L’entretien sociologique organise les formes de l’expression identitaire, en plaçant l’enquêté narrant son histoire face à un interlocuteur qui occupe une position de tiers significatif. À l’appui d’entretiens réalisés auprès de femmes âgées de plus de cinquante ans, cet article questionne le statut de la parole recueillie en sondant les modalités de l’identification et de la reconnaissance de soi dans le cadre contraignant du protocole sociologique. Il met en évidence la complexité des discours, soumis aux normes temporelles socialement admises, mais aussi informés par une mémoire sélective et par le corps qui, à son tour, saisit le vif de l’identité. S’identifier revient à désigner, avec gêne ou aisance, les accomplissements de sa vie, en conformité ou non avec les injonctions sociales. Le récit produit une image identitaire instable, d’un soi à temporalité variable, défiant le sociologue dans sa pratique interprétative.

Abstract: This article makes a case for "reading sound" in archives, oral histories, and written testimonies and models the process via a reflexive engagement with the author's own research. Drawing on examples from French colonial archives in the Archives Nationales d'Outre Mer and the Service Historique de la Defense, it discusses how to make sounded references meaningful, ways to think about finding patterns across sound events, and why scholars might bother. Paying attention to the sonic, as well as to broader sensory and aesthetic events in the historical records, offers an inroad by which to adopt an "anarchival sensibility". This move opens space to think history differently, putting embodied experiences and norms, and the modalities of perception and knowledge production that constitute those experiences, at the forefront of scholarly knowledge production. As such, a sonic rereading of the archive offers one route by which to decolonize the historiography of the Algerian War of Independence and the era of French colonization more broadly. Abstract: Cet article plaide en faveur de la « lecture sonore » dans les archives, les histoires orales et les témoignages écrits et modélise les processus par un engagement réflexif à partir des recherches de l'auteure. S'appuyant sur des exemples tirés des archives coloniales françaises des Archives d'Outre-Mer et du Service Historique de la Défense, il explique comment donner du sens aux références sonores, comment réfléchir à la recherche des modèles à travers des événements sonores et pourquoi les chercheurs pourraient s'en soucier. Prêter attention aux sons, ainsi qu'aux événements sensoriels et esthétiques plus larges dans les documents historiques, offre une ouverture permettant l'adoption d'une « sensibilité anarchivique ». Cette évolution donne l'occasion de penser l'histoire différemment, en plaçant les expériences et les normes incarnées, ainsi que les modalités de perception et de production des connaissances que constituent ces expériences, au premier plan de la production des connaissances scientifiques. Et tant que telle, une relecture sonore des archives offre une voie pour décoloniser l'historiographie de la guerre d'indépendance algérienne et, plus largement, de l'ère de la colonisation française.

La souffrance des personnes en fin de vie, et de leur famille, n’est pas modulée seulement par la perspective qu’ils ont de la mort, plutôt difficile à imaginer, mais aussi par le bilan qu’ils font de leur « histoire de vie ». Ce bilan s’élabore selon une représentation complexe de la situation (à la fois individuelle, familiale et sociale), et qui est en particulier fortement tributaire des normes, des règles et des loyautés sous-tendant l’éthique de la famille de celui qui va mourir. Suivant les circonstances et en fonction de la manière dont, dès le début, le patient et ses proches se sont aménagés par rapport aux limites, il faudra reprendre avec eux les différentes étapes du processus de deuil ( « mourning » ) qui est à l’oeuvre tout au long de la vie, et plus précisément aux moments charnières ou de crise.

RésuméDans quelle mesure les savants ont-ils utilisé les sciences pour poursuivre une bonne vie au XVIIesiècle? Comment articuler révolution scientifique et questionnement éthique? Ce sont les questions que formule l’historien des sciences Matthew Jones dans son ouvrageThe good life in the scientific revolution. Son projet s’inscrit d’abord dans les prolongements des recherches sur une histoire sociale de la vérité qui a encouragé de nombreux historiens depuis deux décennies à déchiffrer les normes morales qui garantissent l’usage et la production des énoncés scientifiques. La civilité, la politesse, l’honneur ont donné lieu à des recherches précises qui ont permis de souligner le contexte culturel et social qui entoure les pratiques de l’innovation scientifique à l’âge classique. Ensuite, il approfondit ces interrogations en se demandant comment la pratique mathématique est considérée comme une mise en jeu, et non comme le reflet, de ces normes morales. Cet article se propose de discuter des apports de ce livre en examinant d’abord les trois formes d’expérimentation d’une morale mathématique menées par Descartes, Pascal et Leibniz. L’article montre ensuite comment Matthew Jones puise dans les travaux de Pierre Hadot sa conception des exercices mathématiques comme exercices spirituels. Dans un troisième temps, l’article étudie dans quelle mesure le livre illustre un retour de la question morale en histoire des sciences anglophone depuis une vingtaine d’années alors que l’épistémologie classique à la française s’est toujours tenue à distance de ce questionnement. On montrera comment ces approches ouvrent des pistes de réflexion pour les historiens pour mieux saisir les relations entre sciences et religion à l’époque moderne.

El proyecto se centra en el estudio del largo camino recorrido por la mujer desde el ámbito doméstico hasta el ámbito extradoméstico o público, desde los tiempos modernos a la actualidad. Abordándose desde la transversalidad que permiten diversas disciplinas (Historia Moderna, Historia de América, Historia del Arte y Didáctica de las Ciencias Sociales), dicho trabajo permite ser analizado desde diferentes perspectivas: mujeres que, ya desde las centurias modernas, se atreven a transgredir las normas de comportamiento vigentes; que participan en acontecimientos claves de la contemporaneidad como la revolución industrial, los movimientos obreros, el activismo político; que adquieren relevancia en el mecenazgo artístico o que, en calidad de pintoras y escultoras, convierten el arte en su profesión; así como mujeres que van asumiendo un creciente protagonismo en la educación, en la instrucción de algunas disciplinas o en la evolución de los Derechos Humanos.

