Abstract (sommario):

Abstract In this study, the air temperature and velocity component means were also computed, as were the fluctuation values of the three component velocities (u, v, and w) and the air temperature (T). The instantaneous velocity can be broken down into its tally of varying and time-averaged contributions using a process known as Reynolds decomposition. The Reynolds decomposition depends on how you define the mean. The results show that the behaviors of the u, v, and w diurnal cycles are anticipated in ABL. The best fit is for air temperature because the correlation coefficient between time and temperature is large. The component fluctuated around zero, and the sum of the fluctuation averages equaled zero. The fluctuation of u was large, which increased because of the initial value of u and because of wind direction and friction velocity.

Reactions involving lipase-catalyzed interesterification of lipids, which are of commendable interest in biotechnology, have been monitored and assayed by radiochemical methods using 14C-labeled substrates. Medium chain (C12 plus Cu) triacylglycerols were reacted in the presence of an immobilized lipase from Mucor miehei and hexane at 45 °C with methyl [1-14C]oleate. [1-14C]oleic acid, [carboxyl-14C]trioleoylglycerol. [1-14C)octadecenyl alcohol, and [U-14C)glycerol, each of known specific activity. The reactions were monitored and the rate of interesterification determined by radio thin layer chromatography from the incorporation of radioactivity into acyl moieties of triacylglycerols (from methyl oleate, oleic acid, and trioleoylglycerol), alkyl moieties of wax esters (from octadecenyl alcohol), and into glycerol backbone of monoacylglycerols and diacylglycerols (from glycerol).

Abstract (sommario):

A estrutura da comunidade fitoplanctônica da praia da Princesa (Ilha de Maiandeua) foi estudada durante um ciclo nictemeral nos meses de novembro/08, março/09, junho/09 e setembro/09, de modo a verificar os efeitos de algumas variáveis ambientais sobre esta comunidade. O microfitoplâncton da praia da Princesa esteve representado por 98 táxons, com predomínio das diatomáceas, seguidas dos dinoflagelados e cianofíceas. Nas amostras qualitativas, Coscinodiscus perforatus Ehrenberg se destacou como abundante nos meses de março (45,6%) e junho (45,1%), enquanto que a análise quantitativa revelou Dimeregramma minor (Gregory) Ralfs como dominante, principalmente, em novembro (82,0%) e setembro (83,0%). A biomassa fitoplanctônica (clorofila-a) foi significativamente mais elevada em março (U= 0,0; p<0,05). Os valores médios de densidade fitoplanctônica total foram significativamente mais elevados no período chuvoso (F= 6,2; p<0,05), principalmente em junho (1223 ± 110 x 10³ céls L-1). As curvas de K-dominância revelaram um declínio gradual na diversidade ao longo do período seco. A análise de ordenação (MDS) evidenciou a formação de três grupos, enquanto que a análise de componentes principais (PCA) mostrou a salinidade e a turbidez como as principais variáveis que definiram os componentes. A praia da Princesa é um ambiente dinâmico, onde os processos de ressuspensão promovem o intercâmbio entre populações fitoplanctônicas e fitobênticas. A elevada precipitação e o maior aporte fluvial, carreando elevadas concentrações de nutrientes, favoreceram o maior desenvolvimento do fitoplâncton, principalmente, durante o período chuvoso.

Abstract Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) etiology remains elusive, recently has been associated with von-Willebrand Factor-cleavage protein inhibitory antibodies. Plasma exchange (PE) remains the gold standard therapy, however there are some cases resistant to it. Rituximab has been proved useful in antibody mediated immune disorders. We report our experience in 3 consecutive TTP patients, refractory to PE and successfully treated with Rituximab 375 mg/m2 weekly x 6. Case 1. A 41 years old female diagnosed with Hasimoto thyroiditis 4 years before. In January 2003 she was admitted to hospital with headache, abnormal behaviour, 16x109/L platelets and 4–5% schistocytes. 47 PE sessions with a total of 235 fresh frozen plasma units (FFP) for replacement were made. Corticosteroids, IVIG and vincristine were added, but no improvement was achieved. Then, Rituximab was administered, after the second dose a complete clinical response was attained, and she remains well by now. Case 2. A 21 years old female was into hospital in October 2003 with bruises, paraesthesia, skin pallor and jaundice. Hb 6.5 g/dL, platelets 4.6x109/L, LDH 1223 U/L and 13% schistocytes. She received 24 PE with 96 FFP units, plus corticosteroids and vincristine, with no response. Rituximab was administered, after the third dose she experienced a complete response, and remains stable since then. Case 3. female, 35, she was into hospital in January 2005 with diarrhoea, vomiting, jaundice, seizures and bruises, Hb 4.5 g/dL, platelets 10x109/L, LDH 2486 U/L and 20% schistocytes. She received 43 PE with 129 FFP units and corticosteroids, but her neurological situation worsened. Rituximab was administered, after the first dose she experienced a complete response which maintains nowadays Conclusions: intense PE remains the gold standard therapy, it is expensive, scarce, and not free of secondary effects. In a group of patients refractory to PE Rituximab is emerging as useful safe option, it was very well tolerated in ours cases. Unfortunately, we were not able to test the vWF-CP activity and its inhibitor. Our results encourage us to use Rituximab earlier than the first case, in order to avoid too much PE, and now we are considering Rituximab as a second option in patients refractory to PE, but much more cases must be considered.

