Streszczenie:
This paper aims to analyze the patterns of leadership regeneration found in the Church today, using a descriptive qualitative method approach by collecting data through biblical literature, books, various journals, and interviews. Leadership within the Church today uses an allegedly less effective pattern for the long-term continuity of church life because regeneration is not a priority, so the younger generation feels that it is not counted as part of the Church's development plan day and in the future. Thus they do not feel at home but judge themselves as strangers within the Church. As a result, the pattern of leadership regeneration within the Church today is one of the triggers for the gap between generations that actually gives birth to a form of indirect division within the community of believers as the Body of Christ.

Several churches around the world have experienced performance challenges because of factors such as lack of good leadership, lack of resources, poor vision, poor communication, and difficultly to access to the youth which have made it difficult for churches to grow their membership. The general objective of this research was to assess the influence of leadership styles on church performance in Protestant churches in Ongata Rongai. The study specifically focused on studying the influence of the transformational and transactional leadership styles on church performance by viewing church performance from the angle of church membership retention and church membership growth. This study is a survey that used the correlational research design to collect data from 256 respondents who were church members from five selected Protestant churches in Ongata Rongai. The data collected was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS) version 23 and the research results revealed that church leaders in Protestant churches in Ongata Rongai use both the transformational and the transactional leadership style. The research results also indicated that the transformational leadership style has a positive but weak influence on church performance while the transactional leadership style has a positive and strong influence on church performance. The study recommended that church leaders incorporate more transactional practices in their leadership and that churches invest in capacity building of their leaders. Pastors and church leaders work as partner with the people of church in order to build God’s kingdom on earth. In reality, not all members of church are willing to participate in this service voluntarily. Paying attention to the strategic role of people in the church's development efforts, the attention of the leader in empowering church members needs to be done seriously so that church members can carry out their roles optimally in the life and work of the church. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a significant influence between the pastor's leadership and the service motivation among the church members. The samples of this study are the GMI Baithani and GMI Efrata members, taken by random sampling technique. Data processing was assisted with SPSS 18 for Windows. The result of regression analysis of pastor’s leadership has significant effect to the service motivation of church members equal to 57% while 43% influenced by other factor.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of church ministries and their influences on church followers inKiminini sub-county, Trans-Nzoia. The main problem that promoted the researcher to do the study on the topic was that church leadership seemed to be the cause of the challenges facing many church followers..The researcher wished to unearth the origin of many churches and the effects of believers and how they affect the management of many churches .The objectives of the study established the way church leadership pin church followers on sin rather than love, determine the extent to which followers depend on church leadership for growth and development and to establish the teachings that the church followers receive from church leadership. .The study applied the Charismatic Leadership Theory by Max Weber 1924-47 and LMX Theory (1975) and Servant Leadership Theory Robert Greenleaf, 1977 .The researcher exploited the study by descriptive researcher design which provided a mixed research design that led to a triangular design. The descriptive survey design was applied to gather information on the way church followers respond to church leadership..The variables under review were independent ,dependent and intervening variables .The simple random sampling techniques and purposive sampling techniques were utilized .The instruments of questionnaires ,interview schedules and focused group method were used that gave the findings for discussions and interpretations..The data was analyzed descriptively using tables and percentages and presented the summary conclusions, recommendations and gaps for further research where it will be used by other researchers, scholars, church leaders and educationists.

Abstract: Over the last twenty years, researchers and practitioners have become increasingly interested in the transactionaltransformational leadership paradigm. However, only a few studies tested the validity of this approach to leadership concerning church growth. Thus, Momoh (2015) researched on transformational leadership as a tool for church development. The Results revealed that there is a significant positive correlation between transformational leadership style and church growth. They were found to be influential to the growth of the church and the gospel. Momoh also observed that the foundation of any leadership determines the height such leadership can attain. He further elaborates that many problems that are confronting leadership especially the church leaders today is on wrong foundation. To him, leadership position can be attainable through craftiness, professionalism and administration capacity but once a leader lacks spiritual charisma, character and vision, he will only end up messing things up. Implications of these results for theory and practice are discussed.

