Pełny tekst źródłaThis research work focuses on the people who take care of others every single day, in a hospital. It’s about thinking of and dedicating time to the nursing and hospital staff who are constantly surrounded by diseases and people who suffer from them, who worries about them on an daily basis. What is their relationship to their selves and what kind of support do they get? I will question the way they may express their own pains, but also the role of the executive staff, the management and thus, of the institution in the presupposed encounter between the various people at stake. How relevant is it, from an intellectual and cultural point of view, to extend the philosophical thought of caring to the topic of the ethics of human staff in a hospital. To what extent does the use of the philosophical process of “care” offer a meaningful and coherent perspective to the sector of support in hospital today? It’s a way to make two minds meet and interact as Montaigne phrased it, and also to consider the transposition of the “care” process as described by Joan Tronto in her successive phases.Through this process, I will question how the four phases – Caring about, Taking care of, Care giving, Care receiving – are connected to the moral and ethical notions that go along with them – Attention, Responsibility, Competence, Response – and how they are likely to find their place in the professional supporting relation

Pełny tekst źródłaThe thesis questions prevention practices designed for young people through the empowerment process that underlies the development of life skills. Starting from "history that counts" and a participatory method based on the reciprocal exchange of narratives, this research moves away from the epidemiological premise of evidence-based medicine (EBM) to explore, based on the dialogical hypotheses of “narrative medicine,” another way of approaching these health education practices. The empirical survey analyses a qualitative materials composed of interviews and plural narratives collected from 30 young people aged 15 to 20 years old. Built according to the MTE procedure, the inductive method is formalized from heuristic resources. Beyond the performative challenge of cooperative storytelling, the results attest to the development of psychosocial skills and the increase in confidence in one's own experience. Also, through the diversity of these narratives, they highlight the need to redefine the content of health knowledge as well as the notion of individual responsibility for each person's behaviour. Thought of as a "relational health", young people emphasize the need for sustained attention to the affects and vulnerabilities explored by the philosophical foundations of care

Pełny tekst źródłaThe “behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia” (BPSD) present, in the daily care of people with dementia, greater difficulties than other types of disorders, including cognitive. Literature and studies on these BPSD had so far not been critically reviewed to take stock of their definition and interpretation of these disorders and the prevention guidelines and appeasement which are proposed. This work, placing itself under the aegis of a phenomenological concept of dementia as developed by the English social-psychologist Tom Kitwood, will follow several key steps to better understand the different dimensions which are the origin of these disorders: changes in schools cognitive, mood alterations, environmental and psycho-social factors (stigmatization and exclusion in particular). These initial steps will lead a second time to present some of the tracks developed by several authors, including Louis Ploton, Tom Kitwood and his colleagues of the Bradford Dementia Group, to prevent these problems by developing a suitable care and a prosthetic environment. Then back to the heart of conceptions and definitions of BPSD. In order to approach them with a different look and better express what they perceive, what they tell us, what they call as philosophies and approaches of taking care

Pełny tekst źródłaThe position of nursing team managers in public hospital facilities has changed dramatically over the past ten years. It is now strongly focused on organization and administrative tasks, which draw them away from their role as nursing team managers dedicated to quality care to patients. Some of them resent this change in their job profile and find it very difficult to cope with this evolution. The intent of this thesis is to look into what causes this strain and to examine which elements in the training program could help prevent it. Among those elements, could research training (in a specific type of research to be defined further on) enable nursing team managers to enjoy their professional activity? First the author will define the function of nursing team manager through its history, its evolution and training methods. The author will then consider its specificities in the present day, based on three primary concepts: organization, management and support. Finally he will clarify the ‘care’ issue in the scope of the nursing team manager’s activity. These elements will give an understanding of how the research approach can promote the ‘art’ of ‘caring’ in the nursing team manager’s activity

Pełny tekst źródłaThis address to designers stems from an approach of anthropological decentering to think and take care of the digital as spiritual in the sense that Derrida designated the process of questioning but also the of technique in Heidegger. This route goes through a critique of the notion of information in Simondon to try to rethink "the soul of objects". It continues with an analysis of the question of the Flesh from Merleau-Ponty to propose the passage from a "digital suffering flesh" to an organology and a pharmacology of the digital gesture. Finally, it approaches what Bernard Stiegler called the technologies of the through the prism of Bergsonian intuition and Simondonian transduction to reintroduce analogical thought into the digital design of a dispositive benevolence, techno-estheú, cosmotechnic, ethical and political condiú)n for the development of the common good and of knowledge

Pełny tekst źródłaA discourse focused on the Other is firmly anchored in medical discourse. But what Other is being spoken about? What identity are we talking about when considering the otherness, recognition and vulnerability of the recipient of care? Whom are we recognising? Here, we will be exploring the relational balance within the patient-carer relationship in the field of dentofacial orthopedics. A structural approach to social representations, using concept maps, will be adopted in order to examine the relationship of the therapeutic partners to the concept of care provision - a symbolic component of the treatment process which is difficult to define explicitly. Introducing the notion of care provision means placing an emphasis on the ethical, technical and political content of the care relationship. The notion of the favourable reception of the patient, a central element of the relationship which is revealed by an analysis of representations based on questionnaires, highlights the role of identity in the contemporary reconfiguration of the care relationship - a hybrid model which combines a modulated form of medical paternalism and comparative emancipation. This original perspective enables us to examine these various value registers, which illustrate and testify to the notion of the individual. This dialectic of sameness and the Other, of the identity and the recognition of the participants, thus gives rise to a debate, simultaneously theoretical, ethical and political, focused on the relational space associated with care