With the significant growth of the meal kit market, environmental pollution problems caused by meal kit packaging materials are also emerging. Meal kit companies are pressured by society to use more eco-friendly packaging materials. However, doing so would only increase the production costs and sales prices, if consumers turn a blind eye to it. Therefore, for meal kit companies, it is necessary to understand the antecedents to consumers' eco-friendly behavior intentions and react accordingly. For this reason, this study used the VBN model to examine the decision-making process of meal kit consumers that leads from value beliefs and personal norms to eco-friendly behavioral intentions. In addition, the mediating roles of emotional factors (predicted guilt and pride) in the process were considered. To address the research objectives, a survey was conducted amongst adult men and women who purchased meal kits and plan to purchase them in the future. A total of 300 responses were collected from July 11 to 13, 2023. Among them, 249 (83.0%) suitable responses were analyzed. Descriptive statistics analysis and structural equation modeling analysis were performed using SPSS and AMOS programs. The analysis results are as follows. First, the values of meal kit consumers had significant effects on outcome perception, responsibility attribution, individual norms, and purchase intentions. Second, there were significant mediating effects of anticipated guilt and pride in the relationship between personal norms and the intentions to purchase eco-friendly meal kits. The analysis results emphasized the importance of values, beliefs, personal norms, and anticipated emotions in strengthening the eco-friendly behavioral intentions of meal kit consumers. It is suggested that meal kit companies should invest in monitoring and managing consumers' ecological values, personal norms, and emotional factors at the marketing level.

The last two decades have seen an unprecedented proliferation of ethnographies of policing in many parts of the world. Implicit in the body of this new work is the continuation of an old and perhaps irresolvable debate on what policing is: the extralegal subjugation of subordinate populations or an agency whose authority is highly restricted by the norms of civilian populations. I argue that the best way to tackle this debate is to further develop the incipient practices of global ethnography, that is, to understand local practices via their global histories.

En este trabajo analizaremos el contexto que favorece la existencia de regulaciones y controles sobre los protocolos de investigación que permiten la violación a los derechos humanos. El marco bioético de referencia serán las declaraciones de derechos humanos realizadas por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) en relación con la Declaración de Helsinki, considerada como la norma con más amplia aceptación procedimental y credibilidad moral en la historia de las normas internacionales sobre investigación.

Despite recent research about the link between social capital and economic growth, the degree to which social norms influenced the first phase of Italy’s regional economic divergence remains largely unexplored. A methodology based on a multifaceted definition of social capital, employing data about charity, mutual aid, and crime permits estimates of the differences in the strength of trust and cooperative norms across Italy’s provinces at ten-year intervals between 1871 and 1911. Further analysis of trust and cooperative norms via regression models of conditional convergence in industrial value added per capita shows that, although regional disparities in social capital were large during the late nineteenth century, they are not strongly correlated with industrial growth. Instead, the evidence indicates that human capital, innovation, and formal institutions were far more instrumental in determining the economic fortunes of Italy’s provinces before the World War I.

La historia clínica perinatal es un documento para el control obstétrico y neonatal donde se recopila la información de la paciente y la evolución del embarazo. Los controles perinatales ayudan a detectar riesgos durante el desarrollo del embarazo. El tipo de estudio fue descriptivo – comparativo con una revisión documental en su primera fase, haciendo una comparación de los reglamentos establecidos sobre el proceso perinatal internacional con el nacional, y en su segunda fase se aplicó una encuesta para verificar dicho proceso, es diseño cualitativo, descriptivo, de corte transversal, prospectivo, con un diseño no experimental, transaccional. La población estudiada es sobre embarazadas, en el distrito de Chitré, provincia de Herrera, cuya muestra es de 100 de ellas (20 por cada corregimiento: Chitré, Llano Bonito, La Arena, San Juan Bautista y Monagrillo). Tipo de muestreo no probabilístico intencional, el instrumento de recolección de datos es la encuesta y para el análisis de datos fue en la herramienta Microsoft 2010, herramienta de Excel, análisis de datos descriptivos. El objetivo de este artículo es comparar las normas del formulario perinatal Internacional con el formulario perinatal Nacional y sus procesos, se evaluará el formulario perinatal Internacional y el formulario Nacional se identificarán los pasos para el cumplimiento de las normas y verificar, además, el correcto llenado de las tarjetas de la Historia clínica perinatal y así dar con una mejor versión en cuanto a lo vivenciado en el país. Dio como resultado similitudes entre los formularios y entre las embarazadas encuestadas un 50% indican no haber recibido orientación, además se evidenció que un 10% no cuenta con loes exámenes de VIH, que son necesarios para el bienestar tanto de la madre, como del feto y su posterior nacimiento, lo que demuestra que deben aplicarse mejores estrategias, para cumplir con los Objetivos del Desarrollo Sostenible.

El siguiente artículo es una reflexión cuya finalidad descansa en analizar algunos de los postulados de la teoría psicoanalítica de Sigmund Freud y las posibilidades metodológicas que ofrece para las diversas disciplinas al interior de las ciencias sociales. Se van a exhibir las aserciones más importantes del médico austriaco en relación con el vínculo inexorable que se construye entre el aparato psíquico (con su respectiva evolución) y la formación de estamentos, normas e instituciones sociales. Es menester exponer estas cristalizaciones teóricas en aras de poder elucidar, al menos desde una perspectiva concreta, cómo se han fraguado los procesos más importantes en la constitución de la civilización a través de la historia. L'« Alignement de la rue dite de Dora Grossa de la métropole de Turin » semble offrir au spécialiste de l'histoire urbaine la confirmation d'un parcours interprétatif déjà expérimenté dans de nombreuses capitales régionales de l'Europe du milieu du XVIIIesiècle. C'est en fait un édit royal qui sanctionne en 1736 la volonté pragmatique de la monarchie et de sa cour . Et c'est l'architecte du roi — Benedetto Alfieri — qui dicte les normes auxquelles devront se tenir les « conducteurs » des travaux de construction. Un discours fonctionnaliste et mercantile sert à légitimer une intervention urbanistique destinée à compléter la réorganisation des «quartiers militaires» de Turin, entamée par Filippo Juvarra avec l'alignement de la rue de Porta Palazzo. Un parcours qui est également une mise en ordre de sources, une possible définition des modalités du récit historiographique.

