A study was carried out on three tractors of same make and model to know the realistic information on repair and maintenance cost which is directly dependent on the tractor utilization in various operations and handling by the operators for a period of eleven years, i.e., August, 1988 to July, 1999. All the studied tractors were purchased on same date. The tractors T1, T2 & T3 were operated for 5976 hours, 8168 hours and 9670 House, respectively. These tractors were mainly engaged for seed bed preparation, land development, threshing, /shelling and transportation purposes. The study suggests that an experienced and sincere driver can save the repair-maintenance cost and will also add in enhancing the life of tractor.

The article is aimed at creating a correct worldview about labor protection among engineering and technical workers of the agro-industrial complex engaged in the repair and maintenance of energy facilities. In our case, modern tractors and combines act as energy means. The main method is the analysis and conditions of operations for the repair and maintenance of tractors and combines, on the basis of which there is a need to properly organize the supervision of labor safety. As a result, the directions of work of the occupational safety specialist and the organization of his activities for the supervision of occupational safety have been developed and formulated, and the duties of engineering and technical workers in relation to this direction are also given. This article will be useful for masters and postgraduates studying the organization of maintenance and repair of tractors and combines, as well as engineering and technical workers of agro-industrial enterprises.

This study aims to examine attributes preferred by farmers of Parsa district for choosing four-wheel tractors. This study presents how farmers perceived their effectiveness based on common attributes of tractors like origin, brand, fuel consumption, horsepower, price, availability of spare parts, and their repair and maintenance. The study is quantitative and based on primary data. A non-probabilistic sampling technique was used with a sample size of 85. Conjoint analysis was applied to estimate part worth utility value, utility range and ranking the attributes of four-wheel tractor. The result show that farmers gave highest preference to fuel consumption with respect to highest utility value following horsepower, origin, price, availability of spare parts and repair and maintenance. Similarly, results show that branded and low-price tractor whose spare parts can be found easily in local market along with assured repair and maintenance facility available from authorised agency is preferred by farmers. Horsepower has been important attributes for tractorselection, where farmers are mostly preferring tractors having horsepower greater than 45 hp. This study findings will provide valuable tools and a basic framework for suppliers and manufacturers for evaluating their market efficiency and preparing strategies for promoting four-wheel tractors.

The paper presents and describes in detail the specific procedures that are carried out during the repair of the crawler unit on the belt wagon BRs 1200.29/32, whose performance is the basis for high quality and efficient maintenance of these machines on site, as well as in repair shops. These procedures are complex interventions performed as part of the preventive maintenance process. The success of the maintenance process is presented as a workflow with as few failures and downtime as possible, also as a process without accidents, and in case of their occurrence, the possibility of the fastest elimination, all of which result in the satisfaction of both users and maintainers.

Purpose. The purpose of the study is to optimize production processes and minimize maintenance costs for the machine-tractor park in agro-industrial production. Methods. The research is based on the calculations of maintenance point (MTP) productivity for mono-subject mono-technological specialization (specialized posts) and the theoretical provisions for the calculation of mono-subject poly-technological specialization (in a joint stream) developed by us. These provisions are developed for the given structure of the inter-repair cycle and normative average annual working hours of tractors. Various maintenance of HTZ tractors can be performed both in a common flow (poly-technological specialization) and on specialized MPT (mono-technological specialization), which are selected from pre-synthesized parametric series. Results. The development of multi-subject specialization, both multi-subject and poly-technological, is extremely important for ensuring effective processes of technical service and they are based on studies of the organizational-technological compatibility of technological processes (TPs). Organizational-technological compatibility (OTS) characterizes both necessary and sufficient conditions for combining different TPs of repair or maintenance in a common flow. Conclusions. It is more expedient to combine maintenance processes in a common flow, first of all, not on the basis of an objective feature – the similarity of the construction of tractors, but on a technological basis – the type of maintenance. A comparative analysis of all types of maintenance carried out at stationary posts in a joint flow gives reasons to recommend maintenance in a joint flow, when the number of HTZ-16131 tractors in the service area does not exceed 484 units, and their average service life is 1500 motos hours Keywords: HTZ tractors, maintenance, technological process, specialization, compatibility, post.

A survey has been undertaken to look into the causes of tractor breakdowns on field operations and the main constraints associated with repair and maintenance, and to recommend a solution to the problems in Riau Province. The owners of sixty-two small tractors were interviewed, from three regencies chosen of the Province in 2003. As a result, the working capacity of the tractors was relatively high and the average annual use was relatively low compared to the national average. Most tractor operators did not have sufficient skill to operate tractors. The tractor breakdowns resulted from operators’ mistakes, fuel and oil defilement, rough field conditions, poor maintenance, intense use, and factory design. Inadequate repair shops, a lack of spare parts, and a shortage of mechanics in the local vicinity were the main factors curbing tractor repair. It was also found that inadequate finances led many farmers to ignore tractor maintenance. These suggest that tractor operators should be well trained and tractor-supporting facilities should be provided in rural areas. A mechanical extension officer and credit options should be made available for farmers.

Abstract Maintenance plays an important role in reliability, availability, production quality, risk reduction, efficiency increasing, equipment security, etc. Therefore, maintenance strategies have a special position in industry. Simultaneously, effect of tractor power is considerable in agriculture; therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the probability of failure, repair time and causes of malfunctioning. Many variables, including cost, depreciation, breakdowns, annual performance, etc., have major impact on tselection of a maintenance strategy. Therefore, these variables were determined with the help of experts. Subsequently, these were clustered into several main criteria groups on the basis of factor analysis using SPSS software. Obtained results were used in a hierarchical structure to suggest the most appropriate maintenance strategy based on pair-wise comparison. According to the regional conditions and available facilities, results showed that the proactive maintenance strategy proved to be the best suggested option from four maintain strategies, namely emergency maintenance, proactive maintenance, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance.

