Streszczenie:
The study sought to investigate if polygamous converts in the SDA churches are allowed to partake Holy Communion and compare this with biblical teachings. This study employed the Social Exchange Theory to underpin the study. The study utilised a descriptive survey research design and employed the qualitative research paradigm in exploring the issue in the Biblical context. The target population was one Executive Director, 2,462 church members, 5 pastors and 143 Polygamous converts. The sample size of 464 respondents comprised 344 church members, 105 Polygamous converts, 9 elders, 5 pastors and one Executive Director. Data from the field was collected through interviews and self-administered questionnaires. The study also used simple random and purposive sampling techniques when selecting the sample respondents of one Executive Director, 9 elders and 5 pastors. The data were manually coded, entered into the computer, and analysed through the (SPSS) program. Data were presented descriptively through percentages, tables and figures. The study findings revealed that: 50 per cent of Polygamous converts and church members agreed that the SDA Church should choose whether to partake the Holy Communion or not without exclusion. The study also found that the Bible is silent on polygamy, so Polygamous converts should not be discriminated against. Therefore, the SDA Church should not discriminate against the Polygamous converts but should instead accommodate them and show them the love of Christ.

Streszczenie:
The practice of communion without baptism has become more prevalent within the Episcopal Church. Proponents of this practice use scripture extensively in their argument for a change in the traditional Ordo, which maintains an indissoluble bond between baptism and the eucharist. They claim that the narratives of Jesus’ table fellowship support the practice of communion without baptism. In this essay, I will critique the use of scriptural references to Jesus’ table fellowship in support of communion without baptism by considering their canonical context. First, I will explain how the canonical context of those scriptural passages actually argues in favor of the traditional Ordo rather than for a change to it. Then, I will provide an example of how canonical context intensifies the radical hospitality called for by proponents of communion without baptism by means of the traditional Ordo rather than a change to it.

This analysis compares the effects on social mobility of the political transformations in Eastern Europe which took place in the 1950s and the 1990s. The author examines absolute and relative mobility rates in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Slovakia based on data from national random samples taken in 1993 and 1994. Log-linear models are applied to mobility tables for four periods, 1948-52, 1952-63, 1983-88 and 1988-93, to determine change in the strength of association between occupational categories. Searching for the effect of the transition to communism the author compares occupational mobility between 1948 and 1952 with occupational mobility between 1952 and 1963. In order to assess the effect of the transition from communism, mobility between 1983 and 1988 is compared to mobility between 1988 and 1993. It was definitely the transition to communism in the late 1940s that released the more intensive flows between basic segments of the social structure compared to what occurred during the exit from communism in the 1990s. Using both the diagonals and the constant social fluidity models, the author finds no evidence of increasing openness in post-communist countries. Contrariwise, in the 1948-63 period some significant change occurred in relative mobility chances. The conclusion is that the “first transformation” gave rise to a turn in social fluidity on the “genotypical” level.

Luke’s Gospel features an inclusive invitation to Communion at which the gospel of release is extended to saints and sinners alike. This Lukan message of inclusivity is demonstrated through examination of three texts: 4:16–30; 7:36–50; and 14:1–24. Following Luke’s Eucharistic perspective, contemporary practices of the Lord’s Supper will reorient the Supper to Jesus as Lord of the table, and in so doing overcome divisions, remove barriers, and abandon otherwise destructive cultural norms and practices often associated with the Eucharist.

Communion without baptism remains a controversial topic in The Episcopal Church, with many parishes practicing it in violation of the canons of the church. Drawing on recent scholarly arguments both for and against the practice of opening the table to all comers, this article brings a new perspective to the discourse, emphasizing the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist to suggest a way of interpreting the “open table” as an audacious proclamation of the scandalous nature of the gospel of Christ crucified. The cross of Christ, as the reality underlying the eucharistic sacrament, provides a way out of the controversy concerning the practice of open communion.

Paul’s presentation of the communion meal in 1 Cor 11:23–32 highlights tensions we experience as we participate in the Lord’s Supper today: situational tension in re-enacting a conflicted meal and remembering a violent event, a tension between memory and hope, a painful tension for survivors of sexual abuse with the use of “body” and “blood” language in both Scripture and liturgy, and a tension between an insistence on the egalitarian nature of the meal alongside warnings of exclusionary judgment for any who eat while “unworthy.” The first two tensions are biblical and are to be explored and embraced in sharing the Lord’s Supper. The second two tensions result from unintended consequences and misinterpretation, and should be discerned and alleviated to maintain a spiritually healthy and faithful communion liturgy.

