AbstractDigitalization is both a major cause of the challenges now faced by several media industries and a source of their potential solutions. Within the book and newspaper industries, the value of the physical product is about to be surpassed by that of digitally delivered content, disrupting the distribution system that these industries have relied on for many decades. In particular, digital distribution has radically changed the way in which consumers engage in unpaid and paid media consumption.Anchored in the notion of disruptive innovation, and more specifically related to the idea of distribution as disruptive technology, our study investigates Generation Z’s unpaid and paid consumption of digital books and online local newspapers. Drawing on two Norwegian audience surveys, we find that both industries involve at least one disruptive actor. Generation Z relies heavily on Facebook as a distribution channel for news. Pay-walls have a negative effect on the usage of paid online local news, despite the belief that paywalled news is better than free news. In the Norwegian book industry, paper books still have a very strong position among Generation Z. Audiobooks have greater usage than e-books, and we conclude that the real disruptive actor in the Norwegian book industry is the streaming of audiobooks by actors such as Storytel.

The challenges and emergence of a global economy and a Digital First World has created financial disruptions in e-commerce and e-business around the globe. The collaborations of banks with Fintech companies have led to digitalization being an important component of their business and marketing strategy. The application of e-banking has been demonstrated as an effective cost reduction, risk management and provides quick services to the customers. Nowadays, e-banking services have already ensured opportunities to reduce expenditures on physical structures. However, in some previous studies it has been showed that e-banking has helped banks and financial institutions to reduce costs, increase revenue, and increase customer experience. With the growth of digital banking in India, it is significant to analyze the actual situation of customer satisfaction in the banking sector. This article evaluates the various new digital banking technologies in the banking sector of India which have gained momentum after various banking reforms like the digital financial inclusion, demonetization and GST implementation. It also identifies the relationship between the increasing trends in the usage of electronic banking and a customer paradigm shift from traditional cash and paper-based cheque payment systems and evaluates various challenges and opportunities in the implementation of digitalization. This research was carried out using multiple methodologies.

In today's digital era buyers and sellers are using digital payment applications with non-cash payment transactions, in this transaction, there are other parties involved, namely, digital payment providers, where the digital payment provider from the buyer will continue the transaction to the financial network used by the seller. quickly, safely and cheaply, and in real-time, so that immediately the buyer and seller know whether the transaction was successful or not because they are using their smartphone devices. Gender differences, between men and women, can lead to differences in terms of spending with transactions through digital payments, therefore this study will look at whether there are differences between men and women in terms of using digital payments. The research approach used is quantitative research with the help of a questionnaire. A total of 104 users were involved in this study to be asked for information about experiences in using various payments provided by four popular digital payment providers in Indonesia, namely Gopay, Ovo, LinkAja, and Dana. Abstract: The payments industry is changing as a result of mobile payments. These services give non-banking actors a way to break into the sector. Banks, who are already involved in the traditional payments sector, must provide mobile payments in order to meet this threat. Right now, we're in a digital era. India is about to see a significant digital revolution. The increasing connectivity that the Internet provides in today's society has altered the way that money is exchanged. The use of several technologies, including smartphones, computers, iPads, tablets, and the internet, has advanced dramatically in India. Smartphones and government initiatives like Digital India are acting as catalysts for the exponential growth in the use of digital payment as a result of the increase in internet users. In India, efforts are being made to switch to electronic payments. A digital payment system is one that processes payments through digital channels and an electronic network. Every transaction involving digital payments is completed online. It is a speedy and useful way to pay. With the aim of promoting cashless transactions and turning the Indian economy into a digital one, a number of digital payment options are available, including banking cards, USSD, UPI, AEPS, mobile wallets, POS terminals, Micro- ATMs, the internet, mobile banking, and BHIM.

