Abstract (sommario):

The objective of this study was to analyze the visual communication of fashion brand identity through the concept of window displays. Window displays are often categorized as an aspect of a much larger concept of visual merchandising that should be seen as a crucial part of the entire marketing communications. Although the concept of window displays is not new, their effect on the overall brand image creation remains relatively unexplored. The interpretation of communication in a visual form is complex in nature, and this research approaches the matter from a semiotic perspective. The approach was selected due to its capability to explore deeper meanings behind visual objects. In this study, window display is understood as a crucial part of the sign system of a fashion store. Window display is commonly regarded as the starting point of the entire shopping experience, and therefore in the lack of previous research, it is a logical starting point for this study. The analytical framework of the study follows the thee metafunctions of semiotic modes as discussed in the Theory of the Grammar of Visual Design by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006). The analytical framework is then applied to analyze six different window displays produced by the same fashion brand. Findings of the research are discussed in terms of the three metafunctions of ideational, interpersonal and textual, and the purpose is to increase the knowledge of how window displays can be used to depict different relations between brand, people, places and things. In terms of brand identity communication, the most important contribution is to understand the complex relationship that is formed between the window (the brand) and its viewer (the customer). As a result, this research finds that the window displays are loaded with multiple visual cues all of which intend to serve the same purpose of brand identity communication. Clothing and accessories are the most salient elements used and they can be understood as the embodiment of the brand identity. Images of models and mannequins are used to address the viewers and create a specific relationship with them. The less salient elements in the window displays are used to support the message the brand is conveying through the display.

Den här rapporten beskriver utvecklingen av en applikation för Windows 8 och Windows Phone 8 där fokus ligger på multiplattformsutveckling. Applikationen använder sig av Svenska Kyrkans API för att visa information om kyrkoåret på ett lättförståeligt och smidigt sätt. I rapporten behandlas även verktyg och metoder för att underlätta utvecklingen av Windowsapplikationer. Syftet med projektet är att förstå principerna med att utveckla för multiplattformar och få fram en så bra lösning som möjligt där maximalt med kod delas mellan projekten.

The main objective of this diploma thesis is to design and develop a cloud hosted service that allows developers of games for Windows Phone 7 platform to extend their products with social and competitive aspect using Platform as a Service solution Windows Azure for hosting the backend of this system. The first part of the thesis analyses systems that are available on the market and that are providing similar services for the target platform. Based on this analysis, functional and general requirements for the future application are specified in the second part. Based on these requirements, use case analysis is made. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to description of the most important features, APIs and specifics of the Windows Phone 7 software platform. The fourth part is dedicated to Windows Azure as a Cloud platform both in terms of most important services, their characteristics and APIs used to utilise them and in terms of their business and pricing conditions. The fifth part addresses the architecture and the most important implementation details of the application. The final part contains the user guide for both the Windows Phone 7 application and for developers interested in using the library containing the API during the development of their game. The output of this thesis is the designed and implemented application with client-server architecture ready to have its backend deployed in Windows Azure environment and to have its frontend deployed on Windows Phone 7 devices. The client part of the system is comprised of a library intended for developers of games, which encapsulates the API needed to access the backend on the Internet, and a graphic frontend intended for end users. The server part, which contains most of the application logic, has REST interface. The applications architecture allows future development in terms of new functionality and expansion on more client platforms.

New windows are rated based on their energy performance during the use phase. This rating neglects the overall environmental impact caused by raw material extraction, manufacturing, maintenance and disposal. Due to the number of residential window replacements occurring today in the United States, there is a growing need to quantify the sustainability of window preservation as an alternative to window replacement. This study assessed the environmental impact of historic wood window restoration versus window replacement for the entire "cradle to grave" life cycle of the window assembly. This study focused on a typical, mid-twentieth century housing development in the Northeast United States using four window configurations as follows: 1. Restored original wood window with a new exterior aluminum storm window; 2. PVC replacement window; 3. Aluminum-clad wood replacement window; 4. Wood replacement window. The dissertation assessed the life cycle of window configurations using GaBi Software. The life cycle inventories were analyzed using the TRACI 2.1 impact method which translated the environmental consequences of the life cycle assessment processes into quantifiable environmental impacts. The dissertation also considered window thermal performance and life cycle costs. When considering life cycle environmental impacts, thermal performance, energy savings and material costs, the results indicated that wood window restoration was the best option when compared to replacement windows considered in this study; however, the results indicated that building service life and window service life assumptions could impact results. Thermal performance testing of windows revealed that window restoration techniques undertaken in this study improved the window's overall thermal performance. The testing also indicated that the effects of air infiltration had minimal influence on the performance of the restored window assembly when compared to a high performance replacement window. The results of the energy model exhibited only a small annual energy savings between the restored window assembly and a high performance replacement window. The payback cost analysis revealed that, while there was an immediate financial benefit of window replacement with the PVC option, window replacement frequency and overall life cycle environmental impacts would favor the restored window option.

