Abstract Background/Purpose: An effective financial system should increase the efficiency of economic activities. This study provides evidence regarding the importance of financial development for agricultural growth in Ukraine. Methodology: We used non-integrated and integral indicators, time series and regression analysis to investigate the link between the financial development and agricultural growth. Results: The results based on integral indicators shows that the financial development does not affect agricultural growth in Ukraine. The study based on non-integrated indicators, which characterizes various aspects of the financial system’s banking component and agricultural growth, provided a significant link between the financial system and agriculture growth. The regression models revealed if bank deposits to GDP (%) increases the value added per worker in agriculture increases exponentially. The results of the study indicate that, agriculture is more sensitive to lending changes than the vast majority of other sectors of the economy. The increasing lending of one UAH (Ukrainian hryvnia) resulted in retail turnover growth of 1.62 UAH, while agricultural gross output, growth was UAH 5.06. Conclusion: Our results reveal a positive relationship between financial system’s banking component and agriculture growth in Ukraine. The results indicate the necessity for continued research into further developing universal methodological approaches of appraising the nexus of the financial system’s banking component on agriculture growth in general as well separate farm groups. The results of our study has important implications on policy making authorities efforts to stimulate agricultural growth by improving the efficiency of the financial system’s banking component.

Fertigation is most important in agriculture due to the growth of crops, and their yields depend upon it. If the ratio of fertilizer and water is either higher or lower, it produces various crises. In today’s growing technology and automation, many feasible ways can be used efficiently and anywhere with proper access. With the help of a microcontroller unit, various automatic systems like IoT, PLC system, proportional-integral-derivative, and PID with a fuzzy algorithm, the fertigation system has been implemented. With the help of sensors, this system can detect the soil moisture and water level and stops the water supply. The time can be scheduled as per the choice of the user. This system will ease the farmers to work efficiently, and more time is reduced than the time needed for human interference.

We built simplified models of integral indicators for the level of development of the financial system and for agricultural growth using the principles of "moderate middle way". We then used these models to compare the levels of financial system development, economic and agricultural growth, and trends of financial development and agricultural growth, in Poland and Ukraine. We used the integral indicators and econometric methodologies to assess the relationship between financial development and agricultural growth in both countries. The results of the study revealed the absence of a statistical relationship between integral indicators of financial system development and agricultural growth in Poland and Ukraine. We can ascertain the presence of arguments regarding the existence of the impact of the banking component of the financial system on agriculture in these countries. The regression models showed significant directly proportional relationships between certain aspects of agriculture and some components of the banking sector (resources and effectiveness).

The case of Indian agricultural performance was impressive. The food production and increases in productivity are essential for meeting the growing demands for food in the future. There is widespread opinion that this growing demand can be met by increased use of inputs or increases in agricultural productivity. Productivity growth of agriculture in India over the past four decades was the result of a combination of factors such as new incentives to farmers offered by the government who considered them as autonomous economic agents, and physical factors such as land, labour, capital (in the form of machines, working animals, irrigation system, and so on), and intermediate inputs such as fertilizer. Indian agricultural growth has been less dependent on the conventional inputs of capital. Capital was computed as the sum of the value of agricultural machinery, farm equipment and tools, transport equipment in farm business, land improvements, investments in private and public irrigation, and farm houses in Indian agriculture. As the growth of agriculture increases the importance of conventional inputs of capital becomes lesser in comparison to modern inputs of capital. Since mid 1960s, a package of modern inputs of capital such as high yield variety seeds, chemical fertilizers, tractor etc. has been continuously used with increasing trend in Indian agriculture. This was main cause of the remarkable growth in output of agriculture during 1970s and 1980s decades. This paper is aimed at analyzing the impact of some production variables (input) on agricultural productivity growth (output) in Indian agriculture from 1969-70 to 2005-06. The question here is whether or not these different variables have an impact on agricultural production.