Abstract (sommario):

The Qin-Hang Metallogenic Belt (QHMB), an important metallogenic belt in South China, hosts Cu and W–Sn polymetallic deposits. The Tongshanling ore field in the QHMB is characterized by the coexistence of Cu- and W-bearing polymetallic deposits, which are related to granodiorite and granite porphyry. This study examined whole-rock geochemistry, geochronology, and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopes to determine the genetic relationship between diverse ore-related granitoids (i.e., granodiorite and granite porphyry) and Cu–W metallogeny in the Tongshanling ore field. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U–Pb dating shows that the granodiorite and granite porphyry in the Tongshanling ore field were emplaced at 163.7 ± 0.4 Ma to 154.7 ± 0.6 Ma and 161.1 ± 0.3 Ma, respectively. Geochemically, the granodiorites are classified as oxidized I-type, while the highly evolved granite porphyry is reduced A-type. The Lu–Hf isotopic composition of the granodiorites is characterized by εHf(t) values ranging from –10.49 to –4.99 (average = –7.17), with corresponding TDMC ages ranging from 1524 to 1877 Ma (average = 1682 Ma). In contrast, the granite porphyry has higher εHf(t) values (–3.60 to –1.58, average = –2.78) and younger TDMC (1310–1438 Ma, average = 1387 Ma). The εNd(t) values of granodiorite are −8.06 to −7.37 and the two-stage model ages (TDM2) are 1543–1598 Ma, while the granite porphyry has higher εNd(t) values (−3.0 to −3.4) and younger TDM2 ages (1195–1223 Ma). The results show that the granodiorite and granite porphyry were formed from partial melting of different Mesoproterozoic basement rocks under varying degrees of crust–mantle interaction. Granite porphyry underwent well-recorded fractional crystallization. Compared to the Cu-forming granodiorite, the W-forming granite porphyry has a higher differentiation index, higher crystallization temperatures of zircon (average = 708 °C versus 631 °C), and lower oxygen fugacity (median ΔFMQ = –2.21 versus –1.77).

The Bistritzer–MacDonald (BM) model, introduced by Bistritzer and MacDonald [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U. S. A. 108, 12233–12237 (2011); arXiv:1009.4203], attempts to capture electronic properties of twisted bilayer graphene (TBG), even at incommensurate twist angles, by using an effective periodic model over the bilayer moiré pattern. Starting from a tight-binding model, we identify a regime where the BM model emerges as the effective dynamics for electrons modeled as wave-packets spectrally concentrated at monolayer Dirac points up to error that can be rigorously estimated. Using measured values of relevant physical constants, we argue that this regime is realized in TBG at the first “magic” angle.

Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a eficiência fotossintética e o uso da água por plantas de clones de eucalipto submetidas ao herbicida glyphosate. O experimento foi realizado em esquema fatorial 4 x 5, com quatro clones de eucalipto (57, 386, 1203 e 1213) e quatro doses de glyphosate (43,2; 86,2; 129,6; e 172,8 g ha-1) e uma testemunha sem herbicida, considerada dose zero, com quatro repetições. Aos 7, 14, 21 e 28 dias após aplicação do herbicida (DAA) foi avaliada a intoxicação das plantas, e aos 7 e 21 DAA, o fluxo de gases pelos estômatos (U - mmol s-1), a atividade fotossintética (A - mmol m-2 s-1), a condutância estomática (Gs - mol m-1 s-1), a transpiração (E - mol H2O m-2 s-1) e a eficiência do uso da água (QUE - mol CO2 mol H2O-1). Aos 50 DAA, as plantas de eucalipto foram coletadas e colocadas em estufa de ventilação forçada a 70 ºC até atingirem massa constante. Aos 21 DAA, o clone 1203 comportou-se como mais sensível ao herbicida. Não houve diferença entre clones para as variáveis fisiológicas avaliadas. Aos 21 DAA constatou-se que, com o incremento da dose de glyphosate, houve redução na condutância estomática, na taxa de fluxo de gases pelos estômatos, na taxa fotossintética e na eficiência do uso da água. Plantas dos clones 1213 e 1203 apresentaram maior acúmulo de massa seca. O aumento da dose do glyphosate promoveu menor acúmulo de massa seca das plantas de eucalipto. O glyphosate afetou negativamente o crescimento e a eficiência fotossintética e de uso da água dos clones estudados.

