Abstract (sommario):
In recent years, users of satellite networks is increasing, and users of learning hidden and the effects of the unconscious as a result of the use of satellite data to be transferred is limited. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of unconscious influences satellite networks in changing the attitude of the satellite was done. This research is quasi-experimental pretest - post-test with control group. The study population consisted of all parents participating in the Parents Community School District 2 city Safashahr school year was 92%. For this purpose, 30 female users of of 90-minute experimental satellites were trained on the unconscious effects. Subjects in both groups at the beginning and end of the study using a questionnaire approach were tested using satellites. To analyze the data, analysis of covariance was used. The results of analysis of covariance showed the effects of unconscious cause’s negative attitude of the satellite. So we can unconsciously influence the teaching and learning process in the use of satellites may be hidden causing a negative attitude towards the use of satellites.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe hypothesis of unconscious influences on complex behavior is observationally equivalent to the dissociability of cognition and metacognition (reportability). The target article convincingly argues that evidence for unconscious influence is limited by the quality of the metacognitive measure used. However, it understates the empirical evidence for unconscious influences and overlooks considerations of cognitive architecture that make cognitive/metacognitive dissociations likely.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractIn this commentary, we focus on the role of attentional mechanisms in unconscious thought. We argue that even distracted or unconscious thought is capacity limited and differences in scope of attention influence processing during unconscious thought. Attention also would influence processes at different stages in the proposed lens model. We conclude that there is a clear need to understand the role of attention to better understand conscious or unconscious thought.

Abstract (sommario):
In this article, the author critically examines The New York Times ( NYT) representation of the Israel–Palestine conflict in the recent political contexts presented by US President Obama’s Cairo speech in 2009 and leader of West Bank, President Mahmoud Abbas’s, imminent claim to nationhood at the UN in 2011. The purpose of the case study is to establish a theoretical framework for the connection between media representation of conflicts and influence on intercultural communication and relations between various cultural groups. The analysis of the editorials, op-eds, and letters to the editor reveals that media representation of conflicts has deep implications for intercultural communication and relations, that representational politics allows for overrepresentation of dominant groups in the Israel–Palestine conflict context, that discursive use of conflict terms like ‘peace,’ ‘victim,’ etc., constructs particular identities that privilege dominant groups, and that there is unconscious projection of cultural expectations of the dominant groups in the discursive representation of the conflict.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractWe propose the Selfish Goal model, which holds that a person's behavior is driven by psychological processes called goals that guide his or her behavior, at times in contradictory directions. Goals can operate both consciously and unconsciously, and when activated they can trigger downstream effects on a person's information processing and behavioral possibilities that promote only the attainment of goal end-states (and not necessarily the overall interests of the individual). Hence, goals influence a person as if the goals themselves were selfish and interested only in their own completion. We argue that there is an evolutionary basis to believe that conscious goals evolved from unconscious and selfish forms of pursuit. This theoretical framework predicts the existence of unconscious goal processes capable of guiding behavior in the absence of conscious awareness and control (the automaticity principle), the ability of the most motivating or active goal to constrain a person's information processing and behavior toward successful completion of that goal (the reconfiguration principle), structural similarities between conscious and unconscious goal pursuit (the similarity principle), and goal influences that produce apparent inconsistencies or counterintuitive behaviors in a person's behavior extended over time (the inconsistency principle). Thus, we argue that a person's behaviors are indirectly selected at the goal level but expressed (and comprehended) at the individual level.

Abstract (sommario):
This study examined the media's influence on 147 college students' views of death. Utilizing the revised Collett-Lester Fear of Death Scale, the Incomplete Sentence Blank task, the NEO Five-Factor Inventory measure of Anxiety, the Byrne Repression-Sensitization Scale, and the Media Consumption Scale, a series of MANCOVAs indicated that greater death anxiety was related to the portrayal of group deaths in the media. Results indicated that in some cases, general references to death by the media may bring death fears into consciousness and have no effect on the unconscious, yet specific, real-life examples may increase both unconscious and conscious death fears. In general, conscious and unconscious death fears increased with greater death related media exposure.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper delves into the concepts of consciousness, sub-consciousness, and unconscious mind, as well as Id, ego, and superego levels of mind, defense mechanisms, and educational implications of Freudian theory. The main purpose of this paper is to introduce Freud's psychoanalytic theory and to search for the educational implications of psychoanalysis theory in the present Nepalese context. Freudian theory studies how potent inner forces of "libido" and psychic energy influence human behaviour. Two types of instincts: life instinct or sex/Eros and death instincts aggression/Thanatos, lead an individual's behaviour. This paper introduces psychosexual stages. The unconscious mind continues to influence human behavior, even though we are unaware of these underlying influences. Most activities are led by the unconscious mind, which are mostly stressful. It can be reduced by defense mechanisms.

