Confession contributes to the effectiveness and motivation both students and teachers. It invites the students’ participation in determining the good technique for the best teacher. This research deals with students’ confession toward teacher technique in teaching based on gender. The objective of the research is try to elaborate how is the students’ confession on different gender, male and female in teaching. This research analyzed qualitatively where the subject takes from Senior High School 3 Palopo, 40 samples take which is confessing 10 male and 13 female teachers. After doing an interview, found that there are some confessions toward Gender teacher technique in teaching, they are both male and female get positive confessions, Male teachers get 36 confessions with good managing confessing (9) is the highest where correlated to the topic is a few or only 2 stdents confessed. Female teachers get 39 confessions with good managing confessing about 7 students assumed it and it is the highest. Furthermore, motivated confession only 2 confessing, and the last is female teachers get higher confession than male.

This article examines the question of the participation of students from Poland and Lithuania in the academic life in Basel from the fifteenth to the seventeenth centuries. Because the article is a prosopographic study, the group of surveyed students is presented in the context of their ethnicity, territorial and social origins, confession and field of studies. Two figures from Poland (Jan Osmólski and Marcin Chmielecki) most distinguished for intellectual contacts with Basel are also presented.

The researcher focuses on the communication processes between the mentor of an Old Believers community and the Old Believers during the general and personal confessions in the prayer house. The work is based on oral narratives recorded in the expeditions to the Old Believers of Latgale in 2016–2017. Among them there are stories about the order and time of general confession (penance), about the origin of a number of prohibitions and the peculiarities of observing the Old Believers’ prescriptions in a multinational and different confessional environment, about the connection with both the pagan ideas of the Slavs about the world around them, and with the realities of the present time.

This case involved a confession by the defendant to the claims asserted by the plaintiff in the first action. The plaintiff filed a new complaint and dismissed the old complaint through an exchangeable change of claim. The key point of the judgment in this case was that the defendant's confession was extinguished by the plaintiff's withdrawal of the complaint. While the main legal reasoning of this case is reasonable, there are a few more points to consider. First, the concept of revocation of a confession should be replaced with the concept of lapse of a confession. In this case, the confessing individual is not extinguishing his confession for reasons that would otherwise be attributable to himself. The confession was extinguished because of the exchangeable change of claim, which should be viewed as an effect of lapse of confession. Second, if the confessor relied on the confession as a defense in a lawsuit before the exchangeable change of claim, it does not extinguish the prior trial confession. This is because the act of procedure has already been formed based on the trial confession and it is necessary to ensure legal stability. It is also noted that the opposite party's consent to the exchangeable change of claim does not include consent to the revocation of the confession, unless there are special circumstances.

The modern social practice of confessional organizations in Russia is characterized by multifunctionality, here you can get various types of services: spiritual help, material, psychological, socio-pedagogical, labor, etc. The following processes are intensively taking place: 1) the formation of the activities of certain religious groups and organizations specializing in the performance of confessional social work; 2) legitimation of the system of norms and rules on which the territorial social practice of various confessions is based. In this article, the author analyzes the social teachings of traditional religions in Russia. The author examines the social program documents prepared by the traditional religions of Russia (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism) over the past few decades. This comparative analysis allows us to identify not only the specifics of the social doctrine of a particular confession, but also the general / special in the goal-setting and direction of social practice. The goals and motives of social service in confessions differ, and the main directions of social practice of helping the population also differ. However, there are no differences in understanding the role and place of a religious organization in contemporary Russian social service.

Miscarriages of justice are sometimes caused by confessions, which are coerced by the police or result from suspects' psychological vulnerabilities during custody and interrogation. In recent years there has been considerable research into police interviewing, psychological vulnerability, and false confessions. This paper summarises the salient British research and reviews briefly 23 high-profile murder cases where convictions based on confession evidence have been quashed on appeal between 1989 and 2002. In over half the cases the appellant's psychological vulnerability, rather than coercive or oppressive interviewing, rendered the confession unreliable. The review of the cases demonstrates that relevant psychological research and expert testimony in cases of disputed confessions have had profound influence on the practice and ruling of the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. The cases presented in this paper show that it is wrong to assume that only persons with learning disability or those who are mentally ill make unreliable or false confessions. Personality factors are often important in rendering a confession unreliable.