The paper presents an approach for deriving a mathematical model that predict repair and maintenance (R&M) cost of farm tractors in The Gambia. As John Deere (JD) tractors are widely used by Gambian farmers, a study was conducted to predict accumulated repair & maintenance costs (Y) of the two-wheel drive (2WD) JD-5403 tractor based on accumulated working hours (X). In order to determine the mathematical model for the studied tractor, regression analysis using knowledge based analytical software (SPSS STATISTICS 21 and Excel 2016 version) was performed on the calculated data generating five regression models: linear, logarithmic, polynomial, power and exponential. The statistical results showed that the polynomial model gave better cost prediction with higher confidence and less variation than other models. Finally, it was established that repair and maintenance cost increased with an increase in working hours of JD-5403 tractor.

Abstract This work substantiates the rational structure of the repair and maintenance base of agricultural machinery, methods for determining the needs for material and technical means, taking into account the appropriate proportions between the links of the repair network. The maintenance and restoration of the operability of tractors and other agricultural machines in sufficient limits is ensured, as is known, with the help of a system of maintenance and repair, which provides for the implementation of preventive maintenance operations and the conduct of routine and major repairs of machines in a planned manner. The established system of maintenance and repair, the creation of a material and technical basis for its implementation, as well as a continuous process of improving the qualifications of machine operators and repair personnel, contribute to the effective use of equipment in agriculture. At the same time, there are significant disadvantages in the use of tractors and agricultural machines. The analysis of the results of numerous studies of VIMa, ChIMESXa and other organizations made it possible to identify and systematize the loss of time due to machine downtime. In particular, machine downtime for regulated maintenance is 10-15% of the shift time, for technical malfunctions - from 5-8% for plowing, up to 30% for harvesting crops. The volume of work on the repair of cars in the country as a whole is more than 2 times higher than the standard. The efficiency of maintenance and repair of machines largely depends on the level of the material and technical base of these works - the availability of modern equipment and tooling, industrial buildings, warehouses, and other structures, inventories, means of transport and communications.

The expansion of services and technological equipment applied to the agribusiness sector grows year after year, e.g., tractors and agricultural machinery, which use systems shipped with sophisticated software that collaborate to aid, and optimize activities in the field. Maintenance of agricultural machinery, including tractors, is routine in the life of any farmer, especially the preventive and corrective maintenance. In this paper, the objective was to evaluate an alternative for the use of diagnostic software in the prediction of failures that may occur in the tractor clutch system. In this study, the PicoScope6 software was used to identify the failures in this system, and then, using the predictive maintenance phase, was compared with classic maintenance methods, allowed for estimating the necessary repair time. Results showed that software identified more precisely the mechanical components that presented failures. From the identification of failure components, a list of repairs and exchanges was estimated, and, when compared to the list of components generated by inspection without diagnostic software, the repair time was reduced by 88%, and the cost of repair in up to 93%. The availability of the equipment also increased as a result of the shorter repair time, thus maximizing the machine time in the field.

Repair and maintenance cost is considered as one of important items for machinery management and selection. The present study was carried out in Dongola area for tractor repair and maintenance costs estimation. The data was collected from records of Elshimalya Company for Agricultural Inputs. Forty four tractors rep resenting two sizes of tractors, 75hp and 150hp used in the area were selected for this study. Based on the data collected, regression correlation analysis was carried out and mathematical models were derived to predict the accumulated repair and maintenance (R and M) costs as percent of purchase price in relation to accumulated hours of use and age (years) for each tractor size, and also for the two sizes collectively. Five model forms (linear, logarithmic, polynomial, power and exponential) were derived and the power function was found the best fit to explain the relation. The accumulated Rand M costs as percent of purchase price (Y) was increased as the accumulated hours of use (x) and age (g) of the tractor in years were increased. A high correlation was found between the accumulated R and M cost and both accumulated hours of use and tractor age in years (Average R2 = 0.93).

Harmonization of standards for modern methods of organization of maintenance and repair, advanced methods of service of agricultural machines (tractors, diesels, combines and others) updates the list of regulatory documents required for the certification of agricultural machinery. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in increasing the quality of repair, maintenance and work in the certification of tractors and agricultural machinery, taking into account new trends by clarifying the list of controlled indicators of technical and information compatibility in accordance with the priority areas of standardization, establishing a list of mandatory routine maintenance work in the certification of repair quality aimed at technical and environmental safety, as well as increasing the competitiveness of Russian goods in the domestic and regional markets. (Materials and methods) The specifics of the work consists in public discussion of draft standards and expertise by specialists of the engineering service and agricultural machinery, interested organizations and enterprises of the Russian Federation and organizations in the member states of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independent States and a detailed analysis of the proposals received. (Results and discussion) The article presents the final versions of the draft standards that meet the conditions of the current state of the machine-technical park and the engineering service of the agro-industrial complex. It summaries of reviews from organizations in Russia and the CIS countries; the draft final version of the standards will be sent for editing and approval to Rosstandart. (Conclusions) For the first time, the types, basic rules and technical requirements for carrying out the procedure for putting into repair and releasing from repair tractors, diesel engines, combines and other machines intended for field work were unified. The implementation of these requirements will improve the quality of repair, reliability and the inter-repair resource of the machine and tractor fleet of the agro-industrial complex.

