The anatomy of the clitoris is described in human anatomy textbooks. Some researchers have proposal and divulged a new anatomical terminology for the clitoris. This paper is a revision of the anatomical terms proposed by Helen O'Connell, Emmanuele Jannini, and Odile Buisson. Gynecologists, sexual medicine experts, and sexologists should spread certainties for all women, not hypotheses or personal opinions, they should use scientific terminology: clitoral/vaginal/uterine orgasm, G/A/C/U spot orgasm, and female ejaculation, are terms that should not be used by sexologists, women, and mass media. Clitoral bulbs, clitoral or clitoris-urethrovaginal complex, urethrovaginal space, periurethral glans, Halban's fascia erogenous zone, vaginal anterior fornix erogenous zone, genitosensory component of the vagus nerve, and G-spot, are terms used by some sexologists, but they are not accepted or shared by experts in human anatomy. Sexologists should define have sex, make love, the situation in which the orgasm happens in both partners with or without a vaginal intercourse.

The aim of this study is to describe and understand experiences related to social support for women with fibromyalgia who suffer from sexual dysfunction. An interpretive qualitative research methodology based on Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics was used. Data collection included a focus group and in-depth interviews with 13 women who averaged 44.8 years of age and 14.3 years since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Data were analyzed using Fleming’s method and two themes were identified: “searching for understanding in socio-family support” and “lack of formal support regarding fibromyalgia patient’s sexuality.” The partner constitutes the main support for women with fibromyalgia. Although they can find understanding and social support in patient associations, they lack formal support from health care professionals. Women demand trusted and expert professionals, like sexologists and nurses, to carry out a multidisciplinary approach to tackle sexual dysfunction associated with fibromyalgia.

The study aims to identify factors which contribute to the prevalence of alcoholism and drug addiction among sexually abused women in an ultra-conservative society. A qualitative research design is used in conjunction with interviews from women and physicians, categories which included both psychiatrists and sexologists, across six districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The phenomena of drug addiction and alcoholism were more pronounced in victims working for the commercial sex sector. The findings suggest Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD) as a driving factor of alcoholism and drug abuse, which in turn cascades into secondary and tertiary levels of trauma. Sexual victimization and re-victimization, familial rejection, stigmatisation and social degradation were contributing factors to relentless stress. Drugs in vogue among victims were Valium-two (Diazepam) and Lexotanil that contained Bromazepam. Hashish and alcohol were consumed sparingly by victims, while the use of cocaine and heroin was absent due to severe masculine perceptions and addiction. The study contributes to a better understanding of a socially-excluded, economically-disadvantaged and stigmatised group by taking a pro-feminist stance to advocate for the rights of victims.

During the previous decade (2012–2021), in Ukraine, political pressure from the European Union combined with the efforts of the local civil society resulted in the adoption of legislation to prevent and eliminate discrimination, protect women from domestic violence, and promote LGBT people’s rights. Nevertheless, these changes were met by the opposition from various conservative and religious groups that have, over time, become more sophisticated in their resistance strategies. The present article applies the concept of heteroactivism to examine the role of women within such groups in Ukraine. It argues that Ukrainian heteroactivism is a product of the “clash of values” largely influenced by the geopolitical position of Ukraine and its historical and cultural context. Studying the cases of the Sisterhood of St. Olga, the Association of Sexologists and Sexual Therapists of Ukraine (ASSU), and several prominent scholarly figures, the article identifies the mobilization frames these activists use, specifically, Women as Wives and Mothers, Protection of Family and Minors, and Religion (heteroactivism as martyrdom). This study shows that in attempts to influence national policymaking, Ukrainian women heteroactivists set rigid standards of “proper” Ukrainian femininity and the role of women (that of a mother and wife staying outside of politics) within a “proper” Ukrainian family, which must be heterosexual, Christian, and monogamous.

This article describes how men are presented in pornographic materials available on one of the most popular thematic websites — PornHub.com. The article contains a disambiguation of the term ‘pornography’, and discusses the reach of the pornographic market, as well as the audience and specifics of PornHub. The main part contains an empirical study of fifteen movie productions divided into three categories: heterosexual, homosexual, and for women. The article presents both the physical description of what is happening in the film and the analysis of the gender roles of the depicted characters. All selected films were made in 2018 or later. Pornography research is an extremely broad field, which is looked into by many professions: sexologists, film experts, sociologists, psychologists and even feminist activists. Some findings were recalled at work, but this is only an outline of the matter.

