Streszczenie:
The ocean engineering equipment industry is the foundation for the implementation of maritime strategy. China’s national departments at all levels have developed relevant ocean engineering equipment industry policies to promote the rapid development of the industry. By using 56 industrial policies issued between 2010 and 2020 as the research sample, we conducted an in-depth assessment of the external structural characteristics and structure of the main cooperation network for such policies using descriptive statistics and social network analysis. Based on a symmetric analysis method, the two-dimensional matrix of cooperation breadth and cooperation depth, together with the measurement of the issuing subject’s centrality, was used to analyze the evolution of the subject’s role in the network. The research shows that the development of China’s ocean engineering equipment industry policies can be divided into three stages, and there are the following problems during the development of policies: (1) some policies and regulations are imperfect; (2) the network of cooperation among joint issuers is limited; and (3) some policies are issued by multiple government departments, but there is a lack of specialized and unified management from an absolute core department. Based on the above problems, we present some suggestions for policy optimization at the end of this paper.

The purpose of this study is to make analysis of the meaning, organization, operation, evaluation, and development of the Chinese household registration police system, and to gain a deeper understanding of the “police” as an inherent object of Police Science research. The household registration system in most countries and societies can be understood as a population information management system operated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs or a department in the general administrative field. However, the “Integration of household registration and police” household registration police system that is now being implemented in China classifies the household registration system as part of the security, and the registration and management of personal information as part of the basic police operations. From its inception, China's modern household registration system was in the hands of the police. As the political situation changed, the household registration system was given a different purpose. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the government set the primary purpose of the household registration system as the administration of public order and the maintenance of social order, influenced by three levels: historical influence, former Soviet influence, and its own needs. Such a household registration system is now considered as the foundation system of China's household police system. Household registration operations are emphasized as one of the most basic and important tasks of the Chinese public security police. The Chinese public security authorities have invested a great deal of manpower and resources in the operation of the household registration police system, resulting in a level of social security in China that is comparable to that of developed countries around the world. However, new problems that need to be addressed have arisen, such as leakage of personal information and negative social perception of the public security department. The Chinese household police system illustrated above has a great morphological difference from the police system that can be seen in most societies such as Korea. However, in terms of the concept of police, which is centered on the actual operation, the Chinese household police system can be considered as the police in the actual sense.

Streszczenie:
IntroductionThe timely treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients is of utmost importance, and yet, there remains a significant disparity between urban and rural areas in China due to the unequal distribution of medical resources. The manifestation of symptoms and psychosocial factors play a crucial role in shaping medical decisions for AMI patients. It is well established that minimising prehospital delay (PHD) is crucial for the successful implementation of recanalisation therapy and reducing mortality in out-of-hospital settings. However, there remains a paucity of studies investigating the correlation between illness perception, symptom response, social support, and PHD in AMI patients.AimThe aim of this study was to analyse the relationship pathways between symptom response, illness perception, social support and PHD time in patients with AMI in rural areas of China.MethodsA primary care-based cross-sectional study was designed to investigate the inpatients initially diagnosed with AMI in the emergency department of three tertiary care hospitals in three counties in northern Zhejiang Province by convenience sampling method from January 2023 to December 2023. A minimum of 286 patients will be enrolled (voluntary response sample). Each participant will complete a paper-based questionnaire to gather research outcomes. Statistical analyses will be performed using logistic regression and structural equation model with PHD as main outcome parameter.DiscussionThis is the first study of the factors influencing PHD in AMI in rural China using structural equation model. Our study will address this gap in the available research. The implementation and findings of this study may provide a reliable basis for reducing PHD in AMI patients in rural areas and establish a relevant theoretical foundation for the implementation of targeted interventions and risk prevention measures in primary care hospitals.

Purpose Although interdisciplinary research is an increasing trend in scientific funding projects, they are suffering from a lower probability of being funded. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current situation on successful case of funding application and provides suggestions on how libraries can expand services to help scientific funding application. Design/methodology/approach This paper utilizes the co-occurrences of disciplinary application codes to construct an interdisciplinary knowledge flow network. Based on 193517 sponsored projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the authors study the interdisciplinary flow of knowledge and investigate the evolution of network structure using social network analysis. Findings Results show that the interdisciplinary knowledge flow network is not only a small-world network but also a scale-free network. Two main knowledge flow paths across scientific departments exist, showing the heterogeneity of knowledge distributions across scientific disciplines. The authors also find that if two disciplines in the same scientific department both have a wide influence to other disciplines, they are more prone to link together and create a knowledge chain. Originality/value Funding consultation currently has not occupied an advisory role either in library services or in the research team. This paper conducts a co-occurrences network analysis of interdisciplinary knowledge flow in scientific funding projects. Considering the complexity of funding application and the advantage of traditional library services on information collection, integration, and utilization, the authors conclude the possibility and necessity of embedding funding consultation in traditional library services.

