The aim of the paper is to present how the culture of convergence has influenced the fairy tale. Jack Zipes stated that since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the “sense of wholeness, seamless totality, and harmony” has become a basic experience of the fairy tales’ audience. The totalisation of the fairy tale is both a continuation and a transformation of the described tendency, claims the author. Creating fairy tales’ universes in comics, TV series, movies etc. and building fairy tales’ supersystems are the expressions of the phenomenon. As opposed to Disney productions, contem-porary fairy tales are patchworks, with visible stitches between heterogenic elements. Due to open composition new elements (plots, characters etc.) could be added without end, but creating connec-tions between them is challenging and nowadays one of the most interesting aspects of fairy tales.

Stereotypes against Asians emerge and develop as a form of propaganda for Americans. Cho Chang, a character from the Harry Potter film series, exemplifies negative stereotypes of Asian women. Accordingly, this study aims to identify which stereotypes of Asian women correspond to the existing reality. Using Barthes’ semiotic theory, this study employed qualitative analysis. The findings indicate stereotypes that fit the audience’s interpretation, i.e., Asian women are exotic and charming, Asians are academically intelligent, and Asian women easily change their partners. Meanwhile, stereotypes that do not fit with the audience’s interpretations include: Asians are clumsy, weird, and disliked by Americans, and the “Dragon Lady” image of Asian women who is cunning, sadistic, and untrustworthy.

AbstractIn the past, pigs were kept near their guardians' (owners') homes, ate leftovers from their guardians' kitchens and enjoyed a generally close relationship with humans. The closeness of the relationship, combined with its ultimate end in the killing of the pig, led to a sense of shame (Leach, 1964). This shame manifested itself in negative expressions about pigs within the English language, which remain to this day. However, the relationship between humans and pigs is becoming increasingly distant, with decisions affecting pigs' lives made in the offices of agricultural industry executives far from the intensive farms on which the pigs live. The new relationship has led to the evolution of a new discourse about pigs, that of the modern pork industry. Because of its technical and scientific nature, this new discourse does not contain the explicit insults of mainstream discourse.Yet, embedded within it are a series of implicit ideological assumptions designed to justify the confinement and exploitation of pigs in high intensity farms. This paper investigates the discourses surrounding pigs in both mainstream (British) culture and the pork industry and discusses attempts to challenge these discourses.

Walt Disney‘s first animated series was in 1922 (David McGowan, 2010), and that was the first promise ever made by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures that there is a destiny called "happily ever after". Till then, we were raised to believe that one day our prince or princess charming will come and “they lived happily ever after” will be the ending of our love stories. Despite this, when one or both people's feelings started to change, divorce is the only possible solution to continue with their destiny “they lived happily ever after”. Therefore, this study explored the impact of cultural narratives implanted in our society on committed relationships and divorce. The purpose of this study was to explore how matrimonial lawyer and marital therapist fulfil their ability to preserve the divorce/ separation objectivity by bringing a new changeover for a new beginning of their client's life. In addition, this research provided an initial review of how attorneys and marital therapists can use their skills to maintain objectivity in maintaining the essential obligations in their profession while handling divorce proceedings.

The article reconstructs the only visit of the Romanian poet Nichita Stănescu to Chişinău from a series of testimonies of local writers. Nichita Stănescu arrived in the capital of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic in 1976, during a period of complicated Soviet-Romanian relations, which made difficult the communication between Romanian-language writers from the republics on the two banks of the Prut. The haloed poet in the Bucharest environment and recognized as an unmistakable symbol of Romanian lyricism enjoys special sympathy among the Romanian-language writers from Chișinău, so the news of his participation in the events of the Soviet Literature Week in Moldova festival provoked and attracted attention. Every gesture he made, from the barely sketched to the exaggerated expressions, became a veritable charming show that was fixed in the memory of the witnesses and generated miniature stories. The stories about Nichita Stănescu first circulated in oral form, as living folklore in the narrow circles of writers. When it became possible, a series of testimonies about the gestures of the beloved Romanian poet appeared in the press. Together, the evocations of the “gentle angel who announced the opening of the windows” created the portrait of a Nichita Stănescu of Chișinău residents. In turn, Nichita Stănescu left a particularly expressive and representative metaphor about the city of Chişinău, of which she said was “a white pearl, in so much pure green”.