This article examines the assimilation of sexology and sexual reform in the Yishuv of the 1930s. Prominent German sexologists visited Palestine, texts they authored were translated to Hebrew and Yiddish, and members of the Yishuv community traveled to central Europe to learn sexual-reform ideas. In 1931 and 1932, three consultation centers were opened in Tel Aviv, accompanied by Q&A columns in the general and medical press. In these centers and columns, men and women consulted medical doctors on contraception, impotence, abortions, and the everyday of heterosexual life. This short-lived experience was inspired by similar European experiences, especially in Weimar Germany and Bolshevik Russia. The 1930s discourse on sexuality was sometimes compatible with mainstream Zionist ideology and sometimes at odds with it. It came to an end during the last years of the decade, following the Arab Revolt, the Holocaust, and the demographic struggle over Palestine.

Introduction and Purpose: Dyspareunia is a sexual disorder associated with pain in women. It refers to pain related to sexual intercourse. Pain can occur during penetration attempts, during penetration, during intercourse, and shortly after penetration. Studies conducted in the United States indicate that the problem of pain during intercourse affects as much as 10-20% of women. [1] In Poland, this number is estimated to be around 13%.[1] The aim of this review is to delve into the existing literature on the diagnosis of dyspareunia in women and to raise awareness of its extensive nature, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. A Brief Description of the State of Knowledge: The etiology of dyspareunia is multifactorial and may arise from pathological changes in the vulva and vagina, inflammatory changes, contact irritations, as well as vulvar conditions such as lichen sclerosus and flat. [3] Additionally, hormonal changes, pelvic floor injuries, postpartum gynecological procedures also play a significant role. Psychological factors such as trauma, anxiety, and depression are also important [4]. Conclusions: Dyspareunia is a condition that significantly affects the quality of life of women in various ways, thus necessitating effective therapeutic approaches. Collaboration among diverse specialists such as gynecologists, sexologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists is crucial. Further research focusing on multimodal strategies is needed to effectively tailor treatments and mitigate the systemic effects of chronic pain.

Abstract In the wake of the “sexual revolution” of the 1960s and 1970s, a new American consensus emerged both that women’s sexual lives remained important past their youth and that women’s sexual pleasure generally increased into middle age. Challenging the idea that older people were (or ought to be) asexual, mainstream pundits suggested ways to retain or even improve one’s sexual vitality into middle age and beyond, and argued that sex itself was both physically and emotionally rejuvenating. New attitudes toward middle-aged women’s sexuality did not entirely supplant a more traditional body project whose focus was physical maintenance, the appearance of youthfulness, and a nostalgic return to the “true” (that is, younger) self. Yet by the 1970s, increasing numbers of middle-aged women began to consider sexual renewal as an avenue for personal and relational growth, sparked by unexpected shifts in midlife, the mainstreaming of feminist critiques of ageism, and a new ethos of self-actualization. The redefinition of sexuality as a lifelong journey enabled middle-aged women to reconsider their intimate relationships and their bodies, rethink their assumptions about age and sexual desirability, and examine their current levels of sexual satisfaction. By defying the notion that aging was inherently shameful and desexualizing for women, sexologists and feminists of the late 1960s and 1970s offered a significant challenge to the “sexual clock” and helped to redefine middle age as a time of continued growth.

IVIX Ltd is developing a new proprietary non-hormonal drug BP101, aiming to restore sexual arousal and desire in women suffering from its loss. This Drug is based on a small peptide. In preclinical studies it showed capability to enhance proceptive behaviour in female rodents. BP101 seems to act on brain as it shows its effect on rodents during micro-deliveries to certain areas of brain. At preclinical as well as at Phase 1 clinical studies BP101 demonstrated excellent safety profile. Only few mild adverse effects were observed during the Phase 1clinical study. These adverse effects showed no correlation with BP101 dose. No special safety concern was identified. We have evaluated effect of BP101 on female sexual function during Phase 1 study using questionnaires FSFI, ASEX and FSF (Russian). We have observed up to 40% increase in total FSFI Score comparing to baseline in the cohort receiving the highest dose. There was 52% increase in Desire FSFI Domain Score compared to baseline in that cohort. Therefore BP101 shows to be a potential treatment of HSDD and in a few years may be available to sexologists and patients.

In 1920 in France, a law was passed prohibiting abortion, the sale of contraceptives and ‘anti-conception propaganda’. While contraception was legalised in 1967 and abortion in 1975, ‘anti-natalist propaganda’ remained forbidden. This article takes seriously the aim of the French state to prevent the circulation of information for demographic reasons. Drawing from government archives, social movement archives and media coverage, the article focuses on the way the propaganda ban contributed to shaping the public debate on contraception as well as lastingly impacting the ability of the state to communicate on the subject. It first shows how birth control activists challenged the legal interdiction against communicating about contraception (1956–67) without questioning the natalist obligation. It then shows how, after 1968, communication on contraception became a power struggle carried out by various actors (sexologists and feminist and leftist activists) and how the dissemination of information about contraception was thought of as a way to challenge moral and social values. Finally, the article describes the change of state communication policies in the mid-1970s, leading to the first national campaign on contraception launched in 1981, which defined information as a task that women should take on.

