<p>AThe increase in public interest in consuming ready-made foods such as street food culinary and the number of street vendors in the food or beverage sector is quite high in Surakarta City making more diversity of consumer tastes in choosing snacks, one of the street foods is Uma Yum Cha dim sum. It is necessary to know about consumer preferences so that business owners are able to meet consumer expectations to provide satisfaction to consumers. This study aims to determine consumer preferences and what attributes are considered by consumers in purchasing Uma Yum Cha dim sum in Surakarta City. Sampling using purposive sampling method with 100 respondents. The analysis methods used are chi-square analysis and fishbein multiattribute analysis. The results showed that the categories of each attribute of Uma Yum Cha dim sum that became consumer preferences included dim sum with a slightly spicy savory taste, a quantity of 4 pcs, a soft texture, medium dim sum size, and promotion through internet media and the most considered attribute by consumers in purchasing Uma Yum Cha dim sum consecutively are taste, texture, quantity, size, and promotion</p>

Background: Chromogranin A (CgA) levels have been reported to predict mortality in patients with heart failure. However, information on the prognostic value and clinical availability of CgA is limited. We compared the prognostic value of CgA to that of previously proven natriuretic peptide biomarkers in patients with acute heart failure.Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 272 patients (mean age, 68.5±15.6 years; 62.9% male) who underwent CgA test in the acute stage of heart failure hospitalization between June 2017 and June 2018. The median follow-up period was 348 days. Prognosis was assessed using the composite events of 1-year death and heart failure hospitalization.Results: In-hospital mortality rate during index admission was 7.0% (n=19). During the 1-year follow-up, a composite event rate was observed in 12.1% (n=33) of the patients. The areas under the receiver-operating characteristic curves for predicting 1-year adverse events were 0.737 and 0.697 for N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and CgA, respectively. During follow-up, patients with high CgA levels (>158 pmol/L) had worse outcomes than those with low CgA levels (≤158 pmol/L) (85.2% vs. 58.6%, p<0.001). When stratifying the patients into four subgroups based on CgA and NT-proBNP levels, patients with high NT-proBNP and high CgA had the worst outcome. CgA had an incremental prognostic value when added to the combination of NT-proBNP and clinically relevant risk factors.Conclusion: The prognostic power of CgA was comparable to that of NT-proBNP in patients with acute heart failure. The combination of CgA and NT-proBNP can improve prognosis prediction in these patients.

AbstractThe current study was conducted to evaluate the component composition, anti-nutritional factors, in vitro gas production (GP) and methane (CH4) production profiles of fruit by-products (pineapple pulp, mango seed kernels, banana and papaya peel, Moringa stenopetala and Moringa oleifera seeds) and leaves of root crops (sweet potato [Ipomoea batatas], cassava [Manihot esculenta], yam [Dioscorea abyssinica], enset [Ensete ventricosum] and samma [Urtica simensis]). Root crop leaves had high crude protein (CP) ranging from 211 to 318 g/kg dry matter (DM) in yam and samma, respectively. M. stenopetala seeds contained the highest CP (450 g/kg DM). Samma leaves were rich in calcium (58.6 g/kg DM) and iron (1186 mg/kg DM). Leaves of root crops had similar concentrations of essential amino acids with appreciable values. Total phenols were highest in mango seed kernels (158 g/kg DM). The asymptotic GP at 96 h incubation of pineapple pulp, papaya and banana peel was 397, 358 and 279 ml/g DM, respectively, and differed significantly from each other. Sweet potato and yam leaves produced 238 and 225 ml/g DM GP, respectively, being significantly higher than those of other root crops. CH4 production was significantly lowest in Moringa seeds, mango seed kernels and sweet potato leaves. In conclusion, fruit by-products have the potential as energy sources and root crop leaves as protein supplements for ruminant and non-ruminant animals. Moringa seeds, mango seed kernels and sweet potato leaves were identified as potential candidates in mitigating CH4 emissions in tropical livestock with animal-based experiments recommended to validate the in vitro findings.

Therefore, the way to seize the market share in the current market, brands are required to focus on differential development and highlight their own advantages. Based on the current development of the tea beverage market, this paper takes Cha Yan Yue Se as the object to make the research and analysis. Besides, the paper uses buzz marketing, 4C theory and other analysis methods to explore the marketing strategies that make the brand successful, and summarizes the current market trends, and proposes how to make full use of differentiated marketing in a saturated market environment to highlight the brand's own competitive advantages. It can provide reference for the development of Chinese new tea drinks.

ABSTRACT In West Africa, seed yam represents an important source of nematode inoculums in yam fields and a major cause of the disease perpetuation. To enhance nematode control on yam (Dioscorea spp.), a pilot participatory field evaluation was conducted in Benin on nematode control potential of abamectin-treated banana paper (treatment A) using seed wrap method. An additional seed yam wrapped with untreated paper (treatment B) is also considered. Both treatments A & B are then compared to unwrapped seed yam representing the farmers’ practice (FP). In each field, plots are arranged in a randomized complete block design with five replicates. The effects of seed yam treatment on nematode control in fields, gustatory qualities of yam tubers, and both social and profitability studies of the technology were assessed. In the present paper, only the study related to the profitability based on the Net Margin (NM) and the ratio Cost/Profit is presented. Results reveal advantages of treatments A and B over (FP). In fact, production statistics from treatments A and B are significantly higher than those from (FP). Based on the "willingness to pay" approach, the profitability study shows that treatment A has a Net Margin of approximately 153.7% that of (FP). Concerning the ratio Cost/Profit, 100 FCFA (West African CFA franc) spent in yam production using this new technology generates around 79.3 FCFA against 59.9 FCFA for (FP). Despite the success of this pilot study, input prices must be monitored before scaling up this innovation to the other agro-ecological regions of Benin. Background: Despite recent advances in first-line chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer, standard treatment after the failure of initial chemotherapy has not been established. Hence, we aimed to retrospectively analyze the clinical characteristics and outcomes of second-line chemotherapy in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Methods: We reviewed the clinical data of patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who underwent palliative chemotherapy at Kosin University Gospel Hospital between January 2013 and October 2020.Results: Among 366 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who had received palliative chemotherapy, 104 (28.4%) underwent at least one cycle of second-line chemotherapy. The median age of the patients at the time of initiating second-line treatment was 62 years (interquartile range, 57–62 years), and 58.7% (61 patients) of them were male. The common second-line chemotherapy regimens were 5-fluorouracil (FU) plus leucovorin, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (33 patients, 31.7%); gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel (29, 27.9%), gemcitabine±erlotinib (13, 12.5%); and oxaliplatin and 5-FU/leucovorin (12, 11.5%). The median overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival were 6.4 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 4.5–8.6 months) and 4.5 months (95% CI, 2.7–6.3 months), respectively. In a multivariate analysis, poor performance status (PS) (hazard ratio [HR], 2.247; p=0.021), metastatic disease (HR, 2.745; p=0.011), and elevated carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels (HR, 1.939; p=0.030) at the beginning of second-line chemotherapy were associated with poor OS.Conclusion: The survival outcome of second-line chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer remains poor. However, PS, disease extent (locally advanced or metastatic), and CEA level may help determine patients who could benefit from second-line treatment.

