Abstract (sommario):
Limited information is available on the factors that impact the flow of international tourists to Mexico, a top global tourist destination in the 21st century. Our study utilizes the Granger causality test in vector autoregressive (VAR) models to examine the potential causal relationship between international trade and international tourism flows with Mexico’s key travel partners from 2012 to 2020. Analysis of data from trade balance and foreign tourist visits to Mexico reveals a Granger causality linking trade balance growth to increased international tourist arrivals from the United States, Argentina, and Italy. Conversely, in the case of Canada, growth in tourist visits influences the trade balance between the two countries. No significant Granger-causality was found for the United Kingdom, Colombia, Spain, Brazil, France, and Germany. These results have important implications for the development of public tourism policies focused on addressing challenges related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose - The role of customer satisfaction in predicting customer loyalty has attracted a great deal of attention from academics and practitioners in recent years. However, there have been limited empirical studies on this topic, particularly in the context of Korean tourism. Additionally, since tourists typically come from diverse cultural backgrounds, they may present a wide range of subsequent attitudes and behaviors, even after identical tourism experiences. This implies that the relationship between satisfaction and loyalty may appear vastly different in different tourists. In this vein, the purpose of the present paper is twofold: (1) to empirically examine the association between tourist satisfaction and tourist loyalty, and (2) to explore cultural values as potential moderators of the aforementioned tourist satisfaction-tourist loyalty link, namely long-term orientation and cultural intelligence. Design/Methodology/Approach - Using the expectancy disconfirmation paradigm as a theoretical backdrop, the present study proposed and tested the research hypotheses. Data were collected from a web-based survey of 400 tourists visiting South Korea. Findings - The findings of this study indicated that tourist satisfaction with a trip was positively related with tourist loyalty. The findings further revealed that the long-term orientation of tourists positively moderates the tourist satisfaction and tourist loyalty relationship, yet this moderating impact of long-term orientation varies in accordance with the level of cultural intelligence of tourists. Research Implications - With the increased recognition of importance of tourism in South Korea’s trade, this paper enhances the current understanding of the tourist satisfaction-tourist loyalty link and provides important insights into tourism management.

Abstract (sommario):
Important issues in the development of regional tourism are the provision of tourist services, formation of the market of services and infrastructure improvement. The creation of clusters in the tourism sector remains relevant. From the standpoint of geographical science, the formation of tourist clusters is quite studied. The tourist potential of Khmelnytskyi region first of all includes the objects of nature reserve and historical-cultural funds available in the regional territory, which have not been involved in tourist activity yet. They are the basis for the formation of new tourist attractions, which can be used for the development of rural tourism, job creation, finding sources of income for newly formed territorial communities in order to obtain a positive effect from their formation. It is established that the synergetic effect promotes the creation of clusters with similar specialization. Determining the prospects of the tourist cluster of Khmelnytskyi region, special attention should be paid to such a form of tourism as rural (green) tourism. Extensive implementation of green tourism in the practice of newly formed united territorial communities in the region will provide additional resources to enhance their socio-economic development. Especially relevant tourist and recreational activities are in the buffer zones of national nature parks and landscape Regional Park, which are located in the Khmelnytskyi region. It is described that the material and technical base of tourism consists of: temporary accommodation facilities; specialized transport companies; tourist and excursion institutions and their subdivisions; information and advertising services; enterprises for the production and sale of tourist goods. Social infrastructure is also important for the organization of high-quality recreation for tourists: the availability of housing and communal services, cultural and household services, health care, and trade. From the standpoint of traditional economic and geographical complex formation, all factors of tourist complexes are divided into two major groups: socio-economic (labor, transport, trade and catering, souvenirs, city tourist development) and natural (geographical location, nature surface area, air temperature) etc. Many scholars, as the main social factors in the development of the tourist complex distinguish: socio-cultural: cultural-historical (architectural-historical) resources, settlement, administrative-territorial division; production and economic: labor resources, the structure of the city's economy, sources of environmental pollution, transport, land resources. Analysis of the location of these factors from the standpoint of social geography will justify measures aimed at enhancing the development of tourism in the regional tourism complex. Mass tourism is possible only if the needs of travelers in food and accommodation are met. Relevant facilities should have a range of hygiene and waste disposal facilities for tourists. Therefore, it is important, especially in rural areas, to provide in the plans of socio-economic development and general schemes of rural development places for temporary stay of tourists, appropriate infrastructure facilities, to reserve land for their arrangement. The analysis of the possibilities of Khmelnytskyi region in the tourist market of Ukraine showed that it occupies the middle places. This is due to the transit transport and geographical location. Within this region there is a clear polarization of tourism development, which determines the spatial features of the regional tourist complex development. Key words: tourist cluster, Khmelnytskyi region, green tourism, socio-economic development of the region.