How and when did society first recognize women's homoerotic bonds? Were these romantic friendships fully accepted, or were they seen as problematic? Did the women involved see themselves as lesbians? These and other questions have been raised over the past twenty years by historians of lesbian sexuality. When Lillian Faderman in her pioneering survey of European and American lesbians declared the nineteenth century as the golden age of unproblematic romantic friendships, historians quickly responded with evidence to the contrary. Much of this debate has been focused on whether or not women could be considered “lesbian” before they claimed (or had forced on them) a publicly acknowledged identity. But the modern lesbian did not appear one day fully formed in the case studies of the fin-de-siècle sexologists; rather she was already a recognizable, if shadowy, subject for gossip among the sophisticated by at least the 1840s and 1850s. By examining closely a single divorce trial, I hope to show that literary and legal elites acknowledged lesbian sexuality in a variety of complex ways. Their uneasy disapproval encompassed both a self-conscious silence in the face of evidence and a desire to control information, lest it corrupt the innocent. Yet who can define the line between the ignorant and the informed? The very public discussion of the Codrington divorce, and most especially the role of the feminist, Emily Faithfull, in alienating Helen Codrington's affections from her husband, demonstrate the recognition of female homosexual behavior.

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition, which is distinguished by the presence of the endometrial-like glands and stroma outside the uterine cavity. Pain and infertility are the most commonly expressed symptoms, occurring in 60% and 40% of cases, respectively. Women with endometriosis, especially those with pelvic pain, also have a greater vulnerability to several psychiatric disorders. There is, in particular, a tendency to contract affective or anxiety disorders as well as panic-agoraphobic and substance use disorders. Endometriosis with pelvic pain, infertility and psychic vulnerability usually leads to disability and a markedly lower quality of life for women of reproductive age. Thus, the burden of endometriosis is not limited to the symptoms and dysfunctions of the disease; it extends to the social, working and emotional spheres, leading to a severe impairment of global functioning. An analysis of scientific literature revealed a close relationship between specific temperamental traits, the expression of several psychiatric symptoms, chronicity of pain, risk of substance use and lower probability of a positive outcome. Endometriosis symptoms and the impact of related psychological consequences, increased vulnerability and the possible onset of psychiatric symptoms may influence coping strategies and weaken resilience, so triggering a vicious cycle leading to a marked deterioration in the quality of life. A multidisciplinary approach consisting of a medical team composed of gynecologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, experts in Dual Disorder, algologists and sexologists, would guarantee the setting of a target and taking the best decision on a personalized treatment plan. That approach would allow the prompt detection of any psychopathological symptoms and improve the endometriosis-related physical symptoms, bringing a healthier quality of life and a greater likelihood of a positive outcome.

IntroductionTo explore the referral diagnosis of sexual dysfunction from a psychosexual basis.MethodsA retrospective analysis of 50 women who were referred to a clinical sexologist for varying aspects of sexual dysfunction during January 2016 – December 2016.ResultsAlthough 100% of women exhibited a variety of sexual dysfunction, 44% displayed variables of sexual abstinence due to real and perceived problems that directly impacted on their ability to participate in sexual intimacy. Factors not explored or discussed by the referring Health Care Professional (HCP) included urinary incontinence, religious/spiritual beliefs, perception of guilt relating to previous sexual behaviours and ill health of the partner.DiscussionSexual Dysfunction referrals encompass a broad range of issues. These fall into sub-categories being further classified as primary and secondary. It is identified that a reasonable proportion is still incorrectly identified by the HCP, missing the underlying true reason for sexual abstinence. The ability to ask/frame questions within the assessment is significant to unlocking the contributing or causal problem. Incorporating specific questions assists in decreasing/removing any sense of guilt the woman may have around this.

The literature review is dedicated to the topical subject in current endocrinology and gynecology – clitoromegaly. At present, clitoromegaly is considered as a symptom of an endocrinological disease associated with impaired testosterone or androgen production. However, in most cases, the cause of the disease cannot be determined. A condition described in the clitoromegaly classification as an "idiopathic clitoromegaly" holds a leading place. Despite an opportunity to perform a successful clitoroplasty in childhood, adult patients with clitoromegaly quite often seek specialists` help. Such girls and women often suffer from anxietydepressive disorders related to social maladjustment associated due to sexological and psychological problems, which requires a sexologist or psychotherapist` supervision and treatment. Here, we provide the data on genetic syndromes accompanied by clitoromegaly. Differential diagnostics algorithms for neonates, young and adult women are proposed.