Management of variceal bleeding secondary to portal hypertension constitutes a challenging issue, particularly in child's C cirrhotic patients. Recently, transjugular placement of self-expanding metallic stents in the liver (TIPS), creating a shunt between the portal and hepatic branches has provided a safe and promising therapeutic approach in this clinical situation. We report here the case of a 66-year-old male cirrhotic patient who developed a moderately severe clinical picture of a Coombsnegative hemolytic anemia (serum hemoglobin, 93 g/l, serum bilirubin 160.74 umol/L (9.4 mg/dl), indirect 6.3 mg/dl (107.73 umol/L); serum LDH 1220 u/l, reticulocytes, 5.1%. serum ferritin, 1221 ug/1, schistocytes in peripheral blood smear) the week after undergoing a TIPS, suggesting the development ofa microangiopathic hemolytic anaemia secondary to red blood cell disruption by passing through the metallic network of the stent.

The sluggish kinetics of the Oxygen Reduction Reaction (ORR) and the consequently large amount of platinum catalyst required for cathode material in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is today’s primary hurdle for commercializing fuel cell technology in automotive application.1 A class of carbon-doped with metal and nitrogen electrocatalysts (labelled MNC) is promising substitute for platinum-group metals (PGMs) in oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in PEMFC.2 Particular attention was placed on a specific family of MNC catalysts derived from 3d transition metal precursors with FeNC and CoNC being the most promising for PEMFC applications requiring high power density.3-5 In the present contribution, we report on a new MNC catalyst system, different by its chemical nature from all others catalysts previously reported as ORR-active in acidic medium. The highlights of this work are the successful design and synthesis of SnNC as a non-noble metal catalyst for the first time, and the finding that SnNC hosts Sn-based active sites that can achieve the same turnover frequency as Fe-based active sites in FeNC, and much higher turnover frequency than Co-based active sites in CoNC. FeNC and CoNC materials have, until now, been the state-of-art PGM-free catalysts for ORR in acidic medium. The present SnNC material shows also high and similar selectivity for the four-electron ORR pathway as FeNC, much higher than CoNC materials. The prepared SnNC catalysts meet and exceed the FeNC catalysts in terms of hydrogen-air fuel cell power density. The SnNC-NH3 catalysts displayed a 40-50% higher current density than FeNC-NH3 at cell voltages below 0.7 V. Added benefits include a Fenton-inactive character of Sn. Among other techniques, density functional theory and 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopy were used in combination to investigate SnNC, providing for the first time insights on the structure of its active sites, their rate-determining step for ORR and selectivity for the four-electron reduction pathway. Genetska raznolikost je osnova za prilagodbu i opstanak vrsta drveća u promjenjivim uvjetima okoline te predstavlja ključni uvjet stabilnosti i produktivnosti šumskih ekosustava. Predmet ovog istraživanja su glavne i marginalne populacije libanonskog cedra (Cedrus libani A. Rich.) zbog njihove važnosti u očuvanju gena. Procjena genetske varijabilnosti u izoliranim populacijama od velike je važnosti za programe očuvanja i poboljšanja. U uvjetima djelovanja globalnih klimatskih promjena populacije mogu posjedovati genotipove budućeg prilagodljivog potencijala. Cilj ove studije je utvrditi: (a) količinu prolina, za bolje razumijevanje stresa uzrokovanog nedostatkom vode u populaciji, (b) ukupnih topljivih proteina, MDA, H202, a-amilaze te (c) varijabilnosti antioksidansa kao CAT, SOD, APX i GuPX kod sjemena pet glavnih populacija (AND-Kahramanmaraş-Andırın/Elmadağı, POZ-Adana-Pozantı/Pozantı, ANA-Mersin-Anamur/Abanoz, FIN-Antalya-Finike/Aykırıçay and KAS-Antalya-Kaş/Karaçay) i jedne marginalne populacije Amasya-Tokat-Niksar/Çatalan (NIK) u Turskoj. Prema dobivenim rezultatima, značajna razlika je otkrivena među populacijama. Značajno veće količine prolina otkrivene su za populaciju ANA (7,46 μmol/g) i POZ (7,22 μmol/g), dok su najniže količine prolina otkrivene u populaciji KAS (3,98 μmol/g) koje predstavljaju optimalnu distribuciju libanonskog cedra. Ovaj rezultat pokazuje da su populacije POZ i ANA, u prijelaznoj zoni iz mediteranske regije do područja stepa, otpornije na mraz nego druge populacije. Najveća količina enzima α-amilaze detektirana je u POZ populaciji koja raste u optimalnom rasprostiranju libanonskog cedra. Značajno više razine H2O2 detektirane su u populacijama NIK (11,97μmol/g) i ANA (11,60 μmol/g), što ukazuje na veće razine oksidacijskog stresa u uzorcima sjemena iz tih populacija. Ovim istraživanjem potvrđeno je da su enzimi poput SOD, CAT, GuPXi APX koji kontroliraju razine reaktivnih vrsta kisika (ROS) u biljnim stanicama, elementi antioksidacijskog obrambenog sustava koji djeluju kao zaštitni mehanizmi biljaka protiv stresnih stanja. S praktičnog gledišta, poboljšanje pošumljavanja može se postići na stepi Srednje Anatolijske regije koja posjeduje značajane površine za pošumljavanje u Turskoj, primjenom šumskog reprodukcijskog materijala iz populacija POZ i ANA koje pokazuju veću otpornosti na stres, kao i populacije NIK koja je izolirana i marginalna.