Hayvancılık faaliyetleri sonucunda atmosferde karbondioksit (CO2), metan (CH4) ve nitröz oksit (N2O) gazları açığa çıkmakta ve açığa çıkan bu gazlar küresel olarak iklim değişikliğine etki etmektedir. Hayvansal üretim önemli bir endüstri haline gelmiştir ve sera gazı emisyonlarının seviyelerini dikkate değer ölçüde arttırmıştır. Bu bağlamda, sera gazı emisyonlarını azaltma stratejilerinde hayvansal üretimin büyük bir rolü bulunmaktadır. Hayvansal üretim sistemlerinde sera gazı üretimini artıran bazı faktörler bulunmaktadır. Bu unsurlar arasında arazi kullanımı, enterik fermantasyon, gübre yönetimi ve işleme ve nakliye gibi unsurlar en üst sıralarda yer almaktadır. Anılan faktörler arasında enterik fermantasyon ruminantların yem alım seviyesine, yemlerin ruminantlar tarafından sindirilebilirliğine bağlı olarak sindirim sistemlerinde metan (CH4) gazı açığa çıkarmakta ve metan (CH4) emisyonlarını meydana getirmektedir. Ruminantların, diğer çiftlik hayvanlarına oranla daha yüksek biyokütleleri ve sindirim ürünleri nedeniyle sera gazı emisyonlarına etkisi daha fazladır. Sera gazını hafifletmeye yönelik yapılan son çalışmalarda, literatürde farklı azaltma stratejileri vurgulanmaktadır. Bu derleme makalede sera gazı emisyonlarını azaltmaya yönelik stratejiler ele alınmıştır.

Abstract The current study first systematically traces the archaeological cultures of southeast China (the Wu Yue region) during the Western Zhou, from the perspective of material culture remains, sources, regional variants, and social conditions revealed from the archaeological evidence. It then analyzes the plurality of interpretations of bronze inscriptions and the nature of documentary records concerning the emergence of the Wu and Yue states and their early history. The author points out that a regional archaeological culture with unique characteristics, showing great cultural affinity with the Wu Yue culture during the late Eastern Zhou period (771–475 BCE) had existed in southeast China during Western Zhou (1045–771 BCE). However, the emergence of Wu and Yue states and their early history recorded in historical texts have not been confirmed by any archaeological discoveries in the form of material cultures, bronze inscriptions, or documentary texts. Assertions of direct connections between related archaeological cultures and early Wu and Yue states lack persuasiveness. Considering this, the author proposes new insights into the textuality of documentary records, the relation between archaeology and historical texts, as well as the essence of historiography.

Abstract Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is the most common disorder causing hypercalcemia, in which parathyroid hormone (PTH) is excessively secreted from a parathyroid tumor. PHPT occurs mainly in elderly women, and patient with PHPT present symptoms including nephrolithiasis, bone fracture, and cognitive impairment or can be asymptomatic. Excessive secretion of PTH leads to elevated serum levels of alkaline phosphatase as well as calcium and decreased serum inorganic phosphate level. Parathyroid surgery is the only established treatment, and the treatment reduces elevated serum levels of calcium and PTH, increases bone mineral density, reduces the occurrence of bone fractures, and decreases the risk of renal stones. However, some PHPT patients, especially elderly patients, refuse to undergo surgical therapy for various reasons including perceived risk. Calcimimetic treatment, including cinacalcet and evocalcet administration, has also been reported to be effective for reducing serum calcium level in patients with PHPT. However, the relationship between the efficacy of calcimimetic treatment for PHPT and patient characteristics related to the effectiveness of calcimimetics remains to be elucidated. To investigate the relevance of clinical parameters to the effectiveness of calcimimetics for PHPT, we retrospectively analyzed patients with PHPT who received calcimimetic treatment in our department. We included nine patients including 8 females (88.9%) and one male (11.1%) in the study. The median age of the patients was 81 years (interquartile range (IQR): 61-86 years). Laboratory tests before calcimimetic treatment revealed that median level of serum corrected calcium (cCa) was high (11.1 (IQR: 10.5-12.7) mg/dL), serum inorganic phosphate was low (2.3 (2.3-2.4) mg/dL), and plasma intact PTH was high (251. 0 (198.3-498.5) pg/mL). The fractional excretion of calcium was higher than 1% (1.3% (1.12-1.48%)), %tubular reabsorption of phosphate was low (79.9% (77.1-83.9%)), nephrogenous cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) was high (3.4 (2.4-4. 0) nmoL/dL GF), and urinary cAMP was normal (4.3 (4. 0-5.3) μmoL/day). Median reduction rate of serum cCa level due to calcimimetic treatment was 5.8% (0-13.4%) at the first follow-up (median treatment duration: 22 (20-29) days). Notably, reduction rate of serum cCa level had significant correlations with age (R=0.95), dual energy X-ray absorptiometry % young adult mean (DEXA %YAM) in the femoral neck (R=-0.92), and urinary cAMP level (R=-0.85). Thus, the present study suggested that elevated serum cCa levels may be reduced by treatment with calcimimetics more effectively in PHPT patients of relatively advanced age, patients with low DEXA %YAM, and patients with low urinary cAMP. Fish bone meal is a product by preserving the fish bone in dry form followed by milling it into powder. Siomay is a food originating from China which is usually served by steaming or frying. This food is usually enjoyed along with tea (yam cha). Siomay, as one type dimsum is widely sold in Chinese restaurants and street vendors in Indonesia. The processing steps of making siomay with the addition of tilapia fish bone meal (Oreochromis niloticus) such as receiving of raw material, separating the bones from the meat, washing 1, boiling the fish bones, cutting the bones, drying the bones, grinding the bones, sieving the fish bone meal, kneading, molding followed by steaming and draining. The aim of this study was to describe the process of making siomay with the addition of tilapia fish bone and to describe the hedonic value and proximate value with different formulations. Formulations of fish bone meals were divided into four groups such as F1 (as a control), without any addition of fish bone meal, F2 6%, F3 7% and F4 12%. The hedonic values showed the panellists mostly liked the formulation of F1 with the addition of 6% of fish bone meal. Characteristics of proximate values of F1 resulted in the water content being 66.95%, fat content being 4.5%, protein content being 5.35% and ash content being 5.77%.