IntroductionAs the incidence of depression, both in Poland and the world, has increased in recent years, it seems important to consider it in a wider context, including its comorbidities.AimsThe aim of the study was to assess anxiety, sexual functioning and pain disorders in women with depression.MethodsThe study encompassed 41 women, aged 18 - 65 years old, of whom 21 were assigned into the study group and 20 into the control group. The research was based on a two-part questionnaire. The first, general part involved socio-demographic data, basic patient history and sexuality-related questions. The other part was based on standardized tests, such as Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), McGill Pain Questionnaire - short form (SF-MPQ), Beliefs About Pain Control Questionnaire (BPCQ) and Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI).ResultsThe two groups were homogenous with regard to mean age, age at menarche and the BMI. The study group had significantly lower FSFI results than the control group, which implies greater severity of sexual disorders. Moreover, a significant positive correlation between depressive disorders (BDI) and pain disorders (McGill scale) was observed in the study group.ConclusionsTaking into consideration the multitude and severity of sexual functioning disorders and pain disorders in women with depression, careful diagnosis should be attempted in all cases. The participation of a sexologist and doctors of other specialties in both diagnosis and therapy should be considered.

(1) Background: Disorders of sexual life negatively impact self-esteem and social relationships. This problem affects patients after gynecological surgery. Providing access to specialist sexologist care constitutes an important aspect of support for this patient group. (2) Objective: The aim of the study was to assess the sexual life of women depending on the time since surgery, extent of gynecological surgery and postoperative chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. (3) Methods: The study included 136 patients from gynecological outpatient clinics in Szczecin, Poland. The women answered questions from a special three-part questionnaire. Participation was anonymous and voluntary. The data obtained in the survey were subject to statistical analysis. (4) Results: Among patients with a sparing of the cervix, most have never or almost never experienced discomfort or pain during intercourse, and believe that the quality of their sex life has not deteriorated after surgery. It was found that cervical removal, despite the existence of other conditions, increases the chance of pain during sexual activity 11 times. We found that the removal of adnexa did not increase the risk of changing sexual activity. In patients who had not undergone postoperative chemo- and/or radiotherapy, sexual activity did not change after surgery, and they never or almost never experienced discomfort or pain during intercourse. On the other hand, it was shown, despite the smaller study group, that patients treated with postoperative chemo- and/or radiotherapy did not initiate sexual intercourse. (5) Conclusion: The more extended the gynecological surgery of the uterus, the greater the limitation of sexual life.

Background: Sexual dysfunctions are disorders related to the physiology of sexual responses. Aim of the study: Our study aimed to assess the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions in women in their early and middle adulthood. Material and methods: The early adulthood group consisted of 125 women aged 20–30, and out of these 100 questionnaires qualified for the final analysis. The middle adulthood group consisted of 275 women aged 45–55 in which 200 complete questionnaires were analyzed. The study was conducted in 2016 using a diagnostic survey method and the author's own survey questionnaire, the Mell-Krat Scale for Women and the Female Sexual Function Index (PL-FSFI). Results: Only 38.0% of respondents from the early adulthood group and 25.0% from the middle-adult group interviewed with a gynecologist about their sex life, possible disorders, and problems. Additionally, only 1.0% of women in the middle adulthood group benefited from the advice of a sexologist. According to the interpretation of the Mell-Krat scale, 41.0% of respondents in the early adulthood group and 76.0% of women in the middle adulthood group had a suboptimal score. These results indicate the possibility of sexual response disorders. All women in the early adulthood group and middle adulthood group scored below normal on the PL-FSFI scale indicating that the respondents are at risk for sexual disorders. Conclusions: According to the PL-FSFI scale, all women in the study may be at risk of sexual disorders. According to the Mell-Krat scale, as many as ¾ of women might suffer from sexual response disorders or are at risk of sexual disorders. Taking into account the significance of a sex life, it is necessary to take action to provide women with professional medical and psychological help to improve their intimacy sphere of life.

