Streszczenie:
The paper presents new ideas in the International SQuaRE (Software Quality Requirements and Evaluation) standardisation research project, which concerns the development of a special branch of international standards for software quality. Data can be considered as an integral part of software. The current international standard and technical report of the ISO/IEC 9126, ISO/IEC 14598 series and ISO/IEC 12119 standard covert the whole software as an indivisible entity. However, such data sets as databases and data stores have a special character and need a different structure of quality characteristic. Therefore it was decided in the SQuaRE project create a special international standard for data quality. The main idea for this standard and the critical discussion of these ideas is presented in this paper. The main part of this contribution was presented on the conference Agricultural Perspectives XIV, aligned by Czech University of Agriculture in Prague, September 20 to 21, 2005.

Streszczenie:
This article investigates the evolution of data quality issues from traditional structured data managed in relational databases to Big Data. In particular, the paper examines the nature of the relationship between Data Quality and several research coordinates that are relevant in Big Data, such as the variety of data types, data sources and application domains, focusing on maps, semi-structured texts, linked open data, sensor & sensor networks and official statistics. Consequently a set of structural characteristics is identified and a systematization of the a posteriori correlation between them and quality dimensions is provided. Finally, Big Data quality issues are considered in a conceptual framework suitable to map the evolution of the quality paradigm according to three core coordinates that are significant in the context of the Big Data phenomenon: the data type considered, the source of data, and the application domain. Thus, the framework allows ascertaining the relevant changes in data quality emerging with the Big Data phenomenon, through an integrative and theoretical literature review.

Streszczenie:
A state-of-the-art in the domain of data quality assessment and maintaining in modern information systems is presented in the paper. A short historical view on the development of this problem is given. Particular attention is paid to the development of the idea of multi-aspect data quality assessment. The problem of extension of single data quality assessment on higher-level data structures is considered. The methods of multi-aspect data quality measures ordering for comparison is analyzed and its solution based on the concept of semi-ordering in linear vector (Kantorovitsh) space is proposed. Remarks on organizational and technological tools for data quality maintenance in organizations are given. Expected future trends in the development of data quality assessment and maintenance methods are suggested.

The standardization and adoption of Semantic Web technologies has resulted in an unprecedented volume of data being published as Linked Data (LD). However, the “publish first, refine later” philosophy leads to various quality problems arising in the underlying data such as incompleteness, inconsistency and semantic ambiguities. In this article, we describe the current state of Data Quality in the Web of Data along with details of the three papers accepted for the International Journal on Semantic Web and Information Systems' (IJSWIS) Special Issue on Web Data Quality. Additionally, we identify new challenges that are specific to the Web of Data and provide insights into the current progress and future directions for each of those challenges.

Every varsity in Indonesia is responsible for ensuring the completeness, the validity, the accuracy, and the currency of its educational data. The educational data is used for implementing higher-education quality assurance system and formulating policies related to universities and majors in Indonesia. Data quality assessment result indicates that educational data in Statistics Polytechnic did not meet completeness, validity, accuracy, and currency criteria. Data quality management maturity has been measured using Loshin’s Data Quality Maturity Model which result is in level 1 to level 2 of maturity. Only the data quality dimensions component has achieved the expected target. Thus, recommendations have been proposed based on the DAMA-DMBOK framework. The activities needed to be carried out are developing and promoting awareness of data quality; defining data quality requirements; profiling, analyzing, and evaluating data quality; define business rules for data quality, establish, and evaluate the data quality services levels, manage problems related to data quality, design and implement operational procedures for data quality management, and monitor operations and performance of data quality management procedures.