Bu çalışmada, farklı küspeler kullanılarak oluşturulan rasyonların in vitro gaz üretim (GÜ) parametreleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Rasyonlara küspe olarak soya fasulyesi küspesi (SFK) (R1), ayçiçeği tohum küspesi (ATK) (R2) ve kanola küspesi (KK) (R3) katılmıştır. Bu küspelerin farklı oranlarda katılarak oluşturulduğu (R4, R5, R6 ve R7) rasyonlar da hazırlanarak, toplam 7 rasyon elde edilmiştir. Rasyonların besin madde değerleri arasındaki farklılık, mısır DDGS ile dengelenmiştir. Rasyonu oluşturan yem hammaddeleri ve 7 farklı rasyonun kuru madde (KM), ham kül (HK), ham protein (HP), ham yağ (HY), in vitro gaz, in vitro metan ve CO2 üretim miktarları belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen in vitro gaz üretim miktarları ile organik madde sindirilebilirliği (OMS), metabolik enerji (ME) ve net enerji laktasyon (NEL) değerleri hesaplanmıştır. ATK, KK ve SFK’in, inkübasyon süresinin 24. saatinde oluşan gaz miktarları sırasıyla 31,77, 34,65, 50,34 ml olarak bulunmuştur. Küspelerin tek başına katıldığı gruplar arasında ise en yüksek gaz üretimi SFK katkılı R1 grubunda 59,20 ml olarak tespit edilirken, en düşük KK katkılı R3 grubunda 50.54 ml olarak tespit edilmiştir. En düşük CH4 miktarı ATK katkılı R2 grubunda 7,77 ml olarak bulunmuştur. Küspelerin aynı rasyonda kullanımının, tek başlarına kullanımlarına göre daha fazla CH4 ürettiği tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, rasyona ATK’nin SFK ve KK’ne göre oransal olarak daha fazla katılmasının hem ekonomik hem de ekolojik olarak daha fazla katkı sağladığı ve sindirebilirliği de artmasına neden olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca rasyona SFK, ATK ve KK’den biri katılacak ise ATK kullanılmasının daha ekonomik olacağı belirlenmiştir.

Summay Based on the structure of limipterin (Cha, Pfleiderer, and Yim, Helv, Chim. Acta, 78: 600-614. 1995 the biosynthetic pathway for the newly identified pterin glycoside was investigated. It was demonstrated that tetrahydrolimipterin (H4 -limipterin) can be synthesized from GTP by the enzymes GTP cyclohydrolase I, 6-pyruvoyltetrahydropterin (PTP) synthase, sepiaptcrin reductase and limipterin synthase, present in the extract of Chlorobium limicola. Limipterin synthase (UDP-N -acetylglucosamine:5 ,6,7 ,8-tetrahydro-L-biopterin 2'-O-β-N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase) catalyzed the condensation of tetrahydrobiopterin (H4-biopterin) with UDP-N-acetylglucosamine in the presence of dithiothreitol and MnCl2. It could also produce D-tepidopterin, [1-O-(D-threo- biopterin-2'-yl)- β-N -acetylglucosamine] when 5,6,7 ,8-tetrahydro-D-threobiopterin and UDP-N-acetylglucosamine were used as substrates . Substrate analogues such as UTP, UDP and UDP-Nacetylgalactosamine inhibit the enzyme activity. The Km values for tetrahydrobiopterin and UDP-N-acetylglucosamine were 42.2 μM and 124.3 μM, respectively. Optimum pH and temperature were pH 8.0 and 37°C. The molecular weight of the enzyme was calculated to be 46,300 dalton from a calibrated Superdex 75 and the subunit molecular weight was estimated at 46,000 dalton by SDS-PAGE. These results suggest that limipterin synthase exists as a monomer. Biosynthetic intermediates of H4-limipterin such as N2NTP , 6-PTP, and H4-biopterin were identified in vitro using purified GTP cyclohydrolase I, PTP synthase, sepiapterin reductase, and limipterin synthase. From the HPLC and TLC analyses of the enzymic intermediater, it could be concluded that H4-limipterin comes from GTP by way of H4-biopterin in Chlorobium limicola.

