The Islamic community in Dasan Agung Village, in celebrating the Birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, is still dualism and two groups. One group concentrated on the mosque, and the other focused on the highway. Groups conducting mosque-centred celebrations carry out various activities to increase religious knowledge and faith one month before the core celebration. This study aims to determine the implementation of Mawlid celebrations in Dasan Agung, more specifically, the pattern of education applied by parents to children and the application of Islamic education to avoid deviations from Mawlid celebrations in Dasan Agung sub-district. The method used is qualitative, exploratory data obtained from observations and interviews. The results showed that the celebration of Prophet Muhammad's birthday in Dasan Agung village was carried out in two versions: celebrations centred on mosques and highways. Celebrations centred on the road, from preparation to the day of implementation of the teachings of Islam, far from religious demands, can even be declared as misleading celebrations.

"The article analyzes folk winter holidays celebrated in December before Christmas as the greatest holiday of all Christians. There is a combination of folk (pre-Christian) traditions with Christian traditions, which co-exist to this day. The holidays analyzed in the research are dedicated to the most common names of saints in Western Podillya (as well as in Ukraine as a whole), which are most often given to the local residents. Dmytro’s/St. Demetrios Day celebration, in addition to its Christian custom, characterized by church services in memory of martyrs and honoring birthday people, is also known by the traditions related to celebrating the land in winter period, protecting cattle, as well as the cult of deceased ancestors. Celebrations of Dmytro’s/St. Demetrios holiday are proceeded by the celebration of Michael’s Day, which symbolizes the arrival of winter. In Western Podillya St. Michael is known as a protector against evil forces. He is also perceived by the locals as the patron saint of wild forest animals and hunters. Until the middle of the 20th century St. Catherine’s Day celebration in Western Podillya followed the rituals reflecting pre-Christian beliefs. Among them are rites of “destiny calling”, fortune telling and divination (considering the destiny of a future marriage couple), as well as honoring the cult of ancestors. During Varvara/St. Barbara celebration the most evident are magical actions associated with fire and water as the main elements in the world creation and symbols of the Nativity of Jesus Christ in the Christian tradition. Such lunar symbols as dumplings and pies are important for the understanding of celebration rituals. Most ritual actions convey love courtships related to the choice of a future marriage partner. St. Anna’s holiday completes the cycle of holidays related to Christmas celebrations. It marks the beginning of Christmas preparations: women clean houses, men arrange farm buildings and property, provide food for festive meals, girls organize groups for singing carols and other traditional customs of Christmas holidays celebration. Keywords: Western Podillya, Christian religion, ceremonial action, divination, folk holiday. "

AbstractOn the night of July 15, 2016, the Republic of Turkey experienced yet another military coup attempt. However, this attempt failed, mainly due to civilian protest and casualties. Their sacrifice, according to the Turkish state, led to the creation of a new national celebration in Turkey, the “Democracy and National Unity Day.” Following the growing interest of historians in the field of national celebrations, this paper examines the creation of this holiday. It argues that the AKP government used this new holiday to shape the Turkish collective national memory and to introduce a national celebration that does not revolve around the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who symbolizes the secular camp in Turkey, but rather around the Justice and Development Party government and its more traditional and religious ideology, in the guise of celebrating Turkish democracy.

This paper aims to explore the true meaning of the Mysterium Paschale, namely Christ's passion, death, and resurrection, based on the liturgical celebration of the Sacred Triduum where the Church solemnly celebrates the greatest mysteries of redemption, namely the special celebrations of the memorial of the Lord, crucified, buried, and risen. This paper is designed as a hermeneutic qualitative research. The theological examination leads the author to some critical findings. First, the Sacred Triduum should be seen as one liturgical celebration that lasts three days. The Sacred Triduum shows an unseparated sequence of liturgical celebrations. Then, the Sacred Triduum regarded as one liturgical celebration reveals in turn a unified theological meaning, namely Mysterium Paschale which consists of the mystery of the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. By looking at the unity of the celebration of the Sacred Paschal Triduum and of its theological meaning, it is recommended that the faithful may prepare for the celebration thoroughly and be able to participate in the celebration of the Sacred Paschal Triduum as a whole so that they can experience the Easter Mystery as the culmination of the history of our redemption.

