Streszczenie:
Abstract The paper starts with reflections on Plato’s critique of the poets and the preference many express for Aristotle’s view of poetry. The second part of the paper takes a case study of analytic treatments of ancient philosophy, including the ancient philosopher poets, to examine the poetics of analytic philosophy, diagnosing a preference in Analytic philosophy for a clean non-poetic style of presentation, and then develops this in considering how well historians of philosophy in the Analytic tradition can accommodate the contributions of philosophers who wrote in verse. The final part of the paper reviews the current enthusiasm for decoding Empedocles’ vague and poetic descriptions of the cosmic cycle into a precise scientific periodicity on the basis of the recently discovered Byzantine scholia on Aristotle. I argue that this enthusiasm speaks to a desire for definite and clear numerical values in place of poetic motifs of give and take, and that this mathematical and scientific poetic is comparable to the preferred poetic of analytic philosophy.

Streszczenie:
I was very excited to get my hands on what was promising to be a magnificent and extremely helpfulHandbook of Rhetorical Studies, and my expectations were matched – and exceeded! This handbook contains no less than sixty contributions written by eminent experts and is divided into six parts. Each section opens with a brief orientation essay, tracing the development of rhetoric in a specific period, and is followed by individual chapters which are organized thematically. Part I contains eleven chapters on ‘Greek Rhetoric’, and the areas covered are law, politics, historiography, pedagogy, poetics, tragedy, Old Comedy, Plato, Aristotle, and closing with the Sophists. Part II contains thirteen chapters on ‘Ancient Roman Rhetoric’, which similarly covers law, politics, historiography, pedagogy, and the Second Sophistic, and adds Stoic philosophy, epic, lyric address, declamation, fiction, music and the arts, and Augustine to the list of topics. Part III, on ‘Medieval Rhetoric’, covers politics, literary criticism, poetics, and comedy; Part IV, on the Renaissance contains chapters on politics, law, pedagogy, science, poetics, theatre, and the visual arts. Part V consists of seven essays on the early modern and Enlightenment periods and is decidedly Britano-centric: politics, gender in British literature, architecture, origins of British Enlightenment rhetoric, philosophy (mostly British, too), science, and the elocutionary movement in Britain. With Chapter 45 we arrive at the modern age section (Part VI), with two chapters on feminism, one on race, and three on the standard topics (law, political theory, science), grouped together with those on presidential politics, New Testament studies, argumentation, semiotics, psychoanalysis, deconstruction, social epistemology, and environment, and closing with digital media. The volume also contains a glossary of Greek and Latin rhetorical terms. As the editor states in his Introduction, the aim of the volume is not only to provide a comprehensive history of rhetoric, but also to enable those interested in the role of rhetoric in specific disciplines or genres, such as law or theatre and performance, to easily find those sections in respective parts of the book and thus explore the intersection of rhetoric with one specific field in a chronological sequence.

Michel Serres is well known as a strong advocate of science becoming a way of life. As a contribution to the growing literature seeking to address the Anthropocene, this article develops how we could relate the strong and underlying motif of quantum optics that is at work throughout Serres’s oeuvre, and the implications Serres exposes in terms of a natural philosophy (Bühlmann 2020), through what the author sees as the quantum literacy of a world poetics of the current present. Such a literacy is literacy for which the constitutive relation for theoretical thought—between light, vision, and speculation—turns into an intellectual and yet material and physical power. Such a literacy would be an impersonal kind of literacy, a literacy for which poetics, mathematics, and the sciences are inextricably linked in the domain of what is here called—in distinction to atom time—atomic time.