I attended all the lectures C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien gave in 1948 to 1951. My own teaching of English Renaissance literature at Birmingham University was informed by Lewis’s volume in the Oxford History of English Literature (1954), parts of which I had heard him give as lectures. At Birmingham we started a series of Medieval and Renaissance texts, and I wrote to Lewis and ask him if he would be our General Editor; he said, yes. He asked me to meet him, correspondence followed, and I quote from a long, witty, and wise letter about an edition of mine, and about another edition which Lewis disliked and I also quote from that sharper letter. I knew Tolkien because, as an undergraduate I attended his weekly seminars. At that time he himself was greatly interested in Ancrene Wisse and the Katherine Group. He lectured on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Much later, in 1972, I met Tolkien again, at a book-launch party. I ventured to speak to him. I gave my name, and in his charming way he said he remembered me. I wondered at that, but took it as evidence of his kindness.

The series of International Symposia on Solubility Phenomena and Related Equilibrium Processes (ISSP) brings together chemists from a wide range of fields where solubility plays an important role. This variety was well reflected at the 12th ISSP where the plenary and invited lectures included: gas solubilities (Maurer) and gas hydrates (Sloan); solubility limitations to lithium-air batteries (Salomon); studies of solubilities at high pressures (Sawamura); solubility considerations in radioactive waste management (Wanner); kinetics of precipitation and dissolution in hydrothermal systems (Wesolowski); crystal growth and dissolution processes (Koutsoukos); and preferential crystallization (König). Those presented here illustrate this breadth of subject matter and highlight the combination of fundamental and applied research that characterizes this field.A tradition has developed in the ISSP series of holding a workshop on one topic of particular interest, in parallel with the scientific program. This yearís workshop related to the current state of thermodynamic databases that could be used in understanding and predicting the properties of complex systems, for example, those encountered in constructing waste management facilities. A paper summarizing the workshop discussions is included in this compilation. The series of Solubility Phenomena grew out of the work of the IUPAC Solubility Data Commission and has been continued through the auspices of IUPAC's Subcommittee on Solubility and Equilibrium Data. The first in this biennial series of meetings was held in 1984 at the University of Western Ontario, and, while subsequent meetings have commonly been held in North America (Newark and Troy) or Europe (Guildford, Moscow, Leoben, Varna, and Aveiro), meetings in Buenos Aires, Hammamet, and Niigata have ensured that all continents have hosted these enjoyable meetings. The ISSPs are consistently friendly and interesting meetings that bring together scientists and friends from many fields and all parts of the world. The 12th ISSP, held from 23 to 28 July, was entirely in keeping with this tradition with over 100 participants from 30 countries converging on the charming town of Frieberg in Saxony where traditional German hospitality combined with the weather to make a memorable meeting.Earle WaghorneConference Editor

The popularity of vampire novels has come and gone over the years. And the romantic novels seem more popular than ever before. The male vampire have taken the stereotyperole as a sexual object. But what is it that makes the male characters desirable? The vampire genre was developed from defining female vampires as sexual freeand liberal but with a punishment awaiting them. Now the male side has been given thisrole, but without the punishment. Instead it gets involved with human females andpromises them true love forever and ever. This disquisition takes a closer look on thepopular male vampires: Eric Northman from Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse Novelsand Edward Cullen from Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Series. Both novels display various sexual norms, two males with different masculinities. In Twilight Series society advocates sexual restraint and intercourse for reproductionpurposes only. While Sookie Stackhouse Novels projects a sexual liberal society wherehomosexuals and heterosexuals are equal in existence and where intercourse is forpleasure and everyone’s private right. By using character analysis and critical discourse analysis regarding to thedisplayed state of the society in the novels, the purpose of this disquisition is to analysehow Eric Northman's and Edward Cullen's masculinity and sexuality are shaped.

J.K. Rowling has detailed the wizarding world she imagined in terms of characters, places, events, and their relations with each other and has established a fantastic world. This world has been processed by putting all the technological possibilities and ingenuity of the Hollywood film industry into action, and as a result, a world-class industrial cinema series has emerged. At the beginning of the story, we encounter a utopian and charming wizarding world where Voldemort loses his influence and is accepted as dead by most wizards, where equality, order, balance, peace, and prosperity prevail. However, in the later parts of the story, with Voldemort regaining power, the wizarding world evolves into an unjust, discriminatory, and evil, that is, dystopian, where pure blood is important. In the study, spaces with philosophical-theoretical-metaphorical references were analyzed and the representative change of physical spaces related to the world of good and evil was examined and evaluated on the timeline.