The pastor has a very important influence on his church. The leadership of a pastor in a church will affect the growth that occurs in the church. A healthy church is a growing church. However, pastors sometimes neglect to provide guidance so that the church does not grow. If there is no action, an appropriate method of counseling is applied in the church, it will cause a more complicated problem. The purpose of this study is to reveal the role of the pastor on leadership and growth in the church. The problems in this study are as follows: What is the role of the pastor on church leadership and growth in the perspective of pastoral counseling?. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results used in this study indicate a form of pastoral counseling method given by the pastor to congregation members as leaders and to increase church growth. The existence of pastoral counseling can help the pastor's role in leadership in the church and display a superior character, trustworthy attitude and role model in growing the church.

The article analyzes the ideas of charismatic leadership developed in the Catholic Church in the second half of the 20th century. These ideas are connected, on the one hand, with the biblical revival, with the attempts to rediscover the heritage of the Church of the first centuries, and on the other hand, with new social phenomena, which are typical for the era after the Second World War. The social dimension of charisma and its role in the creation of associations were rediscovered in Catholicism during the Second Vatican Council. At the same time, a huge number of new social and evangelical initiatives appealing to charisma appeared. The new church movements became the most prominent and well-known examples of catholic “charismatic associations”. The author shows how the Catholic hierarchy managed to streamline and incorporate the charismatic leadership of lay associations into the reality of the universal church structure. The article emphasizes that the concept of charismatic leadership in the Church is in the process of evolution. The author concludes that the documents of church governance, proclaiming the absence of a conflict between charisma and institution in theory, reflect the political processes of the contemporary Catholic era: the emergence of Catholic movements with a predominant role of laity, the change of generations of Catholic elites and the formation of a new balance of responsibility between movements and the church hierarchy.

Management is the integration and coordination of resources to effectively move the organization towards the desired goals. The concepts and key elements in management are organizations. This organization is also divided into two namely: voluntary organizations and voluntary organizations. The objectives of this management are: (1) Vision and mission for existence; (2) Objectives and targets; (3) The desired destination and floating destination. Management effectiveness refers to how well an organization reaches its goals over a period of time. This emphasizes goals or mission (long distance) and goals (short term). Effectiveness contrasts with efficiency. Efficiency is a short-term measure of how well an organization uses resources. Healthy organization management must be effective and efficient. Leadership relates to people, while management pays more attention to tasks and performance. As far as the organization is concerned, these two things have the same function in promoting the well-being and development of healthy organizations to achieve organizational goals.

The study was an examination of the role of servant leadership in worker's commitment to the Xander church (Pseudonym). In Xander church, workers' commitment is shallow, as reflected in attendance and service. A cross-sectional design was used to study 38workers using nonprobability purposive sampling. The hypotheses were: H1 Is there a statistically significant relationship between servant leader behaviors and workers' commitment? H2: Is there a statistically significant relationship between the servant leadership behavior of empowerment and church workers' reported commitment due to the length of stay? The eight dimensions servant leadership survey instrument measured servant leadership, while workers' commitment was measured with the 15-item Organizational Commitment Questionnaire. The data were analyzed with Spearman’s Rho correlation because of a small sample size. The results revealed that servant leadership predicted commitment, and the servant leadership survey element, behavior empowerment, was not predicted by the worker's length of stay. I recommend that further research be conducted to ascertain reasons for a low commitment since servant leadership behavior impacted commitment. This empirical research explores adult identity formation through work experiences, gaining insight into structures and practices which allow women to thrive in leadership within the evangelical church ministry context. This qualitative research explores adult identity formation and gender role stereotypes in leadership domains within the evangelical church context on the West Coast. Twenty-five ( n = 25) women in vocational church leadership, aged 25–71, revealed what impedes or contributes to female leadership adult identity formation. Key findings revealed women leaders thrive and gain identity strength through agency found in union with Christ; hold back identity components and skills available to church leadership teams to fit the male work context; contextual factors impact women’s well-being in leadership including assumptions and mindsets adverse to women leading; and lead pastors and supervisors’ beliefs about women in leadership are critical to healthy identity formation. Therefore, this research is an exploration of what experiences assist women leaders to thrive or not thrive in evangelical vocational leadership on the West Coast and how their identity in Christ empowers their leadership.