In recent years, DNA exoneration cases have shed light on the problem of false confessions and the wrongful convictions that result. Drawing on basic psychological principles and methods, an extensive body of research has focused on the psychology of confessions. This article describes the processes of interrogation by which police assess whether a suspect is lying or telling the truth and the techniques used to elicit confessions from those deemed deceptive. The problem of false confessions emphasizes personal and situational factors that put innocent people at risk in the interrogation room. Turning from the causes of false confessions to their consequences, research shows that confession evidence can bias juries, judges, lay witnesses, and forensic examiners. Finally, empirically based proposals for the reform of policy and practice include a call for the mandatory video recording of interrogations, blind testing in forensic crime labs, and use of confession experts in court.

Abstract In many judicial systems, confessions are a requirement for criminal conviction. Even if confessions are intrinsically convincing, this might not entirely explain why they play such a paramount role. In addition, it has been suggested that confessions owe their importance to their legitimizing role, explaining why they could be required even when other evidence has convinced a judge. But why would confessions be particularly suited to justify verdicts? One possibility is that they can be more easily transmitted from one individual to the next, and thus spread in the population without losing their convincingness. 360 English-speaking participants were asked to evaluate the convincingness of one of three justifications for a verdict, grounded either in a confession, eyewitnesses, or circumstantial evidence, and to pass on that justification to another participant, who performed the same task. Then, 240 English-speaking participants evaluated the convincingness of some of the justifications produced by the first group of participants. Compared to the other justifications, justifications based on confessions lost less of their convincingness in the transmission process (small to medium effect sizes). Modeling pointed to the most common forms the justifications would take as they are transmitted, and results showed that the most common variant of the justification based on a confession was more convincing (small to medium effect sizes).

Existential discourse in a literary text reflects the characters search for an experience of ontological meanings. Existential communication is characterized by the desire of communicants to define accurately the concepts and associatively represent experiences and emotions. Emotional accuracy in reasoning and defining concepts in the speech of the characters is achieved by the author’s skill in creating artistic images. The structure of existential discourse is characterized by the formulation of the question to which the characters must find the answer, based on their own or someone else’s life experience and knowledge, comparing this life situation with precedent phenomena, texts, events, referring to precedent names, building logical chains, proving or refuting statements. The purpose of this study is to analyze the speech genre of the everyday life confession in the existential discourse presented in A.P. Chekhov’s story “The Lights”. Confession is always an emotional shock, because the confessor experiences again the sense of guilt and shame for the evil he has done. The essence of confession is the reflection which results in selfcondemnation and remorse. The confessional tone of the character’s speech allows the author to create his image and generalize his personal experience, deducing philosophical maxims and aphorisms from it. The powerful emotional message of the confession leaves in the memory of the interlocutor the image of a specific suffering person and evokes sympathy. The everyday life confession here is a tactic of speech influence and at the same time an argument confirming the validity of the confessor’s philosophical maxims, since his very worldview has been suffered.

False confessions have only been successfully recognized and detected in recent years. However, the wide-scale recognition did not bring out a reduction in the frequency of false confession occurrences as no known policies were created in an attempt to eliminate them. Even more recently, morality-as-cooperation was theorized in an attempt to categorize morality into more measurable and graspable principles. Previous research focused on categorizing and understanding the surface causes of false confessions. Based on previous research, it can be concluded that the confession choices were made by the confessors themselves, raising questions about the evaluation process. This article attempts to understand the action of false confessions from a moral standpoint by applying the concept of false confessions to the morality-as-cooperation theory. Putting together this literature review, it’s indicated that almost all false confessions can be explained as the violation of morality-as-cooperation subprinciples including kinship, mutualism, reciprocity, division, and dovishness. The timely situation heavily influences individuals’ decision of whether or not to violate their morality to tell a costly lie.