The Sharbot Lake terrane of the Central Metasedimentary Belt in Ontario comprises marbles, minor tholeiitic basalts and siliciclastic rocks, metamorphosed at low to moderate degrees, and is intruded by several suites of mafic to felsic plutons. Gabbroic and associated monzogranitic phases of the Lavant complex in northwestern parts of the terrane yield ages of 1224 ± 2 Ma for zircon and monazite, and 1221–1211 Ma for titanite. The Wolf Grove structure, a gneissic domain in the northeastern part of the area, was migmatized and intruded by granites at 1168 Ma prior to its tectonic juxtaposition on amphibolites and marbles of the Sharbot Lake terrane. Correlative events recorded by gneiss, quartzite, and marble from Carleton Place farther east stress the strong affinity of the Wolf Grove structure with rocks of the Frontenac terrane. The 1156 ± 2 Ma posttectonic Maberly stock intrudes rocks near the boundary zone between the Frontenac and Sharbot Lake terranes, suggesting that the two terranes were linked by 1156 Ma. The distribution of U–Pb ages for titanite, monazite, and rutile throughout the area emphasizes the distinctive metamorphic evolution characterizing different domains of the region, documents the lack of 1168 Ma metamorphic overprint in western domains, records the main 1168 Ma high-grade event and slightly younger subsidiary events in eastern domains, and indicates local resetting events. The combined data underline the geological complexity of the eastern Central Metasedimentary Belt, confirming the existence of significant compressional and metamorphic events in the period 1170–1160 Ma.

GeoWEPP predstavlja geoprostorno sučelje modela iz Projekta predviđanja vodene erozije (eng. WEPP), kojim se predviđa produkcija nanosa i otjecanja pomoću digitalnih georeferentnih informacija integriranih s alatima GIS-a. Osim toga, modelom se može odrediti mjesto produkcije nanosa i otjecanja te moguća mjesta sakupljanja nanosa. U ovom je istraživanju model GeoWEPP korišten za procjenu produkcije nanosa i otjecanja u slivu rijeke Keklik, koja je smještena 12 km od Kahramanmarasa u istočnoj sredozemnoj regiji. Digitalne karte ulaznih datoteka koje su potrebne za model GeoWEPP generirane su pomoću alata GIS-a. Procijenjeni prosječni godišnji protok nanosa sliva iznosio je 34533,5 tona, dok je produkcija nanosa iznosila 44,2 tone/ha. Ovo je istraživanje pokazalo da model GeoWEPP može donositeljima odluka dati brzu i vrlo preciznu procjenu produkcije nanosa u velikim slivovima.