Abstract (sommario):
Tourism is an important sector that can increase national income. Mount Ijen Tourism Area is one of the tourist destinations in Indonesia which is popular among local and international tourists. The positive effect that occurs is that there are business opportunities for residents around the tourist attraction, both in the service and trade sectors. However, the reality is not always the case, many residents who are involved in the tourism industry find it difficult to take advantage of business opportunities in the services and trade sectors, especially for foreign tourists. This is caused by several factors, especially the lack of ability to communicate in a foreign language when conducting service or commercial transactions. Improving the capacity of Human Resources in overcoming this problem is the responsibility of the local government. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative. From the research results, there are serious indications from the Government of Bondowoso Regency in optimizing the Ijen tourism object by conducting a comprehensive mapping of tourism potential. The Bondowoso government plans to increase budget allocations to the tourism sector with additional budgets which are expected to strengthen intensive tourism promotion efforts and have the potential to increase Bondowoso's own-source revenue.

Abstract (sommario):
This study aims to investigate the relationship between international tourism and total trade, including exports and imports, for the twenty most visited countries. In order to accurately assess the relationship, the study employs the Emirmahmutoglu and Kose (2011) causality analysis, which accounts for cross-sectional dependency and heterogeneity. The empirical results show a unidirectional causality running from total trade, exports, and imports to international tourist arrivals for Germany, India, Mexico, and the Netherlands. Conversely, the causality runs from international tourist arrivals to total trade, exports, and imports for Portugal, Russia, and Spain (except imports). Additionally, a bidirectional causality link between international trade and tourism is found for China, indicating that both tourism and trade mutually reinforce each other. These results highlight the importance of considering the direction of causality in the relationship between tourism and trade, and developing targeted policies that take into account the unique characteristics of each country.

Abstract (sommario):
Vietnam's tourism industry has been one of the economy's key growth drivers for years. This study examines the relationship between international tourist arrivals, bilateral trade, and income in Vietnam by applying a cointegration model with the panel data of Vietnam and its major global tourism markets. The results show that export and per capita income significantly influence Vietnam's international tourist arrivals from 2008 to 2019. The study also uses causality techniques to test for the direction of causality and found a two-way causal effect from exports and income to international tourist arrivals. These findings suggest that future economic policy should focus more on tourism and trade-related to sustain the growth of the tourism industry and generate more foreign exchange earnings for Vietnam.

Abstract (sommario):
The work analyses the existing statistical research performed by the National Bureau of Statistics and a proposal for new statistical research in the area of tourist trade. The introductory part describes the importance of tourism for Croatia's economy and stresses tire need for scientifically proper statistical coverage of tourist trends. What is of vital importance for statistical research is the application of uniform statistical standards allowing comparison of data at international level. The second part of the work deals with basic international statistical standards (classifications, definitions, methods) used in statistical research within Eurostat and WTO methodology. The third part gives an account of current statistical studies performed by the National Bureau of Statistics in the area of tourist trade, viz.: - Monthly report on guests and bed-nights, TU-11 - Report on guests and bed-nights in private houses and fiats, TU-11 v - Annual report on the capacity and turnover of marinas, TU-18 (revised research in 1997) - Annual report on chartered vessels for entertainment and sport, TU-18ip (pilot study in 1997) - Quarterly report on hotel, restaurant and catering trade, UG-11 - Annual report on private caterers, UG-1 la - Annual report on tourist agencies, TU-14 - Annual report on visiting foreign vessels for entertainment and sport, TU-17 - Survey on foreign tourists - Monthly report on the entry and exit of road motorcars, PAM-31 - International passenger trends in oad traffic, PAM-52 (over years) For a comprehensive presentation of tourist trends in all relevant aspects it is necessary to introduce new statistical research which will provide required indicators about the structure, content and extent of tourist trade (list of catering capacities, sight-seers, survey on foreign excursionists, survey on vacationers, survey on household consumption concerning domestic guests, etc.).

Abstract (sommario):
This paper studies aggregate inbound and outbound tourist demand in Europe for 1995-2015 with a new panel quantile regression approach. It employs tourist arrivals, tourist receipts and tourist expenditure. Besides real domestic income and real exchange rate, the demand is instrumented with environmental degradation and trade openness. Results show that tourism behaves like a normal good when tourist arrivals are used as a predictor of demand and a luxury good when tourism revenue is used instead. Conversely, tourism behaves like an inferior good when tourist expenditure is used. The results suggest that for inbound tourism in Europe to remain competitive, prices should be low to attract inbound tourism while tourism expenditure subsidization programmes should take place for European residents to be able to afford outbound tourism.