In Hong Kong, the Court of Final Appeal in HKSAR v Choy Yuk Ling (CFA 2023) quashed the convictions of a journalist who was accused of knowingly making false statements in her search requests of a government-maintained vehicles register containing personal data crucial to newsgathering. The Court held that the relevant search purposes should not be narrowly construed to exclude bona fide journalism; regard has to be given to freedom of speech and of the press; and data protection law permits disclosures of personal data in the public interest for news activity purposes. However, this decision was soon overturned by the Government’s new measures which in effect prevent any search of the register for journalistic purposes. In early 2024, the enactment of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance by the Government has further eroded the right to newsgathering of Hong Kong journalists. Представлен обзор научной литературы, посвященной проблеме этимологии форм прошедшего времени на -чых/-чык/-йук, а также произведена попытка их дифференциации с другими формами, отождествляемыми некоторыми учеными с анализируемыми формами. Выделяются две основные точки зрения, полемизирующие между собой, в том числе автором приводится своя гипотеза, которая строится на материале хакасского языка, собранном методом сплошной выборки текстов из художественной, публицистической и фольклорной литературы. В ходе сопоставления семантики и некоторых функций монгольской формы на -җээ, киргизской на -чу, якутской на -ааччы, тунгусо-маньчжурской на -ча и хакасской формы на -чых делается вывод, что они не тождественны последней, соответственно, и формам на -чык/-чых/-йук хакасского, тувинского, тофского и древнеуйгурского языков. Особое внимание уделено сочетаниям анализируемой формы -чых с другими индикативными аффиксами прошедшего времени на -ған, -ды, -тыр, -ҷаң, -ғалах, -(п)чатхан. Выявлено, что в хакасском языке имеется аналитическая конструкция -ған полҷых, в связи с чем предположение о стяжении вспомогательного глагола эр- ‘быть’ в форме -ғанҷых -ған + эр-ҷых вызывает сомнение. Выборка показывает, что в хакасском языке форма -чых чаще всего употребляется в нарративе (повествовании), редко встречается в прямой речи. Интересным является то, что в первом случае повествование ведется от третьего лица, случаи употребления данной формы в первом и втором лице не обнаружены. Как показал языковой материал, форма на -чых в хакасском языке имеет свойство сочетаться с разными частями речи и менять позицию в структуре глагольной словоформы подобно частице -ох/-ӧк, которая также пишется слитно со словоформой. Это иллюстрирует тезис о том, что форма на -чых и есть утвердительная частица, некогда часто употребляемая при описании прошедших событий и которая со временем стала принимать личные аффиксы. The article provides a review of the scientific literature devoted to the problem of etymology of the past tense forms -chykh/-chyk/-yuk, as well as an attempt to differentiate them with other forms identified by some researchers with the analyzed forms. There are two main points of view that are polemizing with each other. Besides, the author proposes own hypothesis based on existing views. It, i.e. the author’s hypothesis, is based on the material of the Khakass language, collected by the method of continuous sampling of texts from fiction, journalistic, and folklore literature. Comparing the semantics and some functions of Mongolian form -zhee, Qırghız one -chu, Yakut -aachchy, Tungus-Manchu -cha, and Khakass form -chykh, it is concluded that they are not identical to the latter and, respectively, to the forms -chyk/-chykh/-yuk of the Khakass, Tuvan, Tofalar, and Old Uighur languages. Special attention is paid to the combinations of the analyzed form -chykh with other indicative past tense affixes -gan, -dy, -tyr, -chan, -galakh, -(p)chatkhan. It is revealed that in the Khakass language there is the analytical construction -gan polchykh, in this regard the assumption of the contraction of auxiliary verb er- ‘to be’ in form -ganchykh -gan + er-chykh is doubtful. Sampling shows that in the Khakass language, form -chykh is most often used in narration, and is rarely found in direct speech. It is interesting that in the first case narration is performed from the third person. Cases of the use of this form in the first, second persons have not been found. As our language material has shown, form -chykh in the Khakass language has the property of combining with different parts of speech and changing the position in the structure of a verbal word form, likewise particle okh/ -yok is written together with a word form. This illustrates the thesis that form -chykh is an affirmative particle, once often used when describing past events and which began to take personal affixes over time.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the nutritive value of Yam peel (YP), Maize chaff (MC) and Rice straw (RS). Evaluation of the nutrient and anti-nutrient content of the crop residues involved determination of the proximate, mineral and phytochemical contents of YP, MC and RS. In vitro gas production (IVGP) of crop residues was carried out over a period of 24 hr incubation to predict Metabolizable energy (ME), organic matter digestibility (OMD) and short chain fatty acids (SCFA). Methane (CH4) wasmeasured by introducing 10 M NaOH into the inoculums after incubation. Result revealed significant (p<0.05) differences in the values of the proximate composition. The dry matter ranged between 85.55 and 92.18 g/100 g in YP and MC respectively. The highest crude protein (5.01 g/100 g) was obtained in MC, while the lowest (4.00 g/100 g) was recorded for YP. The crude fibre ranged between 25.05 g/100g and 41.49 g/100g (YP). The mineral content of YP, MC and RS were not significantly different from each other, but within acceptable limit for optimum metabolism. YP, MC and RS were implicated for anti-nutrients, though no significant. The IVGP varied significantly (p< 0.05) with the MC recording the highest (30.10ml) value, while the lowest (23.96ml) value was obtained in YP. Same trend was observed for ME, OMD, SCFA and CH4ranging from 5.32–11.12 MJ/Kg DM; 35.13 –64.14 %; 0.50-1.12 μmol and 9.05 –11.00ml respectively.It can be concluded that YP, MC and RShas potential in livestock nutrition. Also the problem associated with disposal of crop residues can be conveniently reduced by incorporating them into ruminant feed.

Relevance of the work is determined by the need to study the personality and psychological characteristics of students choosing full-time and distance learning to understand the general laws of the formation of the psychological culture of a graduate in the context of the active development of electronic educational space. The purpose of the study is to compare the individual characterological elements of the psychological culture of students choosing full-time and distance learning in the development of engineering specialties. Methods and sampling. The sample consisted of 84 respondents aged 18 to 22 years studying in the field of information technology. They were divided into two groups depending on the preferred form of education: distance learning (40 students) and full-time (44 students). The following tools were used: five-factor personality questionnaire by H. Tsuyi in the adaptation of A.B. Khromov; B. Bass technique for diagnosing the personality orientation, Yu.M. Orlov technique for identifying communication needs; viability test by S. Muddy; self-attitude test questionnaire (CCA) by V.V. Stolin and S.R. Pantileeva. Results. Distinctions in the reflexive-evaluative component, communicative features are highlighted. Students of distance learning have a lower level of the need for communication, lower levels of self-regulation and a more pronounced psychological distance in communication, associated with lower rates of self-acceptance, compared with full-time students. The choice of the method of organizing interpersonal interaction in the educational situation is affected by the psychological distance of the person in communication. In case of distance-learning students, the factor of “attachment-remoteness” appeared to be more significant compared to full-time students, who were characterized by a higher indicator of the need for other people to evaluate them. Conclusions. The active development of e-education requires to take into account the specifics of the personal characteristics of students and should not be limited only to the expansion of user competencies. This is determined by the distinguished differences in the characteristics of self-acceptance, the severity of the need for communication, as well as the psychological distance of the person in communication between students who prefer distance or full-time educational formats.

