Streszczenie:
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the response of supplement diets on flight activities of cross breed honeybee (Apis mellifera Lin.) in Chitwan, Nepal. The experiment consisted of five replications and four feeding treatments: feeding low dose sugar (syrup of 166 g sugar); feeding high dose sugar (syrup of 333 g sugar); feeding modified diet (syrup of 166 g sugar + 30 g pollen substitute); and control (no diet supplement except 250 g sugar honey candy to prevent from starvation). Each hive (replication) consisted of five-framed A. mellifera colony, which were fed for six days with four days breaks in each feeding and altogether eleven feedings were provided. Sugar syrup feeding stimulated bee foragers flights by 908-987% out-going and 578-704% in-coming, respectively. Modified diet (low dose sugar syrup combined with pollen substitute) was suitable for off-season management of honeybee colonies, which supported high rate of flight activities i.e. 3.3 times out-going and 2.8 times in-coming as compared to the control colonies. Other treatments were intermediate types. The combined diet also showed higher flights than feeding low dose sugar syrup alone indicating necessity of feeding appropriate diet during off-season under Chitwan condition for good flight and foraging activities of honeybees. Key words: Pollen substitutes, sugar syrup/sugar-honey candy, out-going, in-coming, cross breed J. Inst. Agric. Anim. Sci. 26:71-76 (2005)

Streszczenie:
The all-iron flow battery initially proposed in 1981 by Hruska and Savinell represents a cost effective and environmentally benign system for large scale energy storage1. The all-iron chemistry consists of the Fe2+/Fe3+ redox reaction at the positive electrode, and iron plating and stripping at the negative electrode. Because the standard reduction potential for iron plating is more cathodic than that of hydrogen evolution, electrolyte pH heavily influences coulombic plating efficiency as well as deposit morphology and microstructure2-5. Increasing the electrolyte pH decreases the diffusion limited current for hydrogen evolution and shifts the equilibrium potential more negative6. However, iron is not stable at high pH as shown by the Pourbaix diagram, where it will precipitate as hydroxide species. Boric acid is a common component in iron group plating baths where it is believed to function as a buffering agent helping to stabilize pH near the electrode7-9. However, it is not understood how boric acid with a pKa value of 9.27 can buffer at low pH10. The aim of this work is to further understand the effects of pH near the electrode surface and the role of boric acid on the electrodeposition of iron group metals. Electrodeposition of selected iron group metals will be discussed with a focus on the effect of boric acid. We present an in-situ technique for monitoring near surface pH as a function of plating current density. This measurement is accomplished using a tungsten microelectrode which acts as an indicator for hydrogen ion activity11-13. Our results demonstrate that boric acid is not effective in buffering the near surface pH in the acidic baths tested. Even at high current densities in a pH 2.5 electrolyte, the near surface pH did not exceed 6. However, the addition of boric acid improved deposit morphology and current distribution; coupons plated from electrolytes containing boric acid, and those without, are compared and discussed. At high current density and high pH, boric acid incorporates into the deposits, which is studied by use of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICPOES). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and coulombic efficiency data aid in understanding additive adsorption as well as the influence of boric acid on the deposition mechanism. In addition to surface specific information, the effects of boric acid on exhaustive plating and long-term bath stability will be presented to account for buffering effects in the bulk electrolyte when pH exceeds 6. Streszczenie:
Abstract Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), an effective treatment for leukemia and other disorders, produces profound immune deficiency in the early period after transplantation. Viral reactivations such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality after HSCT. EBV-associated posttransplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) is a life-threating and often fatal complication occurring after allogeneic HSCT with a cumulative incidence of 1% at 10 years. Most cases occur during the first year after transplantation with the incidence highest at 2–3 months after HSCT. Typically PTLD presents as a disseminated disease with fever, lymph node enlargement, respiratory disease and feature of hepatitis. The common lymphadenopathy usually leads to diagnosis, with confirmation on viral tests. Here we retrospectively evaluate the patients at our institution since January 2002 to date (07/2005) who were allogeneic transplanted. Of the total 236 patients who were transplanted during this time period eight patients (3.4 %) developed a significant EBV reactivation with treatment need. Of the eight patients six had a fulminant course. Of these five patients died (EBV reactivation/PTLD is at least probable cause of death). Since at least two of the patients with the fulminant course presented atypically with fever as initial symptom and without other manifestations of PTLD like lymph node enlargement, these cases underline the need of an immediate pre-emptive therapy without any time delay for further diagnostic procedures e. g. diagnostic lymphadenectomy. While at present there is no recommendation of the EBMT for routine surveillance after HSCT, our data indicate the need for a standardized surveillance strategy. Wire-grid polarizers constitute a traditional component for the control of polarization in free-space devices that operate in a broad part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Here, we present an aluminium-based THz wire grid polarizer, fabricated on a sub-wavelength thin flexible and conformal foil of Zeonor polymer having a thickness of 40um. The fabricated device, characterized by means of THz time-domain spectroscopy, exhibitsa high extinction ratio between 30 and 45dB in the 0.3-2.1THz range. The insertion losses oscillate between 0 and 1.1dB andthey stemalmost exclusively from moderate Fabry-Perót reflections and it is engineered forvanishing at 2THz for operation with quantum cascade lasers. The molecular structures and vibration frequencies of unidentate and bidentate coordinations of carbonate ions to calcium ions in the zeolite CaA have been investigated, using the Hartree-Fock method implementing 6-31 G and 6-311 G basis sets. From the calculations, for both coordinations the structures give rise to theoretical vibration frequencies corresponding well to the experimental results. Therefore the charge of the divalent calcium ion is distributed in the zeolitic structure, and not near the guest carbonate ion. Optimized structural parameters for the two coordinations have been given.