La ricerca si concentra, successivamente, sull'analisi delle direttive dell'Unione europea contro la discriminazione, adottate nell’anno 2000 (dir. 2000/43 sulla discriminazione razziale e dir. 2000/78 sulla discriminazione nell’ambito del lavoro), che costituiscono strumenti innovativi per gestire l'integrazione e la pacifica convivenza dei diversi gruppi etnici e religiosi che compongono la società europea odierna. Il terzo ed il quarto capitolo esaminano il recepimento delle direttive comunitarie in Italia, in Francia e nel Regno Unito. La comparazione dei diversi approcci al problema della discriminazione razziale/religiosa in sede di attuazione delle direttive evidenzia i differenti orientamenti circa la modalità di risposta da parte degli ordinamenti interni ai problemi della società pluri-religiosa e alle politiche di integrazione e tutela delle minoranze. The object of the research is religious discrimination, from a juridical point of view. The first chapter gives an overview of the different interpretations of the concept of equality and non-discrimination in international and European law. In the second chapter the research focuses on the EC directives n. 2000/43 and 2000/78 on racial discrimination and discrimination in the field of employment, which are relevant instruments for promoting integration and equality among the different ethnic and religious groups living in Europe. The other two chapters examine the implementation of the directives in Italy, France and United Kingdom. In these countries there are different approaches to combating discrimination and to dealing with religious diversity and religious needs. For all of them, however, the implementation of antidiscrimination law implies to tackle the problem of finding a balance between the principle of equality and the protection of religious diversity.

The resource allocation and utilization discourse is dominated by debates about rights particularly individual property rights and ownership. This is due largely to the philosophic foundations provided by Hobbes and Locke and adopted by Bentham. In our community, though, resources come not merely with rights embedded but also obligations. The relevant laws and equitable principles which give shape to our shared rights and obligations with respect to resources take cognizance not merely of the title to the resource (the proprietary right) but the particular context in which the right is exercised. Moral philosophy regarding resource utilisation has from ancient times taken cognizance of obligations but with ascendance of modernity, the agenda of moral philosophy regarding resources, has been dominated, at least since John Locke, by a preoccupation with property rights; the ethical obligations associated with resource management have been largely ignored. The particular social context has also been ignored. Exploring this applied ethical terrain regarding resource utilisation, this thesis: (1) Revisits the justifications for modem property rights (and in that the exclusion of obligations); (2) Identifies major deficiencies in these justifications and reasons for this; (3) Traces the concept of stewardship as understood in classical Greek writing and in the New Testament, and considers its application in the Patristic period and by Medieval and reformist writers, before turning to investigate its influence on legal and equitable concepts through to the current day; 4) Discusses the nature of the stewardship obligation,maps it and offers a schematic for applying the Stewardship Paradigm to problems arising in daily life; and, (5) Discusses the way in which the Stewardship Paradigm may be applied by, and assists in resolving issues arising from within four dominant philosophic world views: (a) Rawls' social contract theory; (b) Utilitarianism as discussed by Peter Singer; (c) Christianity with particular focus on the theology of Douglas Hall; (d) Feminism particularly as expressed in the ethics of care of Carol Gilligan; and, offers some more general comments about stewardship in the context of an ethically plural community.

The core topics of this study were exploration for emptiness (sanskrit: savitathātā) meanings of the doctrine (sanskrit: dharma) about gagana-gabja bodhisattva in sutra field, combination practice and theory of great vehicle about rituals for repentance and confession. First, the theory for wisdom (sanskrit: prajñā) and non-abiding (sanskrit: aniketa) were summarized from 《maha-vaipulya-maha–sannipata -sutra‧gagana- gabja-sutra》and 《ākāśa-garbha-sutra》. The original meanings of repentance and confession were explored from sanskrit terms in related sutra field and many posthumous books of Yi-Jing(義淨) dharma-master. The practice and theory of great vehicle about rituals for repentance and confession from wide-spreading in Han (or Chinese) region were explained. The definition for confession of non-abiding was specified. The nature of crimes (sanskrit: adhyāpatti), both passive and active forces were non-abiding just like space. These features about confession of non-abiding were not held in common with other confessions. Next, the researcher contrasted and analyzed the practicing flows and relationships of various repentances including public repentance, repentance according to marks, and non-abiding repentance in gagana-gabja bodhisattva related sutra field. Finally, appearance of the true principle of non-abiding repentance was discussed and tried thinking the probability of application for ritual of non-abiding repentance. We hope that by providing practice of non-abiding repentance, as a result, in our morality, in spiritual practice, as well as in our behavior, all of them can be better and better.