X windows is a graphic display management system. It is designed to work on a variety of machines and display adapters, however it is not designed for terminals with local graphics capabilities. X windows can be made to work on this type of terminal, although in a slower and restricted form. The problem with designing a variation of X for these terminals is the translation from X requests to native graphics commands, and the mapping of terminal input into X events. These implementation issues are discussed and example code is provided.

Projektet som denna rapport beskriver hade som målsättning att utveckla två applikationer på beställning av företaget Teknikhuset Umeå. En av dessa applikationer skulle vara till Windows 8 plattformen och den andra till Windows Phone 8 plattformen. Applikationernas syfte var att ge användaren information om högtider från kyrkoåret med hjälp av information hämtad från Svenska Kyrkans kalender API (se Henrik Johanssons rapport). Denna rapport beskriver utformandet av användargrässnitten till dessa två plattformar. Syftet med rapporten är att undersöka hur utvecklaren kan bygga ett optimalt användargränssnitt för respektive plattform och samtidigt undersöka om det finns likheter i dessa två utvecklingsprocesser. Om likheter i utvecklingsprocessen observeras så kommer dessa dokumenteras för att i framtiden kunna effektivisera utvecklingsprocessen för applikationer avsedda för dessa två plattformar. Förutom att beskriva utformandet av gränssnitten så beskriver rapporten också relevanta delar av plattformarnas respektive användargränssnitt så att läsaren kan förstå resonemanget bakom de beslut som tagits vid utformandet av användargränssnittet. Projektet resulterade i två användarvänliga användargränssnitt, ett till en Windows Phone 8 applikation och ett till en Windows 8 applikation.

Using a range of poems and prosody essays as support, I argue that reciprocal relationships are intrinsic to poetry, providing a model for actual collaboration. I also examine my own collaboration with a visual artist, which resulted in many of the poems in this collection.