South Asia region has the largest agricultural land area and has the largest irrigated system for agriculture – abstracts groundwater for irrigation purposes. The world is facing water scarcity issues and South Asia is also facing the water-stressed due to high population growth. This study tried to examine the impact of water utilization in the agriculture sector and examined the agriculture sector impact on economic growth in South Asian countries. Water utilization means growth in the agriculture sector and it may cause an increase in economic growth. The study used data from South Asian countries (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives) from 2001 to 2018. Data has been observed through graphical representation to understand the relationship of variables of interest. The results of the research showed that the utilization of water in analyzed countries is one of the reasons for the development of agriculture. Moreover, the development of agriculture may, among other factors, positively affect economic growth. In all the South Asian countries, utilization of water is not efficient some countries utilized the maximum amount of water and get more agricultural growth. Some countries utilized the minimum amount of water and got less agriculture growth. Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka utilized a large amount of water and got more agricultural growth. Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh utilized less amount of water and got less agriculture growth. So, this is not an efficient way of getting agricultural output. Due to old techniques of agriculture production in South Asia, it causes the wastage of water. The developed countries use less input and get more outputs because of this modern era of technology. Also, results revealed that agriculture growth has a positive impact on economic growth for all these countries such as Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. It means South Asian countries are agricultural base countries.

In the social context of advocating a low-carbon economy, achieving sustainable growth in line with current social development requirements is an issue that agribusiness must face. In order to explore the mechanisms influencing the sustainable growth of Chinese agriculture and to optimize the quality of agribusiness decisions, this paper examines the relationship between environmental management, debt financing indicators, and financial sustainable growth of the company in Chinese agriculture. Specifically, a decision support system based on the least square dummy variable (LSDV) model, mediating effects model and threshold effects model was constructed by using annual financial reports and questionnaire data of the listed agricultural enterprises. After empirical analysis, the following results were obtained: first, both environmental management and debt financing management help Chinese agricultural firms achieve financially sustainable growth. Second, debt financing can transmit the effect of environmental management on financially sustainable growth. Third, there are significant differences in the effects of debt financing on financially sustainable growth under different environmental management conditions. Finally, in order to promote the development of Chinese agriculture, this paper suggests that agricultural enterprises should actively implement environmental management and that relevant Chinese authorities should lower the financing threshold of the agricultural industry, while ensuring risk regulation.

The article examines the impact of labor productivity on the development of agriculture. It was established that labor productivity is the main lever for creating additional value and a source of economic growth of agricultural production. An assessment of the achieved level of labor productivity in the agriculture of Ukraine was carried out on the basis of economic and statistical analysis. The monitoring of wage dynamics as the main socioeconomic factor of increasing the productivity of agricultural labor was carried out. A comparative analysis of the rate of increase in labor productivity and the rate of growth of its payment was done. The obtained results made it possible to reveal the presence of disproportions in the agrarian sphere of Ukraine between these indicators. A comparative assessment of the level of labor productivity in domestic agriculture and EU countries proved that the rate of growth of agricultural labor productivity in Ukraine is significantly behind the average European indicators. A set of socio-economic motivators for increasing labor productivity in agricultural production is substantiated on the basis of the research results. It was established that remuneration systems for hired labor remain the main socioeconomic factor stimulating the growth of labor productivity in agrarian business. At the same time, a set of socio-economic motivators, which, in addition to wages, can be effective in stimulating the growth of agricultural labor productivity has been determined. Among the key motivators, the following ones are proposed for use in the modern HR policy of agrarian formations: opportunities for professional development of personnel, opportunities for employees to influence making important management decisions, increasing the prestige of agricultural work, appreciation and self-realization of workers. It was determined that the principles of sustainable development and the elimination of inclusive gaps in the industry should be an important prerequisite for increasing labor productivity in the agricultural economy of Ukraine.