Surface mining is the world’s most costly industry due to its enormous expenses. Reduced production is forcing mining companies to automate their equipment, predominantly heavy earth mining machinery (HEMMs), for example, dump trucks, shovels, and dozers. The backbone of pit mining is the crawler dozer, commonly known as a dozer. Crawler dozers are tracked earth-moving machines with metal blades positioned in front for pushing materials such as rocks, soil, etc. In order to survive the harsh competition, dozers must be durable and adequately maintained. Crawler dozers work under challenging conditions to avoid production delays that result in losses such as breakdowns, transmission failures, and other issues in mining operations. Transmission failures, among other issues with dozers, are one of the hardest to resolve. This study evaluates the reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) of a BD155 crawler dozer transmission using failure and repair data and the Markov method. A realistic case study on (BD155) transmission failure and associated subsystems has been performed. Potential approaches and alternatives are also identified to increase dependability and performance. This article also discusses best maintenance practices for minimizing transmission failures and boosting productivity. The availability of the BD155 increases to 71% from 62% using proper planning and maintenance.

Relevance. The efficiency of agricultural production largely depends on the technical condition of the agricultural machinery fleet. The technical condition, in turn, depends on many factors that determine the level of operation of the equipment. One of the most important factors determining the reliability of agricultural machinery, the cost of restoring and maintaining the working condition of agricultural machinery is the frequency of maintenance. As a result of studies conducted in the agricultural organizations of the region, it was revealed that engineering and technical services, when organizing maintenance and repair (TO and R), use canceled GOST, referring to the fact that domestic equipment, its reliability and performance are not able to recover when frequency of 125 hours. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the frequency of maintenance and repair on the preservation of the resource and the indicator of the rate of change of the resource, on the performance of the machine-tractor unit (MTA), on fuel consumption, on the costs of restoring and maintaining the working condition of agricultural tractors.Methods. The following methods were used in the study: normative, statistical, expert assessments, experimental, calculation-constructive, economic-mathematical methods. For the economic justification of the periodicity of technical impacts of agricultural machinery, statistical data from agricultural organizations were used, GOST regulating the maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery were used.Results. The maintenance and repair system, regulated by GOST 20793-2009, meets the requirements of technical and production operation of tractors. Traction properties of tractors are higher by 0.7%, specific fuel consumption during agricultural technological operations is lower by 0.5%, labor costs for maintaining and restoring technical readiness are lower by 13.8%.

Исследование проведено на одном из сельскохозяйственных предприятий Ярославской области. Техническая готовность техники зависит от множества субъективных и объективных факторов. В результате исследований авторами было выявлено восемь факторов, влияющих на техническую готовность тракторов (затраты на ремонт и техническое обслуживание (ТО) одного физического трактора за год, руб.; затраты на ТО на один эт. га в год, руб.; стоимость материально-технической базы (МТБ) по ремонту и ТО, приходящаяся на один эт. трактор, тыс. руб.; обеспеченность работающими механизаторами на 100 физических тракторов, чел.; наличие механизаторов, имеющих 1–3 классы квалификации, % к общему количеству; доля услуг предприятий сельхозтехники в затратах на ремонт и ТО, %; затраты на запасные части за один год на один эт. трактор, руб.; доля стоимости узлов и агрегатов при ремонте тракторов, %). Для описания процесса были использованы методы многофакторного корреляционного и регрессионного анализа. Выявлено, что наиболее существенное влияние на результативный признак (коэффициент технической готовности тракторов) оказывает величина затрат на ТО в расчёте на один эт. га в год и наличие механизаторов, имеющих 1–3 классы квалификации. Применение предложенной методики, по мнению авторов, обеспечит не только определение технического состояния агрегатов и механизмов, но и сократит время простоя техники, снизит затраты на ТО и технический ремонт, а также на расход запасных деталей и материалов и повысит производительность труда. The article analyzes the most significant factors affecting the technical readiness of tractors for work using mathematical and statistical modeling. The research was carried out at one of the agricultural enterprises of the Yaroslavl region. Technical readiness of machinery depends on many subjective and objective factors. As a result of the research the authors identified eight factors affecting the technical readiness of tractors (repair and maintenance costs (maintenance) of one physical tractor per year, Rub.; maintenance costs per reference unit ha per year, Rub.; the cost of the material and technical base (MTB) for repair and maintenance which is accounted for by reference tractor, RUB, in thousands; provision of working machine operators for 100 physical tractors, people; the presence of machine operators with 1–3 qualification classes, % of the total number; share of agricultural equipment services in repair and maintenance costs, %; service parts costs per year per reference tractor, Rub..; share of components and assemblies cost during tractor repair, %). Multifactor correlation and regression analysis techniques were used to describe the process. It was revealed that the most significant impact on the effective feature (tractor technical readiness factor) is the amount of maintenance costs calculated per reference ha per year and the presence of machine operators with 1–3 qualification classes. The application of the proposed technique according to the authors, will ensure not only the determination of the technical condition of units and mechanisms, but also reduce the out-of-service time of equipment, reduce maintenance and technical repair costs, as well as the consumption of spare parts and materials and increase labor productivity.

In this study, it is aimed to determine the technical and economical specifications of the used tractors put to sale in Tokat province and its districts, such as rated engine power, age, usage hours, tractor structure, maintenance and repair requirements and sale price. Also, it is intended to reveal the tendencies of farmers in tractor demand. The technical and economical specifications of used tractors in the second-hand tractor market in Tokat province and its districts has been analysed. For this purpose, all data has been collected from tractor owners through face-to-face interviews for a total of 408 tractors in 7 districts. According to the data, generally the tractors are standard type, and their age range is between 1 and 58. Based on the data collected from tractor owners, the average annual usage time of the tractors for Tokat is 268 hours, and the average rated power is 58.5 HP (43.6 kW). The remarkable sale reasons of used tractors are model obsolescence, insufficient capacity and need for cash respectively. In the second-hand tractor market, the age of the tractors, rated engine power, brand, usage hours and other technical specifications are primarily factors about pricing. Although 41% of the tractors in the sale have almost completed their lifespan, it has been determined that they can be preferred to some extent. It has been also revealed that tractors with very good service network and tractors that tractor owners can find buyers with the price that they want to sale are most common tractor types in the market. In addition, it is thought that the farmers’ awareness should be developed because they tend to make unconscious buying and selling decisions.