This article seeks to promote a meeting between Heidegger's philosophical thinking and the poetics of Augusto dos Anjos. Heidegger's thinking, at a time called turning, departs from the terminology of phenomenology and hermeneutics. The proposition of the philosopher, henceforth, begins to turn to language and to be called the topology of being. Therefore, the work of art, with special emphasis on poetry, is the source from which the unveiling and the revelation of world and earth, in the Heideggerian terms, spring forth. Based on this understanding, a study was made of Heidegger's contributions to existential phenomenology, with emphasis on the second moment of his production or path. From then on, it appeared necessary to tangentiate the singularity of Augustus of the Angels, expressed in his history and his poetics, in dialogue with Heidegger's philosophical thought. Augustus of the Angels rescues the world in its pure state and language as a possibility of meaning. In a convergent direction, Heidegger walks toward the unveiling of the Being, which occurs in the face of the anguish of existence and the extreme possibility of non-being, in the face of its being-to-death condition. The dialogue between the philosopher and the poet was thought provoking and fruitful.

Abstract: Whereas mainstream theories of environmental art and sustainable development consider art as a domain suitable for the application of environmentally friendly procedures, such as the circular economy, trash management and digitization, this research article focuses on the internal development of the autopoetic and selfreferential art machine, which generates an art-specific sustainability. The circular environmental economy coexists with the circular art economy, which implies changes in the aesthetics and poetics of the artwork; it deploys upcycling to use art trash in creating a new, higher value object. Art-specific sustainability contributes to the power and complexity of the art machine with new conceptual interventions and devices. These devices allow art to resist threats from other fields and to redefine itself. As sustainable development agendas of international organizations take into account the social, political, and economic initiatives that promote ethics, inclusion, and tolerance, this article discusses the contributions of contemporary environmental art to expanded concepts of the political and science. In particular, art activism, in cooperation with civil society, can be an important driver in areas that parliamentary politics overlooks.

The review provides an outline of the collective monograph The Philosophy of Rhythm: Aesthetics, Music, Poetics, edited by Peter Cheyne, Andy Hamilton and Max Paddison, published by Oxford University Press, 2019. Concept of rhythm is analysed from different perspectives—philosophical, musicological and psychological. It considers a multidisciplinary approach and also includes both analytic and continental philosophical traditions. Rhythm is viewed as a pulse that is going through various metric structures including particular pieces of music, paintings, examples of poetry and philosophy. Twenty eight authors from the entire world discuss rhythm and specify definitions of rhythm. They try to give answers on crucial questions uniting experienced rhythm in philosophy and arts, thus giving an important contribution to rhythm studies. The book is organised thematically and based on different aspects of rhythm manifestations. The main questions of the research are as follows: How is rhythm experienced? Does rhythm necessarily involve movement? Why rhythm is so deeply rooted in human? How can static configurations be rhythmic? How does a rhythmic structure change from a stable pattern to a flexible texture? All these questions concern two interwoven issues common for the volume in general: immanence of rhythm to arts and human experience of it.

Streszczenie:
Although the works of three early Italian Renaissance poets, Brunetto Latini (1220-1294), Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), and Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375), may seem far removed from the social science ventures of the 21st century, these three Italian authors provide some exceptionally valuable materials for scholars interested in the study of human knowing and acting. As central participants in the 13th-14th century “humanist movement” (in which classical Greek and Latin scholarship were given priority in matters of intellectual development), Brunetto Latini, Dante Alighieri, and Giovanni Boccaccio helped sustain an analytic focus on human lived experience. Most of the materials addressed here are extensively fictionalized, but our interests are in the sociological insights that these authors achieve, both in their accounts of the characters and interchanges portrayed in their texts and in their modes of presentation as authors. Although lacking the more comprehensive aspects of Chicago-style symbolic interactionist (Mead 1934; Blumer 1969) theory and research, these early Renaissance texts are remarkably self-reflective in composition. Thus, these statements provide us with valuable insights into the life-worlds of (a) those of whom the authors speak, (b) those to whom the authors address their works, and (c) the authors themselves as people involved in generating aspects of popular culture through their poetic endeavors. More specifically, these writers enable us to appreciate aspects of pragmatist emphases on human knowing and acting through their attentiveness to people’s perspectives, speech, deliberation, action, and interaction. In addressing affective relationships, introducing generic standpoints, and considering morality as community matters, these materials offer contemporary scholars in the social sciences some particularly instructive transhistorical and transcultural comparative and conceptual reference points. Inspired by the remarkable contributions of the three 13th-14th century Italian poets and some 12th- 13th century French predecessors, the Epilogue direct specific attention to the ways in which authors might engage poetic productions as “producers” and “analysts” of fictionalized entertainment.

