Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe aim of this paper is to analyze how Brazilian trade unions are using social memory as a tool to build up workers' collective identities, in an attempt to fight the fragmentation resulting from the impact of the industrial restructuring of the 1990s. We will draw upon two ongoing programs conducted by the ABC Metal Workers Union (SMABC) and the Oil Workers Union of Brazil's state oil company Petrobras (Sindipetro). The SMABC and Sindipetro have recently been addressing the issue of workers memory with social and public projects. These projects are building up memories, which in spite of being institution-based are also collective, framed by the unions through the use of new types of communication and electronic media.

Abstract (sommario):
Current conditions in metal mining, increasing operating costs, lower ore grades, and deeper deposits, make it necessary to take technological breaks to allow for high operating and production efficiencies. In Chile, there are integrated operations centers at the project level. The implementation of state-of-the-art technology has encountered problems such as the lack of a business perspective co-constructed in a political-technical system that breaks with the rigidity of the usual criteria and practices. The resistance to the redistribution of power so as not to perceive these centers as an operational anomaly to overcome the preference to operate manually is generating doubt of their real contribution of value. A transformation cannot be imposed but must be co-created. The knowledge of the trade union networks opens to the company culture possibilities of action that, in the face of a paradigmatic change, emerge to constitute value. This work shows the knowledge strategies to turn unions into cognitive assets to achieve success in the implementation of COR.

Abstract (sommario):
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has established itself as an effective tool for identifying various objects in all human and business areas. There are many studies describing the use of this technology. However, scientific articles only marginally address the issue of recycling or reusing radio frequency identifiers. Radio frequency identifiers are defined as electronic waste by European Union legislation. This article deals with the environmental burden resulting from the use of radio frequency identifiers in a selected logistics centre and courier company in the Slovak and Czech Republic territories. The research and its relevance have become topical in the context of pandemics and with the increasing demand for products and courier services. In order to access the level of the above-mentioned environmental burden in a relevant way, an analysis of the circulation of transport units (pallets) and radio frequency identifiers in the selected logistics centre was carried out. The research results showed that the selected logistics centre generated annually 5.7 t of the e-waste from radio frequency identifiers placed on received pallets. The amount of 139 kg of metal was present in the e-waste quantity. The partial results of the research were applied to the e-commerce area. This article’s conclusion is dedicated to the characterization of possibilities of reducing the environmental burden from the use of radio frequency identifiers in logistics.

Abstract (sommario):
The advantages of laser and hybrid laser-arc welding in production of welded structures from high strength steels are increase of efficiency due to rise of the welding rate by order; significant (3 – 5 times) decrease of heat input; reduction of weld size; receiving of fine grain structures in the welds and the heat affected zone increasing strength of the joint and reducing susceptibility to crack formation. Research of the peculiarities of laser and hybrid processes, their effect on weld formation, revealing the advantages and eliminating the disadvantages of laser and arc constituents of the heat sources are currently the main problems for the production engineers and researchers. Therefore, the aim of the investigation lies in determination of the effect of process mode parameters of the hybrid laser-arc and laser welding in high-strength steel welding on formation of the structure of the welded joint metal as well as the analysis of effect of this structure on their mechanical properties. The investigation was focused on the high-strength steel N-A-XTRA-70 which is widely used in European Union countries for manufacture of critical structures of different designations. A laboratory bench was developed for experiments. It was used for carrying out investigation on the process flow sheet which provided location of a consumable electrode arc at some distance ahead of a laser beam during welding proceeding. The laser irradiation source was Nd:YAG-laser DY 044 of ROFIN company (Germany). For the first time the results of carried investigations allowed determining the process modes of laser and hybrid laser-arc welding for producing quality and sound welded joints of the high-strength steel from the point of view of the structure formation and metal phase composition providing high indices of mechanical properties and crack resistance of the welded joints.