<p>The idea of leadership has been examined for millennia. Examples of leadership in action go back to Moses from the Bible and Xenophón from Greek history. One of the key theories in early leadership is that of charismatic leadership. Although most scholars agree that a key concept of charismatic leadership is that of follower attribution, defining boundaries for charismatic is as difficult as defining leadership itself. This difficulty is accentuated in this work because of the shifting organizational structures and follower perceptions. The case details follower attributed charismatic leadership traits, and then provides a robust discussion on the impact of shifting organizational constructs.</p>

The literature on church-state relations in post-Soviet Russia has been slowly but steadily expanding over the past two decades. The period since 2008, however, remains underdeveloped, as existing analysis has focused on specific issues rather than attempting an overview of the larger trends since the above-mentioned changes in the leadership of both institutions. Seeking to address this gap, this article explores the implications of the nearly coincidental changeovers in leadership in the Moscow Patriarchate and the secular state for church-state relations in Russia, both near and long-term. The first part of the article sets up the context for understanding the new church-state dynamic, by discussing in some detail the state of the relationship under Patriarch Aleksii II. The conclusions are that, under Aleksii tenure, the church could be considered a relatively weak institution, as it was unable for the most part to strengthen its position in Russia through legislative means. The second part focuses on the process whereby the new patriarch came to be elected in 2009, intending thereby to shed some light on Kirill I's leadership style and political agenda. The third part discusses concrete changes in the church-state relationship that have occurred on the federal level since 2008. The final section proposes some conclusions regarding the importance of the Russian Orthodox Church as a political actor in the contemporary Russian Federation, suggesting that despite the recent gains in the church's political fortunes, the ROC's position in society and particularly vis-à-vis the government remains vulnerable in key respects.

Practical theology, according to Stone (2002) posits that churches should care and sacrifice for the community. Consequently, Christianity has been handling epidemics for more than 2000 years. This paper seeks to assess the role that is being played by the leadership in Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFMZ) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The term leadership in this paper refers to those in charge of the congregants and this includes church pastors, reverends, bishops and elders. Church leaders are people who play influential roles within their faith communities and the broader local community. They benefit from trust and exercise moral authority over members of their local faith community, and shape public opinion in the broader community and even at the national or international level. The paper argues that the church and its leadership play an important role in providing moral guidance to tackle COVID-19 and also to dispel fear that stalks communities alongside the disease. In order to evaluate the role that AFMZ leadership is playing in the fight against COVID-19, the paper employs a qualitative research approach in its exploration and analysis of data gathered through an online survey method. The paper found out that the church is playing a vital role in communities by communicating messages of hope in the midst of severe fears of COVID-19. It also found out that the church leadership is playing a vital role in changing people’s attitudes toward COVID-19 by providing in depth discussions of safety measures in times of the pandemic. Lastly, the paper found out that the church leadership is not doing enough on the practical matters like providing food to the most vulnerable groups in their respective communities and for quarantined patients, maintaining clear communication with families and ensuring that basic primary care is not undermined due to limited finances. The paper therefore recommends that more finance should be availed to church leadership especially from the main church coffers to enable them to meet the above-mentioned demands.

