The purpose of this article is to map the participation of the Brazilian Navy (MB) in cooperation actions in the inter-agency environment at a time when contemporary society deals with a series of challenges, which cross its borders and endanger international and national security. Due to their great capillarity, the Armed Forces have a lot to contribute in facing these threats. The methodology uses an original database, created from November 2018. The survey covers the period from 2010 to 2020, analyzes 206 initiatives based on 15 variables, namely: actors, action, approach, year, month, source, report of the action, geographic distribution, region, modality, hierarchy/maturity, results, frequency, duration, and observation. Among the main results, it is noteworthy that MB carries out most of its cooperation actions in the Southeast region, followed by the North region. Regarding the modality, the Guarantee of Law and Order (GLO) actions and Exercises stand out. Most of the actions are punctual, which is consistent with the type of cooperation most performed, whose characteristic is to be temporary.

Working at heights causes heavy casualties among workers during construction activities. Workers’ unsafe action detection could play a vital role in strengthening the supervision of workers to avoid them falling from heights. Existing methods for managing workers’ unsafe actions commonly rely on managers’ observation, which consumes a lot of human resources and impossibly covers a whole construction site. In this research, we propose an automatic identification method for detecting workers’ unsafe actions, considering a heights working environment, based on an improved Faster Regions with CNN features (Faster R-CNN) algorithm. We designed and carried out a series of experiments involving five types of unsafe actions to examine their efficiency and accuracy. The results illustrate and verify the method’s feasibility for improving safety inspection and supervision, as well as its limitations.

In this paper we describe two novel algorithms for temporal planning. The first algorithm, TP, is an adaptation of the TEMPO algorithm. It compiles each temporal action into two classical actions, corresponding to the start and end of the temporal action, but handles the temporal constraints on actions through a modification of the Fast Downward planning system. The second algorithm, TPSHE, is a pure compilation from temporal to classical planning for the case in which required concurrency only appears in the form of single hard envelopes. We describe novel classes of temporal planning instances for which TPSHE is provably sound and complete. Compiling a temporal instance into a classical one gives a lot of freedom in terms of the planner or heuristic used to solve the instance. In experiments TPSHE significantly outperforms all planners from the temporal track of the International Planning Competition.

While the majority of the American public believe climate change is occurring and are worried, few are engaged in climate change action. In this study, we assessed factors associated with the level of willingness to engage in climate change actions using an online, longitudinal US study of adults. Climate change action outcomes included the level of willingness to post materials online, take political actions, talk with peers about climate change, and donate to or help an organization. Predictors included climate change attitudes, environmental attitudes, political ideology, political party affiliation, and demographic variables. Most (72%) of the 644 respondents only talked about climate change with peers a few times a year or less, though 65% were very or extremely worried about climate change. Many respondents indicated a willingness to do somewhat or a lot more, from 38% willing to talk to peers to 25% for willing to take political actions. In multinomial regression models, the Climate Change Concern scale was strongly and consistently associated with willingness to engage in climate change action. These findings indicate a need to both identify those who are willing to act and finding activities that fit with their interests and availability.

The article presents formal, semantic, and pragmatic features of Slovenian subject impersonal reflexive constructions, e. g. Nekoč se je veliko delalo ‘Back in the day, one used to work a lot’. Constructions with unexpressed arbitrary agents should be distinguished from sentences in which the nominative agent has been omitted, but can be determined from the context. Subject impersonal reflexive constructions use the reflexive forms of non-reflexive verbs. In such constructions, the morpheme se is a grammaticalized element that does not express a reflexive action. The constructions under discussion can express habitual or iterative actions performed by a non-expressed human agent and can also have a deontic meaning. Reflexive constructions with arbitrary agents mainly involve verbs denoting conscious human actions and activities, which sets them apart from weather impersonals or subjectless constructions describing physiological states. Subject impersonals, characteristic of South Slavic and West Slavic languages, are parallel to those in which the arbitrary agent is expressed lexically (Nekoč so ljudje veliko delali ‘Back in the day, people used to work a lot’). We compare subject impersonals with other impersonal and passive constructions in Slovenian and, at the same time, contrast their features with similar constructions in other South Slavic languages and Russian.

Deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has gained a lot of attention in recent years, and has been proven to be able to play Atari games and Go at or above human levels. However, those games are assumed to have a small fixed number of actions and could be trained with a simple CNN network. In this paper, we study a special class of Asian popular card games called Dou Di Zhu, in which two adversarial groups of agents must consider numerous card combinations at each time step, leading to huge number of actions. We propose a novel method to handle combinatorial actions, which we call combinatorial Q-learning (CQL). We employ a two-stage network to reduce action space and also leverage order-invariant max-pooling operations to extract relationships between primitive actions. Results show that our method prevails over other baseline learning algorithms like naive Q-learning and A3C. We develop an easy-to-use card game environments and train all agents adversarially from sractch, with only knowledge of game rules and verify that our agents are comparative to humans. Normative principles of process of purchase and sale of lot land are determined as a result of combination of requirements of the Landed code of Ukraine and Civil code of Ukraine. On the basis of analysis of land and civil legislation the actions of salesman of lot land – legal of peculiar subject are systematized - in case of her sale on a civil agreement as an algorithm of actions. It is marked that lot land can be the article of agreement in relation to a purchase- sale only if she answers the requirements of civil legal relationships (presence of cadastre number and registered right of ownership). Attention is accented on the choice of notary and preparation of necessary documents. The authors establishes the multifactorial nature of the process of selling a land plot (or the right to it) at an auction. The authors identifies the entities participating in land auctions and establishes that the main instrument for implementing land auctions is an electronic trading system owned by the State. Based on the generalization of the provisions of the Land Code, the author formulates the procedural procedure for the sale of a land plot on a competitive basis.A comparative analysis of the processes of selling a land plot under a civil agreement and at an auction is made, which shows that the procedure for selling a land plot at an auction is more complicated and time- consuming than when it is sold under a civil agreement with the participation of a notary. The authors emphasizes the importance of the state significance of the procedure for sale and purchase of land plots and rights thereto.

This paper considers the partial backorders, lot size reorder point inventory system with an imperfect production process. The objective is to simultaneously optimize the lot size, reorder point, process quality, setup cost and lead time, constrained on a service level. We assume the explicit distributional form of lead time demand is unknown but the mean and standard deviation are given. The minimax distribution free approach is utilized to solve the problem and a numerical example is provided to illustrate the results. .

Patriarchal and punitive characterization often casts the silenced Mrs. Lot as a disobedient and unfaithful sinner who ignored God’s command not to look back. Because she did, a common conclusion is that she ostensibly lusted after the depravity of Sodom or Gomorrah as the towns were cataclysmically destroyed by God’s judgment with rains of fire. Feminist and womanist exegetical approaches to the biblical text reject the brunt of patriarchal castigation. As a practical theologian, I analyze the praxiological intent of Mrs. Lot’s actions in the Abram–Lot saga. I approach the Hebraic text using a triadic womanist theoethical method to: (a) deconstruct the hegemonic hermeneutics by critiquing oppressive epistemological presumptions; (b) analyze lived experiences as narrative description to center, name, and validate historically margined or silenced voices; and (c) construct a counternarrative affirming personhood by valuing praxis to resist devaluation. I propose a counternarrative view of Mrs. Lot by deconstructing a patriarchal focus privileging Lot. I describe a narrative of Mrs. Lot’s lived experiences relational to Lot’s questionable ethics in light of societal mores. I then construct a premise for God’s mercy rather than punishment as evidenced in Mrs. Lot’s transformation. The proposal is timely in light of the revelatory publicity of the #MeToo campaign, wherein female voices shed light on past and present abusive experiences. My aim is to urge women and men to resist the normativity of domestic abuse that goes unchecked in the Genesis narrative and in present societal practices. I argue that Mrs. Lot’s lived experiences give ‘voice’ to what must be retold in the symbolism of a salt pillar, which Christ later taught had life-altering properties. Her vilification ends here. Enough.