Background: The rising prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in China has led to a decline in the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of employed individuals with the condition. Consequently, healthcare providers play a crucial role in identifying the factors associated with HRQOL in this population. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the HRQOL of employed individuals with COPD and determine the relationships between symptom burden, functional performance, social support, and HRQOL. Methods: A cross-sectional correlational research design was employed for this study. A total of 130 employed individuals with COPD who visited the respiratory outpatient department at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected between August and September 2021 using a demographic questionnaire and four scales. Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation were used for data analysis. Results: The study findings revealed that the mean HRQOL score among the participants was in the moderate range (M = 69.46, SD = 16.82). The correlation analysis revealed a significant negative association between symptom burden and HRQOL (r = -0.80, p <0.001). On the other hand, a positive relationship was observed between functional performance and HRQOL (r = 0.56, p <0.001), while social support did not show a significant relationship with HRQOL (r = 0.04, p >0.05). Conclusion: These findings serve as a foundation for healthcare service providers and policymakers in developing targeted nursing interventions and comprehensive management approaches for employed individuals with COPD. By addressing the symptom burden and promoting functional performance, nurses can strive to enhance the HRQOL of this population. Moreover, strategies to improve social support networks and facilitate access to emotional and practical assistance may further contribute to improving the overall well-being and satisfaction among employed individuals with COPD.

Purpose There is a relatively low risk management (RM) level and maturity in China’s state-owned construction enterprises (CSCEs). The purpose of this paper is to find the main factors impacting RM in practice to promote rapid, sound and sustained development in CSCEs. Design/methodology/approach There are a few state-owned CSCEs in China. Most enterprises know little about RM. Because of the limited number of RM departments in these enterprises, 200 questionnaires were sent to the enterprises to investigate the RM strategies employed by them. The research is quantitative and used a questionnaire survey to determine the important factors influencing RM practice. The collected data were analyzed with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences to identify the most important factors affecting RM as well as the extent of influence of these factors, in order to facilitate further research. Findings The survey revealed the top eight factors (i.e. leaders’ support, personnel’s responsibility, comprehensiveness of identification, costs and benefits, risk appetite, understanding of language, frequency of training and performance management) that highly impact RM in CSCEs and the extent to which these factors impact RM. The data reveal that the average RM level is low. Some methods have been recommended to improve RM. Research limitations/implications The research lays the foundation for further RM development in CSCEs. The low RM level in CSCEs should encourage researchers to find better ways to improve RM. Some factors in the research will function as valuable guides for China’s private and public-private partnership enterprises. Practical implications A quantitative analysis methodology for RM has been developed for CSCEs that can reflect their RM level. In addition, the degree of impact of key factors on RM has been shown. The results can act as a reference to improve RM quantitatively, making the RM system more explicit in dealing with risks more accurately and instructively. Originality/value Structural RM research is utilized to evaluate RM in CSCEs by following an empirical method. With the continuous improvement in RM, CSCEs can cooperate well with construction enterprises of other countries for infrastructure projects and gain more benefits.