Abstract (sommario):
This article introduces the views of Yakym Yarema, the Ukrainian representative of the Lviv-Warsaw School, on the problem of unconscious mental processes and proves the direct influence of Kazimierz Twardowski on them and indirect influence of Franz Brentano. The first part of the paper analyses the framework of Yarema’s manuscript “The problems of unconscious mental processes” (1926). The second part demonstrates the background of Yarema’s views on the problem of unconscious mental processes. The article demonstrates that Yarema’s interest in terms of unconscious mental phenomena did not contradict to the tradition of Twardowski’s philosophical school, but was determined by the development of psychology as an independent science.

Abstract (sommario):
The article provides a theoretical justification of the personal and collective unconscious. The influence of archaic archetypes of the unconscious on the religious consciousness of an individual is described. Z. Freud’s orthodox psychoanalysis is compared with the analytical psychology of K.G. Jung. Freud’s works such as "The Future of an Illusion", "Totem and Taboo" and Jung’s books "Essays on the Psychology of the Unconscious", "An Attempt at a Psychological Interpretation of the Dogma of the Trinity", "Psychology and Religion" are considered. The significance of religion contributing to the individuation of personality is analyzed.

Abstract (sommario):
Past research has examined the many ways individuals behave in response to unconscious primes. For instance, unconsciously activating stereotypes leads people to exhibit behavior that parallels the target stereotype (e.g., Bargh, Chen, & Burrows, 1996; Dijksterhuis & van Knippenberg, 1998). Priming methodology has also been extended to inducing mortality salience, such that specific behaviors emerge in response to thinking about one’s own death. Two theories, socioemotional selectivity theory and terror management theory, hypothesize how individuals cope with thoughts about the end of life. The present study attempted to extend past research by comparing older and younger adults’ responses to unconscious mortality salience. Fifty-nine younger adults and 52 older adults were randomly assigned to one of two prime conditions: death prime or negative prime. The unconscious primes were administered through word searches, which contained 20 target words related to each prime. Defenses to the primes were assessed via suitability ratings and reaction times to a picture-caption task, which contained both neutral and emotional (positive and negative) captions paired with neutral pictures. A defense was operationalized as higher suitability ratings and faster reaction times to the positive captions, as well as lower suitability ratings and slower reaction times to the negative captions. Based on terror management theory, it was expected that individuals who were primed with death would display specific defensive behavioral responses as compared to those who were primed with negativity, regardless of age. Socioemotional selectivity theory, however, predicts that these defenses may also emerge when older adults are primed with negativity due to the increased tendency for older adults, relative to younger adults, to automatically implement default emotion regulatory goals. Analyses revealed that both younger and older adults embraced the neutral and positive captions after being primed with death. Participants primed with negativity were also more likely to embrace positivity. Age differences emerged such that younger adults were faster when reacting to emotional captions in the death condition than in the negative condition. Conversely, older adults primed with negativity reacted faster to emotional captions than those primed with death. Implications for terror management theory and socioemotional selectivity theory are discussed. Overall, both young and older adults displayed defenses to prime-activated threats of death and negativity. The implementation of death-related defenses was stronger for younger adults than the implementation of negativity-related defenses, but the opposite was true for older adults.

Our sense of smell is perhaps the most pervasive of all senses, as it has the ability to evoke memories and emotions in a vivid and subtle manner. While olfactory communication is one of the most basic methods of communication, it is also one of the least understood and one of the least exploited in human computer interaction. In this thesis we describe the hidden power of scent along with the design and implementation of "Essence", a custom made olfactory wearable device and its stationary version. Essence is a necklace that can be used by any person in their daily life for the purpose of altering one's mood, as well as affecting cognitive and psychological conditions. It can influence the user's behavior through consciously perceivable as well as subliminal bursts of scent released while the person is asleep or awake. The device can be remotely controlled through a smartphone and can vary the intensity and frequency of the released scent. The system can also potentially be triggered by physiological data such as brain signals, heart rate, or galvanic skin response, etc. The types of scent that can be placed in the necklace can range from essential oils to odorless scents like hormones and pheromones. We conducted a set of preliminary studies that show an overall satisfaction, comfort and ease of use of the system. We also demonstrate the effectiveness for mood enhancing and cognitive performance during wakefulness and sleep state.