When organizing maintenance activities for domestic agricultural machinery, paper workflow continues to dominate, which negatively affects the performance indicators and the level of operational reliability of machines. The engineering services of domestic agricultural enterprises remain beyond automation and digitalization in matters of managing the technical service of machines. The low adaptation of existing software products to the specifics of domestic agricultural production prevents the adoption of automated CMMS and EAM systems used in other sectors to manage the reliability of equipment in operation. The authors developed software with a set of functions similar to the functionality of well-known CMMS systems. The software includes Agrokompleks ASUTO in combination with the previously developed Agrokompleks Resursy warehouse management software and Agrokompleks MTP fuel management software. The automated system data model is adapted to the needs of engineering workers responsible for the performance of agricultural machinery. A practical test of the system was carried out at an agricultural enterprise with a fleet of 25 tractors. The results obtained confirm the hypothesis that the automation of engineering activities contributes to an increase in the operational reliability of agricultural machinery and a decrease in the labor intensity of managing service processes. The use of the automated system resulted in a decrease in the time spent on maintenance management by 35 to 38%, the probability of tractors having operational failure - by 26%. At the same time, the probability of tractors being in working condition increased by 1.8%. The research could be useful for the developers of EAM systems for the maintenance and repair management of agricultural machinery.

The aims of this paper are to investigate the human resource performances at the workshop division in fixing damage tractors and to determine factors influencing their performances, and also to analyze the human resource performances on the plantation division in operating tractors to support the operation of sugarcane plantation. The survey method was conducted to collect primary data from the plantation and workshop divisions employees of PT Sweet Indo Lampung (PT SIL). Likert scale was applied to measure and determine variables of human resource performance and other relevant variables. Multiple linear regression models were used for the analysis measurement of human resources performances. The results show that human resource performances in the workshop and plantation divisions to operate tractors are in good category, but it still has to be improved. This includes the timelines to finish the work, obedience and loyalty of the employees, work planning and ability to manage the work. The factors that have positive influence on human resource performances are compensation, work environment, work relationship, and employee potential. The factor that has negative influence is expectation in developing performance. The longer time needed to repair the tractors was caused by the spare parts stock, number of mechanics that can handle the tractor, the workers skill and teamwork. Factors that cause damage on tractors are lack of maintenance, sloping area in sugar cane plantation, and lack of operators skill.

High quality and timely maintenance and repair (M&R) of mine electric excavators is crucial to minimizing the risks of failures. The article analyzes the significance of factors the influence the failure rate, including such factors as ergatic, technical, climatic, organizational and technological. The analysis showed the greatest criticality of ergatic, technical and climatic factors, with ergatic being the most important of them. The failure rating of mine excavators by the following systems is presented: working attachments, lifting gear, pressure mechanism, traveling gear, hydraulic system, rotation gear and electrical equipment. The most critical are the working attachments, lifting gear and pressure mechanisms, which make up 72%. The principles to design the concept of conscientious maintenance and repair practice (CM&R) are shown. The Fine-Kinney principle is applied in numerical estimation of the failure risks of mine excavators. Digitalization of target operations for electric crawler-mounted power shovels is proposed and a list of coded types of operations is presented for efficient accounting of the maintenance and repair works. The proposed coding system allows systematization of the MRO processes, providing control and their analysis during the whole operation period.

Annotation Purpose. Optimization terms of repair and maintenance works due to monitoring of the technical condition in mobile agricultural machinery on the basis statistical simulation using of its technical resource. Methods. System analysis and methods for statistical processing results of operational reliability tractors in experimental farms on NAAS. For the development statistical simulation models, discrete-event simulation, “Any Logic” simulation environment is provided. Results. The intensity using of mobile agricultural machinery during the year by the amount of fuel consumption is established, which makes it possible to plan the terms and scope of repair and maintenance works during the period of minimum load of equipment. The advantages strategy of adaptive maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery in comparison with the planning and warning system, which consist in determining the periods of repair and maintenance work, taking into account the intensity using mobile equipment and residual resource, which is basis for the development and implementation of operational management plans for its technical. Prerequisites for statistical simulation of the process of using the technical resource of mobile equipment are highlighted; the stages of establishment of its residual resource and appointment of terms of repair and maintenance works are defined. Conclusions. The economic effect on the results of research will be to monitor the technical state of mobile equipment, minimization of downtime for technical reasons during intense field work and effective use of technical resources maintaining a crop of potential losses by 8–10% due to the timely implementation processes. The amount of wear depends on the service life and operating conditions. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in searching for the most acceptable method for practical application of determining the optimal frequency of technical service to ensure high reliability and efficiency through reducing the intensity of wear of the interfaces of components, aggregates, mechanisms of the transport and technological machine; proposing coefficients for adjusting the frequency standards when planning and organizing maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery. (Materials and methods) The condition of the crankshafts of internal combustion engines at the operating time close to carrying out major repairs, 5000 hours (maintenance - 3) for tractors, 192,000 km and 150,000 km (routine repairs) for vehicles like KAMAZ and GAZ-3309. Authors applied the methods used to determine the optimal frequency of maintenance and repair, which characterize the quality of technical impacts. (Results and discussion) The article presents calculations performed to determine the maximum performance of the unit as part of a tractor with different maintenance intervals and an agricultural machine based on the use of a statistical method (according to the probability of failure). Authors found that the most acceptable method for determining the optimal frequency of technical impacts is the "unit cost" method. The article proposes coefficients for adjusting the frequency of technical impacts. (Conclusions) Determining the optimal frequency of technical impacts will minimize operating costs and prevent possible failures. To do this, it is necessary to choose an acceptable method that determines the optimal frequency and ensures minimal wear of the interfaces in the nodes, aggregates, mechanisms of transport and technological machines.