The following report was written as a result of an internship in the central civil court of Lisbon, as part of the Masters in Forensic Law and Arbitration, carried out between September 2019 and February 2020. The internship consisted in accompanying the day to day work of a state judge, taking attendance to preliminary and final hearings, studying civil cases and debating relevant civil procedure theoretical questions. Some practical activities were carried out in the form of simulating sentences/verdicts and preparation of preliminary hearings (elaborating the written part of the hearing); lastly, the intervention of the judge during all the procedure was broadly simulated. The final verdict depends on the facts that were considered proved; the facts are in controversy when the parts first bring them to court; the judge must decide what corresponds to the truth and decide based on that judgment. The report has examples that go along with the theoretical explanation of legal concepts and is the product of a better understanding regarding evidence in Civil Procedure. This was made possible by the direct contact with the way evidence was considered by the judge The report is divided into two main groups.The first aims to explain essencial concepts in regard to evidence and the two systems of judging evidence in Civil Procedure, also aiming to demonstrate the current state of evidence law. In the second group the focus is shifted to specific types of evidence (by confession, documental, inadmissibility of witness deposition and ad substantiam documents), taking into account the law, authorities and case law on the subject. All is taken into account to formulate a critical evaluation and to ponder the conflict between material and formal truth
O presente relatório tem em vista apresentar o estágio curricular realizado no Juízo Central Cível de Lisboa, desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado Forense e Arbitragem. O estágio realizou-se entre setembro de 2019 e fevereiro de 2020 e consistiu em acompanhar o dia a dia de um Juiz de Direito assistindo a audiências prévias e finais, consultando processos e debatendo questões processuais, sobretudo. Foram realizados alguns trabalhos práticos, como projetos de sentenças e despachos, simulando-se a intervenção que o juiz tem no processo desde a preparação da audiência prévia até a decisão de mérito. Qualquer sentença de mérito pressupõe a decisão sobre factos que, no momento da sua alegação, são controvertidos; depois da produção de prova sobre eles, cabe ao juiz valorá-la; os factos provados, com base nos quais cabe decidir, são o resultado dessa valoração. O contacto constante com a produção e valoração de prova durante o estágio contribuiu para completar o relatório com exemplos práticos e permitiu uma melhor compreensão do direito probatório, da forma como é entendido pela doutrina e aplicado pelos Tribunais. O relatório divide-se em duas partes. Na primeira enunciam-se conceitos teóricos basilares sobre a prova e explicam-se os diferentes sistemas de valoração da prova, assim demonstrando em que termos é visto atualmente o direito probatório. Na segunda parte, focamos a nossa atenção na prova por confissão, prova documental, nos casos de inadmissibilidade da prova testemunhal e nos documentos ad substantiam. A abordagem a estes temas tem por base a lei, doutrina e jurisprudência sobre os mesmos, com que fundamentamos a nossa apreciação crítica global e, de forma mais abstrata, o confronto entre verdade material e formal.

This chapter describes the American Protestant reactions to the Catholic understanding of sacramental confession. That reaction is analyzed within the context of the heritage of the Protestant Reformation’s understandings of sin, repentance, and confession. The chapter demonstrates how the Protestant Episcopal Church in the late eighteenth century and American Lutherans in the early nineteenth century transformed the inherited Anglican and Lutheran traditions on the confession of sins to a priest or pastor. In the nineteenth century, sacramental confession became a central polemic issue, because for American Protestants that doctrine seemed to violate the Protestant understanding of justification by faith alone. The Protestant polemic was based on biblical, theological, legal, disciplinary, and historical issues. But, in some cases, the polemic made sensational charges on the immoral and evil political and social consequences of the practice of sacramental confession. Salacious accounts of confessional practice became a part of the polemical record.

Chapter 6 looks at the perseverance debate started by the avowed Arminian John Goodwin, who appealed to Augustine and the early church for a denial of the perseverance of the saints. The chapter focuses on the Reformed responses among Goodwin’s Puritan counterparts, like John Owen and George Kendall, and how they challenged Goodwin’s reading of Augustine and defended the importance of perseverance for confessing the Reformed faith. It also focuses on Richard Baxter’s alternate perspective, which affirmed the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints but questioned whether it should be a confessional issue based on his reading of Augustine and the witness of church history. This chapter reveals how competing readings of Augustine on perseverance persisted among Reformed Englishmen and also how these readings influenced the way Puritans developed and used confessions so as to handle concerns of catholicity.