Streszczenie:
Over the past few years, energy security and sustainable development have moved up the global agenda. Energy is what makes an economy run. There is a strong correlation between economic development and energy consumption. Energy security plays an important role in all economic sectors in attaining the long-term vision of inclusive economic growth and development of the economy. The attainment of this vision is difficult as it is challenged by the need to build energy infrastructures that are not only responsive to the growing demand but can withstand the maximum credible natural disaster. One of the primary objectives of sustainable development is to make people without access to enough energy be able to meet their needs through the provision of stable, reliable, clean, safe, and affordable energy services. This research will use the Granger Causality test to analyze the causal relationship among the endogenous variables among (1) GNI per capita; (2) GHG Emissions; and (3) Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) between energy-economic development and the influencing factors of power supply security indicators. In the end, this paper expects to suggest that the paper electric power development plans in the country also have implications for the path that would lead the country to what is known as a green economy. It is in this background that energy security and economic growth development are intertwined by public policy. In a broader development sense, public policy draws in the active involvement of the community in identifying problems. Anchored deeply in the national development agenda, the local community develops its own sets of development goals and pushes itself towards realizing this long-range vision. Hence, the output of public policy supported by strategic planning will require effective monitoring and evaluation of programs. This remains to be both a challenge and priority for both the national and local governments.ReferencesAstana, K. (2011). Streszczenie:
Abstract Background The pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) which includes Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is believed to involve activation of the intestinal immune system in response to the gut microbiome among genetically susceptible hosts. IBD has been historically regarded as a disease of developed nations, though in the past two decades there has been a reported shift in the epidemiological pattern of disease. High-income nations with known high prevalence of disease are seeing a stabilization of incident cases, while a rapid rise of incident IBD is being observed in developing nations. This suggests that environmental exposures may play a role in mediating the risk of developing IBD. The potential environmental determinants of IBD across various regions is vast, though medications have been increasingly recognized as one broad category of risk factors. Purpose Several medications have been considered to contribute to the etiology of IBD. This study assessed the association between medication use and risk of developing IBD using the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) cohort. Method This was a prospective cohort study of 133,137 individuals between the ages of 20-80 from 24 countries. Country-specific validated questionnaires documented baseline and follow-up medication use. Participants were followed prospectively at least every 3 years. The main outcome was development of IBD, including CD and UC. Short-term (baseline but not follow-up use) and long-term use (baseline and subsequent follow-up use) was evaluated. Results are presented as adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Result(s) During the median follow-up of 11.0 years [interquartile range (IQR) 9.2-12.2], we recorded 571 incident cases of IBD (143 CD and 428 UC). Higher risk of incident IBD was associated with baseline antibiotic use [aOR: 2.81 (95% CI: 1.67-4.73), p=0.0001] and hormonal medication use [aOR: 4.43 (95% CI: 1.78-11.01), p=0.001]. Among females, previous or current oral contraceptive use was also associated with IBD development [aOR: 2.17 (95% CI: 1.70-2.77), p=5.02E-10]. NSAID users were also observed to have increased risk of IBD [aOR: 1.80 (95% CI: 1.23-2.64), p=0.002], which was driven by long-term users [aOR: 5.58 (95% CI: 2.26-13.80), p<0.001]. All significant results were consistent in direction for CD and UC with low heterogeneity. Conclusion(s) Antibiotics, hormonal medications, oral contraceptives, and long-term NSAID use were associated with increased odds of incident IBD after adjustment for covariates. Streszczenie:
Abstract Background China implements a comprehensive strategy of rule of law. In December 2019, some unexplained cases of pneumonia were found in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Declared the fight against coronavirus disease in 2019. In this struggle, the rule of law should also be used in the prevention and control of coronavirus diseases. And constantly committed to improving public anxiety and behavior. Research Objects and Methods In order to understand how China applies the rule of law in epidemic prevention and control and its benefits, this paper uses the method of literature research to study how China applies the rule of law in epidemic prevention and control before the 2019 coronavirus disease outbreak. There are four epidemic prevention stages from the 2019 coronavirus disease outbreak (December 2019) to November 20211. Articles provided for the study include laws, regulations, government documents, news from national media and other official sources. In order to test the influence of emotional behavior, 60 subjects were used in this study. The stressful life events scale was the adolescent self rating life events check list (ASLEC) compiled by Liu Xianchen. The scale consists of 27 items, and the six dimensions are interpersonal relationship, academic stress, punishment, loss, health adaptation and others. It measures the life events that have brought stress to the subjects in the past six months. The scale adopts Likert 6-point scoring method, and 0 ~ 5 points represent “no occurrence, no influence” to “occurrence and extremely serious influence”. Add the scores of all items. The higher the score, the more stressful life events. Internal consistency of life event scale α The coefficient is 0.876. Pearson correlation, standard deviation and statistical significance were used to illustrate the correlation. Independent sample t-test was used to verify the difference between high anxiety group and low anxiety group. According to the statistical value of anxiety, participants were divided into three groups: low, medium and high anxiety groups. The questionnaire includes two kinds of anxiety, namely debilitating anxiety and promoting anxiety. The relationship between anxiety and self-efficacy of students of different majors and genders was investigated by t-test, univariate, multivariate analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results The research shows that before the outbreak of coronavirus disease in 2019, China's epidemic prevention legal system has laid a solid foundation for combating coronavirus disease in 2019. In the four different stages of epidemic prevention and control, the rule of law lies in the prevention, treatment and control of coronavirus diseases and the punishment of illegal and criminal acts. The political and legal departments also participated in the epidemic prevention and control work together with front-line staff. In addition, the rule of law plays an important role in recovery operations. Public legal services and typical cases guide relevant departments to restore service companies. The public convenience services of the judiciary help people quickly resolve disputes without violating the epidemic prevention and control. In view of the deficiency of epidemic prevention and control, it has improved China's public health legal system and blocked the loopholes in the criminal law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the criminal law). Due to the complexity of coronavirus disease, people were afraid from the beginning. However, the effective application of law and penalty enhances people's confidence in prevention and control. However, there is no public psychological service law in China. The rule of law has supported the decisive achievements of the fight against the novel coronavirus, stabilized social order, and enhanced people's confidence in this fight. Conclusion Before and after the outbreak of coronavirus disease in 2019, the rule of law is very important for epidemic prevention and control. The rule of law not only helps to eliminate the virus, but also pays attention to the recovery action after the epidemic and new problems in epidemic prevention and control. The main work of the rule of law will change with the development of the epidemic. The application of law or penalty can appease people afterwards, but it is more important to establish a legal system of public psychological services. But what will not change is that epidemic prevention and control should follow the road of the rule of law. In short, the government should be fully aware of the importance of people's emotional factors. Actively improve the surrounding environment, enhance their respective roles, pay special attention to their own standardized language and behavior, and shift from single display to multi-dimensional management, coordination and cooperation. In the process of prevention and control, actively present personalized psychological state to patients, flexibly organize epidemic prevention activities, strive to create a relaxed and harmonious rehabilitation atmosphere, create a friendly and mutual emotional treatment relationship, encourage and guide more, and truly achieve people-oriented, so as to reduce anxiety and adjust the public psychology to the best state.