Background Professional and amateur soccer players often perform dramatic on-field feats of celebration after scoring a goal. Injuries may occur during these activities. Purpose With the aim of preventing such “score-celebration injuries” in the future, the authors examine these events in professional soccer players and discuss potential avenues for prevention. Study Design Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Methods Over the course of 2 seasons (1996-1998), 152 soccer players were evaluated at an orthopaedic clinic for injuries incurred during matches. Nine players (6%) had injured themselves while celebrating after scoring goals in a match. The type of celebration, injury type, treatment, and mean duration of recovery were noted. Results Seven of the 9 patients were male professional soccer players with ages ranging between 17 and 29 years (mean age, 24 years). The injuries occurred when the playing ground was natural turf in 8 cases; most injuries occurred in the second half of the game. The types of celebration maneuvers were sliding (prone or supine) and sliding while kneeling in 5 cases, piling up on jubilant teammates in 3 cases, and being tackled while racing away in 1 case. Injuries included ankle, clavicle, and rib fractures; medial collateral ligament sprain; low back strain; hamstring and adductor muscle strain; quadriceps muscle sprain; and coccyx contusion. The mean duration for recovery was 6.2 weeks. Rival team players were usually not responsible for such trauma. Conclusion Exaggerated celebrations after making a goal, such as sliding, piling up, and tackling a teammate when racing away, can result in serious injury. In addition to general measures for preventing soccer injuries, coaches and team physicians should teach self-control and behavior modification to minimize the risk of such injuries. More restrictive rules, which penalize such behavior, may assist in the prevention of score-celebration injuries.

The triumph was the most prestigious accolade a politician and general could receive in republican Rome. After a brief review of the role played by the triumph in republican political culture, this article analyzes the severe limits Augustus placed on triumphal parades after 19 BC, which then became very rare celebrations. It is argued that Augustus aimed at and almost succeeded in eliminating traditional triumphal celebrations completely during his lifetime, by using a combination of refusing them for himself and his relatives and of rewarding his legates who fought under his auspices with ornamenta triumphalia and an honorific statue in the Forum of Augustus. Subsequently, the elimination of the triumph would have been one natural result of the limit placed on further imperial expansion recommended by Augustus in his will, a policy his successors chose not to follow. Tiberius, however, was unwilling to conform to this new order and retired from public life to Rhodes the year after celebrating a triumph in 7 BC, the first such celebration since 19 BC. Tiberius' two triumphs and the senate's repeated offers of further triumphs to Augustus himself represented a different vision of the role triumphal celebration should take in a restored res publica and an ongoing challenge to the princeps.

However, some other Muslims actually think that blowing out candles at a celebration is a sign of gratitude. This research is aimed at analyzing how many people cultivate candle blowing in celebrations and how Muslims view blowing candles at a celebration because this problem reaps pros and cons from Muslims themselves. During the last decade, local celebrations of winter solstice on the 21st of December have increased all over Denmark. These events refer to the Old Norse ritual of celebrating the return of the light, and their appeal is very broad on a local community level. By presenting two cases of Danish winter solstice celebrations, I aim to unfold how we can understand these new ritualisations as non-religious rituals simultaneously contesting and supplementing the overarching seasonal celebration of Christmas. My material for this study is local newspaper sources that convey the public sphere on a municipality level. I analyse the development in solstice ritualisations over time from 1990 to 2020. Although different in location and content, similarities unite the new solstice celebrations: they emphasise the local community and the natural surroundings. My argument is that the winter solstice celebrations have grown out of a religiously diversified public sphere and should be understood as non-religious rituals in a secular context.

From the general observations based on the archives of Television Slovenia and limited experience with state celebrations, I am discovering individual examples and elements of the expression of the state celebrations of the past year, when celebrations broke into the public domain exceptionally and in the form of a scandal. I am trying to answer the question of what makes a national celebration effective and what enabled the SDS party to effectively appropriate the form despite their low standard. Ultimately, I also speculate on the question of how this could be countered.

