Streszczenie:
The origins and content of the methodology of scientific research programs of I. Lakatos are considered taking into account the problems and tasks of the history of sociology. The reception of the methodology of research programs in sociology can be explained by the relevance of the analytical model of the structure and dynamics of the research program in the analysis of sociological knowledge. Within the framework of sociological knowledge, metatheoretical, theoretical and empirical structural levels are analytically distinguished. Certain structural analogies are observed: between the “hard core” and “negative heuristics” of the research program, on the one hand, and metatheory, on the other; between the “protective belt” and the “positive heuristic” of the research program, on the one hand, and theory, on the other; between the empirical content of the research program, on the one hand, and the empirical basis of sociology, on the other. One can observe a number of analogies in the dynamics of functional connections between the structural components of the research program, on the one hand, and the dynamics of functional connections between metatheorizing, theorizing, and empirical analysis in sociology, on the other.

Streszczenie:
The purpose of the study is to consider the advantages and disadvantages of pollster and sociological approaches to electoral research. The article shows that conducting electoral research in modern election campaigns is carried out equally by pollster (for purely political purposes) and sociological (for scientific and sociological purposes) technologies. It has been proven that optimal results can be achieved by combining pollster and sociological approaches to electoral research. It was determined that today the organization of an effective election campaign requires equally sociologists-pollsters and sociologists-analysts, the result of whose work is respectively collected empirical data and an analytical product, scientific expertise. It has been demonstrated that pollster and sociological approaches to conducting electoral research differ not only in the concepts of public opinion and the styles of its research, but also in the subject field. The electorate as a subject of electoral research acquires different content for different approaches. The pollster approach is more likely to understand the electorate as a circle of voters who vote for one or another party or candidate for an elected position and, in fact, are supporters of a certain political force or personality, while representatives of the sociological approach mostly consider the electorate as a collection of all citizens who vested with the right to vote and who exercise or do not exercise it under specially created conditions. It is argued that the integration of the subject fields of electoral polling and electoral sociological research will allow more effective and productive use of analytical potential in the election campaign, since such an organization of patronage work will help not only to record the results of electoral research, but also to predict the trends of electoral choice, the flow of votes, the reactions of electoral groups to specific political events. The availability of systematic ideas about the types of voters and their personal profiles will help to meaningfully approach the understanding of the electorate.

The article is an attempt to trace in Wiesław Lang’s scientific research the influence of sociological jurisprudence, as initiated in Polish legal science by Leon Petrażycki: the original source of Lang’s scientific inspiration. Not only significant traces of sociological research concepts but also the broader perception of the notion of law typical for this trend in jurisprudence can be seen in W. Lang’s work; these are most visibly evidenced in his works devoted to those aspects of American legal culture that are doctrinally and judicially dominated by the analysis of ‘law in action’, not merely ‘law in books’.

The review raises the traditional social science problem of sociological science, which consists in the impossibility of a smooth transition from empirical knowledge to theoretical knowledge. To solve this problem, a project of sociological science, which would rely on systems theory as its theoretical and methodological framework, is suggested. It is substantiated that such a theoretical and methodological basis will allow sociological research to bridge the gap between empirical and theoretical sociology and thereby embed sociological science together with natural sciences into a single system of sciences.

The research methodology used in this article is a literature review of published articles. The use of sociological theory as an analytical tool to explain contemporary accounting phenomena and practices is very relevant because accounting is part of the social sciences. To maintain the integrity of accounting research with a sociological theoretical approach, it is necessary to establish strict boundaries to ensure that accounting research remains focused on accounting principles and does not deviate from its main objectives. In this article, several problems of Analytical Sociology (AS) – a new school of sociological thought – are discussed. A first contention of this article is that the critique of the covering-law model (i.e. the Hempel–Oppenheim scheme) submitted by proponents of AS is problematic. The rejection of rational choice theory in AS is criticized as well. It is argued that the alleged alternative general theory applied by proponents of AS, namely DBO theory (claiming that Desires, Beliefs and Opportunities determine behavior), is equivalent to a wide version of rational choice theory. Furthermore, the focus on theories of the middle range in AS and the neglect of general theories is considered problematic. Finally, it is argued that the goals of AS can better be achieved if it is supplemented by a research program of empirical theory comparison.