Background. Genital/pelvic pain penetration disorder (GPPPD) decreased mental and physical functioning, reduced quality of life, and reduced feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness, all of which impair the ability of women with GPPPD to enjoy sex. This qualitative study was conducted to identify which factors can reduce sexual stress and help Iranian women cope with GPPPD. Methods. This qualitative study was conducted through the participation of 18 women with GPPPD diagnosed by a sexologist and using DSM-IV diagnostic criteria from March to July 2022, Iran. The samples were selected using the purposive sampling method and considering the maximum variation. The semistructured question guide was used as a data collection tool and data collection continued until data saturation was reached. The collected data were analyzed using conventional content analysis approach. Results. Data analysis led to the emergence of three main themes: “problem-focused coping” which included the three categories of received social support, problem self-control, and penetration replacement; “emotion-focused coping” which included three categories: a couple’s negative reaction to the problem, attachment disorder, and surrendering the problem; and “treatment-seeking” which consisted of searching and choosing a therapist to solve the problem, ineffective medical approaches, and ineffective nonmedical approaches. Conclusion. Coping strategies in women with GPPPD were classified as “problem-focused coping,” “emotion-focused coping,” and “treatment-seeking.” These findings indicate a need for GPPPD information and education, as well as a need for healthcare professionals to actively inquire about sexual problems and commit to serious treatment efforts. Cultural interventions that promote sexual pleasure can aid in the management of GPPPD.

Background: Domestic violence against women is defined as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, that women experience. During the COVID-19 quarantine, homes have become very dangerous places for domestic violence against women. Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, Medline, Scopus, Embase, Google scholar, and web of science were searched. Two independent authors screened all identified titles, abstracts, and relevant full texts for inclusion in the systematic review. 7 primary studies that were published between December 2019 and March 2021 were examined. The risk of bias in the retrieved articles was assessed by the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. Results: : During the COVID-19 lockdown, people have experienced different situations that lead to increasing aggressive behavior with possible trauma and violence, especially against women. Conclusion: During the quarantine of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, we need programs aimed at preventing acts of domestic violence against women, such as trained multi-disciplinary staff, including psychologists, sexologists, and clinical psychiatrists.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, in the context of holistic care for women, the cooperation of a gynecologist with a family doctor is particularly important. Deterioration of health, including sexual health, is observed, which may have a potentially long-term negative multidimensional impact on the functioning of women, secondary cycle disorders, also dermatological or dermatological problems. In addition, many women face additional burdens during a pandemic, such as supervising their children while studying at home and working remotely at the same time. During a pandemic, the practice of a family doctor and gynecologist is observed in female sexual dysfunction, depressive symptoms and fear. Prolonged blockage greatly increases women’s sense of loneliness. It is important for physicians to pay special attention to such problems as family physicians, gynecologists, sexologists and mental health counselors, as well as violent and abusive partnerships. Any action aimed at developing preventive and intervention measures to mitigate any negative effects of a pandemic is important.

Abstract Introduction Sexual emergencies in female patients are more common than people think. They represent medical curiosities more than pathologies for which we should be prepared to treat. This review and the presentation of our cases shows how extensive and important is this area in the medical practice and why every single physician should be prepared to confront them. Gynecologist, surgeons, sexologists, and ER physicians are familiarized with some of the sexual emergencies in women that called the attention of the medical community. However, the broad spectrum of those disorders is not well-known. Objective 1. Show the magnitude of sexual emergencies in women nationally and internationally. 2. Describe how they can vary according with the place, culture, and societies. 3. To learn the methods of diagnosis and treatment of these ample variety of conditions. Methods Based on the multiple cases seen in the ER of our facility, an extensive review of the literature was done, and the cases are presented to show the magnitude, variety, and diversity of cases in the different areas of the medical field. Results The review includes: I. The common coital emergencies in neurology (benign coital headache, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral bleeding, subdural hemorrhage, cerebral vascular accidents), urology (ureterovesical foreign bodies, obstructive uropathies), cardiology (sudden cardiac death, myocardial infarction), gynecology (vaginal lacerations and/or evisceration and death with/without previous gynecological surgeries), obstetrical (postpartum dyspareunia secondary or not to episiotomy or vaginal lacerations; postcoital preterm labor), immunological (local or systemic, anaphylactic allergic reactions). II. Common autoerotic emergencies in gastroenterology (foreign objects in rectum, vagina, oropharyngeal/mandibular lesions), as well as “body packers” cases (swallowed latex balloons for smuggling in the GI tract, rectum, or vagina). III. Sexual assault IV. Sexual dysfunction: Hyperactive arousal disorders (compulsive hunt for orgasms with/without attempt or real suicide, hypersexuality related to SSRI use). V. Sociosexual issues: Killings for jealousy during sex, infidelity, castration like Lorena Bobbitt case. Conclusions The epidemiology of these pathologies varies from country to country, and state to state, and includes women of any age, race, religion, and culture. With the emergence of the thriving literary public sphere around the close of the 19th century across colonial India, the issue of birth control was being debated in various magazines by economists, sexologists, doctors and members of women’s organizations. The discussions on reproductive rights of women and dissemination of contraceptive information published in various vernacular periodicals can be situated within a network of other contemporary discourses on “economizing reproduction” that were gaining visibility around this time. The present paper would like to explore the perceptions of women’s reproductive body at the beginning of the 20th century that were being forged through coalescing narratives on bourgeois norms of obscenity (aslilata?), biopolitical concerns of an emerging nation state in the last throes of anti-colonial struggle, and various takes on (heteronormative) interpersonal relationships between future citizens. It is within this specific context that I would like to examine articles on birth control published during the early 1930s in the ‘self-styled’ Bengali women’s magazine Jayasree? launched by revolutionary leader Leela Nag. By situating the opinions voiced by the men and women writing in the pages of this literary periodical vis-à-vis contemporary intellectual trends of birth control movement in India, this paper seeks to study the interactive textual ecosystem within which the writers and readers (the implied future authors) of Jayasree? were functioning.