Streszczenie:
Abstract Background With the development of various information technologies and the popularization of the Internet, great changes have taken place in human life. In particular, social media has become an important channel for people to obtain information and generate event awareness, attitude and emotional tendency. Personal real-time comments on social media have a potential role in guiding public opinion and guiding network public opinion. As one of the most representative online social media, microblog contains a lot of public emotional information. The heterogeneity of microblog users' personal characteristics such as age, work and education leads to their different views, attitudes and values, making their views more representative and universal. Emotional analysis of these information is of great significance for us to understand the spread of public opinion events. By constructing a personal cognitive emotion classification model based on the optimized distributed gradient enhancement library, the emotion classification of microblog short text is realized. The model mainly includes text data collection and preprocessing, text feature extraction based on word embedding model word2vec, high fitting emotion classification model established through training corpus, and emotional tendency judgment according to the emotional tendency results obtained from the model. This paper takes 5 million microblog data and the data set released by CCF international natural language processing and Chinese Computing Conference as the word vector training corpus of word2vec to train the emotion classification model. Research Objects and Methods In order to investigate the semantic analysis of emotion, we formed an open-ended questionnaire by consulting relevant literature, sorted out the recovered effective scales, and conducted data semantic analysis. On this basis, combined with the previous theoretical concepts, the preliminary measurement table of emotional information is compiled; Secondly, the preliminary test is carried out according to the items of the scale, and the data are analyzed through item analysis, exploratory factor analysis and reliability test of the scale; Finally, the formal scale is compiled, tested and recovered, and verified by confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and validity test. In order to test the relationship between emotional information and emotional regulation, the cognitive bias questionnaire (CBQ) was used to measure the negative cognitive bias assumed to be related to depression. The scale measures two dimensions: (1) depression and (2) cognitive distortion. “Depression” expressed by CBQ refers to depressive emotion, or bad mood, rather than a depressive syndrome containing all relevant symptoms. Cognitive distortion is defined as reasoning that is clearly incorrect in terms of known facts. CBQ attempts to evaluate the specific cognitive distortions proposed by Beck (19671970), such as over generalization, out of context, arbitrary and speculative reasoning and judgment, ignoring advantages or good results and exaggerating disadvantages or bad outcomes. The scale describes six situations common to college students or psychiatric patients, three for interpersonal relationships and three for self-achievement. After each situation, three or four questions are put forward. These questions represent four possible combinations of the two dimensions of depression and distortion: depression non distortion, depression distortion, non depression non distortion and non depression distortion. Subjects were asked to answer how they experienced when they were in this situation. The score is to compare the scores of the four combinations of depression and distortion respectively, and the score range is 0-23 points. At the same time, independent sample t-test and analysis of variance were carried out with college students' gender, grade, family location, major, one-child situation, student cadres, family status and parental education as independent variables. Whether it is a student cadre or not has a certain impact on the emotional regulation and self-efficacy of college students. Results The improved model overcomes the shortcomings that the general methods can not explain the context and capture the semantic relationship of the context, and improves the efficiency and accuracy of emotion based classification. The effectiveness of different models can be evaluated according to confusion matrix or ROC curve. In this paper, the classification effect of xgboost emotion classification model is obviously better than that of SVM classification model. Conclusion Our empirical results show that most netizens hold a negative attitude towards yumengyao wrestling competition. Due to its limitations, this paper only uses xgboost model to study the text emotion classification. In the future, deep neural network can more accurately understand the characteristics of microblog short text, realize higher precision emotion analysis, and help practitioners and decision makers comprehensively and effectively identify the public's views and attitudes towards national policies and current events. This paper is of great significance to the real-time public opinion analysis in the network social media environment, and emphasizes the necessity of promoting the establishment of network public opinion early warning mechanism. Strong financial support is an essential prerequisite for ensuring the quality of education. As the scale of higher education institutions continues to expand, the demand for educational funding keeps increasing. Social donations, as a significant source of funds, highlight the importance of educational foundations. This paper reviews the development history, policy support, and primary fundraising targets of China's higher education foundations. Based on the existing issues in the development of higher education foundations in China, it proposes specific recommendations in four areas: strengthening the construction of a professional talent pool, enhancing the depth and breadth of information disclosure, increasing transparency in the use of donation funds, improving the quality of talent development, and paying continuous attention to graduate employment and career development. It also suggests engaging in digital philanthropy and utilizing social media platforms to enhance two-way interaction, thereby promoting higher education foundations to better fulfill their role and support the sustainable development of China's higher education.