Pełny tekst źródłaThe aim of this thesis is to raise awareness of how State Qualified Operating Room Nurses deal with the constant evolutions of their professional activity, such as legislation to reorganize the French health system which impacts strongly on operating rooms, new standards of activities and skills for operating room nurses, validation of work knowledge and experience, exclusive operating room acts, etc. It investigates the potential psychological discomfort felt by the personnel when they consciously avoid respecting good practices by committing routine violations (Bourrier, 1999) either through necessity or convenience (Reason, 2013). These nurses generally extoll the virtues of professional health care, notably “taking care” (Hesbeen, 1997), rigour, safety, quality treatment, and feel uncomfortable when committing any sort of violation which could increase the surgical risks for the patient. The theory of cognitive dissonance (Festinger, 1957) can help to understand such phenomenon insofar as these professionals combine incompatible cognitions such as safety and avoiding risks on the one hand, and violations on the other. Two complimentary methodologies are used here. The questionnaire of the quantitative survey allows the cognitions, values, and perfectible practices to be matched with the emotions felt by the nurses. A scale of 20 selfrelated affects is used to achieve this (Lecrique, 2007). The interviews and their thematic analysis of the qualitative survey bring to light different strategies for reducing dissonance. The final discussion deals with the professional context in which the nurses evolve, a context which is likely to normalize violations by generating an increase in accident-prone zones (Amalberti and al., 2006), at the expense of guaranteeing safe treatment in the service of the patient

Pełny tekst źródłaOur work aims at enhancing the quality of home caregiving for vulnerable patients. This objective is assessedvia a multidimensional study evaluating psychological characteristics of home caregiving, and also theconsequences of these acts on mental health and quality of life. Our data show that the structure of home caregiving is mainly of medical significance. A significance thatresponds to expectations of patients and their caregivers, and also the social interactions between both caregivingactors. We hence conclude that the actual structure of home caregiving does not refers to “right answers” andstill widely underused. Furthermore, the expert caregivers are likely to lack structuring of their competencies, asrelated to their know-how and life skills. These professionals show great difficulties expressing 1) the nature oftheir professional experience and 2) the complexity of some of their tasks. Another finding of our work is relatedto a high risk of home accidents which induces an important level of alertness. This outcome fits with a detailedanalysis of caregivers’ needs. Finally, our work highlights some recommendations for a better home caregivingfor vulnerable populations and their families. It seems that taking into account the collective experience of thecaregiving environment would address the deleterious effects of home caregiving, which may enhance thequality and efficiency of such intervention

Pełny tekst źródłaBased on fieldwork in New York between November 2021 and February 2022, the thesis examines the living and working conditions of waitresses in restaurants in the United States. Drawing on scientific literature on women's working conditions in the service sector, the thesis focuses on two books explaining waitresses' means of resistance (symbolic and political) in the USA. The testimonials collected from New York waitresses through phone interviews or in-person during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as observations conducted in restaurants in New York, constitute the material for the thesis. The first part looks at the history of the profession. The second part deals with the instability of the waitress's environment, before focusing on the tipping system in the third part. The fourth and fifth parts respectively delve into the symbolic representations that weigh on them and the resulting consequences on their bodies. Focusing on the notions of negotiation and resistance in the face of uncertainty, the research results showed that waitresses are not simply "victims" of a system, but that they navigate, they bargain with their working conditions and put in place symbolic and political resistance strategies, reappropriating their bodies in order to "play" with the customer and hope for a big tip. In fact, the majority of them are not in favor of abolishing this system, even if they recognize a partial alienation. The conclusion focuses on the link between "care" work and the loss of connection with the customer, linked in particular to the health crisis. As a result, waitresses no longer accept the "price to pay" for survival

Pełny tekst źródłaThe purpose of this research is to explore the psychic work mobilized in the learning of care in a subject-learner of a link profession, with the hypothesis of an interconnecting relationship between knowledge and learning. A timeless subject of current interest and a societal issue, care has been and still is the subject of numerous theories, but views differ on its definition, its attributes and its process. A scientific francophone methodical research from Cairn on care between 2015 and 2020 supports the theoretical framework and concludes this first part. Furthermore, as the production of knowledge refers to the idea of a relationship to a "knowledge object" as an object of satisfaction and pleasure (Mosconi, 1996), the second part of the literature review shows how the relationship to knowledge can induce particular forms of learning and knowledge construction which, in turn, modify the relationship to knowledge.Questioning her relationship to the research object, the author, a nurse-researcher, inscribes this work in a clinical approach of psychoanalytical orientation. Fifteen unstructured interviews conducted by videoconference in France, with medical auxiliaries or social work learners of different levels of training and territories, as well as neo-professionals, are studied using a thematic and then lexical analysis, the latter being carried out by TXM software (Heiden et al, 2010).The in-between encounter (Thouroude, 2022) with dependent, vulnerable, isolated people, supposes, on the part of the subject-learner, an inner psychic work consisting in recognizing his own fears, his own wounds, daring to share them, and feeling how to evolve through them. Resisting the temptation to have too much hold on the other person is also an aspect highlighted in the results, and this work on oneself must be carried out continuously by the future relationship professional. The relationship to knowledge remains omnipresent in the students' discourses, taking many forms, but orienting all the psychic activities of the subject-learner in such a way as to achieve pleasure or satisfaction. An in-between of care as a passage evoking the idea, in the psychoanalytical sense, of a symbolic space, a gap, a tension maintained between conscious and unconscious, results from the analysis of the content, this space consisting of three capacities constructed around four axes and four effects. In conclusion, a definition of this space, a place of transaction and mediation, is put forward and proposals are formulated for its consideration in the training of learners of link professions to the encounter with otherness