In 1929, after many years of consultation and compromise, the two largest Presbyterian denominations in Scotland — the established Church of Scotland and the voluntary United Free Church — were united. The Union was an impressive achievement, marking the end of the bitter divisions of eighteenth and nineteenth century Scottish Presbyterianism. In particular, it represented the healing of the wounds of the Disruption of 1843, when the national Church of Scotland had been broken up as a result of conflicts between Church and State over patronage and the Church's spiritual independence. With the Union of 1929, the leaders of Scottish Presbyterianism, and especially John White of Glasgow's Barony Church, succeeded not only in uniting the major Presbyterian Churches, but also in establishing a cooperative relationship between Church and State. The Church of Scotland, itseemed, was again in a position to assert national leadership.

A leader must equip himself with various competencies needed in ministry for the development and growth of the church. A leader must have pedagogical competence, professional competence, personal competence, social competence and spiritual competence.

The number of Christians in American churches is declining rapidly, and the number of people in America who claim no faith is increasing. This article examines the current context and the challenges that the American Church faces, which include cultural influences, generational replacement, non-adaptive leadership, discipleship, training, and the loss of mission within the American Church. Despite the loss of numbers, the American Church still wields significant global influence owing to its missionary sending and exporting of media, marketing, and technological influence. The global Church follows the leadership of the American Church, for good or ill. Aspects of the Church that are exported, however, often reflect American cultural values rather than traditionally held biblical ideals. Understanding the dynamics, issues, peculiarities, flaws, and successes of the Church in America is therefore imperative if negative trends are ever able to be stemmed in the American Church, and if the American Church hopes to continue contributing significantly to global Christianity. The Church in North America has many expressions, and is extremely varied. Thousands of denominations have been formed over the years, reflecting every theological persuasion, episcopal and leadership structure, worship style, ethnic identity, and geographic area. This article explores the context in which the American Church functions, examines some of the factors and trends affecting the Church in America, discusses why there is reason for hope, and suggests some ways for the Church to move forward in uncertain times.

Spiritual leadership has experienced a significant correction of service responsibilities for God's church. Several reasons are advances in information technology, social media, and financial problems. On the other hand, the digital generation is the majority of the congregation. The facts show that 6 out of 10 people (59%) leave the Christian faith in the first decade of adulthood, and the number 44% - 52% do not go to church. The personality of the digital generation tends to be eroded, while the church leadership seems to have lost the enthusiasm to reach them. The question is how to build the resilience of spiritual leaders in the digital age? What kind of implications and approaches in developing the personality of the Digital Generation can take? The purpose is to describe the steps to build spiritual leadership resilience and explain the implications and mission approaches of digital generation personality development. Research is a qualitative descriptive method. The results are building Spiritual Leadership Resilience by upgrading oneself in contemporary leadership, building friendships, synergizing with other spiritual practitioners, and building worship praise as a medium for spiritual experience. The implications for the digital generation are: Developing the three vocations of the church, building intergenerational relationships and leadership spirit, generating gifts and role effectiveness, and emphasizing the meaning and fulfillment of future leadership functions.

Abstract: Patriarchy culture has strongly influenced the Christianity on marginalizing women, especially limiting women's leadership in the church. Biblical theorems and the church fathers' views that subordinate women are also used as reasons to perpetuate male power in the church. Women are not only blamed for being considered the origin of sin, but also seen as weak, inferior, lustful, more emotional, and less rational than men. Although the Bible also records that there were women who became apostles and leaders, but this fact did not necessarily undermine the patriarchy culture in the church. Based on that, the author criticizes the patriarchy culture in the church and reconstructs a model of church leadership that sides with women. In this article, the author proposes a church without a pulpit as a feminist ecclesial leadership model with several concepts, namely (1) the church is women and women are the church; (2) the church as a common space; (3) the church as a space for friendship; and (4) the church as a space for sharing. Keywords: leadership, women, feminist, ecclesiology.

ABSTRACTIn 1918, Faith Tabernacle Congregation was established in southern colonial Ghana. This Philadelphia-based church flourished in the context of colonialism, cocoa, and witchcraft, spreading rapidly after the 1918–19 influenza pandemic. In this context, several healing cults also proliferated, but Faith Tabernacle was particularly successful because the church offered its members spiritual, social, and legal advantages. The church's leadership was typically comprised of young Christian capitalist men, whose literacy and letter writing enabled the establishment of an American church without any missionaries present. By 1926, when Faith Tabernacle began its decline, at least 177 branches had formed in southern Ghana, extending into Togo and Côte d'Ivoire, with over 4,400 members.