Abstract China has an impressive record in the total number of scientific publications in the past decade. In 2012, it churned out 193 733 Science Index Citation papers—4.7 times the 2002 level and second only to the United States. Unfortunately, the standards of science integrity has not kept up with the pace of this development, and many cases of research misconduct have been reported. This prompts many to fear that the country is now facing a critical problem in the field of scientific ethics. AbstractSocial research is a critical foundation for programs that seek to engage communities in change and in the development of more sustainable societies. Without appropriate research, programs aimed at change are likely to be based on implicit or assumed problem identification and/or inferred community needs and wishes. If we are to achieve community participation in activities that lead to real change, research to find out about those communities is the first step. Over the past ten years the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has developed a considerable body of social research, conducted with both the general community and specific community segments, to underpin its environmental education programs. This paper includes a review of some models for integrating social research into education programs, and examines the extent to which social research has impacted on both the environmental education programs and the organisational culture of the DEC. From this are drawn learnings from the perspective of a major State environmental agency, about the integration of social research into any program or organisation seeking to achieve social change towards sustainability. As well as program specific benefits, the ultimate outcome of this process is to assist in producing an organisational culture which values evidence-based decision-making and develops policies and structures that incorporate a social research dimension into both programs and policy.

Main reasons for student dropout from higher education may be low academic performance, poor socialization skills, low confidence levels, busy social life and financial issues. As students’ dropout from higher education has been rising, there is a need to understand this problem for finding suitable solutions. Research objectives for this institutional research are to explore patterns in dropout data at Foundation program, establish criteria for identifying students at-risk of dropout and identify areas of improvement for reducing dropout rate, as the dropout problem is high at Foundation level of the college. Research methodology includes application of exploratory study based on analysis of secondary data pertaining to 22 semesters, Spring 2012 to Summer-I 2017. Findings revealed that 1966 students dropped out from Foundation program during the study period with an average of 94 students per semester. Dropout rate was higher among males and was more at Levels I and IV. Though dropout happened in Foundation, academic departments would also experience major loss, as Foundation is the ‘feeder program’ for other bachelor’s programs. It is recommended to have a dropout process flow-chart not only to understand the exit journey of dropping students, but also to reverse the journey. It is recommended to set up a dropout committee, design an early warning system for creating alerts and bifurcate Foundation department into Language sub-department and Technical sub-department (Math and IT courses). It is further recommended to have an effective data management system that would enable administration to reduce dropout rates and create a ‘feel good’ environment for the students.