As a result, the personal life of an affected individual may be negatively impacted, with the consequences of distress, bother, frustrations, and/or avoidance of sexual intimacy. However, there are multiple factors to consider and not all sexologists, psychologists, and therapists agree about a clear and complete definition of PE. This, in turn, makes it more difficult to have clear statistics of the incidence, prevalence, and frequency of this disorder. On the other hand, Female Orgasmic Disorder (FOD) is defined as difficulty, delay, or inability for a woman to reach orgasm in a sexual encounter or the reduced frequency and/or intensity of orgasm. While PE and FOD are usually described separately in the medical literature, we have found in both the sexological literature and in practice that women with FOD are frequently the partners of men with PE. Objective The objective of this review is to address the increased incidence of FOD secondary to PE in the South Florida Latin-American population, its impact in the sexual function of both male and female partners in their relationship, and the possible reasons for the difference between the Latin-American community and the General population of the United States of America. Methods This is a retrospective review of the sexological literature and the statistics we have collected from patients over the last 20 years, in which around 80% of cases of women with FOD are due to PE in their partner. Results Nationally speaking, the frequency of FOD secondary to PE has been reported to generally run between 35-50% in reproductive aged women. Throughout the years we have noticed that this frequency is markedly higher in the Latin-American population of South Florida, reaching 79.6% of cases. Conclusions We do not have a clear explanation for this important difference between the General population of the United States and the Latin-American population of South Florida, but we know that the Latin-American population in this area is exposed to a great number of stressors. One such set of stressors that may be a contributing to the increased incidence is known as the “Immigrant’s Syndrome,” a set of circumstances which includes sexual dysfunction as one of its components. Abstract Introduction Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) use has recently been a topic of debate amongst clinicians. The discussion has been most prevalent in the fields of gynecology, urology, and endocrinology. Current research suggests HRT can prevent the development of lethal diseases such as myocardial infarction, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Objective To raise awareness of HRT as a prophylactic measure to treat a variety of diseases in multiple organ systems, we recommend providing this information across multiple medical specialties to warrant the use of HRT amongst patients. Specialists including obstetricians and gynecologists, urologists, cardiologists, neurologists, dermatologists, psychiatrists, ophthalmologists, orthopedics, wound care specialists, sexologists, sex therapists, psychologists, rheumatologists, immunologists, infectious disease specialists, cosmetic surgeons, endocrinologists, and geriatricians should be aware of the benefits of HRT and how they can incorporate it into patient care. Methods Based on our own experience, for more than 40 years and the continued management of postmenopausal women, we have realized the importance that physicians, in specialties other than obstetrics and gynecology must be aware of the use of this therapy in their specific field. For example, approximately 60% of depression diagnoses in perimenopausal years can be treated with greater efficacy with hormone replacement therapy rather than antidepressants prescribed by psychiatrists. These findings have been confirmed in the current literature, however awareness amongst the various specialties is very poor. Results HRT plays a significant role in treating silent killers such as myocardial infarction, osteoporosis, diabetes mellitus, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Genitourinary syndrome of menopause. Conclusions Previously, the role of HRT was not clearly established. Current data suggests HRT provides many benefits including a reduction in mortality. Through recent research and published literature, the consensus of the benefits and strategies of HRT have been established. However, the use of HRT is currently under-prescribed. While PE and Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) are usually described separately in the medical literature, we have found in both the sexological literature and in practice that women with FOD and FSD are frequently the partners of men with PE. Nationally speaking, the general frequency with which FOD secondary to PE of the partner during women’s reproductive years has been reported to run between 35-50%. Objective We report the very high incidence of FSD secondary to male sexual dysfunction (MSD) of their partners that is found in our area, mainly in the Latino-American population, and to analyze the possible reasons for this high incidence. Methods Review of more than 5,000 charts. Looking for FSD with male partners with