The aim of this article is to explore how the Protestant Church in Papua (GPI-Papua) and the Protestant Church at West Indonesia (GPIB) run their mission in the world. As representatives of the church on the earth, both churches carry the same mission. As the church they are called and sent by God to fulfill their duty which is to serve the world. The method developed in this study is the document study which mneans that the study focuses on some important documents of these churches. This study found out that the presbyterial-sinodal system which is adopted by the GPI-Papua and GPIB will create or run congregation as a family. Based on this system, the church should be developed as as family of God through which the church reflects the meaning of being a church. By being a family of God, these churches should not focus more on institutional or structural and organisation aspects of the church. In contrary, the two churches should develop functional church leadership as the basic character of the church leadership.

The Church is a popularly known part of the human society. The genesis was from the divine understanding of a few men and women during and after the ascension of Jesus Christ. The Church gradually grew into a great body of people of living faith. The significant impact of the Church in the human society over the years cannot be denied. The factual stance is challenging in the recent time due to the concurrent happenings of ineffectual activities perpetuated by so called ‘Christians’. While this observation is about the Church in general, the periscope of this article is the Nigerian Church. In Acts 11:26, the disciples were referred first to as Christians because the unbelievers could see the Christ-like image. The effectual movement of the Church has often been geared by Church leadership from the time of Jesus Christ. The biblical framework of this paper is John 13:1-17, where the foot washing concept is explored. With the activity of Jesus and His disciples; this paper depicts several applicable lessons for the sustenance of the Nigerian Church. Cardinal among the lessons is the concept of servant leadership, love and fellowship. A clear emphasis is laid on leadership in the Nigerian Church. Jesus gave a redefinition of this integral structure having equality and equity, though with regard to authority. Above all, the acknowledgement of Christ should be re-entrenched in the Nigerian Church, such that, the place of God remained usurped and His glory shared with no man!

Jesus Christ is a role model for leaders, with His leadership still relevant until now. Jesus brought transformation to His community, and this transformative leadership model is needed to renew church ministry and evangelism. This article aims to find out the level of implementation of Jesus' transformative leadership among church leaders and activists of the Protestant Christian Church in Bali (GKPB) at Denpasar. This “traditional” church needs transformation to improve its quality and range of services outside Bali Island. The research used a quantitative method by measuring the Four Dimensions (D) in the concept of transformative leadership of Jesus according to the Gospel of Matthew. Results show that first, the implementation of Jesus' transformative leadership among GKPB Denpasar leaders and activists was found to be in "moderate" level due to the leadership model that was still committed to the system of institutional centralization and local autonomy based on tradition, which became an obstacle to develop mission work outside Bali. Second, the implementation of Jesus' transformative leadership among GKPB Denpasar leaders and activists was more dominantly influenced by the understanding of the Kingdom of Heaven (D2), meaning that leaders of GKPB Bali had practiced the Jesus transformative leadership model. However, the adequate salary and facilities provided by the synod created anthropocentric comfort, which diluted the spirit of the mission. Third, the background of "long-serving" (L5) dominantly influenced GKPB Denpasar leaders and activists to adjust Jesus’s transformative leadership model, but this was not yet able to fully optimize the practice. Therefore, GPKB Denpasar leaders and activists need to shift from the traditional paradigm to the transformative one to carry out personal and institutional transformations to improve their quality, range of services and answer future challenges.