Abstract (sommario):
Personality measures were predicted to be susceptible to response distortion above and beyond volitional strategies of impression management. A 2 (Instruction Set) x 2 (Personality Feedback) x 2 (Mortality Salience) factorial design addressed social desirability biases in responding to personality measures. There were significant changes in all measures due to volitional (Fake Good) strategies. Thoughts of death lead to decreased distortion, but only on the measures sensitive to social desirability bias. Mortality Salience interacted with personality feedback, such that test responses were distorted in the opposite direction of the feedback, supporting Optimal Distinctiveness Theory. A significant interaction between Mortality Salience and Instruction Set suggests further attention be given to unconscious distortion in personality scores and that Terror Management Theory incorporate further research on individual differences.

Abstract (sommario):
In the response priming paradigm, a small briefly presented visual stimulus (i.e., prime) is followed by a larger visible stimulus (i.e., mask) that renders the prime invisible and specifies the target location. According to the rapid-chase theory, the initial portion of the movement is dictated by the prime (initiation criterion) while the later portion is dictated by the mask (takeover criterion) and the prime is initially processed independently from the mask (independence criterion). The purpose of the first experiment was to determine if the processing of the prime and mask fit the predictions of the rapid-chase theory when the prime and mask are presented during an ongoing movement. The second experiment was designed to examine the impact of the prime when it is presented at various times throughout the execution of the movement. Participants initiated rapid pointing movements to a center target. On 1/3 of the trials, participants had to correct their movements to the left (or right) target in response to a left-pointing (or right-pointing) mask arrow, which was preceded by a neutral, left-, or right-pointing prime arrow. In Experiment 1, the prime was presented at movement onset and the mask randomly appeared 33, 50, or 67 ms after prime onset. In Experiment 2, the prime followed movement onset with a delay of 17, 33, or 50 ms and the mask was presented 50 ms after prime onset. In both experiments, participants first modified their movements in the direction indicated by the prime before completing their movements to the correct target in the majority of trials; thus, supporting the initiation and takeover criteria. However, the spatial priming effects did not follow the time course predicted by the independence criterion. Overall, the rapid-chase theory does not seem to apply to movement execution, but the prime is still able to influence the movement despite being presented later in the pointing trajectory.

Abstract (sommario):
This thesis identifies and explores a ‘return to Freud’ in the work of Jacques Derrida. Resemblances between Derrida’s method of deconstruction and the therapeutic procedure of psychoanalysis have long been a source of debate among critics. Is deconstruction little more than a psychoanalytic reading of the history of philosophy, or is Freud a Derridean avant la lettre? Revealing this dilemma to be a false one, this thesis challenges major interpreters of Derrida such as Jonathan Culler and Gayatari Chakravorty Spivak. By developing Derrida’s well-known yet little understood concept of différance, it argues that this dilemma stems from an inadequate understanding of Derrida’s treatment of time. The structure of temporality implied by différance entails that the meaning of the past is continually reconstituted in its relationship to an ever-evolving present. Far from dissolving the importance of Freud’s contribution, this structure allows Derrida to circumvent nebulous notions of ‘influence’ and ‘indebtedness’ while still engaging psychoanalysis as a key theoretical resource in his own project of deconstruction. A productive engagement with psychoanalytic theory is shown to inform every major stage of the philosopher’s career, from his early phenomenological work to his later reflections on the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Derrida repeatedly turns to Freud as a crucial interlocutor in interrogating a number of philosophical problems encountered in his own work. These problems include the nature of time, space, and memory; the role of the fictive in scientific discourse; the question of the archive; the interdependence of the psyche and technology; and the relationship between politics and the unconscious. At a theoretical level, this thesis provides a detailed account of Derrida’s notion of spacing, arguing that the unconditional belatedness entailed by différance calls us to a difficult, dual responsibility: both towards the legator of an inheritance (that is, towards the textual legacy Freud has bequeathed to us) and towards the unforeseeable future contexts in which this inheritance will require transformation. The discourse of deconstruction, it concludes, enacts a careful negotiation of these two demands.