An important step to achieve greater financial inclusion is to increase the acceptance and usage of digital payments. Although consumer adoption of digital payments has improved dramatically globally, the acceptance and usage of digital payments for micro, small, and medium-sized retailers (MSMRs) remain challenging. Using random forest estimation, we identify 14 key predictors out of 190 variables with the largest predictive power for MSMR adoption and usage of digital payments. Using conditional inference trees, we study the importance of sequencing and interactions of various factors such as public policy initiatives, technological advancements, and private sector incentives. We find that in countries with low POS terminal adoption, killer applications such as mobile phone payment apps increase the likelihood of P2B digital transactions. We also find the likelihood of digital P2B payments at MSMRs increases when MSMRs pay their employees and suppliers digitally. The level of ownership of basic financial accounts by consumers and the size of the shadow economy are also important predictors of greater adoption and usage of digital payments. Using causal forest estimation, we find a positive and economically significant marginal effect for merchant and consumer fiscal incentives on POS terminal adoption on average. When countries implement financial inclusion initiatives, POS terminal adoption increases significantly and MSMRs’ share of P2B digital payments also increases. Merchant and consumer fiscal incentives also increase MSMRs’ share of P2B electronic payments.

With the liberalisation of the Indian banking sector in 2014, the digital payment ecosystem has undergone a steady transformation which can be attributed to the usage of new technologies like Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR). Digital payment systems offer convenience and security while transacting. In 2010, a variety of payment products (stored value cards, wallets, and recharge vouchers) and service providers were introduced. The launching of Digital India in 2015, gave a further boost to the digitalization process. Initiatives have been taken to improve the payment infrastructure to make technology accessible and cost-effective. This study examines the growth of digital payments in India, growth in different modes of payment in India as well as growth in Indian Payment Infrastructures. For this study, data has been compiled from RBI Bulletin, RBI Annual Reports, RBI Reports and authentic websites. The analysis of Payment and Settlement System Statistics revealed exponential growth in the usage of various modes of digital payment. RBI has constructed Digital Payment Index (DPI) with a base period of March 2018 and a DPI score of 100. The high DPI scores released by RBI revealed the widespread use and deepening of digital payments in India. This has been made possible by the Government of India's and the RBI's consistent efforts to improve Payment Infrastructure. The study found that India is experiencing robust growth in the digital payments arena.

China has made advancements in the achievement of the poverty relief goal set by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. However, the rapidly changing socioeconomic environment and the increasingly growing complication of poverty in rural households make it necessary to enhance rural household development resilience to ensure poverty alleviation. With the rapid development of Internet technology, this paper assesses whether digital payments influence rural household development resilience. Based on it, this study takes rural China as its research area, selects samples of farmers’ household registration as its research object, uses the data recorded by China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) in 2015, 2017, and 2019, and constructs the index of “rural household development resilience” based on the family wellbeing model to empirically test the impact of rural households using mobile payments on development resilience. By considering the nonlinear dynamics of event development, this paper addresses the short-term effects of the previous exclusive examination of digital payments, providing a theoretical basis for future research on the relationship between digital payments and development resilience. The results show the following: (1) digital payments can significantly enhance rural household development resilience; (2) relaxing liquidity constraints and promoting farmer-oriented market participation are the primary mechanisms by which digital payments affect rural household development resilience, but digital payments do not have an impact on rural household development resilience by releasing credit constraints; and (3) the heterogeneity regression analysis showed that the promotion effect of digital payments on rural household development resilience is the strongest in the Western areas, at medium level in the Central areas, and the weakest in the Eastern areas. Thus, the influence of digital payments is not significant to rural household development resilience. Based on the conclusions mentioned above, this article proposes countermeasures and suggestions.