Abstract BACKGROUND Endocrine therapy (ET) is the mainstay of treatment for metastatic hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (HR+ BC). ET resistance and disease progression are expected, thus novel therapies, like cancer immunotherapy, are needed. Prior data suggest that abemaciclib (abema), a cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK4/6) inhibitor, has immunomodulatory activity. In the MORPHEUS HR+ BC study (NCT03280563), atezolizumab (atezo; anti–programmed death-ligand 1 [PD-L1]) was tested in combination with fulvestrant (FUL), with and without abema, in patients (pts) with HR+ metastatic BC. We present 24-week interim analyses. METHODS Pts with measurable disease progression during first- or second-line therapy for metastatic or inoperable locally advanced HR+ BC and prior treatment with a CDK4/6 inhibitor were randomized to receive FUL (control) or FUL + atezo (1200 mg intravenous every 3 weeks) or FUL + atezo + abema (150 mg twice a day); prior FUL was not permitted. Pts were treated until loss of clinical benefit or unacceptable toxicity. Primary endpoints were objective response rate (ORR) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) v1.1 and safety. Progression-free survival (PFS) was a secondary endpoint. Baseline tumor samples were analyzed for PD-L1 expression (SP263), CD8 T cell infiltration, and gene expression by RNAseq. RESULTS As of Dec 2022, 40, 31, and 25 pts (38, 30, and 20 evaluable pts) were randomized to atezo + abema + FUL, atezo + FUL, and FUL, respectively. Pts were followed for ≥ 24 weeks. Demographics were similar among the groups, with most pts receiving prior palbociclib (palbo) as part of their only prior metastatic therapy. Details and best confirmed ORRs are shown in the table. Median PFS was 6.34 months (95% confidence interval [CI] 5.52, 16.03) in the atezo + abema + FUL arm, 3.15 months (95% CI 1.51, 7.79) in the atezo + FUL arm, and 1.95 months (95% CI 1.45, 4.93) in the FUL arm. The hazard ratio of atezo + abema + FUL vs FUL was 0.43 (95% CI 0.24, 0.78). Safety data are shown in the table. Mild/moderate (grade 1/2) interstitial lung disease (ILD)/pneumonitis (7.7%) was observed in the atezo + abema + FUL arm. At baseline, tumors exhibited low prevalence of PD-L1 (median immune cells: 0.5%, tumor cells: 0%) and CD8 infiltration (12% inflamed phenotype), which did not associate with response in any arm. RNAseq analysis indicated that response to atezo + abema + FUL was strongly associated with low baseline expression levels of proliferation and metabolism signatures and trended with high expression of some immune signatures. CONCLUSIONS The triplet therapy of atezo + abema + FUL showed improved ORR and PFS compared with FUL monotherapy in the second- or third-line setting post-CDK4/6 inhibitor. This combination of atezo + abema + FUL was tolerable, with no unexpected safety signals, including no high-grade ILD/pneumonitis. BackgroundImmune checkpoint inhibitor therapy, or ICI, is currently the most successful treatment option for patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, only 20% of patients have a durable response,1 driving a significant need to improve treatment outcomes. The tumor microbiome has recently been shown to play a role in chemotherapy-based treatment outcomes, but, to our knowledge, no study has explored its role in response to ICIs.2–4MethodsTumor samples were collected from 22 patients with RCC as a part of the Total Cancer Care program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Raw RNA-seq reads from these biopsies, as well as data on the responses to ICI therapy were collected. Response evaluation was based on RECIST v1.1 criteria with complete or partial response, or stable disease classified as ”Responders,”, and progressive disease classified as ”Non-responsders”. The RNA-seq reads were processed through a pipeline developed by the Spakowicz lab, known as ExoTIC (Exogenous sequences in Tumor and Immune Cells), to carefully identify exogenous sequences.5 6 Reads that don’t align to the human reference genome are meticulously filtered of (1) common laboratory contaminants, (2) taxa that inversely correlate with input RNA quantity, and (3) taxa commonly found in the negative controls of microbiome experiments. DESeq2 was used to perform a differential abundance analysis on the comparison groups at every taxonomic level.ResultsThe 22 patients with RCC range from 22 to 74 years of age at diagnosis, are 72.7% male, and 54.5% responded to ICIs. Exogenous taxa are identified in the tumor RNAseq, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses (figure 1). Within the tumors responsive to immunotherapy, there was found to be a significant enrichment of certain microbial species, including Bacillus thuringiensis, Comamonas testosteroni, Colletotrichum higginsianum, and Elaeis guineesis. Comparatively, the cohort of non-responsive tumors was found to have a significant enrichment of Candidatus Promineofilum breve, Clostridioides difficile, Nocardia cyriacigeorgica, Streptomyces sp. Morning tea is a Cantonese tradition of morning activity, originated in the Qing dynasty. After years of change, it has evolved to the current form, serving an assortment of small dishes (dim sum) alongside Chinese tea. The classification of Chinese tea is based on the colors, shapes, aroma, and fermentation degree. Several types of dim sum dishes in Guangdong are categorized according to the region, ingredients selection, taste, and cooking methods. Abstract Historical geological events and Pleistocene climatic fluctuations have played important roles in shaping distribution and population differentiation across taxa. The buff-bellied hummingbird (Amazilia yucatanensis) is widely distributed along the Gulf of Mexico slope and the Yucatan Peninsula. Here, we obtained measurements and sequenced two mitochondrial DNA fragments from currently recognized subspecies: Amazilia yucatanensis yucatanensis (YUC), Amazilia yucatanensis cerviniventris (CER) and Amazilia yucatanensis chalconota (CHA). Additionally, we tested for their genetic and morphological differentiation, demographic expansion, palaeoclimatic distribution and niche overlap. Our results reveal genetic differentiation between two groups of populations: (1) from the Yucatan Peninsula to Veracruz (YUC+CER); and (2) from Veracruz to Tamaulipas (CHA). Neutrality tests and Bayesian skyline plots suggest past demographic expansion without changes in the effective population size over time. The potential distribution was fragmented at the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt and expanded northwards during the Last Glacial Maximum and Mid-Holocene to current conditions. Niche overlap was higher between YUC and CER. The environmental space occupied by subspecies was more similar to each other than expected by chance but significantly non-equivalent. Our results provide new insight on the distribution of this widespread hummingbird species and suggest that fragmentation during glaciations and differences in habitat have played a role in the recent diversification.

AbstractBackgroundPlant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) modified by plant‐associated microbes can attract or repel the oviposition of herbivores. Here, we explored the effects of three different fungi on apples’ VOCs and the cascading impacts on the oviposition preference of yellow peach moth (YPM, Conogethes punctiferalis (Guenée)).ResultsAmong Penicillium crustosum‐infected apples (PCA), Rhizopus oryzae‐infected apples (ROA), Colletotrichum gloeosporioides‐infected apples (CGA) and healthy apples (HA), mated YPM females preferred to oviposit eggs on ROA and CGA, and showed significant attractiveness to VOCs from PCA, ROA, and CGA under laboratory conditions. The VOCs analyses showed that there were significant differences between fungi‐infected apples (ROA, CGA) and control treatments (mechanically damaged apples (MDA), HA) in terms of the relative contents of 13 VOCs. The relative contents of ethyl 2‐methylbutyrate, ethyl caprylate, estragole, ethyl hexanoate in ROA and CGA were higher than those in MDA. The relative content of isopropyl 2‐methylbutyrate in ROA was significantly higher than those in HA and CGA. While, the relative contents of 2‐methylbutyl acetate, butyl 2‐methylbutyrate, hexyl 2‐methylbutyrate, amyl hexanoate, hexyl hexanoate, (E, E)‐α‐farnesene in ROA and CGA were lower than those in HA. The relative content of hexyl acetate in ROA and CGA was significantly higher than that in MDA, but lower than that in HA. Additionally, 10 fungi‐induced VOCs were detected in ROA and/or CGA. When 20 VOCs from ROA and/or CGA were tested as individuals or mixed blends in Y‐tube olfactometer assays, mated YPM females preferred amyl 2‐methylbutyrate, isoamyl 2‐methylbutyrate, isopropyl 2‐methylbutyrate, hexyl propionate (common VOCs in ROA, CGA, and HA), and heptacosane (a fungi‐induced VOC in ROA), but no significant preferences were observed between individual compounds and mixed blends, except for hexyl propionate.ConclusionDifferent fungi infection increased the relative contents of common VOCs from healthy and fungi‐infected apples, which ulatimately resulted in the significant attractiveness for the oviposition of mated YPM females. This study clarified why fungi‐infected apples were more attractive to YPMs than healthy apples and screened out the crucial VOCs for YPM oviposition.This article is protected by copyright. Bu araştırma kaba ve kesif yem oranları farklı rasyonların in vitro gaz üretim parametrelerini karşılaştırmak üzere planlanmıştır. Bu amaçla üç farklı rasyon grubu oluşturulmuştur. Denemenin birinci grubu % 70 kaba % 30 kesif yem (R1), ikinci grubu % 50 kaba % 50 kesif yem (R2) ve üçüncü grubu da % 30 kaba % 70 kesif yemden (R3) oluşturulmuştur. Oluşturulan üç farklı rasyon gruplarında yapılan analizler sonucunda, kuru madde (KM), ham kül (HK), ham protein (HP), ham yağ (HY), nötral deterjanda çözünmeyen lif (NDF), asit deterjanda çözünmeyen lif (ADF), asit çözücülerde çözünmeyen lignin (ADL), rumen protozoa sayısı, rumen pH değeri, in vitro gaz üretimi (GÜ), metan üretim (CH4), karbon dioksit üretimi (CO2), amonyak üretimi (NH3) ve hidrojen sülfür (H2S) üretim miktarları belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen in vitro gaz üretim miktarları ile organik madde sindirilebilirliği (OMS), metabolik enerji (ME) ve net enerji laktasyon (NEL) değerleri hesaplanmıştır. İnkübasyon süresince en yüksek GÜ miktarı R3 grubunda bulunurken, en düşük GÜ miktarı R1 grubunda tespit edilmiştir. R1, R2 ve R3 gruplarının CH4 miktarları sırasıyla, 7.64, 6.89 ve 17.42 ml olarak saptanmış olup gruplar arasındaki farklılıklar istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur (P < 0.01). Rasyonda kesif yem miktarının arttırılmasıyla rumen pH seviyesinde düşme saptanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda yapılan ekonomik analize göre, yıllık toplam maliyeti 1000 başlık bir hayvancılık işletmesinin, yıllık toplam yem maliyetinin 73.11 - 75.85 milyon TL arasında değiştiği hesaplanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, süt sığırlarının beslenmesinde kullanılan rasyonlarında farklı oranlarda kaba ve kesif yem kullanımının in vitro gaz üretiminde farklılıklar oluşturduğu saptanmıştır.