Then the data were analyzed through a qualitative normative method without using numbers and mathematical formulas. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the dichotomy of the scientific paradigm of legal science has actually resulted in a lack of agreement among legal scientists regarding the legal research model that will be developed to answer various legal issues that arise in the life of the legal community. In short, the aim here is to provide students of both the museum and architecture with a route into the field - as well as a preliminary bibliography - while making the case for the need for increased engagement with the physical material of museums. Drawing on the widened scope of analytical possibilities represented by contemporary sociological analyses of architecture and the built environment, the paper sets forward an understanding of museum architecture as having a complex and entangled relationship with the museum institution and the variety of users of such (both actual and potential). Developing a threefold typology with the polemic intention to encourage increased research engagement with museums’ architectural forms, the paper is motivated by a desire to both showcase and advocate for the wide scope of analytical possibilities associated with sociological analyses of museum architecture.Key words: sociology; museums; architecture; design; material culture.

Background. Recent years have seen the demand for organic products steadily growing both in the domestic and foreign markets. This makes it relevant and important to identify specific factors that will affect consumer behavior in the future, using the example of the local market. The purpose of the study is to determine the factors for promoting environmentally friendly products and to identify consumer demand patterns through social research tools. The article deals with research of market capacity for organic products based on an analysis of consumer behavior across the Republic of Kazakhstan, with sociological survey serving as a basis. Purpose. The purpose of the study was to gauge the capacity of the consumer market for organic products in Kazakhstan. In order to identify the factors driving consumer behavior, sociological studies were done based on a survey of Internet users focused on the consumption of organic food, as well as polling of customers of specialized stores of organic products in Astana. Methodology. The study utilized general scientific methods of cognition of socio-economic phenomena and processes: logical and analytical methods, classification, systemic and holistic approaches, ways of synthesis and comparative analysis, sociological survey and polling. Results. The sociological surveys made it possible to identify what consumers of organic products looked like and to generate proposals on how producers should further develop organic farming. Conclusions. Primary cities of organic products consumption in Kazakhstan are Almaty and Astana. The main reasons for this pattern are local population’s high purchasing power, high population density and quite high environmental pollution. Residents of urban areas are more aware of the rapidly developing segment of the food market. Yet, until now, consumers have failed to distinguish pseudo-labels from certified products. The legislators have taken a number of steps to legally interpret and regulate the organic market. Market research has confirmed the need to promote awareness among producers and shape consumer behavior.

Electronic documents, such as contracts, court decisions, financial reports, etc., can contain valuable information about social factors that affect the security of financial and legal relations. Analysis of these documents helps to identify the interrelationships between public trust, power, technology, and other social phenomena in the context of their impact on the security of individuals and society as a whole. The purpose of the article is to determine the possibilities of using electronic documents as resources for sociological research to assess the level of security of financial and legal relations. The study uses historical and logical methods to highlight the current state of affairs in the field of digital data analytics, and the methods of comparison and generalization form the basis for classifying risk indicators available in the texts of electronic documents. It is indicated that in the context of the spread of digital interaction between people, understanding the sociological aspects of their behaviour reflected in electronic documents becomes key to assessing the risks of illegal financial transactions. The article substantiates the important role of electronic documents as a valuable resource for sociological research. The study is based on an interdisciplinary approach, highlighting the possibilities of integrating sociological analysis, network research, linguistic pattern recognition and data mining methods to obtain meaningful information from large amounts of electronic documents. The main results of the study include the classification of indicators of illicit financial transaction behaviour present in the texts of electronic documents. The study highlights the practical value of using electronic documents in sociological research, offering practical guidance for government officials, lawyers, and analysts to improve risk assessment and develop security measures. The materials systematized in this study demonstrate the potential of open-source intelligence (OSINT) and advanced data analytics to build meaningful sociological models using electronic documents, highlighting their importance in addressing contemporary security analytical challenges

