of this study.
