Pełny tekst źródłaThrough the making of a European policy for the automotive industry, the future of this sector and that of European governance in a context of increased globalization were at stake. At the crossroads of business history and the history of European integration, the objective was to analyze the intertwined trajectories of the automobile industry and the European project at a time when competition from Japanese manufacturers had intensified. The Europeanisation of automobile policies since the 1970s has not only influenced the future of this sector, but has also had an impact on the European project, contributing to the emergence of a form of neoliberalism. High-ranking European officials have used the automobile to forge the Europe they wanted, while manufacturers have sought a Europe that best served their economic interests. In this way, the various stakeholders have tried to shape a form of European automotive identity with variable geometry, which is difficult to capture. This raises the question of European governance, i.e. the way in which the stakeholders – Member States, European decision-makers, industrialists, association activists and civil society – have defended their interests at Community level, between confrontation and co-construction. The battles waged by lobbies and the Commission's secret negotiations, which have led to soft-law agreements with no legal basis, raise the delicate question of the EU's democratic deficit at a time when Euroscepticism is on the rise and the car is increasingly perceived as a product that damages the environment

Pełny tekst źródłaWith population growth and the rapid urbanization process that affects almost all urban centers in the world, the energy need for cooling spaces continue to increase, particularly in emerging countries. this research is oriented towards techniques relating to new methods of ecological cooling at lower cost. The study has shown that indirect dewpoint evaporative cooling systems are among the most promising. Their ability to use the evaporation of water to absorb heat in order to lower the air temperature without adding humidity is a principle of cooling that consumes a small amount of energy with smallest negative impact upon the environment. From our investigations, it was possible to verify that the studied system could achieve higher efficiencies than typical indirect evaporative systems at lower cost. Its efficiency depends largely on the geometry of the channels, the flow rate and temperature of the intake air, humidity and the ratio of secondary air, but less on the temperature of the inlet water. substrate feed. It was also concluded that the dew point system is suitable for most areas with a dry, mild and hot climate. For some areas with humid climates, the performance of the system would be too low for it to be used alone and a pre-dehumidifier should be incorporated to improve its performance for a wider application. Its cooling capacity varies depending on the region where it is used. Compared to the conventional mechanical compression cooling system, the dew point system has a significantly higher performance potential to reduce energy bills

To deal with these issues, major changes are to occur, not only in terms of organization but also in terms of professional skills. Consequently, the sector must prepare for a huge reconfiguration of professional practices. Engineering being directly affected by this evolution, this requires the implementation of adapted training, and, therefore, appeals for a significant enhancement of the skills of the teachers. To identify these different aspects the present research was conducted using a cross-approach. Following a first axis, specific issues of the construction industry are studied in order to make clearly appear the major mutations that will appear in the short and medium term as an answer to environmental and energy issues. Firstly, an analysis of the sector is proceeded in order to characterize, on one hand, professional practices and, on the other hand, the different jobs occupied by engineers. Secondly, an analysis by themes and technologies, taking into account research activities, technological trends and interviews of professionals, leads to identify the technical and behavioral changes which future engineers should be prepared to. From this double analysis the profiles of competencies required for future engineers, in the short and medium term, are deduced. Following a second axis, a focus is made on issues inherent to trainers working for engineering schools. Analysis of skills required for trainers operating in engineering schools leads to distinguish two major fields (teaching skills and disciplinary skills) likely to be strongly impacted in case of major structural or technological evolution. By crossing the results of the two axes of analysis, we highlight the need for new skills for trainers, for initial training as well as for continuous training, in order to accompany the evolution of the sector. These conclusions are then compared with the results of an inquiry proceeded within an existing higher education school representative of building engineers training facilities. The analysis shows highly contextual issues regarding capitalization and development of the skills of these trainers. It then makes concrete proposals on how to create the conditions in order to achieve the desired skills