Streszczenie:
Flaxleaf fleabane is a difficult-to-control weed in dryland minimum tillage farming systems in the northeast grains region of Australia. Experiments were conducted between 2003 and 2005 to identify effective control strategies on flaxleaf fleabane in wheat and sorghum. A preplant application of chlorsulfuron at 15 g ai/ha in wheat controlled flaxleaf fleabane ≥ 90%. The efficacy of early postemergent applications of metsulfuron–methyl at 4.2 g ai/ha varied between years. However, the flaxleaf fleabane was controlled > 85% with metsulfuron–methyl at 4.2 g ai/ha plus MCPA at 420 g ae/ha plus picloram at 26 g ae/ha, or metsulfuron–methyl followed by late postemergent 2,4-D amine at 300 g ae/ha. In sorghum, a preplant application of glyphosate at 900 g ae/ha plus 2,4-D amine at 900 g ae/ha or dicamba at 500 g ae/ha at 1 mo before sorghum planting provided ≥ 95% control. Preplant atrazine at 2,000 g ai/ha controlled flaxleaf fleabane 83 to 100% in sorghum. At-planting atrazine at 2,000 or 1,000 g ai/ha can be applied to control new emergence of flaxleaf fleabane and grasses, depending on the weed pressure and spectrum. Flaxleaf fleabane reduced sorghum yield 65 to 98% if not controlled.

А. Heterojunctions of p-Si/Cd1-xZnxO were synthesized by depositing of Cd1-xZnxO films on p-Si substrates by electrochemical deposition. The morphological properties of the films were studied by scanning microscopy. The electric and photoelectrical properties of heterojunctions were investigated depending on the deposition potential and films composition. Heterojunctions of p-Si/Cd1-xZnxO, which deposited at cathode potential of -1.2 V, shows good rectification (k=1640). Under AM1.5 conditions the maximal values of open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, fill factor and efficiency of our best nano-structured cell, were Uoc = 442 mV, Jsc = 19.9 mA/cm2, FF = 0.59 and n = 5.1 %, respectively. Streszczenie:
Abstract Abstract 2906 Background: Cardiac complications of transfusional iron overload are well documented in various inherited anemias. In regularly transfused MDS, the deleterious role of iron overload on cardiac disease is more disputed, due in particular to frequent concomitant causes of cardiac failure. Cardiac MRI T2* allows accurate and specific measurement of iron content. Methods: We prospectively evaluated in 4 centers of the GFM by standardized and transferable MRI methods both cardiac T2* according to Anderson (Eur Heart J. 2001Dec;22(23):2171-9) and liver iron content (LIC) according to Gandon (Lancet. 2004 Jan 31;363(9406):357-62), as well as cardiac function by routine echocardiography or MRI in regularly transfused MDS patients. Results: From Dec 2005 to March 2010, 73 patients (pts) were included (14 of them had more than one MRI evaluation over time): 38 M/35F, Median age 68 (24-86); WHO : RA=5, RARS=33, RMCD-RS=3, RMCD=1, RAEB1=9, RAEB2=5, RAEB-T/AML=1, 5q- syndrome=8 and unclassified=8; Karyotype: fav n=50, Int n=9, unfav n=4, failure n=10; IPSS: low n=29, Int-1 n=28, Int-2 n=5 and High n=1, unknown n=10. Median interval from MDS diagnosis and MRI T2* assessment was 49 months (range 0–324). Median serum ferritin at MRI assessment was 1750 ng/ml (range 282–7339) and 54/73 pts were on chelation therapy (CT) (median duration of CT prior to first MRI: 18 months, range 1–125). 37/73 pts had cardiac symptoms and 28 were on cardiac therapy. At first MRI T2* analysis, the median number of RBC units transfused was 68 (range 5–574). Median LIC was 330 micromoles/g/dw (range 40–908). Median Cardiac T2* was 27 ms (range 6–74). 14/73 pts had cardiac iron overload defined by MRI T2* ≤20 ms (19%) and among them 3/73 (4%) had severe cardiac iron overload (T2*≤ 10 ms). LVEF was below normal (55%) in 13/59 cases evaluated. A correlation was found between cardiac T2*and the number of RBC units transfused (Pearson correlation =-0.342, p=0.004) but not with LIC (p= 0.65) and serum ferritin (p=0.21). Cardiac overload was seen in 1/19 (5.5%) pts transfused <50 RBC units, 4/37(12.1%) pts transfused 50–150 units, 9/17 (52.9%) pts transfused >150 units (p= 0.0005). Those 3 pt subgroups also differed in median LIC (μmoles/g/dw) (<50 units= 250, 50–150 units=340, > 150 units=414) (p=0.044 Kruskall-Wallis' test), but not significantly in serum ferritin (p= 0.085). No significant correlation was found between decreased LVEF (< 55%) and cardiac T2* <20 ms (p=0.5), or T2*≤10 ms (p=0.23). In particular, 5/13 pts (38%) with LVEF <55% had T2*<20ms, vs versus 8/46 pts (17%) with LVEF >55% (p= 0.13). However, 1/14, 0/30 and 3/12 pts having received <50, 50–150 and > 150 RBC units had severe cardiac failure (ie LVEF≤35%)(p=0.012). 3/4 pts with severe cardiac failure had T2*< 20ms,compared to 8/54 pts without severe cardiac failure (p=0.023). 14 pts had another cardiac MRI 6 to 34 months (median 18) after the first. All were on CT and had received a median of 60 and 214 PRBC units at first and last MRI, resp. Median Cardiac T2* was 21.6 ms (range 8.5–35.3) and. 28 ms (range 6.4–41) at last and at first assessment, respectively (p=0.3) Conclusions: Moderate and severe post transfusional cardiac iron overload was seen in 19% and 4% of regularly transfused MDS, respectively. The level of cardiac iron overload was well correlated to the number of RBC transfused. The impact of cardiac overload on LVEF was unclear except in pts with severe cardiac impairment (LVEF <35%), possibly suggesting that iron overload is only one of the factors responsible for cardiac disease in many of those elderly patients. Disclosures: No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