ZusammenfassungThe paper explores the multi-stage process of translation that enabled German writer Johann Michael Moscherosch to refer to the perusal of Elizabeth Jocelyn’s conduct book The Mothers Legacy to her Vnborn Childe as one of the main factors in his decision to write his own devotional book, Insomnis Cura Parentum (1643). It is argued that Moscherosch himself did not translate The Mothers Legacy from the French, but rather read it in an already existing German translation based on a French version. In addition to tracing back the ways in which The Mothers Legacy, as a result of small changes in both translations, became more compatible with the Strasbourg-specific rendition of Lutheranism that largely shaped Moscherosch’s religious views and therefore his parenting, the paper aims to show how aspects of religious confession, regional politics, and the book trade were crucial in the reception of seventeeth-century devotional writing.

Abstract Against the backdrop of Calvin and Farel’s ouster from Geneva for over-asserting their disciplinary agenda in 1538, this chapter further probes their confessional convictions and practices by surveying and analyzing several early Reformed confessions of faith drafted prior to 1536: the Tetrapolitan Confession (1530); the First Confession of Basel (1534); and the First Helvetic Confession (1536). A survey and analysis of these confessional documents focuses on three related issues: (1) the definition and purpose of human traditions; (2) freedom of conscience pertaining to indifferent or permitted things, such as vows or oaths; and (3) the importance and meaning of the biblical “rule of love” for determining the nature of Christian duty. This study establishes a context for understanding how the Geneva Confession of Faith compares to its predecessors on these key related issues. It also helps to test the possibility that Calvin’s appeals for confessional uniformity in Geneva reflect the application of a third kind of rule or tradition—a tertium quid.

Through the second half of the 1520s, cities and territories began to institutionalize reforms to the Lord’s Supper. Luther’s German Mass was influential in central and northern Germany, while the communion liturgies of Zurich and Basel were important as sacramentarian models. Church ordinances also contained sections on the Lord’s Supper, with the most important being the Instruction to the Visitors of Saxony and Bugenhagen’s Braunschweig ordinance. The Bern Disputation of 1528 generated a number of publications by both sacramentarians and Catholics; so, too, did the events leading to Basel’s abolition of the mass. The leaders of both parties could not reach agreement on the Lord’s Supper at the Marburg Colloquy, but the articles adopted there marked the emergence of a new source of collective authority: a confession of faith that defined orthodoxy.

Abstract If high conviction rates are the pride of Japan’s procuracy, then confessions are its cornerstone. Indeed, many of the procuracy’s major achievements have been built on the foundation of confessions. As we have seen, justice implies “consistency,” and being consistenttreating like cases alike requires detailed knowledge of case facts. Frontline prosecutors “uncover and construct” those facts chiefly by seeking thorough confessions. Similarly, the procuracy’s stress on “correcting” offenders is based on the beliefs that remorse is a requisite step toward reform and that prosecutors can generate genuine repentance. The tie with convictions is equally tight. When suspects confess, prosecutors charge about two-thirds of the time. When suspects do not confess, prosecutors seldom charge. Only about one in fourteen defendants contest the charges against them. Thus, a confession is nearly a necessary condition for indictment, and the conservative charging policyto charge only winners, and to gauge the probability of prevailing by the quality of the confession is the primaryproximate cause of Japan’s high conviction rate.

Abstract The trials of soliciting confessors, unlike the more serious offenses that came under the jurisdiction of the Holy Office in which partial proofs were acceptable, required a minimum of two eyewitnesses. Of course, the very nature of confession made it impossible for these witnesses to testify to the same occurrence, but under inquisition law it was perfectly acceptable if they testified to two distinct occurrences of the same offense. This rule was strictly observed by the Suprema in spite of the eagerness of certain overzealous prosecutors and provincial inquisitors who frequently urged arrests based on the testimony of a single witness of exceptional character. In May 1696, the Mallorca tribunal received an interesting deposition from Father Jorge Fortuny, a Jesuit who had recently administered the viaticum to a young married woman in her home. Gravely ill and on the point of death, the woman, twenty-nine year-old Juana Anna Barbassa y Montagut, told Fortuny about her seven-year relationship with Sebastian Rigo, a Trinitarian who had formerly been her confessor. Since this relationship had included numerous instances of solicitation, it was obviously a matter for the Inquisition, and Father Fortuny refused to absolve the woman unless she made a deposition and allowed him to bring it to the tribunal. Experienced inquisitors and prosecuting attorneys were always happy to receive this kind of evidence because they knew that deathbed confessions were unusually reliable. Within ten days, the tribunal had Barbassa y Montagut interviewed, and armed with her detailed confession, prosecuting attorney Sebastian Ferragut wrote the Suprema requesting that Rigo be arrested and placed in the secret prison to await trial. The Suprema, however, refused this request, pointing out that the case could not commence without another witness.