He, in purpose, does not write about slavery that is commonly read as the cause of the US Civil War. In recent months, there has been a lot of debate surrounding the use of those COVID-19 vaccines that have been either tested or manufactured with cell lines that were isolated from the remains of an aborted fetal child. Most faithful and orthodox Catholic moral theologians, among whom I count myself, have concluded that their use is not intrinsically evil. Therefore, like every other decision that falls into the category of actions that are not intrinsically evil, the decision to be vaccinated with these morally controversial vaccines has to be governed by the virtue of prudence. It is a decision that calls for a wisdom that properly sees this action within the constellation of actions that propels the human agent to the heights of holiness. This is why prayer is so essential for authentic moral judgment. With prayer, we ask the Holy Spirit who is the all-prudent one to guide our actions so that we can choose and act well not only for our only well-being but for the well-being of all. Acts that are not themselves intrinsically evil are deemed virtuous or not within the narrative of the individual person’s life.

Abstract: Simulations have been there for a long time, in different versions and level of complexity. Training a Reinforcement Learning model in a 3D environment lets us understand a lot of new insights from the inference. There have been some examples where the AI learns to Feed Itself, Learns to Start walking, jumping etc. The reason one trains an entire model from the agent knowing nothing to being a perfect task achiever is that during the process, new behavioral patterns can be recorded. Reinforcement Learning is a feedback-based Machine Learning technique in which an agent learns how to behave in a given environment by performing actions and observing the outcomes of those actions. For each positive action, the agent receives positive feedback; for each negative action, the agent receives negative feedback or a penalty. A general simple agent would learn to perform a task and get some reward on accomplishing it. The Agent is also given punishment if it does something that it’s not supposed to do. These simple simulations can evolve, try to use their surroundings, try to fight with other agents to accomplish their goal

PurposeThis paper aims to create a new decision-making procedure that uses “Lot-by-Lot Acceptance Sampling Plan by Attributes” methodology in the production processes when any production interruption is observed in tobacco industry, which is a significant example of batch production.Design/methodology/approachBased on the fish bone diagram, the reasons of the production interruptions are categorized, then Lot-by-Lot Acceptance Sampling Plan by Attributes is studied to overcome the reasons of the production interruptions. Furthermore, managerial aspects of decision making are not ignored and hence, acceptance sampling models are determined by an Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) among the alternative acceptance sampling models.FindingsA three-phased acceptance sampling model is generated for determination of the reasons of production interruptions. Hence, the necessary actions are provided according to the results of the proposed acceptance sampling model. Initially, 729 alternative acceptance sampling models are found and 38 of them are chosen by relaxation. Then, five acceptance sampling models are determined by AHP.Practical implicationsThe current experience dependent decision mechanism is suggested to be replaced by the proposed acceptance sampling model which is based on both statistical and managerial decision-making procedure.Originality/valueAcceptance sampling plans are considered as a decision-making procedure for various cases in production processes. However, to the best of our knowledge Lot-by-Lot Acceptance Sampling Plan by Attributes has not been considered as a decision-making procedure for batch production when any production interruption is investigated.

This paper concerns the study of the global structure of measure-preserving actions of countable groups on standard probability spaces. Weak containment is a hierarchical notion of complexity of such actions, motivated by an analogous concept in the theory of unitary representations. This concept gives rise to an associated notion of equivalence of actions, called weak equivalence, which is much coarser than the notion of isomorphism (conjugacy). It is well understood now that, in general, isomorphism is a very complex notion, a fact which manifests itself, for example, in the lack of any reasonable structure in the space of actions modulo isomorphism. On the other hand, the space of weak equivalence classes is quite well behaved. Another interesting fact that relates to the study of weak containment is that many important parameters associated with actions, such as the type, cost, and combinatorial parameters, turn out to be invariants of weak equivalence and in fact exhibit desirable monotonicity properties with respect to the pre-order of weak containment, a fact that can be useful in certain applications. There has been quite a lot of activity in this area in the last few years, and our goal in this paper is to provide a survey of this work.