Albert Tucker was a modern Australian painter, known best for his series of works depicting the horrors of wartime and harsh images of the Australian landscape. Tucker was an artist of seemingly irreconcilable contrasts. He was a social conservative who in his youth flirted with the Communist Party. He was a master draughtsman and charming illustrator, yet produced challenging works that are, to many viewers, dense and unfathomable. A child of the Depression, he knew hardship, yet clung firmly to his middle-class values and maintained fierce determination to succeed financially. With an often forbidding public persona, he was also known as a man of great charm and personal warmth. Largely self-educated, he worked first as a commercial artist, illustrator, and cartoonist before falling in with young modernist contemporaries Sidney Nolan and Arthur Boyd and the Heide Circle surrounding John and Sunday Reed. An artist of uncompromising determination, he was to gain the reputation and financial reward he always saw as his due. As the mythos surrounding the world of Heide and the Angry Penguins continues to grow, so does Tucker’s place in Australian art, now firmly recognised in a permanent gallery in his name at the Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne.

Abstract Rima la musica e poi le parole. According to Friedrich Blume, part of the ‘genesis of modern historical musicology’ itself is due to the music of Josquin des Prez. He tells a charming little story of how a ‘very young man’ came up to him one day in 192 7 full of enthusiasm (more strongly, actual ‘love’) for theMissa Pange lingua, the first mass by Josquin desPrez to appear in modern edition (in volume 5 of Ambros’s Geschichte derMusik ).The young man begged Blume to allow his students to sing the work, which he had ‘copied and mimeographed’, that is, copied by hand onto those purple-finger-staining sheets that some of us still remember, in a true ‘labour oflove’ (emphasis on the labour). That performance, born of youthful enthusiasm for the music, was, according to Blume, the fansetorigo of the torrent of words and editions that has appeared in the seventy years since, not merely about Josquin but about all of ‘early music’. The effect of singing the 400-year-old work was such that it awakened in Blume and his students a burning desire to know more, to hear more, to sing more of the music not only by Josquin but by his contemporaries. As a direct result of his experience with bringing the music ofJosquin to life, Blume founded the series Das Chorwerk, to allow more Renaissance music to be brought to life in modern edition. Countless editions and scholarly studies have followed, intending to bring more music and even the composers of that music to ‘life’. The flow is now subsiding under postmodern pressure, but it still has not been completely stifled.

Streszczenie:
There has been a rise in interest in mythological stories recently. To meet the needs of today's readers, writers have begun reworking mythology for modern times. To feel more rooted in their history and culture, young people want to read legendary stories. Popular fiction's newest, thriving genre is mythology. Fiction that appeals to the public and speaks to their ambitions and aspirations is referred to as popular fiction. The narrative of mythical tales has changed because of writers like Amish Tripathi who have identified with the reading public's pulse. With his Ram Chandra Series, Tripathi has taken legendary figures and given them a human face without diminishing their grandeur. He uses a combination of myth, logic, and fantasy to build his tales. When one looks at Indian mythology, Raavan, a character who primarily appears in the Epic of the Ramayana is generally acknowledged as one of the notable and prominent figures from India's ancient past. Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta by Amish Tripathi makes the case that villains are not born but rather develop over time. But instead, someone triggers them in trying circumstances. In mythology, Raavan is He created Ravanahatha because he was regarded as a great devotee of Lord Shiva. He is a person who is completely gifted, and his dedication to his profession has allowed him to reach the highest points in his life. Raavan is willing to give his life to protect his people, demonstrating his love for all Lankans. Raavan is praised in the press as a charming character. The essay aims to celebrate Raavan as a source of inspiration for young people. The purpose of this paper is to explain Raavan's characters and show how young people might be motivated by them. This essay's goal is to comprehend Raavan's life, how his predicament turned him into a villain, and how his traits influenced modern culture. The Ramayana is a compilation of legends from earlier eras that, in many ways, are still current now and embody timeless lessons. This study aims to identify factors that are increasingly significant in the modern world.