Maurycy Mochnacki’s comparative thought is to be seen in the context of pioneering refl ections that constitute the modern, post-Kantian comparative approach. In order to evaluate Mochnacki’s contribution, one cannot limit it to the opposition between national and foreign literatures, or what is universal and classical versus what is regional and romantic. Mochnacki developed concepts and methods that made it possible to analyze and understand romantic works without referring to classical criteria and rules, which were successively repeated in normative poetics, but were less and less relevant. His extensive, innovative comparative analyses of romantic works were very original in the Polish context. He employed the concepts of „reality” and „ideality,” borrowed from German philosophy, as the main criteria of comparative readings.

Streszczenie:
The article considers the second edition of Volodymyr Vynnychenko’s novel “The New Commandment” (1947), written for the first time in 1932. The author of the book translated it into French together with his wife after the end of World War II. The purpose of the work and the tasks dictated by it are to analyse the “French” novel “The New Commandment” by Volodymyr Vynnychenko in the paradigm of modernist aesthetics, to reveal the main philosophical ideas and aesthetic functions of the novel, to identify elements of intertextual memory, and to understand the influence of the book by Ukrainian dissident Viktor Kravchenko “I Chose Freedom” (1946). The set of goals determines the need to use hermeneutical (analysis of artistic text), comparative-typological (comparison of philosophical novel various functions), historical-literary (solution of a number of literary problems in the context of various national literatures) research methods. Vynnychenko’s work is analysed in the paradigm of the “Transcendent Homelessness” philosophical concept, introduced into scientific discourse by the Hungarian philosopher and literary theorist D. Lukach in his Hegelian-Weber essay “The Theory of the Novel” (1916), where he quotes the German romantic, a representative of the Jena school, Novalis: “Philosophy is homesickness – the desire to be at home everywhere”. In the study of Volodymyr Vynnychenko’s contribution to European modernism in the interwar era, the author pays attention to the key thesis of the trans-cultural theory, which touches such disciplines as anthropology, sociology and political science. Particular attention is paid to the genesis and specificity of the philosophical and figurative system of one of the key “French” texts by Volodymyr Vynnychenko. The leading aesthetic components and means of forming philosophical and ideologicalpolitical paradigms of the work are also determined. The French aristocracy had a great debate on “The New Commandment”. In April 1949, the translation was published in one of the Paris publishing houses (Nouveau Commandemant. Paris: Editions des Presses du Temps Present). The French literary critics of the time responded favourably to the publication of the Ukrainian author’s book, and the literary and artistic society “Club de Faubourg” already on 10th May 1949, arranged a massive discussion of “The New Commandment”, which testified to the approving attitude towards the author. At the same time, another well-known French artist club “Arts-Sciences-Lettres”, awarded Volodymyr Vynnychenko with an honorary diploma and a silver medal. On 21st July 1949, the prestigious Parisian weekly bulletin “Le Nuvelle Litterere” responded to this fact where noticed that after Shevchenko and Marko Vovchok, Volodymyr Vynnychenko is the first Ukrainian writer whose novels have been responded to by French audience. In this regard, it is noted that the philosophical foundations of Vynnychenko’s novel organically fit into the “spiritual crisis” European discussions of those times. We have studied philosophical character manifestation peculiarities in the genre of novel-dialogue, novel-polemic, which are widely represented in the “French” prose of the Ukrainian artist and are closely connected with the French literary tradition. It is proved that, having spent almost the last thirty years of his life in France, the Ukrainian writer seems to aim at identifying common thematic, aesthetic, philosophical and ideological paradigms that go beyond mononational boundaries, and demonstrates that Ukrainian emigrant artists were participants in pan-European literary modernism, although for the most part it concerns Volodymyr Vynnychenko himself, as well as Yu. Kosach, I. Kostetskyi, A. Arkhipenko, A. Ekster, A. Manevich, I. Pune, A. Boguslavskaya, M. Glushchenko. Particular attention is paid to the genre experiment of Vynnychenko, in particular, the philosophical and political novel with such poetic features as the presentation and discussion of concordist theory, the use of such a modernist technique as “a novel within a novel”, the constant inclusion of various discursive forms of concordism discussion. The critical optics of the study combines the historical and philosophical specificity of the era of the interwar twenties, on which the novels of Volodymyr Vynnychenko are based, as well as the national identity of the Ukrainian writer and his biographical individuality.

