AbstractThe congenerity of Dolichopelma Lundström, 1915 and Chasmatocladius Kieffer, 1911 with Metriocnemus v.d. Wulp, 1874 is confirmed. Types from the Meigen Collection in Paris, the Holmgren Collection in Stockholm, the Zetterstedt Collection in Lund, the Stæger Collection in Copenhagen, and the Thienemann Collection in Munich have been examined. M. albolineatus (Meigen, 1818) is a senior synonym of M. atratulus (Zetterstedt, 1850) and probably of M. hirticollis (Stæger, 1839); M. obscuripes (Holmgren, 1869) a senior synonym of M. eurynotus (Holmgren, 1883), M. transgressus (Holmgren, 1883), M. ripicola (Holmgren, 1883), and M. hygropetricus Kieffer, 1912. M. brevinervis (Holmgren, 1869) is a senior synonym of Paraphaenocladius despectus (Kieffer, 1926). M. atratulus subsp. corticalis Strenzke, 1950a is raised to the species level. M. atriclava sensu Edwards 1929 is probably not identical to M. atriclava Kieffer, 1921. A diagnosis for the genus is given. M. brusti sp.n. is described as male imago, female and pupa, and a possible variety of M. obscuripes as female imago, pupa and larva. M. obscuripes and M. ursinus (Holmgren, 1869) are redescribed in all stages and both sexes; M. albolineatus and M. fuscipes (Meigen, 1818) as male imago, pupa and larva; M. hirticollis as female imago; M. corticalis as male imago and pupa; and M. longipennis (Holmgren, 1883) and M. atriclava sensu Edwards as male imago. The importance of including extensive morphometric descriptions when doing revisionary studies is shown.

Die Entdeckung der rechtlichen Gebilde markiert den Höhepunkt im Wirken Adolf Reinachs (1883-1917), dem Begründer der rechtsphilosophischen Strömung der Rechtsphänomenologie. Anspruch, Verbindlichkeit, Versprechen und Eigentum haben ein vorpositives Sein, das universellen Gesetzmäßigkeiten unterliegt. Diese Gesetzmäßigkeiten werden mit der phänomenologischen Methode Reinachs sichtbar gemacht. An Kontur gewinnt der Begriff der rechtlichen Gebilde durch eine Gegenüberstellung mit den »Rechtskörpern« im Werk Rudolf von Jherings (1818-1892). Die hieraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse bieten einen Orientierungsfaden in einer immer komplexer werdenden, rechtlichen Wirklichkeit, die auch die Rechtsvergleichung mit einschließt.

No começo do ano de 1845, Marx (1818-1883) iniciou os estudos que o levaram a desenvolver e amadurecer seu pensamento tecnológico, concentrando-se nele em 1851 e mantendo este interesse em 1860. Nesses primeiros estudos, Marx utilizou fontes e uma bibliografia alemã, em particular: os escritos de J. Beckmann (1739-1811) e J. H. M. von Poppe (1776-1854). Neste artigo, estudaremos as principais influências que Marx recebeu dos autores supracitados, a partir de seus trabalhos publicados na primeira metade do século XIX, quando a Revolução Industrial na Inglaterra estava em pleno desenvolvimento.

Este texto é resultado de uma breve discussão acerca do materialismo-histórico dialético como uma abordagem que inaugura a noção de historicidade na Modernidade, e do método dialético de Marx como uma base teórico-metodológica para análise e compreensão não somente do modo de produção capitalista como da história social. Parte-se da ideia Marxista de que a ação do homem sobre a natureza, ou seja, o trabalho é o elemento definidor da espécie humana e a luta de classe o motor da história, que são ações que se efetivam de forma dialética. Defende-se, aqui, uma teoria da história desenvolvida na obra do autor a partir dos conceitos, a saber, forças produtivas e relações sociais de produção.