The optimization machinery model was developed to aid decision-makers and farm machinery managers in determining the optimal number of tractors, scheduling the agricultural operation and minimizing machinery total costs. For purpose of model verification, validation and application input data was collected from primary & secondary sources from Elsuki agricultural scheme for two seasons namely 2011-2012 and 2013-2014. Model verification was made by comparing the numbers of tractors of Elsuki agricultural scheme for season 2011-2012 with those estimated by the model. The model succeeded in reducing the number of tractors and operation total cost by 23%. The effect of optimization model on elements of direct cost saving indicated that the highest cost saving is reached with depreciation, repair and maintenance (23%) and the minimum cost saving is attained with fuel cost (22%). Sensitivity analysis in terms of change in model input for each of cultivated area and total costs of operations showing that: Increasing the operation total cost by 10% decreased the total number of tractors after optimization by 23% and total cost of operations was also decreased by 23%. Increasing the cultivated area by 10%, decreased the total number of tractors after optimization by(12%) and total cost of operations was also decreased by 12% (16669206 SDG(1111280 $) to 14636376 SDG(975758 $)). For the case of multiple input effect of the area and operation total cost resulted in decrease maximum number of tractors by 12%, and the total cost of operations also decreased by 12%. It is recommended to apply the optimization model as pre-requisite for improving machinery management during implementation of machinery scheduling.

The article presents a solution to the problem of choosing the brand composition of truck tractors for the recruitment of transport divisions of oil pipeline enterprises. The main task of transport departments is to meet the needs of the main production. The equipment is operated under harsh conditions, as well as after the end of the regulatory period of use and needs to be updated quickly. Despite the timely maintenance and repair of freight rolling stock, frequent failures and increasing repair costs make further operation economically inefficient. When updating the fleet of vehicles, there is a problem in choosing the best in terms of the technical characteristics of the vehicle, but at the minimum cost. The purpose of the study is to optimize the costs of acquiring and operating special equipment of Transneft-Siberia JSC by developing a methodology for determining the rational grade composition of truck tractors. According to the a priori ranking method, the opinion of specialists and heads of transport divisions of Transneft-Siberia JSC was determined. For the study, the most popular brands of truck tractors of domestic and foreign production were chosen. As a result of the survey, the ranks of operational indicators of truck tractors and their weight are determined by the reverse ratio. The most signifi¬cant indicator as a result of a priori ranking is the cost of one unit of the vehicle. Integral coefficient components calculated relative to average value of each indicator are identified for each indicator. As a result of the study, it was revealed that for the renewal of the fleet of truck tractors, it is advisable to give preference mainly to foreign manufacturers. The integral factor, taking into account the weight of operational parameters, makes it possible to objectively evaluate the quality of truck tractors. The method of determining the integral coefficient is proposed, when using which it is possible to reduce the cost of acquiring and operating vehicles with an increase in the development of special equipment. Further areas of research are determination of integral factors for the fleet, including technological transport, as well as determination of the optimal nomenclature of special equipment for transport divisions of oil pipeline industry enterprises.

In 2009, the National Route 1 Section 1 between km 56.1 and km 61.5, located North East of Paarl in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, was rehabilitated and widened. As part of the rehabilitation and widening contract the downhill truck crawler lane was constructed as an experimental pavement section. This experimental pavement section was constructed with a 50 mm thick Ultra-Thin Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (UTCRCP). Early in 2010 sections of the experimental UTCRCP started to fail and consequently necessitated repair. In October 2014 a service provider was appointed for the special maintenance of the truck crawler lane on the National Route 1 Section 1. The project called for the reinstatement of the failed experimental UTCRCP with a re-engineered UTCRCP and a Enrobé à Module Élevé (EME) asphalt base layer with an Ultra-Thin Friction Course (UTFC), at various locations along the southbound (downhill) truck crawler lane. The project objective was specifically formulated to enable a long term performance comparison of both the re-engineered UTCRCP and the EME with UTFC under repeated traffic loading. The focus of this paper is the documentation and assessment of the initial pavement (structural analysis) and material design process, the construction of the UTCRCP, with cognizance of the challenges experienced during construction as well as the initial performance comparison. EME will not be discussed in this paper.

The efficiency of the use of high-energy tractors in agriculture is largely determined by the level of preparation for field work, which in turn depends on the completeness of the repair and maintenance work. Various diagnostic tools are used for a non-selective assessment of the general technical condition of internal combustion engines: motor testers, crankcase gas flow meters, etc. Currently, there are no means to assess the technical condition of the gearbox without breaking the power flow. The development of digital diagnostic tools is required to reduce the risk of failures during field work. (Research purpose) The research purpose is studying the state of the issue and justifying the need to develop a coefficient for a non-selective assessment of the general technical condition of the hydraulic transmission control drive of high-energy tractors. (Materials and methods) Carried out an analysis of the complex of works on diagnosing and managing the reliability of agricultural machinery. It was found that it is necessary to control the time of the transient process in the hydraulic control system of the gearbox, as well as accelerations during gear shifting. We reviewed the previously manufactured control and diagnostic equipment. The KI-12383 and "Effect-02.01" devices were chosen as a prototype for the development of a digital indicator. (Results and discussion) We conducted a simulation, designed and tested a prototype and proved the possibility of developing a digital indicator that can be used as an integrated diagnostic tool to justify the need for repair and maintenance effects of the gearbox. (Conclusions) To monitor the general technical condition of the gearbox, a digital indicator is needed, which will allow, without making changes to the design (K-701, T-150K and their modern analogues), to obtain diagnostic data to substantiate repair and maintenance impacts in order to reduce the risks of failures of the III complexity group during field work.