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the current state of the level of digitalization of customs payments, the administration of which is entrusted to the customs authorities. In particular, this work is devoted to the study of the expediency and effectiveness of administration through digitalization of customs payments. The article discusses the role of digitalization in the administration of customs payments. Customs payment systems are one of the significant factors of revenue receipt to the state budget. First of all, this is due to the time of processing customs documents, which the customs authorities are spending their resources on. On the part of customs administration, the system of payment of customs payments affects the level of "convenience" and completeness of payment of various customs payments. In this paper, the analysis of the following indicators affecting the turnover of the Russian Federation is carried out: the place of customs payments from the general budget of the Russian Federation, the number of open personal accounts, the number of additional customs payments as a result of the conducted examinations. The analysis showed an increase in the efficiency of administration of customs payments and the level of "convenience" of customs payments.

In line with the trend of increasing state expenditure payments, the government uses a digital system to carry out cashless-based payments. The digital system provides advantages in the effectiveness of state expenditure payments to the payee and supports the efficiency of state financial management. One of the digital systems used is the Digital Payment application developed by the Directorate General of Treasury. This study aims to review the use of the Digital Payment application in making non-cash payments to payees (suppliers) in the 2019-2021 period. This study used a qualitative method with literature study techniques and interviews with several informants. The results of this study indicate that the use of Digital Payment in non-cash-based payments is quite effective. Even so, there are still obstacles to the mindset, system flexibility, and human resources so the application has not been implemented optimally. To improve quality, it is necessary to improve the DigiPay application and continuous outreach to MSMEs and work unit treasurers. Keywords: Payment system, Digital Payment, Public Spending, Treasury

Based on the research results, IndiHome payment transactions, both cash and non-cash, have their respective advantages and disadvantages. IndiHome payments in cash can be said to be effective because customers get payment receipts in detail, clearly and transparently. However, cash payments cannot be said to be efficient because it uses such a long process. One of them is that customers have to come and queue to pay monthly for IndiHome and this can take a long time, requires energy and money. In contrast to non- cash payments (digital). Non-effective payments have not been said to be effective because of frequent errors in making payments such as different bills, bills that do not appear, and excess payments. However, for the efficiency of digital payments, it is said to be quite efficient because the payment process is quite easy and fast. Digital payments can be made anywhere and anytime.

<em>The potential for zakat in Indonesia is increasing over time. However, the value of the increase in zakat receipts is not proportional to the potential of zakat. Research on zakat behavior using digital platforms is important considering the lack of realization of zakat collection compared to the existing potential. This study develops the UTAUT model by adding knowledge of zakat as a moderated variable. A quantitative approach is used in this research. The number of respondents in this study was 200 who were obtained through convenience sampling based on questionnaires distributed online. Data analysis was performed using partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions had a positive effect on behavioral intention to use digital zakat payment. Meanwhile, the moderating effect shows that knowledge of zakat moderates the relationship between performance expectancy and behavioral intention. These results have implications for the need to increase the effectiveness of digital zakat payments, have influencers who educate about zakat payments using digital, and increase the choice of zakat management institutions that accommodate digital payments so that the intention of muzakki to pay zakat using digital payments is increasing. The moderating effect implies that for muzakki who have higher knowledge of zakat, the level of trust and effectiveness of digital payments can increase the desire to pay zakat through digital payments.</em>

In the wake of growing interest around cryptocurrencies, the possible issuance by central banks of their own digital currency has been a topic of debate worldwide. However, little attention has been given to the relevancy of electronic and digital payments (including a possible digital euro) in the area of taxation, where policies limiting the use of cash are being intensively adopted all around the world. On one hand, tax policies fostering the use of electronic and digital payments as a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) can help tax authorities to better monitor taxpayers’ transactions in the fight against tax evasion and fraud. On the other hand, important concerns arise in the areas of data protection and the digital divide. These two kinds of concern should be taken into account and addressed by policymakers before the adoption of both a CBDC and tax policies favouring its use at the detriment of cash. CBDC – Digital Currencies – Cashless Payments – Electronic Payments – Tax Policy – Exchange of Information – Taxpayers’ rights – Data Protection – GDPR – Digital Divide