This thesis has been performed at consulting firm Sweco Position in Jönköping. The thesis is divided into two main sections: theoretical and practical. The theoretical section contains an investigation into the possibilities of implementing a geographical information system (GIS) for administrations of wells with the integration of Bing Maps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The practical work comprises the development of a prototype for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. The students review the Model-View-ViewModel-pattern on a theoretical basis, compares the differences between Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT. The thesis also contains and investigation into the pros and cons of a web based application compared to a native one. The result of the thesis will be comprised of a GIS-service developed in C# in co-operation with XAML with the options of saving data locally and a WMS-based service layer for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
Detta examensarbete har utförts på konsultbolaget Sweco Position i Jönköping. Arbetet har varit uppdelat i två större delar: teoretiskt och praktiskt arbete. Teoretiska delen omfattade en utredning kring möjligheterna att implementera ett geografiskt informationssystem (GIS) för administration av brunnar med hjälp av Bing Maps tillsammans med Windows 8 och Windows Phone 8. Praktiska arbetet omfattade skapandet av en prototyp till Windows Phone 8 och Windows 8. Microsoft lanserade Windows 10 i mitten av 2015. Windows 10 är en serie operativ-system med flera versioner anpassade för många olika användningsområden. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise är en av versionerna inriktade på olika typer av inbyggda system. Vid anpassning utefter miljö kan delar av operativsystemet därför låsas ned och begränsas. För konfiguration av Windows 10 finns både gamla och nya verktyg tillgängliga. I detta projekt görs en undersökning av nedlåsnings- och anpassningsmöjligheter, samt konfigurationsverktyg med fokus på Windows 10 IoT Enterprise. De verktyg som har använts är Microsofts helt nya Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer, men även det lite äldre Windows System Image Manager. Med och utan hjälp av dessa verktyg har flera konfigurationsmöjligheter undersökts. Detta inkluderar bl.a. användar- och applikationsbegränsningar, branding (mjukvarumässig produktmärk-ning), och utseendeanpassningar. Utöver detta behandlas även framtagandet av färdig-konfigurerade Windows-avbildningar ytligt. Projektet har bestått av åtskilliga tester, främst baserade på Microsofts egna dokumentation. Majoriteten av de möjligheter och konfigurationer som har undersökts har visat sig fungerande och någorlunda lättanvända. En fungerande funktion har endast bedömts som sådan om denna uppfyller de beskrivningar Microsoft själva har givit ut. Detta utan att för den sakens skull förstöra andra delar av systemet. I slutändan beskriver resultaten till stor del funktioner som finns och fungerar, men inte i vilka praktiska scenarier dessa lämpar sig för användning. Vid konfiguration av större nedlåsningsfunktioner uppvisar Windows ICD problem. Ytterligare problem som också har noterats berör bl.a. möjligheterna för profilkopiering och generalisering i Windows 10.
Microsoft released Windows 10 in the middle of 2015. Windows 10 is a series of operating systems with multiple versions adapted for many different fields of work. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is one of the versions aimed at various types of embedded systems. During adaptation into certain environments, parts of the operating system may therefore be locked down or limited. For configuration of Windows 10, both old and new tools are available. In this project, an examination of lockdown and adaptation possibilities, as well as configuration tools, focusing on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is made. The tools used are Microsoft’s brand new Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer, but also their older Windows System Image Manager. Multiple configurations have been examined both with, and without the help of these tools. This includes user and application limitations, branding, and appearance. In addition to this, the creation of fully configured Windows images is superficially addressed. The project has consisted of several tests, mainly based on documentation from Microsoft. A majority of the examined possibilities and configurations have proven functional and quite easy to make use of. A working functionality has only been evaluated as such if it satisfies descriptions released by Microsoft themselves. This, as well as not breaking other parts of the system. In the end, the result mainly describes existing and working functionalities, not in what practical scenarios they fit. During configuration of major lockdown features, Windows ICD displays problems. Other problems has also been noted, among other things related to profile copying and generalization in Windows 10.

Rapporten avser att undersöka vilka olika lösningar det finns att tillgå då Windows Vista skall rullas ut till ett antal klientdatorer. Information om de olika produkterna presenteras samt praktiska laborationer med resultat. Slutligen görs en bedömning av vilken produkt eller lösning som lämpar sig bäst för ett litet företag med få klienter respektive ett stort företag med många klienter. Slutsatsen innehåller våra rekommendationer för hur utrullningen bör ske. Arbetet resulterade i att vi kunde utefter våra laborationer fatta beslutet att Ghost Solution Suite passar bäst för ett mindre företag medan Microsofts lösningar lämpar sig mer när företagen kommer upp i många klienter. Detta grundas främst på priset för produkterna samt hur svåra de är att använda men även hur mycket tid som sparas per installation.

Abschliessend habe ich die gebotenen Moeglichkeiten des Softwarepaketes untersucht und bewertet. Zur Untermalung meiner Ergebnisse wurden im Rahmen meiner Studienarbeit zwei Beispieldokumente erarbeitet. Alle erstellten Dokumente sind als Postscript-Dateien erhaeltlich.