Based on the methodology for calculating the coefficient of concordance for each group of factors, as a measure of the consistency of a group of experts, priority factors are identified that affect the operation of the tractor fleet. Experts of farms and workers of agricultural departments of Russia took part in the examination, namely: Kaluga region, Kostroma region, Tula region, Yaroslavl region and other organizations. Abstract The operation of farm machinery requires an operator with better operational and technical skills to ensure efficient and effective use of the machinery. These competences are necessary to avoid breakdowns during field operations that can affect machine operating costs. This research aims to evaluate the operators’ competence in the operation and maintenance of farm machinery. Field surveys were conducted in three regencies of the Riau Province, namely Kampar, Indragiri Hulu, and Siak regencies. 63 machine operators were purposively selected and interviewed using structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using the descriptive-quantitative technique. The type of farm machines operated by the operators in the province included two-wheel tractors, four-wheel tractors, water pumps, rice transplanters, power threshers, combine harvesters, and rice milling units. Most operators can operate more than one type of farm machine. The competency of most operators to repair farm machinery is very poor because of a lack of training. Most operators get skills in machine operators from self-learning and other operators (friends). Therefore, the results suggest that machine operators must be well-trained in operational and technical skills, especially in the excellent operation and proper maintenance of farm machines, to avoid machine damage during field operation.

The paper highlights the imperative for the maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery. (Research purpose) The research aims to undertake a retrospective analysis illuminating the evolution and establishment of the machine repair system. This analysis spans from the production of the inaugural Soviet tractor to the advancement and production of contemporary machinery and equipment. (Materials and methods) The paper analyses publications from different periods focused on the challenges surrounding the establishment of a centralized system for the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment across all stages of agricultural production development. (Results and discussion). The paper sheds the light on the dynamics of tractor production in the early 1930s, detailing the transition from reliance on imports to the utilization of domestic agricultural machinery in the local market, alongside the phases involved in establishing a domestic repair service system. Furthermore, it explores the evolution of repair workshops at machinery technological stations from 1928 to 1957 and outlines the structuring of a repair depot within the enterprises of the All-Union Association «Soyuzselkhoztekhnika» between 1961 and 1990. Effective use of machines largely depends on timely and high-quality maintenance and repair. Due to the increase in the volume of restoration of units and aggregates at specialized enterprises, an opportunity was created in the workshops of farms and collective farms to more widely apply the aggregate method of restoration and repair. Improving the organization of centralized restoration of damaged parts makes it possible to restore tens of millions hryvnas worth of parts in a year. The organization of centralized delivery of material and technical means to farms is applied using the services of equipping farms with the necessary equipment in assembled, adjusted and run-in form. Increasing the level of concentration of repair production, deepening its specialization will allow to significantly improve the quality of repair, to bring the resource of repaired machines, tractors, combines and aggregates up to 80%. Before repairing driven discs of clutches of tractors, cars, combines, to replace friction linings, it is necessary to carry out operations of drilling, riveting and knocking off old linings. These operations require a lot of labor and the use of additional tools, which leads to significant capital investments. The paper proposes a device for cutting the fastenings of the friction linings of the driven clutch discs. Taking into account the conditions of agricultural enterprises, which have repair workshops, and the presence of vertical boring and milling machines, it is proposed to organize their use for the operation of removing worn friction linings. For riveting of friction linings of driven clutch discs, the development of a hydraulic stand is proposed, which can be made from standard units in the workshops of agricultural enterprises. Using this stand will make it possible to increase labor productivity when performing this operation and reduce its time.

Agricultural mechanization is the realization of agricultural activities by using energy together with agricultural tools and machines. Due to the inadequate maintenance planning of agricultural machinery, agricultural machinery cannot be utilized at the desired level in agricultural production. Most agricultural equipment is subject to frequent changes in speed and direction of movement while operating. Damage that can be seen on a single machine; It also causes other machines to malfunction. During the year, especially in the months when agricultural activity is high, excessive working tempo can cause tractors to malfunction. The breakdown of tractors causes disruptions in agricultural activities. In addition, the breakdown of tractors increases the repair costs. Since there is no tractor maintenance planning, farmers face interruptions in agricultural activities due to tractor malfunction. However, tractor malfunctions may cause cost and economic losses. For these reasons, there is a need for appropriate maintenance planning of agricultural machinery in order to continue agricultural activities without disruption. Maintenance planning; It consists of a set of preventive activities to improve the reliability and availability of any system. The main purpose of this study is to determine and rank the importance level weights of the criteria that are important for agricultural machinery maintenance planning using the fuzzy AHP method. Fuzzy AHP method, which provides ease of application, was preferred in determining the Criterion Weights. The research proposes a framework to determine the weights of appropriate criteria for care planning selection through a combined approach of fuzzy multi-criteria decision making involving relevant stakeholders. On the basis of the prioritization of criteria of tractor maintenance planning (TMP), it was found from the ranking that checking for all fluid levels (TMP1) ranked first. This respectively is followed by checking for general conditions (TMP4), checking for tires and wheels (TMP2) and checking for batteries (TMP3). With the results of the study, a guide was created for farmers and other stakeholders, as well as decision makers, to help plan the maintenance of machines in better working conditions. It is also thought that this study will be encouraging for other studies.