U radu je prikazana morfološka varijabilnost ploda 25 populacija javora klena (Acer campestre L.) na području Bosne i Hercegovine. Morfometrijsko istraživanje unutar- i među-populacijske varijabilnosti provedeno je na temelju 10 morfoloških značajki ploda, pri čemu su korištene deskriptivne i univarijatne statističke analize. Provedenim istraživanjem najmanje varijabilnim značajkama pokazale su se varijable koje opisuju oblik ploda, sa najmanjom varijabilnošću kod značajke odnos širine i dužine sjemenke. Za razliku od toga, za mjerene značajke ploda utvrđeni su viši koeficijenti varijacije. Najvarijabilnija značajka ploda u javora klena bila je dužina stapčice ploda. Najdivergentnije populacije obuhvaćene ovim istraživanjem bile su populacija Trebinje i populacija Rogatica. Za populaciju Trebinje utvrđene su minimalne srednje vrijednosti za pet od devet analiziranih značajki ploda, a za populaciju Rogatica maksimalne srednje vrijednosti za pet od devet analiziranih značajki. Analizom varijance ustanovljene su statistički značajne razlike između populacija za sve analizirane značajke. Isto tako, istraživanjem je utvrđeno da je unutarpopulacijska varijabilnost veća od međupopulacijske varijabilnosti za većinu istraživanih značajki. Odstupanje od tog pravila pokazuje varijabla F4 (dužina krilca ploda bez sjemenke) gdje komponenta varijance na međupopulacijskoj i unutarpopulacijskoj razini zauzima podjednak udio u ukupnoj varijanci. Provedena istraživanja morfološke varijabilnosti ploda javora klena u Bosni i Hercegovini predstavljaju pionirska istraživanja ove vrste, a dobiveni rezultati, temeljeni na morfometrijskoj analizi morfoloških značajki plodova, mogu poslužiti kao temelj za daljnja istraživanja.

Europski ariš (Larix decidua Mill.) pokazao je vrlo dobar rast i prilagodljivost ekološkim uvjetima u Bosni i Hercegovini. Cilj istraživanja je utvrditi varijabilnost morfoloških svojstava ariša na pokusnoj površini kod Kaknja, te varijabilnosti u početku osržavanja, kao i postojanje korelacija između ovih svojstava. U sjemenskoj sastojini ariša, osnovanoj sadnicama starosti 2+0 1979. godine, napravljena je trajna pokusna površina od 0,45 hektara i na njoj mjerene su visine i promjeri stabala 2002. i 2020. godine, te izračunate temeljnica i volumen. Stabla su 2020. godine bušena na prsnoj visini Preslerovim svrdlom kako bi se odredio udio osrženosti. Izračunate su prosječne vrijednosti svih svojstava. Zatim je odabrano po deset, pet i jedno najbolje stablo po svojstvima promjera, visine, temeljnice, volumena i izračunate razlike između prosječnih vrijednosti za deset stabala i ukupnog prosjeka, prosjeka za pet stabala i ukupnog prosjeka, te razlike između maksimalnih i prosječnih vrijednosti za istraživana svojstva. Također je izračunavat Pearsonov koeficijent korelacije između svih istraživanih svojstava. Prosječan promjer stabala starih 41 godinu bio je 24,6 cm, prosječna visina 21,8 m. Rezultati istraživanja osrženosti su pokazali da ariš prosječno počinje osržavati pri starosti od 14 godina. Pearsonov koeficijent korelacije za 2020. godinu pokazuje da postoji negativna korelacija između početka osržavanja prema svim ostalim svojstvima, odnosno stabla koja ranije osržavaju imaju veće vrijednosti svojstava rasta. Rezultati će biti korišteni u procesima individualne selekcije ariša sa dobrim visinskim i debljinskim prirastom i ranim osržavanjem.

In this study, four species of fiddler crabs (Uca) at Inhaca Island, Mozambique, were studied: their fecundity determined and egg loss between the first and last embryonic development stage evaluated. Ovigerous female crabs were collected throughout February to March (wet season) of 2006, during day-time at low tide, in Ponta Rasa (U. annulipes and U. inversa) and Saco (U. chlorophthalmus and U. vocans) mangroves. Average brood size increased significantly with female and species size, ranging from 932 (CW = 8.51 mm) in U. annulipes, to 18,057 (CW = 23.5 mm) in U. vocans. The number of embryos decreased significantly over the incubation period for each species. Brood loss from embryonic stage I to stage IV for U. annulipes, U. inversa, U. chlorophthalmus and U. vocans was 12.3%, 14%, 43.2% and 23.6%, respectively (P < 0.05). Positive allometry was recorded for all species in the early development stage, however, due to the higher relative brood loss in larger females (U. vocans), when comparing the number of embryos in late developmental stage, a negative allometry was possible to observe. The average volume of embryos at the same stage differed among species although significant differences were found between embryonic stages for all species. Embryo volume increased 96.1%, 93.3%, 92.9% and 96.3% in, respectively, U. annulipes, U. inversa, U. chlorophthalmus and U. vocans (P < 0.05). Differences in brood loss were attributed to habitat substrate and structure, stress factors and behavioural aspects.