The more Victorian physicians deepened their research into female sexuality, the more a culture of lust infected the hypocritical façade of a nation strictly attached to social norms of order, formality, and bigotry. Lascivious sexual desire and carnal appetite – here embodied in female masturbation – were taboos that had to be forcibly silenced. Yet, late-Victorian pornography mocked medical discourses on female onanism, as well as fears related to female sexuality, and revealed ‘unspeakable’ secret domestic settings marred by ‘dangerous’ practices, scandalous carnality and deviant desires. Furthermore, contemptuous of literary censorship and strict morality, the plenteous erotic literature, represented here by William Lazenby's pornographic magazine The Pearl, not only dared to taunt physicians’ concerns about female ‘self-pollution’ circulating at that time, but also found a great inspiration in the huge domestic success of some innovative medical tools – specifically patented to assuage women's nerves – being produced in those years: electric vibrators. Those ‘engines’ rapidly invaded pornographic literature of the late nineteenth century and became central to a great number of erotic stories, titillating fables and poems, as clearly demonstrated by the contents of The Pearl.

En ce sens, la notion de confiance est étroitement imbriquée à celle de « capital social » telle qu'elle a été développée par James Coleman (1990). El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar un acercamiento a lo que fueron las condiciones de vida en las prisiones franquistas de posguerra, centrándonos en las consecuencias que se derivan de la insuficiente alimentación que recibían los presos. Hacemos un breve recorrido por la memoria de los presos, que nos han dejado constantes referencias a su escasez y nulo aporte alimenticio. Estudiamos las normas remitidas a todos los centros de reclusión desde la Inspección Central de Sanidad de la Dirección General de Prisiones en las que se establecían directrices a seguir en lo tocante a la alimentación, que muestran una total desconexión de la realidad. Contrastamos esas normas con los informes elaborados por los médicos, en concreto, el amplio informe remitido por el responsable de la Prisión Provincial de Ourense que llama la atención sobre las consecuencias de la subalimentación a que se ven sometidos los reclusos. Finalmente, en las conclusiones, avanzamos una cifra del número de fallecidos en las prisiones durante la posguerra, a partir de los escasos datos disponibles.

Abstract This article explores the role of critical engagement with official and alternative historical narratives for dissident/diverse activists in Chile. Intervening in the debate surrounding queer temporality, which has tended to focus on the idea of futurity, the article brings Elizabeth Freeman's concept of “temporal drag” into conversation with Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui's theorization of ch'ixi subjectivity to argue that temporal drag on ch'ixi bodies renders visible the impact of colonial norms surrounding race and sexuality in the creation of the modern Chilean nation-state. Through four case studies, gathered via archival research and ethnographic participant observation, the author makes the case that by engaging with and questioning, rather than running from, official historical narratives, dissident/diverse activists in Chile carry out activism that brings to light both the country's historical and continuing oppression of sexual and racial minorities and the violent histories of colonialism and dictatorship that have made this oppression possible.

Cet article propose d’aborder la question de l’implication des communautés de femmes de Metz dans les mouvances de réforme en Lorraine du ix e et surtout du x e siècle et xi e siècles, par le biais des récits hagiographiques et, dans une moindre mesure, historiographiques. Ces communautés sont au nombre de trois : Sainte-Glossinde, Saint-Pierre-aux-Nonnains et Sainte-Marie-aux-Nonnains. L’article part de l’hypothèse que ces récits constituent autant de contributions à une communauté discursive débattant, en contexte de réforme, de la définition de la vita religiosa féminine. Abstract In his campaign and first few years in office, Donald Trump consistently defied contemporary norms by using explicit, negative rhetoric targeting ethnic/racial minorities. Did this rhetoric lead White Americans to express more or less prejudiced views of African Americans or Hispanics, whether through changing norms around racial prejudice or other mechanisms? We assess that question using a thirteen-wave panel conducted with a population-based sample of Americans between 2008 and 2018. We find that via most measures, White Americans’ expressed anti-Black and anti-Hispanic prejudice declined after Trump’s political emergence, and we can rule out even small increases in the expression of prejudice. These results suggest the limits of racially charged rhetoric’s capacity to heighten prejudice among White Americans overall. They also indicate that rather than being a fixed predisposition, prejudice can shift by reacting against changing presidential rhetoric.

