Testo completoEncouraging pro-environmental behaviours is deeply needed due to the significant impact of human activity on climate change. Part of the population is already engaged in virtuous behaviours, but many obstacles are still preventing climate action. It is even more significant in a tourism context since pro-environmental behaviours tend to fade during holidays. Researchers are still struggling to identify an effective approach that could lead to long-term responsible behaviours. However, the literature dedicated to transformative tourism highlights the power of the tourism experience to encourage individual transformations. To broaden existing research, this doctoral work suggests that practices experienced during a tourism activity could be transferred to everyday life and foster pro-environmental behaviours. Our empirical material is based on a longitudinal and multi-method data collection from nineteen respondents who walked several days on the Camino de Compostela. Our results first enrich the understanding of the holistic process of transformation in the context of a pedestrian itinerancy through the construction of a conceptual model exploring the dynamics of this process, the triggering factors as well as the types and duration of transformations. Our results also identify that confrontation with frugal practices during pedestrian itinerancy triggers the adoption of long-term pro-environmental practices thanks to a mechanism of transferability that encourages the transposition of frugal practices from holidays to everyday life. These results not only contribute to the literature on transformative tourism and the adoption of pro-environmental behaviours, but also make relevant methodological contributions. Our research also has a significant managerial and social impact since we invite tourism stakeholders to design frugal activities that could convince tourists to adopt more sustainable behaviours in their daily lives. This would contribute to the collective effort towards sobriety.Key words : long-term sustainable behaviour, transformative tourism, frugal practices, transferability, longitudinal study

Food service employees are subjected to human-oriented service, multinational, multilingual, many customers’ complaints, and unplanned situations. All these job characteristics are easily to make workers weighted down by the high stress, which ultimately leads to the occupational health condition—burnout. Burnout has a negative impact on employee commitment and performance, and results in some harmful behaviors such as being absent from work or turnover. Once an employee leaves the job, the company has to take the cost of turnover. Therefore, how to reduce employees’ burnout is the important issue to hotel management. There are studies which found out the impact of transformational leadership style on subordinates’ burnout. However, there are few researches discussing this issue in domestic hospitality industry. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the relationship between transformational leadership style and burnout, trying to find out the differences between the dimensions’ effects. The results showed that the marital status makes difference: the single employees have higher burnout level than the married ones; the captains have the highest burnout level, the second high is the servers. Transformational leadership style has the negative impact on employees’ burnout, and different dimensions have different effects: A.The three dimensions of transformational leadership—“friendly kindness,” “lead by vision” and “empower with consideration” have significant negative impact on the primary symptom of burnout—“emotional exhaustion.” B.The two dimensions of transformational leadership—“friendly kindness” and “empower with consideration” have significant negative impact on the second symptom of burnout—“depersonalization.” C.The three dimensions of transformational leadership— “lead by vision,” “empower with consideration” and “inspirational motivation” have significant negative impact on the last symptom of burnout—“reduced personal accomplishment.”

As travel population grows worldwide, there is an increasing demand for professional talents. According to a report by the World Travel and Tourism Council, the ratio of travel industry to GDP in Northeast Asia would run ahead of the rest of the word by 2022. And according to the statistics by the Tourism Bureau of the Executive Yuan in 2014, the various domestic travel indexes have shown a stable rising trend in the past three years. So, this study will pay attention to this social situation and discuss the import factors that influence personnel performance in the tourism sector, in particular the effect of high-level travel industry leaders on the front-line service staff. A random sampling questionnaire survey was conducted in this study, which falls into two levels. There are 300 respondents, including the high-level managers of 50 national conglomerate travel agencies or branches at the organizational level and other the front-line service staff of these organizations at the individual level, were interviewed, aimed at discussing the relationship between transformational leadership, high-performance human resource practice, perceived organizational support and front-line service behavior. Then, this research would use several statistical analyses, including descriptive statistic, factor analysis, reliability and validity test, one-way ANOVA, linear regression and hierarchical linear modeling (HLM), were carried out on the data collected. The research result shows that by means of transformational leadership and high-performance human resource practice, the high-level travel industry leaders can enable the front-line staff to positively affect perceived organizational support, and then effectively influence the front-line service behavior, so that the staff’s in-role and extra-role behaviors should be in accordance with enterprise objectives and missions at work. Therefore, the contribution of this study is that it can bring it home to the travel industry that enabling the front-line staff to enhance perceived organizational support can positively affect the front-line service behavior. In addition, the enhancement of perceived organizational support relies on high-level leaders’ transformational leadership and high-performance human resource practice, which could help achieve a win-win situation between an enterprise and its members.