Abstract (sommario):
Attitude and behavior change issues lie at the heart of much communication research. In recent years, in the context of commercial communication or communication for societal utility services, offline, researchers have been using the paradigm of binding communication often for scientific purposes, sometimes for the purposes of intervention. While these researches have led to a better understanding of the effects of binding communication on actual behavior and attitudes, little research has examined the reception and effect of binding communication in a digital environment. Using a mixed methodology (qualitative and experimental), with an essentially explanatory aim, our multidisciplinary research studies the effects of binding communication, associated with the theory of identification of action, as well as the psychosocial processes involved in reception and effects

Abstract (sommario):
Previous research has examined a variety of behavioural effects, thought to stem from mental exhaustion, following the prior use of inhibitory control. Here we attempt to examine whether such effects are apparent in unconscious behaviours. Chapter 1 demonstrates no effect of prior use of inhibitory control on subsequent susceptibility to subliminal priming of neutral (Experiment 1) and reward (Experiment 2) terms. Chapter 2 explores whether the prior use of inhibitory control influences the degree of susceptibility to an alternative source of influence, hypnotic induction, and provides the novel finding that inhibitory impairment does not affect hypnotic response. Chapter 3 utilises behavioural and fMRI imaging data to examine changes in a conscious facet of human experience often moderated by unconscious influences: emotion regulation. The results support a period of increased mood lability following a challenging inhibitory control task. However, we were unable to provide evidence of any underlying change in cortical activation and connectivity. Finally, Chapter 4 investigates whether this heightened mood lability following prior inhibitory control would also be mirrored in ratings of emotion attributed to positive and negatively valenced images (Experiment 1) and additionally, whether a mindfulness induction, previously documented to improve emotion regulation, would reduce individuals' perception of the degree of valence attributed to the same images (Experiment 2). Contrary to predictions, we report substantial evidence for no effect of prior inhibitory control or a brief mindfulness manipulation on subsequent ratings of emotionally valenced stimuli. Taken together the research indicates that mental exhaustion arising from the use of self-control appears to have no effect on susceptibility to unconscious priming, hypnotic suggestions, and no effect on the perception of emotionally valenced images. However, prior use of inhibitory control does appear to affect the degree of emotional lability experienced following music.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractRecommender Systems were created to support users in situations of information overload. However, users are consciously or unconsciously influenced by several factors in their decision-making. We analysed a historical dataset from a meta-search booking platform with the aim of exploring how these factors influence user choices in the context of online hotel search and booking. Specifically, we focused our study on the influence of (i) ranking position, (ii) number of reviews, (iii) average ratings and (iv) price when analysing users’ click behaviour. Our results confirmed conventional wisdom that position and price were the “two elephants in the room” heavily influencing user decision-making. Thus, they need to be taken into account when, for instance, trying to learn user preferences from clickstream data. Using the results coming from this analysis, we performed an online A/B test on this meta-search booking platform comparing the current policy with a price-based re-rank policy. Our online experiments suggested that, although in offline experiments items with lower prices tend to have a higher Click-Through Rate, in an online context a price-based re-rank was only capable to improve the Click-Through Rate metric for the first positions of the recommended lists.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractSimilar to the concept of general well-being for individuals and societies, researchers have proposed various approaches to the concepts of personal beliefs and quality of life (QoL). In this chapter, QoL is discussed from an individual, subjective, cognitive and behavioral perspective with a focus on personal beliefs. More specifically, we present stress management as an endeavor in which yoga and personal beliefs can be applied to improve QoL. Stress management is recognized as a major health factor influencing an individual’s QoL. Empowered behavior to manage stress is discussed using a four-step model (involving thoughts, beliefs, emotions and behavior), that describes how human behavior is shaped by habits formed through individual experiences that unconsciously influence one’s thoughts, belief systems and emotions. Interventions such as yoga and meditation lead practitioners to question and alter thoughts in ways that can lead to improvements in QoL. Studies have indicated that when yoga and meditation are practiced regularly, the body implements stress-reducing processes automatically and unconsciously when a stressful situation arises. Therefore, this chapter contributes to the literature by demonstrating how yoga and meditation intervene in the mechanisms by which thoughts, beliefs and feelings shape behavior, as have been detailed in recent studies. In addition to the implementation of yoga and meditation, the possible use of technology and other tools for the quantitative assessment of states as a means of facilitating self-empowered behavior is discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Beliefs influence perceptions, emotional reactions, and behaviors. Much intellectual activity is devoted to their acquisition and to protecting them from corruptive influences. Beliefs also influence the encoding and recall of experience, resulting in memories that tend toward consistency with what is already believed to be true. They have been an important focus of study despite difficulties in providing a precise and meaningful definition of the construct. Some have added to the problem by suggesting that beliefs also exist in the cognitive unconscious, and that such “implicit” beliefs have unrecognized but significant impacts on emotion and behavior. This notion is examined and rejected in this chapter. While implicit biases and conditioned emotional responses certainly exist, they do not constitute belief, which is a truth-testable proposition involving both content and a subjective probability estimate of its truth. An implicit belief therefore violates the normal sense of what it means to believe.