The article discusses the question of how Independence Day is celebrated in the new Balkan states, what semantic content these countries invest in it and how events of the past are reflected in the process of creating modern state and national traditions. The new states in the Balkans are rebuilding both internal relations within the country and the system of external relations. The celebration of Independence Day becomes a link between the promises of political leaders and the expectations and reactions of the citizens of a particular state to the annual evaluation of their independent existence. At the regional and international level, this celebration is a kind of demonstration of the validity of the chosen path of development. However, there are regions in the Balkans whose independence is controversial from the viewpoint of international law. Nevertheless, this does not prevent them from staging magnificent celebrations and receiving salutations from all over the world. This holiday, which should seemingly play a consolidating role, can in fact cause serious disagreements that call into question the country’s independence. Thus, even through legal proceedings, it is not possible to work out a clear criterion for celebrating this day.

In times of the Covid-19 pandemic, many congregations had to stop celebrating the Eucharist or find new ways to do so – one of these being online Eucharist services in synchronous and diachronous settings. The article describes developments in the Protestant Churches of Germany and shows that the interplay of theology and church practices is essential. On the background of the fundamental dialectics of absence and presence in (Christian) liturgy and Luther’s writings on the Lord’s Supper, the article proposes two axes that open up a ‘field’ of diverse ritual practices: community and gift. Many different ways of celebrating the Lord’s Supper seem to be possible in this field – also celebrations in synchronous digital settings (video conferences). The Covid-19 crisis is seen as a chance to rethink sacramental theology and ways of celebration – in the context of a permanent change of liturgical practices.

Holidays are special ceremonies that enable societies to come together around common values. The Republic was declared as the result of the meaningful struggle of the Turkish nation to establish a new and independent state. Two years after its establishment, it started to be celebrated as a national holiday on April 19, 1925. Republic Days, which were initially celebrated in certain centers, were celebrated in different cities over time. Grandiose celebrations took place in 1902 in Bulgaria on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the epopee of Shipka. The idea for the celebration belongs to the “Tsar Osvoboditel Alexander IIˮ Committee. Started as a public initiative, the preparations for the jubilee received the full support of the Bulgarian prince, and at a later stage, the government in Sofia became involved. The present study reveals the activity of the Bulgarian country to organize the celebration and to ensure Russian presence at it. The different visions of Sofia and Petersburg regarding the nature of the celebrations and the reasons for the difficult communication between the two countries are presented. Moreover, the article emphasizes the efforts of the Bulgarians to turn the anniversary into a demonstration of the close relations between Bulgaria and Russia. Last but not least, the study interprets the Shipka celebrations as the first manifestation of the so-called jubilee diplomacy, which gained momentum in this period and used landmark historical events and the celebrations organized in their honor to achieve political goals.

It is a special moment in the history of STS. With the young discipline transitioning into a not so-young-field-anymore, there is plenty of reason for celebrations: defining groups are celebrating remarkable anniversaries and individual careers are celebrated when founding figures retire. These celebrations are also excellent moments for reflections on pasts, presents and futures of STS and the place of STS in the wider world. In this conversation, Wiebe Bijker, recently subject of his own retirement celebration in Maastricht (Bijker 2017), shares his views on STS. We travel with him from the Netherlands to India, and briefly stop in Edinburgh at SSU where we find the origin of the SCOT abbreviation. On the way, we discuss Dutch activism, teaching, the institutionalization of STS, the emergence of international networks, and different roads STS can take. We end with an optimistic view towards a global future, while emphasizing the importance of the inclusion of history and the classics.