Malgré l'abondante littérature critique sur Tourgueniev certains thèmes importants restent très faiblement étudiés. Ainsi la question de la transformation des motifs tourguenieviens traditionnels dans le roman « Terres vierges » n'a jamais été nettement posée. Cette question justifie une étude particulière. Dans le romanesque de Tourgueniev il y a certains thèmes qui en se transformant, passent de ses premiers romans à « Terres vierges ». Notamment le thème du héros et son environnement, le problème du lyrisme et de la satire, le rôle de la nature. A cela s'ajoute l'évolution des procédés psychologiques de l'écrivain. La notion du personnage est cardinale chez Tourgueniev. L'auteur ne donne presque jamais son avis ouvertement, mais il l'exprime d'une façon indirecte, par l'intermédiaire de quelqu'un ou de quelque chose, avant tout à travers le personnage. C'est pourquoi l'étude du personnage est excessivement importante pour la découverte de l'attitude de l'auteur, pour la compréhension de la conception idéologique de l'œuvre. La présence des traits communs des personnages, la similitude des fonctions qu'ils remplissent dans les romans, permettent de les classer en différents types et suivre leur évolution qui est très sensible dans le romanesque de Tourgueniev
In spite of the lengthy critical literature Turgenev’s works have inspired, it is to be noted that a few topics have very seldom been studied. For instance, the problem of the evolution to be found in the traditional Turgenevian themes recurrent through the novel "virgin lands", has never been clearly stated. That issue well deserves close attention. From Turgenev’s earliest novels to "virgin lands", one can trace various themes which, although they undergone slight alterations, nevertheless remain basically identical. Among others, we could mention the hero in his environment, lyricism and satire, or the part played by nature. Symmetrically, Turgenev’s process of characterization also has developed. The importance attached to characterization by Turgenev is paramount. The novelist's standpoint is hardly ever plainly stated, but indirectly voiced, most of the time through one of his characters. This is why the study of characterization in Turgenev’s works is of the highest importance if we are to grasp his opinions, and the ideological bases on which he laid his writings. The common features linking his characters, the similarities in the functions they fulfil in his novels, make it possible to classify them according to type and to follow their very appreciable evolution throughout Turgenev’s works

La presente tesis explora la relación entre la “estética” y el concepto de “actividad productiva” en Karl Marx, atendiendo a los aspectos más relevantes de su obra temprana y madura. Este trabajo de investigación se propone, en primer lugar, exponer el contexto en el que emergen las categorías marxianas de “actividad sensible” (sinnliche Tätigkeit), de “relación práctica” (praktische Verhältnis) y de “fuerzas humanas esenciales” (menschlichen Wesenskräfte), para a partir de aquí presentar el modo en que ellas se traman a un pensamiento de lo “común” o del “comunismo”, inseparable de la idea de una “emancipación plena de todos los sentidos humanos (vollständige Emanzipation aller menschlichen Sinne)”. Respecto a esto último, nuestra investigación, en segundo lugar, se plantea el problema de los posibles vínculos entre la primera fase de la obra de Marx y la estética del idealismo alemán, particularmente el lazo entre la concepción marxiana de una revolución estética más profunda que la revolución política y la idea en Schiller de una “revolución de la sensibilidad”. Se trata, finalmente, de indagar sobre las relaciones de continuidad y de discontinuidad que hay entre aquel conjunto de categorías en la obra marxiana temprana y la emergencia de los conceptos de “fuerza de producción” y de “división del trabajo”, con el objetivo de esclarecer la problemática de la obra de arte en el marco general de una crítica de la economía política.

