Pełny tekst źródłaThe rapid changes in the industry and the increasing integration of electronics in new environments require the control of the reliability of electronic boards. The integration of electronics in severe environments within the MAPP platform (Mechatronics for the Improvement of Products and Processes) of CEA Tech Grand Est deal with this problem. In these environments, defects such as delamination and via cracking can occur in printed circuit boards (PCB). From this perspective, this thesis proposes a contribution to creating a numerical tool to prevent these defects. For a realistic modeling, the thermomechanical characterization of the different layers of the PCB has been performed through experimental tests. Nevertheless, this characterization was incomplete because of the thinness of the PCB, which motivated the implementation of a multi-scale method. An inverse method based on Mechanics of Structure Genome (MSG) was developed and implemented as a Python script. Microscopic observations were coupled to Gmsh software to create the microscopic model and then to TexGen modeling software for the mesoscopic model. The presence of inclusions inside the matrix between the yarns was confirmed by nanoindentation. The influence of yarns' geometrical parameters and phase properties was analyzed. Adapting a hybrid optimization method was implemented to minimize the discrepancies between the experimental and numerical properties. Obtained results were used to simulate the behavior of an electronic board in operation using ABAQUS/Standard finite element software. Thermomechanical tests at the board scale were implemented to validate the simulations. The comparison shows good agreement between results as predicted by both numerical and experimental approaches. The mechanical field analysis showed contrasts that could lead to thermomechanical fatigue. Nevertheless, delamination tests to feed cohesive zones at the interfaces between layers were not performed due to the small thickness

The proposed approach is based on dissociating the equipment modeling into two complementary parts involving the car manufacturer and the elctronic supplier. The feasibility of this modeling technique primarily required ton characterize the interaction between the equipment and the car body. Besides, the different factors having an influence on the validity of the model were examined as well as its needed level of precision. The latter issue was considered by taking into account the globality of the system, especially the variability brought by the random bundling of the cable harness. Finally the proposed method was evaluated by comparing statistical measurement and simulation results obtained on a realistic electronic sub-system

A large part of current PCB design software is now approaching the limits of its capabilities, essentially in terms of efficiency, and printed circuits are becoming as complex as integrated circuits of a few years ago. The development of such a software tool requires an efficient router and an intelligent system to manage all the necessary modules. That’s why this thesis presents, firstly, an original gridless and internally hierarchical router along with a prototype which validates a theoretical model of a printed circuit ; and secondly, a novel software structure which permits the construction of modular expert systems which simultaneously use several types of knowledge representations. Pełny tekst źródłaPower Electronic CAD needs that circuit simulation predicts accurately thermal and electrical constraints encountered by power devices during switching transients. Today, the most frequently used models (SPICE and Gummel-Poon ones) produce insufficient results in the conditions of such simulation. This is due to an empirical representation of phenomena occurring in saturation regime. Saturation is characterized principally by a high level injection neutral region in the low-doped collector. Accurate modelling of this mechanism is treated in present dissertation, and particularly used technicals of Functional Analysis (Internal Approximation) and technics of System Theory (state variable modelling, bond graphs). The mode! derived appears as a bond graph which fits exactly the geometrical structure of the device, and that follows clearly physic mechanisms. Moreover, at the opposite of Gummel-Poon model, parameters are very few, really important and concern only the technological structure of the transistor (doping profile, lifetimes,. . . ) Finally, simulation results are very closed to experimental measurements, much better than those produced with SPICE for the restricted case of hard switching, with equivalent amount of computer time