Revision of GOST 20793-2009 standard updates the list of normative documents required for certification of agricultural machinery and will contribute to the improvement of methods of organization of maintenance of modernized tractors and agricultural machines, will allow using modern methods of increasing of their resource. (Research purpose) The research purpose is increasing the efficiency of maintenance of agricultural and forestry tractors and other self-propelled agricultural machines in their operation by optimizing the periods of work, the implementation of express control of lubricating oils, the use of built-in diagnostic systems, organoleptic diagnosis by quality characteristics, as well as the introduction in motor and transmission oil of repair friction components using a special technology. (Materials and methods) The authors noted the need for examination of the draft standard by specialists of the engineering service of the agro-industrial complex and agricultural machinery and a detailed analysis of the comments and suggestions received during development of the final version of the draft standard. The draft standard of the first edition was sent for feedback to specialists, interested organizations and enterprises of the Russian Federation, as well as organizations of neighboring countries. (Results and discussion) Authors have reviewed the comments and suggestions; accepted all editorial comments; agreed bibliographic references and aligned the units of measurement; prepared the final version of the GOST 20793 project, corresponding to the conditions of the current state of the machine-technical park and engineering service of the agro-industrial complex. Authors have sent the draft of the final version for editing and approval to Rosstandart. (Conclusion) The introduction of the improved standard will contribute to improving the efficiency and increasing the service life of worn-out units of agricultural machines, reducing the cost of their technical operation. For the first time, the types and basic rules of the maintenance procedure were unified. The implementation of the requirements of the standard will build the processes of work in the field of production and distribution of products and certification, improve the efficiency of technical service in the agro-industrial complex, resource reliability and efficiency of the machine and tractor fleet.

The ways of energy saving in air heating of cabins of mobile machinery (tractors, trucks, harvesters) and production facilities are discussed. It is shown that in the cabins of mobile machines with a relatively small volume with no exhaust ventilation to reduce energy consumption for heating, while regulating temperature at workplace and relative humidity, is to use partial recirculation of treated air. Specific recommendations for the heating of the mobile machine cabins, which is characterized by basic parameters such as thermal performance, air flow and temperature are given. It was found that the partial recirculation of the treated air in the cabin of the mobile machine has allowed to reduce energy consumption for heating in 1.94 times and provided on working place of operator normalizable relative humidity without any additional units for humidification. It is shown that in areas of larger volume, where maintenance and repair is carried out in the presence of local exhaust ventilation, standard for relative humidity could be provided only with humidifier. Thus in order to reduce energy consumption for heating it is necessary to dispose the exhaust air heat flow to preheat the incoming air using the heat exchanger-recuperator provided with an exhaust air dryer to avoid freezing of apparatus at low ambient temperature conditions. The filler of drying unit could be silica gel as water absorption by silica gel is accompanied by increasing treated air temperature and in the heating system it leads to energy consumption and is a positive characteristic.

The pre-1953 repair laboratories were not powerful enough to solve the growing problems. In 1953, it was decided to establish The State Union Research Institute for the Repair and Operation of Tractors and Agricultural Machinery. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in describing the history of GOSNITI establishment, analyzing the tasks and results of the Institute's activities over the first decade. (Materials and methods) The article presents the base of the new Institute and its quantitative composition. The article describes the main objectives of the Institute and its activities. (Results and discussion) Work was carried out to create self-moving workshops for filling filters, electric brake stands, stands for testing fuel equipment, equipment for vibration contact surfacing. The calculations of the repair base for the regions were carried out. The article presents the list of works that were widely implemented in the national economy and the list of publications of technical documentation. GOSNITI was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on May 25, 1967, for implementing the system and advanced technology for repairing cars. (Conclusions) The staff of the established Institute successfully completed the tasks set in the first decade.

In the regions of the country, where a sharp decrease in technical equipment has been stabilized, there is a decrease in the number of machines that have developed a standard service life. (Research purpose) The research purpose is assessing the operational reliability of agricultural machinery taking into account the regional features of the maintenance system, capital repairs and modernization of machinery. (Materials and methods) It was noted that in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a program is being implemented to subsidize the costs of agricultural producers for capital repairs and modernization of equipment, which has significantly increased the availability factor of tractors and combines while increasing their standard service life. (Results and discussion) It was established that the operational reliability of agricultural machinery is largely ensured taking into account the regional characteristics of the maintenance and repair system, which is determined by the leading and coordinating role of the regional Ministry of Agriculture in the field of state support for the technical service system of agricultural machinery, scientific, technical and personnel policy. The directions of activity of the engineering service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan have been identified: subsidizing technical service enterprises; development of tools and technologies for maintenance and repair (import substitution); coordination of work for the serial production of new types of equipment; organization of interaction with industrial enterprises; search and development of constructive solutions to improve the design of components and assemblies; creation of zonal service centers by dealers in the territory of supervised regions; advanced training and retraining of engineering personnel; creation of a systematic catalog database data on tractor parts and mobile agricultural machinery; the development of the secondary market and the trade-in system of agricultural machinery. Mechanization of labor on small farms and individual farms is a very important issue of modern agriculture. The use of small agricultural machinery with a capacity of up to 16 kW is quite relevant today. Small-sized machinery is divided into: small 4-wheeled tractors, 2-wheeled motoblocks, cultivators, machines and equipment. With the help of this technique perform various agricultural and other types of work in crop production, horticulture, gardening on small plots, livestock and more. Despite its rather small size, small equipment also has various mechanisms that fail over time. Most often, the parts of the internal combustion engine fail. In general, the cost of repairing the internal combustion engine during operation may exceed the total cost of the engine by 5-6 times. Thus, there is a question of improving the system of technical service of engines of small tractors. This article considers the issue of increasing the efficiency of operation of internal combustion engines for small tractors, due to the effective conduct of after-sales or post-repair running-in and improving the maintenance system. Types of small-sized equipment are presented. The analysis of possible loading and speed modes of cold and hot running-in of internal combustion engines and means for their realization is carried out. Technical means for running-in and testing of internal combustion engines are analyzed. The following formulas are given for determination: smoke of exhaust gases at running-in of engines; light transmission of exhaust gases; speed control range; load torque; the content of harmful substances (Q) in the exhaust gases on the j-th components. The necessity of bench running-in of engines of small-sized agricultural machinery is substantiated. The functional scheme of the stand for running-in and testing of internal combustion engines is considered. The stages of cold and hot running-in of small-sized engines are described. With the help of the received information, the results are made and the analysis of methods of running-in of internal combustion engines of small-sized agricultural machinery is carried out.