Outre le chapitre introductif, qui porte sur l'introduction des théories de Marx, la thèse comprend trois parties. Dans la première, on traite des lectures et critiques des théories de Marx basées sur le livre I du Capital, par les libéraux français et les marginalistes. On montre que ces lectures sont idéologiques ou réductrices. La deuxième partie porte sur la période qui va de la mort de Marx à la publication du livre III du Capital. On y présente la controverse entre Loria et Engels, et les travaux de Sombart, Labriola, Croce, Sorel et Andler. On montre que la lecture de ces auteurs est plus pertinente que celles des libéraux et des marginalistes, parce qu'elle tient compte de la spécificité de la démarche scientifique de Marx. Dans la troisième partie, on étudie des contributions basées sur l'ensemble du Capital. On présente la réaction des marxistes au contenu du livre III, puis on revient sur les libéraux et les marginalistes, pour montrer que leur position évolue très peu. Il apparaît finalement que les critiques de l'œuvre de Marx par ces économistes sont peu concluantes, parce qu'ils en font une lecture inadéquate, malgré les indications fournies à ce propos par certains auteurs
Besides the introductory chapter, which concerns the introduction of the theories of Marx, the thesis comprises three parts. First, we study the readings and critiques of the theories of Marx, based on book I of Capital, by the French liberal economists and the marginalists. We show that those readings are ideological and reductionist. The second part covers the period from the death of Marx to the publication of book III of Capital. We present the controversy between Loria and Engels, and then the contributions of Sombart, Labriola, Croce, Sorel and Andler. We show that the reading of these authors is more accurate than those of the liberals and the marginalists, because it takes the specificity of Marx's scientific approach into account. The third part deals with the readings based on the whole Capital. We present the reaction of marxists to the content of book III; then we come back to liberals and marginalists, to show that their position does not evolve much. In the final analysis, it appears that those economists erroneously interpreted Marx's writings, despite the indications given on this matter by other scholars

In recent years there has been a spectacular growth of Marxist literature on politics and the state in capitalist society. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether this literature has contributed towards a viable, genuinely Marxist theory of the state and to assess the state of current Marxist theorizing more generally. On the basis of a comprehensive review of the relevant literature, from the "classics" to the present, it is argued that: (1) instead of theoretical advances, recent theories have produced a progressive immunization of received orthodoxies against empirical falsification; (2) to the extent that it is nevertheless possible to draw empirical implications from them at all, these have become virtually indistinguishable from those of their "bourgeois" counterparts; (3) what continues to underlie Marxist theorizing is an implicit reliance on "socialism" as the criterion of evaluation of capitalist reality combined with a virtual taboo on explicitly considering the exact nature of this "socialism".

Ici, l'actualite de l'analyse demeure entiere. Non seulement dans la mesure ou elle a a se confronter avec les enjeux contemporains qui font de la question du travail l'une des interrogations centrales de notre modernite, mais aussi en ce qu'elle a su situer cette question, certes a partir de l'economie politique et de sa critique, mais fondamentalement encore a partir d'une reflexion authentiquement inscrite dans la tradition philosophique la plus exigeante. La complexite de la pensee de marx, la richesse de son approche permettent la saisie d'une dialectique de la valeur d'usage et de la valeur d'echange, du travail concret et du travail abstrait, de la poiesis et de la praxis, du concept et de l'experience, qui peut donner a lire le paradigme du travail de notre modernite
Marxism, with its errors and its faults, belongs to contemporary theoretical culture. A close reading of marx's work reveals that one of the principle contributions of marxist thought, consists in the foundations established in the approach to the reality of human work labour. The validity of this analysis is still certain today, not only in so far as it confronts the contemporary stakes which make the question of work one of the central queries of our contemporality, but also in that this analysis has been able to situate this query. Basing itself, certainly, on political economy and its criticism but also on a fundamental reflection genuinely engrained in the most demanding philosophical tradition. The complexity of marxist thought, and the richness of its approach allow the grasp of a dialectic between value of usage and value of exchange, concrete and abstract work labour, poiesis and praxis, concept and experience, which can lead us to the work labour paradigm of our contemporality