This thesis proposes to explore the texts that Henri Lefebvre (1901-1991) devoted to his project of understanding rhythms, his « rhythmanalysis », a term borrowed from Gaston Bachelard, to contribute to what we call an urban poetics. Henri Lefebvre has produced fundamental work in contemporary urban studies in both his theorization of the advent of modern urban society, and his elaboration of a critical theory of urban planning with its resultant social spaces and temporalities. We show that this critical theory unfolds in line with his construction of a poetics, which is inspired by the revolutionary romanticism that the author developed through his contact with artistic practices, especially those of the Situationnist International. Against his analysis of abstraction as an inherent process of urban space and time, his rhythmanalysis contributes to the creation of an appropriate space-time, with its ability to transform urban society and reconfigure the Total body so that what is urban can be instead considered a work of art. Lefebvre provides not only a qualitative methodology for the observation of rhythms, but also the outline of a rhythmanalytic experimentation, which can be associated with the practices of an experimental utopia. Rhythmanalysis offers guidelines for an applied poetics; it goes as far as creating forms, textures and styles for urban living. This urban poetics, simultaneously a creative act and one steeped in knowledge, proceeds through experimentation and restores the rhythmic game that enriches our aesthetic experience of urban space and time

ABSTRACT The premise of my thesis is to approach poetics anew, using psychoanalysis and other related theoretical disciplines to help answer the often overlooked but fundamental question: 'What is poetry?' This thesis is based on the notion that Freud's insight into the unconscious is itself the key to unlocking the essential function of poetry as it has come to be understood in the 20th century, throughout the modernist period; and that Lacan, as a rewriting of Freud, specifically developed a theory of language that provides the beginnings of a psychoanalytic poetics. Another component of this thesis involves the claim that, of all the modernists, Wallace Stevens particularly embodies a poetic style that most closely embodies the theoretical position of psychoanalysis. In the first chapter of this study my aim is to draw out thoroughly the relationship to Freudian psychoanalysis and poetry'and to make the specific argument that Freud's technique for dream interpretation is essentially the one that we use to interpret or to read modern poetry. The second chapter deals with repetition, a favorite of psychoanalysis and poetry, in order to make the claim that the ultimate form of metaphor is repetition, which, more than just a rhetorical technique, has much to do with the human psyche and the formation of subjectivity proper.

Streszczenie:
This dissertation treats the diagram as a literary object. It explains how the diagram structured the conditions of possibility of a world-literary modernity as it emerged in the late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century. Caught between the competing epistemic regimes of scientific and humanistic knowledge, as well as between the clash of cultures, East and West, the diagram's potential as a scientifically neutral, and thus, "universal" language was deployed and redeployed in complex ways: just as the diagram was used to reveal the fundamental conditions of literary possibility, it was also made into a literary object itself. Thus, as both a hermeneutic tool and an aesthetic object itself, the diagram's place in literature is shown to hinge upon the necessary but ambivalent relationship between the gravitas of literary criticism and the spirit of play in literary art. Beginning with a philosophical and genealogical archaeology of the diagram, the dissertation unfolds by situating various theoretical issues elicited by the placement of the diagram in literature, such as problems of interpretation, cognition, translation, adaptation, and materiality, within an intricate matrix of historical and cultural contexts. Readings likewise draw from a wide range of disciplines, such as continental philosophy, history of science and mathematics, visual studies, as well as from a wide range of languages and literatures, from English, French, and German, to Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