The objectives of this study was to determine an ideal regression model for estimating nitrogen status on mangosteen plants, so that the nitogen status in mangosteen leaf tissue can be interpreted. The research was conducted at a mangosteen orchard at Cengal Kampong, Karacak Village, Leuwiliang Subdistrict, Bogor District, West Java in April 2005 till April 2007. A completely randomized block design was used with five treatments levels of N fertilizer dosages and six replications. The dosages levels of N tested were 0, 300, 600, 900, and 1,200 g/plant/year. The results showed that the best regression model for describing the relation between concentration of N on mangosteen leaf of 5 months age and plant production was the quadratic model. According to this model, the nitrogen status in leaf tissues was very low (&lt;0.99%), low (0.99 to &lt;1.35%), medium (1.35 to &lt;2.10%), and high (&gt;2.10%). To increase the concentration of N on mangosteen leaf from low status to medium ones, it needed N fertilizer approximately 3,017 to 7,017 g/plant/year in the first year. For the second year, it required about 2,032 to 4,698 g/plant/year. This results can be used as a guide to estimate fertilizer recommendations for mangosteen.

Control of weeds growing around field edges to limit seed production is an important component of preventative weed management. POST herbicide rates that are effective on weeds growing within a dense corn or soybean canopy may not be high enough to control weeds at the edge of a field. A study was conducted from 2004 through 2006 to compare velvetleaf growth and fecundity at the edge of the field as opposed to within the crop in response to a range of glyphosate rates. Treatments included position (plot center or edge), time of emergence (VE or V4 crop growth stage) and glyphosate rate (0 to 900 g ae ha−1). Without herbicide application, velvetleaf plants grown on the edge flowered earlier, had thicker stems, and produced more seed capsules than plants grown in the center of the plots. At glyphosate application rates of 200 to 900 g ha−1, the percentage of plants surviving and reproducing was higher on the edge than within the crop. Edge plants treated with 900 g ha−1of glyphosate produced more seeds than center plants that received no herbicide. Dose–response curves were used to estimate the glyphosate rate that would reduce seed production of surviving plants to 80% of the untreated plants. Plants emerging at the VE stage were estimated to require 300 g ha−1within the corn or soybean canopy and 668 g ha−1on the crop edge, whereas plants emerging at the V4 stage would require 0 g ha−1within the canopy and 280 g ha−1on the crop edge.

Streszczenie:
The golden potato cyst nematode, Globodera rostochiensis (Wollenweber, 1923) Behren, is an economically important parasite of potato (Solanum tuberosum L. subsp. tuberosum) and is recognized as a quarantine pest internationally (2). This pest attacks potato plants and causes stunting of the haulm and the root system, leaf yellowing, and tuber yield losses (2). The pathotype scheme proposed by Kort et al. distinguishes five pathotypes (Ro1, Ro2, Ro3, Ro4, and Ro5) of G. rostochiensis using differential Solanum clones (1). Several resistance genes and quantitative trait loci (QTL) that have been identified in wild Solanum species confer resistance to different G. rostochiensis pathotypes and have been introgressed into commercial potato cultivars (2). Determining G. rostochiensis pathotype(s) is essential to implement efficient management strategies, which include using resistant potato varieties. G. rostochiensis was discovered in the municipality of Saint-Amable, Quebec (QC), Canada in 2006 (3) and was subsequently characterized (4). In this study, cysts were collected from 11 representative infested fields and confirmed to be G. rostochiensis (3). The pathotypes of these nematodes were assessed on seven differential clones (S. tuberosum subsp. tuberosum cv. Desiree, S. tuberosum × S. andigena cv. Maris Piper, S. kurtzianum hybrid 60.21.19, S. vernei hybrid 62.33.3, S. vernei hybrid 58.1642/4, S. vernei hybrid 65.346/19, and S. multidissectum hybrid P55/7) in 2007 and 2009. Briefly, in each 1-liter plastic pot containing 907 g (2 lbs) of soil (3:1 loam/grit v v-1), a single differential Solanum clone was planted and 15 cysts from 1 of 11 fields were inoculated. Five replicates were set up for each Solanum-nematode combination and the pots were arranged in a completely randomized design in a greenhouse at 22°C with a 16-h light period per day. Nine weeks after inoculation, cysts were extracted from each pot and counted. Reproduction factor (Rf) for each replicate was calculated (Rf = Pf/Pi; Pf is the final cyst number and Pi is the initial cyst number added to each pot). Rf values were used to categorize the differential clones into two groups, “susceptible” leading to increase in nematode numbers (Rf > 1) and “resistant” resulting in decrease in nematode numbers (Rf ≤ 1) (1). Our results in 2007 and 2009 were consistent and the pathotype of the nematodes collected from all the fields were identified as Ro1. To our knowledge, this is the first time that the pathotype of G. rostochiensis in the Saint-Amable regulated area was identified. Accordingly, potato cultivars carrying genes or QTL resistant to G. rostochiensis pathotype Ro1 can be used to reduce the nematode numbers in infested fields in the Saint-Amable area, QC.