This study aimed to investigate tablet-splitting prescription of enteric-coated tablets of diclofenac sodium and aspirin. We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study using claims data collected by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) of Korea during 2016-2020. Of the 1,227,666 prescriptions of aspirin 100 mg enteric-coated tablet, 941 tablet-splitting prescriptions were identified, accounting for 0.1%. Of the 941 prescriptions, 41.7% (392) were prescribed for the elderly individuals aged 65 years. Of the 334 tablet-splitting cases with 15 or more consecutive days of prescription, 58.7% (196) were found in the elderly. Furthermore, 37.0% (37/100), 37.1% (13/35), and 40.4% (36/89) of cases with consecutive days of prescription of 31-60, 61-90 days, and more than 90 days, respectively, gastrointestinal disorders were found. Of the 53,868 prescriptions of diclofenac sodium 25 mg enteric-coated tablet, 2,248 tablet-splitting prescriptions were identified, accounting for 4.2%. Furthermore, of the 2,248 prescriptions, 53.0% (1,192) were prescribed for children under 5 years old, and 33.1% (744) were prescribed for children aged 5-9 years, respectively. We found that tablet-splitting prescription rate of diclofenac sodium 25 mg was high, especially in children. Gastrointestinal disorders were common in the tablet-splitting prescriptions of aspirin 100 mg, especially in the cases with 15 or more consecutive days of prescription.

This study investigates the motivations, influences, techniques, challenges, and perceived opportunities of 11 food producers who are participating in an evolving localized food system near Eugene, Oregon. These producers are resisting the distanced anonymity and negative externalities of mainstream global food production. Interviews reveal participation in a move towards production and distribution that are not only geographically traceable, economically satisfying and ecologically sustainable but that also emphasize reflexive communication between the producer and consumer. Through initial surveying and in-depth interviews, producers identified that producing food for the local market allows them to pursue a meaningful livelihood, respond appropriately to the local environment, and engage more deeply in community. In short their practices and attitudes closely follow the "Civic Agriculture" model. Particularly their focus on local production for the local market, as opposed to a more distanced quality oriented supply chain audit model.

Streszczenie:
Peer-to-Peer networks, due to their capacity of providing a good substrate for large scale contents-resources sharing and distribution applications, represent an interesting and promiscuous research area of the ICT and could play a key role in the diffusion of the mesh networking paradigm, meeting the growing need of communication and resource sharing among people anywhere and anytime. Extending the P2P paradigm to wireless networks presents several difficulties due to their dynamic, multi hop and often power and computational constrained nature. We provide some fundamental guidelines in designing P2P overlay schemes for WMCNs, reaching the conclusion that a hierarchical, structured, and distributed-hash-table (DHT) based architecture, exploiting location-awareness, could represent a suitable solution able to guarantee high resilience, fault tolerance, flexibility and scalability, at the cost of supporting a moderate overhead for overlay and nodes' churning management. We studied and evaluated a location-aware DHT-based P2P scheme, called Georoy. We also introduced some improvements allowing its applicability to wireless mesh networks and opportunistic rural scenarios.

The purpose of this study is to describe and analyse how elite sport students who studied at the National Sport Upper Secondary Schools with specialization on table tennis, experienced the aim and content of the subject Physical Education related to the learning of the subject, learning of the Specialized Physical Education, as well as their own elite investment. The theoretical perspective used in the study is Lave and Wengers (1991) theoretical concept the Community of practice. Where the focus is based on how the students like a community fulfills the criteria who used to characterize the Community of practice and also the aspect of "learning as participate" in the Community of practice. The results showed that the students did not experience a specific aim with the subject Physical Education. The biggest difference was in how the students experienced the learning of the subject Specialized Physical Education towards Physical Education. All of the students exemplify the meaning of studying at the National Sport Upper Secondary Schools with the aim of becoming an elite athlete. Therefore the subject Physical Education was seen by the students more as a subject of amusing character than a subject with knowledge, unlike what they experienced with the subject Specialized Physical Education. In relation to their own elite investment it became obvious that the students considered that they could not use the practical skills which were supposed to be developed in the subject of Physical Education. However two of the students emphasized that the theoretical knowledge was important elements in relation to their elite investment.