Deinococcus saudiensis YIM F302T was compared with Deinococcus soli N5T to examine the taxonomic relationship between the two type strains. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of D. saudiensis YIM F302T showed high similarity (99.9 %) to that of D. soli N5T. The results of phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the two strains formed a tight cluster within the genus Deinococcus . A draft genomic comparison between the two strains revealed average nucleotide identity values of 96.8–97.9 % and a digital DNA–DNA hybridization estimate of 80.7±1.9 %, strongly indicating that the two strains represented a single species. Based on the combined phylogenetic, genomic and phenotypic characterization presented here, we propose D. saudiensis as a later heterotypic synonym of D. soli N5T.

Araştırma buzağılara probiyotik (EM) ve mannan-oligosakkarit (MOS)’in ayrı ayrı veya birlikte verilmesinin canlı ağırlık artışı (CAA), yem tüketimi (YT), yemden yararlanma (YY) gibi büyüme parametreleri, vücut ölçüleri, hastalık ve yaşama oranı ile buzağı yetiştirme maliyetlerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmada 76 baş (38 baş Holstein ve 38 baş Simmental, 38 adet erkek, 38 adet dişi, 7±3 günlük yaşlı, 38±2 kg CA) buzağı, her grupta 19 buzağı olacak şekilde bir kontrol ve 3 deneme grubu olmak üzere 4 gruba ayrıldı. Deneme grubunda bulunan buzağılara kontrol grubundan farklı olarak 10 ml probiyotik (EM), 5 g mannan-oligosakkarit (MOS) veya 10 ml probiyotik + 5 g mannan-oligosakkarit (EM+MOS) süte katılarak verildi. Çalışma sonunda süt emme döneminde buzağılara probiyotik, mannan-oligosakkarit veya probiyotik + mannan-oligasakkarit verilmesinin canlı ağırlık (CA), canlı ağırlık artışı (CAA), kuru madde tüketimi (KMT), yemden yararlanma (YY), vücut ölçüleri ve hastalık oranı ile ekonomik göstergeleri (toplam maliyet, toplam gelir ve net kar) önemli oranda etkilemediği belirlendi (p>0.05). Sonuç olarak, tercih edilecek alternatif yem katkı maddeleri hem hayvan performansını iyileştirecek hem de işletme ekonomisine katkı sunacak nitelikte olmalıdır.

Çalışmada, farklı illerden (Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Sivas, Tokat ve Yozgat) mayıs ayında hasat edilen madımak (Polygonum cognatum meissn) otlarının kimyasal kompozisyonları, nispi yem değerleri (NYD), in vitro gaz üretimi (GÜ), metabolik enerji (ME) ve organik madde sindirim derecesini (OMSD) saptamak amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Madımak otlarının kimyasal içeriklerinde önemli farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir (P&lt;0.001) İç Anadolu Bölgesinde hasat edilen madımak otlarının ham protein içerikleri (HP) %22.83 -27.98 arasında bulunmuştur. Madımak otlarının nötral deterjan lifi (NDF) ve asit deterjan lifi (ADF) değerleri sırasıyla %37.53 - 41.53 ve %28.64 - 31.21 arasında saptanmıştır. Madımak otlarının nispi yem değerleri (NYD) 144.14 – 165.05, metabolik enerji (ME) 8.18 – 9.37 MJ/kg KM-1 ve organik madde sindirim dereceleri (OMSD) %62.68 - 70.37 arasında bulunmuştur. Kırşehir ilinden hasat edilen madımak otu HP oranı %28.70, Tokat ilinden hasat edilen madımak otunun NDF oranı %37.53, ADF oranı %28,64 ve Kırıkkale ilinden hasat edilen madımak otunun NYD’ i 165,05 bulunmuştur. Gaz üretimleri açısından Kırşehir ili 31.46 ml, metan üretim oranı (CH4) bakımından Kırıkkale ili %13.07 ile öne çıkmıştır. Sonuç olarak farklı illerden hasat edilen madımak otlarının potansiyel bir kaba yem kaynağı olabileceği ve yem tüketim miktarları üzerine etkilerini görmek için in vivo çalışmalara gereksinim olduğu söylenebilmektedir.