Built heritage is not merely about living quarters, but it also reflects the living standards, cultural norms and values of any society. The old built heritage gives references to the past, the way people used to live and their living arrangements. This is done by understanding the spatial layouts of that particular built heritage. This research aims to focus on documenting a historic building from the colonial period located in the walled city of Lahore, to highlight the need and significance of conservation of these historical buildings that are neglected and under threat. The method of research adopted for this paper was to document this building via an ethnographic analysis using photographic surveys, questionaires, interviews from government authorities (Walled City of Lahore Authority) and local residents, and several site visits for detailed documentation. This paper aims to identify the aesthetics and structural threats and other aspects of the Pirzada Mansion, which is a splendid example of the British colonial period and is located in Walled City of Lahore. Abstract Collective narratives that have been received by a society as part of its culture are based on and respond to prevalent norms and values. Whether they conform to or criticize existing conventions, collective narratives are created within a cultural historical context that should be reconstructed as a point of departure for interpretation. In this article I focus on “The Shining Robe”, a story incorporated in Hibbur Yafeh MeHa’yeshua authored by Rabbi Nissim Gaon of Kairouan (first half of the 11th century). The choice of this story is intriguing due to its foreign nature and its departure from the gender norms that prevailed in Ashkenaz, compared to the gender norms that were prevalent in the Jewish-Muslim context. I argue that the response that this story evoked in Ashkenaz, whether explicit or implicit, made it necessary to cross cultural bridges between Kairouan where it was created and the cultural context where it was received. I refer to the Judeo-Arabic version of Hibbur Yafeh in comparison to its translations-adaptations in Ashkenaz dated to the 13th-16th centuries. These adapted versions are briefly compared also to its parallel in Provence, translated from the Judeo-Arabic.

In diesem Text legt Løgstrup seine Konzeption der Debatte zwischen Humanismus und Christentum dar. Er argumentiert dafür, dass die beiden Positionen nicht als einander entgegengesetzt zu betrachten sind, da beide die Interdependenz und Verletzlichkeit des Menschseins als Grundlage für eine “stumme” Forderung nach Umsorge erkennen – auch wenn der Humanismus in dieser Forderung lediglich die Leistung sozialer Normen sehen und das Christentum sie mit Lehren der Kirche verwechseln kann. So betrachtet, greift der Text als erster Entwurf jenen Ideen vor, die Løgstrup in seinem späteren Hauptwerk Den etiske fordring (1956) entwickeln sollte.

En se penchant sur le contexte économique et socioculturel particulier d’après-guerre, cet article tente de mettre en lumière ce que révèlent les discours publicitaires diffusés à Montréal entre 1944 et 1954 en ce qui concerne la famille, et plus particulièrement l’enfance. D’une manière globale, cet article tente de dégager ce qui peut s’apparenter à une « norme sociale » concernant la famille et l’enfance, en cherchant à comprendre comment sont perçus et présentés les enfants. À travers l’enfance, l’image de la famille ainsi que les rôles maternel et paternel sont également mis en lumière. Invariablement, dans la publicité à Montréal au lendemain de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, on véhicule l’image d’une famille type « idéale », d’une famille heureuse, donc celle d’une enfance heureuse. Les rôles parentaux sont bien marqués. La tâche d’assurer le bonheur et la santé des enfants (par les publicités de médicaments, de nourriture et de vêtements) incombe à la mère. Le père, quant à lui, se trouve responsable de la sécurité financière de sa famille, c’est pourquoi il demeure la figure centrale des publicités d’épargne et d’assurances. Malgré le fait que l’enfant soit souvent utilisé, il est rarement présenté seul dans la publicité. Il est intégré à son contexte familial, est défini par rapport à ses parents et n’existe pas sans eux. L’enfant n’est pas visé directement comme un public cible, mais est plutôt présenté comme un argument de vente. Il n’est considéré comme consommateur potentiel que par l’entremise de ses parents.

Over the past five decades, hip hop has become a widely celebrated genre of music, yet misconceptions still exist surrounding the hip hop community’s norm of sampling. This paper explores the origins of hip hop and the concept of sampling that is central to the genre. Sampling can be conceptualized as an eight-pronged framework involving three types of wholesale appropriation, three types related to lyrical quotation, and two types related to the variety of music or beats. Each type is discussed, and some examples are given. Following this overview, the ethics of sampling is explored via the context of the origins of copyright in the United States, which, some consider, to be a sampling of the first copyright law from Great Britain, the Statute of Anne. Historic litigation against hip hop artists is also discussed, as well as how these specific cases changed the attitude of record labels and their willingness to allow their artists to sample from outside the genre. The paper culminates with a discussion on various sampling norms within various communities and how they can be viewed as potential ways to revitalize U. S. copyright law.

One of the clearest signs that Psychology has impacted popular culture is the public’s familiarity with the Rorschach ink-blot test. An excellent example of the Rorschach in popular culture can be found in Watchmen, the comic/graphic novel written by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons (1987). In the mid-20th century Psychology had an especially contentious relationship with comics; some psychologists were very anxious about the impact comics had on young people, whereas others wrote comics to subvert dominant norms about gender and sexuality. Yet historians of Psychology have had almost nothing to say about this popular and critically acclaimed novel. We read Watchmen here for its narratives that most concern the history of Psychology. We focus on such themes as anti-psychiatry, sexual violence, homophobia, lesbian erasure and social psychological research on bystander intervention. We argue it is possible to align Psychology and comics more closely despite their sometimes contentious history. In doing so we demonstrate the active role of the public in the history of the Rorschach, and the public engagement of Psychology via comics, and also reveal what is possible when historians consider comics within their histories.

Muestra la etnografía del juego mortuorio “asnusqa”, [cuya traducción libre sería el burreo o el juego con burritos] Este juego se realiza en las noches de Todo Santos, delante del descanso armado en memoria del difunto y que simbólicamente se halla presente, así como en el velorio de los difuntos. Los materiales reunidos y expuestos, muestra elementos para una lectura de la concepción de la muerte en el mundo indígena andino, y su articulación y asociación a la historia de las comunidades indígenas andinas a través de dos agentes: el gamonal y el arriero, como evolución de su historia y cultura.
Dos personajes que gravitaron muy estrechamente en la conciencia de los runas advertidos a través de sus prácticas rituales y testimonios.
Este juego es una actividad de diversión y disfrute de los participantes y los parientes del difunto. Los juegos normalmente se diferencian del trabajo, pero en muchos casos estos no tienen una diferencia demasiado clara. Un juego es considerado en la cultura indígena andina como un ejercicio recreativo sometido a reglas y normas culturales, donde los muertos siempre están vinculados a los vivientes. Esto quita a la muerte su carácter trágico, aunque no la pena que le causa el fallecimiento de un ser querido (Van Kessel;
1976).