A sociological narrative is a human’s storytelling in which another human is not always able to trace semantic connections in a relevant way. Such uncertainty has a detrimental effect in key cases of verbal description of social processes such as theory building, drafting laws and maintaining of document flow. Based on research in the areas of qualitative data analysis and knowledge management, the article expresses the conviction that a significant reason for the semantic uncertainty of the narrative is its construction by the author in the form of a text flow. The necessity and possibility of a natural language description of social processes in the form of a structural narrative is substantiated. Analytical coding is proposed as a tool for constructing such a narrative. In contrast to the approaches used today, analytical coding allows the researcher in a single instrumental procedure, on the one hand, to adhere to the habitual practice of verbal description of something; on the other hand, to structure their natural language wordings with the help of ontological methods of knowledge management. Specific analytical coding techniques are considered in detail within methodological cases in which a researcher finds him/herself when deciding to construct a narrative using analytical methods. Among such cases, the initial epistemological attitudes of the author of the narrative; localization of the meaning of a verbal statement by indicating the context; linking contextsensitive wordings; construction and generation of narrative semantic chains; instrumental control of narrative connectivity are mentioned. In conclusion, it is noted that the improvement of methods for constructing a structural narrative allows us reckoning on solving the problems of decomposition of verbal knowledge about social processes and on creating opportunities for interdisciplinary teamwork of specialists with different competencies

Therefore, they compared his standpoint with those developed one generation earlier (Znaniecki), those of his contemporaries (Good and Hatt), as well as with the work of present-day authors (Bryman). Special attention was paid to the importance of Milic?s study of the history of methodological thought and epistemology regarding the emergence of his ideas on data collecting methodology and procedures relevant for the analysis of causality. Secondly, along with this historical and scientific study, and guided by Merton?s critics of adumbrations, authors undertook a systematic examination of relationships between various research and analytical procedures within sociology: primary (original) experience, observation, sequential analysis, grounded theory, comparative method and multiple-case study.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the ontological status of the caliphate as a sociological experimentation. The study was a library research which adopted a descriptive analytical method through reading various literatures with a philosophical historical approach. The data were obtained from a variety of credible literature and other various supporting information then presented with a strong analytical instrument based on the normative foundation and thoughts of the figures to generate a deeper elaboration of ideas. The result showed that the relationship between religion and the state was a matter of pure contact with public reason. The absence of religious sharih texts in state matters, including models and singular forms of state practice, is an indisputable reason for the profanity of the Khilafah. The state practices exemplified by the Prophet and Companions were nothing more than sociological experiments. The experiment of the Prophet and purely sociological relative is not a theological necessity. The state is in principle an institution designed to realize benefit as the highest moral principle and locus of the view of the universal will. As an alternative to the caliphate model which is outdated and impossible to revive, a democratic state is a realistic choice because it is in accordance with the development of modern life and is an effort to approach universal human values

The article describes the methodological features of conducting sociological and anthropological qualitative field research in rural areas, in particular, it covers ways of fixing data for its conservation and further analytical work. The limitations imposed on the researcher by the field also affect the nature of the data collected during interviews and observations, which forces them to adhere to certain methods of systematization in order to prepare for further analysis. The article presents the methods of organizing field notes, highlights the stages of field records — fixation, primary systematization, organization of a field diary — when collecting qualitative data on sensitive topics for the preservation of the material and its future processing.

Ethical behaviour in sociological research is a basic principle of obtaining high ̶quality results from such activities; this issue is especially relevant for ethnographic research, where the problems of observance of human rights, in particular, freedom of speech and protection of personal data, are key factors in the fight against the continuous “technologization” of modern society and the devaluation of integrity. The study aims to develop recommendations for the correct behaviour of all participants involved in collaborative ethnographic research in Europe by considering the basic principles and aspects of interaction in this field of sociological research. The main methods used include comparative and historical, which helped to identify the key features and trends in the development of ethnographic research in the time dimension; systematic and analytical, which helped to identify the basic principles of ethical behaviour in the process of scientific research. The concepts of research in the field of ethnography and the ethical component in the process of such research are explained, and the ambiguity of generally accepted definitions is emphasised. The essence, content and characteristic features of ethnographic research and the principles of ethical behaviour in it are defined; the key problems and controversial issues of this field of research are emphasised. The historical development of this field of scientific activity in the context of fieldwork in the European region is considered, and several important examples of ethnographic research in the past are described. Based on the studied positive and negative international experience and on the analysis of the results of scientific research of several expeditions, general recommendations for the ethical component of ethnographic research are presented. The results and conclusions of the work can be used for further activities on this topic, in particular, in the context of providing practical recommendations for organising and conducting sociological research in the fields of ethnography, anthropology, etc. in different regions of the world