Abstract This final chapter returns to the Ladder, but also takes in John Climacus’ other work, To the Shepherd. In these, John multiplies images for his spiritual director, favoring especially those of physician, judge, king, and shepherd. John uses these different images to explore both degrees of coercion in spiritual direction and different contexts for it. He is especially interested in expanding and nuancing the therapeutic hierarchy on display in church-order literature by means of a detailed analogy with a physician’s toolkit and expertise in dosimetry. The director learns to alternate harsher and gentler disciplines as well as to reserve more painful ones for more serious or persistent problems. These nuance John’s description of a monastery’s abbot as a king dispensing orders, while the regal imagery locates practices of confession and penance in a disciplinary organization. At other points, John describes private confessional encounters in medical terms, drawing especially on the manners of physicians and patients in intimate settings. For more public confessions, the same relationship is described through judicial imagery as John develops manners appropriate to that profession. Like Cassian and Basil, he deals with intransigent monks for whom he recommends amputation, in contrast to the “prison” he gleefully imagines in the Ladder’s Fifth Rung. Finally, John reconceives the monastic space as a clinic and its daily activities as a drama through which hidden realities come to light and the sick find healing.

Abstract In 1873, Friedrich Nietzsche, then twenty-nine and teaching philology at the University of Basel in Switzerland, began writing a series of Untimely Meditations on the current state of German culture. The first essay took as its target the theologian David Strauss, whose book, The Old Faith and the New: A Confession (1871), struck Nietzsche as the expression of all that was wrong with the so-called cultivated classes in German society. Published in the all-engulfing wake of German unification, The Old Faith and the New cham- pioned science as the new faith, rationally demonstrable in the evidence of historical progress. Nietzsche, long parted from the ‘old faith’ of his Lutheran forbearers, still regarded this glorification of the status quo as the embodiment of ‘philistine culture’ with its motto, ‘all seeking is at an end’. What provoked Nietzsche most in Strauss’s long and dull book was his impenetrable smugness. ‘During recent years’, declared Strauss, we ‘have participated in the liveliest way in the great national war and the construction of the German state, and we feel ourselves profoundly uplifted by this turn, as glorious as it was unexpected, in the history of our much-tried nation.’ He delighted in ‘our knowledge of nature’, the ‘writings of our great poets’, and ‘the performances of the works of our great composers’, and in all of this found ‘a stimulus for the spirit and the heart, for the imagination and the sense of humour, that leaves nothing to be desired’. ‘Thus we live’, he concluded, and ‘go our way rejoicing.

Background: One of the main characteristics of the Ukrainian religious field is conflict between two large Orthodox Churches – Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). These Churches embrace most part of orthodox population and it makes their conflict potentially dangerous for society. The Russian invasion February 24, 2022 makes many problems for UOC because it is considered to be part of state-depending Russian Orthodox Church. As a result, many believers turned their backs on this church, and the state changed its politics toward it rather harshly. But the extent of the changes in belonging to this church remains uncertain and requires assessment. Purpose: To assess the changes in mass self-identification with Ukrainian Orthodox Church in condition of Russia-Ukraine war. Methods: The analysis of statistical data of the moving of religious community in Ukrainian religious field and analysis of data of confessional identification in national representative public opinion polls. Results: Data of public opinion polls show that on the level of identification with the UOC a significant impact was made by large-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022 only. Only in the polls in 2022 there was a significant decrease in the corresponding figure. However, the level of such identification has remained stable even in the situations of the Russian aggression of 2014-2021. Conclusion: Data of public opinion polls show that the large-scale Russian invasion of 2022 has significantly influenced the adherence to and the orientation of the UOC. But at the same time, assessments of such changes, which are making on the confessional identification in these surveys, may be somewhat overstated, and they should be treated with great caution, especially if you base on them a politics in such dangerous area as religion. The UOC has been facing powerful challenges for many years. These challenges have dramatically increased since February 24, 2022, but even now this Church has shown considerable sustainability and the issue of halting of its functioning remains quite conflict-prone, while the benefits from its closing seem rather doubtful. The paper analyses the influence of religious factors on infant mortality in the Shadrinsky uyezd of the Perm governorate in the early 20th century. The Shadrinsky Uyezd was characterized by its relative natural, climatic and economic homogeneity and poorly developed social infrastructure for children. Based on ethno-religious and legal factors, the population of the uyezd was divided into Orthodox Russian former state peasants and Bashkir-Meshcheryak landowners/landless Muslims employed in agriculture. According to the research results, all other factors equal, Muslim religious precepts had a tremendous impact on the survival of children: the difference in infant mortality rates between confessional groups was more than 200 ‰.