This research examines the application of cultural values towards the participation of the congregation in the Eucharistic celebration at the Parish of Santa Maria Immaculata Wayun Palu-Rejo, located in the district of South Barito, Central Kalimantan. The parish exemplifies unity and tolerance among the faithful from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who participate in the Eucharistic celebration and other pastoral activities. A qualitative research method was employed, gathering data through interviews with 8 members of the congregation and 3 parish officials. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's analysis method. The results of the study indicate that the congregation of the Parish of Santa Maria Immaculata Wayun Palu-Rejo has applied cultural values in their participation during the Eucharistic celebrations. The use of language, music, dance, and traditional attire is evident in the Inculturation Mass and other Eucharistic celebrations. The spirit of mutual cooperation, empathy, and care for fellow believers also influences the congregation's participation in the Eucharistic celebration. Pastoral efforts and catechesis conducted by the priests and parish officials play a vital role in encouraging the congregation to appreciate and apply cultural values in church activities. The priests convey messages and advice on the importance of cultural values during sermons and socialization. The Inculturation Mass serves as one of the initiatives to incorporate cultural values into the Eucharistic celebration. In conclusion, the application of cultural values significantly affects the participation of the congregation in the Eucharistic celebration at the Parish of Santa Maria Immaculata Wayun Palu-Rejo. Pastoral efforts and catechesis by the priests and church officials help raise awareness among the congregation regarding the significance of culture in religious life. Culture and congregation participation in the Eucharistic celebration are interconnected and require cooperation between church officials and the congregation. A suggestion for further research is to gain a deeper understanding and analyze the impact of cultural values on the participation of the congregation in other aspects of church life. Additionally, involving other ethnic groups in the study would provide a more comprehensive overview of the cultural diversity in this parish.

Apart from certain customs, the aforementioned holidays are also characterized by a certain type of food as their recognizable feature. The subject of consideration in the paper will be the food that is prepared for the holidays of the Christmas cycle among the Serbs in the Romanian Banat and among the Serbs in Vojvodina.

Position of the Polish Workersʼ Party on the celebration of Independence Day The history of the anniversary celebrations on 11 November reflects the complicated traditions of the nation and the Polish state. For years the celebrations were accompanied by numerous changes in the ideological, legal, political and ritual layer. Individual political and social formations as well as subsequent generations of Polish citizens celebrated the anniversary of regaining independence by assigning to it different ideological, political and axiological values. Ove the course of a hundred years, it has gained a different legal and political status. From the celebration of local military circles, then political, through national anniversaries, school ceremonies to the establishment of a public holiday. In the 21st century, the holiday is additionally used by various political forces. The main form of the celebration is the Independence March. During the march Polish patriotic and human values are presented. But it also becomes the grounds for publicizing various values and anti-values. International interest in the march is dictated by the propagation of sometimes anti-democratic slogans and the political situation in Poland and the EU. Various political forces sometimes try to use the Independence Day in a spectacular way for political purposes, for media coverage, for election fights with political opponents.

A family celebration named slava or krsna slava (celebration/glorification or christened celebration) is a unique custom within the tradition of the Serbian Orthodox Church, where each family annually celebrates its patron saint. Besides Christmas, slava represents one of the most important celebrations in the life of each family. Though its roots reach as far back as the medieval times, slava and its role in the family tradition were neglected and marginalized during the communist period of the Serbian history. With the revitalization of religion and especially the reaffirmation of the Serbian Orthodox Church at the end of the last century, slava regained its significance and recognition, and even exceeded the private family sphere. It is nowadays often used as an indicator of one’s nationality and status with little real connection to its authentic religious meaning and purpose. Additionally, this originally family custom has now become a celebration day for many public institutions, companies, and professional associations. This paper aims to present slava’s distinctive structure and features, as well as explore ways in which the transformation is related to the revitalization of religion and growing nationalism in transitional Serbian society.