Abstract (sommario):
In his work How Children of the Preschool Age Observe Language, Gvozdev argued that a child of two-three years old could fix and correct errors in the speech of other people. At the same time, numerous priming-experiments built on the data of synonymous constructions of common language indicate that least frequency constructions willingly used by children in this age make the greatest influence on children’s speech. The aim of this article is to analyze speech behavior of a child who hears phrases with errors or receives a task to repeat wrongly constructed statements. Nobody has already studied constructions with speech errors in priming-experiments on Russian data. We analyzed the results of a pilot experiment on Russian data developed by non-native speakers of Russian from the Max Plank Institute for Evolutional Anthropology. There were 33 three-year-old children involved in the experiment. The texts included random deviations from both speech norms and frequency usage accepted in the Russian register of communication with children. Experiment results allow making some interim conclusions. The priming-effect on the perception of uncommon forms is low. Speech production mechanisms started to work when performing a task to repeat phrases heard by a child; that was followed with modifications of unusual forms, probably unconscious. Syntactic level (word order and choice of cases and prepositions) is least influenced by the prime. The previous speech experience also influences the ability to repeat what a child heard. The experience includes already formed grammatical representations of a certain child, the frequency of lexical units (including special contexts). While facing unusual constructions, the mechanism of evaluating the statement as “possible/impossible”, and “right/wrong” is launched which leads to its conscious or unconscious modification. Abstract (sommario):
This paper describes methods for testing and analyzing brain waves during the consumption of audiovisual content, carried out with 10 individuals, in order to identify patterns of unconscious emotions that can influence an individual’s decision, particularly whether they enjoyed a specific content and if there is a predisposition to watch it in a movie theather. This research aims to define user testing methods within an emotion identification system using EEG (electroencephalography), with the goal of assessing the accuracy and usability of the system in detecting and interpreting users’ emotions based on brain activities captured by EEG. This testing approach is crucial for validating the practical applicability of the system and understanding its behavior in a real-world environment with real users. It’s based on the Design Science Research (DSR) method and utilizes the Emotiv Insight EEG headset for brain wave capture, incorporating eye tracking to map individuals’ eye movements. For the tests, two questionnaires were administered. A preliminary one was used to gather participants’ psychological and physical states, and a post-test was conducted to collect feedback on the content viewed and self-assessments of emotional states. In conclusion, the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the techniques within the applied context, indicating progress in the evaluation of audiovisual content by reflecting unconsciously generated emotions and providing insight into the perceived content.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction This paper intends to propose a thinking about art and science as different manifestations of human culture. Objective and Method Goal of this paper, through analysis and observation, is to underline how art and science are interpenetrated so as to interface, inspire and influence each other. [1] (Arieti S., Creativita. La Sintesi Magica. Il Pensiero Scientifico, Italy, 1979) Intuition is what promotes and moves art and science. this is the basis of creativity and man, through him, supposes and glimpses reality by giving it shape. This work also intends to demonstrate how the artist is often a forerunner of sociocultural values (Fusco-Tomassoni) Topic This paper concerns mental mechanisms, which underlie the work of artists and scientists and show both an analogy between science and art, and their common origin with the elaboration of abstract thought and the sophisticated representation of the world. Conclusion In conclusion, if the scientific version of the world has significantly influenced art in general and, even more literature, the literary work of art, as Italo Calvino states, would be the map of the world and of science. In the same way art has influenced science, for example Gould, in elaborating the concept of "contingency" and its role in the structure of biological evolution, was inspired by the structure of the dome of the Basilica of San Marco in Venice. Moreover, art and science often capture the spirit of the times in unison and, especially the artist, can be a forerunner of socio-cultural values by sensing new realities, out of their own time, but in any case by making a synthesis between conscious and unconscious. A ciociarian artist of the twentieth century, a certain Michele Rosa, expresses the figuration of the unconscious and the irrational, he senses the historical and cultural development of peoples. through informal painting, in fact, this artist, anticipating the times, shifts attention to the negative consequences of pathogens, such as viruses, long before what would have been the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract (sommario):
Learning has always been governed by brain neurophysiology and psychology principles. This articles aims to address the non linear dynamic between explicit (learn about) to implicit dimension of learning (learn to be) in the new learning environments. The author explores the link between the symmetrical and non symmetrical traits of the essential variables presented in the new learning environments and their impact on the self agency as a key factor in determining both the depth of knowledge acquired and the subjective feeling of ownership and satisfaction during learning process. Although contemporary main stream of learning psychology research remains dominated by a conscious-centric model of the higher mental processes, neuroscience discoveries have brought new insights on the influence of the unconscious dynamics over the rational thinking. Different authors had presented the mental agency using three characteristics to describe individuals as "agents of their own thinking"; self-awareness, self-determination, and self-direction. But attribution beliefs are deeply embedded within cultural and familial contexts and are the mental unconscious representations of early transactional relations of the individual with physical and social environment. Drawing on Matte Blanco theory we analyze the key variables of formal and non formal learning environments (physical arrangements, communication means, instructional material, types of interaction, learning objectives) in terms of symmetrical and asymmetrical traits that in a optimally balanced mix can establish the emergence of self agency. As we previously mentioned, this is not only the key factor in making an epistemic step from knowledge to knowing but also a factor positively correlated with mindfulness.