Abstract (sommario):
Cross-border posts have a big role in contributing foreign tourists to Indonesia, but until now the records carried out are still less optimal. This study aims to identify the potential for tourist visits through the Builalo’s Cross-border Post, so that the development of tourism that depends on this post can be further optimized. By using descriptive methods where data is collected through documentation studies, field observations, and interviews. This research has successfully identified that the Builalo Cross-border Post located in East Nusa Tenggara Province has the potential for foreign tourists to visit an average of 5.55 per day or 2,026 foreign tourists per year. Foreign tourist visits through this gate are strongly influenced by the Market Day which is held every Thursday, where that day always has the highest peak visit in 1 week, and it is estimated that the average visit on that day is 23.7. foreign tourist visits. Inadequate facilities and infrastructure are the most serious challenges in the development of Tourism in the area adjacent to this gate. Because visiting friends or relatives is another main goal besides visiting market days, it creates more economic activity (trade, festivals, etc.) and an increase in supporting facilities is felt very necessary. Abstract (sommario):
Tourism is significantly influenced by institutional quality. The strength of institutions is also important for the growth of tourism because poor institutions may inhibit tourists from entering a region. Over the years, there have been rare studies on the association between institutional quality and tourism in BRICS Nations by using NARDL. Using the NARDL model & institutional theories, this study looks at the asymmetric effects of institutional quality on tourist arrival in the BRICS countries from 1996 to 2021. The findings suggest that a gain in institutional quality will boost Tourist arrival for the BRICS countries to examine the interrelationships among variables both long and short run and NARDL shows a positive relation between the expansion of tourism in the BRICS countries. This study examines the asymmetric effects of institutional quality and energy consumption on visitor arrival. The long-run asymmetries between institutional quality, energy use, and tourism in the BRICS countries. Furthermore, the study finds that neglecting the series’ inherent nonlinearities may lead to misleading inferences. The policy argued that in order to increase investment in institutional quality and energy consumption, appropriate measures must be taken, including deregulation of economic activity, the development of The implementation of adequate regulatory frameworks and tax constructions, the development of port infrastructure, a road network, a rail system, and telecommunications facilities, the achievement of trade-related clarity trade-related adaptability and the expansion of the nation's infrastructure in to accommodate more tourists. As a result, recommendations for measures to improve tourist arrival, promote high-quality institutions, and stop environmental damage were suggested. Abstract (sommario):
The European Union’s impact on tourism continues to grow daily. Serving as a moderator, the EU converges the differing interests of the southern tourism-receiving countries (primary tourism growth) and the northern generating tourist countries (preventing environmental damage, respect for cultural heritage, service quality) through common tourism policies. A community of countries applying specific tourism regulations and standards, the EU fosters tourism development according to modern demand defined through new forms of the tourism offer and tourism management trends. EU members, in positioning themselves in the minds of tourists and in creating an image, have a great advantage over non-member countries, such as Croatia, which are accepted as minor destinations on Europe’s fringes.Although not an EU member, Croatia is aimed at approximating the tourist trade of EU countries. To facilitate its integration to the European tourism offer, Croatia must apply the experiences, solutions and standards of Europe’s advanced tourism countries.

Abstract (sommario):
The nonlinear interaction of oil prices, inflation, the exchange rate, institutional quality, and trade balance on tourist arrivals in Bangladesh is scrutinized in this study. The technique utilized in this study, Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL), is a novel co-integrating strategy. The yearly time series data used in this study spanned 1995 to 2019. The NARDL bound test is performed to assess if variables like oil prices, inflation, the exchange rate, institutional quality, and trade balance on tourist arrivals are co-integrated. Oil prices and exchange rates, according to the findings, have a long-run negative and significant impact on tourism demand, whereas improvements in institutional quality are positively associated with tourist arrivals. Moreover, the study’s findings revealed a nonlinear kinship between the trade balance, inflation, and tourism demand across time. The asymmetric results obtained could enable Bangladeshi policymakers to make more precise decisions.