Pełny tekst źródłaTo carry out research on electrical or mechanical induction machine faults diagnosis, the simulation tool is essential to investigate them. Although in practice some shortcomings are almost impossible to achieve, it is often difficult to reproduce them in simulation without devoting a very important development time. That is why in this thesis, with the idea of using software engineering tools, we had set our goal to automate the generation of induction machine simulators with the presence of various stator and rotor defects. After a survey of different induction machines simulation approaches, we have developed our model with the Electrical Circuits Magnetically Coupled(CEMC) method. First, we have detailed the standalone Meta Model steps to generate a healthy induction machine model, beginning with the basic parts of the model and detailing assembling steps to get the whole induction machine model. This approach is based on stator's, rotor's and stator rotor mutuals, and connection matrices auto-construction according to winding's topology and geometry. After that, we enriched this Meta Model by implementing turns short-circuit in the same phase, short circuit between phase and ground or rotor bar's break. We have shown how this standalone generator takes into account each of witch topological changes by auto extending parameters and connections matrices. This auto-generation methodology was validated with experimental results from faulty induction machine prototypes, and we can say that this simulation plate-form (the Meta Model Object oriented implementation) can be used as a virtual experimentation environment to test techniques of failures detection and location

Acquiring Knowledge needs to set up user friendly environments, thus allowing the neuropsychologists to unput in the system the elements of the re-education. We implemented all these techniques in a system, which innovates in computerized memory re-education : the REMISSION system (Rééduçation Ecologique de a Mémoire un Système de Simulation). The elements of both the simulation environment and the re-educational strategies are modeled with the objects and rules concepts. Elements are introduced in the system via a descriptive language, aimed at making the knowledge expression easier. A graphical component (which manages, the objects, the events and the time) and a deductive one cooperate in the system. The evaluation of the patient's. Actions is carried out by mappings of patient's and system's solutions

Pełny tekst źródłaAnalysis of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) of so-called complex systems consists of predicting voltage induced on electronic circuits submitted to various EM couplings. Such phenomena may consist of couplings between EM and Thermal parameters, or they may concern couplings throughout systems of various sizes with respect to the wavelength and the behaviour of the system. These interactions may also depend on many parameters like dimension, physical data and so on. This thesis is aimed at developing a method well-suited to resolving the problems posed by the EMC of complex systems. This method reduces these couplings to a circuit assembly with a combination of inductance, capacitance and resistance, voltage source and current source. The main advantage of the methodology will be to use the formalism of electrical networks developed by G. KRON, which consists of solving the circuit theory by means of the inversion of a large matrix size. In the scope of this work, EM coupling between cables, shielded cables, antennas, and an EM cavity were simulated with KRON’s formalism to establish a library of subroutines to use to solve complex EMC problems. The comparison between KRON’s method and measurements of the coupling between antennas inside an EM cavity under various configurations shows the efficiency of the method for EMC problems concerning systems of variable sizes and large numbers of parameters. Finally, we proposed to study the simulation of an electrothermal system which consists of both the electrical propagation and thermal diffusion inside a coaxial system filled with a thermally and electrically conducing material. This study seems to open new possibilities for the development of a new generation of EMC tool

Pełny tekst źródłaIn the area of secure integrated circuits, such as smart cards, circuit designers are always looking to innovate to find new countermeasures against attacks by the various side channels that exist today. Indeed, side channels attacks such as the analysis of electromagnetic emissions permit to extract secret information contained in circuits. Based on this observation, in this thesis, we focused on the study of electromagnetic analysis to observe the analysis possibilities. This manuscript is organized as follows. Initially, we presented a measurement system for electromagnetic emissions in time domain, and the results obtained on different circuits. From these results, a summary of opportunities, relating to the security threat, posed by electromagnetic analysis, is proposed as well as solutions proposals to reduce electromagnetic radiations of integrated circuits. In a second step, we are interested in the simulation of electromagnetic emissions. A state of the art of simulation tools which exist today, has allowed us to demonstrate that none of them allowed to have a fine enough resolution in terms of electromagnetic emissions. To fill this gap, a simulation tool has been developed and to validate this flow, a comparison between measurement results and simulation results was performed