Abstract (sommario):
Contemporary Russian socio-cultural, cultural and philosophical, socio psychological, artistic and aesthetic practices actualize the Russian tradition of rejection, criticism, undisguised hatred and fear of power. Today, however, power has ceased to be a subject of one-dimensional denial or condemnation, becoming the subject of an interdisciplinary scientific discourse that integrates cultural studies, philosophy, social psychology, semiotics, art criticism and history (history of culture). The article provides theoretical substantiation and empirical support for the two facets of notions of power. The first facet is the unique, not only political, but also mental determinant of the problem of power in Russia, a kind of reflection of modus vivendi. The second facet is the artistic and image-based determinant of problem of power in Russia designated as artis imago. Theoretical grounds for solving these problems are found in F. Nietzsche’s perceptions of the binary “potentate-mass” opposition, G. Le Bon’s of the “leader”, K.-G. Jung’s of mechanisms of human motivation for power. The paper dwells on the “semiosis of power” in the focus of thoughts by A. F. Losev, P. A. Sorokin, R. Barthes. Based on S. Freud’s views of the unconscious and G. V. Plekhanov’s and J. Maritain’s views of the totalitarian power, we substantiate the concept of “the imperial unconscious”. The paper focuses on the importance of the freedom motif in art (D. Diderot and V. G. Belinsky as theorists, S. Y. Yursky as an art practitioner). Power as a subject of influence and object of analysis by Russian creators is studied on the material of perceptions and creative experience of A. S. Pushkin (in the context of works devoted to Russian “impostors” by numerous authors). Special attention is paid to the early twenty-first century television series on Soviet rulers (Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Furtseva). The conclusion is made on the relevance of Pushkin’s remark about “living power” “hated by the rabble” for contemporary Russia.