Machiavel partageait avec la culture de la Renaissance l’idéal de la renovatio culturelle et civile et une nouvelle conception de la vie et de la liberté. Bien conscient des contradictions de son temps, et même si son côté misogyne prévaut sur celui philogyne, il a conçu des figures féminines extraordinaires qui ont montré tout le paradoxe d’une société vouée à la recherche de la perfection dans la « mutation » entre la « juste mesure », la « grâce » et le bon giudicio. Sur la base des études de genre et de l’intérêt porté par la critique aux femmes chez Machiavel, nous essayons d’illustrer ce paradoxe par une nouvelle lecture de ses textes théâtraux et d’indiquer ce que nous pourrions définir comme sa raison morale. À travers l’élément comique engendré par le renversement de la perspective, Machiavel contribue à une réflexion sur les valeurs immorales, ou amorales, d’une vie formelle privée et publique, conçue sur des normes anciennes, selon lesquelles les femmes, malgré leur valeur et leur éducation, étaient considérées comme des objets de la perfection scénique dans la vie de la société, dont elles ne pouvaient s’échapper qu’en s’appuyant sur leur propre intelligence.

La Constitución de la Republica de El Salvador cumple 40 años de vigencia en 2023. Es un texto cuya singularidad, tanto por el momento histórico en el que se produce, como por la serie de elementos que lo van configurando y moldeando merecen ser descritos. Me atrevería a afirmar, que más que el texto -que es muy típico de las constituciones de su época- es su contexto el que brinda a esta Constitución su singularidad. No muchas normas fundamentales en un país como El Salvador, han tenido una vigencia tan dilatada – de hecho, solo una constitución de finales del siglo XIX-. Dentro de su historia se encuentra el favorecer la inclusión como partido político de un grupo alzado en armas. Junto con los Acuerdos de Paz de 1992 y las reformas que estos propiciaron en el texto constitucional, podría considerarse como una norma clave en la formación al menos formal de un Estado de Derecho en El Salvador. Este artículo busca profundizar en el contexto en el que surge la Constitución y como esta ha ido moldeándose para permitir la transición democrática en El Salvador, con los retos y desafíos que ello ha implicado a la fecha. This article reflects upon how LGBTQIA+ Christians and their allies within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and its predecessor denominations ‘called the question’ on their right to and responsibility for membership, ordination, and marriage by simultaneously (1) practicing apologetic ‘ministries of presence’ and (2) grounding their ecclesio-juridical arguments in the church’s long-standing polity principles. It is commonly argued that advocates for full inclusion pushed the church to change historic norms, while ‘conservative’ voices called for the maintenance of time-honored principles. In an effort to problematize such reductionistic accounts, this article begins by sketching the historical trajectory of U.S. Presbyterian theology and polity, with special emphasis on the Adopting Act of 1729 and the tradition that proceeds from it. Building upon its survey of the debates that shaped the church’s history between the early eighteenth and mid-twentieth centuries, the text then shows how LGBTQIA+ Presbyterians and their allies acted within the traditional discursive patterns of their faith community when they advocated for the repeal of the exclusive policies that arose in the second half of the twentieth century. Inspired by the work of advocates and allies alike, when the PC(USA) and its predecessor denominations articulated an inclusive stance toward openly LGBTQIA+ members in 1978/1979, removed barriers to their ordination in 2011, permitted same-sex marriages within Presbyterian communities in 2015, and opened the church to receiving new theological insights from queer people via the adapted version of the ‘Apology Overture’ in 2016, the church’s collective discernment drew on historic Presbyterian principles of theology and governance to respond (often imperfectly) to contemporary challenges. The church’s multi-generational self-critique thus created a space in which queer Christians could ‘re-de-normalize’ their experiences of life and faith in ways that may open doors for post-apologetic reconstructive theological engagement in the years to come.

The paper analyses Paul Ricoeur’s concept of creative imagination and shows how this essential element of human consciousness determines personal and societal identity and how it can be a source of just social norms and of ‘good life’ (vie bonne). The imagination, which is characterized by semantic innovations and a heuristic function, creates a dynamic narrative defining a human being and opens as specific rationality surpassing purely argumentative rationality and allowing to solve conflicts of social norms. The ethical aspect of this process, implying a triple structure I/other/just institutiones, creates conditions for the realization of the dialectic of justice and love in the political space; due to the dialectic, innovative ways for the realization of social justice become possible. Critical questions intended to open up the perspective for further thinking are posed at the end of the paper.

AbstractIt is very doubtful whether Lk 6:5D goes back to Jesus, but two things are clear: (i) it suits a background lacking a firm common ethical authority, and (ii) for that reason it is repugnant to any who would enforce substantive norms. It comes early in the church's development, though it is no part of any gospel. Parallels at Jn 7:49, 9:41; Lk 11:52Q; and Mt 23:3 are worth comparing with it. In general it takes a position opposite to that adopted by Apostolic Fathers. The idea can be traced to Pentateuchal and Prophetic texts (but not via a Jewish exegesis); and so scripture still influenced norms (irrespective of apologetic). Former explanations of the verse are shown to be superfluous and misdirected.

