Streszczenie:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to shed light on the relationship between organizational commitment (OC) and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) as mediated by employee engagement (EE). The impact of different facets of OC (affective, continuance and normative) and EE (alignment, affectiveness and action-orientation) is examined with respect to OCB.Design/methodology/approachInsights from the literature underpin the hypotheses on how EE mediates the relationship between OC and OCB. Primary data using survey questionnaire were collected from 881 permanent employees of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in India. Hayes' model 4 has been used for the mediation analysis.FindingsThe analyses show that only one facet of OC- affective commitment and the alignment and action-orientation dimensions of EE positively affect OCB. The relationship between OC and OCB is fully mediated by EE.Practical implicationsThe results imply that engaging employees is pivotal for effectively fostering citizenship behavior among employees. Organizations should be willing to implement strategies and interventions which enhance the emotional experience of employees to foster a sense of belongingness with the organization and engage them.Originality/valueThe paper draws on a unique data set of a prestigious organization in India to provide insights with substantial degree of generalizability into the relationship between OC, OCB and EE, whilst applying a comprehensive definition of these constructs. It is the first study to examine the inter-relationship among different facets of these constructs.

Streszczenie:
Abstract The effect of proximity to a transit system on property values has become a key issue of debate regarding public infrastructure and economic development. This article aims to examine the impact of selected stations along the Blue line of Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) on commercial property prices. The research analyzed 1,413 commercial property parcels sold before and after the commissioning of Blue line in 2005. Hedonic Price Analysis (HPA) was used to estimate the effects of proximity to the metro rail on commercial property values. The method was applied to two time periods, i.e., from 2000-2004 and 2005-2008, coinciding with planning and construction (pre-commissioning phase and the operation phase (post-commissioning phase) of metro rail using actual sale prices of commercial units. The results indicate that a station node shows a negative trend during the planning and construction period. However, the operation period has produced a significant price premium associated with commercial properties, connected with improved accessibility. The coefficients indicate that MRTS has induced an increase in prices from INR 732.80 to INR 246.19, and its radius of impact covers an area of approximately 1/2 km from the stations. The methodology and results provide insight with a specific focus on commercial real estate values in other metropolitan cities developing and expanding MRTSs.

Streszczenie:
There is growing recognition of the importance of Last Mile Connectivity (LMC) to mass transit systems. In the context of Delhi, albeit a shift can be seen in the provisioning of LMC, and despite previous studies indicating that more than 50% of metro rail users walk to and/or from metro stations, yet the seriousness with which pedestrian environment is woven into transit planning is lacking.
The paper is based on an empirical study conducted by the author, of approximately 800 samples of metro users surveyed across seven stations of Delhi Metro, representing different station typologies, ridership and locational contexts. The paper focuses on the “walk” choice of users across a variety of factors related to their socio-economic strata, trip characteristics and station context. A parallel study is conducted to audit the pedestrian environment within one kilometre distance around each station. The paper further attempts to investigate whether pedestrian environment affects user choice of opting for “walk” as the last mile choice. It also ranks the performance of the case stations in terms of various attributes of walkability.
In conclusion, the paper contends that overall walkability environment offered to transit commuters is crucial in the share of walk trips for last mile commute and the distance commuters are willing to walk. It recommends that walking as LMC choice needs to be promoted through enhanced user experience in absence of which a significant amount of last mile travel will happen through unsustainable mechanised modes.

Abstract: A metro rail system is more preferred type of metro system due to ease of construction and also it makes urban areas more accessible with very less construction difficulty. metro concept is very easy to transport large numbers of people and transportation. In metro city like Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai is very populated city An elevated metro system has two major elements pier and box girder. The codes are now moving towards a performance-based (displacement-based) design approach, which consider. All the information are given by MMRC and considered the data value in this design as per the target performances at the design stage. Which is located to ShyamNager metro station in Mumbai, The present study focuses on pier of an elevated metro structural system conventionally the Double Decker pier of a metro bridge is designed using a force based approach. During a seismic loading, the behaviour of a single pier elevated bridge relies mostly on the ductility and the displacement capacity. It is important to check the ductility of such single piers. Force based methods do not explicitly check the displacement capacity during the design. The codes are now moving towards a performance-based (displacement-based) design approach, which consider the design as per the target performances at the design stage. Performance of a pier designed by a Direct Displacement Based Design is compared with that of a force-based designed one. The design of the pier is done by both force based seismic design method and direct displacement based seismic design method the study.

Cities grow and with it urban form, unique to each, keeps evolving. Delhi can be perceived as having a poly centric, poly-nodal, radial city structure and a circumferential and partly sectoral form. World over, cities have evolved from a complex relationship between numerous influencing factors. It can be argued that in present times, transport and technology are the two significant pre-cursors of change. The next decade in India is going to see massive interventions in urban areas with regard to infrastructure, especially those related to transportation. The city of Delhi is an appropriate case to examine in this regard as currently a mass rapid transport system is being introduced in the city. Delhi is a unique city as it is probably the only capital city in the world both in terms of its physical size and population it serves that relies only on buses for public transport. It is also a city which has grown rapidly post independence failing any formal planning interventions proposed by the subsequent master plans for its containment. The introduction of the new transit system being one of the biggest financial investments in the city post independence is seen as an opportunity to restructure the city to accommodate an increase in population of 10 million people and also to define future urbanization trends in the region. This thesis is an inquiry aimed at understanding as to how the advent of mass transit can be utilized by a city like Delhi to limit its sprawl and address changes in land use patterns. A comparative study of other world city regions encourages one to think that intensifying development along transit corridors and at nodes is one option which could lead to a more efficient distribution of people in the city of Delhi. The thesis also questions the nature of present planning framework for the city and suggests appropriate planning and policy adjustments to complement the pattern of development proposed in context with the opportunities presented by the advent of the new mass transit system.

