Abstract (sommario):

В статье рассматриваются основные направления выполненных по инициативе Петра I реформ в отечественной артиллерии в первой четверти XVIII века - организация артиллерии и развитие материальной части. Анализируются основные конструктивные особенности артиллерийских орудий, применявшихся в период Северной войны. Сделан вывод о значении традиции, продолжающейся со времён правления Петра Великого, - постоянно совершенствовать материальную часть артиллерии. Обращено внимание на высокие достижения в создании артиллерийских орудий, боевых машин и ракетных комплексов в XX столетии выдающихся конструкторов - учёных и выпускников Ленинградского военно-механического института. We look at the main directions of the reforms initiated by Peter I in the Russian artillery in the first quarter of the XVIII century concerning the organization of the artillery and the development of the materiel. The main design features of the artillery guns used during the Northern War are analyzed. The conclusion is made about the significance of the tradition since the reign of Peter the Great to constantly improve the materiel of the artillery. We pay attention to the great achievements of researchers and graduates of the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute in making artillery guns, combat vehicles and missile systems in the XX century.

Abstract (sommario):

Статья посвящена проблеме развития артиллерии и её места в осадной войне начале XVI в. Рассмотрение проблемы осуществляется на материале осады Вены османами в 1529 г. Целью исследования является изучение роли артиллерии во время осады Вены и установление наиболее значимых факторов, повлиявших на исход этой осады. В качестве основных источников использованы австрийские и османские тексты, составленные участниками осады или записанные с их слов. Общую методологическую основу исследования составляют концепция «военной революции» и исторический материализм. В статье подробно рассматривается ход осады, анализируется состав артиллерийского парка обеих сторон и состояние артиллерии как рода войск в Османской империи и в Священной Римской империи, изучаются наиболее эффективные тактики осаждающих и способы, которыми гарнизон противостоит им. Автор даёт ответ на вопрос о значимости артиллерии в рамках этой осады, и приходит к выводу о наибольшем значении для осаждающих тактики подземной (минной) войны, в то время как для сил Габсбургов решающее значение сыграло превосходство в качестве солдат, инженеров и передача военного опыта. The article is devoted to the problem of the development of artillery and its place in siege warfare at the beginning of the 16th century. The study is based on the materials related to the Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1529. The purpose of the study is to examine the role of artillery during the siege and to establish the most significant factors that influenced the outcome of this battle. The main sources are Austrian and Ottoman texts compiled by participants of the siege or written down from their words. The general methodology of the study is the “Military revolution” theory and historical materialism. The article examines in detail the events of the siege, analyzes the composition of the artillery park of both sides and the state of Artillery Corps in the Ottoman Empire and the Holy Roman Empire, studies the most effective tactics of the besiegers and the ways in which the garrison resisted them. The author answers the question about the importance of artillery during the siege, and comes to the conclusion that the greatest importance for the besiegers was the tactics of the tunnel warfare, while for the Habsburg forces a decisive role was played buy superiority in the quality of soldiers, engineers and the transfer of military experience.

Abstract (sommario):

The purpose of the article is to analyze the artillery of Novosil between 1667 and 1696, according to annual estimates. Both general scientific and historical research methods are used. It is stressed that according to an-nual estimates the state of the artillery park of one of the cities of the Belgorod regiment «in the line» – Novo-sil is reconstructed for the first time. The dynamics of its changes during the last third of the 17th century is determined. The number of Novosil artillery systems in 1667, 1676, 1682, 1684 and 1696 is revealed and their classification is given. Variants of calibers and lengths of gun barrels and the number of each of the variants are revealed, as well as distinctive features of some guns such as: functions, characteristics and inscriptions on the barrels. In addition, the order of placement of artillery systems on towers and in the fortress is estab-lished. As a result, the author comes to the conclusion that the artillery park of Novosil in the last third of the 17th century underwent two changes in its composition: between 1676 and 1682 and between 1684 and 1985. However, despite this, throughout the period under study, the fortress was armed mainly with small-caliber artillery of various types.

Abstract (sommario):

The article is dedicated to the usage and types of Red Army heavy and super heavy artillery during the Great Patriotic War. The purpose of the article is to define the exact reasons of low intensity use of Soviet heavy and super-heavy artillery during the war: virtually retreat during 1941-1943 and slow increase of usage during 1944-1945. High intensity of heavy artillery service took place just in 1945. This question has several answers: Red Army high command concerns about expensive guns lost in combat, specific conditions on the Eastern front, incompetence of command is all invalid. Research is based on comparison of archival materials in the field of ordnance production and expenditure. By the use of statistics it described the ordnance production and inventory. The materials show that ordnance production for heavy and super-heavy artillery in USSR was inadequate before the war. Due to the defeat of the Red Army in 1941 the situation worsened. The exact cases were analyzed on the basis of technical and managerial decisions. Ordnance prices and plants involved in ordnance production have also been considered by the research. Exact samples of heavy artillery usage are described with necessary statistics about it: Rzhew battles in 1942, Volkhov battles in 1943. Red Army statistics is compared with Wehrmacht statistics and US statistics of ordnance expenditure. In conclusions it has been shown the interconnection between intensity of use and ordnance provided by war economy.