Abstract. Drainage for forestry purposes changes the conditions in the peat and leads to increased growth of shrubs and trees. Concurrently, the production and uptake of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) are likely to change: due to the accelerated decomposition of oxic peat, drained peatlands are generally considered to loose peat carbon (C). We measured CO2 exchange with the eddy covariance (EC) method above a drained nutrient-poor peatland forest in Southern Finland for 16 months in 2004–2005. The site, classified as a dwarf-shrub pine bog, had been ditched about 35 years earlier. CH4 and N2O fluxes were measured at 2–5 week intervals with the chamber technique. Drainage had resulted in a relatively little change in the water table level, being on average 40 cm below the ground in 2005. The annual net ecosystem exchange was −870 g CO2 m−2 yr−1 in the calendar year 2005, varying from −810 to −900 g CO2 m−2 yr−1 during the 16 month period under investigation. The site was a small sink of CH4 (−0.12 g CH4 m−2 yr−1) and a small source of N2O (0.10 g N2O m−2 yr−1). Photosynthesis was detected throughout the year when the air temperature exceeded −3 °C. As the annual accumulation of C in the above and below ground tree biomass (550 g CO2 m−2) was significantly less than the net exchange of CO2, about 300 g CO2 m−2 yr−1 (~80 g C m−2) was likely to have accumulated as organic matter into the peat soil. This is a higher average accumulation rate than previously reported for natural northern peatlands, and the first time C accumulation has been shown, by EC measurements, to occur in a drained peatland. Our results suggest that forestry-drainage may significantly increase the CO2 uptake rate of nutrient-poor peatland ecosystems.

Topónimo: EspañaPeríodo: Siglo XX ABSTRACTThis study analyses the path traversed by Catholic reactionaries after the War of Independence and their transition from antinational to National Catholic until they converted to Fascism during the period between the Civil War and the outbreak of World War Two. In this respect, it is worth highlighting the work of José Pemartín. This study mainly focuses on three themes in his most important creation, Qué es lo Nuevo: the differences in tone in comparison with the values expressed by both earlier and coetaneous National-Catholic intellectuals; the attempt to reconcile National-Catholic ideology with Falangist thinking; and Fascist doctrine.

During the period 2000–2003, wild grey foxes (Urocyon cinereoargenteus) in northern Colombia became infected with rabies. In order to derive phylogenetic relationships between rabies viruses isolated in foxes, dogs and humans in this region, 902 nt cDNA fragments containing the G–L intergenic region and encoding the cytoplasmic domain of protein G and a fragment of protein L were obtained by RT–PCR, sequenced and compared. Phylogenetic analysis showed that rabies viruses isolated in foxes, dogs and humans belonged to a single genetic variant. Speculative analysis together with epidemiological data indicated that rabies in foxes may have been due to contact with rabid dogs. Rabies transmission between dogs, wild foxes and humans may happen in natural conditions in northern Colombia. This finding is the first to suggest dog-to-fox rabies transmission in South America, and provides another example of dog rabies variants being able to successfully colonize wildlife hosts.