The increase in studies on how digital transformation based on the application of digital technologies affects the sustainable development of various sectors of the economy has been observed. Although digital transformation is important for the financial sector sustainable development, the drivers and links between them are weakly addressed by researchers. The study is aimed at exploring how digital transformation due to the application of innovative technologies and solutions, especially digital payments, is leading to the financial sector sustainable development through financial inclusion and operational efficiency. The current research presents the study of the financial sector digital transformation and its sustainable development based on a systematic literature review, a secondary data analysis, and expert interviews to provide further research directions and draw practical suggestions for professionals on the financial sector digital transformation toward sustainable development in the future. A systematic literature analysis is performed based on text analytics, a bibliometric analysis, and network maps aimed at acknowledging the existing research outcomes and identifying the research gaps on the digital transformation agenda in the financial sector. The collected data on the digital payments’ dynamic in the EU were analyzed with the use of statistical methods, including a correlation and regression analysis. Structured expert interviews were used to validate research findings and to highlight key issues of the digital transformation in the financial sector of Baltic countries. The authors have paid special attention to the sustainable development of the financial sector’s economic dimension and its efficiency indicators, such as financial inclusion and digital payments’ intensity. A social dimension is limited toward financial inclusion based on digital payments’ offering. The research results indicated recent trends in digital transformation and types of usage of digital technologies in the EU and Baltic countries to ensure the sustainable development of financial institutions. Furthermore, the results revealed a significant increase in the digital payments’ intensity during the last years in the EU, as well as a close relationship between digital payments with financial inclusion and operational efficiency of financial institutions.

Data processing with SmartPLS 3.0 shows the results show perceived benefit has a positive effect on non-cash payments (digital). The higher the perception of benefit, the higher the non-cash payment (digital). Perception of Ease has a positive effect on Non-Cash (Digital) Payments. The higher the perception of ease, the higher the non-cash payment (digital). And Perceptions of Benefit have a positive effect on User Attitudes. The higher the perceived usefulness, the higher the user's attitude. Then the Ease of Perception has a positive effect on User Attitudes. The higher the perception of Ease, the higher the User's Attitude. User Attitudes have a positive effect on Non-Cash (Digital) Payments. The higher the User Attitude, the higher the use of Digital Payments. The indirect effect is greater than the direct effect, so it can be said that the User Attitude variable is perceived as an intervening variable between the Perception of Benefit and Perception of Ease with the Non-Cash Payment (Digital) variable.

This article explores sociotechnical imaginaries of digital payments. Drawing on a decade of reports from industry consultants, the analysis of stories on digital payments identifies three sociotechnical imaginaries that shape the banking and payment industry: data monetization, the growth of digital payments, and the payment experience. The article argues that these imaginaries have contributed to the banking industry’s move toward becoming payment platforms, which restructure financial services based on a “re-personalization of money.” In effect, digital payments play a central part in the current economic transformation, led and promoted by global tech giants, that builds on the tracking, production, categorization, and classification of digital data. The article zooms in on recent and current expectations and imaginaries in the banking industry that, in the short run, shape economic decisions, while, in the long run, are set out to change how people interact, and how they are tracked, scored, and categorized.

Contemporary business continues to leverage the opportunities of internet connectivity for marketing, sales, and visibility. Digital payment plays an imperative role in online shopping transactions. With the evolution of online shopping, there has been a paradigm shift from traditional payment methods to a faster digital payment method. This paper assesses millennials’ perceptions of digital payments for online shopping. A cross-sectional study was undertaken using a quantitative method. Three hundred and ninety-three millennials completed a self-administered questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods were utilised to summarise and analyse the results. Respondents used different types of digital payments for online shopping, namely, credit card, debit card, micropayment, digital wallet, PayPal, Bitcoin, and in-app purchase. Some of the challenges pertaining to digital payment methods are security, privacy, and trust issues. There is a dire need to develop various interventions and strategies such as standardisation of the browser and device support to educate consumers, integrate more banks, develop synergy with credit card companies, reduce fees for low-risk transactions, make digital payment easier, and personalise the digital payment process and its value chain to make digital payments more secure and safe for effective transaction and online payments.