La consultation des ethnotextes permet d’effectuer une histoire renouvelée de la dévotion à sainte Anne en Acadie, cette histoire vue d’en bas qui substitue à la théorie, la vie, et à la norme, la réalité quotidienne. En Acadie, certains membres de l’élite clérico-nationaliste allaient choisir en 1881, pour l’ensemble du peuple acadien, Marie de l’Assomption, comme porte-étendard de la cause acadienne. L’Acadie participait ainsi au processus de rationalisation de la famille des saints issu du Concile de Trente au profit de l’unique figure de Marie afin de favoriser une certaine forme de christocentrisme, plus franchement monothéiste. Dans cette foulée, sainte Anne, la plus populaire des saintes, a été peu à peu marginalisée. Cette sainte est indissociable de l’histoire du difficile passage du paganisme au christianisme au sein de l’Acadie coloniale. Véritable symbole du catholicisme dans le Nouveau Monde, la figure de sainte Anne s’est imposée comme la patronne des Amérindiens. C’est elle qui a eu raison du culte des ancêtres et de la dévotion au soleil. Ce lien entre la grand-mère sainte Anne et les Amérindiens sera souligné à plusieurs reprises dans de nombreux récits témoignant de la complicité entre l’aïeule du Christ et les « Indiens ». Cette parenté est ressentie si fortement par les répondants que certains d’entre eux iront même jusqu’à suggérer que « sainte Anne serait une indienne ». Si les Micmacs de l’Acadie coloniale l’ont accueillie comme une reine, c’est à cause de la suprématie face au savoir qui confère aux vieux, voire aux vieilles, un rôle éducatif fondamental et impose d’emblée le respect au statut de grand-mère. La représentation la plus populaire de sainte Anne qui aura servi de support à la christianisation dans le Nouveau Monde, c’est bien cette Sainte Anne au livre, mieux connue au Canada français sous le vocable de Sainte Anne éducatrice de Marie, qui a réussi à s’imposer jusqu’à nos jours. Mais la plupart des représentations de sainte Anne insistent sur l’évocation de sa vieillesse et, parmi les curiosités iconographiques qui demandent une attention particulière, nous retrouvons une gravure datée du XVe siècle intitulée : Sainte Anne est une sorcière. Or, c’est cette sorcière à la fois guérisseuse, sage-femme et jeteuse de sorts que nous retrouvons au sein du folklore acadien sous le nom de Taoueille. Véritable menace pour l’orthodoxie, sainte Anne, tout comme les récits apocryphes d’où elle est issue, appartient à ce savoir qui résiste aux discours dominants de la recta ratio théologique tout comme le folklore résiste à une certaine version canonique de l’histoire religieuse.

Teachers’ intention to adopt and implement curriculum reform is an important matter for success in achieving standards for education. Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics practices advocated in the current curriculum. In this research pre-service math and science teachers’ intentions to implement STEM activities are investigated through the general framework of Theory of Reasoned Action. The questionnaires are formed by the researchers with the interviews and literature related to the theory. 260 pre-service math and science teachers from a state university in Turkey engaged in the research. The reliability and validity indexes of the questionnaires had evidence for the usability of the instruments. According to the results of the study, pre-service math and science teachers’ attitudes towards STEM activities, perceived behavioral control and subjective norms had significant contribution to their intentions to practice STEM in their classrooms. Behavioral beliefs including perceived behavioral expectancy and perceived behavioral values were effective for explaining pre-service teachers’ attitudes toward STEM. Subjective norms were significantly predicted by descriptive norms while injunctive norms did not significantly contribute to their formation. Perceived behavioral control is shaped by perceived difficulties rather than perceived behavioral convenience for STEM. Overall, the theory is effective and suitable in explaining pre-service teachers’ STEM intentions and pre-service teachers had high intention scores for implementing STEM in their classrooms. Further research may concentrate on improving in-service and pre-service teachers’ perceptions via effective implementations related to STEM both for their professional development and their students’ development.

Réconciliant les deux acceptions figurées du terme, l’appréhension sensorielle de l’air de l’atelier permet aux auteurs d’incarner leur récit, mais aussi d’évoquer l’ambiance qui règne dans les différents ateliers et plus particulièrement leurs rapports singuliers au confort bourgeois et aux normes de la vie quotidienne. Ainsi, les descriptions sensorielles de l’atmosphère de l’atelier s’attardent en particulier à la température qui y règne, à la présence de poussière ou de fumée de tabac ainsi qu’aux vapeurs de térébenthine, émanations du travail du peintre qui se mêlent plus ou moins à des senteurs mondaines. Observer l’imaginaire de l’atelier sous l’angle sensoriel met en lumière de nouveaux aspects du travail des peintres.

AbstractThis article investigates developments in labour policies and social norms on gender and work from a colonial perspective. It aims to analyse the extent to which state policies and societal norms influenced gendered labour relations in the Netherlands and its colony, the Netherlands Indies (present-day Indonesia). In order to investigate the influence of the state on gender and household labour relations in the Dutch empire, this paper compares as well as connects social interventions related to work and welfare in the Netherlands and the Netherlands Indies from the early nineteenth century up until World War II. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, work was seen as a means to morally discipline the poor, both in the Netherlands and the Netherlands Indies. Parallel initiatives were taken by Johannes van den Bosch, who, in 1815, established “peat colonies” in the Netherlands, aiming to transform the urban poor into industrious agrarian workers, and in 1830 introduced the Cultivation System in the Netherlands Indies, likewise to increase the industriousness of Javanese peasants. While norms were similar, the scope of changing labour relations was much vaster in the colony than in the metropole.During the nineteenth century, ideals and practices of the male breadwinner started to pervade Dutch households, and children’s and women’s labour laws were enacted. Although in practice many Dutch working-class women and children continued to work, their official numbers dropped significantly. In contrast to the metropole, the official number of working (married) women in the colony was very high, and rising over the period. Protection for women and children was introduced very late in the Netherlands Indies and only under intense pressure from the international community. Not only did Dutch politicians consider it “natural” for Indonesian women and children to work, their assumptions regarding inherent differences between Indonesian and Dutch women served to justify the protection of the latter: a fine example of what Ann Stoler and Frederick Cooper have called a “grammar of difference”.