El presente proyecto tiene como finalidad la implementación y definición de un SDK (Software Development Kit) con el que se puedan realizar aplicaciones universales integrando las características descritos por los lineamientos de Ensemble Interactions. Además, se desea lograr la implementación de los 6 patrones de diseño definidos por el estudio alemán Precious Design, con respecto a su investigación en el campo del ecosistema compuesto por múltiples pantallas. Por ello, esta investigación brindará un marco teórico detallando los conceptos de Ensemble Interactions y los 6 patrones que lo definen. Los resultados de la investigación realizada, respecto a los temas asociados a Ensemble Interactions, será el punto de partida y la base que dará soporte a los artefactos que se harán a lo largo de la realización del proyecto. Por otro lado, para representar los resultados de la investigación, se desarrollarán 3 demos que servirán para la implementación y definición del SDK. Por último, se implementarán 2 aplicaciones, utilizando el sdk, que cumplirán con todos los lineamientos y patrones de Ensemble Interactions y estarán orientadas al ámbito empresarial y al ámbito de hogar respectivamente. Para el desarrollo de proyecto se ha definido procesos, de los cuales primero se encuentra la investigación y definición del proyecto. También, la realización de 3 demos que abarquen los patrones de Ensemble Interactions. Luego, la definición, implementación y validación de las demos. Además, la realización de las aplicaciones orientadas al ámbito empresarial y de hogar. Por último, el desarrollo de un portal web en dónde se almacene el sdk y se documente todo lo concerniente al proyecto. El alcance del proyecto se ha definido y contemplado para realizarse a lo largo de 2 ciclos académicos, cantidad de ciclos que comprenden los talleres de proyecto.
This project objective is the implementation and definition of a SDK (Software Development Hit) that can be used to develop universal application by integrating the features described by Ensemble Interactions guidelines. In addition, we want to achieve the implementation of 6 design patterns defined by the German Precious Design studio, with respect to his research in the ecosystem field composed of multiple screens. Therefore, this research will provide a theoretical framework about the concepts of Ensemble Interactions and the 6 patterns that defines it. The results of the investigation, about the issued associated with Ensemble Interactions, will be the starting point and the base that will support the artifacts that will be made throughout the project. On the other hand, to show the results of the investigation, three demos will be developed that will be useful for the implementation and definition of the SDK. Finally, two applications will be developed using the SDK, which comply with all guidelines and patterns of Ensemble Interactions and it will be targeted to the business and home range respectively. For the project development we have defined different processes, which first is the research and definition of the project. Also, the development of the three demos covering Ensemble Interactions patterns. Then the definition, implementation and validation of the three demos. Moreover, the development of the two applications orientated to the business and home range respectively. Finally, the development of a web portal web the SDK is stored and everything about the project is documented. The project scope has been defined and contemplated to be accomplished over two academic terms.

Understanding and working with Microsoft Windows registry is an important ability from the perspective of security. This ability is used by malicious software as well as by software, which repaires the damage caused by activity of malicious software. However, applications accessing and working with the registry are platform dependent, which may not always be convenient and it can lead to other problems if the platform is not secure. Therefore, the aim of this work is to create a platform independent application for accessing and working with registry, which makes possible to analyse the effect of malware on registry.

A customer of Sekonden IT is to replace the current setup authoring process for a program called PropCalc with a new process based on a setup authoring tool with high quality and usability.

The report aims at present a suitable setup authoring tool for PropCalc by making use of a structured evaluation process evaluate the setup authoring tools on the market.

Olof Næssén presents a process for evaluating web frameworks for Java in his thesis Utvärdering av webbramverk för Java. The evaluation process is adapted in the report to generally suit evaluation of software. After adjustment to the evaluation process an evalutaion is performed evaluating the currently available setup authoring tools.

The evaluation will show that the most suitable candidate for PropCalc is InstallShield Premier but that the candidate that is finally chosen is WiX.

En kund till Sekonden IT vill ersätta nuvarande installationsförfarande för ett program kallat PropCalc med ett nytt förfarande byggt på ett högkvalitativt installationsverktyg med hög användbarhet.

Rapportens syftet är att genom att använda sig av en strukturerad utvärderingsprocess genomföra en utvärderinga av tillgängliga installationsverktyg på marknaden och därmed kunna presentera en lämplig kandidat.

Olof Næssén presenterar i sitt examensarbete Utvärdering av webbramverk för Java en utvärderingsprocess för webbramverk. Denna utvärderingsprocess anpassas i rapporten för att kunna utvärdera mjukvara generellt. Efter anpassning utförs en utvärdering av tillgängliga installationsverktyg.

Utvärderingen resulterar i att den kandidat som är mest lämplig för PropCalc är Installshield Premier men att den kandidat som slutgiltligen väljs är WiX.