Agriculture in North Carolina contributes to 19 percent of the state’s income and employs over 20 percent of the work force. Agricultural activities are significant in rural counties and nearly 30 percent of the total population of North Carolina lives in 85 rural counties. Individuals in these rural counties have less income, education, and employment opportunities eventually in high poverty and unemployment rates. The objective of this study is to examine the potential use of agriculture in economic growth of North Carolina using county level data. Data were gathered from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and U.S. Census Bureau for the period of 2000 to 2010. A system of simultaneous equations is used for the analysis. Results highlight that increasing income increases agricultural activities and vise versa. Thus, the counties with high household income levels are more capable of incorporating agriculture in economic growth while the counties with significant agricultural activities are more competent of improving income levels. Overall, results conclude the importance of secured satisfactory level of income through agriculture to enhance economic growth.

One of the important contents of China’s agricultural construction is vegetable planting, and most of the vegetable planting technology is relatively backward. The commonly used greenhouse planting technology is simply using special mechanical planting management methods, which cannot realize real-time monitoring of crop growth. In order to optimize the crop growth environment and improve the yield, a smart agricultural monitoring and management system based on PLC and MCGS configuration technology is designed. The system combines PLC technology, configuration technology and sensor technology to complete the overall structure design of the control system, and separately explains the hardware design, software design and operation and debugging of the system. The experimental results show that the system can remotely monitor and control the growing environment of crops, such as soil moisture, gas temperature and humidity, light intensity and other parameters, and the operation and maintenance are convenient, which provides a reference method for the intelligent development of agriculture.

With the increasing population pressure and food insecurity problem in India, and the problem of unsustainable social and economic systems, it was inevitable to shift away the focus of agricultural activities from the traditional system to the modern one. Having followed a series of agricultural policies in India, the role of irrigation and institutional credits cannot be denied upon the growth of output in the sector. There are some studies on the total factor productivity growth (TFPG) in Indian agriculture, but a few studies cover the role of irrigation and bank credit upon agriculture output. The present study computes TFPG out of the institutional roles through public irrigation facilities and commercial bank credit besides traditional inputs in Indian agricultural sector for the post globalized era of 1991-2019. Using the growth accounting approach, the study finds that the institutional factors such as public irrigation facilities and bank finances have contributed significantly to the growth of the agricultural output in India as the values of TFPG have increased over time.

Agricultural advancements have significantly impacted people’s lives and their surroundings in recent years. The insufficient knowledge of the whole agricultural production system and conventional ways of irrigation have limited agricultural yields in the past. The remote sensing innovations recently implemented in agriculture have dramatically revolutionized production efficiency by offering unparalleled opportunities for convenient, versatile, and quick collection of land images to collect critical details on the crop’s conditions. These innovations have enabled automated data collection, simulation, and interpretation based on crop analytics facilitated by deep learning techniques. This paper aims to reveal the transformative patterns of old Chinese agrarian development and fruit production by focusing on the major crop production (from 1980 to 2050) taking into account various forms of data from fruit production (e.g., apples, bananas, citrus fruits, pears, and grapes). In this study, we used production data for different fruits grown in China to predict the future production of these fruits. The study employs deep neural networks to project future fruit production based on the statistics issued by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on the total fruit growth output for this period. The proposed method exhibits encouraging results with an accuracy of 95.56% calculating by accuracy formula based on fruit production variation. Authors further provide recommendations on the AGR-DL (agricultural deep learning) method being helpful for developing countries. The results suggest that the agricultural development in China is acceptable but demands more improvement and government needs to prioritize expanding the fruit production by establishing new strategies for cultivators to boost their performance.

The trend of agricultural technologies and agricultural value-added growth based on time series data of Nepal over the period 2001–2018 has been examined in this paper. The technological progress plays a major role in enhancing the potential productivity of land and affecting the economic growth positively. The results indicated that there are some benefits from the utilization of a system of technological innovations including mechanization. It was found that technological innovations pertaining to soil conditions, irrigation systems and chemical fertilizers might be beneficial to agricultural production growth in the long-term when they are managed in accordance with soil characteristics and in a balanced way. Thus, it is recommended that Nepal makes a large scale investment in agriculture and carry on renewal at opportune moments so as to keep steady the positive trend of the agricultural growth over the years. The investment may be in terms of mechanized technologies, supporting infrastructure and appropriating the knowledge relating to their management; and adopting new farming technologies and practices involving crop rotation, multi-cropping and agro-forestry so as to sustain the growth of agricultural value added.