The article highlights the chrono-spatial distribution of the evolution of some demographic peculiarities at the level of the districts of Fagara? for almost a millennium, starting from the XIth century, until today. Thus, first of all, the evolution of the population is highlighted, as a whole and on the component districts. Closely related to this is the evolution of density, both for the settlement's total and at the district level. Also, based on documentary sources � statistical-fiscal (urbaria, conscriptions), before 1850, censuses (from 1850-2011) � and other (yearbooks, phone books, electoral lists, etc.), we have reconstituted the ethnic, linguistic and confessional structure of the population, both on the whole locality and on the districts. We note, on the one hand, an inconsistent, slow evolution, with demographic setbacks, in the Middle Ages and a continuous increase, after 1800 and, especially, during the communist period, of the population and its density, followed by a decline, after 1989. Regarding the ethnolinguistic structure of the population, at the background of the continuous presence of an important share of the Romanians, until the interwar period, inclusive, important communities of Hungarians, Germans (Saxons) and Jews were formed and lasted for centuries, which declined during the communist period: the Hungarians stagnated or, at the background of a modest birth rate, decreased their number and share, the Germans emigrated en masse to Germany, and the Jews � to Israel. In confessional terms too, the most important community remained the Romanian Orthodox, but with the presence, notable, until a few decades ago, of the denominations of other communities (Catholic, Calvin, Unitarian � for Hungarians, Lutheran � for Saxons, Mosaic � for Jews).

The magazine “Chisinau Eparchial Vedomosti”, which was published for fifty years (1867– 1917), contains a lot of articles that deal with Lipovans / Old Believers. If the magazine contains rather rich and varied information about such carriers of traditional culture in Bessarabia as Bulgarians, Gagauz, etc. (including customs, traditions, peculiarities of life and everyday life, national character, etc.), then the Lipovans are in a special position. Based on the profile of this magazine and the struggle of the clergy for the purity of the official Orthodox religion, they primarily provide information related to confessional aspects. So, the so-called anti-sectarian missionary activity is covered. Although, according to the authors of the publications, the religiosity of the Old Believers is based on assigning the main importance to the rituals, they could not fail to note the deep commitment of the Old Believers to public worship. Despite the general negative official attitude towards representatives of the Lipovans, some articles also reveal their positive aspects: they talk about teaching children literacy in home schools, about charity, help in the community (the socalled “secret alms”), about preventing them from begging in their environment etc.

В статье на основе большого по объему архивного материала автор показывает, как происходило взаимодействие культур великорусского и белорусского этноса в Смоленской губернии во второй половине XIX в. Основами на которой оно развивалось были господство православной веры на данной территории и общность языковых корней. По сути, здесь происходил процесс сближения великорусского и белорусского элементов в рамках формирования русского этноса. In the article, based on a large amount of archival material, the author shows how the cultures of the Great Russian and Belarusian ethnic groups interacted in the Smolensk province in the second half of the 19th century. The foundations on which it developed were the dominance of the Orthodox faith in a given territory and the commonality of linguistic roots. In fact, there was a process of convergence of the Great Russian and Belarusian elements within the framework of the formation of the Russian ethnos.