El presente estudio ha permitido conocer los factores más relevantes en el proceso de atención en salud que inciden en la calidad de servicios de atención que se brinda a las personas con VIH en consulta externa de Infectología del Hospital Roberto Calderón, en tanto se determinaron las características socio demográficas de la población, la satisfacción de las/os usuarios con el servicio recibido y la aplicación de las normas técnicas y estándares de calidad en el proceso de atención en salud. Es un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal con una muestra constituida por 137 personas y 9 trabajadores de la salud que diariamente brindan atención en el servicio. Los instrumentos utilizados en el estudio fueron: Una encuesta aplicada a las/os usuarios, un formato para recolectar información básica de los expedientes clínicos, una encuesta dirigida a personal del servicio y una guía de observación. Entre los principales hallazgos se destaca que 2 de cada 5 hombres con VIH que asisten al Hospital Roberto Calderón se encuentran en edades que oscilan entre 31 y 42 años de edad, en su mayoría son solteros, con altos niveles de educación quienes con mayor frecuencia trabajan y gozan de menor dependencia económica. Se evidenció satisfacción del 85% de los usuarios/as con la atención recibida en el servicio. La atención médica ha sido reconocida de mucho impacto para el mejoramiento de la salud por la mayoría de ellos. Las principales limitaciones en relación a la calidad de atención están vinculadas al cumplimiento de protocolos y estándares, principalmente los que implican el llenado de historia clínica y examen físico así como, la utilización de medios diagnósticos importantes en la toma de decisiones como el conteo sistemático de CD4, carga viral, perfil bioquímico y análisis para el diagnóstico de coinfección TB-VIH y otras infecciones oportunistas.Revista Universidad y Ciencia. Abstract The production of political talk is changing in response to ongoing changes in the overall media ecology. The rise of web TV challenges the previously dominant mediated politics of traditional broadcasting. In this paper we examine the practices of the mediatization of politics in the web TV environment via a humorous encounter between a self-declared “prankster” posing as a web TV broadcaster, and several Swedish politicians. The discussion reflects on various data emanating from this encounter to reveal how Web TV challenges traditional broadcasting norms, and offers fresh challenges for politicians who are continuously adapting to new media logics for exposure.

Cet article porte sur la première phase de formation d’une philosophie économique proprio sensu en Chine, dans les années 1910-1930. Parmi les économistes chinois, ceux ayant reçu une éducation à l’économie occidentale appliquèrent leur savoir tout neuf de l’économie moderne à réinterpréter la pensée chinoise traditionnelle. Ils proposèrent un cadre analytique neuf pour systématiser les idées de la Chine ancienne et concentrèrent leur attention sur les enseignements des sages Laozi, Confucius, Mencius, Mozi, et Guanzi. La comparaison interculturelle plaça des concepts chinois dans un contexte de pensée sociale et économique occidentale. Ensuite, on tira de nombreuses mentions et citations de nature « économique » des sages de l’Antiquité chinoise, pour les insérer dans la littérature universitaire en tant que tels, avec de facto un impact durable sur la recherche ultérieure. Cette entreprise intellectuelle préparait une histoire de la pensée économique chinoise comme discipline universitaire. Une lecture moderne des idées économiques de la Chine ancienne se liait à des questions de développement national. Les économistes de la période républicaine analysaient l’éthique traditionnelle des normes, les relations entre justice et profit, le contrôle des besoins et des désirs humains, les comportements de consommation, dans l’objectif de trouver les obstacles cachés retenant la Chine sur la voie du développement moderne. Ils soulignèrent les réussites de la pensée confucéenne, qui avaient contribué à jeter les bases de succès à venir. Les arguments critiques furent présentés en reconnaissant l’influence de l’éthique confucéenne sur la vie économique du peuple chinois. Le présent article se fonde sur l’étude des écrits d’économistes chinois de la période républicaine : Chen Huanzhang, Yuan Xianneng and Li Zhaoyi sont examinés pour leur exploration de l’héritage philosophique traditionnel, après avoir fait leurs études en Occident. Quant à Li Quanshi et Tang Qingzeng, ils publièrent leurs ouvrages sur l’histoire de la pensée économique chinoise en chinois. Une étude exhaustive de ces sources permet de reconstituer la démarche intellectuelle qui interpréta les idées économiques de l’ancienne Chine. L’examen des origines de la saisie de sources économique dans la philosophie traditionnelle met au jour les racines de la pensée économique moderne en Chine.

Background: Women's historic under-representation in paramedic roles in the London Ambulance Service (LAS) has recently improved, and women and men are equally represented in paramedic roles. However, the gender balance of advanced paramedic practitioners in critical care in the LAS remains unequal, with women constituting only 15.1% of this group. Aims: This study aimed to gather the views of female paramedics to gain some insight into potential reasons for this under-representation. Methods: A feminist pragmatic approach was taken. Qualitative, open-ended surveys were distributed via internal social media and bulletins. These surveys underwent primary thematic analysis to generate lines of enquiry that informed semi-structured interview questions. The questions were then posed to a maximum variation, purposeful sample of six women from the LAS. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed and thematically analysed. Findings: Ninety-four women responded to the survey; six were sampled for interviews. The women varied by experience, clinical grade, age, work location and societal factors, including whether they were mothers and the number of children they had. A main overarching theme was ‘social construction of women and career progression within the ambulance service’. This was informed by three interrelated subthemes of ‘caregiving lifestyle’, ‘perceptions of self’ and ‘gender stereotypes’. Conclusion: Women in the ambulance service have unique challenges that mirror those in wider society. Social constructs may impose unconscious bias and pressures that prevent women from advancing. Organisational structures and the cultural norms of the LAS may require adapting to improve the gender balance of the workforce and therefore the service it delivers.