Resource supply of sustainable development of agro-economical systems should help to increase the competitiveness of agricultural production in the domestic and world food markets and provide the population of the globe with food on the basis of steady increase of agricultural production growth rates. The analysis of the World Bank database for the period from 2012 to 2021 shows that for ten years the added value in the agrarian sector of the Russian Federation economy has increased by 16%, showing positive dynamics of the average annual growth rate with the value of 1.53%. Comparison with the analogous world average growth rate of 2.97% shows that our agro-economic system lags behind the world by almost two times. The OECD countries are developing with an average annual growth rate of 1.88%, which is also ahead of Russia’s indicators. At the same time, Russia’s agro-economic system is developing 0.26% faster than the countries of the European zone. Over the next eight years the Russian Federation expects to achieve an average annual growth rate of agricultural production of 3%, which is 2.7 times higher than the world average. For this purpose Russian agrarians have significant reserves for sustainable development of the agricultural economic system due to expansion of the areas of the main production resource by means of involving 33.04 million hectares of unused agricultural lands (16.7% of the total area) into circulation which, if successfully developed and the average Russian level of land productivity is reached, will give a 15-16% increase in production. The implementation of the program of technical modernization of agriculture can contribute to the achievement of steady annual growth rates of 1.3-1.8% of the branch production. Along with this the important directions of resource provision are the establishment of fair correlation of prices for agricultural products and industrial goods, fulfillment of financial support of agricultural development program and increasing of export potential of domestic agriculture.

The WTO’s Agreement on Agriculture, which was established as a result of the 1986-94 Uraguay Round talks, requires, for both developed and developing countries, to initiate a process of reforms in their agrarian economies with the objective of establishing a fair and market oriented agricultural trading system through multilateral trade negotiations. This Agreement on Agriculture (AoA) specifically asks for major reductions in export subsidies, domestic support and import barriers on agricultural products to achieve this objective, the WTO’s Agreement of Agriculture [WTO (2001)] had set the following quantitative targets for cuts in each of the three specified area, namely import tariffs, domestic supports and export subsidies.

In Nepal, two thirds of the total population depend on agriculture for their livelihoods and more than one third of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) comes from the agriculture sector. However, effective agriculture production across the country remains a serious challenge due to various factors, such as a high degree of spatial and temporal climate variability, irrigated and rain-fed agriculture systems, farmers' fragile social and economic fabric, and unique mountain practices. ICIMOD through SERVIR-Himalaya initiative with collaboration of Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) is working on developing a comprehensive crop monitoring system which aims to provide timely information on crop growth and drought development conditions. This system analyzes historical climate and crop conditions patterns and compares this data with the current growing season to provide timely assessment of crop growth. Using remote sensing data for vegetation indices, temperature and rainfall, the system generated anomaly maps are inferred to predict the increase or shortfall in production. Comparisons can be made both spatially and in graphs and figures at district and Village Developmental Committee (VDC) levels. Timely information on possible anomaly in crop production is later used by the institutions like Ministry of Agricultural Development, Nepal and World Food Programme, Nepal to trigger appropriate management response. Future potential includes integrating data on agricultural inputs, socioeconomics, demographics, and transportation to holistically assess food security in the region served by SERVIR-Himalaya.