The emerging narrative of law as a social phenomenon—as opposed to a legal phenomenon— presents pressing questions about what it means to take a sociological approach to law, why the discipline needs retelling from a sociological vantage point, and how this relatively new narrative can be told. I consider these “baseline” questions of socio-legal studies through a careful dissection of Roger Cotterrell’s assertion that a sociological understanding of legal ideas “consistently and permanently addresses the need to reinterpret law systematically and empirically as a social phenomenon.” By deconstructing Cotterrell’s statement, I will explain how a sociological approach provides a vital analytical lens through which to appreciate not only how law works (succeeds or fails) in different social contexts but also how law acts as a social phenomenon. Drawing upon historical and contemporary research examples, I argue that law must be studied as if on a sociological “stage” upon which different actors perform and experience social “acts” within the “theater” of the legal discipline. I will explain why a sociological approach to law is vital for understanding how each “act”—each social phenomenon of law—plays out in the context of other phenomena, including globalization, transitional justice, and the evolution of socio-legal scholarship itself.

During the last century, sociological functionalism has been a sociological dominant interpretation. This trend has also developed within anthropology, biology, and the social sciences in general. Since the first evolutionary considerations, social interaction has been commonly interpreted from functional premises. In this way, racism as a social aversion has been seen as a consequence of the natural functioning of human societies. The present study contrasts the functionalist vision with the social conflict approach to evaluate each theoretical procedure. The research conclusions suggest that social conflict is capable of offering successful results on the nature of contemporary racism. However, there is currently a lack of research on the appropriateness of each of the approaches. The present work suggests to continue research of each orientation and particularly the use of social conflict as an analytical orientation.

Such paradigms shaped “sociological imaginations” and analytical lenses through which scholars generated important questions and developed their research interests and projects. The study of post-communism was influenced by three such paradigms: the first focused on the immediate communist past as the main constraint on post-1989 transformations; the second attempted to transcend the specificities of post-communism and integrate the study of the region with the general comparative politics enterprise; and finally, the third signified the return to a disciplined exploration of historical and cultural contexts and their role in shaping the outcomes of transformations.

National agrarian development from the Old Order to the New Order experienced a complicated level of problems. This study wants to know and trace national agrarian developments from the perspective of post-reform law and sociology in Indonesia. This research is a socio-legal research that is descriptive and analytical. This research shows that in the legal perspective of the agrarian sector after the reform there are still many inequalities between one regulation and another, the protection of rights in these regulations itself is bulldozed by various regulations, policies, and programs created by the government. Meanwhile, from the sociological perspective, agrarian conflicts are still rife after this reform. Conflicts caused by policies or decisions of public officials (central and regional), involve many victims and cause widespread impacts, which include social, economic, and political dimensions.

This article introduces research questions, theoretical premises and analytical tools on which the Modern Muslim Subjectivities Project (MMSP) builds. The project takes its point of departure in sociological theories on the formation of modern forms of subjectivity and applies these to the Muslim world. The present article discusses three theories in particular: Theories on multiple modernities, theories on successive modernities and post-structuralist approaches to the formation of modern subjectivities. The hypothesis of the project – and thereby the hypothesis of the present article – is that the mentioned so-called “Western” theories can be used in our analyses and understanding of the modern Muslim world as well. The article presents this argument in three steps and illustrates the theoretical discussions with examples from the different subprojects carried out within the shared frame of the MMSP.Denne artikel præsenterer de forskningsspørgsmål, teoretiske præmisser og analytiske redskaber, som The Modern Muslim Subjectivities Project (MMSP) bygger på.

Background: Psychiatric nurses are vulnerable to the menace of negative emotions due to the nature of their work and the closed environment in which they work. In this study, we aimed to investigate the incidence and influencing factors of depression among psychiatric nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional survey method was adopted to investigate 64 nurses working in the psychiatric department of a hospital from June 2022 to June 2023. The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire was administered to all included respondents, who were divided into depressed group (>4 points) and non-depressed group (≤4 points) according to the BDI scores. General sociological and disease-related characteristics of these two groups were measured, and items with significant differences were analyzed by logistic regression to derive factors that have an impact on the occurrence of depression among psychiatric nurses. Results: Twelve psychiatric nurses in the surveyed hospital exhibited signs of depressive symptoms, with a rate of 18.75%. The univariate analysis unveiled differences between the depressed group and the non-depressed group in terms of daily sleep time, weekly working hours, professional title, working pressure, physical exercise, length of service, and physical condition. Further analysis through logistic regression revealed that daily sleep time, weekly working hours, and physical condition were factors affecting the occurrence of depression among psychiatric nurses. Conclusion: The vulnerability of psychiatric nurses to depression, which are potentially influenced by daily sleep hours, weekly working hours, and physical condition, deserves clinical attention so that countermeasures can be developed for early intervention.