Abstract (sommario):
Bali Province is one of the tourist destinations and there are also many wood carving crafts. The export level of wood carving handicrafts in Bali Province has fluctuated every year, the fluctuating export value of wood carving crafts is due to global economic conditions. This research was conducted in Bali Province. The type of data used is quantitative data with secondary data. Data collection was carried out through non-participant observation methods, which came from books, records and reports from related sources or agencies, namely the World Bank, the Bali Provincial Statistics Agency, the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, and the Bali Provincial Industry and Trade Office. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression using time series data from 1996-2019. The results of data analysis show simultaneously the US dollar exchange rate, tourist visits, length of stay of tourists, and the average tourist expenditure have a significant effect on the export of wood carving handicrafts in Bali Province. Partially, the US dollar exchange rate and the length of stay of tourists have a negative effect, but tourist visits and the average tourist expenditure have a positive and significant effect on the export of wood carving handicrafts in Bali Province. Keywords: Export, US Dollar Exchange Rate, Tourist Visit, Long Stay of Tourists, Average Tourist Expenditure

Abstract (sommario):
Gianyar is one of the regencies which are the main tourist destinations in the Province of Bali, with the icon of the Ubud tourism area which is one of the tourist areas which is already very well known in foreign countries. The increase in tourist visits, both domestic and foreign, certainly brings prosperity to the community and also to the government. Fulfillment of all the necessary facilities for the world of tourism should be a serious concern of the government so that tourists feel at home when visiting Gianyar. One very basic factor that needs serious attention is the availability of clean water. So far, the allocation for non-domestic water needs (schools, government, trade, social and tourism) has only been determined based on the percentage of domestic water needs based on the decision of the Directorate General of Human Settlement with an amount of 20-25% of domestic water needs. Looking at the existing conditions in the field and with the development of tourism facilities, it certainly requires a more accurate calculation related to the predetermined percentage of non-domestic water needs.

Abstract (sommario):
In this article, we attempt to examine the nexus of trade, economic growth, and international tourism. We resort to wavelet-based analysis to capture the time–frequency-based lead–lag dynamics of this nexus. Considering the monthly data spanning from January 1999 to February 2018 for the United States, we find the evidence that (a) increasing trade leads to higher tourist inflows (in terms of receipts), (b) tourist receipts are lagged by economic growth, and (c) these relationships are significant in the long term. We believe that these results are crucial for policymakers to frame policies regarding tourism in the United States.

Abstract (sommario):
An important factor in the development of tourism within transboundary territories may be unique tourist resources, or special areas. Border territories often turn into gambling zones, especially in those cases when the industry of gambling entertainment is prohibited in neighboring countries. In addition, a tourist product can be formed on the basis of unique tourist resources, united by a common idea or historical plot. You can get to know them only by traveling from a neighboring or nearby country. Tourists are attracted to the border space by duty-free trade, a large selection of goods, lower prices, convenient opening hours. On the basis of the Agreement, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic will contribute to expanding cooperation in the field of tourism in order to familiarize citizens of their states with achievements in the field of economics, social development, culture, nature and sights, as well as historical monuments and national traditions of the peoples of the three countries. The parties will cooperate in the development of international tourism on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and, in order to increase the tourist flow, facilitate the simplification of visa and customs formalities, exchange lists of travel agencies. The Parties will facilitate the exchange of experience in all areas of international and domestic tourism, promote cooperation between the national tourism administrations of the Parties and other organizations involved in tourism and its development. The parties will also facilitate the dissemination of tourist information to attract the flow of tourists through the publication of promotional materials, the exchange of information, print media, exhibitions, films and the holding of various symposia and seminars. Abstract (sommario):
The main objective of this research is to analyze the effect of depreciation and real exchange rate appreciation on Indonesia's tourism trade balance bilaterally against Australia, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore. Such analysis on bilateral relations have never been studied for developing markets countries, namely Indonesia. This study uses a linear ARDL approach and a nonlinear ARDL approach with the dependent variable on the tourism trade balance and the real exchange rate as independent variables. Income, foreign direct investment (FDI), and natural disasters as control variables. The empirical results show that Chinese and Japanese tourists respond positively to the depreciation in the real currency rate of exchange, thereby increasing Indonesia's tourism trade balance. Nonlinear ARDL shows that the relation concerning the real rate of exchange plus the balance of trade is non-symmetrical with respect to China and Japan, while Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore are symmetrical. These results suggest that the government should formulate policies to increase tourist visits from China and Japan. Further empirical results also found a J-curve pattern in Indonesia-China and Indonesia-Japan.