In 1918, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes included various peoples and numerous churches and religious communities. The largest number of inhabitants of the new state belonged to the Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Muslim religions. The founder of the Constitution had the obligation to regulate the right to freedom of religion by the Constitution and to ensure equality between the existing churches and religious communities. The founder of the Constitution decided to reject the earlier constitutional model of the state religion from the Kingdom of Serbia and the Kingdom of Montenegro and to standardize the constitutional model of adopted or recognized religions. The political basis for the new constitutional solution was found in point 7 of the Corfu Declaration, which stated that ”all recognized religions will be exercised freely and publicly. The Orthodox, Roman Catholic and Mohammedan religions, which are the strongest in our nation in terms of the number of followers, will be equal and equal to the state. Based on these principles, the legislator will take care to preserve and maintain confessional peace, which corresponds to the spirit and past of our entire nation”. The paper analyzes the norms of the Vidovdan Constitution on freedom of religion.

На материале оригинальных источни-ков автор показывает активное участие богатых горожан в покупке бывших монастырских и цер-ковных земель, переориентацию купечества с рынка в Антверпене на рынки Гамбурга и Данцига, заинтересованность предприимчивых горожан в светском образовании, нашедшую отражение в основании ими бесплатных грамматических школ. Вместе с тем отмечается, что среди части го-рожан сохранялась приверженность католичеству: неприятие реформационного вероучения и но-вой обрядности, политики королевской власти в отношении церкви. The article examines the influence of the Reformation on the economic life and socio-cultural views of Londonʼs citizens, reveals various confessional preferences and the ambiguous attitude of mer-chants and artisans to the ecclesiastical policy of the English monarchs, especially to the secularization of monastic properties. Basing on the material of the original sources the author shows the active participa-tion of rich citizens in the purchase of former monastery and church lands, the merchantsʼ reorientation from the market in Antwerp to the markets of Hamburg and Danzig, the interest of enterprising citizens in secular education that is reflected in the foundation of free grammar schools. At the same time it is noted that among some of the citizens remained committed to Catholicism: rejection of the Reformation doctrine and the new rite, the policy of the royal government in relation to the Church.

The subject research of labour is based on the analysis of freedom of religion and religious discrimination. Faith in its essence generates tolerance, but at the same time it is the cause of many historical misunderstandings. Today, there is almost no nation that is not characterized by religious pluralism. The multi- confessional nature of society is a factor that constantly (re)actualizes the question of models of relations between religious communities and the state. In relation to the aforementioned relationship, significant problems arise that significantly affect the realization of freedom of religion and open the way to religious discrimination. The protection of this freedom represents a very sensitive field both internationally and domestically. The highlighted issue poses a serious challenge to the state authorities, that while actively protecting religious rights and freedoms, they do not call into question the constitutional principles of equality and the secular state. In the paper, the authors analyze the normative framework for the protection of freedom of religion and the problems of religious discrimination. We pay special attention to the issue of restrictions on treated freedom in favor of the stability and security of society. A thorough analysis resulted in the pointing out of relevant flaws as well as the proposal of significant solutions in the field of development of religious tolerance.

В этой статье рассматриваются ключевые аспекты, оказывающие непосредственное влияние на формирование многополярного полицентричного миропорядка. Автор уделяет особое внимание роли Российской Федерации в процессе построения новой системы международных отношений, основанных на равенстве всех субъектов вне зависимости от их культурной, расовой, конфессиональной и цивилизационной принадлежности. Также в работе рассмотрены некоторые шаги, посредством реализации которых достижение многополярного мира представляется как поступательный и осознанный процесс. В свою очередь, конструктистский подход к изучению многополярности как внешнеполитическим дискурсу и проект ряда государств. в первую очередь России. Приведенные в работе суждения позволяют взглянуть на многополярность с разных сторон, приблизиться к комплексному и объективному пониманию данного многогранного феномена. И наконец, цивилизационный подход, описанный в статье, фокусируется на определении цивилизаций в качестве новых акторов и центров силы на мировой арене. This article examines the key aspects that have a direct impact on the formation of a multipolar polycentric world order. The author pays special attention to the role of the Russian Federation in the process of building a new system of international relations based on the equality of all subjects, regardless of their cultural, racial, confessional and civilizational affiliation. The paper also discusses some steps through which the achievement of a multipolar world is presented as a progressive and conscious process. In turn, the constructionist approach to the study of multipolarity as a foreign policy discourse and the project of a number of states. first of all, Russia. The judgments given in the work allow us to look at multipolarity from different angles, to approach a comprehensive and objective understanding of this multifaceted phenomenon. Finally, the civilizational approach described in the article focuses on defining civilizations as new actors and centers of power on the world stage.