MOTIVATION: The value of family mealtime has been well documented by decades of academic research. Children from families, (regardless of race, class or income), that routinely sit down to a meal together, suffer less depression, obesity and substance abuse. They also stay healthier and do better in school (Benefits 2018). There are nutrition, health, social, and mental benefits to eating with others. Research has shown that people eat more fruits and vegetables and other nutrient-rich foods when they share a meal with others. They also drink less soda and eat less fried foods (Benefits 2018). Eating meals together teaches children better communication skills and the opportunity to learn more words (Benefits 2018). PROBLEM: In environments that have limited fresh fruits and vegetables, yet numerous sweet and salty snack food, food insufficiency, and infrequent family meals have been found to be associated with poor dietary intake and/or obesity. (Mason 2014). People and families may make decisions based on their environment or community. For example, a person may choose not to walk or bike to the store or to work because of a lack of sidewalks or safe bike trails. Community, home, child care, school, health care, and workplace settings can all influence people’s daily behaviors. Therefore, it is important to create environments in these locations that make it easier to engage in physical activity and eat a healthy diet (Adult 2018). If we know that eating nutritious meals together at home equals can reduce stress, obesity, and depression, and lead to a happier life, why do people still make other choices? Lack of food education? Resources? Time? METHODS: Direct observational and objective data was collected through a survey to better understand the choices that people make. Research through articles, books, and documentaries will support my findings on the benefits of community kitchens and gardens. Precedents include Shalom Farms, Feed More, and other community kitchens in the country RESULTS: Despite intense nationwide efforts to improve healthy eating, progress has plateaued, and health biases remain (Berge 2017). Community kitchens have been associated with enhanced food skills, improved community food security, and improved social interactions (Iacovou 2013). Studies of community kitchen-based nutrition and cooking instruction program for parents and children suggests increased enjoyment of cooking and decreased consumption of meals away from home (Iacovou 2013). REFLECTIONS & CONCLUSIONS: How might a community cooking school, garden, and table where members share knowledge, resources, and labor to prepare, cook, and consume food improve the member’s health? A kitchen-based nutrition and cooking instruction program for parents and children would bring food freedom, or the right to food, implying that sufficient food is available, that people have the means to access it, and that it adequately meets the individual’s dietary needs and an environment to learn basic cooking techniques and food gardening. This community cooking school and garden will highlight healthful eating, incorporating young children into growing their own produce, cooking, and emphasizing the emotional and social benefits of family meal time. In this space, a variety of programs for all experience and income levels would be available year round. Every class would end with a meal around the table, because eating together is as important as what’s on the plate.

Streszczenie:
While Portland, Oregon's sustainable food movement wins accolades for explicitly situating itself in opposition to the industrialized global food system, it often fails to address systems of oppression that are reproduced within the alternative agri-food movement itself. This demonstrated aversion towards the messy, complex, contingent nature of the social world reflects larger processes of "de-politicization" of the overall sustainability agenda, which leads to the favoring of technological and/or spatial solutions that may undermine the social equity and justice dimensions of the "triple bottom line." This thesis focuses on an action research project involving a series of community dialogues that provided participants with a common language and understanding necessary to interrogate issues of race and class in Portland's sustainable food movement while developing visions for possible futures. Dialogue participants may find new ways to communicate, learn, identify common goals and best practices, and potentially network, collaborate and/or co-produce transformative anti-oppression strategies that integrate into the sustainable food movement. By asking those vested in the sustainable food movement to interrogate dimensions of anti-oppression consciousness, the movement becomes fortified with voices better equipped to envision sustainability within a more political and contingent reality that recognizes conflicts of power, and less resembling an idyllic, utopian, and ultimately impossible sustainability. This thesis delivers some preliminary outcomes following the dialogue series by describing and reflecting on the series' implementation and processes, and reflecting on its impact on participants' anti-oppression consciousness in the context of food and sustainability, while discussing possibilities for future scholarship.

It also provides Gapminder (Lindgren 2020) estimates, which could not be neglected because of my interest (for application of the OOST) in the 1913 life expectancy values. They could only be interpolated or estimated from values in the years for which life tables could be constructed. I rely on my estimates, but those coming from Gapminder are useful as a control instance.