Directives have obliged public authorities, communities, such as industry to be reacted particularly while being implied in research. The cement-manufacturers are also concerned. The process cement-manufacturer requires large quantities of raw materials. The main objective of the thesis is to value industrial by-products by cementitious materials. Context and problem of wastes were discussed, as well as the possibility of valorization such as the cements. The methodology set up for the thesis and its originality are explained. First, the protocol of characterization of mineral wastes was developed. The results in laboratory are promising for the replacement of limestone and clay in the cement’s raw meal and different formulations. The cookings in laboratory allowed obtaining a cement containing 4 phases of Portland. The synthesis in bigger quantity of a formulation in laboratory highlighted good mechanical performances on mortars at the young age. In a second stage, the best formulations were tested on an industrial scale in the ARF’s kiln. The raw meal, mixed by hoppers agitators, was a success. Finally, immobilization of pollutants in a cement matrix of the residues after combustion, resulting from secondary fuels of ARF, was studied to be able to downgrade the waste stabilized/solidified by grading reduction of the material before stabilization/solidification

Nous avons interrogé cinq catégories d'acteurs par entretien ou par questionnaire dans le but de comprendre leur position vis-à-vis des situations de risques technologiques. Leurs discours permettent de comprendre et d'affiner les seuils d'acceptation qu'ils définissent autour des risques industriels et de faire ressortir la complexité d'une situation mêlant enjeux politiques, pressions environnementales, logiques économiques et contraintes sécuritaires, vers un positionnement flou et complexe. Ce terrain éclaire une réalité faite de contrastes sur les perceptions de risques d'aujourd'hui.

In this context, we consider the problems of formalization, modularity, centralization and highlighting of flows and subsystems. Indeed, the evolution of the industrial context pushes the companies to evolve to more and more decentralized systems (virtual enterprises, consortium, decentralization. . . ). Existing methodologies and simulation tools make difficult to have an optimal support of these new systems. Indeed, there remains today very difficult to model and simulate the behavior of systems such as the consortia. After highlighted these problems, we propose within the framework of our research a methodological approach adapted to the strongly distributed industrial systems. This approach is based on the multi-agent systems but remains independent of any platform or simulation tool. We propose a life cycle and a first definition of the most significant phases : specification of a simulation model, design of a multi-agent model and implementation of a data-processing model. The concepts which we use (multi-agent systems, systemic. . . ) enable use to answer the various problems arising from the complex and distributed systems of production

Pełny tekst źródłaAnalysis of the dynamics of the mining sector in Peru between the end of the twentieth century and the start of the twenty-first allows an understanding of economic globalisation as a resolutely spatial phenomenon in which territories and identities are reinvented around resources at once local and global. In this thesis, we show how the new rules of the game of mining and property, and environmental governance, illustrate the necessarily political construction of Peru’s territory and resources by the central State around a national project of market-oriented exploitation of mining deposits as a source of economic wealth. This reorganisation of the national productive structure by capital, often foreign, sheds light on the impact of economic actors on the future of the territories. An increase of the spatial imprint of the mining sector and the revenue it generates amounts to a territorial and economic transplant of mining exploitation on a national scale. This increase, however, is felt unequally in local territories. The multiplication of mining conflicts at the start of the twenty-first century recalls how natural resources and the regulations codifying the society-nature relationship are the often unstable result of power relations between actors of unequal weight and with potentially antagonistic goals. We analyze these conflicts questionning the role and place of local actors and territories in development policies, as a weapon of (re)negotiation of the rules of the game wielded by the « have nots ». Varying in intensity, negotiations can be considered micro when the stakes are relatively limited and the actors only hope to achieve a greater share of the wealth. By contrast, conflicts may constitute a weapon of mass negotiation when actors refuse the commodification of nature and attempt a profound transformation of the rules of the game, as is illustrated by the Conga mining conflict in Cajamarca