Abstract (sommario):
In the modern world, the priority is the development of clean urban electric transport. The constructive solutions used in the construction of the tram wheel in the past years are outdated and do not meet modern requirements. One of these problems is the destruction of asphalt coating in the places of road coverage to tram rails, which worsens the operational characteristics of tram crossings. The reasons for this problem can be attributed to the following: Not enough asphalt concrete near the rails; low adhesion of asphalt and metal from which rails are made; dynamic loads and vibrations arising from trams and motor transport; bad base of tram train and others. One of the options for increasing reliability and durability is to use as a road covering of tram plates. This solution is used in Ukraine and the European Union. German company RailBeton developed solutions for railway crossings - BetoCross. This system is a modular construction of reinforced concrete slabs, which are pulled together by steel strips. With the help of a system of fastenings and bearings, the flooring is fastened to rails, which provides vertical and horizontal stability of their position and stabilization under the influence of loading. To reduce the dynamic influence, the plates are based on reinforced concrete sleepers through the intermediate layers of the elastostomer. The load from the automobile transport is transferred to the broken beam. In addition to the positive features, the BetoCross system, due to the large number of connections, ties and bearings, requires frequent maintenance and maintenance. The Ukrainian state enterprise "Starokostiantyniv plant ZBSH" developed a similar technology, reinforced concrete plates with the help of a screw fastening through rubber gasket fixed to a special bridge type wallpaper. At a step of wallpaper 0,6 m the plate is attached to each wallpaper from two sides, with the length of the plate itself is 2,7 m. that is, on one plate there are five points of fastening on each side. Loads from the automobile transport, similar to the German technology, are transferred to the rubble balast and the basis. These technological solutions have found their application on railway crossings, and need some improvement for use in urban electric transport. The article reviews the constructive decision on the organization of the mentioned site, which is proposed by RS ENGINEERING in Kharkov. In the proposed solution instead of the crushed balast used monolithic reinforced concrete slab with supporting elements. The arising loads from the rolling stock and transport are transferred through the supporting elements to the concrete slab, which redistributes them on the rubble basis. As a road cover are used reinforced concrete plates covering RS-Slab. The plates are divided into 3 types: Road, interroad and external, which in turn have several sizes. The plates are bound to the supporting elements by means of screws in four points. To reduce dynamic influence between the film and the reference element, a rubber elastomer is laid. Depending on the size of the plates have different number of cutting sites. Also because of the design features possible option when the slab simultaneously relies not on all the supporting sites, these options should be taken into account when calculating the scale and choosing a class of concrete. This solution allows to solve the problems of road surface destruction on the side of the rails, keeps more load from transport, compared to asphalt. At the same time, there are factors that need to be studied in detail when designing and before implementing the solution in mass production. These include: Investigation of the influence of violation of standard assembly plates on the stress-deformed state of the element; determination of thickness and acceptable physical characteristics of the gasket on the plate supports; detailed development of a node for fixing plates. The use of reinforced concrete plates as a road coating has a number of advantages before asphalt concrete: Resistance to destruction on the rails; installation regardless of weather and temperature conditions; resistance to loads from trucks. At the same time, this decision has certain peculiarities that require detailed study, which is a branch of further research.