Abstract (sommario):
The article examines recent trends in the economic relations between Sri Lanka and China focussing on trade, investment and tourism dimensions. Although bilateral economic ties between Sri Lanka and China have strengthened over time, the article demonstrates Sri Lanka’s low rank among China’s economic partners. For example, while China is the second-largest tourism partner of Sri Lanka in terms of tourist arrivals, Sri Lanka does not rank among even China’s top 25 tourist destinations. Consequently, the article recommends certain policy priorities to ensure mutually beneficial economic relations. With regards to tourism, it recommends promoting Sri Lanka’s brand on Chinese e-tourism websites and social media, introducing user-friendly tourist apps in Chinese, strengthening air connectivity and celebrating Chinese festivals. Similarly, trade and investment could be facilitated by stronger links with Chinese cities and connecting Sri Lankan students in China to the Chinese industry via internships and building commercial networks from the ground up.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract. Since many tourists share the photos they take on social media channels, large collections of tourist attraction photos are easily accessible online. Recent research has dealt with identifying popular places from these photos, as well as computing city tourism routes based on these photo collections. Although current approaches show great potential, many tourism attractions suffer from being overrun by tourists, not least because many tourists are aware of only a few tourism hot spots that are trending. In the worst case, automatic city route recommendations based on social media photos will intensify this issue and disappoint tourists who seek individual experiences. In the best case, however, if individual preferences are appropriately incorporated into the route planning algorithm, more personalized route recommendations will be achieved. In this paper, we suggest distinguishing two different types of photo contributors, namely: first-time visitors who are usually tourists who "follow the crowd" (e.g., to visit the top tourist attractions), and repeated visitors who are usually locals who "don’t follow the crowd" (e.g., to visit photogenic yet less well-known places). This categorization allows the user to decide how to trade the one objective off against the other. We present a novel method based on a classification of photographers into locals and tourists, and show how to incorporate this information into an algorithmic routing framework based on the Orienteering Problem approach. In detailed experiments we analyze how choosing the parameter that models the trade-off between both objectives influences the optimal route found by the algorithm, designed to serve the user’s travel objective and preferences in terms of visited attraction types.

Abstract (sommario):
Due to its significant contribution to the prosperity and growth of economies, the tourism industry has always been the one that attracted the attention of many practitioners and researchers who have tried in different ways and from different aspects to identify the key variables that determine tourism demand. The importance of tourism is especially evident in the group of countries included in the EUrope Mediterranean (EU Med) alliance. Considering the importance and role of tourism, the main objective of this research is to examine the influence of different factors on tourism demand for selected eight countries from EU Med alliance during the period 2010-2020 with the application of a dynamic panel data model. The variables encompassed in the model, i.e., income and trade, show a statistically significant positive influence on tourist arrivals in eight countries from EU Med alliance. The results of the empirical research confirmed the positive impact of previous demand on current demand as well as its statistical significance. On the other hand, we also found that terrorism and Covid-19 negatively impact tourist demand. These results imply that for any country in the eight countries from EU Med alliance to attract more arrivals of tourists, it should invest significantly in the tourism sector in terms of upgrading tourism infrastructure, increasing trade openness and promoting a peaceful reputation and safe country.

Abstract (sommario):
The accelerated dynamic development of information and communication technologies has led to significant changes in the functioning of the tourist sector and in the behavior of the tourists themselves. Modern technologies have imposed a new pace of operation of tourist subjects that with easier and closer access to end consumers and will offer a unique and new tourism product. Today tourists have the opportunity before the trip to get informed and get acquainted with distant and exotic tourist destinations, the way of reservation, travel, etc., which are of great interest. Internet technology has contributed to drastic changes in the notions of spatial distance and thus created a totally different mode of communication that is very different and superior to all that has ever been. With the development of new modern communications and technologies the interconnections between travel, the other economic sectors and society as a whole have become far more integrated. The tourism value is perceived by linking entities inside and outside the tourism sector in various combinations to create and exploit new opportunities. Tourists have a primary role in using social networking sites and mobile media in search of travel information and product purchases. In recent decades, the number of tourist trips has increased significantly as a result of the growing supply of tourist products and services. The important role of motivation in tourism is seen in the continuous increase in the number of tourist trips which on the other hand are very important for future development and places to visit. The added value to be extracted from tourism incentives driven by tourism motives lies in innovation, positioning, cultural links, international trade and exchange, social support, education, learning support for local communities, and so on. The application of social networks and technologies as smart phones have proven to be powerful tools in these efforts, as well as the desire to participate, the capacity to face challenges. Seeking new, unique experiences means trying new ways of living, eating and sleeping, discovering unfamiliar cultures or joining other people en masse at major events. This desire to gather, share intense experiences and learn creates the conditions for tourists to develop tolerance, cultural awareness and a better understanding of international relations.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to the reconstruction of Soviet-African tourist ties and, above all, the issues of their formation and complex dynamics of development. It is based on materials from five federal and regional archives containing information about geography, volumes, pricing policy, features of tour programs and the perception of African reality by Soviet tourists. A number of factors influenced the dynamics of tourist relations with African countries: the global confrontation between the two systems; the military-political situation in the countries of the region, which determines the safety of tourists; the trade and economic activity of the USSR; military-technical cooperation. However, all these factors were derived from the state’s attraction to one or another “camp”. The documents demonstrate a rather contradictory dynamic and content of international tourist exchange. If inbound tourism differed by separate programs for socialist and capitalist countries and preferences for friendly countries, outbound tourism was less dependent on the “orientation” of the country. It was characterized by: a minimal “commercial” effect, the cognitive nature of the tour with an obligatory ideological component and the absence (with rare exceptions) of specialized groups.