This thesis is about the ontology and epistemology of foreignness. With other issues,it developed through a series of conversations on foreignness with Australian and international writers and intellectuals, and a subsequent series of radio essays and conversations based on some of the dialogues. A critical framework is developed which examines the relationships between foreignness, cultural identity and the practice of writing through a series of dialogues. The author's analysis involves exploring how the conversations 'speak' the personal and political experiences of living and writing as a foreigner. The interest lies in the various ways narrating one's life touches on certain elements in the aesthetics and politics of writing. The politics of experience and aesthethic production intertwine throughout the conversations and in the production of the text. As the thesis is dialogic in character, the reader can choose to work through the thesis in a linear fashion or to begin at any part. In this sense, the work is divided into three interrelated parts which can be read as different translations of each other. In the last part, in CD format, the author discusses and includes as a postscript to the research, the radio essays and dialogues based on conversations. It is suggested how these radio conversations enact a different way of speaking and writing about foreignness, and explore the on-going relationships between dialogue, translation and a critical imagination.

Carnal transcendence and sexual difference -- An amorous exchange -- Angels playing with placentas -- Fluid subjects -- Poetics -- Oneiric spaces -- Conclusion.
Carnal transcendence imagines a world in which the carnal has the weight and value of transcendence, and the divine is as liveable and readily evoked as the carnal. Carnal transcendence offers a means of thinking through difference in the work of Luce Irigaray, who asks: "why and how long ago did God withdraw from carnal love?" (1991a, p 16). This thesis argues that Irigaray enables her readers to explore the relationship between carnality, transcendence and difference, but resists elaborating it in her work. Carnal transcendence as difference risks remaining an exercise in rhetoric, rather than the transformative and creative philosophy that Irigaray imagines. -- Irigaray's resistance to the carnal is evident in her arguments for sexual difference, which offers our "salvation" if we think it through, and heralds "a new age of thought, art, poetry, and language: the creation of a new poetics" (1993a, p 5). Note the language of transcendence used here. When considered in the light of carnal transcendence, sexual difference imagines a differently sexed culture. This thesis argues that Irigaray's writing is contradictory on this point: it articulates the plurality of women's sexuality, but emphatically excludes theories of sex and gender that emphasise multiplicity. This thesis challenges these limitations by exploring the possibilities of the "other" couple in Irigaray's writing-mother and daughter - for thinking through carnal transcendence as difference. -- This thesis not only explicates a theoretical model for carnal transcendence as difference; it also attempts to put into practice a poetics - a playful rewriting of theory. This celebrates the carnality of Irigaray's writing - evident in her complex imagery of the two lips, mucus, the placenta and angels-and enables an exploration of the philosophical space of the "new poetics" that Irigaray is attempting to engender.

Quinn, Linda. "The poetics of soul| Mythic narrative as creative elegy". Thesis, Pacifica Graduate Institute, 2013. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3556957.

Pełny tekst źródła
Streszczenie:

This dissertation explores the analogical complexity of the soul's unfolding mythos within human consciousness as it mediates and constellates creative psychic impulses into the form of mythic narrative. This study argues how, through its fundamentally poetic, narrative action, the epical soul reciprocally seeks its own development as it raises human consciousness to the larger ground of its being, with its consequent healing of the human soul.

Depth psychotherapy accords to a mimetic pattern of soul that contains an epic sensibility in its power to differentiate, then integrate, the full dimensions of psychic life. The purpose of this essentially poetic journey is to amplify human awareness of the imaginal soul and its guiding principals in reviewing one's personal and ancestral past. It conveys how literalized stories of human life can be deconstructed and re-mythologized through the eyes of the soul.

The complexity of the soul's mythopoetic impulse constructs a world of personal meaning based in divine purpose for the individual; it also bridges one to a larger sense of communal order. Such an expansive mythic vision unleashes a flow of healing energy. With such healing, compassionate energy spirals out, enriching communal life and connecting us to the world.

Throughout the dissertation, an image of the giant sequoia tree is used as a symbol of an expanded form of consciousness and that carries the narrative essential to the human soul. It serves as a guiding metaphor to demonstrate the transformation of one's painful past into a fictional, healing narrative. Deeply rooted in the soul's soil of significance, every ring of one's personal history carries the ghostly stories of ancestors and cultural history that, when deeply explored and explicated, impart meaning to one's journey and the aspirations of an ensouled spirit.