Abstract (sommario):
In the new issue, our scientific journal offers you nine scientific articles. As always, we try to offer a wide variety of topics and areas and follow current trends in the history of science and technology. The issue of the journal opens with an article dedicated to the formation and development of natural history museology in Europe in the 15th–19th centuries. The development of scientific knowledge at that time affects the idea of the world order and the place of man in it, and the combination of knowledge with practical experience leads to the birth of true science. It is shown that one of the most important components of the development of natural sciences, in particular biological sciences, was the collection of naturalia (i.e. objects of natural origin), the rapid surge of interest in which contributed to the Great Geographical Discoveries. In chronological order, the further historical development of museum work from private collections in Italy to the formation of a prototype of a genuine museum, which performs the main museum functions such as amassment, storage and demonstration of collections, is considered. The article by Leonid Griffen and co-authors considers the object and subject of the history of science and technology, its place in the system of sciences. Today, more and more people are turning to the factors that determine the interaction of the society with the environment (productive forces of the society), to study which in the historical aspect and called a special scientific discipline the history of science and technology. The composition and development of the technosphere and noosphere are considered in the article. It is shown that the functioning of the technosphere is based on its interaction with the noosphere, which provides information about the environment and controls the effectiveness of interaction with it. It is formed by combining the mental structures of individuals through sign systems. The production process that ensures the functioning of the society begins with the noosphere, which through individual consciousness controls the actions of each individual, who through the means of production (technosphere) interacts with the natural environment. However, the gradual development of productive forces leads at some point to the fact that the information needed by the individual to perform all necessary actions for the benefit of the society, ceases to fit in his individual consciousness. As a result, there is a new social phenomenon the social division of labor. The cardinal solution to the problem is the prospect of humanity entering infinite space. The article by Jun-Young Oh and Hyesook Han is devoted to the study of what Understanding mathematical abstraction in the formularization of Galileo's law. Galileo's revolution in science introduced an analytical method to science that typifies the overall modern thinking of extracting, abstracting, and grasping only critical aspects of the target phenomena and focusing on “how”, which is a quantitative relationship between variables, instead of “why”. For example, to him, the question of 'why does an object fall' is of no significance; instead, only the quantitative relationship between distance from the falling object and time is important. Yet, the most fundamental aspect of his idea is that he introduced a quantified time t. Because, according to atomic theory, vacuum exists between an atom and an object composed of atoms or between objects – ignoring factors that interfere with motion, such as friction – the space for absolute time, which is a mathematical time, can be geometrically defined. In order to justify this mathematical abstraction strategy, thought experiments were conducted rather than laboratory experiments, which at that time were difficult to perform. The article by Vasyl Andriiashko and co-authors provides a thorough overview of the evolutionary process of the emergence, establishment, and development of the Kyiv school of artistic textiles. It reveals the influence of various factors (ideological, political, economic, and aesthetic) on this process. The historical and factual method allowed us to study socio-economic, as well as historical and cultural factors that contributed to the emergence, establishment, and development of the Kyiv textile school in a chronological sequence. It is established that the very fact of emergence of the Kyiv school of artistic textile, as a community of style, unity of forms, preservation, and continuity of traditions, had unbiased backgrounds since Ukrainian decorative weaving, a part of which is Kyiv weaving, inherited the abundant artistic traditions that were created over the centuries and most vividly manifested through the art of Kyivan Rus. In the next article, the authors Artemii Bernatskyi and Mykola Sokolovskyi is devoted to the study history of military laser technology development in military applications. For better understanding and systematization of knowledge about development of historical applications in the military field, an analysis of publicly known knowledge about their historical applications in the leading world countries was conducted. The study focuses on development that was carried out by the superpowers of the Cold War and the present era, namely the United States, the Soviet Union and the Peoples Republic of China, and were built in metal. Multiple avenues of various applications of laser technology in military applications were studied, namely: military laser rangefinders; ground and aviation target designators; precision ammunition guidance systems; non-lethal anti-personnel systems; systems, designed to disable optoelectronics of military vehicles; as well as strategic and tactical anti-air and missile defense systems. The issues of ethical use of laser weapons and the risks of their use in armed conflicts, which led to an international consensus in the form of conventions of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, were also considered. As a result of the analysis, a systematic approach to the classification of applications of laser technology in military products by three main areas of development was proposed: ancillary applications, non-lethal direct action on the human body and optical devices of military equipment, and anti-aircraft and anti-missile defensive systems. The