Abstract In modern agriculture, intelligent greenhouse systems have become a critical component for optimizing crop growth and maximizing yield. By integrating information technology with the isolation and climate control capabilities of greenhouses, these systems not only enable the automation and intelligence of agricultural production, but also play a crucial role in regulating seasons, protecting crops from extreme weather events, and ensuring optimal growing conditions. In this paper, a comprehensive control system for an intelligent greenhouse was designed, with Mitsubishi PLC and MCGS as the core components, based on the specific growth requirements of plants. The system consists of two main parts: hardware and software. The researchers constructed an advanced control system using a range of sensors and control devices, utilizing a typical PID control algorithm to maintain ideal growing conditions for plants. This research highlights the importance of intelligent greenhouse systems in modern agriculture and presents a promising solution for optimizing crop growth and yield through advanced automation and control.

In this paper, we examine how capital constraints affect the growth of US agricultural cooperatives. Employing a panel data set obtained from CoBank on 669 US agricultural cooperatives over 5 years, we employ system-generalised method of moments to estimate models of cooperative growth that incorporate long-term debt, allocated reserves, and retained earnings as continuous measures of capital constraints. We find that long-term debt use and size have positive impacts on cooperative growth, in violation of Gibrat’s law, which posits that firm size and firm growth are independent. In particular, cash flow, unallocated equity and long-term debt financing are critical contributors to asset growth for small and medium-sized cooperatives.

In spite of technological advancements, the farm productivity of Indian agriculture is still on the lower side. The underlying reason for poor farm productivity in India is due to the inefficient usage of agricultural inputs, resulting in low or poor-quality agricultural yields. Water happens to be one of such imperative agricultural input that has a huge impact on agricultural productivity. Precision agriculture systems can take care of irrigation requirements by optimally and efficiently using irrigation water for producing crops having superior quality and quantity. This work proposes a smart irrigation system that can efficiently manage the water requirements of the crop for its optimal growth. The irrigation schedules are developed using a feed forward neural network model that can predict the variation in the soil moisture considering the environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and the rain. The results indicate the effectiveness of the developed system in predicting the soil moisture with mean square error as low as 0.13 and the R value as high as 0.98.

We identify four main components in the global food system (technology, institutions, people, and natural resources). Based on the extent to which any two of these components are important in driving the growth of agriculture, we distinguish four main orientations of agricultural growth: local food, high resource-technology driven, guided technology driven, and right-to-food growth orientations. Given the social and environmental challenges that agricultural growth has to meet in Cameroon, we argue that the local food orientation and guided technology-driven orientation offer better opportunities for meeting the problem of food security in this country.

Pakistan’s agriculture has grown rapidly since the 1960s, with an average annual growth of about 4 percent over the four decades till the end of the century. Agricultural growth at this rate was sustained by the technological progress embodied in the high-yielding varieties of grains and cotton, with supporting public investment in irrigation, agricultural research and extension (R&E), and physical infrastructure. This rate of agricultural growth has significantly contributed to the overall economic growth of about 6 percent per year during this period. Sustaining this performance presents a considerable challenge for the public policy framework for agriculture, not the least for the agricultural research and extension system in Pakistan. The central role of technological change in increasing agricultural productivity is well established in the wake of the Green Revolution experience across much of Asia. In the context of Pakistan, it has been estimated that almost 58 percent of the total output growth from 1960 to 1996 was due to technological change [Ali (2000)]. While improvements in the physical and market infrastructure, farmer education, price policies, and weather, all have their place in enhancing agricultural production, R&E investments has been regarded by far the most important contributor to agricultural productivity growth [Evenson and Rosegrant (1993); Byerlee (1994)].

It reviews the policy instruments and historical trends in the volumes and composition of budget support and investigates their role in recent agricultural growth. The paper also analyzes the effect of public spending in 2006–2017 on growth in agriculture using the fixed effects model and find positive effect. Support for general services is the most efficient method of agricultural spending, but in the Russian agricultural budget the subsidies to individual producers prevail. While the prevalence of the subsidies in the budget benefits the largest and most successful producers, this was part of the strategy to create strong value chains in order to compete with imports. However, the efficiency of investment support is decreasing. The paper explores the distribution of support between national and sub-national levels of budgeting system, and finds that the regionalization of support leads to market disintegration and efficiency losses.