INTRODUCTION Emotions companions us in our everyday life and are still difficult to define. Among many functions, such as inducing physiological changes, availability to specific behaviors, the organizing or disorganizing influence of emotions is also distinguished. OBJECTIVE The aim of the article is to show the theory of emotions and answer the question whether they organize our actions or, on the contrary, promote disorganization. STATE OF THE ART. DESCRIPTION Among the many functions attributed to emotions are that they can direct our actions towards a given goal and sustain it, or vice versa. Emotion is, among other things, an expression of the action of instincts, it mobilizes the body, organizes action and performs an energizing function. Nowadays, attention is paid to the mobilizing aspects of emotions - weak or moderate emotions organize our functioning. Only a strong emotional state ceases to motivate, makes our actions disoriented. On the other hand, it is necessary to distinguish between emotional states and motivation. Watson shows emotions as a disorder of homeostasis along with numerous disorders of mental regulation. Clore, Clark, and Watson argue that dysfunctional are persistent, troublesome states that may be manifestations of affective or temperamental disorders rather than transient emotions. Speaking of emotion and its impact on action, it is worth mentioning and stopping at the issue of inhibition and expressing emotional states. CONCLUSION It is not possible to unequivocally determine that emotions either organize or disorganize our behavior, because a lot depends on the intensity of the experienced emotion and its direction

Streszczenie:
The neural or mental simulation of actions is a powerful tool for allowing cognitive agents to develop Prospection Capabilities that are crucial for learning and memorizing key aspects of challenging skills. In previous studies, we developed an approach based on the animation of the redundant human body schema, based on the Passive Motion Paradigm (PMP). In this paper, we show that this approach can be easily extended to hyper-redundant serpentine robots as well as to hybrid configurations where the serpentine robot is functionally integrated with a traditional skeletal infrastructure. A simulation model is analyzed in detail, showing that it incorporates spatio-temporal features discovered in the biomechanical studies of biological hydrostats, such as the elephant trunk or octopus tentacles. It is proposed that such a generative internal model could be the basis for a cognitive architecture appropriate for serpentine robots, independent of the underlying design and control technologies. Although robotic hydrostats have received a lot of attention in recent decades, the great majority of research activities have been focused on the actuation/sensorial/material technologies that can support the design of hyper-redundant soft/serpentine robots, as well as the related control methodologies. The cognitive level of analysis has been limited to motion planning, without addressing synergy formation and mental time travel. This is what this paper is focused on.

Modeling information diffusion over social networks has attracted a lot of attention from both academia and industry. Based on universal generating function method and discrete stress-strength interference theory, a novel method is proposed to model the users’ random forwarding actions, and the most susceptible users are extracted. The effect of a user on information diffusion is quantified as node susceptibility (NS), and NS is defined as the probability that quantity of information (message) the user forwards is larger than that he receives. The model can address three questions: which users are most susceptible, which types of information they are most susceptible to, and when they are most susceptible. The solutions of these questions are very helpful for the practitioners. A case study is used to illustrate the feasibility and practicality of the proposed model.

Let a finite group G act topologically on a closed smooth manifold Mn. One of the most natural and basic questions is whether such an action can be smoothed. More precisely, let γ:G × Mn → Mn be a topological action of G on Mn. The action γ can be smoothed if there exists a smooth action and an equivariant homeomorphism It is well known that for n ≤ 2 every finite topological group action on Mn is smoothable. However already for n = 3 there are examples of topological actions on 3-manifolds which cannot be smoothed (see [1, 2] and references there). All these actions fail to be smoothable because of bad local behaviour.