The impact of the pandemic has also affected the sustainability of traditional traders. One of the merchants’ efforts in overcoming the effect of COVID-19 is to make transactions with digital payments, both in-store purchases and through online media. This study is aimed at determining user resistance with the innovation resistance theory (IRT) approach based on two main approaches, namely, functional and psychological barriers. The unit of analysis in this study is a traditional clothing market trader who uses digital payments to process transactions. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach in Indonesia’s traditional clothing market through in-depth interviews of eight respondents. The results of this study prove that the clothing market sword uses digital payments when conducting transactions directly to consumers and for the needs of traders in supporting their business activities such as bill payments and purchases to suppliers. Most buyers complain about the risk barrier on the security and privacy factor, especially when they experience delays in information when processing transactions, causing more efforts to make complaints. The research contributes to the development of IRT theory, especially in the context of technology such as digital payments. The results of this study can also be helpful for service providers and the government in making strategies and policies that can protect users, especially buyers and sellers, in adopting digital payments.

Received 28.07.2020. The article examines issues related to the introduction of central bank digital currencies (CBDC) for retail payments and wholesale settlements. The study defines and classifies central bank digital currencies, researches the main models of CBDC systems. The article also analyzes the features of various national projects for issuing Central bank digital currencies. The paper uses methods of economic-statistical and functional-structural analysis. The study concludes that CBDC are a new form of central bank money. Digital currencies can be issued in various issuing systems for the purpose of retail payments or wholesale settlements. Among the models of CBDC systems for retail payments (R-CBDC) the direct system model is the most attractive for its simplicity. This model eliminates the dependence of the Central bank on any financial and payment intermediaries. Models of synthetic and hybrid R-CBDC systems are characterized by reliability and speed in processing multiple transactions which makes them the most promising for implementation. Among the models of CBDC systems for wholesale payments (W-CBDC) the model of the system with a universal digital currency (U-W-CBDC) may be the most suitable for eliminating the main disadvantages of modern cross-border payment systems. However, a large number of technological and financial changes as well as the high operating costs of the U-W-CBDC can make such systems difficult to implement for non-developed financial market infrastructure countries. National financial regulators have different motivations for issuing digital currencies. The main advantages of digital currencies for retail payments may consist in providing users with highly liquid, low-risk, universally available means of payment. The main advantages of wholesale digital currencies are that they offer faster, safer, cheaper cross-border payments. The most advanced projects for issuing R-CBDC can be considered DCEP (People’s Bank of China) E-krona (Central Bank of Sweden). The most successful pilot projects for issuing W-CBDC are the projects Jasper (Central Bank of Canada) and Ubin (Monetary Authority of Singapore), which were able to achieve interoperability in conducting cross-border payments. Currently most CBDC are retail based on the use of distributed ledger technology and implemented in the form of DLT-tokens. Countries that develop digital currency systems can be divided into three groups. The first group is countries where the introduction of CBDC can be designed to support the national demand for central bank money (Sweden, Norway, Singapore, etc.). The second group – countries for which the adoption of digital currencies can afford to keep the place of national currencies in international settlements (USA and EU) or expanding the use of national currencies at the international level (China). The third group represents countries for which the introduction of digital currencies may be associated with the control of national monetary circulation and de-dollarization of the financial system (Uruguay, South Africa, Cambodia, etc.).