The aim of the present study was to investigate to what extent personality, gender, and age can predict psychometric intelligence scores. A total of 900 participants completed the Watson–Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal Test, the Graduate Managerial Assessment: Abstract, the Revised NEO Personality Inventory, and the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator. Intelligence was found to be most consistently predicted by high Openness and low Neuroticism, which has been repeatedly reported in the past (Ackerman & Heggestad, 1997; Kyllonen, 1997), as well as by low Extraversion and low Conscientiousness, which has also been previously reported (Furnham, Chamorro‐Premuzic, & Moutafi, under review). Of the demographic factors, there were no gender differences with respect to general intelligence (g), but age was found to be a significant negative predictor of g, in line with previous findings (Matthews, Davies, Westerman, & Stammers, 2000). Streszczenie:
Common waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) is an aggressive annual broadleaf whose distribution is expected to increase rapidly in agricultural land in eastern Canada. Eight field experiments (four in corn and four in soybean) over a 2-yr period (2005 and 2006) were established on two Ontario farms (near Comber and Petrolia, Ontario) with waterhemp infestations to evaluate the efficacy of various PRE- and POST-emergence herbicides applied alone or in sequence for the control of waterhemp in corn and soybean. There was minimal injury (up to 3.8%) to corn and soybean from the herbicide treatments evaluated. In corn, sequential herbicide programs of isoxaflutole + atrazine PRE fb either dicamba POST, dicamba/diflufenzopyr POST, dicamba/atrazine POST or mesotrione + atrazine POST provided consistent full-season control of waterhemp. Corn yield was reduced 48% when waterhemp was not controlled. Corn yield was equivalent to the weed-free check with the herbicide treatments evaluated. In soybean, PRE or POST herbicides alone provided 41 to 94% control of waterhemp, however, waterhemp control was increased to 90 to 99% with the sequential herbicide programs. Dimethenamid (PRE; 1250 g ha-1) followed by glyphosate (POST1; 900 g ha-1) followed by glyphosate (POST2; 900 g ha-1) controlled waterhemp 99%. Results with waterhemp density and biomass were similar to visible control. Soybean yield was reduced 41% when waterhemp was not controlled. Soybean yield was equivalent to the weed-free check with all the herbicide treatment except dimethenamid PRE, acifluorfen POST1 and fomesafen POST1 where the yield was 30, 19, and 19% lower, respectively. Key words: Waterhemp, weed control, glyphosate, corn, soybean, pre-emergence herbicide, post-emergence herbicide

ABSTRACT: Character education in Islam has its own style, as well as the character values con- tained in various learning media for early childhood. This study is a follow-up study to find the effect of Movie Media with Islamic Character Values (M-ICV) in shaping "Ahlaqul Karimah" in early childhood. Using an experimental method with a control class, which involved 19 respondents of early childhood. Data shows that the ttest < t table (0.75 < 2.110), meaning that there is a significant difference in effect between the experimental class and the control class. The results conclude that M-ICV is able to form a child's "Ahlakul Karimah" slowly, because the child likes various movies with content interesting and easy to imitate. The implications of further research on movie content development for children are able to develop other aspects of children's development. Streszczenie:
Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel Rebecca provides rich opportunities for the study of imaginary narrative spaces and the language associated with such spaces. The present study explores the linguistics of the imaginary narrative spaces in Rebecca, drawing upon three lines of linguistic research consistent with a Cognitive Linguistic approach: (i) an interest in understanding and appreciating ordinary readers’ actual responses (rather than merely relying upon “expert” readers’ responses), (ii) the construction of worlds or “spaces”, and (iii) the application of ideas from Cognitive Grammar. The study reveals a surprisingly intricate interplay of linguistic devices used in the construction of imaginary narrative spaces and the maintenance of such spaces in extended discourse. During the 2004 season, preemergence herbicide was applied to 12 container-grown herbaceous perennials and woody plants and evaluated for weed control, phytotoxicity, and effect on plant growth. The herbicide and rates were: pendimethalin (Pendulum 2G) 908 g (label rate), 1816 g, and 3632 g/acre a.i. Herbicides were applied to lady's mantle (Alchemilla mollis), purple rock cress (Aubretia species), blue wild indigo (Baptisia australis), pink pussytoes (Antennaria dioica var. rosea), common sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale), redhot poker (Kniphofia uvaria), showy goldenrod (Solidago speciosa), heartleaf foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia), lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), blue flax (Linum perenne), catmint (Nepeta ×faassenii), and hen and chicks (Sempervivum tectorum). At 32 and 117 days after application, plants were evaluated for phytotoxicity. No phytotoxicity symptoms were apparent on any of the plants tested. Weed control was good in most cases with this herbicide but it did not control all weeds. Increasing the rates from 1× (label rate) did not significantly improve weed control.