Ce travail vise a restituer l'unite de la pensee de k. Marx. Il s'agit de mettre en evidence les liens entre la conception philosophique de marx et la methode qu'il met en oeuvre. C'est en fonction de cette conception et de cette methode qu'on peut par la suite comprendre comment est pose la question de l'etat, dans son rapport aux contradictions fondamentales de la societe. Le lien entre connaissance du monde social et sa possible modification est apprehende au travers l'analyse des divers rapports entre le politique et l'economique, entre les classes et l'etat, entre le national et l'international. Marx prend pour point de depart les conditions d'existence materielles comme determinants les liens d'interdependance et d'opposition entre les classes. Et c'est sur cette base qu'il analysel'etat, le droit et la conscience sociale non comme fin en soi, mais pour orienter l'organisation politique du mouvement ouvrier. Celle-ci pose, en effet, le probleme des rapports entre theorie et pratique, entre processus spontanes et organisation. Au travers l'analyse de ces oppositions se pose aussi le probleme de l'interdependance entre organisation nationale et internationalisme, entre emancipation et contrainte. Quant aux formes specifiques que revet la question nationale, elles sont etudiees en fonction des distinctions a operer entre formations nationales des pays capitalistes anciennement formes et revendications nationales au sein des formations pre-capitalistes. Il s'agit toutefois d'un travail de critique historique generale. C'est pourquoi l'etude porte precisement sur les grands principes d'intelligibilite generale du mouvement de la societe tels que marx les a exposes.

Robert Duncan Milne (1844-99), from Cupar, Fife, was a pioneering author of science fiction stories, most of which appeared in San Francisco’s Argonaut magazine in the 1880s and ’90s. SF historian Sam Moskowitz credits Milne with being the first full-time SF writer, and his contribution to the genre is arguably greater than anyone else including Stevenson and Conan Doyle, yet it has all but disappeared into oblivion. Milne was fascinated by science. He drew on the work of Scottish physicists and inventors such as James Clark Maxwell and Alexander Graham Bell into the possibilities of electromagnetic forces and new communications media to overcome distances in space and time. Milne wrote about visual time-travelling long before H.G. Wells. He foresaw virtual ‘tele-presencing’, remote surveillance, mobile phones and worldwide satellite communications – not to mention climate change, scientific terrorism and drone warfare, cryogenics and molecular reengineering. Milne also wrote on alien life forms, artificial immortality, identity theft and personality exchange, lost worlds and the rediscovery of extinct species. ‘A New Palingenesis’, originally published in The Argonaut on July 7th 1883, and adapted in this comic, is a secular version of the resurrection myth. Mary Shelley was the first scientiser of the occult to rework the supernatural idea of reanimating the dead through the mysterious powers of electricity in Frankenstein (1818). In Milne’s story, in which Doctor S- dissolves his terminally ill wife’s body in order to bring her back to life in restored health, is a striking, further modernisation of Frankenstein, to reflect late-nineteenth century interest in electromagnetic science and spiritualism. In particular, it is a retelling of Shelley’s narrative strand about Frankenstein’s aborted attempt to shape a female mate for his creature, but also his misogynistic ambition to bypass the sexual principle in reproducing life altogether. By doing so, Milne interfused Shelley’s updating of the Promethean myth with others. ‘A New Palingenesis’ is also a version of Pygmalion and his male-ordered, wish-fulfilling desire to animate his idealised female sculpture, Galatea from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, perhaps giving a positive twist to Orpheus’s attempt to bring his corpse-bride Eurydice back from the underworld as well? With its basis in spiritualist ideas about the soul as a kind of electrical intelligence, detachable from the body but a material entity nonetheless, Doctor S- treats his wife as an ‘intelligent battery’. He is thus able to preserve her personality after death and renew her body simultaneously because that captured electrical intelligence also carries a DNA-like code for rebuilding the individual organism itself from its chemical constituents. The descriptions of the experiment and the body’s gradual re-materialisation are among Milne’s most visually impressive, anticipating the X-raylike anatomisation and reversal of Griffin’s disappearance process in Wells’s The Invisible Man (1897). In the context of the 1880s, it must have been a compelling scientisation of the paranormal, combining highly technical descriptions of the Doctor’s system of electrically linked glass coffins with ghostly imagery. It is both dramatic and highly visual, even cinematic in its descriptions, and is here brought to life in the form of a comic.