Duplicate detection is the task of identifying all groups of records within a data set that represent the same real-world entity, respectively. This task is difficult, because (i) representations might differ slightly, so some similarity measure must be defined to compare pairs of records and (ii) data sets might have a high volume making a pair-wise comparison of all records infeasible. To tackle the second problem, many algorithms have been suggested that partition the data set and compare all record pairs only within each partition. One well-known such approach is the Sorted Neighborhood Method (SNM), which sorts the data according to some key and then advances a window over the data comparing only records that appear within the same window. We propose several variations of SNM that have in common a varying window size and advancement. The general intuition of such adaptive windows is that there might be regions of high similarity suggesting a larger window size and regions of lower similarity suggesting a smaller window size. We propose and thoroughly evaluate several adaption strategies, some of which are provably better than the original SNM in terms of efficiency (same results with fewer comparisons).
Duplikaterkennung beschreibt das Auffinden von mehreren Datensätzen, die das gleiche Realwelt-Objekt repräsentieren. Diese Aufgabe ist nicht trivial, da sich (i) die Datensätze geringfügig unterscheiden können, so dass Ähnlichkeitsmaße für einen paarweisen Vergleich benötigt werden, und (ii) aufgrund der Datenmenge ein vollständiger, paarweiser Vergleich nicht möglich ist. Zur Lösung des zweiten Problems existieren verschiedene Algorithmen, die die Datenmenge partitionieren und nur noch innerhalb der Partitionen Vergleiche durchführen. Einer dieser Algorithmen ist die Sorted-Neighborhood-Methode (SNM), welche Daten anhand eines Schlüssels sortiert und dann ein Fenster über die sortierten Daten schiebt. Vergleiche werden nur innerhalb dieses Fensters durchgeführt. Wir beschreiben verschiedene Variationen der Sorted-Neighborhood-Methode, die auf variierenden Fenstergrößen basieren. Diese Ansätze basieren auf der Intuition, dass Bereiche mit größerer und geringerer Ähnlichkeiten innerhalb der sortierten Datensätze existieren, für die entsprechend größere bzw. kleinere Fenstergrößen sinnvoll sind. Wir beschreiben und evaluieren verschiedene Adaptierungs-Strategien, von denen nachweislich einige bezüglich Effizienz besser sind als die originale Sorted-Neighborhood-Methode (gleiches Ergebnis bei weniger Vergleichen).

Användare kan idag boka taxi via TaxiCaller på webben, iPhone och Android. De vill även finnas på Windows Phone 8 och därmed stödja de tre största smartphoneplattformarna. Den här rapporten syftar till att undersöka hur en applikation kan utvecklas med hjälp av ett användarcentrerat arbetssätt för att uppnå hög användbarhet. Prototyping, card sort, användbarhetskrav är några av de metoder som tillämpats. Rapporten beskriver metoderna genom dess teori, hur de tillämpats i projektet samt dess resultat. Det grundläggande genomförandet var att samla in användarinformation för att sedan utveckla en prototyp som testades på användare. Sedan gjordes en ny prototyp utifrån resultatet från användartestet och denna process itererade fram fyra prototyper. Användbarhetsproblem från testerna samt tid för genomförande av specificerad uppgift redogörs. Resultatet är en prototyp för Windows Phone 8 som nästintill är helt färdig för publicering. Användartest är den metod som haft mest påverkan på resultatet av applikationen. Varje test har frambringat problem med användbarheten som sedan har kunnat åtgärdas för att förbättra applikationen. Med tanke på utvärderingar och de krav som specificerades är jag nöjd med resultatet som bland annat är avskalat och grafiskt tilltalande samtidigt som den önskade funktionaliteten från TaxiCaller är implementerad.

I dagsläget finns inget system som övervakar en tullstation utan att man måste vara på plats på kontoret eller stationen. Denna rapport handlar om utvecklingen av en övervaknings applikation i Windows 8 store app miljö på uppdrag av Combitech AB mot kunden Kapsch TrafficCom. Applikationen utvecklades mot en Windows 8 surfplatta för att kunna övervaka en tullstation. Användargränssnitt är utvecklat i XAML och dess logik i C#. Onion Architecture har används för att bygga upp arkitekturen i applikationen. Resultatet av examensarbetet blev en fungerande prototyp av en övervaknings applikationen till en Windows 8 surfplatta, där innehållet genereras av en simulator. Applikationen visar användaren information om en specifik tullstation, exempelvis passager och event.
Today is there no system that monitors a tolling station without the need to be at the office or the tolling station. This report concerns the development of a monitoring application to Windows 8 store app environment on behalf of Combitech AB towards the customer Kapsch TrafficCom. The application was developed for a Windows 8 tablet to monitor a tolling station. The user interface was developed in XAML and its logic in C#. Onion Architecture has been used to build the architecture for the application. The result of this thesis was a working prototype of a monitoring application for Windows 8 tablet, where the content is generated by a simulator. The application displays information for the user about a specific tolling station, for example passages and events.