This article examines the Russian Supreme Court’s 2017 decision to ban Jehovah’s Witnesses as “extremists.” The decision will bring Russia’s anti-extremism law before the Council of Europe via the European Court of Human Rights. The article considers why this particular religious minority group became a test case by examining the unique beliefs and practices of Witnesses and their history of episodic conflict with the state. It also highlights the role of the Orthodox Church in shaping attitudes, popular and political, toward religious pluralism in Russia. In the Putin era, an increasingly illiberal rhetoric about totalitarian cults and traditional values connected nontraditional faiths to national security threats, a link made clear in the Putin regime’s promotion of spiritual security. Overall, the article argues that the 2017 ban signals the repudiation of European human rights norms by Russian governmental authorities, lawmakers, and religious elites.

Purpose – The aim of this paper is to propose an action-interaction-process framework to extend research on institutional entrepreneurship. The framework examines an actor's characteristics, interactions in an institutional context, and the process by which entrepreneurial action is accomplished. Design/methodology/approach – Via a sociohistorical archival method of narrative analysis, the action-interaction-process framework is applied to an exemplary case of institutional entrepreneurship – the case of James Meredith and the integrationist movement at the University of Mississippi in the 1960 s. Findings – The findings show that institutional entrepreneurs who maintain little power and influence over the institutional field must form strategic alliances to mobilize constituents and capitalize on the convergence of resources in the social setting. Practical implications – Through the process of collective action, institutional entrepreneurs can overcome resistance to change and displace inequitable institutional policies, while establishing new practices and norms. Originality/value – This research provides a stronger approach to examining institutional entrepreneurship and institutional entrepreneurs, the interaction between the institutional entrepreneur and the social context in which the individual operates, and the process by which inequitable institutionalized norms are reformed through collective action. This approach is useful to researchers examining institutional entrepreneurship or any area in which power disparity plays an important role.

Paru en 2014, alors qu’éclatait au même instant le mouvement dit des « tournesols » (太陽花運動 taiyanghua yundong ) à Taïwan, le roman La Guerre des bulles (泡沫戰爭 Paomo zhanzheng ) de Kao Yi-feng 高翊峰 a été interprété par certains critiques comme une fable prémonitoire des mouvements taïwanais de désobéissance civile. Dans ce roman absurde et fantastique, réécriture assumée de Sa Majesté des mouches de William Golding, l’auteur y narre effectivement l’histoire d’un bataillon organisé d’enfants prenant le contrôle d’un faubourg de montagne, en réaction à l’incapacité des adultes de régler les problèmes d’approvisionnement en eau de la communauté. Au-delà du rapprochement avec les mouvements sociaux insulaires, l’auteur posé néanmoins la question de la conception et de la subversion par des enfants des normes sociales. En m’appuyant sur une lecture de La Guerre des bulles , ainsi que sur le précédent roman de Kao Yi-feng, L’Asile des illusions (幻艙 Huancang , 2011) et son roman suivant 2069 (2019), où la question de l’enclos et de la perversion des règles de vie en communauté étaient tout aussi primordiales – je propose ainsi dans ce chapitre de discuter les désirs « hétérotopiques » (au sens de Michel Foucault) de réappropriation de l’espace et de ses significations tels qu’ils émergent dans la littérature de Kao Yi-feng, à la lumière du contexte taïwanais.

The perception of Turkey as a model of attractive country in the region has started to change in the recent years. In the first decade of the JDP rule Turkey was seen as an emerging power with its strong economy, improving democracy and inspiring foreign policy. However, the developments since the Arab Uprisings in the neighbourhood, Gezi movement at home, end of the Kurdish peace process, as well as coup attempt and subsequent de-democratisation harmed the soft power of Turkey. This study argues that the JDP’s understanding of democracy and democratisation has been full of flaws from the very beginning of its rule. The Turkish example shows that countries can experience subsequent processes of de-democratisation and de-democratisation if governing parties did not endogenise the basic norms of democracy. Therefore, it is argued that the reverse wave of de-democratisation characterises Turkey more than the “selective” processes of democratisation. It is also argued that JDP elite via its discourse has been constructing the West as the ‘Other’.

The article aims to reveal particularities of cancel culture in politics and international relations using methods of sociology and conflict theory. Deriving from previous research of cancel culture, authors define cancel culture as non-institutionalized form of social control that is implemented through mass mobilization in social media. After informal pressure the formal punishment could follow against those who break norms or behavior expectations. As a kind of social control cancel culture could contribute to overcoming gap between manifested values and social practices, preserving social order and fighting elitism and inequality. At the same time cancel culture could be used as instrument of unfair competition, political struggle and suppression of opinions. Comparison of cancel culture cases in the USA, United Kingdom and Russia allows to conclude that the scale and effectiveness of collective actions depend on national context, different systems of norms and values and cultural practices to react on violation of values and norms.In politics and international relations cancel culture manifests as an addition to actions of formal political institutions, and it aims to undermine authority and reputation of a politician. It is important that in politics and international relations cancel culture is an instrument of informal control, which follows formal sanctions. Conclusions about the nature of cancel culture as an instrument of politics helps to understand better its functions in regard to attempts to “cancel” Russia. Cancel culture adds to formal sanctions and aims to isolate the country, to undermine its legitimacy as international actor. In regard to Russia the efforts are made to “cancel” it on two levels: formal – by sanctions and informal – via rejection to cooperate coming from various professional communities. In both cases countries and respective communities have their own understanding of norms and acceptable means and tools, and thus cancel culture becomes a toll of collective punishment. International relations lack universal understanding of norms and single center of political power, so that causes selective usage of instruments to impact, and thus cancel culture becomes an instrument of political struggle.
