Streszczenie:
In a simultaneous wireless power and data transfer (SWPDT) system using common coils, achieving high-speed communication in high-power wireless charging systems is challenging due to power transfer interference on communication. Based on high-frequency data carrier-based SWPDT (HFDC-SWPDT) technology, this paper proposes an orthogonal-frequency simultaneous wireless power and data transfer (OF-SWPDT) method to minimize interference where the data carrier frequency is orthogonal to the power carrier frequency and its harmonics. In addition, a guard band is inserted between the spectra of power harmonics and data in order to further separate the power and data spectra. Thus, a high-power, high-speed SWPDT system is achieved. Finally, an 11 kW prototype with 64.125 kbps full-duplex communication is developed to validate the proposed method.

Streszczenie:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to understand the effects of building components of a growing concrete structure and different building materials such as glass and steel on Wi-Fi signals propagation in a construction site. Wireless local area networks are considered effective tools to link the islands-of-communication in construction. Still, designing a Wi-Fi network that can grow with a new construction requires that one understands the performance of propagation of electromagnetic signals transmitted at 2.4 GHz. Design/methodology/approach This paper reviews the theoretical behavior of electromagnetic signals when signal attenuation is caused by various construction materials changing their strengths, directions and possibly leading to total absorption. The authors used a typical building layout to conduct experimental work to measure the effect of common building features and communication technologies on signal strengths. Findings The measured data not only confirmed the theory-based predictions but also demonstrated the complexity of predicting signal propagation when obstructions inhibit the line-of-sight “travel” of electromagnetic signals. Originality/value Different to other papers, the experiments were conducted outside a concrete building mimicking the situation where the transmitter is set up at the site office.

In today's world, wireless communication systems are extremely important for applications related to entertainment, business, commerce, health and safety. These systems continue to advance from generation to generation and at this time, fifth generation (5G) wireless networks are being deployed globally the globe. Beyond 5G wireless systems, which will represent the sixth generation (6G) of the evolution, are already being discussed in academia and industry. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to such wireless networks will be one of the primary and essential elements of 6G systems. According to our present understanding of wireless technologies up to 5G, every component and building block of a wireless system, such as the physical, network, and application layers, will involve one or more of them.

Streszczenie:
Energy consumption is a significant factor in wireless networks with battery-powered nodes and transceivers as a dominant energy consumer .Also mutual exclusion is a fundamental problem in distributed systems.“Mutual exclusion” allows only one process at a time to access the shared resource and the others have to be locked and wait for their turns.. Retaining mutual exclusion, is proposed as a solution to guarantee the correctness of read/written information from/in the shared resource or critical sections (CS).Wireless Network is an unstable network formed dynamically by a connection of wireless mobile nodes without the use of an existing network substructure. Since energy consumption during communication is a major depletion parameter the number of communication must be reduced as much as possible to achieve extended battery life. Since battery technology does not grow as rapidly as CPU or memory does so there is a strong need for the presence of protocols which are as energy efficient as effective. In this paper we present a new fully distributed token–based mutual-exclusion algorithm for clustered Mobile ad-hoc network with message count reduction purpose which eventuates to power optimization. Therefore we use Raymond's algorithm (which is well-known in stepping down message complexity) within the clusters and perpetual Mobility of token (that is so efficient in high load network such as Manet's) between the clusters.

Streszczenie:
In this article, a triple-band patch antenna using a circular patch microstrip antenna is constructed with a low-profile patch antenna using a 1.5 mm thick FR4 substrate (εr= 4.3). As mobile devices like smartphones and laptops become more common, the usage of tiny, triple-band antennas has also become more common. The objective of this research is to design a circular patch antenna with a 3–11 GHz dipole-like radiation pattern, which may be used for industrial, scientific, and medical reasons. For the suggested triple-band antenna design, the slotted radiator with six arches and the reduction of the ground plane are among the components. In addition, the standard 50 Ω RF transmission line stimulates the patch antenna; this transmission line is attached to the microstrip line by an impedance-compliant SMA connection. Data from the experiments are obtained, evaluated, and compared; to the patch's surface current distributions, gain, and radiation patterns. According to the measurements, S11 has an impedance bandwidth in the 5.5 GHz band of less than -10 dB, 6.6 GHz band, and 10.4 GHz band at all frequencies. The superb radiation pattern performance, relatively consistent gain throughout the bands, and practical bandwidths of this antenna make it a good choice for C-band and dual X-band applications.

The main goal of this thesis is to propose efficient adaptive communication mechanisms using cross layer interactions in IEEE 802. 11 WLANs. First, we present a detailed performance evaluation of 802. 11a/b PHY layer transmission modes. The second contribution of the thesis concerns 802. 11 MAC/PHY layers modelling. An analytical model that accounts for the positions of stations with respect to the access point while evaluating the performance of 802. 11 MAC layer, has been proposed. The third contribution of the thesis concerns rate adaptation mechanisms and especially cross layer algorithms between MAC and PHY layers. An adaptive rate selection algorithm, called AARF for low latency systems that improves upon ARF to provide both short-term and long-term adaptation has been proposed. In this field, we also present a new rate adaptation algorithm designed for high latency systems named AMRR that has been implemented and evaluated on an AR5212-based device. We then propose a closed-loop, dynamic rate selection algorithm that can be implemented in all 802. 11a/b/g compliant wireless local area networks. This algorithm called CLARA is a culmination of the best attributes of the transmitter-based ARF and the RBAR control mechanisms with additional practical features to facilitate multipath fading channel sensing and feedback control signalling. The last contribution of the thesis is on the optimization of real time multimedia transmission over 802. 11 based networks. In particular, we propose a simple and efficient cross layer mechanism, called MORSA, for dynamically selecting the transmission mode considering both the channel conditions and characteristics of the media