Also, consistent with its cultural context, guanxi is considered to be equally important in business as it is in life for all types of Chinese enterprises. Herein, the discussion is extended to describe the concept of guanxi as a means of garnering social capital in order to maintain legitimacy. Furthermore, some practical means are suggested for entrepreneurs and small business owners to build a necessary foundation for survival.

Abstract The stability of the buildings foundation in coastal areas caused by the submarine earthquake caused by the seabed plate movement has increasingly become the research focus of the engineering construction department. For the foundation under special geological conditions in coastal areas, the failure mechanism is complicated and the stress analysis is difficult. Based on the current situation of seismic design of building foundation in coastal areas, and aiming at the immature aspects of seismic treatment of foundation in coastal areas, this paper analyzes the optimization scheme of seismic design of foundation in such areas, which provides reference ideas for seismic design of building foundation in coastal seismic zones in China. In this paper, the research method is mainly through the comparative analysis of the relevant coastal engineering foundation treatment cases, the comparison of their treatment schemes and the combination of the existing foundation damping theory to summarize the suggestions on the foundation damping design under the special geological conditions in China’s coastal areas. In this paper, it is suggested that two aspects should be considered in the design of foundation vibration reduction in coastal areas: the application of dampers to reduce the vibration of foundation structures and the reinforcement of rock and soil under the foundation to meet the requirements of vibration reduction.

This study aims to explore the issue of declining social mobility in China, against the backdrop of China's economic development since the initiation of reform and opening-up in 1978. This study introduces an innovative urban spatial concept that vertically distributes three major social strata within a building, aligning them with different functional spaces. By closely integrating production resources and factors of production, this study regulates workers' labor time on the one hand and encourages them to maintain substantial purchasing power on the other hand. This novel perspective constructs a distinctive urban landscape. Since the initiation of economic reforms and opening up in China, the economy has experienced vigorous growth. However, social mobility has gradually decreased. Against this backdrop, this study takes the three major social strata as its foundation and reimagines the spatial arrangement within cities. By integrating social strata with functional spaces, the spatial manifestation of various strata's status and roles is the goal. Meanwhile, the introduction of production factors guides the behavior of workers. On one hand, labor time is regulated to seek more production resources. On the other hand, workers are encouraged to maintain higher purchasing power. However, it's worth noting that the current notion of "humans should be doing the same things" is gradually evolving into a utopian aspiration. Through this study, the aim is to encourage individuals to reconsider the connection between social mobility and class, along with exploring ways to establish a more inclusive and fair future within urban environments.

We analyze the coinage background and discourse practice features behind misandria labels of ‘X-male’ lexicon such as ‘fènghuáng nán’ and ‘wéisuó nán’, on Weibo platform, from which we collected corpus. Our investigation reveals that the misandria labels of ‘X-male’ lexicon manifest stigmatization, including implicit and interwined stigma, alongside the separation between public stigma and self-stigma. We argue that this kind of stigmatization may stem from the disruption of traditional Chinese social norms, the dominance of the capital market economy, and the amplification companied by social media, leading to trust crisis in Chinese society during the transitional period. Benefiting from our research, we can better comprehend the status of men in contemporary China, and lay the foundation for social initiatives toward gender equality.

Alumni giving is an emerging funding source for industry-research-oriented universities in China, which show unstable and limited growth compared to their elite counterparts despite providing their alumni a satisfactory campus experience. Identifying the mechanisms whereby campus experience satisfaction results in steady alumni donation is essential for providing guidance on effective alumni relations practice in the Chinese context. Using structural equation modeling, this quantitative study surveyed 238 alumni of an industry-research-oriented university in China to explore the relationships among campus experience satisfaction, faculty-alumni contacts, trust in foundation, and alumni-giving intention. The results indicate that campus experience satisfaction is a significant predictor of the other three, while also indirectly affecting alumni donation willingness, which includes faculty-alumni contact and trust in foundation. It was also revealed that trust in foundation could be enhanced by strengthening contact between faculty and alumni. Theoretically, this study identifies and reveals the key determinants of increased alumni giving and their interactive mechanisms in the Chinese higher education ecosystem. For sustainability, suggestions for optimizing alumni relation practices are provided to university administrators and policymakers to advance higher education’s contribution to social and economic development.