Jų pagrindu sukurtas programų kūrimo modelis skirtas mažiems ir vidutinio dydžio programiniams projektams kurti. Sudarytas reikalingų Windows apvalko sąsajų sąrašas ir jų aprašymai. Pagal sudaryta modelį sukurtas pavyzdinis programos projektas ir surašytos pastabos ir komentarai palengvinantys tokio pobūdžio programų kūrimą. Taip pat aprašytos pagrindinės problemos ir jų sprendimo būdai.
Aim of the work: To analyze existing software developing models, connecting components of Windows Operative System and create a model of software development that further could be used to develop programs integrated into Windows Operative System by using the connecting shell of the system. Commonly used software development models were analyzed in the thesis, including cascading, evolutional, componential, stepwise, spiral, universal and MSF (Microsoft Solution Framework) models. A novel model of software development was established on bases of investigated models that could be used for development of minor and middle software projects. Furthermore, the list with a detail elucidation of Windows shell connections was added. According to the established model, the software project was developed. In addition, common problems, possible solutions as well as general comments on software development were discussed. This could facilitate the mentioned software development.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this capstone project was to research the hibernation file, its role in memory forensics and to explore current technology, techniques and concepts for analysis. This study includes an in-depth look at the Windows hibernation feature, file format, potential evidence saved to the file and its impacts in digital forensic investigations. This research was performed to demonstrate the importance of the hibernation file and to generate awareness for this forensic artifact. The research questions presented were designed to identify the properties of Windows hibernation and its significance in digital forensics. Additionally, these research questions were aimed at identifying the important concepts analysts should understand in selecting forensic software and in hibernation analysis. Through the literature review process, the hibernation file was identified as an essential part of digital forensics which provides analysts with snapshots of system memory from various points in the past. This data includes web, email and chat sessions in addition to running processes, login credentials, encryption keys, program data and much more. Beyond forensics, the hibernation file is useful in the fields of data recovery and incident response. A review of current hibernation file publications revealed incomplete and conflicting works culminating in the acknowledgment that more research is needed in order to close these research gaps. More awareness for hibernation forensics through its inclusion in future published works and in computer forensic educational courses is recommended. These inclusions will assist to arm practitioners with the ability to accurately utilize the hibernation file in order to obtain the highest quality forensic evidence. The growth of high speed Internet connections has fueled an increase in the demand for high quality streaming video. In order to satisfy timing constraints, streaming video typically uses UDP as the default network transport protocol. Unfortunately, UDP does not have any end-to-end congestion control mechanisms, and so in the absence of higher layer congestion control can lead to unfairness and possibly congestion collapse. While there has been research done in video measurement and characterization using custom tools, to the best of our knowledge, there have been no measurement studies where the researchers had control over a commercial streaming media server and client, and control of the network conditions and content. A goal of this research is to characterize the bitrate response of Windows Streaming Media in response to network-level metrics such as capacity, loss rate, and round-trip time. We build a streaming media test bed that allows us to systematically vary network and content encoding characteristics. We analyze responsiveness by comparing streaming media flows to TCP-friendly flows under various streaming configurations and network conditions. We find Windows Streaming Media has a prominent buffering phase in which it sends data at a bitrate significantly higher than the steady-state rate. Overall, Windows Streaming Media is responsive to available capacity, but is often unfair to TCP. Knowledge of streaming media's response to congestion encountered in the network is important in building networks that better accommodate their turbulence. The additional characteristics we measure can be combined to guide emulation or simulation configurations and network traffic generators for use in further research.

This paper provides sample displays of the station status window, telemetry receiver and test parameter dialog boxes, mission event log window and test result windows for bit error rate, noise power ratio, solar calibration and antenna servo tests. Use of the software is apparent from sample displays so the text concentrates on lessons learned from site surveys, verification of configuration against mission files, accommodation of change of plug-in modules (e.g., IF filters in the telemetry receiver), tolerance of equipment removed from the system for maintenance, built-in test of serial and parallel communications and modular software design for replacement of equipment.