Study of the IEEE 802. 11 standard un ad hoc networks context: from simulation to experimentation. The mobiles composing ad hoc networks do not rely on any fixed infrastructure and organise themselves depending on nodes movements. This research area is quite recent, and most of the work concerns routing. Because of its commercial availability and its ease of use, IEEE 802. 11 standard (Wi-Fi) is generally chosen to develop and test ad hoc routing protocols. But 802. 11 has not been originally designed for multi-hops networks and has limitations in this context that we intend to highlight. Using simulations then real world experimentations, we bring up many problems ranging from medium access equity to transmission range and environment impact. With its detailed study of these phenomena, this PhD has an impact in particular over ad hoc routing protocols and the way they are designed, but also over upper layers protocols, TCP being the first of them

This thesis analyzes the feasibility, functionality, efficacy and usability of IEEE 802.x wireless mesh networks in multiple DoD contexts. Through multiple field and lab experiments and hardware investigations, an assessment is performed on the realistic implementation issues of wireless mesh networks and their possible applications. A detailed examination is conducted of the variable elements, operational constraints, and possible decision points for developing a usable, robust, self-organizing, wireless mesh network that can be leveraged for maximum usability and shared situational awareness in network-centric operations. The research investigates the suitability of currently available COTS hardware and software wireless mesh networking components for geographically distributed networks. Additionally, a product-line software architecture and a common data interchange XML vocabulary are proposed as the enabling technology elements to carry application layer mesh forward for integration of collaborative sensor-decision maker adaptive networks within the Global Information Grid. The thesis includes the design and implementation of the first Naval Postgraduate School testbed for tactical level mesh networking with unmanned vehicles, unattended sensors, and warrior networking nodes. This thesis also lays the groundwork for further research into lower OSI-layer routing protocols for DoD mesh networks, development of mesh-aware applications, as well as a GIG-wide mesh network architecture.

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an autonomous system of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. They require no fixed infrastructure such as base station to operate; therefore, it is an attractive networking option for connecting mobile devices quickly and spontaneously. The nodes themselves address topology changes due to the mobility, the arrival or the departure of nodes. Today, several applications general multimedia data or rely on the proper transmission of sensitive control traffic. These applications may benefit from a quality of service (QoS) support. Therefore, this field has been extensive/y studied and more and more QoS solutions are proposed for ad hoc networks. During my thesis, I focus on one of the fundamental resources, the bandwidth. Estimating the remaining bandwidth at a given time an in a given part of the network is tricky, as the medium is shared between close nodes in a wireless network. This implies that computation of the available bandwidth between two neighbor nodes requires identification of all the emitter's potential contenders and of all the receiver's potential jammers. I propose therefore a new technique to estimate residual bandwidth in ad hoc networks which present good performances. From this estimation, i have also developed a management scheme for QoS and Best Effort flows in order to increase the acceptance rate of QoS flows. Finally, we also compute an evaluation of end-to-end delay in these ad hoc networks

In this thesis, we study the stream selection based interference alignment (IA) algorithms, which can provide large multiplexing gain, to deal with the interference in the heterogeneous networks. Firstly, different deployment scenarios for the pico cells are investigated assuming perfect channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters. Two different stream selection IA algorithms are proposed for fully and partially connected interference networks and selecting at least one stream is guaranteed for each user. A stream sequence is selected among a predetermined set of sequences that mostly contribute to the sum-rate while performing an exhaustive search. In the proposed algorithms, the complexity of the exhaustive search is significantly decreased while keeping the performance relatively close. After selecting a stream, the interference generated between the selected and the unselected streams is aligned by orthogonal projections. Then, the influence of the imperfect CSI on the proposed algorithms is analyzed and it is observed that the intra-stream interference causes a significant degradation in the performance due to the quantization error. Therefore, we propose an algorithm for the limited feedback scheme. Finally, adaptive bit allocation schemes are presented to maximize the overall capacity for all the proposed algorithms. The performance evaluations are carried out considering different scenarios with different number and placements of pico cells. It is shown that the proposed algorithm for the limited feedback is more robust to channel imperfections compared to the existing IA algorithms

Current consumer devices, such as TVs, smartphones, smartwatches, etc., often come with built-in support for radio-frequency (RF) wireless communication. This support requires RF hardware and de-ends on technologies such as Bluetooth, IEEE 802 WiFi, or 4Gmobile networks. There are situations, however, where the RF data network is not available, or where it is more advantageous to use some other form of wireless communication. One alternative communication through inaudible sound. The same consumer devices that come with RF support usually come equipped with speakers and microphones which enables them to produce and detect inaudible sound. By inaudible sound, we mean sound waves in frequencies that cannot be heard by humans—usually those above 19–22 kHz. Many works in the literature that show that communication through inaudible sound is feasible on consumer-grade PCs, laptops, and smartphones. Here we are mainly concerned with the applicability of this technique to enable inaudible sound applications in the Ginga-NCL engines. This way, we propose a new type of media object called SigGen.