In the context of the rapid growth of international cash flows under the influence of globalization and digitalization of the world economy, the disadvantages of the correspondent banking network for crossborder money transfers are becoming increasingly obvious. Cross-border payments continue to be largely based on the old correspondent banking model, which has not quite benefited from the flow of innovations. New technologies have the potential to facilitate fast, low-cost, transparent and scalable payments. There is a need to modernize international payment systems and to develop alternative payment instruments based on new financial technologies. Central banks and the payments industry are considering ways to improve cross-border systems. One of the most relevant and widely discussed new payment instruments is the central bank digital currency (CBDC). А consensus has been reached in the global community on the expediency and profitability of introducing this new form of fiat money into retail payments, and a large number of countries are implementing relevant projects. In contrast, the promotion of the CBDC in the field of wholesale payments is lagging behind. However, studies confirm viability of using the CBDC in wholesale cross-border payments. A number of central banks are working on wholesale cross-border payment models, and international cooperation among central banks on wholesale CBDC, including for cross-border payments, is intensifying. The article discusses how cross-border wholesale CBDC can address challenges of the existing correspondent banking arrangement. The main purpose is to analyze the results of the most advanced international projects aimed at creating cross-border payment systems based on CBDC and distributed ledger technology. The design features of the proposed payment models, their effectiveness and potential risks are considered.

Sales data, purchases and unexpected expenses at the Leppangeng Cell Counter are not well structured, so the data only serves as a store archive and cannot be used to develop marketing strategies. Therefore, it is necessary to apply data mining using K-Means at the Leppangeng Cell Counter. The K-Means method can be applied to the Leppangeng Cell Counter to determine sales of digital products that are selling well and not selling well. The application of the K-Means method at the Leppangeng Cell Counter is by grouping digital product stock data. Then select 3 random grub as initial centroid. After the data for each group does not change, the results of data processing are obtained in the form of 114 products that sell, 5 underperforming, and 14 not sold. Therefore, these systems are the most promising for implementation. Between the models of systems for wholesale payments (W-CBDC) systems with a universal digital currency are the most suitable for eliminating the main problems of cross-border payments. However, the implementation of such systems may require a large number of technological, managerial and financial changes in the payment systems of central banks. Currently, the most advanced project for issuing R-CBDC is the DCEP system of the People’s Bank of China, which is implemented on the basis of a hybrid model. W-CBDC projects are implemented jointly by the central banks of the leading countries, as they require financial and technological unification of settlements. Most projects of W-CBDC involve the use of systems with a convertible or universal digital currency.

<p><em>The payment system at Dayanu Ikhsanuddin University (Unidayan) is done manually by taking a payment slip at the financial counter, then making payments at the designated bank, such as payment of tuition fees, KKN, graduation, PBL, PPL, and final project or thesis. Payment methods like this make students often experience difficulties in making payments, causing discomfort and tend to delay payments. This study aims to apply the QR Code system in the digital payment process on campus. The research method used is the waterfall model. The method implements a sequential software life flow, starting from analysis, design, coding, and testing. This research produces a digital payment application on the Unidayan campus by implementing a QR Code system which can later make it easier for students to make payments by making a top-up and then scanning the QR code. thus it can help the finance department get data on students who have or have not paid tuition fees, namely SPP, KKN, Graduation, PBL, and Final Projects or Thesis.</em></p>

Streszczenie:
This study aims to analyze the readiness of MSMEs in using digital payments to support business sustainability in terms of the level of risks and benefits of using digital payments, the facilities they have, the ability to use digital payments and the needs of MSMEs for digital payments along with the development of current technology. The data analysis technique used was descriptive qualitative data analysis technique with the stages of data analysis, namely the data documentation stage, data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that in general the respondents, namely MSME business actors, strongly agree to use e-money in carrying out company operations. The use of e-m money is considered effective to support the company's operational activities. Apart from that, the use of e-money provides overall usefulness. The use of e-money is likely to pose risks to its users, both time and cost risks. In addition to the risks to be faced, respondents have the assumption that the use of e-money will also face losses. The losses are not proportional to the benefits to be received in the future. This is reinforced by previous research which stated that several factors that influence someone to adopt technology in the form of using electronic money are security and confidentiality, usability benefits, user convenience, fun, trust and risk. Meanwhile, the use of digital payments is considered capable of supporting business sustainability.