Streszczenie:
Play-based learning activities are important programs throughout the world of children's education. Through play, children learn creatively and constructively. This study aims to solve the problem of creativity in early-childhood dance movements with the hope that there will be an increase in aspects of fluency, flexibility and elaboration through play activities related to educational dance. This action research uses an action research method which is carried out in three cycles. The subjects in this study were 19 children aged 5-6 years in Kindergarten in Central Jakarta. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, field notes, video documentation and photos. The findings show every child's creativity in dance movements can be improved through playing activities. Increased creativity in dance movements occurs in the aspects of fluency, flexibility, and elaboration. Another important finding, there is an increase in the optimal ability of dance creativity in the third cycle of this action research. The implication from this research is that play activities suitable for learning creative dance in early childhood must be designed as a program that emphasizes aspects of fluency, flexibility, and elaboration. Streszczenie:
Introduction: Neonatal intubation is done for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hypoxemia, and hypercapnia, for surfactant therapy or for airway protection. When correctly placed, endotracheal tube (ETT) tip should be at mid tracheal position which is half way between the clavicles and the carina to prevent complications of ventilation. Objective: To assess the accuracy of 7-8-9 Rule in neonates at Kanti Children’s hospital. Methodology: Prospective observational study was conducted in neonates who required oral intubations from July 2009 to December 2009 at NICU of Kanti Children’s Hospital. The initial ETT depth of insertion was determined using admission weight in the 7-8-9 Rule calculation. This depth was compared to the midtracheal depth to determine clinical accuracy of the 7-8-9 Rule. Results: Mean gestation age of the 69 infants was 36.01 weeks (26 to 42 weeks) and weight was 2411 g( 900 g to 3800 g ). 7 (10.1%) neonates weighed 1000 g or less, 19 (27.5%) weighed between 1001 to 2000 g, 31 ( 44.9%) weighed between 2001 to 3000 g, 12(17.4%) weighed between 3001 to 4000 g. The accuracy of 7-8-9 rule in clinical setting with auscultation and Chest x-ray resulted in ETT depth 0.11 cm above midtracheal position. (-1.5 to 1.5 cm). Using this rule ET tube was placed 0.11 cm above the mid tracheal position. Conclusions: The 7-8-9 Rule appears to be an accurate clinical method for endotracheal tube placement in Nepalese neonates. We present the short review of the works on a problem of phase transitions (PT) which are distributed in the temperature range ΔТ of PT. Experimental studies of Raman spectra (laser wavelength 514.5 nm) of nanodiamonds after annealing at 900-2000 °C and their detailed numerical analysis with decomposition of the allocated oscillatory D and G bands on the compound spectral components D and G, D (k) and G (k’) relating to various states of Brillouin’s zones were conducted. Detection of temperature maxima of intensities, frequencies and full width at half maximum (FWHM) of individual Raman components as well as intensity of a background defines discrete steps of PT of diamond - onion-shaped carbon in temperature ranges of 940-1200 °C and 1500-2000 °C.

In this work, nitrogen-doped carbon materials (NCMs) were prepared using aniline-phenol benzoxazine (BOZ) or aniline-cardanol benzoxazine as the carbon precursor and SBA-15 as the hard template. The effects of the carbonization temperature (700, 800, and 900 °C) and different nitrogen contents on the electrochemical properties of carbon materials were investigated. The samples synthesized using aniline-phenol benzoxazine as precursors and treated at 900 °C (NCM-900) exhibited an excellent electrochemical performance. The specific capacitance was 460 F/g at a current density of 0.25 A/g and the cycle stability was excellent (96.1% retention rate of the initial capacitance after 2000 cycles) in a 0.5 M H2SO4 electrolyte with a three-electrode system. Furthermore, NCM-900 also exhibited a high specific capacitance, comparable energy/power densities, and excellent cycling stability using a symmetrical electrode system. The characterization of the morphology and structure of the materials suggests it possessed an ordered mesoporous structure and a large specific surface area. NCM-900 could thus be considered a promising electrode material for supercapacitors.

Streszczenie:
The applicability of real-time PCR was examined for detection of vibrios from postharvest-processed (PHP) oysters to allow for a more rapid assay and higher sample throughput than currently used. During June to October 2004, 68 PHP oyster samples were collected directly from PHP firms or from retail markets across the United States. PHP oysters were examined to determine the effectiveness of treatments in the reduction of vibrio levels and to compare the analytical methods utilized. The latter is the focus of the data presented here. Each sample was analyzed for Vibrio parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus by using a 2-dilution, three-tube most-probable-number (MPN) and a 25-g presence/absence enrichment in alkaline peptone water. Following 6-h and overnight enrichment, aliquots from each MPN tube and the 25-g sample were streaked onto selective media and tested by real-time PCR. Colonies from the selective agar were confirmed as V. parahaemolyticus or V. vulnificus by DNA colony hybridization. DNA hybridization and real-time PCR results for each MPN tube and the 25-g enrichment at both time points were analyzed individually for each organism. The methods were in agreement for 857 (95%) of 901 and for 882 (98%) of 903 tubes for detection of V. parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus, respectively. Overall, there was 96% agreement between real-time and DNA colony hybridization. The results obtained by real-time PCR were comparable to those from DNA colony hybridization, but analysis time was significantly reduced for the detection of vibrios in PHP-treated oysters.