This theoretically-informed dissertation employs a phenomenological hermeneutic as its methodological approach. As an interdisciplinary study, the work weaves together literary criticism, depth psychology, and mythological studies in support of its argument. Clinical material is used to illustrate the depth psychotherapeutic dynamics and how the soul heals through that process.

Obsessed with the „mioritic background we carry in our blood”, Sergiu Moraru traveled „from folklore to philosophy” where he foreshadowed some spiritual impulses, based on which are revealed the ontological dimensions of the popular soul, the philosophy of mioritic living, determined by some specific existential turmoil. From the beginning of perestroika the researchers of Vynnychenko’s works started again. The great majority of these studies examine the writer’s philosophy meanwhile not enough attention is paid to poetics and textology of Vynnychenko’s works.

Streszczenie:
Modern Western philosophy is the third stage in the history of philosophy, and it begins at the beginning of the seventeenth century with Descartes. The reason why historians of philosophy have classified this philosophy in a third stage is that it represented a new type of philosophizing completely different from the philosophical pattern that prevailed in the middle Ages. The truth is that the rise of this new style of philosophizing did not come out of nothing, but it rather emerged from a set of objective reasons, including the religious reform and scientific advance or renaissance, that various sciences have witnessed; mainly physics in the forefront. Physics has known amazing developments thanks to great scientists; the most famous of them is Galileo, who is credited with establishing modern physics. The rise of modern physics led directly to the emergence of modern philosophy, and the developments that physics will know after the Renaissance will also be directly reflected in the development of philosophy. This point in particular is what we would like to study in this research paper, we will seek to demonstrate the close relations between philosophy and physics at the beginning of the modern era, to show through them the contributions of physics to the rise of modern philosophy, and its aftermath developments. These contributions appear in the fact that physics determines the subject of philosophy, its method in particular, and its identification of the various issues that it will raise, as well as the various theories and doctrines that it will construct to answer them. Key words: Mechanics, Materialism, Mechanism, Atomism, Expérimental Method, Empiricism.

Streszczenie:
This paper deals with the educational thought of Fethullah Gülen and its application in a school in South Africa. It will attempt to demonstrate the effectiveness of the school, both academically and in the promotion of universal moral values. The Gülen school provides an alternative both to the Muslim private school and the general private school. Unlike the latter, it gives more attention to moral values, and unlike the former, it is open to all learn- ers irrespective of religious persuasion. It provides a service to society in the transmission of knowledge to humanity, and in cultivating moral values such as responsibility, tolerance, respect, reliability and compassion. The paper is divided into three parts: First, it introduces the problem of educational dichoto- my within the Turkish context since 1924, and how Fethullah Gülen attempted to reconcile science and religion, at least theoretically. Second, it presents the educational philosophy of Fethullah Gülen, especially his moral philosophy as inspired by Miskawayh’s (d. 1030) psy- chology of the soul and his view of the role of the teacher, both in the transmission of knowl- edge and moral values. Third, it discusses the practice of Gülen’s educational philosophy in South Africa, with special reference to Star International School, Cape Town, covering the religious motivations of the teachers, the moral ethos of the school, and educational problems and challenges.

Streszczenie:
The research for the topic "Security policies in the political philosophy of Professor Ukshin Hoti" is focused on all his published reflections and observations on security issues. His publications are very original, interdisciplinary, and mainly focused on finding the right solution to the Albanian question. The purpose of this paper is to identify and highlight Professor Hoti’s views in the field of security and security policies as expressed though his written works. The main thesis presented here is that Professor Hoti has made significant contributions to the field of security and security policies though his writings in this specific area have not yet been compiled and published in any comprehensive manner. This short study and analysis of the works of Professor Hoti strives to highlight important aspects of his philosophy and thereby make a modest contribution to the field of security literature. Keywords: Ukshin Hoti, security policies, cold war, security, international relations.