Chapter 3 explores an apparent relationship between human mortality in England and exposure to acid volatiles derived from the Laki fissure eruption of 1783. It has long been known that volcanic tephra and gases may be transported great distances (Thórarinsson 1981). Research into their impacts on human health and the environment has typically focused on populations and environments relatively close to the eruption (e.g. Oskarsson 1980, Rose 1977, Thórarinsson 1979). However, recent investigations of documentary sources such as diaries and newspapers have suggested that in particular meteorological situations, and where air masses are stable, profound health and environmental consequences may have occurred in the British Isles and elsewhere in Europe, at great distances from the volcanic source in Iceland (Brayshay and Grattan 1999, Dodgshon et al. 2000, Durand 2000, Durand and Grattan 1999, Grattan 1998 a and b, Grattan and Brayshay 1995, Grattan and Charman 1994, Grattan and Pyatt 1994, 1999, Grattan et al. 1998, Stothers 1996). This chapter presents and examines documentary evidence for human illness, which may have been induced by volcanogenic air pollution, and mortality in several widely dispersed villages in rural England in the late eighteenth century. Burial records for these settlements point to a singular peak in mortality in the summer of 1783, a period that is coincident with the peak concentration of volcanic gases from the Laki fissure in the European environment. The Laki fissure eruption took place between June 1783 and February 1784. It produced large quantities of acid volatiles — approximately ~120 Mt SO2, 6.8 Mt HC1, and 15.1 Mt HF plus H2S and NH3. Of the total compounds emitted, approximately 60% were emitted during the first few months of activity and the majority of these emissions were confined to the troposphere (Sparks et al. 1997,Thordarson et al. 1996, Thordarson and Self 1993). The eruption therefore generated the largest known air pollution event of the last two millennia (Stothers 1996) and, moreover, one that was entirely natural in origin. A series of stable high-pressure air masses were stationed over northwest Europe throughout the summer of 1783 (Kington 1988).

One of the filmmakers from the studio „Moldova-Film”, who supported and promoted our national values was Constantin Balan. Following the activity path of the artist from his coming to the studio „Moldova-Film” as a painter-scenographer until his dissolution, we detect the value conceptions, to which he remains faithful throughout creation. He made his debut as a painter-scenographer for the film „Alone in the Face of Love” (1969), directed by Gheorghe Voda, and later he will be requested by Director Vlad Iovita for the film-story „Prince Charming” (1977) and the historical drama „At the gates of Satan” (1980), for which he anchors in our national mythofolchloric relating it to the history of the people. In 1970 his dream during his studies at VGIK (1964—1969) is fulfilled — to create animated films. In this context, especially significant becomes his first film „Guguta” (made with the support and competition of Estonian director Elbert Tuganov), which will be auspicious and will be the head of a whole series of films with the character of writer Spiridon Vangheli.

Attention is focused on the art of sketching meaning, amplifying the plot of “the Temptation of St. Anthony”. Starting in the late middle Ages, the plot becomes the occasion for developing the problem of the miraculous. For centuries, the artist's attention has been focused on horrors and torments, then on temptations and longing. The bestiary serves as an occasion for developing the wonderful, the terrible, and the ugly. If in the Renaissance the attention is focused on torment and horror, in the New age the interest is shifted to seduction and vicious beauty. The interest in hallucinations poses the problem of combining the charming and the disgusting to Surrealists. Over the course of the epochs, the aesthetic meaning of the “Temptation” story is transformed from the frightening infernal, invading reality as le merveilleux, to the psychosexual energy of the unconscious, generating le merveilleux sexuel.

Streszczenie:
Societies with mass culture adopt organizational structures and management behaviors which are not based on rational thinking and scientific mentality. In contrast with the appearance of contemporary management approaches and applications, these societies are in a widespread management populism. In this context, the web pages, formal records and expressions of organizations about management contain items that sound and look “charming”. However, in the actual operation and management; management behaviors with serious internal management pathologies are dominant. While strategic plans and items of organizations in mass societies are equipped with concepts about contemporary management approaches, a post-modern process where all these concepts are meaningless is effective. For example, there might be serious inconsistencies among “vision, mission and values” stated in formal expressions and the organization’s actual management behaviors. If the impression shows that these inconsistencies are not incidental and temporary; but intentionally constructed by management; this situation should be accepted as organizational hypocrisy. The research part of this study planned to be conducted in dormitories of “Credit and Dormitories Institution” in Denizli, which were observed to be suitable for theoretical and conceptual explanations of the subject. The survey prepared to test the trust perceptions of the management officers and inhabitant university students did not accepted by the general management of Credits and Dormitories Institution so the research could not be done by that way. Instead, the information about strategic items on the organization’s web page was collected. The real and actual operations on these subjects were compared according to ethics approach.