Bu calışmada aronya posasının taze ve silolanarak saklanmasının yem değeri üzerine olan etkileri araştırılmıştır. Aronya posası Tekirdağ Bağcılık Araştırma enstitüsünden temin edilmiştir. Taze olarak alınan yaklaşık 50 kg posa laboratuvar ortamına getirilmiş ve 2 muamele (silolanmamış ve silolanmış) grubuna ayrılmıştır. Taze aronya posası açıkta bırakılarak 7 günlük aerobik stabilite testine tabi tutulmuştur. Diğer muamele grubunda aronya posası 30 gün silolanmış ve silolama sonrası 7 günlük aerobik stabilite testine tabi tutulmuştur. Taze ve silolanmış yem örneklerinde aerobik stabilitenin 0., 1., 3., 7. günlerinde kimyasal ve mikrobiyolojik analizler yapılmıştır. Ayrıca in vitro gaz üretim tekniğinin kullanıldığı çalışmada, grupların gaz üretimi (GÜ), metan üretimi (CH4), karbon dioksit üretimi (CO2), amonyak üretimi (NH3) ve hidrojen sülfür üretimi (H2S) belirlenmiştir. İnkübasyonun 24. saatinde elde edilen GÜ miktarları ile organik madde sindirilebilirligi (OMS), metabolik enerji (ME) ve net enerji laktasyon (NEL) degerleri hesaplanmıştır. Rumen sıvısına ilişkin parametreler olarak, protozoa sayısı, pH değerleri ve viskozitesi belirlenmiştir. Aronya posalarında aerobik stabilite süresi arttıkça kuru madde (KM) miktarı artmıştır. Diğer yandan, aronya posasının silolanması ve aerobik stabilite süresi maya değerleri üzerine istatistiksel olarak etki göstermemiştir. Aronya posalarının aerobik stabilite süresi arttıkça pH değeri yükselmiştir. İnkübasyonun 48. saatine kadar en yüksek GÜ miktarı başlangıç materyalinde bulunmuştur. En düşük CH4, CO2, NH3 ve H2S miktarları silolanmış grupta, aerobik stabilitenin 7. gününde belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen analiz sonuçlarına göre, aronya posasının ruminant hayvanların beslenmesi için önemli bir kaba yem kaynağı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Kuru madde miktarının yüksek olması, aronya posasının 7 gün boyunca bozulmadan kalabildiğini göstermiştir. Kuru madde miktarı düşük yemlerin saklanma şekillerinden biri olan silolama, aronya posası için besin madde kayıplarına neden olmuştur.

Societal Impact StatementYam plays an important role in ensuring food security in Côte d'Ivoire, serving as a staple crop for 60% of the population and a significant source of income. It holds deep cultural significance for the Akan and Gour ethnic groups. Preserving yam production is essential for both food security and the preservation of cultural heritage. However, productivity is decreasing while demand is expected to double in the next 30 years. Soil degradation and climate change are major threats to yam production. This article contextualizes the main factors threatening yam production (i.e., soil degradation and climate change) and discusses the consequences and ways to mitigate them.SummaryThe anticipated twofold increase in Côte d'Ivoire's population within the next three decades poses a significant challenge for agricultural research to sustain food security. Despite being an under‐researched and often neglected crop, yam remains the primary staple food and a crucial source of income in the country. With an annual estimated market value of over 2000 billion CFA francs, yam ranks among the top five most economically valuable crops in Côte d'Ivoire. For the past 15 years, yam production has experienced a decline in productivity, which has been compensated for by expanding the cropped area. Unfortunately, this approach exacerbates the risk of deforestation and soil degradation. Additionally, the impact of climate change on yam production, coupled with a lack of financial resources to address it, has rendered this unsustainable mode of production even more precarious. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the effects of climate change on yam production in Côte d'Ivoire. We investigated the reasons for the productivity decline and described the risks on food security. Furthermore, we explained how varietal innovation of Dioscorea alata could play a critical role in mitigating these effects and outlined related research avenues that need to be explored. To help policymakers and research programme directors justify the importance of this agenda, this article presents the main arguments in favour of a substantial investment in adapting yam production to the global changes affecting Côte d'Ivoire.

The world’s growing demand for energy and our concern to preserve the environment have prompted research into alternative sources of energy. Renewable energy from biomass is one such opportunity. The aim of this study is to model the production of biogas from the anaerobic digestion of plantain and yam peelings and cattle dung. A characterisation of these residues showed their good suitability for methanisation with good moisture contents (˃70%), high volatile solids contents (˃75%) and C/N ratios of between 20 and 30. In addition, methanisation trials under mesophilic conditions following a mixing plan generated quantities of biogas ranging from 128 to 565 mL with CH4 contents of between 54.03 and 72.98%. The digester made up of 1/6 plantain peels + 2/3 yam peels + 1/6 cattle dung gave the best biogas yield with 565 mL for 67.52% CH4. The model established from these results is highly significant with an F value (1268.01) having a probability significantly lower than 0.05. In addition to the coefficients R2 (0.9994) and R2 (0.9986) which adjust are very close to unity, there is a good correlation between the experimental results and those predicted. This prediction model is therefore reliable for explaining biogas production. However, further study of the kinetics of anaerobic digestion and biogas treatment remains important.

Çalışmada yer alan bütün buzağıların beslenme programları aynı olup, deneme grubunda bulunan buzağılara kontrol grubundan farklı olarak, EM grubunda buzağı başına günlük 10 ml EM ve KH grubunda 5 gr karahindiba ekstre-si ve EM + KH grubunda ise 10 ml EM ile 5 gr KH süte katılarak oral yolla içirildi. Simental ırkı buzağılara KH, EM veya KH+EM verilmesinin performans parametreleri (CA, CAA, YT, YY), vücut ölçüleri ve rumen UYA (asetik asit, butirik asit, propiyoinik asit) oranını önemli oranda etkilemediği belirlendi. Öte yandan Holstein ırkı buzağılara KH verilmesinin yem tüketimini önemli oranda artırdığı belirlendi. Holstein ırkı buzağılara sütten kesim öncesi dönemde KH verilmesinin yemden yararlanma oranını etkilemediği ancak EM veya KH+EM verilmesinin yemden yararlanma oranını olumsuz etkilediği belirlendi. Holstein ırkı buzağılara sütten kesim öncesi dönemde KH verilmesinin sağrı genişliği ve günlük sağrı genişliği artışını düşürdüğü ancak muamelelerin deneme sonu rumen UYA düzeyleri, cidago yüksekliği, sağrı yüksekliği, vücut ucunluğu, beden derinliği ve göğüs çevresi ile günlük cidago yüksekliği artışı, sağrı yüksekliği artışı, vücut uzunlu artışı, beden derinliği artışı ve göğüs çevresi artışını etkilemediği kaydedildi. Sonuç olarak, ruminantlarda gerek bitki ekstrakları gerek probiyotiklerin ve prebiyotiklerin yem katkısı olarak kullanıldığı çalışma sayısı bu katkıların etkileri konusunda kesin kanaat oluşturmak için oldukça yetersiz olup ruminantlarda çok daha fazla çalışma yapılması-nın gerekli olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Çalışmada farklı yerleşim sıklığında yetiştirilen bıldırcınların rasyonlarına bitkisel ekstrakt katılmasının performans, et kalitesi ve bazı oksidatif stres parametreleri üzerine etkisi incelenmesi amaçlandı. Bu amaçla 585 adet Japon bıldırcın civcivi (Coturnix coturnix japonica) kullanıldı. Denemede 3x2 deneme düzeninde oluşturulmuş olup yerleşim sıklığı (100 cm2/hayvan ve 200 cm2/hayvan ) ve bitkisel ekstrakt karışımının (0, 100 ve 200 mg/kg) etkileri incelendi. 0-14. gün etlik bıldırcın civciv büyütme rasyonu (%24 HP ve 2900 kcal/kg ME) ve 15-35. gün geliştirme rasyonu (%22 HP ve 2900 kcal/kg ME) verildi. (NRC, 1994) Araştırmada performans verileri canlı ağırlık (CA), canlı ağırlık artışı (CAA), yem tüketimi (YT) ve yemden yararlanma oranı (YYO) denemenin 14, 21, 28 ve 35. günlerinde belirlendi. Denemenin 35. gününde kesim işlemi uygulandı (120 adet), sıcak karkas ağırlığı, et kalitesi özellikleri (renk, pH, pişirme kaybı) incelendi. Yerleşim sıklığı ve bitkisel ekstrakt katkısının stres oluşturucu etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amacı ile oksidatif stres parametrelerinden MDA, SOD ve kortikosteron düzeyleri analiz edildi. Çalışmada sonuç olarak yerleşim sıklığının CA, CAA, YT, YYO, pişirme kaybı, kan serumu SOD değeri üzerine etki oluşturduğu saptanırken bitkisel ekstrakt katkısının incelenen parametreler üzerine önemli etkisinin olmadığı belirlendi.