Streszczenie:
Churches play a critical role in the alleviation of socio-economic challenges of people in various places of the world through church funded projects. In Kenya, for instance, Anglican Churches invest huge resources each year in the sustainability of income-generating projects. These projects include provision of education, healthcare and food. This is done alongside the Church’s core function of the spiritual nourishment of its members. At times, Church-funded projects are brought to a sudden halt with the transfer of an individual minister in the church or after the demise of donors or withdrawal of funds by donors. These circumstances lead to serious sustainability challenges of projects such as quality assurance or the overshooting of estimated project cost budget. It is against this background that this study was designed. The study sought to assess the influence of stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization and leadership style on the sustainability of the Anglican Church-funded projects in Kenya. The study was anchored on stakeholder engagement theory. The study adopted a positivism philosophy and a cross-sectional survey design. The unit of analysis was the Anglican Church while the universe of the study was Mombasa Region in Kenya. Stratified random sampling was used to select 397 church members while purposive sampling was used to select 11 church committee members and 22 parochial church councils. The primary data was obtained using structured questionnaires. The study achieved a response rate of 95.81%. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicated that stakeholder engagement positively and significantly influenced sustainability of church funded projects. The study also established that resource mobilization had a significant enhanced moderating effect on the relationship between stakeholder engagement and the sustainability of the Anglican Church-funded projects in Kenya. The regression coefficients for democratic leadership and transformational leadership style were positive, implying that they had an increasing impact on sustainability of projects. The combined variables indicated that stakeholder engagement, resource mobilization and leadership style had a positive and significant effect on sustainability of projects. This implies that there exists a positive significant relationship between stakeholder engagement and sustainability of projects. The study therefore concluded that the completion of projects was above average at 87% in the years 2016, 84% in 2017 and the rate for the year of 2018 was 86% respectively. This success rate led to a higher level of satisfaction by the beneficiaries of the church projects. However, a budget variation was noted in small projects which had a budget variation of less Ksh 500,000 while major projects had variations of between Ksh 500,000 and 1,000,000 for the three years under study. As part of the recommendation, adoption and application of democratic and transformational leadership practices was advised. The leadership of the church should motivate members to unremittingly participate in project implementation cycle and provide regular and progressive feedback to members and other stakeholders. This is useful in orienting development projects towards objective realization, helping church members get on track and stay focused, enhancing familiarization and in enhancing overall project sustainability. The study will inform policy to church policy makers, Church authorities and stakeholders.

This article explores the prophetic liminality of Christian leadership as it is practiced against the contextual backdrop of social, ecclesial and ethical upheavals such as secularism, relativism, sexism, corruption, violence, crime, women abuse, xenophobia, disbelief and disillusionment in authority both in church and state. It argues for an up-to-date and leading-edge church-ministerial response to modern-day situations. It proposes liminal and innovative leadership for both church and state. However, the liminal quality is specifically aligned with the prophetic dimension of leadership. A prophet's leadership is here understood as visionary leadership that challenges and directs people beyond the ordinary, and confronts that which is unethical in society. Liminal here implies being and functioning at the cutting-edge of events, trailbracing and by steering away from the conventional approaches. Sadly, because leadership had become enmeshed with the systemic designs of the church, society, economics, culture or tribe, it demands to be interjected with an exceptional characteristic to minister both directly and at the same time indirectly to problematic situations. In the words of Diarmud O’Murchu, for a leader to function liminally s/he needs to be on the doorstep or on the horizon of everything contemporary. For leaders to stay in force and relevant implies living with innovative freedom, with human-divine recklessness and with honest integrity. In turn for liminality to be an effective quality in leadership, it involves being spiritually and morally courageous and particularly attuned to a transcendent capacity. This enables the leader to move with the ever changing circumstances of our times, into different situations and cultures, thus devising and applying different responses that constantly accommodate new possibilities The article carves out a theological and a directional itinerary for ministerial leadership that offers a liminal-prophetic liminal–transcendent challenge to leadership today. Liminal transcendent leadership pleads not to be dictated by ecclesial or social conventions and neither by personal conventions. Liminal leadership is by nature a painful search for an appropriate response to what is new, for that which is different in contemporary scenarios.