Abstract The absolute total cross sections for the charge exchange between highly charged ions 15N7+, O7+, and atomic H have been measured with the ion-atom merged-beams apparatus at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The collision energy range is from 1224 down to 2 eV u−1, which covers outflowing hot components of astrophysical charge exchange plasmas like stellar-wind and supernova remnants. Good agreement with the previous measurements and theory is found for the collision energies above 100 eV u−1, while below 100 eV u−1 limited agreement is achieved with the available calculations. These cross-section data are useful for modeling X-ray emission resulting from the charge exchange at the interface of hot plasma interacting with ambient neutral gas.

The concept of responsibility accounting accompanies the concept of responsibility center which means that any authority given to a manager over a business unit must be accounted for by that authority, especially the authority in achieving financial targets, both revenue and expenses. The concept of responsibility center and responsibility accounting are management tools to ensure that the entrusted manager truly upholds the trust by exercising the given authority and must dare to take responsibility for that authority in the future. This concept also emphasizes that a manager cannot be held responsible by his superiors for more than the authority given to him. More than that, this concept aims not to let in the management of the organization, managers throw responsibilities at each other or "scapegoat" others to escape the responsibilities of the work unit they lead. One of the functions of accounting is a tool for financial accountability, indeed the study of responsibility accounting is part of the realm of management accounting, but in a broader sense, the financial accountability of public companies can also be called "public accountability accounting". In this section, the irony occurs, accounting as a financial accountability tool sometimes "slips" into a manipulation tool. However, research at the level of society-based economy practice seems to show that the light of responsibility accounting remains illuminating and can even be referred to as “beyond responsibility accounting", because accountability accounting is not only interpreted as a material aspect, not limited to accountability to interested parties but accountability is related to religious values, namely, all things in this world will be accounted for in the future to God. Vai trò của cộng hưởng từ trong dự đoán độ mô học của u màng não vùng góc cầu tiểu não. Phương pháp hồi cứu trên 46 bệnh nhân u màng não vùng góc cầu tiểu não được chụp cộng hưởng từ, phẫu thuật và có kết quả giải phẫu bệnh sau phẫu thuật tại Bệnh viện Việt Đức từ tháng 8 năm 2019 đến tháng 6 năm 2020. Giá trị của ADC vùng u, các dấu hiệu dự đoán u màng bậc cao trên cộng hưởng từ được mô tả, thống kê và đối chiếu với độ mô học trên hình ảnh giải phẫu bệnh. Kết quả: các u màng não có dấu hiệu hạn chế khuếch tán, ngấm thuốc không đồng nhất sau tiêm, viền dịch não tủy quanh u không đều, phù não xung quanh u, giới hạn u không rõ và xâm lấn cấu trúc lân cận trên hình ảnh cộng hưởng từ có khả năng được chẩn đoán là u màng não bậc cao trên mô bệnh học cao gấp lần lượt là 19; 10,8; 14,2; 14,2; 12,3 và 78 lần so với các u màng não không có dấu hiệu này. Giá trị ADC trung bình và rADC u màng não bậc I cao hơn giá trị ADC trung bình và rADC u màng não không phải bậc I. Ngưỡng giá trị rADC lớn hơn hoặc bằng 1,0 có ý nghĩa dự báo tốt đối với u màng não bậc I. Kết luận: Các dấu hiệu trên cộng hưởng từ và giá trị ADC có vai trò dự đoán độ mô học của u màng não.