Dansk sociologisk forskning har en bemærkelsesværdig historie. I denne artikel undersøger jeg i et feltanalytisk perspektiv sammenhængen mellem feltet for dansk sociologisk forsknings nuværende struktur og dets historie. Artiklen har to empiriske dele. ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Kristoffer Kropp: Re-Establishment of Danish Sociological Research – A Sketch of Structures and Genesis of Danish Sociological Research after 1990 Sociology in Denmark has a peculiar history. In this article I investigate the relationships between the fields of Danish sociological research’s contemporary structures and it genesis by employing a field analytical perspective. The article has two empirical parts. In the first part I present three important principles of differentiation in contemporary Danish sociology by employing ”multiple correspondence analyses”. The first principle is the amount of academic capital and the second is orientation of research towards either an academic audience or towards non-academic audiences. The third principle concerns the difference between sociological insiders and sociological newcomers. Then I show how those in this three folded structure are homologues, structured in accordance with position-taking towards means and ends for sociological research, use of empirical materials and choice of subjects. In the second part of the article I connect the contemporary structure of the field with the recent history of Danish sociologies. I show how sociological research followed two strategies in establishing sociological research during the 1990s and the 2000s by analysing the structural history of four important sociological institutions. The two strategies were an orientation towards non-academic interest and institutions and attempts to re-establish sociology’s position as an academic field. Key words: Danish sociology, multiple correspondence analysis, Bourdieu, field analysis, history of sociology.

Critical evaluation of the field has uncovered three areas of analytical tension that impede its consolidation: disciplinary boundary-setting (sociology, sociology and anthropology of the emotions, philosophy), analytical perspectives (sociological, sociocultural, philosophical), and the object of research (emotions, emotions and the body, the body and emotions), all of which have implications for social research.

The article clarifies how sociological research methodology is adjusting to the current changes taking place in Ukrainian society. The goal is to specify some aspects of phenomena research, and to concentrate on field research from historiography, theoretical background, and to certain procedures of gathering information and its analysis. Based on the works of famous German qualitative methodology experts we also referred to M. Heidegger’s works to be more specific about “phenomenon” definition. We have proved that phenomena are some things and processes not fully appeared which we can discover, and which in scientific discourse must be distinguished from appearance. The word “appearance” tells for itself — it is that which has already appeared. Some definitions on field research taken from the works of German sociologists allowed reconfirmation of this methodology to be used in researches of the current Ukrainian social reality. Such components of field research as “observation” and “conversation” were given the following new characteristics: systematized role behavior of a researcher-observer, and authorial vision of structuring data and observation results. The analytical processing of sociological data was held in the frame of grounded theory (by Anselm Strauss and Judith Corbin), and the method of qualitative content-analysis of conversations was tested and endorsed through the example of research among rural population. Drawing on the results of three types of coding (open, axial, and selective) we have built up a mini-theory of the phenomenon of how population in small towns and villages in Odessa region take representatives of local authorities in everyday life. In comparison with operational definition the analysis result based on the strategy of mini-theory consists of five parts where we start out from the “history line”, then we find out how the past influences the contemporary state of a researched phenomenon, describe context, subjects’ actions and counteractions, and determine the consequences.

The author substantiates conceptual and methodological principles based on a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical and scientific status of sociological archetypology within the system of modern socio-humanitarian knowledge. These principles are represented in the conceptual system comprising the following central provisions: general orientation of scientific research in the area of sociological archetypology on society as a collective subject, whose vital activity at the implicit level of the collective unconscious is primarily determined by archetypes; the dialectic character of transformations within conceptual and methodological foundations of sociological archetypology through the integration of new components, among which the most significant innovative potential is displayed by the concept of G. Durand involving the need to update the traditional methodology (in particular, through substantiation of methodological psychology and the method of convergence) and introduce into the research discourse additional archetypal symbols (theriomorphic, nyctomorphic, catamorphic, diaeretic, inversion, light-visual and cyclic symbols); methodological parity of ontological and epistemological functions of archetypes; and methodological revision of key concepts and ideas of sociological archetypology from the standpoint of contemporary postmodern sociology, characterized by the actualization of research interest in traditional culture at a new theoretical level (M. Maffesoli). The paper explains theoretical and interpretive trends of modern sociological archetypes, among which the leading ones are the following: polysemy of “archetype” as a concept and debatable interpretation of its definition markers; broad functionality of the concept “archetype”, which represents the trend of research interest actualization in traditional culture; intensification of the national researchers’ interest in deep archetypal foundations of the Ukrainian culture and mentality and in sociological analysis of modernity, mainly to diagnose transformational changes in Ukrainian consciousness and study the psycho-social foundations of contemporary postmodern civilizational identity, which reflects the theoretical continuity of traditional and postmodern interpretation of the essence of the archetype, starting with the Jungian conceptual paradigm; the promotion in the scientific publications of an analytical approach based on the understanding the archetype as the name of a particular type of personality in personology.