Pełny tekst źródłaThis work addresses the real-time simulation of nonlinear audio circuits. In this thesis, we use the port-Hamiltonian (pH) formalism to guarantee power balance and passivity. Moreover, we adopt a continuous-time functional framework to represent "virtual analog" signals and propose to approximate solutions by projection over time frames. As a main result, we establish a sufficient condition on projectors to obtain time-continuous power-balanced trajectories. Our goal is twofold: first, to manage frequency-bandwidth expansion due to nonlinearities, we consider numerical engines processing signals that are not bandlimited but, instead, have a "finite rate of innovation"; second, to get back to the bandlimited domain, we design "virtual analog-to-digital converters". Several numerical methods are built to be power-balanced, high-order accurate, with a controllable regularity order. Their properties are studied: existence and uniqueness, accuracy order and dispersion, but also, frequency resolution beyond the Nyquist frequency, aliasing rejection, reproducing and Peano kernels. This approach reveals bridges between numerical analysis, signal processing and generalised sampling theory, by relating accuracy, polynomial reproduction, bandwidth, Legendre filterbanks, etc. A systematic framework to transform schematics into equations and simulations is detailed. It is applied to representative audio circuits (for the UVI company), featuring both ordinary and differential-algebraic equations. Special work is devoted to pH modelling of operational amplifiers. Finally, we revisit pH modelling within the framework of Geometric Algebra, opening perspectives for structure encoding

Pełny tekst źródłaOne of today's challenges in power electronics is the need to comply with the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) standards. Due to the ever increasing switching speed, interconnect modeling becomes of major importance. This work shows that it is possible to perform accurate simulations of power converters by inclusion of a Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) model of the converter's interconnects. In this way, the conducted EMI noise level can be predicted with satisfying precision from circuit simulation. However, this kind of simulations tends to be very time-consuming, and can merely be used for the validation of a technological implementation of the converter design. The simulation results have therefore been interpreted, and the complexity of the overall-model has been reduced. Thus, a frequency-domain method for EMI noise prediction has been developed. This method enables the user to rapidly obtain the total noise level, the Common Mode (CM) noise level and Differential Mode (DM) noise level. The method can be used for converter design purposes. Both methods have been applied to a chopper implemented in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and in Insulated Metal Substrate (IMST) technology. In both cases, the influence of a SMD decoupling capacitor on the conducted noise levels has also been examined

In the field of hardware verification, the use of declarative property languages in combination with simulation is now standard practice. However the lack of features to specify asynchronous behaviors, or the insufficient integration of verification results, makes existing assertion and measurement languages unable to enforce mixed-signal requirements. We propose several theoretical and practical tools for the description and automatic monitoring of such behaviors, that feature both discrete and continuous aspects. For this we build on previous work on real-time extensions of temporal logic and regular expressions. We describe new algorithms to compute the distance from some simulation trace to temporal logic specifications, whose complexity is not higher than traditional monitoring. A novel diagnostic procedure is provided in order to efficiently debug such traces. The monitoring of continuous behaviors is then extended to other forms of assertions based on regular expressions. These expressions form the basis of our measurement language, that describes conjointly a measure and the patterns over which that measure should be taken. We show how other measurements implemented in analog circuits simulators can be ported to digital descriptions, this way extending structured verification approaches used for digital designs toward mixed-signal

Pełny tekst źródłaSmart Power Integrated Circuits (ICs) are intensively used in automotive embedded systems due to their unique capabilities to merge low power and high voltage (HV) devices on the same chip. In such systems, induced electrical coupling noise due to switching of the power stages is a big issue. During switching, parasitic voltages and currents, lead to a local shift of the substrate potential that can reach hundreds of millivolts, and can severely disturb low voltage circuits. Such parasitic signals are known to represent the major cause of failure and costly circuit redesign in power ICs. Most solutions are layout dependent and are thus difficult to optimize using available electrical simulator. The lack for a model strategy prohibits an efficient design strategy and fails at giving clear predictions of perturbations in HV ICs. Here, we present a post-layout extraction and simulation methodology for substrate parasitic modeling. We have developed a Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) tool for substrate extraction from layout patterns. The extraction employs a meshing algorithm for substrate model generation. The behavior of the substrate currents can be taken into account in post-layout simulation, and enables an exhaustive failure analysis due to substrate coupling. Several industrial test cases are considered to validate this work, the interferences of substrate currents in a current mirror configuration, and a standard automotive test in amsHV technology. This methodology is also applied to a HV BCD technology of STMicroelectronics. Eventually, by using the proposed CAD tool, it becomes possible to simulate the behaviors of substrate noises before fabrication