Stočarska proizvodnja, kao jedna od najvažnijih grana poljoprivredne proizvodnje, se odvija na oko 30 % ukupne zemljine površine, te svjetsku populaciju opskrbljuje s 13 % prehrambenih potreba i troši oko polovice svjetske proizvodnje žita. Procjene o rastu ljudske populacije i dohotka, ali i promjeni životnih navika sugeriraju rast potražnje za proizvodima stočarstva. Prema podacima Eurostata za 2020. godinu, u Europskoj uniji (EU) poljoprivredna proizvodnja se odvija na oko 38 % ukupne kopnene površine, a u njoj sudjeluje preko 9,1 milijun poljoprivrednih gospodarstava, od čega se 24,5 % isključivo bavi stočarstvom. U stočarstvu EU dominira uzgoj svinja, slijedi ga uzgoj goveda, ovaca i koza. U razdoblju od 2015. do 2021. dolazi do smanjenja populacije svinja, goveda, ovaca i koza, što rezultira i smanjenjem proizvodnje mesa. U 2021. najviše svinjskog mesa je proizvedeno u Španjolskoj (22,1 %) i Njemačkoj (21,2 %), a ukupna proizvodnja svinjskog mesa je u ukupnoj proizvodnji mesa sudjelovala sa 53 %. Najvažniji proizvođači mesa peradi u 2021. su Poljska (19,2 %), Francuska (12,5 %), Španjolska (12,3 %) i Njemačka (12 %). U proizvodnji goveđeg mesa, koje je u 2021. činilo 15,5 % u proizvodnji mesa EU, prednjače Francuska (20,9 %), Njemačka (15,8 %) i Italija (11 %). U EU se najmanje proizvodi ovčjeg i kozjeg mesa, oko 1 %, a najvažniji proizvođači su Španjolska (28 %) za ovčje meso i Grčka (39,7 %) za kozje meso. Bazni indeksi cijena u razdoblju 2015.-2021. (2015.=100) ukazuju na rast cijena proizvoda stočarstva. Vrijednost stočarske proizvodnje je u razdoblju 2012.-2021. rasla. U prognozi kretanja poljoprivredne proizvodnje u razdoblju 2021. do 2031. Europska komisija (EK) očekuje smanjenje konzumacije mesa po glavi stanovnika, smanjenje proizvodnje i izvoza živih životinja u govedarstvu i svinjogojstvu. Promjena potrošačkih preferencija će rezultirati povećanjem potražnje za mesom peradi, ovčjim i kozjim mesom, te smanjenjem potražnje za svinjskim i goveđim mesom.

The Seal Lake Group of eastern Labrador unconformably overlies the 1273 ± 1 Ma (2σ) Harp Dyke Swarm. In its lower parts, the Seal Lake Group includes conglomerates, quartzites, and red-bed sediments, and both the lower and middle parts are intruded by olivine gabbro sills. This magmatism was coeval with the emplacement of basaltic volcanic rocks in the middle and upper sections of the Seal Lake Group. Two different gabbro varieties yield baddeleyite and zircon U–Pb ages of [Formula: see text] Ma and [Formula: see text] Ma, respectively. The older age corresponds to the emplacement of a fine- to medium-grained voluminous olivine gabbro, whereas the younger age was obtained on a coarse-grained gabbro that intrudes the fine-grained gabbro. These ages place magmatism in the Seal Lake area in the ca. 1270–1220 Ma phase of extension-related magmatism of Laurentia and Baltica that was associated with voluminous mafic dyke swarms. Such extension-related mafic Mesoproterozoic magmatism occurs on both cratons during three distinct intervals at 1460–1420, 1270–1220, and 1180–1070 Ma, respectively, suggesting that Laurentia and Baltica formed a coherent unit until at least 1180 Ma.

Taking statins can cause increase in the level of aspartate and alanine aminotransferase. The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of melatonin in counteracting the adverse hepatic events from statins. Methods. The research program included 60 patients (aged 47–65 years, 41 women and 19 men) with hyperlipidemia taking atorvastatin or rosuvastatin at a dose of 20–40 mg daily. The patients were randomly allocated in two groups. Group I (n=30) was recommended to take the same statin at a standardized daily dose of 20 mg together with melatonin at a dose of 2×5 mg. Group II (n=30) patients took statin with placebo at the same dose and time of the day. Follow-up laboratory tests (AST, ALT, GGT, and ALP) were evaluated after 2, 4, and 6 months of treatment. Results. In Group I the levels of all enzymes decreased after 6 months, particularly AST, 97,2±19,1 U/L versus 52,8±12,3 U/L (p<0,001); ALT, 87,4±15,6 U/L versus 49,8±14,5 U/L (p<0,001); and GGT, 84,1±14,8 U/L versus 59,6 U/L (p<0,001). Conclusion. Melatonin exerts a hepatoprotective effect in patients taking statins.

This study investigates the temporal change patterns of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) subsequent to chief executive officer (CEO) successions. Integrating prior research, we hypothesize that CEO successions lead to a change in EO and that this change exhibits an inverse U‐shape over time. Based on data collected for 67 CEO successions, our empirical results support our hypotheses, showing that successions effectuate changes in EO and tend to increase the level of EO in firms. Changes in EO peak in the second to fourth year of a new CEO's tenure, with less change before and after. We also demonstrate that changes in EO occur later but are more pronounced if the newly appointed firm leader is an outside CEO.