Abstract (sommario):
The rapid growth of the global travel and tourism sector is one of the most significant trends of the present time. According to the estimates of the World Council on Tourism and Travel, the tourism industry has already surpassed the information industry in terms of development, the tourism and travel market consistently creates new jobs and provides about 1/10 of gross world product. The impact of tourism on the economy of a modern nationstate, which seeks to increase the export of tourist services and, accordingly, receive more income from international tourism, can hardly be overestimated. However, the growth and development of the tourism industry is accompanied by the competition growth in the international market. In such conditions the importance of indicators denoting the competitiveness of a particular state in the world trade in tourist services and reflecting the dynamics of its attractiveness for foreign tourists is increasing. The post-Soviet states, including the states of the Central Asian region, are rightful participants in the international tourism market. In particular, the Republic of Tajikistan is actively developing the inbound and domestic tourism, which are of great interest to the national economy in terms of preserving and multiplying state revenues. In this respect, it is important to determine the position of the Republic of Tajikistan in the world market of tourist services based on existing competitive advantages and to identify the promising sectors for the development of international tourism. A clear positioning of the country will make it possible to determine strategic directions for improving the tourist infrastructure, increasing the efficiency of recreational resources and development of tourist products that meet modern world requirements to the quality of travel services.

Abstract (sommario):
The threat of terrorism is increasingly relevant to tourism on a global scale, and no destination can claim exemption. Tourism managers need to be aware of the impact that past, current, and future terrorism events have on tourist behavior. The aim of this research is to further our understanding as to how terrorism advisory information impacts tourists’ preferences for, and trade-offs between, specific aspects of their travel. The research uses a discrete choice experiment (DCE) embedded within a classic between-subjects experimental design. US-based respondents (n = 424) completed the experiment. A random parameter logit (RPL) model is calculated to understand how tourists’ preference structures change as the threat of terrorism intensifies taking into account travel knowledge, sensation seeking, and demographic factors. Results suggest that tourist’s travel choices in relation to accommodation, independent versus group travel, cancellation policy, and price vary significantly as the threat of terrorism increases.

Abstract (sommario):
The paper studies the features of the development of the tourist industry in Russia focusing enfranchising in tourist services. The tourism services sector worldwide is undergoing big changes associated with the development of information technology and a general increase in competition. Today we can observe two opposite processes: on the one hand, tourism services are accessible from year to year by an increasing number of individuals, on the other hand, the tourists are moving away from the services of tour operators. There is a general expansion of the tourist market, increased competition, increased spending on marketing, there is a need for continuous updating, trade secrets and know-how are developing, while there is a decreasing the life cycle of the participants of the tourist market. All this creates the need to bring together organizations and the creation of cooperative relations in their various forms and types. The article considers the brief history of the development of tourist franchising in Russia, reflects the structure of franchising market of tourist services, the organizational structure of the franchise in the tourist industry, as well as the place of tourist services franchise in the general classification of the forms of franchising. The article discussed in detail the specifics of the type of franchise-related features of tourist businesses in Russia. Special attention is paid to the issue of pricing in the activities of tour operators, as well as its impact on the effective functioning of franchise networks. On the whole franchise is regarded as one of the most viable areas of diversification in the field of tour operator and travel agent services. The relevance of such issue raises due to the crisis in the Russian outbound tourism, the occurrence of which can lead to a significant reduction of professional participants of the tourist market, the reduction of employment in the sector, reducing tax receipts.