ABSTRACTAn increasing body of research has applied an institutional perspective to understand actors’ responses to conflicting institutional logics and the creation process of new organizational forms. Although China provides a natural, real-time laboratory to study this topic, scant empirical research has been done. Moreover, we find it is insufficient to apply current frameworks, which have been mainly driven by studies conducted in Western contexts, to study actors’ responses to institutional multiplicity in China, especially in its emerging non-profit sector. This article fills research gaps by providing an in-depth case analysis of the creation and legitimation process of the One Foundation – the first independent charity foundation established by civic individuals in China. Our study shows that the coexisting and competing relationship among state, civil society, social mission, and market logics provides impetus for organizational change and innovation. This article theorizes a temporal model by showing that actors seek provisional solutions in different organizational stages and gradually develop capabilities to progress institutional work from individual to organizational and to societal level to achieve their goals. By showing how a charity foundation plays a role as a change agent, this article also sheds light on the condition and process that drive innovation in China's non-profit sector.

Examples from China are provided. Findings Markets need morality. Research limitations/implications There are more religions in the world than just Islam and Christianity; however, space limitations force me to only consider those two religions. Furthermore, there are more countries in the world than just China. However, space limitations force me to only pull examples from China. Practical implications Economists should recognize that markets need morality, and they should start teaching that to their students. Social implications If markets are built on a foundation of ethics, then society prospers. In the absence of that foundation, societies falter. When a government, business and religious institutions see each other as complementary forces, then ethics can evolve. Originality/value The author knows of no other studies that explain the three types of ethical theories, compares those theories to what the sacred scriptures of Islam and Christianity say and to what economic theory says, and then uses examples from China to illustrate the need for morality.

Purpose Funding small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may be especially valuable in China to stimulate innovation and its emerging market economy. These firms have been advised to build on the Chinese value of guanxi to manage conflicts and develop relationships with banks. This study aims to explore the nature of relationships that help SMEs inform banks and convince them to provide credit. Design/methodology/approach As this study’s theorizing is about whether banks and firms that manage their conflicts for mutual benefit set the foundation for bank’s confidence in extending credit, therefore, both the bank officers and the company managers were asked to provide information for the study. In total, 106 pairs of bank officers in the loan department of four banks and SME managers in Shanghai, China, completed a questionnaire survey for this study. Findings Results support the argument that marketing research on customer orientation and organization behavior research on conflict management identify how to develop effective marketing relationships between SMEs and banks in China. Banks that were customer-oriented laid the groundwork for managing conflict cooperatively and not competitively with borrowing firms. Cooperative conflict management in turn was found to convince banks that they could confidently provide credit and to convince borrowers that their transaction costs will be reasonable. Originality/value This study identifies that developing guanxi and the capacity to manage conflict cooperatively are an important foundation for providing credit to SMEs in China.

By analyzing an extensive dataset comprising 35,435 firm-year observations from 3,889 A-share listed companies spanning the years 2006 to 2019, the research scrutinizes various governance mechanisms, including board size, independence, CEO duality, and ownership concentration. The investigation affirms that larger boards and a higher proportion of independent directors exert a positive influence on CSRD. In contrast, a substantial shareholding ratio held by the largest shareholder proves to be a hindrance to the transparent disclosure of CSR initiatives. While the impact of CEO duality on CSRD is noted, the statistical significance of this relationship remains inconclusive. These findings underscore the nuanced dynamics of governance and ownership structures in shaping CSR initiatives. The findings highlight the nuanced impact of governance and ownership structures on CSR initiatives, offering valuable insights for managers and policymakers navigating CSR strategies in China’s business landscape. Social mobilization has long been considered a major characteristic of Chinese life and, more recently, a key aspect of China’s state capacity. The existing literature on social mobilization in the country, however, is characterized by studies of pre-1978 China, many of which are scattered and fragmentary. This problem has not only resulted in misjudging the vital role of social mobilization as a process of change and an analytical construct, but has also overlooked the work of other researchers, especially those in China, studying a wide range of aspects of socio-economic and socio-political activities in present-day China. As a result, the research literature has not kept pace with the profound changes occurring in the country, providing no adequate theoretical foundation and capability for analyzing and theorizing the dynamics at work in contemporary China. This analytical article seeks to critically review the current state of knowledge relating to social mobilization in China and the main theoretical problems in the literature, paying special attention to the missing links between different perspectives.