e4444019This article presents the results of an investigation into contributions of the analysis of authentic classroom situations to the professional development of the beginner teacher who teaches statistics, constituting a discussion about the formative processes of this professional. To achieve this, we considered the reflections that took place in three episodes of a mathematics teacher training that was part of a specialization course, carried out in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In these three episodes, the teachers analyzed video recordings from an 8th grade class of a basic school, in the City School Network of Rio de Janeiro, addressing statistical representations. They also examined the content related to the task proposed to the students, the didactic potential of the task, and the students’ answers. A qualitative analysis of interpretative nature of the audio transcriptions of the teachers’ discussions in the episodes was carried out, as well as an analysis of the reports they produced based on a script prepared by the trainer. The results show that the analysis of the tasks and students’ responses and the analysis of the videos provided a learning experience about the teaching of statistics, namely regarding the teacher actions according to the reasoning and communication of the students. The teachers consider that these activities are essential in the training process to get closer to the real contexts of the classroom. Keywords: Teacher training, Statistics Teaching, Professional development.Palabras claves: Entrenamiento, Enseñanza de Estadística, Desarrollo profesional.ReferencesAMERICAN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Streszczenie:
Two Permian-Triassic boundary (PTB) successions, Lung Cam in Vietnam, and Lukač in Slovenia, have been sampled for high-resolution magnetic susceptibility, stable isotope and elemental chemistry, and biostratigraphic analyses. These successions are located on the eastern (Lung Cam section) and western margins (Lukač section) of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean during PTB time. Lung Cam, lying along the eastern margin of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean provides an excellent proxy for correlation back to the GSSP and out to other Paleo-Tethyan successions. This proxy is tested herein by correlating the Lung Cam section in Vietnam to the Lukač section in Slovenia, which was deposited along the western margin of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean during the PTB interval. It is shown herein that both the Lung Cam and Lukač sections can be correlated and exhibit similar characteristics through the PTB interval. Using time-series analysis of magnetic susceptibility data, high-resolution ages are obtained for both successions, thus allowing relative ages, relative to the PTB age at ~252 Ma, to be assigned. Evaluation of climate variability along the western and eastern margins of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean through the PTB interval, using d18O values indicates generally cooler climate in the west, below the PTB, changing to generally warmer climates above the boundary. A unique Black Carbon layer (elemental carbon present by agglutinated foraminifers in their test) below the boundary exhibits colder temperatures in the eastern and warmer temperatures in the western Paleo-Tethys Ocean.ReferencesBalsam W., Arimoto R., Ji J., Shen Z, 2007. 11035 Background: Adding X to T extends survival in pts with metastatic BC. The primary objective of the FinXX trial is to compare recurrence-free survival with XT→CEX vs T→CEF as adjuvant therapy in pts with early stage BC. Secondary objectives were comparison of safety and overall survival. Methods: Between Jan 2004 and May 2005, 600 of a planned 1,500 pts were randomized to receive T x 3 → CEF x 3 (T 80 mg/m2 d1 → C 600 mg/m2 d1, E 75 mg/m2 d1, F 600 mg/m2 d1) or TX x 3 → CEX x 3 (T 60 mg/m2 d1 + X 900 mg/m2 bid d1–15 → C 600 mg/m2 d1, E 75 mg/m2 d1, X 900 mg/m2 bid d1–15) q3 wks. Results: Grade 3/4 toxicities (CTCAE, v3) in >5% of pts are shown below. 62 pts required G-CSF. Nos. of cycles with G-CSF were: T 34; XT 15; CEF 17; CEX 15. Adverse events (AEs) led to interruption of T in 7 pts (2%) and XT in 50 pts (16%). Median dose intensities at cycle 3 were T: 95%; XT: 84/97%; CEF: 98/97/98%; CEX: 98/98/84%. T dose reductions of =20% in cycle 3 were needed in 18% and 8% of pts receiving T and XT, respectively. 4 pts died during treatment: pulmonary embolism (n=1) with T and suicide, sudden death and colitis/sepsis (each n=1) with XT. Conclusions: XT→CEX is generally well tolerated. Treatment interruptions were more common with XT→CEX, but were effective in reducing development of grade 3/4 AEs. Neutropenic infections were less frequent with XT vs T and infrequent with XT, CEF and CEX. Rates of grade 3/4 diarrhea and HFS were acceptable with XT and minimal with CEX. Accrual is nearly complete; efficacy data are expected in 2009. [Table: see text] [Table: see text]

Idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis (IPH) is a rare cause of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage with unknown etiology. In the present report, the presentations of two sisters are described: one sister had IPH, eosinophilia and a high serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) level; and the other had IPH, pneumothorax, eosinophilia and a high serum IgE level. Both cases had quite unusual presentations. The first patient was 23 years of age, and had suffered from dry cough and progressive dyspnea for four years. Her hemoglobin level was 60 g/L, total serum IgE level was 900 U/mL and eosinophilia was 9%. Her chest radiography revealed diffuse infiltration. She died due to respiratory failure. The second patient was 18 years of age. She had also suffered from dry cough and gradually increasing dyspnea for two years. She had partial pneumothorax in the right lung and diffuse infiltration in other pulmonary fields on chest radiography. Her hemoglobin level was 99 g/L, total serum IgE level was 1200 U/mL and eosinophilia was 8%. IPH was diagnosed by open lung biopsy. All these findings suggested that familial or allergic factors, as well as immunological factors, might have contributed to the etiology of IPH.