A lot of attention has been paid on action learning in the last four decades or so and the success of such programmes has also been widely publicized. But why have these programmes been so effective in helping organizations cope with change? Many authors state that the success of such programmes is due to the fact that they link learning to actions. Yet others claim that action learning programmes succeed because they involve employee empowerment and provide a much greater learning curve. In this paper the authors holdthat action learning programmes succeed because they are partly systemic and can be made even more effective if they are fully designed and implemented systemically. The essential features of a systemic method include the ability to help organizations deal with organic, cultural and power complexity. The conclusion that action learning programmes can succeed if they are fully designed and implemented systemically is reached by comparing the essential features of a systemic method with that of an action learning programme. The authors make use of a case study to support their conclusion.

AbstractThe foundational features of multi-agent systems are communication and interaction with other agents. To achieve these features, agents have to transfer messages in the predefined format and semantics. The communication among these agents takes place with the help of ACL (Agent Communication Language). ACL is a predefined language for communication among agents that has been standardised by the FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agent). FIPA-ACL defines different performatives for communication among the agents. These performatives are generic, and it becomes computationally expensive to use them for a specific domain like e-commerce. These performatives do not define the exact meaning of communication for any specific domain like e-commerce. In the present research, we introduced new performatives specifically for e-commerce domain. Our designed performatives are based on FIPA-ACL so that they can still support communication within diverse agent platforms. The proposed performatives are helpful in modelling e-commerce negotiation protocol applications using the paradigm of multi-agent systems for efficient communication. For exact semantic interpretation of the proposed performatives, we also performed formal modelling of these performatives using BNF. The primary objective of our research was to provide the negotiation facility to agents, working in an e-commerce domain, in a succinct way to reduce the number of negotiation messages, time consumption and network overhead on the platform. We used an e-commerce based bidding case study among agents to demonstrate the efficiency of our approach. The results showed that there was a lot of reduction in total time required for the bidding process.

In recent years, androgens have emerged as critical regulators of female reproduction and women’s health in general. While high levels of androgens in women are associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), recent evidence suggests that a certain amount of direct androgen action through androgen receptor is also essential for normal ovarian function. Moreover, prenatal androgen exposure has been reported to cause developmental reprogramming of the fetus that manifests into adult pathologies, supporting the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) hypothesis. Therefore, it has become imperative to understand the underlying mechanism of androgen actions and its downstream effects under normal and pathophysiological conditions. Over the years, there has been a lot of studies on androgen receptor function as a transcriptional regulator in the nucleus as well as androgen-induced rapid extra-nuclear signaling. Conversely, new evidence suggests that androgen actions may also be mediated through epigenetic modulation involving both the nuclear and extra-nuclear androgen signaling. This review focuses on androgen-induced epigenetic modifications in female reproduction, specifically in the ovary, and discusses emerging concepts, latest perceptions, and highlight the areas that need further investigation.

Various techniques have been proposed in different literature to analyze biometric samples collected from individuals. However, not a lot of attention has been paid to the inverse problem, which consists of synthesizing artificial biometric samples that can be used for testing existing biometric systems or protecting them against forgeries. In this paper, we present a framework for mouse dynamics biometrics synthesis. Mouse dynamics biometric is a behavioral biometric technology, which allows user recognition based on the actions received from the mouse input device while interacting with a graphical user interface. The proposed inverse biometric model learns from random raw samples collected from real users and then creates synthetic mouse actions for fake users. The generated mouse actions have unique behavioral properties separate from the real mouse actions. This is shown through various comparisons of behavioral metrics as well as a Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. We also show through a two-fold cross-validation test that by submitting sample synthetic data to an existing mouse biometrics analysis model we achieve comparable performance results as when the model is applied to real mouse data.