Abstract (sommario):
The article substantiates the determining influence of four basic factors of international trade: natural and geographical differences between states; differences in production costs in different countries; the effect of the country's specialization in the production of the good with a greater relative advantage; the effect of the scale of production, and the corresponding theories. All other "reasons for international trade" discussed in numerous publications are at best only modified basic ones. Likewise, these theories can be applied to the analysis and forecasting of international trade in services, particularly in the field of tourism, which is relevant for the post-pandemic development of the countries of the world. Unlike international trade in goods, which recovered in 2021-2022 thanks to strong consumer demand for products, especially in advanced economies, supported by government fiscal stimulus measures, trade in services is recovering at a slower pace. Instead, the uneven distribution of vaccines, the emergence of new COVID-19 stamps and non-tariff restrictions continued to hamper the recovery of tourism and passenger transport in the service sector. Thus, trade in commercial services grew by 16% in 2021, which is 5% below the pre-pandemic level. Accordingly, the problems of the study of international trade in services, in particular tourist services, require thorough research. The existence of four reasons determines the possibility of 15 variants of types of international trade for an individual country or between any two countries. None of the four reasons for international trade is sufficient for its emergence, since only the reduction of the "resistance of distance" in the conditions of the existence of at least one reason for international trade activates its potential. Since the international trade in services needs the basis of scientifically determined approaches to its development between countries and regions in the cross-border dimension, this article presents the main scientific aspects of the theories of international trade and makes proposals for their practical implementation in solving the problems of international trade in tourist services.

Abstract (sommario):
The development and implementation of regional tourism development programs in Ukraine require the formation of the information environment for ranking the tourist systems of Ukraine’s regions according to the attractiveness of their investment potential, which determines the purpose of this study. The methods of economic analysis and rating modeling were used to rank regional tourism systems according to their investment potential by determining the integral indicator of the economic and tourist resources of each region. Accordingly, economic indicators are chosen to provide the regions with financial, labor, and production resources; tourism indicators include supply and demand for tourism services, availability of tourism resources, tourism efficiency, as well as tourism accommodation. According to the results of rating and grouping, three groups of regions were formed: the first (the priority in terms of investment potential of the tourist system has the value of the integrated indicator from 72.0 to 94.8); the second (values from 40.2 to 71.0, reflecting the average level of investment potential); and the third (values from 25.0 to 40.1 for regions with low investment potential). The rating of regional tourist systems reflects the development level of their potential; it is an indicator of the effectiveness of its management and information base necessary for management decisions of potential investors. The asymmetry of investment potential of regional tourism systems causes an imbalance in their competitiveness, so implementing regional and national programs will help intensifying their use and equalizing regions’ development. Abstract (sommario):
<p class="Keyword">Being capital of Indonesia, Jakarta is the center of government, trade and business. It is also the largest city in Indonesia that has large shopping centers that is why it has become the paradise for tourists who love to shop. Yet it has tourist places with cultural values that are as interesting as shops. It is regrettable that this is not well known by tourists. It is necessary that they have a tourist guide on Jakarta. A tourist guide or travel guide is a book that contains information about specific places, a region or a country and that can help tourists to make the discovery. It also makes it easier for them to find important, simple but useful information. In addition, it is a means to promote a country’s tourism wealth. In Jakarta, it is difficult to find tourist guides who can speak in French, but the number of Francophones who are in Jakarta is significant. Thus, this research aims to create a travel guide for Francophones who are in Jakarta or who will discover Jakarta. It is a research and development (<i>recherche et développement</i>) whose data are derived from surveys of Francophones in Jakarta, tourist documents as well as interviews with a guide and staff of the Ministry of Tourism of Jakarta.</p><p class="Abstract"> </p><p class="Keyword"><br></p>

Abstract (sommario):
Today, the tourism industry is one of the most influential industries in the economies of societies, especially in countries seeking a substitute for the export of single-product resources. Having a young population seeking job and great tourism attractions in the region and the world, Iran is in a good place in terms of tourist attraction. Despite the favorable conditions, its status is not favorable in comparison to similar countries. Accordingly, the present study aims to analyze the main determinants of international tourism demand of Iran by examining the current and desirable situation during the period of 1991-2018. Also, it aims to estimate the function of tourism demand in Iran in this time period using the ARDL method. The results of the present study show that the variables of national income of the origin countries (tourist sender), the volume of trade between Iran and other countries, security, as well as the ratio of consumer price index in Iran to consumer price index in origin countries are the most important determinant indicators of Iran’s international tourism demand in the short and long term, respectively. In addition, the negative elasticity of security and price index and the positive elasticity of national income and trade volume, as well as the positive coefficient of the number of tourists in the previous period indicate the effect of these indicators in this study. Keywords: Tourism demand, ARDL, demand determinants.

Abstract (sommario):
This article examines the emergence of the public memory of slavery and the Atlantic slave trade in the Republic of Benin, by explaining how the heritagization of slavery was crucial for the development of a local tourism industry. The article shows that the rise of the public memory of the Atlantic slave trade in Benin is not an isolated venture and that similar initiatives were also developed in other West African countries. The article also discusses how the plural memories of slavery are articulated with the expectations of African American and Afro-Caribbean tourists, who are the main target of projects focusing on slavery cultural heritage and roots tourism. The article concludes that although slavery heritage tourism helped to place Benin among the international slavery tourist destinations, it also contributed to make visible the plural memories of slavery and to commodify African tangible and intangible heritage.