4504 Background: Single-agent gemcitabine (G) remains standard treatment for advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma (APC). The GIP-1 randomized phase III trial (clinicaltrials.gov ID NCT00813696 ) was performed to compare the combination of cisplatin (P) and G vs. G alone as 1st-line treatment. Methods: Patients (pts) with locally advanced and/or metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma, age 18–75, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) ≥50, were randomized to receive G (arm A) or G+P (arm B). In arm A, G was administered at 1000 mg/m2 weekly for 7 consecutive wks, and, after a 2-week rest, on day 1, 8, 15 every 4 wks. In Arm B, P 25 mg/m2 weekly (with the exception of day 22) was added to G, same dose used in Arm A (Colucci et al, Cancer 2002; 94:902–10). No maximum number of cycles was planned. Primary endpoint was overall survival (OS). Clinical benefit (CB), objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), toxicity and quality of life were secondary endpoints. To have 80% power of detecting a 0.74 Hazard Ratio (HR) of death (corresponding to increase in median OS from 4.8 to 6.5 months, with bilateral alpha=0.05, 400 pts were planned and 355 deaths were required for final analysis. Results: From April 2002 to April 2007, 400 pts were enrolled (A:199, B; 201) in 46 Italian Institutions. Median age was 63 yrs (range 35–75), 59% were males, 84% stage IV, 83% KPS≥80. After a median follow-up of 38.2 months and 357 deaths, median OS was 8.3 vs 7.2 months in arm A and B, respectively (HR 1.10, 95% CI 0.89–1.35, p=0.38). Median PFS was 3.9 vs 3.8 months in arm A and B, respectively (HR 0.97, 95% CI 0.80–1.19, p=0.80). ORR was 10.1% in arm A and 12.9% in B (p=0.37). CB response was experienced by 23.0% and 15.1% (Arm A vs B, p=0.057). Patients assigned to combination arm experienced more anaemia (all grades: 50% vs 39%, G3: 5% vs 1%), more neutropenia (all grades: 44% vs 36%, G3&4: 25% vs 14%) and more thrombocytopenia (all grades: 57% vs 29%, G3&4: 16% vs 5%). No relevant differences were seen in non-haematological toxicity. Conclusions: Weekly combination of P and G, compared to single-agent G as 1st-line treatment of APC, failed to demonstrate any improvement in OS, PFS, ORR and clinical benefit. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

Streszczenie:
The incidence of infective endocarditis is underestimated in solid organ transplant recipients. The spectrum of pathogens is different from the general population. The authors report the successful treatment of a 58-year-old woman with infective endocarditis caused by atypical microorganism and presented with atypical manifestations. Past history of the patient included alcoholic liver cirrhosis and cadaver liver transplantation in February 2000. One year after liver transplantation hepatitis B virus infection was diagnosed and treated with antiviral agents. In July 2007 hemodialysis was started due to progressive chronic kidney disease caused by calcineurin toxicity. In November 2013 the patient presented with transient aphasia. Transesophageal echocardiography revealed vegetation in the aortic valve and brain embolization was identified on magnetic resonance images. Initial treatment consisted of a 4-week regimen with ceftriaxone (2 g daily) and gentamycin (60 mg after hemodialysis). Blood cultures were all negative while serology revealed high titre of antibodies against Chlamydia pneumoniae. Moxifloxacin was added as an anti-chlamydial agent, but neurologic symptoms returned. After coronarography, valvular surgery and coronary artery bypass surgery were performed which resulted in full clinical recovery of the patient. Orv. Hetil., 2015, 156(22), 896–900.

Streszczenie:
С. Streszczenie:
In this work, the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) method is used to design and analyze a refractive index sensor based on a slotted photonic crystal nanobeam cavity. These type of cavities support a high quality-factor and a small volume, and therefore is attractive for optical sensing. We demonstrate that when immersing our proposed sensor in water it can possess a high-quality factor of 2.0×10^6, high sensitivity of 325 nm/RIU, and a detection limit of 2.4×10^(-7) RIU. We believe that our proposed sensor is a promising candidate for potential applications sensing like in optofluidic- and bio-sensing. Full Text: PDF ReferencesE. Chow, A. Grot, L. Mirkarimi, M. Streszczenie:
This study evaluated the effects of phytase supplementation on growth performance and apparent digestibility of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in a commercial fish farm setting. Nile tilapia (6300 male, 57.48 ± 1.04 g) were randomly stocked into 42 floating cages. The experimental design was completely randomized, comprising six treatments and seven replications. Fish were fed five phosphorus deficient plant-based diets with graded levels of phytase supplementation (0, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 UF kg−1) and an additional diet containing phosphorus supplementation to meet the requirement of this fish species (positive control). After 97 days of feeding, growth performance data were collected and 900 fish (500 ± 10 g) were relocated to 6 floating cages for the digestibility assessment. Quadratic polynomial regression analysis indicated 1537.5 and 1593.2 UF kg−1 as the optimum dietary levels for daily weight gain and feed conversion rate, respectively. Including 2000 UF kg−1 resulted in the higher dry matter, crude protein, energy, and ash apparent digestibility coefficient values. Therefore, phytase supplementation from 1500 to 2000 UF kg−1 is recommended to enhance growth performance and nutrient bioavailability of Nile tilapia reared according to industry practices.

Streszczenie:
LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 was prepared by high temperature solid-state method under different synthesis temperature. The structure and morphology of LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 were characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Electrochemical performance of the cathode material was researched by Land 2001. XRD and SEM results show that the well-crystallized LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 composite with homogeneous small particles was obtained. And the optimum synthetic temperature was 500°C for 5 hour and 900°C for 20 hour. From charge/discharge test, it can be seen that at 0.1C, 0.2C and 0.5C rate, LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 has initial discharge capacities of 178.6mAh/g, 172.9mAh/g and 152.7mAh/g, respectively. The discharge capacities of optimum sample remain above 85% after 43 cycles. This study provides the selection of synthetic temperature via solid state methods.