MSD. Results Of the total number of women that reported FSD, around 48% reported it with Premature Ejaculation happening after one minute or less. For PE under 3 minutes, the percentage increased to 66.3%, and under 5 minutes to 79.6%. It is important to keep in mind that a woman may have FOD, with her partner ejaculating too quickly for her to achieve orgasm, while her partner does not meet the criteria for PE. If the male partner took longer than 1 minute to ejaculate, this would not be defined as PE as per the ISSM definition. This was present in more than 40% of cases. In 22 years of medical practice and sexual therapy, the number of couples that have attended to our centers for the treatment of PE has been less than 10. Curiously, while the problem affects a very large number of our couples, it is not considered a situation deserving of treatment, especially by the male partners. Conclusions We report a high incidence of Female Orgasmic Disorder never reported before, which is secondary to MSD of the partner. We discussed the complexity of the definition and the need to keep in account the average time that the average woman needs for arousal and orgasm and not only the time for men to ejaculate as the only indicator of PE. We want to emphasize the fact that a very large proportion of men with this condition take an attitude of denial, while their respective female partners have a passive and tolerant response, to the detriment of the relationship and secondary hypoactive sexual desire disorder. Abstract Background Since December 2019, when it was first reported in Wuhan, province of Hubei, China, the new virus SARS-CoV-2 has spread rapidly around the world and has become a global pandemic. During the COVID-19 pandemic, due to the public health measures implemented, people’s sexual activity has also been affected. Restrictions on people’s activities, reduced sports activities, economic issues, increased psychological stress, and reduced entertainment have, indeed, dramatically impacted sexual activity and functioning. The purpose of this study was tosystematically identify, collect and summarize the existing body of evidence from published studies on the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on sexual activity and functioning. Methods Several scholarly databases, namely MEDLINE (via PubMed interface), Web of Science (WOS), Embase, CINAHL, the Cochrane Library, Scopus, and PsycINFO databases, were mined from December 2019 to the end of January 2021. We utilized a random-effect meta-analytical model to analyze all the data. More in detail, the Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) was used in order to estimate and evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on sexual activity and functioning. Results Twenty-one studies were included in the present study. In total, 2454 women and 3765 men were evaluated. In the present meta-analysis, sexual functioning and activity were assessed by means of two standardized and reliable tools, namely the “Female Sexual Function Index” (FSFI) and the “International Index of Erectile Function-5 items” (IIEF-5). A total of 5 studies reported the FSFI score before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in female participants. Based on the random-effect model, the SMD was computed to be − 4.26 [95% confidence interval or CI: − 7.26, − 1.25], being statistically significant. A total of 3 studies reported the IIEF-5 score before and after the COVID-19 pandemic in male participants. Based on the random-effect model, the SMD was computed to be − 0.66 [CI 95%: − 0.99, − 0.33], being statistically significant. In the majority of these studies, participants reported a reduction in the number of sexual relations and an increase in the frequency of solo sex activity, especially masturbation, compared to the time prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion The results of the present study showed that COVID-19 related restrictions were correlated with higher rates of sexual dysfunction and reduced sexual activity; however, results of the current meta-analytical study show that this change in sexual functioning was greater in women compared to men. Sex is one of the dimensions of every person’s life; therefore, researchers should identify the factors that lead to sexual dysfunction due to COVID-19 pandemic in their community. Orgasm disorder in women has become an increasingly common reason to consult a doctor, psychotherapist, but especially a sexologist. In this paper we will try to define the concept of anorgasmia, but first we should clarify the terminology. In women, anorgasmia can be caused by various physical and psychological factors that influence the pelvic floor area, having certain associations with other symptoms of sexual dysfunction, such as vulvodynia, dyspareunia, and loss of sexual desire or libido. We will address female orgasm disorder by integrating some elements of psychosexual history and its characteristics. We shall explain the onset, manifestation of this disorder, the causes, the clinical approach, the treatment, and we shall explore the physiological and psychological factors involved in this female orgasm disorder.