During the Soviet period, they were compiled by the Soviet Central State Office in Moscow and remained classified until Gorbachev’s perestroika era (some selected figures were published only in the 1960s). Streszczenie:
Abstract The reunion in the rural setting calls on a number of powerful traditional Christian images to portray symbolically the meanings associated with family, home, and community and the contradictions of meanings, the irreconcilable paradoxes, within the religion-familial system of Protestant culture. The family gathered at the reunion has the same social shape and many aspects of the form of liturgy seen in the religious gathering of people for the church homecoming or camp meeting; often one finds the reunion is held at the campgrounds or outdoors around the covered tables near the graveyard of the rural church. The Biblical images of household of God and family of faith are invoked to sacralize the human family by linking it to the ongoing unit of the church; the image of the communion of the saints as a collected body of heavenly and earthly Christians is linked with the specific human ancestors of a family through honor of the old and of the dead and through the tie of reunions to ancient family homeplaces and cemeteries. Sharing common food invokes the image of Holy Communion-in this case consisting of food prepared by the women of each family in the fashion of an offering consumed by all in the sacramental setting of the common table.

Abstract With a two-pronged argument, he counters the excessive ranting of the Pharisees by means of the chiding of Moses and Isaiah, so that we may over come opposing heresies with the words of Scripture. They saw the disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands. This signifies the future communion of the gentiles. The cleanliness and the baptism of the Pharisees are useless. The unwashed apostolic community stretches its branches even as far as the sea, which is greater than the guilt. However, the tradition of the Pharisees in regard to tables and dishes is not to be maintained, but is to be cut off and eradicated. Often the commandments of God give place to the traditions of men.

Abstract IT is easy to suppose that, with Hertford’s seizure of power, the Reformation was all over bar the Marian burnings. On 31 January 1547 the regency Council named Hertford protector of the realm and governor of the young king; on 12 March he was commissioned as virtual regent with near-sovereign powers. Then there was a clockwork Reformation. In 1547 there were new reformist Injunctions and new evangelical Homilies;endowed prayers were suppressed, and the laity allowed communion in both bread and wine. In 1548 church images were pulled down, and an Order of Communion introduced English prayers to the Latin mass. In 1549 the Latin rites were replaced by a half-Protestant Book of Common Prayer, and the clergy were permitted to marry. In 1550 altars were exchanged for communion tables, and a new Ordinal provided Protestant pastors rather than Catholic priests. In 1551 the episcopate was remodelled and a corps of missionary preachers created. In 1552 there was a decisively Protestant second Prayer Book. In 1553 redundant mass equipment was confiscated, the Protestant theology of the Church defined in Forty-Two Articles, and a Catechism published to teach the new religion.

Streszczenie:
Introduction. In Uruguay, the Ibirapitá Plan provides a tablet for every low-income retired woman. That motivated the research of old women’s information behaviour related to access and use of inclusive information for overcoming their disinformation. This work has the following purposes: (i) contributing to research focused on knowing and interpreting the role of social mediators and old women in the processes of access, search and appropriation of information using the Plan’s tablets; (ii) investigating users' needs of local information; and, (iii) offering such information in a participatory design of a digital solution for tablets by an interdisciplinary team. Methods. A mix of methods was applied using a questionnaire and mainly qualitative methods: in-depth interviews with qualified informants and trainers, observation of tablet-distribution workshops, focus groups and validation workshops of the digital solution designed for tablets applied in two capital cities and two small towns with the collaboration of community organisations. Analysis of the results. The analysis of the results is presented according to five dimensions of analysis and the questions that the research seeks to respond to. Discussion and conclusion. The affirmations and experiences raised regarding the technological device open a wide range of challenges to overcome and learning opportunities both for tablet users and for the production, content management and future designs of search interfaces.

Streszczenie:
El Manglito was a community in Baja California Sur, Mexico, that was turning into a cesspool for all the communities surrounding it. About 15 years ago, an NGO NOS brought in biologists and environmental scientists to work with the community. NOS took steps to clean up community by removing waste and and implementing sustainable fishing practices. 15 years later, a sharp increase in cartel violence was reported. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, cartel violence inward into Mexico has both increased and diversified. With border closures negatively affecting the cartel’s economy, they have turned to different forms of income generation, including extortion of local communities. The Corioli Institute team approached the El Manglito community to explore a potential collaboration that took shape as a trust building exercise. We went in with an open and participatory approach to engage with the community, informing them of our research capabilities, understanding their needs and desires, and asking what would be most useful for them. The community were keen on building intergenerational cohesion, with the older generation expressing a desire to foster a sense of belonging for the young people within the community. One of the primary drivers of youth participation in cartels within the community was a lack of belonging within the community, which children and yoth sought within the cartels. Engaging with children and youth, we elected to produce a coffee table book. Our team led a series of workshops, brought in consultants, and funded the production of the coffee table book for the community. The final book was a resounding success and is being put into libraries across Mexico. The novel participatory, receptive, collaborative approach to trust building and social cohesion within the El Manglito community resulted in a strong sense of identity, efficacy, and pride among the youth of the community.

Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center, University of California, Berkeley, CA, listopad 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.55461/svks9397.

Streszczenie:
Considering the importance of the transportation network and bridge structures, the associated seismic design philosophy is shifting from the basic collapse prevention objective to maintaining functionality on the community scale in the aftermath of moderate to strong earthquakes (i.e., resiliency). In addition to performance, the associated construction philosophy is also being modernized, with the utilization of accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques to reduce impacts of construction work on traffic, society, economy, and on-site safety during construction. Recent years have seen several developments towards the design of low-damage bridges and ABC. According to the results of conducted tests, these systems have significant potential to achieve the intended community resiliency objectives. Taking advantage of such potential in the standard design and analysis processes requires proper modeling that adequately characterizes the behavior and response of these bridge systems. To evaluate the current practices and abilities of the structural engineering community to model this type of resiliency-oriented bridges, the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER) organized a blind prediction contest of a two-column bridge bent consisting of columns with enhanced response characteristics achieved by a well-balanced contribution of self-centering, rocking, and energy dissipation. The parameters of this blind prediction competition are described in this report, and the predictions submitted by different teams are analyzed. In general, forces are predicted better than displacements. The post-tension bar forces and residual displacements are predicted with the best and least accuracy, respectively. Some of the predicted quantities are observed to have coefficient of variation (COV) values larger than 50%; however, in general, the scatter in the predictions amongst different teams is not significantly large. Applied ground motions (GM) in shaking table tests consisted of a series of naturally recorded earthquake acceleration signals, where GM1 is found to be the largest contributor to the displacement error for most of the teams, and GM7 is the largest contributor to the force (hence, the acceleration) error. The large contribution of GM1 to the displacement error is due to the elastic response in GM1 and the errors stemming from the incorrect estimation of the period and damping ratio. The contribution of GM7 to the force error is due to the errors in the estimation of the base-shear capacity. Several teams were able to predict forces and accelerations with only moderate bias. Displacements, however, were systematically underestimated by almost every team. This suggests that there is a general problem either in the assumptions made or the models used to simulate the response of this type of bridge bent with enhanced response characteristics. Predictions of the best-performing teams were consistently and substantially better than average in all response quantities. The engineering community would benefit from learning details of the approach of the best teams and the factors that caused the models of other teams to fail to produce similarly good results. Blind prediction contests provide: (1) very useful information regarding areas where current numerical models might be improved; and (2) quantitative data regarding the uncertainty of analytical models for use in performance-based earthquake engineering evaluations. Such blind prediction contests should be encouraged for other experimental research activities and are planned to be conducted annually by PEER.

This report summarises findings from an evidence and gap map (EGM) commissioned by the Department for International Development (DFID) and undertaken by the Campbell Collaboration (Campbell) and the International Centre for Evidence and Disability (ICED). An EGM is a table which offers a visual presentation of the available evidence for a particular sector. The map provides an overview of what studies are available, but it does not summarise the findings. In the disability map the rows are intervention categories and the columns are indicator (outcome) domains. The framework for the EGM – interventions and outcomes – are based on the components of WHO’s Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) matrix (Figure 1) (WHO, 2010). Both interventions and outcomes use the same set of headings, that is: health, education, livelihood, social and empowerment.

The cost for construction of new pipelines to meet the demand for natural gas can be justified by using high strength materials: however line safety requires steel properties that preclude catastrophic failures should the pipe wall be breached. Important problems faced in the eighties, come now again onto the table of the international scientific community driven directly by the incoming projects of future high productivity transmission lines, and need final solutions. The objective of this project, was to develop a simple laboratory testing method, that can be easily transferred and used in the mill practice, to provide a reliable measure of the ductile fracture toughness, expressed by the critical value of the Crack Tip Opening Angle (CTOAc), for high grade/high toughness line pipe steel (grade API X80 and Charpy V shelf energy 200 J). Such parameter has been measured up to now by using the CSM Two Specimen CTOA Test Methodology (methodology developed in the frame of past PRCI sponsored project for gas pipeline steels in grade up to API X80 and with Charpy V shelf energy up to about 200 Joule).