Streszczenie:
In the past few decades a new approach to ethical principles known as ‘particularism’ has become fashionable among moral philosophers. According to the particularist the progress in the field of ethics, is from monism (the view that there is only one moral principle), through pluralism (the view that there are many), to particularism (the view that there are none). Jonathan Dancy advocates a radical particularist theory: arguing against a variety of univer- salist–pluralist doctrines, he maintains that there are no moral principles; and, even if there are, our ethical decisions are highly context-dependent, made case by case, without the sup- port of such principles. In this paper, drawing on a number of theoretical concepts used in science as well as the philosophy of science, and making use of Fethullah Gülen’s insights, I try to develop a mod- erate universalist–pluralist model in defence of universal ethical values and principles. This model, I argue, is less vulnerable to Dancy’s criticisms and better equipped, in comparison to Dancy’s own model, to deal with particular moral cases. While particularism in ethics leads to relativism and leaves moral agents with no clear guidelines, the model developed here could serve all moral agents, regardless of credal or cultural association and socio-political outlook, in making sound and commendable moral judgements.

Streszczenie:
In this time of supercomplexity as a consequence of the technological development the computer is perceived as way, tool, and facilitator of diffusing knowledge. It is no doubt about the importance of the metaphor in contemporary fields: philosophy of language, philosophy of minds, philosophy of science, epistemology, learning, poetics, aesthetics, in psychology, in media, and so on. From rhetoric considerations we specify that this study does not intend to offer a semiotics of art because we use the metaphor as a vehicle of communication. Beyond its literal and aesthetic content the metaphor has a cognitive meaning and we substantiate this by claiming the metaphor's content from the vantage point of epistemology. It is most plausible that the symbolic interpretations reveals the connections between what is taught in Romanian schools and extending the use of the computers to teacher's or student's home day by day. The task formulated -identifying one metaphor for the computer functioning- refers to a problem solving because the problem here is to recognize, to define, and to represent the computer. Because of the perspectives irreconcilables between electronic pattern of the computer and its metaphoric thinking the target population was invited to clearly explain in words the meaning of their metaphor. In terms of research methodology these requirement is elicited for the argument that the comprehention of metaphor is not an universally generalizable process and the cognitive representations of the computer are variables by individual metaphoric thinking. This paper investigates the cognitive reorientation about the computer of teachers using key epistemological metaphors. The qualitative analysis shows that there clearly are differences between the functions of the computer from the vantage point of standardized view and the practical' interpretation of the target population. As result of analising the computers' functions relating day by day use the images of working the computer (computer as metaphor) delineated are following: the informational metaphor, the educational metaphor, the psychological metaphor, the effect metaphor, the visual metaphor.

Streszczenie:
THE FETHULLAH GÜLEN MOVEMENT AS A TRANSNATIONAL PHENOMENON Bill Park This paper investigates the apparent paradox thrown up by the distinctively Turkish roots and contents of Fethullah Gülen’s philosophy on the one hand, and the movement’s edu- cational activities beyond Turkey and its promotion of interfaith dialogue on the other. It considers how far the movement has been able to transcend its ‘Turkishness’. In the Turkic world, primarily in Central Asia and Azerbaijan, the paper offers an assessment of the extent to which the movement generates an emulative or transformational response, perhaps con- tributing to the emergence of a non-territorial ‘Turkic’ nation or identity. In that context, the paper considers the degree to which the movement can be seen as ‘pan-Turkic’ in terms of its aspirations and effects. Turning to its activities in the non-Turkic world, the paper tries to establish whether the movement should be regarded as a primarily Turkish or primarily Muslim agency, and what kind of impact this creates in host countries. In chiefly Islamic host countries, to what degree is the movement engaged, intentionally or otherwise, in a competition with more radical interpretations of Islam? Or is the movement’s approach to Islam rooted too exclusively in a Turkish context? This leads into a consideration of whether the movement is an agency for a ‘Turkish model’ approach to blending Islam with modernity and democratisation, and whether this suggests either competition or tacit alliance with the Turkish state in this regard. Finally, with respect to interfaith dialogue, is the movement’s contribution seen as narrowly Turkish in its applicability, or as resonating in and of utility to the wider Muslim world?