Streszczenie:
The objective of any proper protection scheme is to keep the power system stable and reliable by isolating only the components that are experiencing fault while leaving as much of the electrical network as possible still in operation. Major components of any protection systems are instrument transformers, relays, circuit breakers and sometimes communication channel. With the rapid progress in technology, this aspect of electrical engineering applications have become very specialized and now most of the electrical organizations have dedicated teams specializing in this aspect with dedicated softwares for iteration of complex electrical network. Rail based mass transit system are gaining popularity in the country due to the punctuality, comfort and ease of travel provided to the consumers. In this backdrop, the importance of reliable power supply becomes very important. To ensure reliable supply for passengers safety and comfort, planned redundancies in the electrical network, selective and quick protection scheme are very essential for restoring power supply within the stipulated time frame in case of any incident. This dissertation briefly presents the introduction to the system of auxiliary power distribution in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, analyses the Protection scheme of 33 kV Auxiliary system ring feeders and suggests tripping logics to improve system performance during various fault scenarios. The tripping logics not only help in eliminating the previous drawbacks but also help in quick identification of faulty section resulting in timely resumption of supply from the various planned redundancies. This tripping logic can also prove to be useful in any interconnected ring network or a micro grid which is currently the future of electrical distribution network in many countries.

Streszczenie:
Abstract Delhi Metro is the first Metro in the world to provide 25 kV AC Rigid Overhead Conductor System (ROCS) in underground Tunnel. Most of the metros worldwide runs on 1500 V DC. The Elevated section of Delhi Metro is also provided with 25 kV AC Flexible OHE systems. The system is designed in accordance with EN-50119, 50122. MRTS system plays an important role in functioning of the city transport. In the national capital of India, the Delhi Metro has become lifeline of Delhi since it’s inauguration in December 2002. Even occasional disruption of services, not only creates inconvenience & chaos between commuters but also invites severe criticism from public & media. A number of failures in flexible OHE have caused disruption of metro services in the past few years. In elevated & at grade sections, DMRC is using conventional 25 kV AC flexible OHE where contact wire is suspended from a stranded messenger wire. Detailed analysis of the failure incidents indicated that catenaries’ parting and strands breakages due to short circuit contribute a significant portion i.e. 49% of total flexible OHE failures, While ROCS in underground stations is giving almost trouble-free services. Exploration of the possibilities of adopting Rigid OCS in elevated section shall help in reducing the breakdowns in 25kV traction as this will eliminate the component (i.e. Messenger wire) which is responsible for major failure. Also, mechanical properties of ROCS during electrical faults are far superior to that of flexible OHE.

Streszczenie:
Abstract Delhi metro uses 25kV single phase AC traction electric supply to power trains which is usually supplied through a continuous conductor running along the track such as overhead lines. Traction power is supplied from Traction sub stations which can cater a smaller portion of the line. Hence, AC traction system for one line comprises of different sections of suitable length being fed by different sub-stations. The electric power is generated in three phases with each having a phase shift of 120°, there is a possibility of two different traction sections being fed by different phases of power supply. In such condition, to avoid the risk of supply mixing of different phases, there is need to keep these sections isolated from each other. Therefore, a specific arrangement of conductor is done and a neutral section is created, which is preferably an earthed section. A significant portion of metro lines runs underground therefore the neutral section in underground tunnels is provided in a box tunnel constructed through cut and cover method to maintain the required clearances for separation of different phase power supply. The cut and cover method involves temporary acquisition of land, massive excavation followed by a durable covering to support the overhead construction and subsequent restoration of excavated area which takes around 6–8 months in construction. Moreover, neutral section is to be located at a minimum distance of 250 meters from platform having tangent track, zero gradient, no stop signals. Accordingly, there is a need of developing improved and cost-effective technology for providing neutral sections in the AC traction system in underground to reduce the time taken for construction and abolish the present practice of constructing a cut & cover tunnel between two stations. The present invention provides a time and space saving method of incorporating neutral sections in the 25kV AC traction system within the round/bored tunnel by creating a niche in the soffit of tunnel which also ensures all the safety clearances required for making effective neutral sections. The tunnel with circular cross section is bored using tunnel boring machines. The bored tunnel is approximately 5.6m to 5.8m in diameter to house the track, metro train, overhead equipments for electrification. A neutral section is to be housed in the niche created in the ceiling of the round/bored tunnel during the boring process itself. The time spent in boring tunnel utilizing boring machines is considerably less than the time spent in cut and cover method of construction. This Paper present in detail the design concept prepared by DMRC for Creation of 25 KV AC neutral section in Bored/Round Tunnel of Propose Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS. DMRC has also filed a patent for the innovation with Indian Patent Authority.