O entusiasmo criado em torno do paradigma da computação na nuvem leva as instituições a considerar a sua inclusão em novos projetos e em projetos existentes. As empresas necessitam contudo, de conhecer em antemão as especificidades do novo paradigma e determinar se o negócio beneficia com o uso de serviços de cloud-computing. Do mesmo modo, é importante perceber se a nuvem se encontra preparada para o sector empresarial e qual a curva de aprendizagem e esforço implicados na sua adoção. Nesta dissertação, analisaram-se todos estes pontos através de uma das maiores plataformas de cloud-computing, o Microsoft Windows Azure. Para se aferir o esforço seguiu-se uma abordagem prática, na qual se desenvolveu uma aplicação empresarial que posteriormente foi migrada para a nuvem. O custo de uma solução alojada localmente foi comparado ao custo de uma solução na nuvem tendo-se recorrido a dados de servidores reais para dimensionar o serviço. Foi concluído que não existe ganho financeiro para uma instituição se a mudança para o paradigma da computação na nuvem não tiver em vista o aproveitamento de uma das suas características diferenciadoras como por exemplo, o associativismo de custo, a elasticidade ou a rapidez de aprovisionamento. Por outro lado, os resultados mostram uma poupança na ordem dos 40% caso se faça uso da elasticidade da cloud.

Quando si parla di VoIP ci si riferisce ad un insieme di protocolli di comunicazione, tecnologie e metodi di trasmissione che permettono di effettuare conversazioni telefoniche attraverso reti a commutazione di pacchetto basata su IP, come Internet. Si tratta di una tecnologia che ha subito un forte crescita sia in ambito lavorativo che in ambito privato, questo fenomeno è in maggior parte dovuto al successo di applicazioni commerciali come Skype. Anche i dispositivi mobili hanno avuto un grande sviluppo e diffusione, sono passati da essere semplici telefoni cellulari a dispositivi in grado di fornire all’utente funzionalità avanzate come ad esempio navigazione internet, posta elettronica, riproduzione video, possibilità di installare applicazioni aggiuntive. Inoltre anche le reti dati sono migliorate in maniera considerevole negli ultimi anni, offrendo agli utenti una larghezza di banda sempre maggiore anche in mobilità. Tutti questi fattori hanno portato ad una crescente richiesta di applicazioni per dispositivi mobili in grado di sfruttare il VoIP. Per questi motivi si è deciso di progettare e sviluppare un applicazione VoIP per Windows Mobile, che offra tutte le funzioni necessarie ad un uso completo del VoIP e con un’interfaccia utente sia di facile utilizzo, per permettere anche agli utenti meno esperti di poter utilizzare la tecnologia VoIP

The present work aims to arrive at a functional understanding of the visual computations within one perceptual instant of time. When perceiving the external world, we feel surrounded by a sensory environment that extends continuously into both space and time. However, the content of conscious thought consists of coherent scenes containing a limited number of discrete objects as an invariant percept within one particular instance of time. Here, vision is investigated as a process that extracts spatio-temporally invariant information about the physical world and at the same time integrates the current perceptual representation into a dynamic stream of visual impressions.

Abstract (sommario):

The present work aims to arrive at a functional understanding of the visual computations within one perceptual instant of time. When perceiving the external world, we feel surrounded by a sensory environment that extends continuously into both space and time. However, the content of conscious thought consists of coherent scenes containing a limited number of discrete objects as an invariant percept within one particular instance of time. Here, vision is investigated as a process that extracts spatio-temporally invariant information about the physical world and at the same time integrates the current perceptual representation into a dynamic stream of visual impressions.

Denna rapport beskriver Windows Installer och hur dess API kan användas för att generera MSI-paket. Det förklaras hur MSI-paket bör vara utformade och hur dessa kan användas.

Projektet resulterade i en prototyp åt uppdragsgivaren Capitex AB. Prototypen kunde användas för att generera MSI-paket för applikationen Säljstöd.

Abstract (sommario):

Unter Berücksichtung des vom Universitätsrechenzentrum (URZ) der TU Chemnitz angebotenen Dienstespektrums wird dessen Erweiterung durch Active Directory (AD) untersucht. Dabei war Aufgabe die vorhandene Infrastruktur nicht signifikant zu ändern. Für AD-basierende Technologien sind Alternativen zu diskutieren. Inbesondere soll Augenmerk auf die Bereiche der statischen DNS-Konfiguration, der vorhandenen Heimdal-basierten Kerberos-Authentifizierung und die Nutzerverwaltung in der MoUSE gelegt werden.