China’s urbanization process is currently in a transition phase from rapid growth to slow growth, necessitating the implementation of sustainable measures in urban planning. Urban regeneration (UR), being one of the fundamental mechanisms for achieving sustainable urban development, has received considerable attention. UR promotes sustainable development by reusing abandoned land and buildings, improving energy efficiency, and enhancing the ecological environment. However, UR involves numerous stakeholders who may have conflicting interests due to factors such as the environment, technology, and economy, thereby giving rise to social risks (SRs). These SRs pose a threat to the success of UR projects and can also lead to social instability, as well as hindering sustainable urban development. Identifying risk sources forms the foundation of and key to risk management. Therefore, this research employs an integrated qualitative and quantitative method to explore the SR factors (SRFs) related to UR for China. On the basis of the grounded theory method, case study examination was used for data collection, resulting in the identification of 22 specific categories and five main categories. Through quantitative analysis, the identified SRFs and five main classifications of UR in China were verified, namely the negative effects of demolition and relocation, the negative environmental effect, the negative effect of technology, the organization-related negative effect, and the negative effect of policy. Among them, the unfair compensation for demolition and relocation has the greatest impact on the SRs in UR. Based on further analysis of the quantitative results, this study proposes three measures to alleviate the UR-related SRs for China on the macro, meso, and micro levels, which include improving policy and the legal system, enhancing collaborative governance capacity, and strengthening public participation. This research also has reference value in the context of promoting UR for other developing countries.

The birth of human is a miracle in earth history, and the earliest human could be traced back to Sahelanthropus tchadensis, who had existed for at least about seven million years. In cultural anthropology, human is defined as a creature capable of using language, having a complex social organization, and science and technology. The origin of human has always been the focus of the field of paleoanthropology, including creationism, theory of evolution, panspermia, and aquatic ape hypothesis. Although there is some evidence to support each hypothesis, conclusive evidence is still lacking. China has a favorable geographical location and a good foundation in the field of paleoanthropology and related disciplines. The scientists from China successively discovered the fossils of Homo erectus, Heidelberg man, Homo sapiens and Danisova man, and made an important breakthrough in the “from fish to man” research. However, the exploration of the origin of human beings in China is facing challenges such as extensive research fields, lack of high-level scientific research bases and insufficient fossil discovery and identification. It is suggested that the research on the origin of human beings in China should focus on the three fields of land, ocean, and space, find more fossils and evidence, strengthen the identification and research of fossils, and cultivate more talents with international perspectives through the construction of high-level research bases and cross collaboration.

With the rapid development and continuous popularization of quality education in China, the diversification and practicality of education forms have become a problem that China's education management departments pay more attention to. The management of higher education is the foundation of all management work in colleges and universities, and it is also a key means to promote the construction of a socialist country and the all-round progress and development. In China's traditional educational thinking, colleges and universities are mostly based on theoretical knowledge education, and there is still a big gap between practical teaching and developed countries, which makes students' actual innovation ability not strong and cannot create a good growth space for students. Therefore, the management department should take innovative teaching ideas as the foundation, improve the management of college education, effectively promote innovative education concepts, and effectively improve the quality of college education management. This paper analyzes the problems existing in the reform of college education management, puts forward a new development concept for the practical application of college education management reform, and strives to provide new ideas and enlightenment for the future development of colleges and universities.

In this paper, a three‐dimensional eco‐epidemiological model with delay is considered. The stability of the two equilibria, the existence of Hopf bifurcation and the permanence are investigated. It is found that Hopf bifurcation occurs when the delay τ passes a sequence of critical values. Moreover, by applying Nyquist criterion, the length of delay is estimated for which the stability continues to hold. Numerical simulation with a hypothetical set of data has been done to support the analytical results. Based on the example of the Prehistory Department of the National Museum, the present paper examines two of the ways in which the Museum has communicated with the public from the time of its foundation to, basically, the present: through the activities of collecting and researching. In the case of collecting activities, the text outlines how the proportion of donations and purchases along with the Museum’s discoveries evolved depending on social, political and, for example, legal circumstances. In the case of research activities, it illustrates the significance of the overall context regarding the development of archeology and its institutional protection. An irreplaceable role in the whole process was, however, played by important personalities of the Museum’s Archeology Department, such as J. L. Píč and J. Neustupný.