Abstract (sommario):
This study aims to analyze International Tourism Receipts in Indonesia with the variables of International Trade, Inflation, and Exchange Rates during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis technique used to answer the problem is regression analysis using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. This type of research data uses secondary data obtained from the World Bank, Central Statistics Agency, and Bank Indonesia during the 2002-2022 period. The results of research analysis show that 1) the International Trade variable has a significant negative effect on International Tourism Receipts in Indonesia during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The stability of international trade fluctuates, tends to decrease, but after the COVID-19 pandemic and the relaxation of social distancing policies, there has been an increase in international tourism. 2) The Inflation variable has a significant negative effect on International Tourism Receipts in Indonesia. A higher inflation rate increases living and travel costs, then reduces tourist interest. 3) The exchange rate variable has a significant and positive effect toward international tourism receipts. The increase of dollar exchange rate against the rupiah, will increase tourist interest in Indonesia. The implications of the results of this research are important for stakeholders and tourism sector companies so that they can continuously increase International Tourism Receipts in Indonesia through keeping macroeconomic indicators consisting of International Trade, Inflation and Exchange in Indonesia.

Abstract (sommario):
This study examines the influence of the Belt and Road Initiative on China’s inbound tourist market, generated from countries and regions along the Belt and Road, using a gravity model with a difference-in-differences method. Panel data for 2008–2016 indicate that the Belt and Road Initiative has direct and significant positive effects on Chinese international tourist-generating markets, but the annual treatment effects are only partly significantly positive. We also examined the heterogeneous effects and mechanism of the Belt and Road Initiative on the inbound tourist market by grouping countries according to the levels of trade openness with China and economic development. The heterogeneous effect tests reveal that China’s international tourist origin countries with low levels of trade openness with China and high levels of economic development benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative. The findings of this study provide policy guidance on expansion for China’s inbound tourism market.

Abstract (sommario):
This article addresses transplant tourism as one facet of the international organ trade. It asks whether mainstream media portrayals of Canadian transplant tourist journeys convey messages supportive of stronger efforts to stop extra-territorial organ purchase. A postcolonial theoretical approach using Mary Louise Pratt’s study of travel writing is employed to conduct a discourse analysis of Canadian media and cultural representation from 1988 to 2015. The public learns that transplant tourism is “bad” but understandable, and either not our problem or a symptom of another problem. Three forms this message takes are: the broader organ trade is a distant and insurmountable problem; transplant tourists are innocent victims; and, resolution of a larger, national organ scarcity problem will end transplant tourism. I conclude that the media generates ambivalence towards the issue of transplant tourism. Reader attention is drawn away from health outcomes and human rights, especially of organ providers – reasons Canada might do more to stop transplant tourism – towards the challenges faced by transplant tourists, with the effect of eclipsing public discussion of whether and how to stop Canadians from buying organs in other countries.

Abstract (sommario):
This study analyzes whether hosting mega-sporting events is a useful marketing platform for countries to promote international tourism on a longer term basis. Our model adopts the gravity equation of international trade to bilateral international tourist arrivals. We find a country-level tourism effect only for the Summer Olympic Games. Hosting increases international tourist arrivals significantly in the 8 years before, during, and in the 20 years after the event. In contrast, hosting the FIFA World Cup is overall ineffective in tourism promotion despite higher tourist arrivals in the event year. We attribute these differences in international tourism legacy to the level of strategic planning in promoting tourism, the impact of media on the broadcasting audience, and the participating countries.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractBackground: The study models a dynamic interaction among economic growth, structural change, knowledge accumulation, international trade and tourist flows. Objective: The purpose of this study is to introduce endogenous knowledge into a multi-country growth model with trade and tourism proposed by Zhang. The study models a dynamic interaction among economic growth, structural change, knowledge accumulation, international trade and tourist flows. Methods/Approach: The model is based on Arrow’s learning by doing, the Solow one-sector growth model, the Oniki-Uzawa neoclassical trade model, and the Uzawa two-sector growth model. We first build the multi-country neoclassical growth model of endogenous knowledge with international tourism. Then we show that we can follow the motion of the J - country world economy with J + 1 differential equations. Results: We simulate the motion of the three-country global economy. We carry out a comparative dynamic analysis by simulation with regard to the knowledge utilization efficiency, the efficiency of learning by doing, the propensity to save, the propensity to tour other countries, and the population. Conclusions: The global economy has a unique equilibrium.