Purpose: Carotid artery properties can be evaluated with high accuracy and reproducibility using multiple M-line ultrasound. However, the cost of multiple M-line-based imaging modalities and the extensive operator expertise requirements hamper the large-scale application for arterial properties assessment, particularly in resource-constrained settings. This study is aimed to assess the performance of a single M-line approach as an affordable and easy-to-use alternative to multiple M-line imaging for screening purposes.Methods: We used triplicate longitudinal common carotid artery (CCA) ultrasound recordings (17 M-lines covering about 16 mm, at 500 frames per second) of 500 subjects from The Maastricht Study to assess the validity and reproducibility of a single against multiple M-line approach. The multiple M-line measures were obtained by averaging over all available 17 lines, whereas the middle M-line was used as a proxy for the single M-line approach.Results: Diameter, intima-media thickness (IMT), and Young's elastic modulus (YEM) were not significantly different between the single and multiple M-line approaches (p &gt; 0.07). Distension and distensibility coefficient (DC) did differ significantly (p &lt; 0.001), however, differences were technically irrelevant. Similarly, Bland-Altman analysis revealed good agreement between the two approaches. The single M-line approach, compared to multiple M-line, exhibited an acceptable reproducibility coefficient of variation (CV) for diameter (2.5 vs. 2.2%), IMT (11.9 vs. 7.9%), distension (10 vs. 9.4%), DC (10.9 vs. 10.2%), and YEM (26.5 vs. 20.5%). Furthermore, in our study population, both methods showed a similar capability to detect age-related differences in arterial stiffness.Conclusion: Single M-line ultrasound appears to be a promising tool to estimate anatomical and functional CCA properties with very acceptable validity and reproducibility. Based on our results, we might infer that image-free, single M-line tools could be suited for screening and for performing population studies in low-resource settings worldwide. Whether the comparison between single and multiple M-line devices will yield similar findings requires further study.

This study evaluated the sensory qualities of infant complementary food based on cooking banana (CB) (Musa sapientum) and African yam bean (AYB) (Sphenostylis stenocarpa). These raw materials were purchased from Nkwoegwu local market in Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State. The legumes were picked and washed, boiled for 25 minutes and dehulled while cooking banana was washed, peeled, washed with warm water and sliced to 2mm thickness. The samples were separated, dried, milled and sifted into fine flour with muslin cloth. The flour was blended to composites in various proportions (80:20 (CAA), 60:40 (CAB)and 40:60 (CAC). Porridges were produced based on the composites. The organoleptic attributes of this food was assessed using 20 mothers, from a mother and child health clinic of Umuahia North Local Government, Abia State. The sensory assessment showed that the formulated porridges had moderate acceptability. This could be because the judges were not familiar with these porridges. The result was compared with “Nutrend” (a complementary food in the market produced by Nestlé Foods Nigeria) and pap (maize traditional complementary food).

Bu araştırmada farklı düzeylerde pamuk tohumu küspesi (PTK) ve %0, 0.1 enzim karışımı içeren diyetlerin, bıldırcınların besi performansına etkisi ve maliyet analizi ortaya konmuştur.1 günlük yaştaki 450 adet erkek ve dişi Japon bıldırcın civcivi (Coturnix coturnix japonica) kullanılmıştır. Bıldırcınlar, 6 muamele grubu ve her grubun 3 tekerrürü olacak şekilde, toplam 18 bölmeye (25 adet/yetiştirme kafesi) dağıtılmıştır. Gruplara; %0, 10, 20 PTK ve %0, 0.1 enzim karışımı içeren diyetler verilmiştir. Araştırma 35 gün sürdürülmüştür. Bıldırcınların canlı ağırlık (CA), canlı ağırlık artışı (CAA), yem tüketimi (YT) ve yemden yararlanma oranı (YYO) değerleri incelenmiştir. Bıldırcınların canlı ağırlık (CA)’larına PTK düzeylerinin etkisi görülmezken, enzim karışımı ilavesinin 21. gün CA üzerine etkisi önemli bulunmuştur (P0.05). Bıldırcın diyetlerine farklı düzeylerde PTK ve enzim uygulaması çalışmasının ekonomik maliyet analizine göre; tane olarak pazarlandığında PTK ve enzim içermeyen diyet grubunda en yüksek kar görülürken, karkas ağırlığı üzerinden pazarlandığında ise PTK içermeyen ve enzim karışımı içeren diyet grubunda en yüksek kar elde edilmiştir. Bıldırcın diyetlerinde %10 PTK kullanımının en uygun düzey olduğu ve enzim karışımı ilavesinin besi performansını olumlu etkilediği ortaya konmuştur. Ancak karkas adet fiyatına göre; en yüksek kazanç PTK ve enzim karışımı içermeyen grupta, en düşük kazanç ise %10 PTK enzim karışımlı grupta görülmüştür. PTK fiyatlarının ucuz veya soya küspesi fiyatlarının yüksek olduğu dönemlerde, bıldırcın rasyonlarında PTK alternatif protein kaynağı olarak kullanılabileceği söylenebilir.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a clinical response happened to patient who is sensitive with inhaled anesthesia drug that could cause suddently death. Many previous studies showed that malignant hyperthermia strongly related to genetic background of patients including RYR1, CACNA1S or STAC3 gene polymorphisms. With the development of high technology such as next generation sequencing, scientists found that 37 to 86 percents of MH cases had RYR1 mutations and approximately 1 percent of those had CACNA1S mutations.