With the increasing demand for designing lighter and more efficient machines and optimizing the existing structures, thermal analysis becomes a necessary; in fact, the performance of electric machines islimited by the allowable temperatures in many critical components like windings, permanent magnetsand bearings. Two main approaches can be employed in order to study the machine thermal behavior : the lumped parameter thermal network (LPTN) or numerical models. Considering low-computationtime-consuming and the possibility to be integrated in a mechatronics system design, the LPTN method is considered in our study. The latter is mainly applied on electric machine integrated in a complex mechatronics environment. The thermal network is presented along with the definition of the principal elements constituting this network. In fact, an accurate and reliable network strongly depends on many critical parameters like heat transfer coefficients, interface gaps, impregnation goodness, among others. For this reason, different sensitivity analysis techniques are carried out in order to, first, identify the significance of uncertainties in the evaluation of these parameters on machine temperatures and second, to reduce the thermal network. Next, we propose two optimization algorithm-based identification methodologies in order to calibrate results of the thermal network with measured temperatures obtained from a test-bench of a permanent magnet based integrated starter-generator machine. The calibrated model is then integrated in a mechatronics system consisting of an electric model of the electric machine, along with its control strategy and the power converter. This final study allows us to evaluate the impact of the machine temperature rise on the mechatronic system

Pełny tekst źródłaMine tailings represent the finely ground industrial by products generated throw beneficiation of ore minerals. During mine exploitation, these tailings are generally transported in slurry form to large storage facilities, called tailings ponds or impoundments. These facilities are, in most cases, difficult to manage and expensive to rehabilitate. They are responsible for the generation of important environmental impacts and significant ecological disruptions, depending on their pollution potential, management technique, physical stability and the climate conditions. In this context, numerous studies have been conducted to develop new techniques for a sustainable management of mine tailings. The feasibility of reusing some tailings in the construction sector as cementing materials and additives for mortars or concretes were successfully achieved. However, the majority of the conducted studies are still at laboratory stages. Moreover the reuse of tailings as construction material is yet subject of numerous difficulties in term of social acceptance. Various parameters are also of concern, especially the physical and chemical stability of tailings as well as their eco-compatibility. In parallel, the uncontrolled reuse of low sulfide tailings as construction material is increasing in some developing countries (e.g. Morocco). In fact, nearby some abandoned mine sites, these tailings are considered as natural sands and are used for the manufacture of surface finishing mortars. This traditional recycling may constitute mechanical and environmental risks, principally related to tailings mechanical unconformity and to their non-negligible residual metal concentrations. Therefore, the aim of the current research is to evaluate the actual impact of two Moroccan mine tailings (named Zeida and Mibladen), commonly used as aggregates in the Upper-Moulouya region, on the mechanical properties of mortars and on their long term environmental behavior. This work has also as specific aim, to study the technical feasibility of using low sulfide tailings as sand substitute for the manufacture of rendering and masonry mortars. To attain this aim, a thorough characterization of the physical, chemical and mineralogical properties as well as the geochemical behavior of mine tailings was carried out. Mechanical properties of tailings-based mortars were then measured and compared to reference samples (sand-based mortars) using different tests such as setting time, entrained air volume and compressive strength. In parallel, mortars durability and hydration products were evaluated by mean of durability tests (wetting drying cycles, sulfate attack and acid rain simulation) and analytical methods (scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermo-gravimetric analysis). Finally, mortar samples were submitted to various leaching tests to evaluate the pollution potential of these matrices

Pełny tekst źródłaThe goal of ergonomic of adapting work to Man has gradually broadened in scope, notably with the evolution of the concept of health towards integrating the possibility for workers to make full use of their skills. Following this view, the main goal of our research was to better understand the possibilities of joint development of people and organization within a “lean production” industry. Three perspectives of analysis were fallowed. The first perspective related to the underlying model of work in lean production. The second perspective focused on mobilizing work activity as part of continual improvement approaches. The third perspective focused on the forms and goals of the transformation of work, in order to identify the role of ergonomics and evolutions in the practice of ergonomics in order to act in a context of deployment of a lean production system. Our results suggested that ergonomic action focused on identifying the conditions of improved participation is not enough. One must also provide feedback at the strategic level of management, so as to broaden the goals of projects aiming for continual improvement, by including the goals that had not been previously anticipated, and that had been formulated by operators