author of the following article considered the front line transporter as the embodiment of the USSR military doctrine in the middle of the 20th century. The paper based on a source analysis of the history of creation, design, and production of LuAZ-967, LuAZ-967M, against the background of the processes of implementing projects of small tactical high mobility wheeled vehicles for the armies of European countries, shows that the developing, testing, and commissioning a front line transporter became a deepening of the process of motorization of the Soviet army. The designs of similar vehicles have been analyzed. An attempt to assess the degree of uniqueness of the front line transporter design and its place in the history of technology, as well as its potential as a reminder of science and technology has been made. An analysis of the front line transporter design, its systems, compared with its foreign counterparts, suggests that it is a Soviet refinement of the concept of a small army vehicle, a more specific means directly for the battlefield. At the same time, it was developed taking into account foreign developments and similar designs, imitating individual designs, adapting to the capabilities of the USSR automotive industry. The next article is devoted to the study, generalization and systematization of scientific knowledge about the history of the establishment, development and operation of the regional railway system in Bukovyna in the second half of XIX – early XX centuries. The authors attempted to analyze the process of creation and operation of railways in Bukovyna during the reign of the Austro-Hungarian Empire based on a wide range of previously unpublished archival documents, periodicals, statistical literature and memoirs. The article studies the development of organizational bases for the construction of railways, the activity of the communication network management, lists a whole range of requirements and tasks set for railway transport in Bukovyna, the progress of their implementation, considers successes and difficulties in this work. The purpose of the article by authors Sana Simou, Khadija Baba and Abderrahman Nounah is to reveal, recreate as accurately as possible the characteristics of an archaeological site or part of it. The restoration and conservation of monuments and archaeological sites is a delicate operation. It requires fidelity, delicacy, precision and archaeological authenticity. Research during the last two decades has proved that 3D modeling, or the digital documentation and visualization of archaeological objects in 3D, is valuable for archaeological research. The study has opted for the technique of terrestrial and aerial photogrammetry by 3D surveys of architectural elements, to develop an archetype of the deteriorated Islamic Marinid site (a dynasty between the 13th and 15th centuries), and the Roman site (25 BC), located at the Chellah archaeological site in Rabat and Salé cities. The data acquired build an architectural database to archive and retrieve the entire existing architecture of monuments. This study has been completed by photogrammetrists, architects, and restorers. The issue of the journal ends with an article devoted to the analyzing the prerequisites and conditions for the foundation of an aircraft engine enterprise in Ukraine. Based on the retrospective analysis, the prerequisites and conditions of the foundation of the aircraft engine enterprise in Aleksandrovsk, Ukraine, were considered. There was a severe gap between the Russian Empire and European countries in the development pace of the aviation industry during World War I. This prompted the Russian Empire to raise foreign capital, as well as attract technologies and specialists to develop aircraft engineering and other industries. By 1917, the plant had gained the status of Russia’s largest engine-building enterprise in terms of building area and one of the best in equipment. It is evident that the beginning of aircraft engine production in Aleksandrovsk relates to the establishment of a branch of Petrograd Joint Stock Company of Electromechanical Structures and the plant’s purchase from the Moznaim brothers. We hope that everyone will find interesting useful information in the new issue. And, of course, we welcome your new submissions.

Abstract (sommario):
All over the United States, phone companies are planting artificial trees. An old-growth, imitation pine has just gone up in the community of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, where it towers 100 feet over barns and fields. Holes in its synthetic brown bark admit bundles of black cables that travel up through the hollow metal trunk to the wireless digital phone antennas hidden among the plastic pine branches high above. In the desert near Phoenix, Arizona, where pines are scarce, another phone company plans to conceal its antennas inside a giant, imitation saguaro cactus. Evidently some large corporations are finally beginning to realize that the destruction of nature by their business activities is not accept-able. To improve public relations, they are now providing facsimiles of the nature they eliminate. This solves many annoying problems, but, alas, other difficulties have arisen. Copying nature is not as easy as it looks—it’s not like using a photocopier. If the phone companies don’t know this, somebody ought to tell them. I first became aware of the downside of artificial nature when I was living in Middlesex, New Jersey. To get to work at the university I had to drive through South Bound Brook, a down-at-the-heels little town nestled cozily between American Cyanamid’s huge organic chemical factory on one side and GAF and Union Carbide—also cooking up organics—on the other. True, the Raritan River runs alongside of South Bound Brook, and George Washington, an experienced surveyor who had seen many rivers, once described the Raritan as the most beautiful of all. But the river’s magic seemed to work feebly in South Bound Brook; my memories are only of floods, brown mud, and the occasional corpse of carp or sucker floating belly up past the dirty red brick of the aged factory walls. Then one day as I made my daily commute, I noticed an unexpected splash of color in the town. A popular saloon along the road I travelled had erected a very large plastic palm tree on the sidewalk next to the entrance.