At the present stage of world development of institutional research in politics, it is no longer enough to turn to the formalized aspects of the essence of political institutions, which is still a fairly common approach - in contrast to the general theory of the new institutionalism. Also, there is a widespread view that the latest models of research strategies can be offered only by foreign political science and it is among its developments that the necessary analytical tools should be sought. Due to certain historical aspects of the political development of our country, political science research has not been able to develop synchronously with global trends for a long time, but it is possible to assume that today this situation is gradually changing. Therefore, the purpose of our study was to concretize in domestic political science the analytical field of such research areas of the new institutionalism as sociological institutionalism and systematize the main parameters of its research strategy. As a result of the study, it was found that the provisions of sociological institutionalism of political science are based on more normative-formalized approaches compared to other types of institutionalism because its formation was significantly influenced by the theory of organizations. Most Ukrainian scholars use the methodological tools of this area of institutionalism for a comprehensive analysis of the nature of the political institution as a research unit, which is close in its characteristics to the latest world examples and requires an appropriate research methodology. The group of specific issues considered by domestic scholars on the basis of the provisions of sociological institutionalism is opened by the normative aspects of the functioning of international politics (for example, humanization), which in this dimension is in the center of attention of foreign scholars as well. A more interesting area of research is the peculiarities of the process of European integration, the analysis of which also begins in the works of foreign scholars, but we are interested in this question given Ukraine's European ambitions - whether its regulatory Europeanization will have appropriate prospects. Another important aspect of research using the methodology of this area of institutional analysis, and again - important for our country, are the socio-political processes in transition societies, where democratization has begun, but the achievements in this way are difficult to call sustainable.

As the scientific community urgently seeks to understand the uneven geographical patterns of transmission and mortality rates of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become necessary to challenge the tacit assumption that the pandemic is strictly a public health issue that is primarily reserved for the technocratic expertise of health professionals and officials. These discrepancies in outcome imply that the pandemic yields spatial selectivities (Jessop et al., 2008), which have been revealed through the uneven manifestation of societal impacts between places, localities, communities, and neighbourhoods. For this reason, the pandemic and the management thereof must be deemed as social issues that require the input of sociological theory, insofar as its spread is not only spatially embedded but also socially mediated. To foreground a socio-spatial perspective of the pandemic, I propose that we must start with two analytical premises on socio-spatiality.

Streszczenie:
For many years, the working class has been an object of interest for Russian sociology. In Soviet sociology, a lot of research has been devoted to workers and industrial sociology. The point of attention of sociologists moved towards the study of labor relations and the protest movement in enterprises in the 1990s. Then the workers stopped being in the center of attention of sociology, but now interest in the working class is returning. This article is a form of analytical reflection on the research agenda for the study of workers by Russian sociologists. The analysis is based on publications on the research of Russian workers in the leading Russian sociological journals. Workers are considered as a social and professional group that is in a status crisis as an archaic social class that lost in the course of market reforms and represents an obstacle to modernization. Russian authors point to the return of the significant role of industrial workers against the background of a focus on the technological breakthrough of the Russian economy. An analysis of publications also shows that in recent years, researchers have found it difficult to access enterprises to study workers in their work environment, which affects the understanding of the situation of industrial workers in Russia. Workers have become a popular and convenient object of study as a statistical artifact present in sociological data bases, but sometimes this data speaks little of the real situation of the industrial working class. The article emphasizes the growing interest of Russian sociologists to workers and new approaches to their study, including the biographical method and the included observation.