Abstract Background Genital warts, besides their importance as symptoms of sexually transmitted infections, can also threaten the sexual health of couples. The purpose of this study was to explore the sexual compatibility in women with active genital warts. Methods A qualitative study with a conventional content analysis approach in Tehran, Iran, from January 2019 to February 2020 was conducted on a purposeful sample of data saturation achieved after interviewing 14 women with genital warts, 2 couples and 3 dermatologists, 1 sexologist and 1 infectious disease specialist. Data were collected through unstructured interviews and analyzed using conventional content analysis approach. Results After data analysis 224 initial codes, 5 main categories “change in the frequency of sexual activity”, “changing types of sexual intercourse”, “protected sexual intercourse”, “concealment of lesions”, “focusing on personal hygiene by couples after sexual activity” and finally a central theme of “adaptation to challenges of sexual intercourse” were extracted. Conclusions This study revealed the perceptions and experiences of women with active genital warts about the process of their sexual adaptation. The main concepts found in this study focus on challenges related to sexual intercourse. It seems that recognizing women’s sexual adaptation challenges after getting genital warts may help them take effective and practical measures to improve their sexual compatibility and health.

Abstract Objectives Vaginismus is defined as a recurrent or persistent involuntary spasm of the musculature of the outer third of the vagina, as well as the pain and fear that interferes with vaginal penetration, which causes personal distress. It is remarkable that reflexive involuntary contraction of the pelvic muscles as well as thigh adduction, contraction of the abdominal muscles, and muscles in the back and limbs, associated with varying degrees of fear of pain and of the unknown, typically precludes full entry, not only of a male genital organ but tampon, speculum, or finger. The purpose of our research is to determine the characteristics of the socio-cultural clinical course of the treatment of female genital-pelvic pain/penetration disorder- vaginismus and to reveal the results of the treatment. Methods Our study is prospective, we will observe 150 Georgian women with vaginismus. Patients will be consulted by a sexologist and gynecologist. They will fill out a psychometric questionnaire. Treatment includes three stages: I- conservative therapy; II- sex therapy training; III – woman will have sex therapy (in vivo) with her partner to prepare for successful sexual intercourse and set the exist date of the first penetration. Results Through our research, we will see if there is a connection between traditions, the type of family education and the development of vaginismus, treatment methods and it’s results. Conclusions Our study will help doctors to understand vaginismus and it’s treatment, to make differential diagnosis between vaginismus and dyspareunia. Abstract Background Globally 1 in 7 people experience some type of disability. In Latin America, as in other regions, there are programs focused on the protection of sexual and reproductive rights of this population group. However, to date, in Peru there are no programs, protocols or guidelines that include a specialist (sexologist or trained health professional) in the health system to improve the quality of life and well-being of this population. Therefore, the objective of this article is to qualitatively analyze the experience of sexuality in people with acquired motor disabilities. Methods We used the interpretative phenomenological approach and the semi-structured in-depth interview composed of 60 questions, which was applied to 7 people (4 women and 3 men) with acquired motor disabilities. Results Diversity in the experience of sexuality was observed. While some experience it without fear, others have annulled their sexual encounters, because in addition to physical limitations, they experience psychosocial limitations such as pain, functional alterations, depression, low self-esteem, discrimination, exclusion, stigmas and socio-environmental barriers, among others. Likewise, the study reflected the double discrimination suffered by women (for being a woman and having a disability), as well as the lack of education, counseling or sex therapy by specialized professionals, and the influence of religion, society and culture as factors that condition and limit their sexuality. This reflects the current situation in Peru and other countries in the region, where the sexuality of people with disabilities continues to be a complex and ambiguous issue. Conclusions It is concluded that for some participants it is possible to experience sexuality without fear, while others hold back their experiences for reasons other than physical, self-esteem, social discrimination, among others. The review of the profile and level of specialization of the health services professionals involved in the integral medical care of people with disabilities and their couples is required because of their need for adequate and specialized attention for their better adaptation to the new condition.

Abstract Objectives Syphilis bears the image of a great sexually transmitted disease. Sexual health of the infected person may be affected. Yet, no study explored this aspect. The aim of the present research is to investigate the sexological impact of syphilis in order to improve our knowledge on this aspect, and consequently, to improve the quality of care for our patients and messages on prevention. Methods 43 patients, with confirmed syphilis were recruited at the venerology consultation of University Hospital of Geneva. They had to participate in a two-step experiment. First, they had to fill in questionnaires concerning their sexual function. Participants were then invited to discuss with the psycho-sexologist during a semi structured interview, to collect detailed qualitative data on the way they experienced their infection sexologically. The study was accepted in the local ethical committee. Results All the patients full filled the questionnaires. 8 women and 35 men, aged from 20 to 57 (39.12±10.56) were included. 13/43 were co-infected with HIV. The results showed that 25/43 (58.1 %) of the patients reported a negative impact of syphilis on sexual life: blockage feeling for a new sexual intercourse, lack of sexual desire, loss of confidence in the actual and or future sexual partners. We also noted changes in sexual practices for 20/43 (46.51%) of the patients, with safer sex or abstinence, but all these changes only lasted for the duration of the treatment. However, results revealed that only 7/43 of the patients (16.3%) reported a short-term impact of syphilis on mental health, and especially feeling of anxiety, limited to the announcement of the diagnosis. Conclusions Because there is a short term impact of syphilis on the sexual sphere of the patients, offering an urgent sexological counselling during the early treatment phase will allow better resilience of people encountering sexual difficulties.