Doctors, blinded to the responses, routinely examined all children accompanied by parents and reported their actions after each health check. Multilevel logistic regression was used to analyse the association of the concerns with the actions.Setting21 primary schools in four municipalities in Finland.ParticipantsBetween August 2017 and August 2018, we randomly recruited 1341 children from grades 1 and 5, aged 7 and 11 years, respectively.Outcome measuresOutcome measures were the respondents’ concerns and the school doctor actions. The extent of concerns was assessed on a five-point Likert scale. Concern refers to ‘Quite a lot or a great deal of concern’ by at least one respondent. The school doctor actions included instructions and/or significant discussions, prescriptions, laboratory tests and/or medical imaging, scheduling of follow-up appointments, referrals to other professionals, and referrals to specialised care.ResultsAltogether, respondents were concerned about 47.5% of children. The top three concerns comprised growth/and or physical symptoms (22.7%), emotions (16.2%), and concentration (15.1%). All concerns were associated with some type of school doctor action (ORs: 1.66–4.27, p≤0.05); but only concerns regarding growth and/or physical symptoms were associated with all actions. Almost all concerns were associated with referrals to other professionals (ORs: 1.80–4.52, p≤0.01); emotions had the strongest association OR 4.52 (95% CI 3.00 to 6.80, p<0.0001).ConclusionsHealth checks by school doctors may lead to referrals of children to other professionals especially for children’s psychosocial problems. It follows that for a finitely generated group Γ, the cost is maximal on Bernoulli actions for Γ and that all free factors of i.i.d. (independent and identically distributed) actions of Γ have the same cost. We also show that if f is ergodic, but not strongly ergodic, then f is weakly equivalent to f×I, where Idenotes the trivial action of Γ on the unit interval. Contrary to eu policy, two proactive member states—Lithuania and Poland—have introduced the possibility of using contingency fees in group litigation in order to facilitate group actions. Despite having a lot of potential, this paper will demonstrate that the introduction alone of contingency fees will not facilitate the compensation objective that is embedded in the Directive on damages actions. In addition, it will show that the safeguard policy against frivolous litigation is sufficient to limit the possibilities for litigation abuses, but it is ineffective for monitoring the individual behavior of group representatives.

Background Calorimetry is both expensive and obtrusive but provides the only way to accurately measure energy expenditure in daily living activities of any specific person, as different people can use different amounts of energy despite performing the same actions in the same manner. Deep learning video analysis techniques have traditionally required a lot of data to train; however, recent advances in few-shot learning, where only a few training examples are necessary, have made developing personalized models without a calorimeter a possibility. Objective The primary aim of this study is to determine which activities are most well suited to calibrate a vision-based personalized deep learning calorie estimation system for daily living activities. Methods The SPHERE (Sensor Platform for Healthcare in a Residential Environment) Calorie data set is used, which features 10 participants performing 11 daily living activities totaling 4.5 hours of footage. Calorimeter and video data are available for all recordings. A deep learning method is used to regress calorie predictions from video. Results Models are personalized with 32 seconds from all 11 actions in the data set, and mean square error (MSE) is taken against a calorimeter ground truth. The best single action for calibration is wipe (1.40 MSE). The best pair of actions are sweep and sit (1.09 MSE). This compares favorably to using a whole 30-minute sequence containing 11 actions to calibrate (1.06 MSE). Conclusions A vision-based deep learning energy expenditure estimation system for a wide range of daily living activities can be calibrated to a specific person with footage and calorimeter data from 32 seconds of sweeping and 32 seconds of sitting.

Streszczenie:
In-depth study of real motives for participation in protest actions could contribute a lot to increase effectiveness of educational activities and preventive maintenance with youth. Young people as a socio-demographic group have a high potential for civic participation and they are going to determine the strategy of the country’s political development in a few decades. The thesis deals with the analysis of the results of the field research on motives for the participation in unauthorized protest actions, conducted in July — September 2021 for the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with Public Organizations of St. Petersburg. The following research questions arise: Why do the youth of St. Petersburg participate in unauthorized political actions? What are the major political issues that concern young people most right now? Are protests an effective form of political participation, according to the participants? What are there other effective forms of political participation? Research method — focusgroup with young people of different age, participated in unauthorized protest actions. We revealed significant age differences in motives, perception of current socio-political situation, and awareness of political issues. For adolescents the key motives for participation in unauthorized protest actions are curiosity, interest, and the desire for new emotions, while for adult youth — the desire to express displeasure with the current socio-political situation.