Combined mapping, U–Pb isotope dilution – thermal ionization mass spectrometry (ID–TIMS) geochronology and geochemical studies in Harvey-Cardiff domain in the western Composite Arc Belt reveal the presence of a long-lived magmatic–metamorphic history between 1290 and 1030 Ma. Following intrusion of gneissic tonalite of the Anstruther and Burleigh gneiss complexes at ca. 1290 Ma, diorite of the Salmon Burn intrusive complex was emplaced at 1242.1 ± 1.1 Ma. A potassium-feldspar megacrystic monzogranite in the Salerno Creek deformation zone that forms the boundary between Harvey-Cardiff domain and Bancroft terrane was emplaced at 1211.3 ± 1.5 Ma, similar to the 1220 ± 1.6 Ma old Junction pluton and a previously reported age of ca. 1229 Ma from another Methuen suite granite in the domain. All three ages are 20 to 30 million years younger than Methuen suite ages elsewhere in the Composite Arc Belt (1250–1240 Ma). Deformation along the Salerno Creek deformation zone is constrained between 1211 Ma, the age of the megacrystic monzogranite, and 1050 Ma, the age of titanite grains from the Salmon Burn intrusive complex and a late alkalic dike. A monzogranite of the newly recognized Catchacoma granite suite yielded an age of 1067 ± 3.7 Ma, similar to the 1059.2 ± 1.6 Ma age obtained from the Cavendish pegmatite vein. These ages suggest a temporal link between late granite and pegmatite emplacement in Harvey-Cardiff domain. Metamorphic zircon, monazite, and titanite ages fall into three clusters (1082–1070, 1063–1045, and 1037–1030 Ma) and may represent a protracted metamorphic event or reflect distinct pulses during the Ottawan orogeny.

Recombinant factor VIIa (rFVIIa) is a novel prohemostatic drug for patients with hemophilia who have developed inhibitory antibodies. The postulation has been made that hemophilia is not only a disorder of coagulation, but that hyperfibrinolysis due to a defective activation of thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) might also play a role. In this in vitro study, the potential of rFVIIa to down-regulate fibrinolysis via activation of TAFI was investigated. rFVIIa was able to prolong clot lysis time in plasmas from 17 patients with severe hemophilia A. The prolongation of clot lysis time by rFVIIa was completely abolished by addition of an inhibitor of activated TAFI. The concentration of rFVIIa required for half maximal prolongation of clot lysis time (Clys½-VIIa) varied widely between patients (median, 73.0 U/mL; range, 10.8-250 U/mL). The concentration of rFVIIa required for half maximal reduction of clotting time (Cclot½-VIIa) was approximately 10-fold lower than the Clys½-VIIa value (median, 8.4 U/mL; range, 1.7-22.5 U/mL). Inhibition of TFPI with a polyclonal antibody significantly decreased Clys½-VIIa values (median, 2.6 U/mL; range, 0-86.9 U/mL), whereas Cclot½-VIIa values did not change (median, 7.2 U/mL; range, 2.2-22.5 U/mL). On addition of 100 ng/mL recombinant full-length TFPI, a nonsignificant increase of Clys½-VIIa values was observed (median, 119.2 U/mL; range, 12.3-375.0 U/mL), whereas Cclot½-VIIa values did not change (median, 8.8 U/mL; range, 2.6-34.6 U/mL). In conclusion, this study shows that rFVIIa both accelerates clot formation and inhibits fibrinolysis by activation of TAFI in factor VIII-deficient plasma. However, a large variability in antifibrinolytic potential of rFVIIa exists between patients.

Twelve one-month-old rats (Rattus norvegicus) were randomly divided into three groups of four. All groups were fed commercial diet, 20 g/rat for seven days. In addition, groups A and B were given home made probiotic (curd), commercial probiotic (Bio-Top®). Total serum cholesterol in A, B and C was 91.6 ± 3.6, 92.1 ± 1.2 mg, 122.3 ± 4.9 mg/dl, respectively. Triglyceride in A (47.5 ± 16.4 mg/dl), B (44.0 ± 5.0 mg/dl) and C (146.4 ± 25.4 mg/dl) differed significantly (P<0.01). High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) in A (79.2 ± 0.4 mg/dl), B (80.5 ± 0.9 mg/dl), C (73.7 ± 1.3 mg/dl) and Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) in A (2.8 ± 0.2 mg/dl), B (2.9 ± 0.3 mg/dl), C (19.3 ± 5.9 mg/dl) also differed significantly (P<0.01). Serum aspartate transaminase (AST) in A (112.8 ± 1.4 U/L), B (110.5 ± 6.0 U/L), C (134.2 ± 3.5 U/L), Serum alanine transaminase (ALT) in A (31.7 ± 2.3 U/L), B (27.3 ± 2.2 U/L), C (40.7 ± 5.7 U/L) differed significantly (P<0.01). Creatinine in A (0.8 ± 0.1 mg/dl), B (0.7 ± 0.1 mg/dl), C (0.7 ± 0.1 mg/dl) did not differ significantly.