Awareness towards the loss of soil quality as well as consumer perception about the environmental impact of agricultural activity have stimulated research and government activity toward the implementation of a sustainable agricultural system. The European Commission, in the next funding program, established specific objectives to promote the conversion towards a more environmentally sustainable agricultural system through its Green Deal Strategy. The demand for ecologically and sustainably cultivated fruits increases every year; however, suppressing such demand is necessary to improve the production performance of orchards. The sustainable management of orchard production requires combined knowledge from different fields. The key challenge is to design orchard systems that can integrate sustainable practices, nutrient cycle knowledge and promotion of soil biodiversity. Therefore, this review compiles works that address the challenges in the implementation of a sustainable agriculture system based on Plant Growth-Promoting Bacteria (PGPB) and their impact on soil biodiversity as well as that of nutrient management on the development of fruit orchards.

Purpose – In this paper, the authors set out to establish if there is a link between finance and economic growth in rural areas. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relation between credit by major lenders in rural areas – commercial banks and Farm Credit System (FCS) institutions – and economic growth for the period 1991-2010. Design/methodology/approach – The motivation for this work comes from empirical studies showing a link between economic development and financial system development as well as from work which highlights the positive role of long-term finance provided by banks. The authors use two alternative panel data sets and fixed effects models to estimate the causal effect of credit supply (with lagged explanatory variables) on agricultural GDP growth per rural resident. Findings – The authors find a positive association between agricultural lending and agricultural GDP growth per rural resident with additional billion in loans (about a third of the actual average) associated with 7-10 percent higher state growth rate with this association stronger during the 1990s. Regional data confirm these results. The results point to a positive link between credit and economic growth in rural areas during that period, attributable to the lending by FCS institutions and by commercial banks. Research limitations/implications – Data availability limits the scope of this paper. The authors use state level balance sheet data available for the 1991-2003 period and annual data for 2003-2010 period. An additional regional data set is constructed for 1991-2010 with more aggregated data for the ten USDA agricultural production regions. The small number of panels limits the ability to use more sophisticated econometric models and the choice of dependent variables that captures economic growth. Practical implications – By provides evidence that agricultural finance and in particular lending contribute significantly to the growth of US agriculture, this paper contributes to the policy debate on weather support for agricultural finance initiatives is justified. Originality/value – The authors are not aware of another study that has linked agricultural lending by commercial banks and FCS institutions to growth in rural areas in the USA.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the structure and changes of China’s land system. To achieve this aim, the paper is divided into four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to the structural characteristics of the Chinese land institutional arrangements; the second part analyzes the reform process of the land system in the past 40 years and its path of change; the third part engages the discussion about the historic contribution made by the land institutional change to rapid economic growth and structural changes; and the final part is conclusion and some policy implications. Design/methodology/approach After 40 years of reforms and opening up, China has not only created a growth miracle unparalleled for any major country in human history, but also transformed itself from a rural to an urban society. Behind this great transformation is a systemic reform in land institutions. Rural land institutions went from collectively owned to household responsibility system, thereby protecting farmers’ land rights. This process resulted in long-term sustainable growth in China’s agriculture, a massive rural-urban migration and a historical agricultural transformation. The conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural uses and the introduction of market mechanisms made land a policy tool in driving high economic growth, industrialization and urbanization. Findings Research shows that the role of land and its relationship with the economy will inevitably change as China’s economy enters a new stage of medium-to-high speed growth. With economic restructuring, low-cost industrial land will be less effective. Urbanization is also shifting from rapid expansion to endogenous growth so that returns on land capitalization will decrease and risks will increase. Therefore, China must abandon land-dependent growth model through deepening land reforms and adapt a new pattern of economic development. Originality/value This paper gives a brief introduction to the structural characteristics of the Chinese land institutional arrangements, analyzes the reform process of the land system in the past 40 years and its path of change, and evaluates the historic contribution made by the land institutional change to rapid economic growth and structural changes.