Abstract The celebration of Mawlid has sparked ongoing discussions among traditionalist and modernist Muslims. Traditionalists perceive Mawlid as a cherished tradition symbolizing joy and love for Prophet Muhammad, passed down through generations. Conversely, modernists often deem it heretical, indicating a societal decline. Within this discourse, an unconventional Mawlid phenomenon has emerged—celebrations hosted in cafes in Yogyakarta, primarily attended by Muslim youth, in contrast to the traditional mosque gatherings of older generations. The Cafe-based Mawlid celebration is characterized by a relaxed atmosphere, humor, simplified lectures, and diverse participation, stand out for their uniqueness. This qualitative, phenomenological study delves into the dynamics of Mawlid celebrations in Yogyakarta's cafes, seeking to unveil the motivations propelling Muslim youth participation. This paper argues that the evolution of Mawlid celebrations, initially confined to mosques and exclusive to traditionalist Muslim groups, has now transitioned to public spaces like cafes, welcoming diverse participants. his shift underscores the dynamic interplay between religious traditions and the changing socio-cultural landscape. In the second half of the 20th and in the early 21st century, that is during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, the New Year was – and it still remains – one of the main calendar holidays celebrated by the urban population in Ukraine. It can be said with confidence that it has become a focus of a variety of customs, traditions of its celebration, both borrowed from other holidays and newly formed, inherent only to this one holiday. The current paper deals with the changes in the traditions and rituals of celebrating the New Year in the second half of the 20th and early 21st century in Ukraine, and demonstrates that its status as the main winter calendar holiday pertaining to the transition from the old to the new annual cycle is still maintained. The specific pattern of the New Year celebration, i.e. the integral complex of customs, traditions and rituals characteristic of it, took shape in the 1950s–1960s and it has mostly survived to the present day. First of all, it retains the character of a family holiday and the decorated New Year tree, as well as abundant treats and gifts, are still its inherent attributes. At the same time, at the end of the 20th century, the New Year celebrations were enhanced with new forms, customs, and rituals; peculiarly, the revised and rethought European and Chinese rituals and symbols were included in the celebration system. They have greatly enriched the magical component of the New Year holidays, intended to conjure up a better coming year. The New Year’s Day maintains and develops its character as the main holiday of the period of transition from one calendar year to another. Such holidays have always been a part of the real life of society.

Owing to the multi-ethnic backgrounds, Malaysians celebrate their annual festivals and all of the celebrations have become a cultural tradition. The major ethnic group festival celebrations include Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Malays), Deepavali (Indians) and Chinese New Year (Chinese), have been recognised by the Malaysian government to be a national celebration and yearly events. These events are popularly known as Rumah Terbuka. Even though the celebration of Rumah Terbuka festivals have started and celebrated widely many years ago, each celebration has managed to attract a huge crowd from different ethnicities and backgrounds. People are willing to spend time queuing which sometimes could stretch into long hours before they can be seated and enjoy the Rumah Terbuka festivals. Therefore, it raises a question on factors that influence visitors to attend the festivals. Hence, this study empirically examines the factors that influence visitors to attend the Rumah Terbuka Aidilfitri festival. Using this festival in Perak as 26 the contextual setting, the visitors were given questionnaires to be answered. Through a series of analyses, some useful insights or predictors on the issue of interest were obtained. Majority of the respondents demonstrated positive responses on the attributes of the festival. Improvement needs to be done by the government authorities or the organiser in planning and managing such festival in order to increase visitor satisfaction. The findings for this study could contribute to the body of new knowledge regarding the festival celebration. Keywords: eid festivity, rumah terbuka, Malaysia, Malays, festival, foods, visitor

Eucharistic celebrations that use Javanese language are very rarely carried out in the Catholic church, thereby causing a lack of public knowledge, especially people about Javanese Eucharist. This research was conducted aiming to provide information and knowledge to the public about the form and presentation of the Javanese song for the choir used to accompany the celebration of the Javanese eucharist held at the church St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang. This descriptive - qualitative research took place at St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang on May 26 and June 30, 2019 with a priest, choir officer and church members as research subjects. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews and document studies. The data analysis technique used is interactive analysis. The results of the study revealed that the form of Javanese liturgical song presentation was used to accompany the celebration of the Javanese eucharist at the Church of St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang is the same as the form of presentation of the liturgical celebration of the Eucharist in general, in the form of a choir group, and the function of the use of Javanese liturgical songs in the celebration of the eucharist is as a means of communication and as a continuous contribution and cultural stability. Hopefully in the future the church will more intensively inform the celebration of the Javanese eucharist to the people, and hopefully the choir in charge can prepare song texts for the people, so as to increase the readiness and enthusiasm of the people in participating in the celebration of the Javanese eucharist at St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang.