The article presents results of the reliability study of controlled groups of vehicles possessed by two road transport enterprises working in the international transport sector (truck tractors – VOLVO FH 1242Т – 50 unit and MERCEDES-BENZ 1844 ACTROS LS -100 units, semi-trailers SCHMITZ, KRONE and KÖGEL – 50 units from each of the semi-trailers company). Possibilities for reliability increasing and reduction of the maintenance and repair cost are defined. The results of the reliability evaluation of vehicles during three years of operation with a different annual run (from brand new up to 440·103 km, including warranty period) are presented. Based on the conducted studies of failures and details malfunctions, units and systems of the vehicles, the average operating time to failure or occurrence of malfunctioning, the probability of failure-free operation, and the time spent on repairs were determined. Asymmetric graphs of working capacity disturbance were obtained, which allowed determining the level of const uction design perfection, the technological accuracy of equipment assembly and the quality of fastening works. The inadequate adaptability to operate on the roads of the CIS was reflected by symmetric distribution laws. The least reliable aggregate and assembly elements were identified.

The issues of assessing the increase in the efficiency of domestic agricultural machinery according to the criteria of suitability for maintenance and diagnostics and the development of measures to improve it are relevant, as they have a significant impact on the reliability and total cost of ownership and resource of saving during operation. It should be noted that not only the costs of maintenance and repair, but also the time spent in an inoperative state, technical readiness, productivity and other indicators of the efficiency of use for its intended purpose, including resource-saving impacts, depend on the level of equipment adaptability. The purpose of the research was to describe the state of the issue and justify the need to develop information and diagnostic tools for assessing the general technical condition of energy-intensive tractors. The analysis and description of the developed tools for diagnosing agricultural machinery have been done in the work. Similar control and diagnostic equipment produced by third-party manufacturers for agricultural machinery was considered. The distinctive features of our own developments were determined and the need to diagnose specific parameters was also reflected. As a result of the work 3D modeling of the device data was carried out. Then they were designed in special software and the first prototypes were assembled. The tests have proven the possibility of developing such digital diagnostic of device. The data obtained on the base of their effectiveness was reflected and justified. A number of improvements to these systems have been proposed. The results of the operation of all information and diagnostic devices were summed up. Further development of this area of work has been proposed for more modern and high-quality maintenance of units and assemblies of agricultural machinery.

The conducted systematic analysis of maintainability indicators allows establishing their connection with other reliability properties and classifying these indicators according to technical and economic criteria. On this basis, the technological component of maintenance and repair, which ensures the provision of spare parts, tools and means of technical condition control, was selected and investigated. Set of indicators that allow to evaluate and standardize the maintainability of means of transport most fully and in accordance with modern requirements is proposed.The dependence was obtained for determining the required number of tools in a set of spare parts, tools and accessories (STA), which takes into account the reliable characteristics of the machine and the characteristics of the process of restoring its operability under real operating conditions.The approach to calculations of rational sets of tool equipment for vehicle machinery is proposed on the example of the chassis of the domestic wheeled tractor KhTZ-17221, the corresponding calculations are performed. The conducted analysis shows that with the existing service system and the level of reliability of the KhTZ-17221 tractors in real operation conditions to ensure the readiness factor within 0.85-0.95, the presence of tools in the equipment kit has a significant impact.The analysis of the obtained dependence shows that in order to quickly eliminate the consequences of the failures of the KhTZ-17221 tractors, it is necessary to have a complete set of tools in the set of STA, provided for in the operating instructions. Otherwise, the operative time for eliminating failures increases, which leads to unjustified downtime of equipment and increased costs for consumers, especially during periods of agricultural work. When increasing the number of tools in the kit of STA to the level regulated by the factory documentation, while maintaining all other parameters, it is possible to increase the readiness factor in real operation from 0.84 to 0.92. That is, the presence of tools significantly increases the efficiency of vehicles using in real operation conditions.The obtained results can be used to improve maintainability indicators

The information on the history of the mathematical apparatus to the method of reli-ability control machines to minimize the total unit costs of maintenance and repair, taking into account the costs of downtime of faulty machines are presented. (Research purpose) The approbation of the express method of substantiation for diagnostic and structural pa-rameters of machine elements and analysis of the results of the development, production and implementation of MTP diagnostic tools in the agricultural sector of the USSR. (Materials and methods) We have analyzed the achievements of the GOSNITI teams, other research institutes and universities of the country, the engineering service of agriculture, statistical data on the production and use of diagnostic tools for tractors and cars. (Results and dis-cussion) The article reviews universal approach by V. M. Mikhlin of feasibility study of permissible values of resource and diagnostic parameters. The article notes that the Finnish mathematicians implemented it in the universal computer program TURBO-NEK, which al-lows optimizing the permissible values of diagnostic and structural parameters of machine elements, other characteristics in the organization of technical operation of machines. We have tested the express method of calculation of permissible values of structural and diag-nostic parameters taking into account the real rates of change in the values of parameters in operation. We have described the engineering and calculation method of limiting and per-missible parameters of diesel engines, their parts and interfaces in the guidance technical material of 10.16.0001.008-89 as a result of thirty-five years of work of the repair laborato-ry of GOSNITI. We have considered the results of the creation and implementation of diag-nostic equipment, aspects of scientific, technical and organizational difficulties in its devel-opment, production, movement and use. (Conclusion) We have prepared proposals for the resuscitation of diagnostics of the machine and tractor fleet of the agro-industrial complex for the coming period. In addition to the parameters measured by built-in and external means of control, it was proposed to legalize the equal use of organoleptic control of the state of machines, for which a wealth of experience has been accumulated.