Alarming food supply and demand deficits are projected to the year 2020 and beyond for Pakistan, based on its current low investment/low growth agricultural sector. Evidence suggests that agricultural productivity growth and increases in production may not keep pace with past growth rates. Part of the problem is an underfunded and poorly managed agricultural research system that can not hope to contribute significantly to increasing agricultural productivity now or in the future. The World Bank-assisted Agricultural Research II Project (ARP-II) was initiated to partially overcome some of the funding problems and provide institutional development in the areas of organisation, planning, and management of the research system at both the federal and provincial levels. A National Master Agricultural Research Plan (NMARP) was one of the principal goals of the ARP-II as part of improving research planning and management. The objective of this paper is to review the reasons why the Pakistan agricultural research system needs to be revitalised, review the status and problems of the present agricultural research system, and outline a future agenda for Pakistan’s agricultural research system based on the plan developed for the NMARP.

Providing economic opportunities for youth in agriculture is essential to securing the future of agriculture in Africa, addressing poverty, unemployment, and inequality. However, barriers limit youth participation in agriculture and the broader food system. This scoping review aimed to investigate the opportunities and challenges for youth in participating in agriculture and the food system in Africa. This review conducted a scoping review using the PRISMA guideline. Published studies were retrieved from online databases (Web of Science, Cab Direct, and Science Direct) for 2009 to 2019. The findings showed that existing agricultural interventions are production-centric and provide low-income earnings and inadequate social protection. We also found that the youth have pessimistic perceptions about agriculture’s capability of improving their living standards. This could be ascribed to the minimal youth involvement in agricultural activities and the youth’s shared understanding of the agricultural sector’s contribution to general economic growth. From a policy perspective, the literature revealed that current agricultural development programs do not adequately address structural issues underpinning youth participation in the economy. Therefore, to enhance the involvement of youths in agriculture, there is a need for policy implementation in the area of integrated agricultural-based interventions that are context-specific and promote meaningful youth participation in shaping future food systems.

The key trend for future agricultural growth is efficient, green and sustainable high-quality development, and it is crucial to sort out the factors influencing high-quality agricultural development. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to dissect whether environmental regulation has a catalytic effect on quality rural development, through which paths it is driven and whether there is a threshold effect to be further clarified. Method: In this study, the panel data of 34 provinces in China from 2012 to 2018 are used, and 17 variables are used to construct an evaluation index system, covering four dimensions: agricultural endowment, agricultural output level, agricultural green degree and social sustainability. The high-quality development of agriculture is measured by entropy method. And further, using a baseline regression model and a mediating effects model, we empirically investigated the impact of environmental regulation on high-quality agricultural development and its mechanism of action, and empirically assessed the nonlinear effects of environmental regulation using a threshold regression model. Results: Environmental control, as noted in the study, considerably assists in the establishment of high-quality agriculture; at the same time, large-scale land management plays a role in mitigating the influence of both. There is a single income threshold impact on rural households between high-quality agricultural growth and environmental regulation, and once that threshold is reached, the influence of high-quality agricultural growth grows. Contribution: According to the research findings, recommendations are made for the design of scientific environmental regulation policies, the establishment of a sound service system for large-scale rural land management, and the establishment of a stable mechanism for rural residents to sustain their income, in order to strengthen the effect of environmental regulation and realize high-quality agricultural growth in China. The marginal contribution of this paper is to enrich the study of the relationship between environmental regulation and high-quality agricultural development, which has theoretical and practical implications for promoting sustainable agricultural development.

This study evaluated the agricultural ecological efficiency (AEE) and its spatial distribution characteristics of 31 provinces in China, the data period was from 2000 to 2018. By applying the spatial difference-in-difference (SDID) approach, the study investigates the effects of low-carbon policies on agricultural ecological efficiency in pilot areas. The results demonstrate that low-carbon trading pilot policies have a significant impact on agricultural ecological efficiency. At the same time, the effects of regional economic development, population growth, urbanization, and urban innovation on efficiency are also significant. The improvement of agricultural ecological efficiency requires not only the full implementation of low-carbon trading pilot policies but also the development of regional economy and high-quality agriculture. The findings provide further policy recommendations for high-quality agricultural development.

