Abstract (sommario):
In the scientific study, an analysis and an attempt to make up for the historically lost time and at least partially return to us the real Ukrainian history of sports and the Olympic movement are carried out. Currently, many pages of the history of Ukrainian sports remain little known. One of them is sports competitions of the Ukrainian diaspora. Their organization required significant efforts, the involvement of specialists, well-known sports and public figures, representatives of state authorities, etc. The symbolic combination of the Olympics of the Ukrainian diaspora with the Olympic Games contributed to the development of the Ukrainian sports and Olympic movement abroad. In September 1936, a grand event in the life of the Ukrainian and American community took place in Philadelphia (USA) - the First Ukrainian-American Olympics or the «First Ukrainian National Games» under the patronage of Ukrainian-American organizations of the city of Philadelphia together with the Ukrainian Catholic League and the American Athletic Union.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Pioneering print collector and curator, Samuel P. Avery (1822–1904), donated a collection of 17,775 prints, including works by Cassatt, Whistler, Turner and Manet, to establish the Print Collection of the New York Public Library in 1900. Prior to his donation, Avery curated print exhibitions at the Library, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Grolier Club, and Union League Club. Through an examination of Avery’s persistent efforts to exhibit exemplary prints in museum and gallery settings – including an unusual collection of prints by women – this article provides evidence that Avery’s ground-breaking curatorial efforts led to the institutionalization of print display in New York.

Abstract (sommario):
The activities of boarding schools in Transcarpathia in the first half of the XX-th century were organized and carried out with the direct participation of the state, but the active support of such institutions was carried out by various charitable organizations. The purpose of the article is to study the areas of cooperation of boarding schools in Transcarpathia in the first half of the XX-th century with charitable organizations. Methods applied: search and bibliographic method exists for the study of archival and library catalogs, collections and descriptions; content analysis of archival materials in order to identify the retro features of the organization and the content of cooperation of boarding schools of Transcarpathia with charitable organizations; interpretation and generalization − in order to update and identify ways to implement constructive historical experience in the modern practice of institutional care, formulation of conclusions, recommendations. The formation and development of boarding schools in Transcarpathia in the first half of the twentieth century depended primarily on the educational and social policy of the states to which the Transcarpathian lands belonged. Also, the activities of boarding schools of the first half of the XX-th century were accompanied by the active support of charitable public organizations that operated during the stay of the Transcarpathian lands as part of both Austria-Hungary and Czechoslovakia, including: League for the Protection of Children (creation of boarding schools at craft schools; holding charity events; supporting families in difficult life circumstances; organization of children's rehabilitation campaigns); the union «Shkolskaia pomoch» /»School help»/ (cooperation in the field of education of pupils of boarding schools, actively carries out student actions); union «Nadiya»/»Hope»/ (guardianship of war veterans' children); union of church teachers (guardianship of orphans of parish and state teachers, assistance in teaching in pedagogical education institutions); union «Patronage» (care for single mothers); counseling center «To our children»(care for the health of vulnerable children); Masaryk League against tuberculosis (children's recovery). Coordination of the actions of this unions, charitable foundations, public organizations was established on April 31, 1923 in the town Mukachevo. This work was carried out by the regional branch of the State Committee for Youth Guardianship, which was opened in the town Mukachevo in 1923.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this paper is to highlight the position of John Bates Clark about the Treaty of Versailles and the U.S. approach to Foreign Policy in the aftermath of World War I. To achieve this goal, we analyze some unpublished manuscripts from the Rare Book & Manuscript Library of Columbia University and four pub-lished articles written by Clark between 1918 and 1919 about the consequences of the Treaty and, more generally, the future of Europe. The main ideas emerging from this material are that Clark supported the Trea-ty because he thought that given the threat of a resurgent Germany, only a League of Nations including the U.S. could be able to maintain world peace. On the other hand, he also criticized it because he shared with Keynes the view that the very harsh provisions imposed on Germany would generate another World War in the near future. Finally, Clark saw the union among European countries as a tool for preventing another war.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract: Reading psalm 5 by using poetic criticism reveals differing message with the methods used by lament psalms’ interpreters when reading psalm 5. The method of poetic criticism takes into consideration the lamentation of the psalmist, the feelings resulted from the lament, the psalmist understanding dan knowledge of God in the midst of psalmist lamentation dan the mood of the text in examining lament psalms. Applying poetic criticism to psalm 5 produces a message concerning God who hears and protects. The personal knowledge of the psalmist of God who hears dan protects radically changes the lament into joy. Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Introduction: Currently used molecular diagnostic tests for colorectal cancer (CRC) are underperforming and more sensitive, non-invasive biomarkers are needed. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) and microRNA (miRNA) have shown potential as diagnostic biomarkers. Unfortunately, the identification of non-coding RNA circulating biomarkers in blood serum is significantly burdened by abundant RNA specimens from disrupted blood cells. Recently, small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) emerged as potential reservoirs of clinically relevant biomarkers, including lncRNAs and miRNAs. In theory, sEVs protect RNAs from degradation and might serve as a source of intact RNA for further analyses. However, there is a lack of evidence supporting the superior quality of RNA extracted from sEVs over RNA from whole blood serum. This study aimed to analyze the RNA content of blood serum and the sEVs derived from the blood serum of CRC patients and healthy controls using RNA sequencing. Moreover, small RNA sequencing was used to evaluate the difference in miRNA profiles of sEVs and corresponding blood sera of CRC patients and healthy controls. Methods: Spin-column chromatography (Exiqon), precipitation-based method (Norgen), and size-exclusion chromatography (iZON) were used to extract sEVs from blood sera. The concentration of sEVs was measured by dynamic light scattering (DLS), the size was evaluated by electron microscopy (EM), and sEV-specific content was analyzed by western blot and qRT-PCR. RNA was extracted using the column-based method. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) analyses of blood serum and sEVs extracted from blood serum included samples from 10 CRC patients and 10 healthy controls for RNAseq, and 5 CRC patients and 5 healthy controls for small RNAseq. Differential expression analysis was carried out in R using DESeq2 package. Results: DLS and EM showed that size-exclusion chromatography yielded the purest population of sEVs characterized according to ISEV recommendations. Extraction of sEVs and subsequent RNA extraction and sequencing library preparation from ultra-low input samples were optimized. Over 30k different RNAs were identified in the sEVs derived from blood sera of CRC patients and healthy controls, including lncRNAs, miRNAs, and protein-coding RNAs. A detailed comparison of the transcriptome of blood sera and corresponding sEVs is a part of the poster. Conclusion: sEVs could serve as a source of RNA biomarkers; however, proper characterization and optimal methodology are necessary. Abstract (sommario):
Chapter 6 addresses Franklin’s inherently sociable nature, which led him to join many organizations such as the Masons in Philadelphia. He founded the American Philosophical Society, and the Junto, out of which emerged the Library Company. These institutions were based on high-minded discussion of ideas and provisions for public health as well as ordinary efforts to improve Philadelphia’s physical conditions. The chapter outlines the founding of the College of Philadelphia, the Union Fire Company, and the Pennsylvania Hospital, as well as the improvement of sidewalks, installation of streetlights, and the creation of a private militia. It discusses Franklin’s commitment to life in Philadelphia—another connection to Protestantism which started as an urban faith and in much of its early development depended on institutions and churches located in cities.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract In the first part of the nineteenth century-even after slavery had been put on the road to extinction in the North-a number of great Southern planters resided in Pennsylvania, New York, and Rhode Island, and married into the top stratum of Northern society. Charles Izard Manigault was an offshoot of this transsectional alliance, his maternal grandfather, Ralph Izard (who later became a U.S. senator from South Carolina), having married into New York’s well-known DeLancey family (see genealogical table 4). Margaret Izard, the eldest child of this union, spent twelve impressionable early years in Europe,1 and she wrote and spoke French as fluently as English. Unusually well educated, she implanted a French-speaking tradition so firmly into the family of her husband Gabriel Manigault II that their son Charles Manigault and their grandson Louis Manigault both cherished it. Margaret Izard Manigault regarded herself (through her DeLancey mother) as a Northern woman; and finding Charleston dull, she finally persuaded her husband to move to the North in 1805. The family soon acquired an estate north of Philadelphia. And from about 1809 until her death in 1824, Margaret established a free-thinking salon in Philadel-phia itself-her winter residence there becoming (according to a contemporary) “the resort ofall the [city’s] intellectual and refined society. [The orthodox in Philadelphia considered her] to have had no very good influence on the religious sentiments of her entourage.” Her son Charles Manigault further unsettled matters when, upon returning from South America in 1823, he introduced a “Spanish dance ... , the first insinuation of the waltz into [Philadelphia’s] precise society.” Margaret bequeathed to Charles, her favorite son, her library of French and English classics; and he inherited from her his cultivated tastes.