Abstract (sommario):
Kansei studies refer to the more and more holistic consideration of the cognitive and affective processes which occur during user experience. In addition, few studies deal with the experience of the designers during the design process, and its influence on the final design outputs. Historically kansei engineering has been firstly focused on the semantic differential approach. Afterwards emotions were integrated into kansei approaches. The semantic differential approach enabled to evaluate products and then to generate automatically design solutions with semantic input data. Thereafter, evaluations have been completed by physiological measurements in order to reduce the subjectivity involved in those evaluations and also to capture some unconscious reactions. This implementation is still in process. Today kansei studies have been much enriched from the three disciplines of design science, psychology and artificial intelligence. The cross influence between these disciplines brought new dimensions into kansei approaches (multisensory design information, personality, values, and culture, new formalisms and algorithms) which lead progressively towards the consideration of a whole enriched kansei experience. We propose in this paper a description of the nature of kansei information. Then we present some major orientations for kansei evaluation. Finally we propose an overall table gathering information about kansei dimensions and formats.

Abstract (sommario):
The desire to better understand design cognition has led to the application of literature from psychology to design research, e.g., in learning, analogical reasoning, and problem solving. Psychological research on cognitive heuristics and biases offers another relevant body of knowledge for application. Cognitive biases are inherent biases in human information processing, which can lead to suboptimal reasoning. Cognitive heuristics are unconscious rules utilized to enhance the efficiency of information processing and are possible antecedents of cognitive biases. This paper presents two studies that examined the role of confirmation bias, which is a tendency to seek and interpret evidence in order to confirm existing beliefs. The results of the first study, a protocol analysis involving novice designers engaged in a biomimetic design task, indicate that confirmation bias is present during concept generation and offer additional insights into the influence of confirmation bias in design. The results of the second study, a controlled experiment requiring participants to complete a concept evaluation task, suggest that decision matrices are effective tools to reduce confirmation bias during concept evaluation.

Abstract (sommario):
A curriculum as a set of planned and implicit determinants that direct the educational process according to the tasks and content derived from the goal contains an essential characteristic, which is its hiddenness, i.e., implicitness. The hidden curriculum is based on deep-rooted and often unconscious notions that the individual carries with them, transmitting social norms and values. The term “school interior” refers to the term “hidden curriculum” because it can also influence the process of upbringing and education with its organization and appearance. It shapes the environment where students and teachers spend their time every day and, because of this, many educational processes take place in it. Numerous studies point to the connection of the motivation and activities of students and teachers with the benefits of the school interior. They highlight the advantages of a more open, flexible, and networked space compared to the traditional classroom organization. In the process of creating/designing the school interior, it is crucial to include all participants in the educational process, because in this way, an appropriate school interior is created for all activities, both of students and teachers, as well as of the local community. The aim of the paper is to investigate the relationship between the school interior and the experiences of students and teachers about the school. The results of our research indicate that there are certain differences in the perception of the school interior by teachers and students.

Abstract (sommario):
Awareness of emotional experiences, vicarious learning and values, in relation to teaching profession, had emerged as a core of interest in previous research. This case study aims to activate awareness of future teachers in several ways. It is about developing critical reasoning about learning from a complexity perspective: (a) training the ability to contextualize learning with their personal beliefs and values, (b) improving strategies to transfer it, and (c) accompanying construction of professional judgment. The intervention is carried out during two academic years with students of Teaching Degrees in Saragossa (Spain). Learning goals and evaluation are maintained, but teacher-student and peer communication styles are modified. The key to the new methodology is to strengthen the personal and professional narrative in coherence with the subjects. It is a priority that students feel synergies between what they learn, their vicarious knowledge, their emotional memory and the vocation for teaching. After each semester, discussion groups have been held, obtaining 14 hours of video recording, with the oral narrative data of 215 students divided into groups of 5. Three emerging categories have been obtained (professional vision, professional development and appreciation of teaching action), and nine subcategories have been defined on a second phase of the analysis. During university education, there are memorable teachers who motivate action and career leadership, others who go unnoticed, and some who perform a negative influence. The reason is, first, in the unconscious inference of their pedagogical models; and second, in the feelings that have emerged during the time shared with them.

Abstract (sommario):
Operant behavior describes a type of voluntary goal-directed actions in animals based on the repercussions of previous occurrences. It develops when animals learn to specifically respond to recurring situations based on the outcome of their past experience. American psychologist B.F. Skinner was the first to use operant to describe the behaviors he observed in his landmark experiments in laboratory animals. Operant behavior and conditioning refine the nuance between conscious and unconscious behavioral responses, which influence psychology, and applied behavior analysis, and improve our understanding of addiction, substance dependence, child development, and decision-making.