Global climate change brings many disasters like floods and droughts which pose great danger to human life. Pollution and greenhouse gases also affect agriculture adversely. Environmental degradation occupies the place of utmost importance when it comes to green debate. Environmental pollution can be reduced greatly by providing bathing water, pure air quality and access to neat and clean drinking water. These measures will ensure that the ambitions of climatic health and valuable environment are achieved at the earliest. In this research paper, I illustrate the international causes of degradation of environmental, climate change and its implication for agriculture growth. The paper argues that such certainty components can be projected by altering the current slowed perspectives on the problem talking the load from recent conceptual work on “cumulative change” as against” system change” to properly understand global environmental. Change and environmental degradation, the paper presents an approach to identify and use the” certainty components” it is strong point is that it help to warming. The research at hand is a review on the study survey associated by reduction of environment risk, water, air pollution, enhanced quality of water and betterment of climate factors.

Abstract: The Indian population is highly dependent on agriculture for vegetables, fruits, grains, natural textile fibres like cotton, jute, and many more. Also, the agricultural sector plays a vital role in the economic growth of the country. The agriculture sector is contributing around 19.9 percent since 2020-2021. As a result, agricultural production in India has a significant impact on employment. The soil in India has been in use for thousands of years, resulting in depletion and exhaustion of nutrients and minerals, which leads to a reduction of crop yield. Also, there is a lack of modern applications, which causes a need for precision agriculture. Precision Agriculture, also known as Satellite farming is a series of strategies and tools to manage farms based on observing, measuring, and responding to crop variability both within and between fields. One of the main applications of precision agriculture is the recommendation of accurate crops. It helps in increasing crop yield and gaining profits. This paper aims to review and analyse the implementation and performance of various methodologies on crop recommendation systems. Keywords: Machine Learning, Precision Agriculture, Crop Recommendation System, Classification.

Streszczenie:
In the agricultural industry, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) can be an important tool to promote economic growth. Using network devices in agriculture has the potential to enhance the production process. One of the key challenges WSN faces is energy efficiency. A model based on the water pipeline method is proposed in order to efficiently utilize sensor nodes in agricultural production and water distribution. A water pipeline serves as an important structure for transporting potable water across a distance for consumption or irrigation. In contrast, the biggest transportation problems of water pipelines are leaks. So, water resources may be lost as a result. These pipes need real-time monitoring to prevent such problems. The wireless sensor network technique, however, is considered one of the best solutions available today for monitoring water pipelines. A detailed analysis of agriculture is provided by the model. Aspects of WSN are discussed and their agricultural use is expounded. Moreover, this paper describes the various types of applicability of existing sensor networks in the field of agriculture, along with some technical perspectives. To achieve the best power consumption and communication for the two types of range, ZigBee wireless protocols are utilized. As such, high-performance information that provides a platform for WSNs to better support agricultural production is also included in our proposed model in order to address the shortcomings of existing WSNs regarding energy efficiency. This paper presents the improvements of the proposed solution compared to other techniques in the context of energy conservation in wireless sensor networks and in the monitoring water-saving process.

In recent years, Japan’s agricultural industry has faced a number of challenges, including a decline in production due to a decrease in farmland area, a shortage of labor due to a decrease in the number of producers, and an aging population. Therefore, in recent years, smart agriculture using robots and IoT has been studied. A caliper is often used to analyze the growth of tomatoes in a plant factory, but this method may damage the stems and is also hard on the measurer. We developed a system that detects them through image analysis and measures the thickness of stems and the length between flower clusters and growing points. The camera device developed in this study costs about USD 150 and once installed, it does not need to be moved unless it malfunctions. The camera device reduces the effort required to analyze crop growth by about 80%.
